The Cedar House on the Hill B & B includes 2 guest rooms (Ocean View Room and Cedar View Room) with full use of our Sun Room, where breakfast is served. The dining area is surrounded by windows giving you a great and breathtaking ocean view while eating your breakfast. A full breakfast will be served, offering guests peace and quiet as they prepare for another perfect day. Our rooms are separate from the main building and you will have a private entrance. The parking place is just in front of the main entrance. If you are a group or a family the rooms are ideal for 4 people. In October 2013, Cedar House on the Hill has been honored by Celebration Media, U. S. Absolutely beautiful
My husband and I took my 80 year old Mom here for two nights as her birthday gift. There were two bedrooms, a shared bathroom and a sunroom, as well as use of the sundeck. The entire space was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The view was spectacular. The hosts were friendly and inviting and the breakfasts were delicious! Highly recommend this beautiful property- gorgeous B & B!
Clean and peaceful
A very clean B & B and very nice hosts. We were very disappointed that there was only a mattress cover on the bed and NO sheets. The hosts were accommodating and provided a bottom sheet the following night. The view is spectacular and they provide a lot of privacy. Location is very close to town.
Excellent value for money
Excellent location: the view from the room where you eat breakfast (private) overlooks the ocean and is a beautiful spot to enjoy a quiet morning while eating a delicious breakfast. As the reviews have said, there really was a huge amount of food- so much so that we were able to pack a lunch for the day! My husband and I walked into Ganges town for dinner on both nights. It took us 40 min- was a great way to build up an appetite for dinner then walk it off. The main road doesn't have a sidewalk but the shoulder was suitable for walking. The room and bathroom were impeccably clean- and very simple, the towels smelled divine! The bathroom is not directly in the bedroom, but they don't book a different family in the second room so you don't have to worry about sharing. The bed was a bit hard- but very big and allowed for a comfortable enough night's sleep. All in all, a great stay! We would gladly return with our little one (being born in October) and her grandparents next summer!
Really Enjoyed
We stayed 2 nights and found the hosts very pleasant and friendly. Their B & B is really good. a beautiful view out the window overlooking the ocean and islands. The room was comfortable and clean. Very quiet and private. Has Wifi. Good breakfast as well with lots of breads, cheeses, eggs, fruit, coffee etc. A small point to remember is that there are only 2 rooms and they have a shared bath. Family OK but not so good for 2 couples. Confirm with the owners when booking. Only 3-4 minutes to Ganges center.
Beautiful view, friendly hosts, delicious food
A wonderful way to end our tour of 4 gulf islands. The B & B was clean, the hosts very congenial and the food delicious. The central location allowed us access to downtown and other parts of the island. We would definitely stay there again.
Relaxing, beautiful, and delicious!
The hosts were so welcoming, the accommodations were comfortable, clean and very tastefully decorated. The view is stunning overlooking the harbour and forest. The breakfast was delicious. copious amounts of food - better than any restaurant I would say. We are looking forward to the next stay & would highly recommend the Cedar House on the Hill B & B
Great Stay!
We spent a night at the Cedar house on the Hill B & B and it was wonderful! Very clean and quiet, totally private part of the house to stay in, and there was so much amazing food for breakfast! We will definitely be going back to stay there.
Good value for the money
We stayed here for one night. Rita and her hubby were friendly but also gave us our privacy. The suite is separate from the main house and has a lovely sitting area overlooking the water. The whole suite is dated but comfortable. The suite was immaculately clean. The bed however was very firm which we found to be uncomfortable. We woke up many times during the night with sore backs. The breakfast portion was huge and delicious. This would be a good place to stay for families as there are two rooms with a shared bathroom.
We felt right at home
We chose this B & B because of the views and we were not disappointed. The guest area is separate from the main house and has its' own entrance and a lovely big sun room with big windows to enjoy the view over Ganges Harbour. The breakfasts were amazing with lots of variety and choice in what to eat. The B & B location is very convenient to Ganges and an easy drive to any of the three ferry ports. We had the ocean view room and it was big and bright with a very comfortable king size bed. Our hosts were very welcoming and interesting to talk with and we felt right at home.
Will surely recommend
Very good memory staying there for 2 nights. Elegant, quiet and super clean. Love the breakfast and the view from their balcony! My first time seeing so many hummingbirds and so closely. Their homemade breakfast is absolutely gorgeous and all the kids loved it. We also saw a deer family walking around their house. This is a really nice pick for families and friends. Strongly recommend.
Great B & B on Saltspring
Very peaceful, serene and comfortable accommodations with lovely views from the living room area and the ocean view room. The second bedroom overlooked a lovely garden. It worked perfectly for 2 couples. Rita and her daughter are wonderful hosts. The breakfast was fabulous with lots of homemade items. I would definitely recommend this B & B to all my friends. The homemade cookies as a parting gift were appreciated and a lovely gesture.
Cedar House on the Hill
Cedar House on the Hill B & B is situated on a very quiet hill top, near the forest and has a great view across the gulf islands and the active pass. It is close to Ganges with the famous Saturday market and a good starting point for walking trips and excursions on Salt Spring Island. The rooms are clean and homely decorated. The hosts are very helpful and friendly and the breakfast is delicious with a lot of varieties of bread, fruits and served in a buffet style. All in all, a place to feel very comfortable and enjoy a great holiday. I will surely book this B & B again.
Bike Ride on Salt Springs
This beautiful B & B really is on top of a hill with views looking out over the water and the lush vegetation. We had very comfortable rooms and were happy to share the full size bathroom. The living area and deck was very comfortable for reading and relaxing and for enjoying the full breakfast (which was way more food than we could of eaten). The hosts were extremely kind and very helpful. We were on our bicycles and they were kind enough to transport us up and down the hill so we would not have to ride up the long hill after we had dinner in town. I would stay there again, no complaints.
Feel like sweet home
Cedar House on the Hill B & B is one of the most beautiful place we ever have been. Rita and Manfred are wonderful host. The rooms are big and furnished with love. You have a great view to the sea and (when the weather is good) to the Rocky Mountains. The house is in a very quiet situation but also close to Ganges with his café and galleries. And the breakfast... what should I say? It's delicious! Especially the yummi cake, tarts and muffins.
Great for a Family
We thought this B and B was perfect for a family since it has a master and a room next door with a shared bathroom. If you book both rooms, it is very private and secure. We made use of their fantastic sunroom and were so thankful we had use of a fridge and access to the ocean view porch. The Rita and Manfred are such wonderful hosts. The breakfast is absolutely spectacular - the best we've ever had a B and B. For the price, I really recommend this place.
B & B mit dem persönlichen Touch
Wir haben nun zum zweiten Mal im Cedar house on the hill gewohnt, und haben es wie schon vorher sehr genossen. Ein schöner Sonnenaufgang über den anderen Gulf Islands, später ein wunderbares Frühstück von Rita und dann ab über die Insel, die schon etwas ganz besonderes ist. Das Haus liegt am Hang oberhalb von Ganges Harbor, ein wenig ausserhalb von Ganges Richtung Mount Maxwell. Morgens gibt es auf der Terasse die aufgehende Sonne zu bewundern (oder den Morgennebel), später ist es dort angenehm frisch (Aufwind vom Meer) oder man nimmt die Veranda mit Jakuzi auf der dann sonnigen Westseite für den Nachmittags-Tee. Falls das Wetter mal nicht mitspielt, gibt es den Wintergarten in der Mitte, zum Lesen oder Spielen. Faszinierend sind immer wieder (von hier aus, oder direkt auf der Terasse) die Kolibris, die zum Trinken kommen! Wunderbar, wie sie sich um die " Blüten " streiten. Das B & B hat nett hergerichtete Zimmer mit grossen Doppelbetten und ein Badezimmer (Dusche / Badewanne), freies WLAN gibt es auch. Morgens gibt es hin und wieder etwas kurzen Lärm von den startenden Wasserflugzeugen, die in Ganges landen, aber dass ist bei allen Hotels o. ä. in Ganges so. Wer Tipps für Ausflüge braucht, bekommt von den Gastgebern alles, was man braucht, insbesondere auch Veranstaltungstipp zu den Studios auf der Insel, die man vielleicht so nicht gesehen gefunden hätte.
