100% thumbs down!
The bartender was a total rude and abrasive. We were ignored the moment we walked in. We seated ourselves eventually. He was so busy talking about himself behind the bar that it took forever for him to take our drink order. We were handed the drink menu and he rambled more things they didn't have on it that we order water. In the meantime a couple women walked in and one asked what flavor White Claws they had to which he responded. She then said, " those are the two flavors I don't like! " The bartender responded with, " then don't buy it " very matter of fact! The woman made wye contact with my friend and I all thinking how rude that was. We then FINALLY had the waitress come and take our order. I ordered my meal and my friend was still choosing between two. The waitress was rolling her eyes with impatience and said, " maybe I can decide for you! " We both ordered and waited. We wanted to know if we could have chips and salsa but the bartender had his back to us the whole time. I finally yelled out to get some and he turned around with a less than pleasant look and responded with, " what do you want? Queso, salsa or guacamole? " We chose queso and he just turned around. We got our food, still no chips and queso. That came half way through our meal. My friend nachos were burnt and my quesadilla was soggy. No one ever asked how our meal was not asked if we wanted a refill of our waters. He waitress came and I asked for a box and my friend asked if she could split our bill up. The waitress replied with, " no, we don't do that! " My friend asked why and she said, " I am just the employee. I will bring you the check and you can do the math! " She tolled her eyes and came back with the bartender. He walked up all trying to be tough and said, " How long have you been friends? You two can't figure out $5! " That was it for us! We snapped back telling him how rude he was to us, to the people at the bar who had enough of him rambling about himself and how great he was to them, how he was rude to the lady who asked about the flavors of the white claw. He thought he was being all dominant on us, and that wasn't happening. He brought our check and I had set a $50 bill upright so he could see it. He made eye contact with me three times before I said I needed change. He brought us the change and said, " my apologies again ladies! " We were trying to figure out when he actually said he was sorry the first time. We were walking out and he said to have a nice day. We would never go again. Food was mediocre. Service obviously was awful!
Mexican and Asian, okay
Interesting concept. Basically a tavern, A variety of cuisines are offered here. We went with the Mexican. The whitefish tacos were just okay, but the beef tacos were very good, and the two taco serving size was plenty for a meal. Service was welcoming and fairly timely.
$2 variety of beers! Plus great Mexican food. Don't miss this spot
Try the beef tacos - fantastic and so reasonably priced! My husband loves the chicken chimichanga- so much meat and again great price. They also have a cooler that holds all kinds of beers and seltzers for two bucks a bottle / can! Hard to find a deal like that much anymore - especially in Door County!
Door County visit
John Henry was our bartender / server. He was so attentive and wonderful, I asked if he was the owner. He said no..... he was an employee. Wow! Food was fabulous. Menu is reasonable. Cabernet wine was delicious. Highly recommended!
Date with spouse. We're we're looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant with spouse just to get away from crowds
A restaurant that advertised it's Mexican cuisine but also tries to do various other things (i. e. Italian, Chinese and American) We only tried the Mexican which was at best average. My barbacoa tacos were good but were smothered with cilantro which kinda took away the flavor of the meat. Spouse had chicken fajitas which came with tortillas and chicken. No sour cream or tomatoes that traditionally always comes with it. Chicken had no flavor. Seems like there trying to nickel and dime you to death by charging $3.50 each for extras like rice, chorizo beans and salsa. Service was good and people were friendly. However if you want real Mexican food, try and find a food cart somewhere. Domestic Beer $4:50 Mixed drink $9.00 Spent around $75.00 with tip.
Pizza without sauce
We ordered pizza since most other places were closed and the kids wanted it. The prices we're a high, $27.50 for 14 " (only offered size).. whatever, not many options at this point. We orders a BBQ pizza that was suppose to have BBQ sauce and another pizza, deluxe something, that was suppose to have standard red sauce. It was take out so I didn't look at them until I got back to the rental... they were a bit over cooked and thus had really crunchy crust. Worse though, it was the stingiest sauce job on both pizzas. I initially thought the deluxe pizza may have instead came with a garlic sauce or something, but no... my son found a trace of red. Very unfortunate since they were otherwise REALLY good pizza.
Giant Burgers!
I got a cheese b urger and it was cooked exactly how I wanted it, was topped with a few crispy onion rings. My daughter said the drinks were fantastic. I can't wait to go to Egg Harbor again and eat there.
Awesome restaurant and bar
I love this place! Great staff, perfect selection of food, wonderful atmosphere. This is always a must stop location whenever I visit Door Countu!
Should have come here sooner
Frankly, dining options in Door County beyond bars pubs are few and far between. This is one of the few serving Italian and Mexican food. We should have come here earlier in our trip as the range of choices was refreshing.
Ate here twice.
We ate here twice due to not being able to get in to any other restaurant in the area. The first time we had the all-you-can-eat fish fry for $12.99. my husband loved his fish and ended up eating many fillets. Service was great seated in the room with the large scrabble board. Our server was attentive. It took about 5 minutes for each fillet to come out after the main plate. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The second time we ate here service was night and day compared to the night before. My drink ran dry and less attentive server. Had burrito which was okay, a bit to salty for my taste. Would have really liked to have a beverage refill to wash it down. ⭐⭐
Not the Same
We were anxious to return after several wonderful meals last trip. Something has changed. I loved the spaghetti and meatballs last time but, oh my, the meatballs had no seasoning. The noodles tasted like they had been frozen. They were mushy and had a musty taste. We tried the enchiladas with red sauce and the sauce was separated and watery as if they'd been frozen and thawed too. The cashew chicken was perfect last trip but too spicy to eat this time. There was no plate of cheese, lettuce and tomatoes with the fajitas…just meat, onions, peppers and tortillas. Small cups of salsa and sour cream were given. Oh no. I'm heartbroken. This was our favorite restaurant last trip. Not happy this trip. Maybe the food hadn't been frozen but it tasted old to us this time. Sorry.
Great food and friendly waitstaff
The food at Mojo Rosa's is very good. Nice outdoor seating and friendly, courteous wait staff. We would definitely visit again.
Nice Mexican with other restaurant menus available
Nice Mexican with other restaurants available. Makes great option if not everyone wants the same food. Had Mexican as was reason for going will consider the other options there next stop. We were there a little before dinner hour got going and things were a little disjointed but over all ok
Skip the quesadillas
Of the six places we ate during the week, this was the one disappointment. The place needs upkeep -- sticky floors, worn-out furniture. My main entree - vegie quesadilla - was monolithic and bombarded by cheese. Didn't get to recheck the menu but I would not have ordered a " vegie " quesadilla that featured only ONE type of vegetable. No herbs or anything to flavor it except too much bland cheese. It's possible other items are better but this felt like somebody threw it together without forethought or care. Didn't help there was a kid crying at a nearby table the whole time (although that's not something to fault the restaurant for.)
Loved It!
We visited door county in April. A lot of the other restaurants were either still closed or had very limited hours. Mojo Rosa's was our favorite restaurant in Egg Harbor. We visited 3 times during our 5 day stay. Mexican food was offered at all times but the Italian and Thai menu was available only after 4pm. Favorite menu items were the chicken and the beef enchiladas (rice and beans cost extra), cashew chicken, pad Thai (very oily but delicious) and the spaghetti and meatballs. Portions were generous. I loved the spaghetti and meatballs. The sauce was homemade_I'm surprised at negative review (s). I found the sauce very flavorful and even bought 4 bottles to take home. I prefer a smooth sauce so even though I thoroughly enjoyed it in the restaurant, I toss in the blender at home and add additional spices (Paul Prudhomme's Hot & Sweet Pizza & Pasta Magic seasoning blend and ground fennel) to taste before heating. Love it. My husband ordered the enchiladas 2 out of 3 visits. On our last visit, he had the cashew chicken and said it was very good and would order it again. I had the pad Thai and thought it was absolutely delicious but very oily. Full bar, pool table, darts, Pink Bakery desserts, great food, very friendly staff. Outdoor seating in warmer months. Ample parking. Centrally located on the main street. Located right next to Pink Bakery (shared parking lot). We're returning to Egg Harbor this fall. Mojo Rosa's is on our " must visit " list. Yes, it is that good…
Blah. Food was mediocre
Blah. Food was mediocre. Not horrible and not good at all. Food had little to no flavor. We had mostly Mexican and the curry. Staff was friendly but we would never go back. Don't waste your money here. Seafood enchiladas were terrible.
Would not recommend
One star is doing this place a favor. Upon arriving we assumed we were going to a Mexican restaurant. This is a restaurant with an identity crisis. It's part cafe, Mexican, bar, American, and Chinese take out. The menu was small with very few vegetarian options. The chips and queso was edible, but not great. The chicken wrap my boyfriend got had very little chicken. The only Mexican thing on the menu was two tacos. The waitress did not know any of the daily specials. The soup, sandwich, and pie of the day, she had no idea what any of them were. I ordered the pie of the day, cherry. The waitress came back and said it didn't look good but she could run next door to the bakery and get me apple pie. Props to her for at least being willing to go the extra mile. The waitress was pretty nice. Afterwards we visited the bakery next door which did in fact have cherry pie. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food you got except that the restaurant charged $1 for the smallest cup of water I've ever gotten at a restaurant and $3 for a cup of bland coffee. Altogether not a great experience. Would avoid this place in the future.
A Very Tasty Lunch
First, Door County is fairly expensive, so what first surprised me was how reasonable lunch was. I had the soup and (whole) sandwich for $11, and my husband had an Everything burger with fries for $13.50. This is VERY reasonable for Door County, and everything was very tasty. The turkey BLT was just right, but I especially liked the soup, although I don't know what kind it was -- it was like a creamy potato mushroom with beef, but I could cheerfully have had two large bowls of it! . It has a bar-type atmosphere, but the tables were far apart and it was very quiet. However, we ate there on a early Thursday afternoon, and we were only one of three groups, so it might have a different vibe on weekends. In short, very good food, very good service, and very reasonable prices.
Pizza
Pizza was just average as well as the bread sticks. people were nice, but food was just average. period
This restaurant is just okay
This restaurant was serving four different types of food. Mexican, Italian, Oriental, and American. Apparently they combined four restaurants into one due to the Covid-19 virus. I would give this one a skip.
Don't go
We ate dinner here our last night of a week long stay in Door County. It was by far the worst meal of the week. We were seated right away and they gave us three menus, one Mexican, one Italian and one Thai / Asian. We ordered drinks which came in reasonable time. I ordered from the Mexican menu and the other 4 people at the table ordered Italian. The Mexican item, a chicken enchilada was OK, and the black beans ordered with it were quite good. Unfortunately my meal was the best of any. My husband ordered a salad from the Italian menu that listed pancetta as an ingredient and he added shrimp for protein. The salad he got had four strips of super sweet maple bacon which was off-putting and not al all like pancetta. He also found the shrimp to be flavorless and didn't finish them. The other entrees ordered were chicken Parmesan, pasta with pesto and spaghetti with meatballs. The red sauce was very bland, it tasted like plain canned tomatoes and the pesto was just so so. There was a very long wait for food and we sat looking at empty drink glasses for a very long time and were not asked if we wanted more until we were almost finished eating. Also there was a problem when they brought the food they brought three correct entrees and two that were not ours so they had to take them back and find the correct ones. After we were finished we asked for the check and instead of bringing us a check the server came and said the total is $134. xx. We gave him our credit card and he asked if we wanted a receipt so we said yes. Only when we got that receipt did we see what we were being charged for. We found we were charged for a salad when the menu said the chicken Parmesan included a choice of salad. At that point we did not feel like arguing about it and left. I would never go back as there are so many other good restaurants in Egg Harbor and elsewhere in Door County.
Dinner for two that relaxing and reasonable
New place to try Thursday. What a friendly relaxed place. We enjoyed chicken tacos and seafood enchiladas with shared sides. The Dragon Milk Bourbon Stout was smooth. We are in Door often and will return for this lovely chilled place. Possibly for Sunday football game as they have direct tv.
Fine- not the best Mexican place I've ever eaten at (I would rate 3.5 out of 5)
This place seems to sell as much fried chicken as Mexican food. Their Mexican food was fine. It irked me that there wasn't any free chips and salsa with our meal. I thought this was a Mexican restaurant ?Our food was fine. Service was slow on this very busy Saturday night. They do have outdoor seating. The inside of the restaurant was a bit dumpy.
Service excellent
Everything we tried was awesome - margaritas, whitefish tostadas and chorizo chimichanga. My only gripe was the seats outside were really uncomfortable. But the food and service were spot on!
Not to Our Liking
We ate here on the Saturday night before Mother's Day. We had the chicken fajitas which were okay. The portions were skimpy, especially since we were splitting the dish. The fajitas came with only 3 small corn tortillas. No complimentary chips were served, which is surprising for a Mexican restaurant. We ordered a take-out burrito for daughter and had to return it; she wanted white rice and the burrito had mexican rice mixed instead. We tried it, but would not eat here again.
Broasted chicken take out
We were staying in Fish Creek and picked up the 8 piece chicken and a side of fries (extra cost) It was the best broasted chicken I've had for a long time. The chicken stayed hot for the 10 minute drive back.
Great Lunch on a Beautiful Summer Day
Ate lunch here with a friend. Sat outside on the patio. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good food. I recommend this place.
Surprisingly tasty!
We ended up at Mojo Rosa's for lunch on a Saturday because it was within walking distance of where we were staying. There were only a few customers so service was fast. The place looks old and in need of freshening both inside and out so I wasn't expecting a lot in the way of food. Was I wrong. All our dishes were surprisingly tasty. I had shrimp tacos with a creamy cilantro sauce. Other orders included enchiladas, a bowl of chili, and a burrito. While we waited for our food, we munched on tortilla chips and salsa. I could easily give Rosa's five stars if it was cleaned up a bit.
Great Margarita
Stopped at Mojo Rosa's and had a great Margarita. Best in Door County by far. Will be back. Staff was very friendly. Can't wait to try their food.
Great friendly place
This is a very fun place. Kim the owner is so friendly and her staff as well. My husband and I always stop in a few days or evenings when we are in Door County. This year we experienced our first PACKERS game there. Really enjoyed our visit. The Broasted chicken is delicious and also the Chicken dumpling soup. Can't say enough on how welcoming Kim and her staff are. Good drinks and food and good times there every visit.
Nice place, decent food
I was looking for some fresh guacamole. They were able to accommodate. It was definitely fresh but could've been seasoned a little more, not with more heat just with a little more flavor. Also tried the taquito's which were the size of a small taco. They were good but the beef was a bit overdone. Service was very friendly but a bit slow being they weren't very busy.
Good beer selection anyway
Have never had anything great but have not walked away gisgusted either. not a must stop but if we are there and want something decent it does the job. one of the best craft beer selections in the door.
Drinks and Fun
Stopped in to watch a Badger game and have some drinks with friends. They were very busy when we got there due to a trolley stop but we found a place to sit. Drinks were good. Bartenders were average in service and drink knowledge. They had live music which was fine.
dinner
OMG, the poppers were so hot that I almost had to go to rest room and throw up, the seeds were left in, and wow!!, pizza was ok, sat out side and nice location, wait staff seemed to be a little over whelmed, to busy for only two gals to take care of people. waited pretty long for bill and finally had to ask the gal behind the door in the kitchen
Mexican
The worse Mexican? food. Maybe they need to go to culinary school to learn about seasoning. Maybe drinking would make it taste better.
Delicious, Mexican food in small town
Great food, good décor, friendly and homely customer service. Wanted to have Mexican food in our quick trip in Door Co. Very friendly staff, always crowded and busy place. Had lunch and dinner on two different days. The taste were the same, and authentic. Hard to find vegetarian friendly place in a small town. This one was a great hit in my family, especially to my mom, who is very strict vegetarian. She enjoyed the burrito, quesadilla, and the Spanish rice. Food was not greasy and not too much cheese, just the right amount.
Good food - two dishes in particular!
We've been here a few times and have enjoyed our meals. Every time, these particular items have been excellent and fresh: 1. Tostadas Pescardos - grilled whitefish, pico de gallo, and fresh avocado on a crispy tostado (This is listed under Appetizers, but I get it as my meal!) 2. Pulled beef tacos (these have very good flavor and were served with cilantro & onions, plus lettuce on the side) The inside of the restaurant is nothing to write home about, but it's family-friendly, good service, and there is a great beer list.
Mexican Fare
Small establishment in Egg harbor. We sat on the patio and shared Fajitas. I found the inside are to be very noisy and a little crowded feeling. Our shrimp fajitas were good but nothing extraordinary. Had a cherry margarita which was really why we stopped. It was different and very good.
Pleasant and pleasing
We stopped in during our most recent trip to Door county and decided to ignore some of the negative reviews. Our waitress was attentive, and we were both happy with our choices. Don't know if we are too easy to please... or we came on a good day... but our choices of Mexican fare were both very good and we won't hesitate to return another time.
Large group
After the wedding festivities subsided we still had large groups of family hanging around Egg Harbor on a Sunday. Mojos was able to handle our large group- the service was very good, the food was decent.. not spectacular.. the salsa was very bland- i wish they offered a spicier version. My chicken quesadilla was good, the margaritas were good but be prepared for a high bill if you order a pitcher (or two) of them. The highlight of the meal was the excellent service
Fabulous beer selection; food fine
Husband and I both had taco salads. They were just fine, nothing special, but we ate all! Ask for some salsa to perk up the salad. Their beer selection, draft and bottle really good. Best I've seen yet in Door Co. We like a Scottish ale type beer, not often found in this era of IPA. They had more than one option of this type of beer. Craft beers from all over the Midwest. Excellent service. Yes, we'll be back. Have heard their pizza good.
Great pizza!
Mojo's is a must when we come up to Door County. Their pizza is AMAZING! Crispy crust, delicious sauce and fresh toppings. My husband likes to arrive " a little early " so he can have a beer (or two) at the bar.
Very tasty
Dinner was very enjoyable. My sister didn't care for her dinner but she didn't want to send it back - they were very understanding and discounted her meal for her! Very friendly and accommodating!
Leg one of the three restaurants and a bakery trifecta
This was the first place we ate on an egg harbor trip. The layout inside is a bit jumbled around a bar, but the food was great. This place is owned along with The Village Cafe, Villagios and Beth's Bakery. They even share staff, as some are only open early, and some like this one are open late. The food is mostly, but not exclusively Mexican, with burgers and breasted chicken. We were all over the menu, and all was great.
Good shrimp tacos
Popped in for a quick lunch, the guacamole was great, as were the margaritas and shrimp tacos. Quick service and convenient location.
Last night in Egg Harbor
Family of 9 that had been staying in Egg Harbor and we decided we wanted to go somewhere close to where we were staying. It was a Tuesday night and they was $2 tacos & $2 margaritas so that sounded perfect for us! Food was great! Our server was very sweet and kept us up to date when there were technical difficulties when it came to the check. Nothing bad. We had a great time!
Horrible not friendly no service bad food
Service is awful. Waited for them to take our order. The restaurant was almost empty at that time. The food was not tasty at all. The fajitas came swimming in oil and corn tortilla shells no sauces such as sour cream no pico nothing $1 charge for each one. Waited for our food and had to yell for the waitress to give us our bill. Then I waited at the hostess station to pay the bill. Finally went to the bartender and told him I could just walk out if they did not want to take my money. He smiled and said no we want your money and walked away. Someone else took my bill. No we will not be back. They are understaffed for their trolly influx of drinkers and the bar area is too small. You have to walk thru the bar if you sit outside. The chairs outside are very uncomfortable. Do not go. Very over priced for what you get in quantity and quality
Best pizza
A stereo-typical Wisconsin tavern and an almost cafe as an aside. As I sat at the bar and ordered two pizzas to go and a beer, a local sitting across from me told me, " Drink slowly. " He was right. This place had maybe 10 people there - 4 of us at the bar. Yet, it took about 40 minutes to get my pizzas. Thank God for the guy next to me who drank Jack. He bought me a shot to go along with my beer. It made the wait less aggravating. Still - best pizza around.
Series of unfortunate events
My friend and I visited on a Friday night around 6 o'clock. People were pretty scarce in the restaurant, which was kind of a red flag. When we walked in, the host ignored us and began to help the other waitresses. We were asked three separate times by three separate waitresses if we had been seated, who then proceeded to say " okay just give me a minute " and walked away. The hostess finally came back and was complaining that she had no idea what was going on because she just got back from break- which was very unprofessional to tell a customer. Once seated, it took at least 10 minutes for a waitress to realize we hadn't been waited on. We also overheard the waitresses saying that they had no idea what section they were supposed to be working. We ordered right away and I ordered a beer, but the waitress came back and said they were all out of the kind I wanted. After 20 minutes, our food arrived. We both ordered a chili, cheddar, and egg burger but our burgers came out with only cheddar and egg. Our waitress then disappeared, and it took us 10 minutes to flag down another waiter to tell him we didn't have chili. We then asked this waiter to get us the check because our waitress was no where to be found. The food was mediocre, bland, and the burger wasn't fresh. We ate quickly, so we could be out as soon as possible. As we were getting ready to leave, our original waitress came back and asked how everything was and then left again. We decided to use the restroom and realized that the bathroom signs " boys " and " girls " were paper taped onto the door. Once in the bathroom, we found that one of the toilets was overflowing onto the floor and into the next stall. Upon washing our hands, we also realized that the sink was leaking as well. This was the worst restaurant experience we ever had. The ONLY positive experience we had was that the waiter (who brought us our chili) discounted each of our meals by half. We will not be returning.
Delicious food and margaritas
This place was great! The food was delicious and fresh. Margarita pitcher was huge and very tasty. I would definitely come back and recommend it to others. The reason for 4 stars is because somehow our bill was $20 more because of a " computer error ". Also, understaffed. Had to argue to switch the channel to a game when we were the only ones in the room. Small portions for a Mexican restaurant.
No drink for you!
Stopped in on a Wednesday evening. Walked to patio - no direction or greeting from interior staff. Outside patio had two " open tables " - one was cleared the other full of dirty items from previous customers. The one server outside was clearly overworked. He spent several minutes working on a drink order for a group of two adults and four kids. He didn't acknowledge us waiting for a cocktail or even make a comment about our patience and that he would be with us shortly. After ten plus minutes of nothing - we left. The employees inside should have been more attentive - their coworker was swamped while multiple workers were inside with minimal bar customers. I wouldn't consider a second chance here - terrible first impressions. And - with a busy tourist season approaching it could be hard to make a living if your customers are leaving before they even order something.
Beef Mojo Burrito
Had the beef Mojo Burrito with cheese sauce. Pretty sure the cheese sauce is Velveeta (or similar cheese product). I enjoyed it but if you're a food snob it might not be your cup of tea. Comes with two sides. I ordered the Mojo Beans (sautéed pinto beans) and the Mexican Corn. Got the Mojo Beans and the rice. Would have liked to try the corn but there was one server and she was bopping in and out of the back taking care of customers in the bar and dining area. Friendly atmosphere. Looks like a fave with the locals. Good taste with quality ingredients. Will probably stop in and try another dish next time I'm up in Door County.
As always, a great meal!
My wife and I stopped in for dinner and, as always, was not disappointed. Loved the nachos and the flautas. Their flautas are hands down the best flautas we've ever had anywhere. Let me say, my wife and I eat a great deal of Mexican food. Mexican is my wife's favorite food and these flautas are to die for. Order them with any meat, and the con queso cheese on top. Yum!!!!
Great place, great fun
We went here two nights in a row. We had great food and a pitcher of margarita the first night. The second night there was a St. Paddy's party and we had a blast!
I love this bar!
I love this place. Live band, amazing food! Free food celebrating St Patty's Day. All was amazing! Would definitely come back!
Mojo Rosas
We enjoyed our visit. Bright colorful restaurant, very good food and very friendly bartender. There is a very friendly atmosphere in this restaurant t. Would definitely go back on our. next trip to Door County.
Surprise Birthday Party
I can't say enough about what a wonderful experience my friends and family had at Moja Rosa's. I contacted Kim the owner in September about a possible surprise dinner for my mom's 60th birthday party in December. Many, many, many emails and several last minute changes (including the date / time!) later, the party was a success. We had a private back room area which was fabulous as we can be a rowdy bunch. Kim offered us past appetizers and family style food options for dinner. All were absolutely amazing! Much higher quality than I expected. And the margaritas!? Talk about big " pitchers! " The entire party raved about the service and the food. Kim also owns a bakery in town and had a cake ready for the party. It was exactly like the picture I sent her and she even had it on a very cute cake stand- without me asking. Oh yes and it was one of the best cakes I've had- delicious! I highly recommend Moja Rosa's and Pink Bakery for you next visit to Door County.
Poor customer service & no Hard shell tacos? wow!
Skinny short plain jane lady that was rude & unattentive lost a lot of our business on our 5 day stay the landing resort-it was so close to walk to but the place needs serious help. younger blonde was friendly & made a good margarita, the next night a dark haired girl was working-she had a sense of humor & was very attentive-disappointed with their menu-no hard shell tacos just soft & you have to order 3-really? the pizza actually was pretty good-that is all it has going for them.
Fun, good food, decent prices
We love this place, year round. They play good music, the menu has everything we like and the people are nice. Great location. Love it!
Dinner
Pizza at a Mexican restaurant! The margarita was a little sweet for my taste & the pizza was OK, definitely not made in Chicago. Thursday special buy 1 pizza get 2nd half off. So I guess that's fine. Not too many places open anyway!!!
Great day
Kim the owner was great. We had margarita in the most interesting pitcher authentic Mexican art. You need to check this place out-drinks, food, fun.
Friendly, Fun Bar-Restaurant
Love Mojo's!!! My family and I always come to the Door and this is our first stop when we get here. Great atmosphere and Kim, the owner, is as awesome as they come. She really gets to know her customers and creates a fun environment. Amazing beer selection, both on tap and bottles. Plus you can always count on the Badgers being on and even watching a Bears game (and of course the Packers if you are into that sort of thing).
Awful service at the Bar!
We won't ever be going here again! Bartender was gone from behind the bar many times during our time spent here! We came to watch the Packer game with fellow fans while staying in this town. They must have a drink limit cause we didn't have very many drinks and we got cut off! Their Strawberry Margaritas are poured over ice and not authentic at all! Especially for the price! And if ya want anything with orange juice they can't do it unless they squeeze a real orange. What kinda place doesn't stock OJ?!
Just awful
This is mostly a bar with some outside tables for dining. The menu is very odd with a mix of Mexican food, bar food and pizza. We ordered pizza for our kids and Mexican food for us. It all was awful! The pizza had a frozen, or pre-made, crust. My daughter took two bites and wouldn't eat any more. You know how bad pizza has to be for a 10 year old to refuse to eat it. The Mexican food was equally dismal. The rice and beans, which you pay for separately, were Inedible. You also have to pay separately for chips and salsa. Not good either. This place really has no redeeming qualities. I will never eat here again.
Ehhhhhhhh
We stopped here the first night of our trip to Door County. It was after 9pm and this was the only place we could find open. The bar area was packed and there wasn't a sign indicating if you were to wait to be seated or if you were to seat yourself. We ended up just finding a seat and waited a bit to be noticed. We ordered drinks and food as soon as the server came over. My husband ordered a chili chicken sandwich of some sort and said the chicken was rubbery and he couldn't even eat it, which if you knew my husband you'd be shocked as he eats just about anything. He ordered onion rings which were not good at all. I, on the other hand, enjoyed my meal. I ordered the broasted chicken which was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The service was ok, definitely not the best. They had karaoke in the bar that night, which was pretty entertaining.
Poor service
We waited several minutes to even get acknowledged by the hostess and to be seated. Our table service was not much better. Our waitress hardly ever came to check on us. Every other table received their complementary chips and salsa, but ours. We ordered pizza which did not taste as good as previous visits. My son ordered a taco from the children's menu. What we received didn't even look like a taco. It was just beef (if you could call it that) with cheese in a flour shell. There was no lettuce, etc. My son wouldn't even eat the taco. I tried it and it was horrible. Our waitress packaged up our left over pizza and touched all the the pizza while putting in the box. Needless to say, I ended up throwing it out.
Wish I had read reviews
We were in Egg Harbor for vacation and had some time so we thought how about a margarita and chips before moving on, I wished we just moved on. We only ordered that and sat at the bar, we were floored when we got the bill for 2 margaritas and chips for $20.00. Believe me the margaritas were not that good, they were of usual size, so not sure why the price was so high. After reading the reviews here and on Yelp, I am glad that is all we ordered. I guess they afford prime location by overcharging for margaritas from a mix.
Not a fresh food experience
Dry and not tasty at all. Tasted like they microwaved a couple of frozen items and threw some salsa and sour cream on it. I could tell the tortilla was not fresh because I bent it and it broke off easily. Same thing happens when I refrigerate leftovers from a Mexican restaurant, the tortillas become brittle.
Mojo Rosa - keep on driving
The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived. That should have been our first clue. We ordered two margaritas and were disappointed as they tasted nothing like a margatita. The chips tasted like they were fried in old grease. My wife had twp tacos. The shells were stale and the contents were skimpy. I ordered the steak Mojo Burrito. The steak was impossible to chew. As the only contents of the burrito, it didn't leave much to eat other than the shell. The MoJo beans were just bland baked beans. All this for $45. We went back to the hotel and made a frozen pizza.
Worst Mexican Food Ever
I'm not sure who runs this place but the food is terrible. It's not authentic and not fresh but rather has a re-warmed flavor and texture. Taco Bell is better - at l sat it's not reheated leftovers.
I would NEVER come back
We came on a Sunday night for dinner, there were 12 in our party. We ordered a pitcher of margarita, it came a few minutes later. It had 2 small flies in it. The waiter never offered to replace it. Then when we struggled to pull the flies out, he offered to bring us a spoon. How nice! Then we ordered food, my daughter asked for a small spinach pizza. It came out with romaine lettuce on it. That's right... you read that right. They put romaine lettuce on it because they didn't have spinach. And instead of telling us and seeing if we'd rather have something else they just decided to throw some lettuce on it. As I removed the lettuce, the waiter never offers to take it off the bill or to get a new pizza for her. Overall, the food was just totally mediocre. We drank the entire pitcher of margarita between 5 people and none of us felt even a buzz. Very watered down!
Oh No! Not Mojo's
We were looking for a good place for pizza. We didn't find it. Let's start with inside or out to eat. We walked inside to sit down, the TV news of all things, coming over the speakers was so loud inside, we decided outside. Outside we encountered folding lawn chairs, two sizes to small for my liking. Okay, I'll make due. The place is looking at a future law suit from these things. Waiter was quickish, could have seen more of him. We placed a drink order and started on the menu for dinner. Drinks arrived, my $11.00 specialty margarita was a small, $3-4 anywhere else, I didn't order a 2nd. We ordered, two pizzas, and mini corn dogs for the boy. The standard cheese, sausage and mushrooms was okay, but folks, WAY WAY to much cheese (even for a WI native like me). I like cheese, this was swimming in it. The specialty pizza, meatballs, rojo sauce, onions & cilantro, just as overloaded (cheese, not ingredients). Couldn't enjoy the flavor, just cheese. The ingredients sounded great, never saw or tasted any cilantro on it though. Adding insult to injury, washroom was out of paper products to dry with after trying to clean up. No Sa's for Mojo Rosa's.
Family Vacation
Family of five with three boys (18, 13, 11). We did a late night take out (late night for Egg Harbor around 8:30pm). We ordered a variety of tacos, flautas, If you like fried food smothered in shredded cheese than you might like this. Middle of the road mexican food.
Worst service ever!
The food was very average at best and the servers could've cared less that we were there. It was bad. The Only plus is they serve alcohol, that's why they get one star.
TOO SALTY
Recommended by the front desk for the good pizza. We had the burrito with rice and beans. The salty taste we fear may linger with us for days if not weeks. Another customer complained about the poor baked tasting pizza. Many other choices in town so please walk a 1 / 2 of a block to any of the other 4 restaurants.
Not my idea of Mexican
My partner and I went here for dinner. It was not busy at all and we decided to eat at the bar. It took a long time before we were waited on. One bartender stood and talked to a customer almost the entire time we were there. The other bartender was so slow it was painful watching her work. The food was a greasy, bad American-style Mexican food. We will not return here again.
why is this restaurant so bad
This restaurant should close or hire someone that can cook. Whoever is doing the cooking obviously is not a trained cook. Atmosphere 0- food horrible service teenagers bringing your food think about that. When there is no owner on premises the mice will play. If you do not care what you eat or are already drunk on arrival you might like it. Foodies ignore this place! oh yes outdoor dining faces the back of a supermarket.
Cheese from a can
My wife and I ordered cheesy flautas. I thought from the sign on the door that said " authentic Mexican, " that it would be good. The plate arrived and after the first bite I knew authentic was not served here. It was bar nacho cheese. The server asked how the meal was and I said it was terrible canned cheese. While she did offer to replace the meal, I had ordered what I really wanted. The service was fast and accurate, but they should note in the menu that you are not going to get real cheese, but just a few shreds. I will miss this place next time. Sorry, but you did it.
Bad Pizza
We have moved to Egg Harbor and tried Mojo Rosa for a second time. Pizza was OK first time around but awful this time. We asked for chicken but were given something cold in barbeque sauce slathered on a pizza crust. We complained to the waitress and bartender but were told that everyone likes it. We will NEVER go back and discourage any visitors from going there.
Horrible
Simply horrible with rude people. Seriously. This was our 3rd recent visit. Three times is a pattern. On the first visit we tried the fried chicken - they were low on breasts so they gave us extra wings. Really? The second visit was pizza which was just ok. Whatever possessed us we ordered take out pizza large which was really medium and skimpy on sausage Really? 25 bucks for that? Ick
Food was awful
My wife and I spent or anniversary in Door County (What a beautiful place). We decided to try Mojo Rosa's because I was hungry for Mexican food. Their Tamales were so dry I could hardly swallow them. My Wife ordered Nacho supremes. They were dry and awful. I would suggest skipping his place if you want your trip to door county to include a nice dinning experience.
Lack of flare
Wife and I had dinner and drinks. Food was edible but lacked the Mexican flare. Rice and beans very blah. As for our meals, no spice or heat as one would expect from Hispanic food. Meals were also way over priced for what you get. If your looking for authentic Hispanic food this is not a place to try. Like I said it was edible just not what one would expect from a price and taste aspect.
Below average food
To much choice to get it right. The menu has to many different types of food and as a result the food is lacking. Do one or two styles and do them right! The Mexican dishes where average, the sides (beans and rice) where sub standard. This is supposed to be a Mexican restaurant so we where disappointed.
Crossed off my list
so so at best... overpriced and underwhelmed. I have had better mexican food at a Chinese buffet and the burgers were over cooked by a mile.
Outdoor Seating
Stopped here for drinks and an appetizer with friends that happen to be in the area at the same time as us. We had nachos with shredded chicken and spice cheese sauce. Well the chicken did not have much flavor and tasted a little watered down. The spicy cheese sauce was gritty and no spice. Very disappointed and would never return for a meal. Mexican restaurant that does not have a good nacho then feel the meals are going to be a miss as well. Server was very pleasant. They do offer live music on certain nights. The bar inside looked large, decor needs updating and cleaning and again pleasant staff.
A dump with bad service
Overpriced drinks that did not taste good. Dirty floors and tables. Staff milling around at the bar instead of working. One middle aged server kept coming to the bar and flirting openly with a much younger bartender. It was gross. We left and will not go back.
Have yet to enjoy a meal here
Weird menu--too many choices and they don't do any of them that well. It's just kind of blah. There were some appetizer fries we tried that were okay, but other than that the food and the restaurant is not special enough for us to return after trying it twice.
Avoid
food was bad, couldn't even eat it. Was like spoiled / rotten food that shoudl have been thrown out. i won't go back to this place, i would not go there if i were you.
Stopped for a light lunch
First ever stop at Mojo Rosa's, recommended by a friend. Great selection of beers and BEST LOADED NACHOS EVER. All cooked from scratch including chips. Looking forward to going back for a real meal!
Choose a different place to eat
The food was not good. We wanted mexican and it was not good. The rice tasted like it was sitting all day as it was hard and chewy. The rice had peas in it which made it seem like chinese. The chicken chimey i had the rice in there as well. We also order a chicken quesadilla and they forgot the chicken. I ate all but one triangle so the waitress could see i got no chicken and did not want to be charged for it. Only good thing is they did not charge me for it.
Leisure Lunch
Horrible. I couldn't even eat my meal. Our waitress never asked if there was anything wrong with it. The pork was fried so long it would not be chewed. I wouldn't even call it jerky. That is too kind. Also when I told her the drink I ordered was not correct, her comment was that she ordered it correctly. Never offered to have it exchanged for me. I found this odd, but may be that it how it's done at your establishment. My friends did however enjoy their meals.
Not My Favorite
The portions were small and over priced. My wife and I spent $40 / with tip and I left hungry. It was handy to the condo, but I won't be back.
Sorry, Just Awful
My husband and I stopped here while passing through one evening. The tortilla chips we had to pay for had red powder on them. Couldn't eat them. The food had no flavor, was watery and tasteless with no presentation whatsoever, just dumped on the plate. YUK! Every restaurant around this place was crowded so this was the only choice for us. Next time, we'll just keep driving and stay hungry!
Good service
We went there for a late lunch. The place was pretty empty, so we got seated right away. The service was very good but unfortunately the food was not. My husband and I had Mexican dishes and our kids had hamburgers. One burger was good but the rest of the food was not.
Not Good!
Being that I saw a billboard for the restaurant I thought for sure it would be good to eat at. We arrived on a Monday to have some mexican food. We order a chicken chimy and a chicken quesadilla. We got our food and it was a big weird for us. The rice that came with the chicken chimy seemed to have been sitting all day as the rice was hard. Not to mention it had hard peas in it. The last time i remember having peas in my rice was for chinese. The rice was also in the chicken chimy. My quesadilla came without the chicken. The waitress took forever to check on us leaving me to eat all but one triangle so she could see and not charge me for a chicken quesadilla. They did however not charge me for the one meal. I would say find somewhere else to eat if you want mexican.
Mojo not good
This was one of the worst Mexican restaurants ever. My friend and I both ordered enchaladas with different sauces. The sauces overtook the enchaladas. You don't even get free nachos. None of the appetizers didn't even sound appealing. Umbrellas with straw for decoration? Are you kidding me? The bar area was bigger than the restaurant.
Ignored by staff
My sister and I attempted to eat dinner here. We walked in and no one greeted us or offered to seat us. We decided to seat ourselves near the bar. I had to grab a drink menu. The bartender was not busy (there were only about 5 people in the place!) and was just hanging out. After 10 minutes and still no acknowledgement from the staff, we walked out (no one acknowledged that either). Not returning.
Worst Ever!!
Took us almost an hour to get our food and it came out all wrong. We ended up not eating and leaving!! Would give it zero if I could.
Bad Food and Bad Service and Overpriced
The place has great potential but our waiter was training another waiter but still got our food order wrong twice. It also took along time and was nothing special. This could because of what we ordered but it was disappointing to pay 40 bucks for 2 burgers, sodas, and some chips.
The worst Mexican food I've ever had!
Their tacos were the worst! It's chunks of beef in some sort of nasty sauce on a flimsy corn shell smothered in cilantro! I had to scoop it all off, ask for sour cream and cheese! I ate it only because I had to pay for it. The chicken tacos were just as bad, meat tasted like dirty dishwater! I would NOT recommend this place!
Okay Mexican
The service was good but the food was just okay,. the margarita were the best thing we had. We probably would not go back. There are better places to eat in DC.
Mexican!?? Don't think so
Don't go here expecting to grab a Mexican meal! Disappointed with the meal and seemed to be overpriced. The owner was very friendly but.... major disappointment
Not our cup of tea
My husband and I stopped for lunch. We ordered shrimp tacos to split because we weren't super hungry, but needed to eat something. Our waitress was friendly, but the did was mediocre. Not sure what the sauce was on the shrimp, but it tasted like a curry. I've been to write a few places in Mexico, and I've never tasted anything like this. Can't, in good conscience, recommend this place. Too many other options in the area that are much better... in my opinion.
Confused decor and menu
Confused décor (is it Mexican, Chinese, American bar?) and menu. Loud 80s music playing during lunchtime. Came here craving an authentic Mexican lunch (looks like a Mexican restaurant from the outside!) but ended up ordering appetizers only. Complimentary tortilla chips dusted with unknown spices, overdone chicken tenders, adequate cheese curds. Had to ask for plates after the appetizers had arrived, and then waited to get them. This restaurant is not sure about it's identity and cannot cook the food correctly. Our server mentioned he was visiting from Key West, had worked at a 3D restaurant there and came to help the owner during the summer. This place needs more than his help, it needs an identity clarification which may require a name change.
Just Okay!
My husband and I had dinner here last night because it was the only place in Egg Harbor that was still open at 8:15 in the evening. The food was OK, my tacos were fairly decent and my husband said the broasted chicken was really good. He did however say that the onion rings were very greasy and we agreed that the tortilla chips were hard and stale. I probably would not go back there given the other restaurants within the area that were much better.
Bad experience
Walked into this place last year and had a beer. Service was o. k. This year we walked in with having lunch and a drink in mind. The bartender said, " have a seat and I'll be right with you ". That would be fine in theory if she intended to do that, however, she didn't. There were two people at the bar and two others sitting across the room from us..... that was all. The bartender continued talking with the two folks at the bar. We waited for a few minutes, then got up and left. Granted we were only there for 5 minutes, but since she was making no effort whatsoever to even look our way, 5 minutes was enough. I don't demand immediate service, particularly if the place is busy... I understand, but there was virtually no one in the place! At least pretend that you appreciate a new customer. Go across the street to The Bistro. You won't regret that, but you may regret Mojo Rosa's.
Not Mexican
Good place to watch a game on television. The " Mexican " food is not good, not even the nachos. I cannot speak to the other types of food including pizza, hamburgers, and other game-watching, tail-gating types of food. We only tried " Mexican " dishes.
I'd have to be drunk
Tried eating here twice. Both times we waited ages to even order. The first time we finally walked out. The second time we wished we had. The food was bland, probably designed for drunken vacationers, of which there were many.
Great Bar, that just happens to serve excellent Mexican as well!
My wife and I have been here a few times, not to be disappointed ever. If you need some where in ALL of Door County to watch a Packer Game.... it's MoJo Rosa's. So we usually like to have a few cocktails and hangout. Then we get hungry. We have tried something new every time we've been here, and my wife and I have yet to dislike anything. It's Tex-mex so if you're looking for traditional Mexican, you may be off put. My only suggestion is eat at the bar if you can. The service at the tables is slow. But the atmosphere, drinks and food make this place worth it!
