Bridge Back Foundation

To further their educational efforts North Carolina Vietnam Veterans, Inc. established the Bridge Back Foundation. Their mission is to " Teach a Nation " NCVVI member and 40+ years teaching, Bob Matthews along with NCVVI developed a full curriculum course for schools. The title " Lessons of Vietnam " or as the students refer to it as the LOV class has been very successful both locally as well as nationally and now internationally. The initial course began at Enloe High School in Raleigh where Bob taught the class. Working with administrators, teachers, students and the community, The Bridge Back Foundation supports the schools with a Teachers Academy, books, and supplies, trips to the Wall as well as veteran involvement in the classes. NCVVI through its Foundation continues to expand the course reaching young and adult students nationally.

In 2009, twelve members of the Bridge Back traveled to Vietnam and began distance learning with local high schools and Vietnam high schools. A return trip to Vietnam for educational and humanitarian purposes is being planned for early 2012
