Short but suite !
Stayed just one night which was too short. Loved our short yet suite stay ! The suite was spacious, clean and welcoming. No breakfast but lovely cookies and appetizers ! We will definitely be back for a longer stay.
Peaceful & Private
We really enjoyed our stay at the Anchor Point bed & breakfast. The suite is at the back of a home, & includes a private entrance, patio with views out to the water, living room, kitchen, dining area, and lots of space for luggage. The hosts greet you with homemade cookies, appetizers & lots of information about the island & where to go. We have been travelling to Salt Spring for years, but we were still able to have some new experiences thanks to the wealth of information provided at Anchor Point. Breakfast is ordered daily: you make your picks on a sheet of paper, and leave it at a delivery point in your suite. That's also where you'll find your breakfast tray every morning, complete with baking, coffee & juice, and a delicious fruit & yogurt concoction of your choice. Takeaway bags are included, so you can pack some goodies along with you for your day out. Daily cleaning is also provided, meaning we always returned to a neat and tidy suite. The home is located just a few minutes drive from the busy Village -- you also get tips on secret parking for the Saturday market. The suite features a selection of books, music, and DVD's... along with complimentary sherry. Aside from seeing our hosts at the beginning and end of our stay, you are left in complete privacy, which we really appreciated. We could come and go as we pleased... it really felt like we were living on Salt Spring! We were also able to keep our bags at the home on the day we left, as we waited for the ferry. Had a great, and very relaxing time here. Really appreciated the attention to detail & privacy... would recommend.
excellent!
My husband and I have travelled to Salt Spring a few times over the years but this is the first time we have stayed @ Anchor Point. This place did not disappoint... the one bedroom suite is gorgeous with a view of the harbour and the sail club.... and the breakfast (with fresh fruit, muffins, scones)... delicious! The wonderful hosts Lynn and Ralph were very helpful with restaurant and beach recommendations. We will definitely go back and stay here again.
Best ever B & B accommodation with everything you can think of provided
Stayed 3 nights in the Terrace Suite at Anchor Point and were astounded when we walked in. It is a fully-furnished suite of rooms with everything imaginable to make for a wonderful, relaxing holiday - top quality comfortable furnishings, books, magazines, games, DVDs, CDs, BBQ on the deck, right down to a First Aid kit in the bathroom, AND the bed is SO comfortable, unlike some we've been in. It is the most spacious B & B we have stayed in. Guests' choice of delicious breakfasts are delivered to the suite which works well - no fixed time to be in a dining room. Lynn & Ralph are delightful hosts who have the right mix of providing service and information about the island while at the same time respecting their guests' privacy. Nothing could be faulted. So much more than a B & B
We spent 3 nights at Anchor Point and they were truly amazing. The accommodation is a self-contained suite, complete with kitchen, dining area and lounge, as well as a very comfortable bedroom and well appointed shower room. And the breakfasts, which appear as if by magic, are delicious. It's just as well we managed to do some walking to work off all the extra calories! The owners had thought of everything to make our stay a real delight. The only downside we found was that we didn't want to walk into Ganges for dinner as the road was reasonably busy.
This accommodation is just lovely!
Ralph and Lynn have thought of everything! There are alot of small touches - music playing as you come into the place, tea / coffee when you want, unlimited homemade cookies, books, magazines and dvd's; everything to make your stay comfortable. The barbeque and hot tubs are the best bonus not found in most bed and breakfast - I love Salt Spring and come back yearly and always look forward to staying with Ralph and Lynn.
Best B & B experience ever
Because we had such excellent pre-stay assistance from Ralph it came as no surprise to us that our stay matched all of our expecations. Most of the good stuff has been said already in other postings (unequalled attention to detail, help when you want it - but only if you want it) great cookies etc etc etc We visited with our 12 year old son and actually we felt the accommodation suited our family size and format perfectly (a small bed for him in an alcove off the lounge and a nice double bedroom for us) The B & B is also very conveniently located - walking distance from Ganges if you feel energetic We spent 5 nights at Anchor Point but could easily have made it 2 weeks!
Amazing B & B -- even without power!
My husband booked us into Anchor Point for a surprise weekend getaway in December. Who knew we'd be in the middle of a freak snowstorm while we were there? (for those of you not familiar with this part of Canada, snow is unusual here) At Anchor Point, Lynne and Ralph have thought about everything. They clearly understand the B & B experience from the customer point of view. From the well stocked kitchen, with a top notch assortment of teas and coffee and cider, to the terrific appetizers in the fridge, to the sherry in the entertainment unit, to the bathrobes and slippers, to the breakfast delivered to your room, all the small touches were just perfect. Because there was a danger the power would go out, they provided a flashlight (powered by battery and crank), as well as battery-powered candles and actual candles. We had the suite downstairs, and it was well provisioned for us to hole up while the entire island shut down due to snow. We had our pick of their 600+ DVDs, plenty of board games, free wifi, a gas fireplace and a lovely kitchen. The deck, with its grill, would have been lovely in summer. The decor was very tasteful, in addition to being functional. The pictures on the website are absolutely truthful -- everything was exactly as advertised. Breakfast was, as mentioned in other reviews, lovely. We were able to make our own choices from a menu, and then they magically appeared in our suite the next morning -- even when the oven stopped working. Lynne can work wonders! We'll certainly be back -- in better weather next time!
A little oasis of calm
We chose Anchor Point B & B on Saltspring island as a base to relax after longhaul flight from Europe to Vancouver and charge up for two months of travelling through BC and the Rockies. It was perfect. Lynne and Ralph have recently converted the basement area into a self-contained studio apartment with patio, garden access and sea views and our two nights at Anchor Point were a real treat. Breakfast was delivered each morning with lashings of fresh fruit and delicious home baking. Good recommendations were dispensed freely in a warm and friendly fashion and evening soaks in the hot tub were just what the doctor ordered ! We would recommend Anchor Point very highly. exeptional experience
We would ;like to thank Ralph and Lynn for a wonderful stay at their beautiful B & B. They thought of everything to make our stay most enjoyable. Robes and slippers for the Hot Tub. Mini fridge stocked with pop, delicious appys at 5:00 p. m. every evening with refreshments. The Breakfast were to die for. A basket of assorted warm biscuits & muffins followed by warm carmalized peaches on yogurt and our entree baked fritta. A marvelous meal. Lynn gave us a paper bag to take along our left over muffins to enjoy during our day of exploring this wonderful Island of Salt Spring. Ralph was full of knowledge about the Island and gave us some great tips on what to see, where to go, great recomendations on restaurants. We will be back. There is so much we did not see on the Island. We will stay at Anchor point on our next trip and look forward to enjoing all the great amenties it has to offer. Thanks again Ralph and Lynn for a most enjoyable 2 days. Aug 16 & 17 Libby & Wayne
Unbelievable - # 1 in our books
We have stayed at many B@B's but have never stayed at one like Anchor Point. Lynn and Ralph thought of every possible detail that a guest would want on a holiday. From the 3 course gourmet breakfasts, to the endless cookie jar, movies, music, hot tub and then the beautifully appointed bedroom that left nothing to be desired. Our room had every detail that I wished my own bedroom would have! Thank you Lynn and Ralph for making our holiday so memorable. We hope one day to return!
Best B & B in the World!
Anchor Point is by far the best B & B I've found anywhere in the world: east coast, west coast, US, Canada, Europe, you name it. The setting is quiet, lovely, relaxing, and near town. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The common areas are relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable from the soft background music, to the Video / DVD room, to the hot tub, breakfast porch, and deck. But what makes Anchor Point stand out is quite simply the proprietors: Lynn and Ralph Bischoff. Yes, the are gracious, completely knowledgeable about the events, locales, and personalities of the island. Yes, they welcome you warmly and are discrete and available. Yes, they can speak in a variety of language, about a huge range of topics, and with serious tones or jolly good humor. Yet it is the caring, gentle nature of these folk that makes this truly a place I hate to leave. And to top that: Lynn is the Julia Child of Breakfast. If you want more than that, give it up. It doesn't exist.
Re: Fabulous!
Anchor Point B & B is a fabulous place to stay. The house is lovely - both inside and out. The owners have taken great care in making sure your stay is both memorable and special: daily newspapers, a fantastic array of books and movies, sherry and appetizers at 5pm, slippers and terry cloth robes, three course breakfasts - yum! I could go on and on. We loved our room. It was a lovely, well furnished and comfortable space (especially the four poster bed!) It was a lot of fun to snuggle up and watching movies with popcorn and cookies - provided by our hosts. But what I liked especially is that you are not limited to your room. Guests can freely access the entire upstairs portion of the house. There is a really cozy sitting room, tv room, kitchen and outside porch. The owners live downstairs in a separate private suite, so it is like having the house all to yourself! The view from the house is spectacular. And it is especially enjoyable when viewing from the hot tub! The owners are very knowledgeable about the island and they are happy to give you advice on the best places to eat and visit. I also loved the proximity of the house to Ganges (essentially the centre of Salt Spring activity). We are definitely going to go back. It was a very romantic and relaxing experience.
Best B & B ever
My husband and I stayed at the Anchor Pt. B & B for 4 nights in late June. It is one of the nicest B & B's we have ever stayed in. The innkeepers were very friendly and unbelievably knowledgeable about everything and everyone on Salt Spring Island. The accommodations were wonderful and the food was the best I have ever had at a B & B - and I have traveled extensively for over 40 years. They serve a gourmet three course breakfast and then provide you with a bag to take all the leftover baked goods to munch on the rest of the day. There are only two rooms so there is lots of privacy. They also provide the entire living room and the TV room for guests only - and the TV room has over 800 videos and DVDs. They provide microwave popcorn and a cookie jar full of the best cookies you have ever eaten for movie watching. The B & B is walking distance from Ganges (although the walk home is uphill) which is a charming village with wonderful shops and restaurants. And don't miss the Saturday Market. We loved Salt Spring Island and this B & B and will defintely return to both.
Ancho Point B & B! A Must!
Anchor Point Bed and Breakfast on Saltspring Island is clearly a labour of love for the proprietors Ralph and Lynn Bischoff. The hospitality they offer is only outdone by the beautiful and peaceful surroundings they have created for their guests. Much care and planning have gone in to providing guests with privacy, amenities and comfort. Anchor Point hosts only two suites of guests at a time, making it feel like an elegant and restful home away from home! The multi-course, silver service breakfasts are works of art. Lynn and Ralph are clearly an excellent working team. Lynn's culinary talents are obvious and Ralph's knowledge and interest in the area made our time at Anchor Point a most enriching experience. I would be happy to return to Anchor Point at any time and would heartily recommend it to all.
Top notch in every way
My wife and I spent 5 nights recently at the Anchor Point B & B. We felt entirely welcome, and we were hosted by a very interesting and gracious couple. The food was beyond excellent, the bedroom was spacious and comfortable with lovely ocean inlet views, and we were given attentive but unintrusive service. The nightly rate includes use of a living room (seating and reading area), a small but comfortable video viewing room (with an enormous selection of VHS tapes and dvds) and access to a kitchen area for refreshments at any time. Excellent value for very fine accomodation, and so highly recommended.
The Best
We have stayed in a lot of bed and breakfasts over the last few years and Anchor Point is absolutely the best. There are only two rooms, which makes it very warm and intimate. The owners make two floors of their lovely home available, so we feel very comfortable there. From Lynn's gourmet three-course breakfasts and Ralph's morning briefings on what there is to do in Salt Spring, to evening appetizers and sherry, everything is perfect. Every possible need has been anticipated. We have visited them a number of times, and with every visit we truly feel as if we are coming home.
