Good Experience
Have attended a conference here for a meeting. The facilities and staff were top-notch and the event went smoothly. Thanks.
cozy gem
Ozark Diner + Bed and Breakfast in Baguio is a cozy gem offering Southern-inspired comfort food, warm service, and stunning mountain views. Perfect for dining or a peaceful stay. A must-visit! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rude Owner
Terrible place. The property is in serious need of maintenance; it doesn't look like the photos at all. The food provided was bland and didn't add any value to the experience. For the price, I expected a much better quality stay_it's definitely too expensive for what you actually get. To make matters worse, the owner was quite rude, which made the experience even more unpleasant. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Down Home Ozarkian Cookin' In Baguio!
About as close to Grandmas Ozark down home cooking as you'll find! Right next door to the Arc Residences. The meatloaf plate with mashed potatoes, gravy, collard greens, superbly prepared meatloaf, and biscuits was fabulous. Definitely unexpected in the middle of Baguio but wonderfully appreciated. Now, if we just had a Bluegrass band to play some music for us!
Not worth your money
Food is bland. Owner is rude. Room needs to be maintained. Noise is unbearable at night. Too expensive
I left you alone after a horrible experience. You had the gall to come at me. I'm gonna get even by telling the truth
We went here for a three-day staycation, and we booked their " clubhouse " room since we were a group of five. The pics on Airbnb made the room look decent enough. Comments from the host said that the room featured a modern industrial design and that its furniture was upcycled. I was cool with that since my wife and I like modern industrial interiors, and we appreciate upcycled materials. The place was nasty. And that's an understatement. The " modern industrial " design of the room was straight-up ridiculous, like a bad parody of a modern industrial room. For the owner, " modern industrial " meant the room was " unfinished. " Wooden and concrete sections of the ceiling were bare and untreated. It was so bad that none of our group was able to sleep on the upper bunk beds because dirt just kept falling on them from the bare concrete ceiling. I had to remove the " curtains " on the bunk beds too, because they were made of " upcycled " tarpaulin and every single one of them had mold (the rods they were in were so rusty, rust dust would fall on the bed when I moved them). My son has asthma, so he's a no-no for mold (plus mold is a flat-out health hazard). Other " upcycled " furniture in the room, apart from the big dining table, looked like they were fished out of a dumpster. The chair and table in the bath were very rusty, and they could cut you if you're not careful. Upcycling is good, but you have to clean and treat the upcycled furniture first before you use them (there are tons of these projects on YouTube). You don't just get something from the trash, wipe it down a little, and claim it's upcycled. That's called dumpster diving, not upcycling. A modern industrial interior typically features exposed pipes and a bare concrete look. It doesn't mean you just stuff plywood in places and leave it there (this is especially dumb in Baguio since it's cold there and mold develops quickly). You have to treat the wood so it looks clean and it doesn't degrade. You have to treat the concrete too, so it looks and feels nice to the touch. The same is true for the pipes. You don't just leave your drain pipes hanging out without even bothering to paint them. As the cherry on top, the water in the place is from the tap since they have their own filtration system. The staff said that the water was potable, but the cleanest faucets in the place are in the sink area, which is facing a waterless urinal (whose filter needs replacing) and a toilet with no bidet. Needless to say, we were uncomfortable getting our drinking water from there. By day one, my skin asthma was in a full-blown attack. I was covered in hives by the time we checked out. All four of us in the group also had bad stomachaches by the second night. I brought my dogs, so we paid an extra Php 2k for their stay. We woke up dizzy from our stomachaches on day three, so we decided to just get our free breakfast to go. This incited a number of rude and condescending comments from the owner about how takeaway breakfasts are against policy (because we might just give them away to anyone, which really should not be an issue because the food is so-so). I ended up paying for the takeaway containers. Our total bill came to about Php 19k-ish for our 3D2N stay with two dogs and some stuff that one in our group ordered from the diner. We've used Airbnb for a long time. We've been around too, and anyone that looks at our profile there would see that none of our past hosts from within and outside the Philippines ever had a problem with us or our pets. I was pissed off at Ozark by the time we left. We were sick, the food was average at best (not a lot of flavor and everything's greasy), and I honestly felt that we were ripped off. But I didn't say anything. Ozark's " clubhouse " was within striking distance of a family room in one of the mid-tier hotels in Baguio, but it's at least three orders of magnitude worse. I could have just left our dogs with a sitter, paid the dogs' rate for a three-day stay, booked a family room in a hotel, and we'd probably have spent less. Now here's the interesting part. I hate drama. I don't like calling out people for their crap online. So while I was seething about the whole experience at Ozark, we decided to not leave them any negative comments on Airbnb. Everyone knows that businesses could get adversely affected by bad comments online, so while we had a horrible stay, we kept our mouth shut. But the gall of the owners of this place. Despite us keeping quiet about the mold in the room, the rusty furniture, and our overall horrible stay, they decided to leave *us* a negative comment on our Airbnb profile instead. No private messages to try and talk about what happened, no " what can we do better?, " nothing. Just straight up put a bad comment on our Airbnb account. They even had the gall to say that they won't be " inviting " us back again. So to the owner: What kind of messed-up masochist do you think we are? We DON'T ever want to come back! You gave us the worst Airbnb experience we've ever had, and we decided to leave you alone. But then you go out of your way to leave us a bad review? Eff. That. I don't usually wish ill for others, but in this business' case, I'll make an exception. I hope your attitude teaches you a hard lesson! We returned to Baguio a couple of months after our stay at Ozark. We stayed at a midrange hotel and just as expected, we spent less. They were even pet-friendly. Oh and they didn't complain or make a whole fuss about breakfast being taken out either.
My Dogs and I
Great food!! I really love the theme and their menu. I ordered pancake and sausages and it tastes great. Just need minor improvements on seats and making sure saucers are available. The owner was there when we dined and he provides awesome experience. Their staff are all professional and warm as well. My dogs love their food as well!!!
Well worth the trip, great authentic Southern American food with value
I ordered the meat loaf which was the best I have tasted while being reasonably priced. I also tasted the triple burger and the Nashville chicken which were also excellent. As a bonus the American owner and chef was very friendly and gracious!
Not recommended. Owner rude
They just care about money. They dont care about guest relaxation. Owner is rude. What they only care is earnings.
Hard to Find
If you're not from Baguio (like us), finding this diner will be a problem. We actually would not have found it without Waze. It's definitely off Baguio's beaten track. Like you're in the suburbs already. Woe to you if you don't have your own ride. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment for us since the food was not a good as what our friends told us. Or was it simply a bad day for the chef / cook? The chicken we ordered was dry and tough, as if it was left over from the previous night or just plain overcooked.
American south in the City of Pines
Had dinner here last night with mom. Ozark has plenty of food choices and everyhting the we ordered taste superb, my mom who's super picky approves! I especially loved the mashed potato with gravy, all from scratch. And that peach cobbler a la mode perfectly capped of the night. Price is alright for the generous servings.
Fantastic breakfast
My wife and I searched for a breakfast place and this was listed as one of the top rated. One look at the menu and we decided we had to try it. I was very curious to see Filipino interpretation of southern comfort foods. The restaurant is small but tidy and nice inside. Service was a bit slow, we had to help ourselves to menus waiting for staff to greet or acknowledge us. My wife got the French toast and I got the biscuits and gravy with an extra sausage patty. The biscuits as gravy were good, I think a little more ground pepper would have made them great. Still good and I finished it with a very full and satisfied belly! But the French toast... The French toast was absolutely fantastic. Probably the best French toast I've had in years anywhere outside of homemade, it didn't even need syrup or honey. Definitely worth trying! Ordered the dark beer cheesecake for dessert, but they brought the chocolate sili labuyo cheesecake by mistake. A happy mistake, it was a great mix and we had already decided we would come back to try the Jumbalaya for dinner in a few days, I'll have my dark beer cheesecake then (Cerveza Negra is my favorite beer in the Philippines, so I must try the cheesecake!) Overall a good experience, the price is to be expected for the style of food and ingredients. We'll be back soon to try dinner.
Zariah Birthday dinner
We had a chance to visit Ozark an hour before they closed this weekend. We thought they will no longer accept us because its nearing their closing time. To our surprise they accomodated. When we started to order, the waiter said that the food is good for two. So we ordered their best seller. Chicken, Pork belly with beans and side orders of mashed potato. It exceeded our expectations. I recommend the pork belly with beans and the Chicken. They have huge servings as well. They even gave us a complimentary cake for the birthday celebrant. You have to google it for the directions for it is not within the city.
Best Southern Cuisine! Worth the long drive!
I've always wanted to visit this place when I read that, it's a pet friendly Restaurant BnB and of course, their claim for Authentic Southern Cuisine... They deserve the throne. It was indeed at its finest! DARK BEER CHEESE CAKE WAS TO DIE FOR! Hickory Smoked Chicken have the crispiest skin ever. I've also met the Owner, Kevin he's quite an accommodating gentleman. All in All, Tis really a good experience!
For Weekend Escapade
The location is in the outskirt of the city proper and for us coming from Metro Manila, this is a heaven, no noisy car horns, no loud voices, no shouting, no heat coming from AC but just plain cool November weather, lots of pine trees and the smell of pine. The family room we got have a nice concept, they will prepare towels and toiletries, large bed so you can be comfortable after a long walk around the city. I had the fluffy pancake for breakfast and this is a must try, as well as the Ozark tocino (their original recipe). Albert (the owner) will keep you feel warm during your stay. Aside from us, our 3 fur babies did have great time walking & running uphill and downhill (which they cannot experience in Metro Manila) therefore we really had the best vacation for 2018 at Ozark + B & B By the way, the place had a limited staff, so feel free to be useful, use to motto, " clean after use " in your room, this sort of things.
A Comfy Rainbow Den
The charm of Ozark is its gracious hosts Albert, Kevin, Dan and their pug Terror. They are very hands-on as owners and take the time to take care of each guest or diner in their BnB. With their southern charm, Ozark is a comfy and safe space to hangout as all bed and breakfasts should be. I was very happy with their generous jambalaya and got some cookies as pasulubong. If you have pets, they have a pet of the month contest where I think you might win a hotel stay there.
Southern American dining
Ozark is one of the few restaurants in Baguio City that offer a Southern American dining experience. Their version of the paella or jambalaya, the perloo, is a house specialty. The andouille sausage is uniquely flavored. The space is quite small and could be crowded at times but it makes for a quiet escape in the mornings and late afternoons.
Big servings
Meals are mostly American food. The servings were big. Friendly manager and chef / owner. We ordered the meat loaf, chicken and pork chop.
Best value!
Despite the fact that it was already really full, we were lucky enough to be able to get bookings at the famous Ozark for the long weekend. The rooms were awesomely clean and well-appointed, closet space was generous, and the bathrooms smelled as if they were not covered up by a spray or scent but were actually hygienic and fresh. I expected the food to be amazing because I've seen Chefs Kevin and Albert on cooking shows and read rave reviews, but I didn't expect this level of amazing. The biscuits were flaky and buttery, the meats were flavorful but never salty, the thick pancakes and French toast didn't even need syrup, and that's coming from someone who likes to drench lavishly. The staff are courteous and pleasant but don't get in your face. Little touches made us feel that a lot of thought and effort went into making a guest feel at home - I love the water pitcher in the room with full-size glasses instead of tiny juice glasses. At the diner your change is presented in a zipped-up clean plastic envelope, and the bedside lamp in the room is a touch lamp which is perfect for getting up in the dark and not having to fumble around. So many other things are wonderful, I know I'm just going to add to my list of things I appreciate every time I go back. I realize that the 4+ hours getting to Baguio is a huge improvement on the 6-8 hours it used to be, but it's still a pretty long way for me. However if I'm going there, knowing that Ozark is waiting for me will make it worth my while!
Delectable!
We enjoyed the food. I loved the cheeseburger and fries. Accommodating staff, reasonable price. Location was quite far from the city though.
Resto Outside the City
Panfried Chicken, Three Egg Omellette, House Blend Ice tea, Big Fried. Food was great most especially for the omellette, only omellette in Baguio that serves the best! And try their fries super many! Place was like a bistro and they have delicious house blend ice tea.
One of our best Baguio trips
My bf and I have been to Baguio several times already and would usually choose a hotel. This time he was there for work and I was there for leisure. Due to unavailability we had to look for alternatives and boy are we glad this happened as we discovered this bed and breakfast with such great hosts. We were so thankful that Albert didn't give up on our reservation despite the demand for the room when we arrived at 9pm. The spacious clean room with a balcony and carefully selected furniture charmed us. Breakfast was something we looked forward to as the food cooked by the owners themselves is delicious and servings are good for 2 ! Albert was also so kind to allow us to use their outdoor fireplace to enjoy the chilly night. We ended up extending one more night (total of 3 nights) and i am sure we would have extended another night more if it were not fully booked for the weekend. We now have a spot in Baguio where we will definitely be going back to. :) thank you Albert and Kevin.
Relaxing Place to Stay at Baguio
Decided to stay at Ozark's for 2 nights. Room is big for two and is really clean. Balcony has great view too. Very relaxing ambiance. I appreciate the free cookies, drinks, and fruits on the first night. The free breakfast is good for two people already. They also offered free coffee during our stay (big plus for coffee lovers like my companion). I also liked their sausage / longganisa on their big breakfast meal. You should also try their cakes. Tried their dark beer cheesecake and it was great. Service was okay too. Attentive staff and really nice owners (Albert & Kevin). I suggest you try staying at Ozark's to have a great baguio experience. 😊
Not what I pictured
The place looks amazing. Its a nice open kitchen and I love open kitchen. But the kitchen was messy with dirty pans everywhere. I ordered the country fried chicken for myself... which was not chicken... it was beef. Anyways not a problem but the chicken in side was so thin and the batter was so thick. And another thing, I can usually tell if things are fresh, frozen, or fried fresh then frozen then refried. Can this be because the head chef is not there and there are two young guys in the back cooking. Maybe. And by the way, the refried beans I ordered tasted a bit spoiled and the biscuit I had was rock hard. But your lemon merengue was quite good.
Southern Dining in the Summer Capital
I've always wanted to eat at this place since I chanced upon it online, and we finally had a chance to do so during my birthday weekend last year. It is located in the city outskirts, but it wasn't too far from the town proper. The Place When we got to the dinner, only 1 table was occupied. The restaurant is situated near the SLU Maryheights Campus in Bakakeng. It was cozy and had natural lighting. You can feel the cool breeze in your face as you walk down the steps to the diner. The Staff Service was prompt and efficient. Upon sitting down, they gave us the menus and recommendations on what to order. They were very attentive. The Food We saw some cookies and immediately felt we had to sample some, and so we did. We chose cookies and long johns, which were very affordable (Php5 and Php10, respectively, per piece) and really good. We ordered the following: French Fries - made from local potatoes, you should not miss this. It's natural flavors were highlighted by its freshness. The hubby and I polished one serving in minutes. Hickory Smoked Pork Belly Ribs - The hubby enjoyed this, said the meat was tender. His only gripe was the skin was sort of chewy instead of crispy. But he expected that since the meat was smoked and not roasted. Nashville Country Fried Chicken - This was good as well. A bit on the spicy side, and the portions were huge! I made the mistake of ordering this for myself. This should be for sharing. We'd love to come back if only for the fries and pastries. :)
Simply the best in baguio
Ozarks Bed and Breakfast is a very blissful place. It is a perfect place for a getaway to relax which is why I left with a heavy heart. Why? I will have to go back to reality. If you have the opportunity to stay here, book it without hesitation. Being here was like a dream. Albert and Kevin were the best hosts. They were very accommodating and attentive to my needs. I was craving for toasted marshmallows one night so they set up a small bonfire for me. Never have I met anyone more warm and welcoming. If you want to have the best southern American cuisine, I recommend Ozarks diner. They take barbecuing very seriously. It's the real stuff!
" Cozy and Affordable Diner in Baguio "
Searched this Diner located in Bareng Drive, Bakakeng, Baguio City. Try a more accessible route via Camp 7, Kennon Road. Place is cozy, food tastes good, friendly staff and price is affordable. 👍👍👍👍 Ozark offers bread, pasta, burgers, steaks and deserts. I enjoyed their fresh fries and house blended iced tea. Dared to eat the " siling labuyo " cheesecake. Can you? haha
Overwhelming!
Food have big servings! Friendly staff and owner, home made pastries, I love their biscuits, make sure to pair it with their syrup! I was so full I wasn't able to order dessert, more reasons to go back!
Forgettable experience
We wanted to try something so off we went to Ozark. Finding the place was quite challenging specially if you're not familiar with Baguio roads. The design of the dining area is more of an industrial. We ordered liver rice, chicken and pork which I can't remember the exact name of the menu. The pork was salty for me and the chicken which was recommended by reviewers was disappointing. It was my first time not to finish a meal. Really can't recommend to my friends. Price wise, didn't get value for my money.
American Diner
We got a chance to visit the diner on our way to Baguio from the lowlands using Kenon road. The diner had good reviews from critics but is way down in Tripadvisor. Since it is owned by 2 American chefs, the way of cooking and the quality of the food served should conform to the standards of a real American Diner. We sampled the Gumbo, Hickory Smoked chicken, pork cutlet and their 2 famous cheesecakes. All good. Dining here will save you a trip to the USA if you want to taste " real american food " in the Philippines.
Quick pit stop
I first tried their cookies during a food sale in Metro department store / grocery are in ATC. I asked for their card and found out they were based in BAGUIO! I told myself that I will visit them once in the area. I STRONGLY recommend you try their cookies. They are seriously DELICIOUS! Oatmeal raisin - my FAVE!
American south comfort food
Best sellers are the bbq ribs and the cheesecakes-- NY or Dark Beer. Took a taxi there and it helped that google maps was on and gave accurate directions.
Pricey and not that delicious
I must have expected a lot because i already heard about it on facebook from a friend. It's pricey and not so delicious as it looks.
A Big Disappointment
We went here because of their famed Dark Beer Cheesecake and Chocolate Siling Labuyo Cheesecake. We have very high expectations because it's included in Rappler's list of
A taste of Southern Cooking.
You need the help of GPS to locate this place but it's really worth the trip. They offer something new... authentic southern cooking. I ordered their specialty the Chicken Fried Steak that come with the choice of a side dish and biscuits. The servings was generous. The staffs were friendly. It's nice to try out something different in Baguio!
The only thing missing is Mardi gras
This is a place not so easy to find. But from Camp 7 just outside Petersville Subdivision towards Amparo heights. Always pass the St Louis Campus ITS NOT There. Find the Two bears trail Bareng drive which is on the left. Be careful its always uphill. Get a taxi or private car. We were meet by friendly staff and the place maybe small but true to Southern hospitality, even the cashier was helping fix the tables for our big family. Good for dates but even better for groups. The chicken steaks is a must and the Hickory Fried Chicken. The side dishes are just mouth watering like the black eyed peas and black rice with liver bits. The pulled shoulder is very good. The biscuits with natural honey is real homey. The sour dough bread too. The shakes are for me better than the iced tea because of its creaminess. Yes, the dark beer cake is too die for. They have brownies and a chili containing dessert that my son ordered but I didn't taste. I have been fortunate enough to visit the American South a couple of times and this is really how their chicken and biscuits are cooked. Its like traveling to America by just going to Baguio.
Authentic Southern cookin' in the North of Luzon
It's a little out of the way and located inside a residential area, but it's worth the trip. Ozark offers generously-sized servings of American South favorites like Chicken Fried Steak, black-eyed peas with ham hocks, biscuits and gravy and of course, fried chicken. And despite it's a galaxy away from the Mason Dixon line, the taste is as close to the real thing mainly because the head of the kitchen is from the Southern US himself. I ordered the meatloaf and it's the closest to the real thing I've tasted in the Philippines. Though admittedly, my last recollection of meatloaf from the US was a Bay Area diner. Still, it's an amazing find. Ozark can be a little difficult to find of you're doing public transportation. Reviewers and bloggers have said that taxi drivers know the area as Goshenland but I didn't see any sign stating the name. The closest landmark is a St. Louis campus. If everything fails, Waze and Google Maps know where it is.
Southern comfort food
I went here with my foodie brother and his family last February. We used google maps to find the place since it is off session road and near St. Louis university. We were happy we took a chance on this place. My brother had the pulled pork sandwich, black eyed peas and chicken which he enjoyed immensely. My sister in law was happy with the pork chop which was huge. And my nephew loved his mac and cheese. I didnt order much since I was still full from our heavy lunch. But i ordered fries which was great and their house iced tea was delish. I had two glasses. They also sold cookies which i brought home as pasalubong. They were extremely cheap yet very good. This is a must try place in Baguio. Service was great and they cheerfully served us even if we got there really late and they were about to close.
filling experience
The place is a little too far from the city center but it's worth visiting. Great burger and chicken sandwich and true enough the dark beer cheesecake is one good heavenly creation!
Best Restaurant Nestled on the mountain top
Gotta love that dirty rice (with liver) just a nice touch, very delicious. Lots of options on the menu, amazing desserts (Dark beer Cheeze cake). Very much comfort food that we all crave for. See you soon, we will be back for sure.
Great food!
This is a fairly new diner in Baguio City and I must say that Kevin, the owner and chef, has a clear vision of how he wants to satisfy his customers. Serving is big for a typical Filipino because Ozark is true to its promise of feeding you with Southern American cuisine. In my two-month stay in the city, I came here 4 times! Their meatloaf is a must-try and it goes really well with their mashed potatoes and fresh coleslaw. Two people can share a meal so paying 200-300 per dish is not bad at all! They also serve a big carafe of coffee so if you are eating as a group, you will appreciate this. I have also tried their hearty chicken pot pie and hefty serving of fries. I just wish they have smaller take out boxes because what they provide to customers are too big. When I return to Baguio for vacation, I will definitely go back!
Oh! Yeah!! What a Meal!!!
Chicken Pot Pie and Dark Beer Cheesecake, first menu that I've chosen from the lists and definitely makes a mark in my tummy. I don't want to stress out the taste but surely when you come here you'll be the judge of that. Totally recommended the location maybe hard to find just ask any locals especially the taxi drivers.
MMM, Dark beer cheesecake
There's more to Ozark Diner than their dark beer cheesecake (although that's become all the rage in Baguio City now, because it's just so fabulously good =b). Together with this Manila Polo Club dessert that found its way to Baguio, they've got traditional New York cheesecake, siling labuyo cheesecake (whoozah! That little kick), juicy packed apple pies; scrumptious and super filling dishes like burgers, sandwiches, humongous pork chops, breakfast eats, and sides that go way beyond french fries. 'Like what' you say? Mashed potatoes, hoppin' john (my favorite now), salad, honest to goodness southern biscuits, coleslaw, mac and cheese and so much more. Guaranteed, you'll leave the restaurant feeling as " full as a tick on a fat dog ". As for the service at this little piece of the Ozarks in the City of Pines, it is just wonderful especially with Gelo. Water? Right away. Rootbeer? Did you want that bottomless? The friendliness of owners Chef Kevin and Sir Albert and GM, Sir Daniel adds more icing on this fantastic cake of a diner. Ever heard of the quote, " Good food, good friends, good times " ? That's just what you'll get here.
