Fundraiser Wine Scool

Luca and Matteo conducted a wine school for 87 people who were supporting SLU VB and SB teams. With there help we raised over 9k for the teams. Wines were exceptional, Luca and Matteo made it memorable. We have conducted the classes in our home twice and a fundraiser annually. Friendly and easy to work with.

A tourist trap

Feel free if you want tp pay 17 Euros for 6 slices of small bread (and small means really small in this case!) with a small toppings - they call it bruschetta. I've paid 30, 5 for that + an aperol spritz (what was OK) + a gin tonic where I did not feel the gin. A classic tourist trap!

Wine Tasting and Food Tour in Immaculate Siena

If you venture into Siena, I would highly recommend setting up a wine tasting and food tour through the Tuscan Wine School. Our host and guide, Elio, was very good, and provided us a good perspective of wines and olive oils throughout the Tuscan region. Learning about the local Contradas was also very interesting. To add, Siena was by far, one of the cleanest, if not the cleanest city we visited in Italy.

Siena ❤

Servizio eccellente, veloce e cortese. Prodotti genuini della tradizione toscana, ottima selezione di vini. Prezzi in linea con la location e con la qualità delle materie prime. Torneremo ❤

A well curated tour.. a beautiful escape!

I'd like to thank you for creating a remarkable day for me in the rolling hills of Tuscany. The half day tour I'd signed up for covered beautiful destinations like Chiusure Montepulciano and Pienza. It was fortuitous to have great weather.. a wonderful driver and tour guide in Georgia! She's so friendly and knowledgeable. One was constantly learning from her about many things even as we drove along the countryside. And the countryside is a piece of heaven on earth. I envy you all for that 😄. I'll be back for sure and will count on Tuscan Escapes for more magical memories. Grazie mille.. ciao! Kind regards Vidur Kumar

Esperienza positiva

Siamo finiti qui dopo un pessimo aperitivo consumato da Manganelli in Piazza del Campo. Ragazzi simpatici e piatti / taglieri / vini semplici ma buoni.

What a wonderful wine tour!

We did the Brunello do Montalcino (small group tour) Wine Tasting Tour. It was wonderful! Mattia was so knowledgeable and fun and we learned so much. Three vineyards which were all so different. We enjoyed all three. It made for a very full day. Included was lunch at Cava d Onice which was wonderful. Each winemaker helped us learn and shared their passion with us. I'd do it again.

Aperitivo

Heerlijke lunch in Siena

Heerlijke lunch. Vriendelijk personeel. De panini's zijn een aanrader en natuurlijk prachtige wijnen. Het is een smal straatje met natuurlijke schaduw.

Guillermo is a great guide to Tuscany

We had a great full day tour leaving from Sienna. We visited three different wineries, had a wonderful home made lunch at a beautiful restored villa, and visited Montalcinno a walled city. Guillermo was our host and he kept things lively and entertaining. So good that we impromptu booked another tour for the next day with the company. Cannot recommend enough.

Love Tuscany and Wine!

My husband and I participated in several wine tasting, pairing, blind tasting and vineyard tours through the Tuscan Wine School and Tuscan Escapes. What an amazing group of dedicated, experienced, knowledgeable and fun people! They have a true passion for wi e, sharing their knowledge so that we actually earned how to describe what we like (& don't like), how to enjoy wine with and without food, the process to make / export / distribute wine and so much more. Our tours (Brunello and Monteriggioni hike) were among the best we have ever done! We love Georgia! She is a walking encyclopedia of all things Siena history / culture and an ability to really teach about wine. She will answer any question, find a solution to every problem, challenge you to learn, and make sure you enjoying! She is a pleasure! We could listen to Daniele talk about all things wine all day long! He knows everything from the agriculture of each variety to how to describe to what makes a wine exceptional in a relatable but passion-filled way, & can drive a van to the most beautiful places you will ever see. Mauritsio shared wine in a small tasting room in Monteriggioni and paired it with so many wonderful flavors, we loved every minute. He recommended the place next door for lunch and joined us to drink more wine and made an unforgettable day!

Inhospitable

As this is a wine bar and not a restaurant - as the owner made very clear to us - we sat down at one of the available tables outside. As no one was around to take any order, I went inside and found the owner behind her computer. She looked at me quizzically and I the told her we would like to order some wine and a little bite. Her reaction amazed me: she told me that maybe where I am from this is a habit, but in Italy you first come in to ask if there is a table available. Even if this were the case, I was flabbergasted by this demeaning and unpleasant attitude. While I am fluent in Italian the owner kept talking to me in English. My husband and I sat next to each other, which evoked another reprimand: this way we were occupying two tables. As the place was almost closing, this was not a problem at all, but apparently she had to make her point. After we finished our cheese and wine, the owner sat down having a coffee with one of her neighbors. There were no more tables occupied at that time. Eventually she cleared our table. The wine the owner recommended was nice, but she was very unwelcoming and unpleasant, without any good reason. We won't ever go back here.

Brunello Wine Revelation

Am I am back in my home office after a wonderful long weekend in the heart Tuscany, Siena. Last Friday (02 / 07), by luck, call it being in the right place at the right time with a helping of spontaneity, I joined the " Brunello Wine Tour " offered by the Tuscan Wine School. Already the drive down from Siena to Montalcino was a great learning experience, as our guide, Giorgia, was a fountain of knowledge about the wine and the history of the region. After a short stop and espresso in Montalcino, the capital of the " Brunello " -wine, we were taken to taste the wines of three different vineyards. The first bio-dynamic, with a specialty of bonsai-vines, to achieve faster, deeper roots. The second organic, where were invited into the winemakers home for lunch enjoying his great wines with Pici (typical regional pasta) and Panna Cota. The third, a larger vineyard with a novelty for me: Rossato, which I had never tasted before in Tuscany. We started at 9:30am in the morning and arrived back in Siena at around 6:30pm, happy, more knowledgable about and respect for the winemaking process in challenging terrain, which makes the wine all the better. For someone who has done wine tours in the past, this was ***** cinque stelle (five stars) and I can recommend to everyone who loves wine (and everyone who wants to learn). PS: And the joy of that day will continue, because I ordered some wines from two of the three cellars which should arrive in the next couple of weeks.

Amazing tour

We had a great tour with Georgia which starts at her little wine shop. We tried some wine and typical Tuscan specialties. After that we walked trough beautiful Siena and learned some interesting facts about the city and the history. During our walk we tried other snacks. The tour ended back in the shop with dessert and an special Balsamico. Because there are not many tourists in Siena because of Covid you maybe will also have the chance to get a private tour like us. It was a pleasure to meet you, Georgia. You do a really good job with a lot of passion for food! Falko & Lisa

Nice Aperitivo in Siena!

We were there for a nice aperitivo in the beautiful Siena city! The wines are really good! You can give your preferences and they advice you the best wines. Very nice staff! The food is really tasty too! It is in the city center but not too crowded in a cute place. Few tables only. I recommend this place.

Great wine-tasting experience

We really enjoyed our wine lesson with Georgia. We tasted some great wines, and the cheeses and meats were a great accompaniment. Georgia was so knowledgable about the wines, and many other things - including the best place to get ice cream in Siena. It was very relaxed, friendly and informal. It was a really great experience.

Geslaagd!!! 🧑🎓👩🎓🧑🎓🧑🎓

A Taste Of Siena

We had a wonderful time at our " taste of Siena " class. Our guide was knowledgable, informative and personable. We loved learning about and tasting the wines, cheeses, honey, olive oil, and truffles that Siena is known for. I would heartily recommend taking this class as a great introduction to food and drink in Siena.

2018-10-26 18:19:51

A nice learning experience

This class was included when we booked a 4 day wine tour through grape tours. The class was a great introduction to the wines we would be experiencing on our tours. We learned a lot about the requirements and regulations for winemaking and labeling. We also tasted some really good wines. I would recommend taking this class before you go wine tasting in Tuscany as I think it improved our experience

2018-10-08 08:58:15

Awesome tour!

This tour was the one recommend in the Rick Steve's Italy book. We researched and found another one that was less expensive but I'm glad we went on this one! Tina was very informative and the description on the site is as described. Small intimate group and awesome tasting. Came hungry and left full! Enjoyed some lovely wine, tasted and learned about olive oil, bread, cheese, wine, meats and yummy yummy gelato! Would definitely recommend!

Taste of Sienna

We really enjoyed our food and wine tasting with the Tuscan Wine school. Our guide / sommelier wa knowledgeable and shared many details on quality indicators for wine, olive oil and other products of the region.

Best wine class ever

We had a GREAT moment with the Tuscan wine school. 6 (very generous) tastings, tons of informations, easy going, nothing snobbish. I recommend this class before you go visiting tuscan wineries.

Great way to start a wine tour!

We began our excursion in Tuscany with Tina at the Tuscan Wine School in Siena. Convenient location and relatively small class size made for an enjoyable and educational kickoff to our week. While we obviously learned a lot by going to the wineries themselves, this introductory course gave us the right background to be able to ask better questions and did so at a pace which ensured understanding. Highly recommended.

Fabulous introduction to what Tuscany has to offer!

After reading an article in the Sydney Morning Herald travel section on Siena which mentioned The Tuscan Wine School and the " Savor Siena " experience, I decided to book my husband and myself into the class on our visit to Siena. Best decision I could have made! We arrived at the designated time and were greeted by Tina. It turned out we were the only couple attending that day (good for us.... more wine and food) due to being out of the holiday / peak season. We tried regional wines, cheeses, breads, olive oils, balsamic vinegars, truffle paste with Tina giving expert information on everything we tasted. All our questions were answered with great knowledge and passion. We then did a walk around the local area tasting meats, pizza and gelato before returning to the school to finish off our experience with dessert wine, chocolates and of course Siena panforte..... yum! A fabulous two hours well spent! Congratulations all the team at Tuscan Wine School. You have a " winner " here!

Excellent Two Hour Introduction to Wines of Tuscany

Outstanding quick start to understand the wines of the region - basic introduction to the history and wine regulations of the region. And then there is the tasting, tips on how to assess wines and opportunity to taste classic examples from the region. We've used this exposure to choose wines to accompany meals as well as a shorthand way to select the regions to visit. Upon request, the sommelier who taught the class shared a list of her favorite local vineyards to visit. I would recommend this course to those with limited time in Tuscany who desire a wine experience and those who wish to direct their time to those wines most appealing to them.

2018-08-29 04:34:35

Well worth a visit

Excellent presentation from a very knowledgeable Tina who answered a barrage of questions with skill. We tasted 6 lovely wines and learned a lot about the region, its wines, their history, how to taste and describe wine, and lots more.

Grading the Various Types of Wine

The Comrieds found the Tuscan Wine School extremely informative and helpful. We hadn't gone to a school such as this before. We will find the grading and testing techniques very useful in the selection of wine. And since we are visiting the Tuscany area primarily we now can make better wine selections. Finally, the young lady who gave the lecture was extremely well versed in Italian wines and did very informative presentation.

Tuscan Clasics Wine Class

Great history of Italian wine making including modern day growing regions. Tasted approximately 7 wines accompanied with bread and cheese. The sampled wines were excellent and moderately priced. This is a " must do " if you travel to Tuscany.

2018-08-21 16:07:31

Excellent wine school

We had a very informative and enjoyable afternoon. The lady teaching was up for questions and made things very interesting.

2018-07-25 11:54:59

Very Informative

Took the two-hour wine tasting course in a small group of about seven people. Tasted several really nice wines, and learned a lot about the history of wines in the region and the Italian system of wine grading. It helped a lot when we traveled to other regions of Italy and tasted wines to know how the grading system worked. I'd recommend this for anyone who doesn't want to spend a whole day touring but would still like to sample wines from the region.

2018-07-22 07:18:29

Great Experience

The Tuscan wine school was a great experience. We tasted a number of great wines from the region and the instructor was excellent. This was one of our trip highlights.

2018-07-15 14:35:56

Great food tasting tour!

My husband and I totally enjoyed our afternoon Tuscan food tour with Tina. She is very knowledgeable and we still talk about the incredible foods we tasted walking around with her in Siena. Highly recommend!!

2018-07-15 12:06:26

Beautiful day in Siena

This was the perfect introduction to olive oils, wine and Siena. It was a small group of (4) and we were greeted warmly by the local merchants. I signed up for the tasting tour- and was not expecting a full wine tour. It was well done.

Getting to the Heart of Montepulciano

For several years my wife and I have enjoyed Montepulciano wines from Tuscany at two of our favorite restaurants. To learn first-hand about some of these Vino Nobile wines from a master sommelier in one of Tuscany's loveliest hilltop villages was a great treat and a break from the visits to cathedrals, all of which are beautiful, but don't offer the same sustenance as we enjoyed here!

2018-07-08 20:46:14

Great Experience

We were four guys on a weekend trip celebrating a 40th birthday. The course exceeded our expectations! We'd looked at doing a wine tour but glad we didn't as this way we got to taste and learn about lots of really good wines (and I mean really good!) from the whole Tuscan region instead of just one or two vineyards. We were told loads of stuff about Italian wines in a really interesting way and had loads of fun doing it! On top of that the cheese and meat nibbles we were provided with the wines were terrific. Great value, great fun. If you are planning a trip to Florence put this on your itinerary!

2018-07-08 18:33:01

Such a fun stop! Good for experts and wine newbies alike

So glad we ended up doing this while staying in Tuscany. A nice break from just window shopping at tourist shops, and we learned so much! I was afraid it would be a little too beginner-style (i. e. the difference between red and white), but it ended up being great mix so wine newbies and experts alike got a ton out of the class. Highly recommended!!

Savor Sienna Tour

Great Experience and value!! Definitely book this tour. You won't be disappointed! I attended with my husband in June. There was a family of 5 and another couple on our tour. Everyone was friendly and we had a great time. Our sommelier was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The School consisted of a taste of some meats, cheeses, local honey, sienna bread with seasoning, two types of truffles and some bakery items. We tasted olive oils and balsamic vinegars. We had a sparkling wine, a Chianti wine and a dessert wine. With each new food or drink item there was some education on how things are made, what different labeling means, the history behind the food and general food knowledge. We left the location to walk to a butcher shop for multiple samples, a gelato shop where we learned about what to look for to find the best gelato. We sampled about 6 flavors and then got a cup of frozen yogurt. We finished our tour with a slice of a different style of pizza that was fabulous!! Then back to the school to finish some of what was listed above. The experience was fun, educational and we'd have done another tour with this company if we'd been in Sienna longer. Our guide and sommelier was well versed on all the selections and the quality of the food samples was top of the line! Another reviewer stated " The experience was in no way a substitute for a meal. " and it's not advertised as a meal but it certainly was our lunch that day as we did not go away hungry. On a side note, we bought some seasoned salt from the tasting which I can't wait to try. You can buy wines, oils and vinegars to ship home at very reasonable rates but there was no hard sale for that which was appreciated.

2018-06-05 08:28:15

Exactly what I was looking for

During our trip to Tuscany, I wanted to learn more about Tuscan wine, and wine tasting in general. This course was perfect. It was a great introduction for the novice, while still being informative and useful for the intermediate wine aficionado. I learned more about wine in 2 hours than I have in all my previous reading. Excellent course.

2018-05-22 12:49:24

Great tour!

Did their San Gimignano tour.. great tour guide! He made this wonderful experience even better. Loved the tastings and the lunch at the vineyard was delicious!

2018-05-20 11:46:10

Good Experience, Poor Value

Attended with 7 friends in May. Our sommelier was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The School consisted of a taste of some cheeses and honey and a white and red wine, along with some education on each. Then a walk for some small samples of charcuterie, pizza and gelato. Then back to the school for some dessert wine. The experience was a good one: It was educational and the quality of the food samples was high. But, everyone in my group was disappointed at the value. $50 pp seemed pretty steep for 3 glasses of wine and very small samples of food. The experience was in no way a substitute for a meal. And we all expected that Wine School would entail more depth and breadth of wine tasting.

2018-05-04 03:23:00

Worthwhile introduction to the foods of Sienna

Tasty introduction to the basics of local cuisine. Guide was knowledgeable and helpful. Good for novices in particular - covers a lot of ground in a short amount of time (two hours).

2018-05-01 08:59:21

Great introduction to Tuscany

We booked this school at the beginning to our tour of Tuscany and wanted to get background on the regional wines. It was right on topic! Our instructor was from Sweden but she spoke excellent English and her interactions were full of useful information. The environment was small enough to allow meaningful Q & A and shared experiences. Highly recommend this be part of your intinery in Tuscany.

2018-04-26 07:50:09

Merveilleux!

Accueil chaleureux, degustations variées et généreuses. Découverte plusieurs endroits dans la ville, nous le recommandons chaudement pour débuter un séjour à Siena.

2018-04-18 13:14:04

Great wines and lots of awesome info

My wife booked our tasting less than 24 hours in advance, but it was such a great find. Tina guided us through the history and regions of Tuscan wine, while providing tastings of delicious examples. We were lucky enough to be the only people there which let us ask as many questions as we wanted. This was not our first tasting experience and we still learned a great deal about, not just Tuscan wines but tastings in general. Very enjoyable and delicious.

2018-04-15 15:36:33

Really enjoyed Savor Siena

Four of us did the tour and found it very informative and interesting. We spent some time inside learning about wines and different foods, and then did a bit of a walking tour to visit a butcher shop for samples of different meats and a small gelato shop for tastings of pretty much every flavor imaginable. We also visited a small restaurant nearby to try some ciaccini. All in all, an interesting and tasty way to spend a few hours and learn a few new things about truffles, olive oil, breads, etc.

2018-04-14 12:36:52

Private wine tasting

Unexpected private class from Tina. She was really open to questions and we learnt a lot. Of course what you want to know is how were the wines? They were excellent, 1 white, 4 red and 1 dessert. I absolutely recommend this course and in particular Tina who is knowledgable, fun and interesting.

2018-04-03 06:14:41

Fun experience with friends; grazie mille / tack så mycket, Tina!

Seven friends and I attended Tina's class the day before we took a wine tour in Tuscany, and we're so glad we did! She taught the class with the perfect balance of information and fun. We learned about the wines of the region, the various categorizations and what's required to achieve them, the different properties of grapes, etc. -- all of which made the following day's wine tour (with a separate company) much more interesting and valuable. I loved that Tina responded to our group dynamic, joking and laughing with us as we got progressively sillier, but still keeping control of the class. She has the perfect demeanor to teach a class like this, and we all loved her. Grazie mille / tack så mycket, Tina!

Rekommenderas!

Rekommenderar alla att boka en guidad tur till olika vingårdar i Toscana! Så otroligt vackert, intressant och fantastiskt gott vin! Vi bokade en halvdags tur med " Tuscan Wine School in Florence " och var väldigt nöjda

2017-11-03 17:35:47

Great experience

We booked the Tuscan Wine School for our first day in Siena and I'm so glad we did. We had no clue about Italian wines. This set us up for our time in Tuscany so we knew what we were ordering and enjoying!

2017-11-02 16:11:55

Savour Siena

2h walking tour sampling local delicacies in Siena. Cheese, cold cuts, wine, ice cream, coffee at various incredible small businesses in town, Sofia was a brilliant guide. Great fun and well worth the money.

2017-11-01 09:16:51

Fantastic introduction to Tuscan Wines

Sofia, our host, is amazing. She is so passionate about Siena, in particular the food and wine. Following the wine course, I immediately booked for the next wine tour available because Sofia's passion is infectious and I wanted to experience more. The group was small and therefore you get to meet people (I'm a solo traveler so this was a bonus). If in Siena, you must drop in to the Tuscan Wine School.

2017-10-22 04:01:47

Make this your first stop in Tuscany!

My mom and I had the BEST time at Tuscan Wine School. Our instructor Sophia was wonderful. She was energetic and excited to share her knowledge about wine. She spoke very clear English and was easy to understand. The school taught us everything we needed to know about wine in tuscany and gave us the knowledge we needed to further explore wine at vineyards and restaurants for the rest of our trip. We sampled 5 different wines and learned so much in the process. We also had some snacks that paired well with the wine and learned about how food pairing works with wines in Tuscany. Don't miss this opportunity for a wonderful time. It was priced well and very worth the money. Thank you Sophia!

2017-10-21 09:01:01

Fabulous a must in Siena

Sofia was out host and there were eight of us in our group plus a couple of others. Speaking for our group of eight from Australia we absolutely loved this tour. Sofia was a mine of information about the produce of Siena and district. Food history was very interesting too, as was the reason people from Siena are not fond of people from Pisa! All very interesting, a very professional company right from when first email was sent.

2017-10-18 02:10:37

Fabulous Savor Siena Tour!

I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys good food! Did you know that mounded gelato is not the best? Why Tuscan bread is bland? We learned about Tuscan no-salt bread, pecorino cheeses, deli meats, ciaccina, coffee, and gelato on the walking part of the your.... and of course tasted! At the wine school location we learned about olive oil, balsamic vinegar and truffles (tasted black and white truffle paste). And of course we taste two excellent local wines. Our tour happened to be two American couples and our guide spoke perfect English! A great way to spend a couple of hours in Siena!

2017-10-04 08:38:55

Great Siena Food Tour

Our group was guided by Sofia on the Siena Food Tour on the last week of September, 2017. We tasted delicious ciaccina (hot prosciutto and cheese pizza snack sandwiched between thin fococia-like bread), visited a deli and tasted 5 kinds of pecorino cheese and different salami and meats at a tiny place hidden behind a lot of purple bougenvilla, great espresso and macchiato and finally excellent gelato where we tried at least 5 generous samples of made from scratch goodness. Then it was back to the Tuscan Wine School store for more tastings of wine, Modena balsamic vinegar, olive oil and truffle paste! It was a great way to learn more about the region's best food and get to know more about Tuscany.

Amazing class!!! Highly recommend!

My husband and I did the 2 hour wine class and we LOVED it! We can't say enough about this place. The host was so friendly and had so much knowledge of the wine we tasted as well as throughout Italy and the process to make the wine. We learned so much and really enjoyed ourselves here. I would love to go back and do another class with her!

2 Hour Siena Tour

Lovely, knowledgable tour guide. Great exposure to restaurants, flavors, gelato in Siena. Recommend this tour within your first day or two upon arrival. We experienced this tour the day we left which saddened us to not be able to return to some of the restaurants we were introduced during the tour.

2017-09-24 15:23:36

Highly entertaining and informative

We thoroughly enjoyed the class. Out host was very knowledgeable but it was her involvement and effort to engage and entertain that made the class thoroughly enjoyable. What a wonderful way to engage with Tuscany in addition to visiting the sites and sounds, etc.

Tuscan wine appreciation

We booked this on line in a very easy booking process. The tutor was lively, interesting and very informative. The wines and oil we tasted illustrated the differences in the main classifications and the explanation about Super Tuscans very clear. Overall the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

The Savor Siena class was a delight

We took Savor Siena with Sofia and truly loved it. It's a joy to hear someone passionate talk about what they love. In Sofia's case her passion is food and wine and she talks about it with joy that cannot help but be shared with her clients. We learned about and tried all sorts of food as well as two wines. She asked about food restrictions and didn't bat an eye when my mom and I said we are vegetarian and my husband said he has a carrot allergy. Another person in our group that day had true Celiac's and was accommodated as well. The vegetarians were warned that we would be visiting a place that sold meat and talking about traditional cultural meats but this was fine for us. Learning about Tuscan food seemed like it was the perfect thing to do in Italy, where for American tourists (probably others, too) so much of the magic and culture of the country is conveyed in food. It was great to dig deep into a particular region and learn, for example, why Tuscans do not use salt in their bread. There was some pretty minimal walking but my mom turned out to have some unexpected mobility issues on our trip Sofia noticed it and made sure we went at an ok pace while still finishing up on time. It was kind (special shout out to the other couple in our group who were so nice and also waited up for my mom). I would recommend this tour to anyone who has already hit the main tourist attractions in Siena and is ready for a fun, informative class about delicious and historical foods. And we all got plenty to eat--the class takes place over lunchtime and served as lunch for us.

So much information !

A great way to spend an evening in picturesque Siena. Our host Sofia was so entertaining and a wealth of information about the intricacies of wine in Italy. Along with hikarious side notes about understanding the culture and costs of Italian wine. We tasted six wines along with some local bread and cheese. A really comprehensive couple of hours. We left armed with knowledge about labelling and grading of different regions and styles. Worth every penny spent !

Fantastic experience

Based on Trip Adviser reviews, we booked the class for a party of six whilst we were in Tuscany for our wedding. It was such an informative and interesting class. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the wines we tried.

Degustar, viajar e estudar

A very nice experience !

The course was so nice. The ambiance, wines e the teacher Sofie that know much about Touscan Wines and has a very good and funny way to teach. I strongly reconend it.

Excellent Tour - both food and wine

Three friends did this together and loved every minute. We've taken many food tours over the years, and really enjoyed this. Also, we learned about local wine, mushrooms and received some good restaurant tips. It was a drizzly day, and our guide kept her good humor throughout. The only tiny disappointment was that the gelato store we were to visit was closed, with no notice to our guide. Typical of Italians, she more than made up for it by taking us back to the shop and plying us with a lovely sweet wine and biscotti. Lucky for us, we'd been to the gelato store the day before and returned the next day. Highly recommend - arrive hungry.

Savor Siena

This was our second time visiting the Tuscan Wine School. The first time we did a the Tuscan wines class and this time we decided to do the savor Siena. The class was great, we got to visit the local shops and sample local food we would have not tried otherwise. Our guide Sarah was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys food and wine.

The Best Wine Tasting in Italy

This is a wonderful wine tasting / wine shop. Informative, interesting and most of all really fun. Our tasting teacher, Rebecca, had such a fantastic way of making the wines come alive to all of us. We come to Tuscany once a year and always do a wine tasting with our clients- it is always the highlight of our trip. Thanks Tuscan Wine School for an amazing experience. PS be sure to bring some extra cash- you'll want to buy some of their great wine after the tasting!

2011-08-28 09:44:36

A highlight of our time in Siena, especially the walking tour-Taste of Siena

We actually did two sessions-- the 2 hour walking tour Taste of Siena and the 2 hour tasting class in the school itself. For both sessions, we had Maria Louisa, who was gracious, outgoing, and extremely talented at teaching us about wine and about some of the foods of Siena. There were 4 of us, including 2 teenage boys, and we all were engaged and entertained for all of both sessions. The Taste of Siena walking tour was particularly fun. You have the ability to go into shops, meet artisans, and learn things that you would have no possibility of doing otherwise-- and the food is pretty spectacular as well.

Taste of Siena walking tour fabulous tuscan experience!

A wonderful way to experience Siena! Rebecca is a lovely soul full of life, love, and laughter. From a bit of old city market history to Sienese living this gal made us feel right at home. Sampling meats and cheeses at Gino Cuccino's shop and hearing curing processes made our samples taste much better. Moving on to desserts and coffee shops we enjoyed Panforte and espresso. Topping the tour off at her Tuscan Wine School at Via Stalloreggi, 26 we tasted olive oil, balsamic, honey, and several wines, learning about grapes of the region. This tour is very affordable and a must!

2011-08-26 10:34:32

A must do attraction!

My husband and I plus 3 adult children and spouses attended the evening Tuscan wine session and had such a great time. Our teacher, Maria Louisa, a wine producer herself, was knowledgable and spoke impeccable English. A great learning experience with good wine and food. We can see why it is so highly rated on Trip Adviser.

2011-07-14 07:16:54

nteresting, informative and fun at the Tuscan Wine School

My friend and I had a really informative, fun, interesting lesson with Rebecca. From knowing zero about italian wines we learnt so much. We could use later when buying wine, and it felt great to be able to read the wine labels and to make a good choice. We would recommend it to anyone visiting the beautiful city fo Siena.

2011-07-11 11:56:17

Fabulous for everyone who loves Wine

Whether know much about wine or not, this is a fabulous way to find out more about Tuscan wines for every level of wine lover. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon and this has helped us hugely with our wine choices now we are back home.

2011-11-23 02:17:07

SIMPLY EDUCATIONAL AND VERY INFORMATIVE

Must have a map to find the School however once you are arrive you can settle in to a very informative session. Truly opened our eyes about the Quality and Taste of Italian Wines. Atmosphere is so relaxing. Quality of the instruction is exceptional and very understandable. Turned out to be one of our surprise stops on our recent vacation which we both thoroughly enjoyed.

2011-06-02 12:10:06

Fantastic

I thought I knew about wine, but this took it to a whole new level. The wines were delicious. Maria Louisa was extremely friendly and knowledgable. The time flew by. I absolutely loved it. Much better than expected.

2012-01-05 07:53:08

Superb

Maria, the person conducting the tour was in wonderful. We did the 4-6 pm 2 hour tour and although expensive, both my wife and I agree that it was worth every penny. Maria owns the winery, is very knowledgable and was excellent in every aspect. If you only do one tour make this the one.

2011-08-25 17:56:22

So much fun!

Our group of four had a fantastic time at the wine tasting class... we all love wine, but didn't really know much about all the different kinds... it was tasty AND informative!

2011-07-17 07:35:04

one of the cooler things I did in Sienna

Marialuisa and Franco (bonus guest instructer for the day) were the most excellent people to talk to. They opened up their shop and their way of life to us and made us feel welcome in Sienna. I thought it was really cool to learn from an actual wine maker as well. No regrets taking this class at all, learned a lot and had a great time. Highly recommended! Kelly & Nate, class of 07 / 07 / 2011

2011-11-03 10:08:26

Go here first when visiting Tuscany!!

A great place to visit alone or with friends, very entertaining. I was lucky to visit upon two occasions last month with seperate groups of friends, all enjoyed themselves and thought it was two hours well spent. We all came out with a good knowledge of Italian wines and winetasting which we were then able to put to good use. Excellant entertainment and good value for money.

2011-11-21 09:58:33

Best part of our trip!!

We had so much fun and learned so much about tuscany! Very good english speaking with a nice italian accent, very good wines and acid balsamic and cheese and bread and olive oil and chocolate!!!!!!!! Advice: give yourself extra time to park and walk.. parking is far away and very busy! But you have to try it!

2010-11-03 07:01:50

Short introductory lecture

This was a knowledgeable informative accessible and charming introductory canter into the field of Italian wines (and also olive oil and balsamic vinegar)

2011-12-15 00:00:51

The " Taste of Siena " tour was most interesting & diverse

The escorted tour, by Maria allowed us (3 American ladies & myself) to sample typical products of the Sienese region. Before leaving the " classroom " Maria discussed the different types of virgin olive oil from the region. We walked from there to a Gastronomica located in a side street off the Campo. We met the owner, Gino, whose business specialized in pecorino fresca (young sheep's cheese) & pecorino stagionato (aged longer than 6 months) prosciutto (from the back leg of the Cinta pig, which is bred in open fields) & salame. (two types-Toscana, flavoured with red wine, garlic, peppercorns & Finocchiona, flavoured with fennel seeds) Some of Gino's Parmesan cheese weighed 40lbs & had been maturing for 5 years or more. Samples of the former four, were tastefully arranged on plates on a high table in the gastronomica. All were delicious. It is interesting to note that Gino makes the " whips " for the Palio races. Each has a different coloured ball reflecting the different neighbourhoods of Siena taking part in the race. From there we walked to a gelateria where we sampled two non-milk gelatos & one made with milk This is probably the best gelateria in Siena. All gelaterias close by the end of October. Our next stop was a family run bakery, where we sampled 2 kinds of panforte. Each contained almonds, honey, candied fruits & spices. One had a white sugar coating & was less spicy than the other. We also sampled some soft biscuits made from marzipan & a hard cookie, which the locals dip in red wine to soften them!!! On our return to the " classroom " we sampled some wines including a dessert wine (Vine Nobile) balsamic vinegar (just delicious. I bought a bottle!!!) & different types of honey. A most interesting tour which should not be missed if visiting Siena in the future. One should have good walking shoes & a camera to take photos in each of the venues. The tour takes between 1 & 2 hours to complete. I enjoyed my visit to the gastronomica & the " classroom " best.

We loved our Siena Walking Tour!

We took a brief stop in Siena on our way to Montepulciano to enjoy the Siena Walking Tour. It was 40 Euro / person for the two-hour tour starting at noon. Sarah was our guide; she was very helpful and informative. We were a small group of 12, which made it easy to hear. We walked to 3 local shops. The tour started with a cheese / meat shop, then we visited a cafe, and last we tasted treats at a little bakery. At the end, the group returned to the Tuscan Wine School to taste bread, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, truffles, honey, chocolate and wine. You will not leave here hungry. Helpful Hints: We did get rained on, so we were grateful to have brought umbrellas. And although the shops aren't that far from each other, it would be helpful to have walking shoes on the beautiful but uneven cobblestone streets. Make sure to bring your camera as well! We called ahead to ask about parking. Rebecca informed us of a parking garage within 5 minutes walking distance of the Wine School. Parking can be tricky in Italian cities, but they gave us great, clear advice. Even though we weren't in Siena all that long, we definitely feel like we got the to see and taste the best parts.

One of the highlights of our trip. Great fun, great wine and very informative!

Our Tuscan Wine Tasting course was one of the best choices we made during our trip. We had a great time with some great wines and even used our knowledge the next evening and chose a great bottle to go with our meal. I would highly recommend taking one of the courses to anyone traveling to Siena and interested to know about Tuscan wines. Not only did we learn about wines but we explored how they go well with certain types of food. Thanks a million!

Tasting all Siena has to offer!

We took the " Taste of Siena " tour from the Tuscan Wine School. Our host, Marie Louisa is a charming guide who obviously loves the traditions and the history of the Tuscan region. As we visited several different artisanal shops, we learned a great deal from her as we tasted typical Tuscan meats, olive oils and desserts, sipping wine and strong Italian coffee to accompany it all. It was a lovely morning, well paced and an easy going walk from shop to shop. We would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about traditional Tuscan foods, wines and oils. Thank you Marie Louise

Now I sound like I know something about wine

This was a great 2 hour introduction to wine. Before the class I knew next to nothing. Riika is entertaining and educated. The wine, bread, olive oil, cheese and the stories is a wonderful combination. I learned so much about Tuscany, its wine, the differences in grapes, what to look for and what to avoid. My sister, partner and I had a great time with Riika. Plus, we were introduced to wonderful wines we would not have known about--drank them up over the time we spent in Siena--with bread, olive oil and cheese--new way to eat supper. I recommend the class to anyone with even a passing interest in wine. The stories alone are worth the price of admission. Grazie and cin-cin! Joan, Betsy (Lakewood, OH) and Jan (Denver, CO).

2011-05-10 13:18:42

Wonderful!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2 hour class and the 6 different wines we tried. The snacks were great too; we discovered a new cheese we liked. We learned quite a bit about the wine, grapes, Italian wine rating system and areas of Italy. As a classmate said " we didn't know a lot about wines before other than drinking and enjoying them ". We know a bit more now. Our teacher did a wonderful job and made our time in Siena very enjoyable.

2011-06-30 08:45:09

Very Informative & tipsy experience

I was ignorant about Italian wines. After attending Tuscan Wine School in Siena and learning about the great wine production, now the Italian wines are in my top list. Graize Mille Tuscan Wine School and Rebecca for the lesson.

2011-06-13 15:47:34

Stimulating

A refreshing introduction to the pleasures of the Tuscan wine! An afterfoon well-spent in the quaint streets of Siena, my husband and I enjoyed the experience and company as we learned about the nuances of wine. Tips on olive oil and balsamic vinegar were a welcome addition.

Savor Sienna Tour - A Must Do

Maria Luisa met us for the savor sienna tour, and it was one of the best activities we did while in Tuscany! She was so friendly and knowledgeable, having her own vineyard and olive oil production, and we loved our two hours with her. She introduced us to vernaccia wines, local champagne, olive oil, balsamic, meats, cheeses, gelatos, pastries, etc, and we felt like we learned so much during our time with her. She never got tired of our questions and she really seemed to know the best people and places; we felt like sienna was home when we went around town with her! Our favorite stop was at Gino's cheese and meat shop, we had a blast trying to cut open a wheel of cheese and trying the amazing fennel salami! Thanks for a memorable and delicious day, Maria Luisa!

2011-08-07 02:49:44

Great for beginners!

Great for beginners, excellent for intro to wines in general. Probably not best for advanced / sophisticate oenologists! Very nice quaint shop in the heart of Siena.

2011-07-01 11:43:53

A must do in Siena!

Very informative and a great experience! I had some knowledge of California wines and our teacher was awesome! The class is great runs about 2 hours and we gotto taste 6 wines. They supplied us with a pen and paper to take notes and also had some bread and cheese with the wine. Would recommend anyone going to siena to take this class!

2011-06-20 19:12:58

Loved everything

I was a solo visitor to Siena and stumbled across this school. It was absolutely great and a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. Increased my knowledge re. regional wines, sampled some great ones and all in all had a good time. Highly recommend. Carol H. U. S. A.

Savour Siena

We had a fantastic time on our savour Siena food tour with Sofia. She was full of personality and knowledge! We sampled some tasty foods from local places and wines, olive oils, balsamic and honeys from the Tuscany area. My only wish is that it was longer: (

Good Intro

My wife and I took several classes during our stay in Siena. They were great!... informative, fun and not a hint of wine snobbery! Maria Luisa was the best! Sign up and enjoy... You absolutely cannot go wrong! Mark And Linda Anderson Newport beach, California

Very Enjoyable Experience / But.... Marketing using TA

This was a very enjoyable experience in a comfortable setting with a small group. It was led by a wonderful instructor who showed passion for both wines and Tuscany. This was a great opportunity to learn about and taste several Italian wines. One point I should mention about the TA reviews on Tuscan Wine School is that they are very adapt at promoting and using Trip Advisor as a marketing tool. They actively promote & solicit positive TA ratings much more than most operations. For example, emails include the TA link as 'a reminder to those who meant to give us a good review'. This may help to explain why this would be # 1 on 'TA Things to Do' in Siena. Yes, this was very enjoyable. However, please be aware that the TA reviews are influenced by their marketing efforts.

2011-06-29 17:22:54

Very tasty wine tasting and very educational!

We went to an overview of Tuscan Wine and wine tasting. Marialuisa was excellent - she was very entertaining and knowledgeable. The wine was totally amazing and so was the olive oil she gave us. What a fabulous way to spend an afternoon in Siena!

2011-07-26 01:21:15

So glad I did it.

After some last minute browsing on the internet for a spontaneous trip to Siena, I stumbled upon TWS... (I was on a partial business trip to Tuscany.. I actually work in wine!). I was wondering if I want to spend a few hours away from the Tuscan sun and the swimming pool, and sit inside... well, the verdict was WELL WORTH IT!!! Maria-Luisa was my teacher, and I really enjoyed the material (yes, she knows what she is talking about), and most of all, her welcoming attitude. After the class, we asked her for tips on which winery to visit. She didn't hesitate, and recommended some really nice places to go. I was truly appreciated. I highly recommend anyone to put this on their must-do list when visiting Tuscany. Only minus: Not easy to find... we were 5 minutes late...

2014-11-22 19:17:57

Wonderful time

My husband and I fisted the Tuscan wine school in Siena. Sarah was an incredible teacher / guide. We had a great time and learned so much that we were able to use during the rest of our trip. I would highly recommend the school to anyone travelling to Tuscany.

2011-08-16 14:52:24

Wonderful experience

Very enjoyable relaxed atmosphere where we were able to taste and enjoy a variety of wines. Instructor was very well informed and ran a lovely course. Opportunity to ask lots of questions. Very instructive and obviously bought some wine from the shop at the end of the course. Definitely value for money.

2013-09-06 18:02:57

2015-08-27 16:36:28

wonderful and delicious!

We have taken several tours with TWS over the past few years and every one has been excellent. We have now done the foodie walking tour of Siena twice and loved both of them. Rebecca and her team are friendly, knowledgeable and FUN! We tasted meats, cheeses, honey, olive oil and awesome angel wing cookies from Mr. Bini. This is a must for us on any visit to Siena or the Tuscany area.

2015-08-23 17:11:20

Savor Siena and Tuscan wine... unbeatable combination!

While in Siena, my wife and I had the pleasure of experiencing " Savor Siena " and " Tuscan wine " at the Tuscan wine school. Both were well done and fun and as this was our first time to Tuscany, a great introduction to the local foods, olive oil and wines. I particularly liked savor Siena, as we walked around the city tasting deli meats and cheeses, espressoes, and gelato. And my wife really enjoyed the Tuscan wines, and their stories. Grazie to our two wonderful instructors.

2015-07-10 09:13:07

Day trip to Siena

Sofia provided a food tasting tour for my wife, son and I on a recent trip to Siena. She was well prepared, added many facts and history with background information about each item. We began at her store but also journeyed to a few local merchants. In the two hours our tastings included prosecco, bread, a variety of meat, cheese, truffle paste, gelato, balsamic vinegar, red wine, dark and white chocolate. It was one of the highlights of our visit to Italy and when we return to Siena we will schedule another afternoon with Sofia.

2015-05-28 16:29:02

So much Fun, We Did Both Classes

One of our Favorite activities of our recent trip to Italy was attending the Tuscan Wine School in Siena. We are fairly well versed in wine, but do not know a lot about Italian wines, so it was a great learning experience. Sophia was interesting, fun and informative. We learned quite a lot We tasted 5 wines that represented the area along with some bread, olive oils and cheeses. This was a very interactive class and we all had the chance to compare the Tuscan Wines with our favorites from home. All the products presented were available for sale (with shipping to the US) but there was no pressure to buy. We arrived in Siena on a Wednesday, during the Market Day, and parking was almost impossible. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to find a space. The next day we had a great time on the Savor Siena Tour with Sophia. She was a fun and gracious hostess and our group of 11 had a great time. While they advertise this a tastes and not a meal, we did not need any lunch after our tour. We started in the Wine School and had Prosecco, Olive oil, bread, Special Salt, truffles, and balsamic vinegar. We then walked to the butcher to try Salami and wild boar salami, prosciutto and other cured meats. The Baker was next with fabulous almond cookies and panforte. We then strolled to the gelato maker for tastes of several flavors of gelato and a Baci di Siena. Back to the school for red wine and chocolate. Everything was very tasty and it was fascinating to learn about the different products and how they are made.

2015-04-02 12:13:34

Fabulous way to spend an afternoon!

We so enjoyed our two hours with Sofia on the Savor Siena tour. The information was full, yet concise and well-presented. For any visitor to Tuscany, I suggest experiencing this tour early in your trip so that you can more fully enjoy all the gastronomical offerings of the region.

2014-07-19 16:53:06

Excellent way to experience Siena

Great couple of hours learning about the tastes, aromas and flavours of artisan products authentic to Siena. Very knowledgaeable and delightful guide who taught us so much.

2014-06-03 17:09:39

Wine School

My husband and I had a great time. We learned so much about the wonderful Tuscan wines. You won't be disappointed

2013-11-15 10:59:20

Educational and fun

We were a family of five adults visiting in September. It was a good overall lesson on Tuscan wines with stories to go with them. Enjoyable experience with good generous sampling of Tuscan wines accompanied with cheese, biscuits and olive oil. The accompanying shop had wine related articles which were useful. I would highly recommend this wine school. Leave your address and they email you further information.

2013-09-28 14:12:02

Learned a ton and had fun!

My husband loves wine and loves to learn so on a whim we booked this class while in siena. In 2 hours we felts we really got a handle on the wines and the rules and the region. Jamie is an American living in siena. She was fabulous!!!!! We tasted 6 wines and all were good quality. We paired a bit as well and it is definitely true that wine with the right food surely makes a difference. We laughed and enjoyed the others in the class's. You are given a great map and placemat with notes for the future and we even got an email with more information a few days after. It was a great class if you want to learn more. Siena is a fabulous town in this region so a day here was truly a gem. Jamie also took a few minutes at the end and gave us several key tips on olive oil. This was an added and unexpected treat. Jamie we loved your class!!!!! Thanks so much. Your front row students from Denver -- Sharyn and Craig!

Wine to ice cream

An excellent 2 hours spent with Sofia at the Tuscan wine school. she was extremely knowledgable and made the tour very interesting. You really felt you were living in Sienna and eating like the locals. Would highly recommend this for anyone interested in food and wine.

2 hours that enhanced our stay in Siena

Our teacher was Riikka, and we were the only couple, and at first it all seemed a bit odd, just the two of us in a classroom, but within a few minutes we felt so comfortable. We tasted 6 wines, including a dessert wine, and were able to compare these to each other, while Riikka told us about them, and answered all our questions along the way. This was a lesson that was so much more than..... yes we learned about the grape varieties, how to read a label, how to taste, but Riikka's passion and her knowledge meant that we also had some history, some culture, some folklore. But even better than that, when we talked about the food to eat with each wine, she was able not only to suggest a great meal to accompany, but where we might find it. Thanks to Tuscan Wine School we ate and drank well throughout our stay. A really enjoyable afternoon, and money very well spent. We would definitely return to do another of the courses next time we are in Siena. Thank you very much.

Wine tasting experience

My two good friends and I were staying in Florence and took a day trip to Siena to see the city and enjoy what it has to offer. This was one thing on our list that we were recommended to do, and it was by far one of the best decisions! We had a great time, learned a lot, and got our moneys worth, which are all things that are important to us! Its a good way to get exposure to different wines while having fun!

2016-10-14 08:28:19

Tuscan wine tasting

It was a very relaxing and informative unused two hour discussion of Italian a Tuscan wines accompanied by wine tasting. Highly recommended
