Almost perfect... but

Slabs is open on a Good Friday. A great place for lunch. Lots of people and I notice most are damily diners. The choice and variety of food is good. The food tasted great considering the fair price. Venue is also cozy and cool even on a hot summer day. Everything went well, except they missed an item in the order. Waited so long for it. Did not hear any apology. From 5 star, I am rating this experience as 2 stars.

If I could, I would give a big fat ZERO !!!

I went there with my wife last month and like the baby back ribs, so Idecided to treat her again at Slabs.... Best if I had broken a leg.. They try to surf on the " dry aged " crap, which can be sometimes tasty if done very well... As an exemple, you NEVER dry age a rib-eye steak on its own as you are supposed to trim quite extensively a dry aged meat before even being able to grill it... But at Slabs, they just " dry age " steaks which results in a terrible shoe sole, greyish and corned beef tasting !!! So I chose on the menu, rib eye from the chiller, which is on another part than their dry aged stuff... I am a Chef and for me, chilled meat (or playing on words, meat from the chiller) is a meat that has not been frozen, and certainly not another dry aged crap !!! I called the supposedly " Chef " and explained my problem and that I wanted my meat replaced... Guess what ? I never got anything... Except a deep fat " sorry " grin and a 1'200 peso charge for a piece of meat that even the stray cat outside refused to eat... This borders on crookery... NEVER EVER SET FOOT THERE, YOU MIGHT END UP SICK !!!

Interesting place good food

The place offers a breakfast buffet every weekend from 6-10 am with sumptuous variety of choices in a relaxing atmosphere with friendly crew. Parking space is abundant. The 21 day aged steak and pizza is something not to be missed. You will get more value for your money

Super disappointing

After making us wait for 20 mins, they advise us that they run out of gas so they cannot cook our food. Highly unacceptable

Worst steak Ever

Worst steak, dry, tasteless and rubbery. Never will ever, ever be a patron. The manager did not even have the decency to check what is the complaint.

Value for Money

All I can say once you eat here there will probably only 2 steakhouse you'll have to choose Slabs or Texas Joe! Definitely better than meat plus!

Ribeye!

The dry age steaks were tasty and tender, at a reasonable price (350 g steak were at 800 Php). Staff were also attentive and friendly.

Good place to take the family

We went to Slabs to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Food was good and the staff was friendly. We'll be back again.

Very Disappointing

This was my second visit to SLABS. The first visit was excellent. This time, it was poor. I ordered the dry aged steak again (it was great my first visit). What came out looked like it had been boiled, not grilled. It was white. Half the steak (only 200grams to start) was fat and grizzle. Uneatable. Service was very slow. It was very crowded, but not an excuse. I would NOT go here again.

Valentines diner

The food was ok, good ribeye steak and salmon but mashed potatoes and vegetables were tasteless. Salad and dessert could be better. In general price was a little bit to high compared with total quality. Maybe better on other days as it was very crowded due to Valentines day

something to ponder for the hungry traveller

highly recommended for the family. Ambiance and environment is very human.. i even see a signage that there is no WiFi because persons should talk to each other.. anyways the food is superlative and not expensive. Staffs are very nice..

This place defines Delectation!!- It's now my # 1 spot of all places to dine in Subic!!!

For those who know my taste I am high maintenance when it comes to food and being served. My foreign stomach has a hard time finding a high quality place to dine at. This experience started off with a kind smile but on the wrong track when I was informed there was no drinks other then bottled water and milkshakes. I was dredding writing a bad review but I gave them a chance because of the friendly staff and comfortable setting. Then came the food.. Wow just wow!!! - I never ate onion rings that looked as if they were naturally made and the Rib eye steak was superb!! You can taste the grill in my steak and it was so tender. Dish was acompanied by a decent succulant portions of vegtables cooked to perfection. I can't remember the last timw I ever ate this good in Philippines or a place that got almost everything right!! I had to give the cooks, manager and waiter / tress my deepest compliment for making this first time a memorable experience. Can't wait to come back!!

Excellent Meal!

I had the dry aged ribeye meal. It was excellent! Soup of the day was Tomato Cream, very good. Dry aged steak had great flavor, although was a bit on the small (thin) side. Nice glass of red wine to go with the meal, and reasonably priced. I'll be back! Note: Does not currently have the seafood dishes or salads listed on their menu.

So bad

I'm sorry but this picture says it all. This is exactly how they served a REUBEN sandwich so NOT a Reuben! it is not a sandwich from a prison either. Its their actual Reuben sandwich. Australian style bacon not pastrami, which is beef, and only 2 tiny slices, or should I say roof tiles! They where hard as nails and so clearly cooked a couple times. The slimy sauce smothered on the unmelted mystery cheese made eye balls feel sick. The server nor manager saw anything wrong with this culinary masterpiece as they explained to me, " Thats how we make it ". They literally served slimy bacon roof tiles on store bought cheese and sliced bread, then murdered 2 mere times when they smashed it for some reason only to then tell me they took creative license with the Reuben sandwich. I had to Google a picture of a Reuben to explain the depths of their position. Then I had to explain the difference between pork, beef, wheat, rye, and swiss cheese. I mean this place is for people who have no idea what the heck they are putting in their mouth. I was offended that someone would put such a thing in front of me and expect me to like, or pay for it. Stay home!

Late Lunch with the BFFs

We went for a late lunch right before going back to Manila. We were not disappointed the servings were for was huge for 1 person and the taste was great. My favorite was their baby back ribs and their house salad. Would love to go back to taste all their steaks.

Freshness

Family friend recommended this place and try.. True enough one of the best steak in Subic.. Salads is fresh and nice perfectly matched with their dressing.. drinks one of my favourite is lemon cucumber 😍😍😍..

I really wanted it to be good!

I was so excited for a new steakhouse in the area. The photos and ads looked good. I saw both positive and negative reviews so we decided to give it a try. We were 3 for a late lunch around 1:30 on a Thursday and we ordered the dry aged ribeye, the grilled chicken and the Seafood marinara pasta. Cost for this was 1315peso so it should be very good! First the positives: I like the design of the place and the décor. The Cream of Vegetable soup was good! Served at the correct temperature. The negatives: The chicken appeared to be precooked and re-warmed on the grill.. overcooked and dry. The steak was very thin 200grams for over 750 peso, I ordered medium rare and it came out rare even cold in the middle. The mashed potato was ok, but the gravy was not hot, barely warm. The veggies were under-cooked. The pasta was warm and sauce ok, but lacking the seafood for over 300pesos. Café France on the NLEX has a better one for 1 / 2 the price. So sad to say, we will not return. The price vs quality is way off. Texas Joes and Meat Plus are both better options in this area.

Grest dinner

We visited Slabs for lunch. We selected fish and chips, and it turned out to be a very good choice. Large helping, very tastey. The waiter and waitress were helpful and very pleasant easy to joke with. the beer was ice cold. A gentlemsn sat at the next table and we found he was the owner. happy pleasant fellow to chat with. Iwould not hessitate to return to Slabs again on my next visit. Thsnk you for wonderful meal.

Slabs You!

This is one of the freshest restaurants I've been to and not only in the Philippines every place I've been to in the world! Aside from the great food: Beef Salpicao, Ribeye Steak, Sisig are my favorites so far; the decor is so on point. From the chain link chandeliers, to the sign that's made out of screws, this place exudes creativity and lots of love which also comes out in the flavors of their food. Classic dishes that are turned into soulful dishes. The steaks for instance are dry-aged to perfection. It has the right amount of acidity that gives the meat and fat an amazing aroma. I love the fact they don't season the meat aside from butter. I like having the liberty of putting my own salt and pepper or having the option of dipping it in one of their gravies or a dap of A1 sauce. I'm from San Francisco and I don't know any restaurants that sell dry-aged steaks without costing an arm and a leg. The prices are so reasonable in comparison to the quality of food they serve. Try Kuya Carlo's ice tea for a refreshing, flavorful drink with a nice hint of tang. I broke my ketosis fast just to try it and it was worth every drop. Your tastebuds will love you for it. Above all, what makes this restaurant so great is the staff. They are amazing. Service is excellent. From the servers and down to the line cooks. It seems everyone in there enjoys what they do or doing what they love. You can taste the happiness of Slabs. The owners Astrud and Adel have done a remarkable job and have only added to the strong culinary culture of the Philippines. Thank you Slabs for making my first experience at Subic Bay a great one. Did I tell you I ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner there all in one day? LOL!

Great schnitzel

I came here for lunch and ordered the schnitzel chicken. The inside was clean and modern. The staff was friendly and the menu had a little bit of everything. I chose the chicken schnitzel with salad. The salad was fresh but the only dressing offered was balsamic vinegar. The schnitzel was nice. The breeding was crispy, the meat was cooked nice and was moist and flavorful. The dish also came with a side of rice which was fairly standard plain rice. All in all the place was decent, I will likely be going back.

DO NOT LISTEN TO NEGATIVE REVIEWS BECAUSE THIS IS THE BEST STEAKHOUSE IN SUBIC BAY

I was hesitant to visit this restaurant at first due to some negative reviews from other guests. Good thing we got lost and doesnt have any choice but to stop on this place! We Tried their 350 and 500grams rib eye and IT WAS THE BEST STEAK we have ever tasted! Steaks are " very tender " and full of flavor coz its 21 days dry aged. We also tried their baby back ribs, norwegian salmon, marinara pasta, Slabs salad and house blended tea... my my my! All of their foods are made from the heart! Great and fast service, very warm atmosphere, unique and classy resto design. For those who are complaining about the size of the steak being small because they ordered 200grams and the price is a bit stiff.. remember that you are eating a dry aged steak that usually offered by gourmet restaurants and not a fast food so 500pesos of complete meal and i mean complete because that includes 200ml of drink is not expensive at all.... oh and their vegetables are cooked fresh and mashed potatoes as well.

the place has awesome decor!

unfortunately if you're coming here for the steak, i would suggest you go elsewhere. i cant comment on their other menu items bec i havent tried others and i no longer have plans of doing so bec i find their prices quite steep for the taste and quality of the rib eye i was served (and that was supposed to be their best seller). service was good though and the decor was awesome and original! but as for taste and quality, since they pride themselves of serving " dry-aged " beef, its just not there and nowhere near it, actually. put it this way... if you buy the P600 / kg local rib eye sa palengke laiden with cattle steroids and antibiotics, bring it home, season it and throw it in a pan.... you'll probably end up with the same thing that i had. but you'll be binging on a 1-kilo ribeye. mine was a meager 200gram for P500. oh and did i mention the decor was nice?

Steak and pasta

We went here and tried their rib eye steak and truffle pasta. The steak cost around P500 for 200grams with vegetable and rice. The pasta is around P200 for single serving. The food is average and price is a bit expensive. The place is quiet and they have creative displays

Perfect dining place for family

Good food selection and excellent recommendation from the dining staff. It's worth the visit and price. Owners are very accommodating. The place is an ideal venue for family celebrations.

Go for Texas Joe instead

Ive been dining here and there as part of my job, And it was my first time in slabs earlier and it will also be my last. When I entered, I thought, the place is cozy. But thats just it. I ordered the rib eye, which they say is the best seller, but its just plain ok. Id rather wait for 30mins or so at texas joe. So if you are here for steak, then I would rather suggest texas joe or maybe an hr away is pampanga where you can find the deli, piccolo padre and amare. And if you are a sucker for a customer friendly place, definitely this is not a place to be. Upon asking for official receipt, apparently, they said that it is our fault for not letting them know that we'd want two receipts prior to eating. First of, we dont monitor the prices of what we eat. So we wont know for sure if we need two OR or more not until we asked for our bill. So since twas done we offered options of how we can have two ORs as this is what we do all the time to all of the places we've been. I would understand if they say no if we are asking them to do something more than the usual. But it is just voiding the paper receipt to get two paper receipt so they could now have two ORs. Not possible? Then how come once we are all lined up at our favorite fast food chain and realize that your soda should be pineapple, they'd can void it and print another one? And really, this is the first time Ive heard of a resto that CAN'T do that.

Definitely was not what I expexted

PRICE is NOT PROPORTIONATE. Or maybe we aren't just used to this kind of pricing. But putting into mind another restaurant offering the same here in SBFZ I can definitely say that the portion did not justify the price. From that OVERPRICED food we were served with soda a kid would be able to drink in one gulp. We ordered their value meal (instead of the slabs meal where the only difference is a soup) Awesome (but not so awesome) Barbecue Ribs, Newyork Sirloin Steak (was kinda dry or maybe because we wanted it cooked medium well), I think we also ordered Ribeye Steak and lastly Nachos for appetizer. Aside from their BLAND steaks, what also DISAPPOINTED me is their service. We waited long minutes for the bill and our takeaway burger after sitting in our table for 10 minutes we were told we were given the wrong order (good thing we were waiting for our bill).

Underwhelming

Went tonight with the family, it's our first time at this place so we were quite excited. Three of us ordered steak, one ceasar salad and a Reuben sandwich. Their slabs meal comes with mashed potatoes, soup, veggies and a drink. Their value meals comes with a cup of rice, veggies and a drink. But tonight the mashed potatoes are not available so we opted for rice. The drink that my brother got with his value meal is so small, even a kid wouldn't be satisfied with it. The new york strip steak was overcooked, considering my bro said he wants it medium. My salisbury steak was bland and the portion served to me didn't justify the price that we paid for it. The baby back ribs that my father ordered was so underwhelming, it tasted like it was cooked by someone who's new at cooking ribs and the sauce was not tasty at all.. The Reuben sandwich was just okay, and the potato wedges that came with it are served up in huge sizes that it took half of the size of the plate and had to be cut in smaller, bite size pieces. They should put some salt and pepper on their tables so that paying customers can adjust their meals accordingly. The only upside tonight was the friendly staff and waiters that accomodate us. But this place needs to make some serious changes in their food if they wanna last this year. For now, we will definitely NOT be going back to this place.

Slow service

The place is comfy but the price is rather steep. The portion is much smaller than another steak joint in SBFZ but more pricey. The taste is really good but it's not for budget conscious people. Took a long time before they gave us our meal as a friend's order got lost in the order process.
