Get the cream puffs
I feel like the food is mostly a gimmick. Huge and over the top but the base flavor is not great. The pizza burger could not be eaten normally. Giant slice of fried cheese but really lacking on the supposed Bolognese sauce. The bun was fantastic though. Seemed like a Kaiser roll. I don't think I am a fan of poutine either. The deserts were great though. First cream puff I truly enjoyed wished I ordered more than one.
Very good overall except for overly salty home fries
Belated visit to this wonderful breakfast spot near LBJ Fwy and Preston in North Dallas. Greeted and seated immediately into this appealing dining room, and offered a beverage choice which was promptly delivered by my server Shirsten. Coffee is pretty tasty! I ordered two eggs with link sausage, which comes with home fries and a choice of bread / biscuit. All was delivered very promptly, griddle hot directly from the kitchen. Eggs were perfectly cooked over easy. Everything was tasty except the home fries were definitely too salty. I would stay away from them next time. Pricing is fair. I'm looking forward to returning since it is so close to where I live.

All breakfast items are super, including the sides. Lunch is a mixed bag. I had the fish and fries. Fish was OK, the fries were really bad: cold, shriveled, tasteless. Service is flawless.

Loved it! We were greeted cheerfully and taken to our table with a smile. Sharon took care of us and she was an excellent server. She was friendly, checked in several times and was amazing. Restaurant was spotless. We had breakfast. The food was very good, quality was good, served hot, portions so large we discussed splitting next time. You can't go wrong.
Wonderful food and even better staff!
We weren't sure we had time to wait on the waitlist due to another commitment so we ordered to go. It was ready quickly and we decided to eat outside. As soon as we sat down they came and got us and found us a table inside even sending someone to check on us and get us anything else we needed. The food was delicious but honestly it was the friendly staff from the hostess, dairy bar, to our waitress. Thank you for a great dining experience.
Rude staff. Overpriced!
I've been here several times, and would not go back. Food is nothing special and way overpriced. Staff has no clue how to treat customers took a long time to get waited on and get served. Not what Texas diners are. Much better places to go with better food and cheaper prices.

First let me say that there should be a law that all restaurants everywhere should be as good as The Maple Leaf Diner. The breakfast menu is diverse to the point my wife and I having a difficult time deciding what to order. Oh and the prices are quite reasonable for the quality. and quantity. The service from top to bottom was great. My wife had pancakes while I had scrambled eggs and latkes with sour cream, rye toast, and fresh fruit. Both of our breakfasts were excellent in every way - period. A nice surprize was the apple butter for the toast.
Decent
We stopped in almost right after it opened after traveling 10 hours. The bathrooms were clean. The decor was charming. The service was great. But it cost us $75+tip for a family of 5 to get breakfast. We did get one of their signature dishes (pictured) but it still wasn't justifying the price for us, personally.
Very popular, but haveing eaten there a couple times, I find it average
They do have some dishes that are common in Canada, but I have had those dishes elsewhere and their version was only so-so.
VERY tasty find! The eggs & bacon were cooked " just right. " Real winner was the blueberry pancake and homemade jelly
It was all simply delicious, and the waitstaff friendly and attentive! It was a short 10 minute wait with plenty of room on the sidewalk without feeling crowded or like cattle being herded.
Huge Portions
On the whole, lunch at the Maple Leaf Dinner was a nice experience. The staff was prompt and friendly and the 10 year old in our group was pleased with the attention that was paid to him. The portions are huge. I had one of the poutine dishes and I could only eat half of it before I ran out of appetite.

The Maple Leaf Diner Most definitely worth the time and money. I drive 30+ minutes to eat here and NEVER regret it! Whether you are getting a small pastries and coffee or a steak and waffles here they do everything extravagant. I've been here a few times, and they never disappoint, if you come during the weekend and expect to wait 30 to 40 minutes to get seated once seated the food does come out in a timely manner. If you come during the week, it is a pretty fast seating. definitely have five star service food and environment. I wouldn't recommend to anybody visiting the DFW or just trying to check out a new place, you will get wonderful food and a great experience.

Breakfast With a Bang!
I've read other reviews and they are all raving about how good this place is and they are NOT wrong! Yes, there is usually a short wait but well worth it. We had a breakfast omelet fixed the way we wanted it. It was served with some of the BEST pan fried potatoes I've ever had. The Butter Tart was divine and my husband loved the Cream Cheese filled Blueberry Scone. A bit of Canada come down to the Canadian River1!

There was quite a wait to get seated but it was worth it. The Salmon Eggs Benedict were amazing. Gabriel Culiat believes we will be back in the future. I highly recommend this restaurant to family and friends

Good food in an unusual restaurant for Dallas. Worth a visit
We went for lunch. All our meals were very large and delicious. My Smoked salmon eggs Benedict was delicious. Eggs were perfectly cooked.
Mildly Disappointed
The food was OK to good. My Canadian wife and I went for breakfast. They provided too much food for too much money. My problem that will most likely prevent me from returning involved syrup. My breakfast came out with a small container of syrup. I asked if it was maple syrup. The server told me no, there was a surcharge for maple syrup. I have eaten breakfast in many Canadian restaurants from Montreal, QC to Victoria, BC. Always had maple syrup with my pancakes or waffles. This place is a wannabe Canadian diner that falls very short if it cannot serve maple syrup with pancakes!

Although Maple Leaf Diner's raison d'etre is reportedly ownership's craving for Canuck Cuisine a look at the menu suggests no shortage of concessions, nearly 2 / 3 of the options leaning into non-descript origins such as Burgers, Benedicts and piles seemingly intended for Man v. Food. The brainchild of Michael Delaurier and his Ontario native wife Debra Maple Leaf Diner opens at 7:00am daily, items proudly promoted as featured by Food Network or Paula Dean a focal point and entirely self-indulgent such as " Chicken, Bacon & Waffles " needlessly topped with Strawberries, Whipped Cream and Cream Puffs on toothpicks. Home to enormous portions and fair prices that help explain the spot's popularity, though American Bacon, Chicken Strips no better than the grocer's freezer and fake Maple Syrup are all a disgrace to Canada, Poutine fares better in its tradition form with thick-cut Fries, squeaky Curds and uncomplicated Gravy. The sort of place where one might be called " sweet pea, " " hun, " " darlin' " and " doll " in less than 30 minutes Desserts hail from Pastry cases at the front, a " stuffed " Chocolate Chunk Walnut Brownie Cookie dry, dull and unnecessary while Nanaimo Bars and Butter Tarts are authentic and delicious.
New Favorite Breakfast
My daughter invited me to meet her here for breakfast and it was awesome. The servings where huge and service was very good and friendly. I told my business partner about it and he stopped for lunch with a client on the same day. We both agreed that this is our new favorite spot especially for breakfast. It's in the middle of a strip mall and not visible from the street, so it's easy to overlook. Our client's office was just a block away and he wasn't aware of it. It is a Canadian influenced restaurant and I had eggs with house made Canadian Bacon that was really different from commercial Canadian Bacon. I will be back... alot!
Great breakfast with my sweetheart
We visit Dallas from Tulsa every year but had never eaten at this restaurant. Now it will become an annual event for us. Great food, I had the diner special with blueberry pancakes. Superb! My wife had the Southern eggs Benedict, she loved it! Service was great and everyone friendly. The space was comfortable and clean. What a great find! Started bad with the kid host and continued
Rude employees were a bad start. Food looked good but we never got ours. After 30 min. Waiting we got up and left. Very pricy for what it was. My advice is skip this place.
Wonderful Breakfast
Weekday morning during a trip to Dallas. Was able to be seated right away -- the hostess was very welcoming and our server was outstanding! Blueberry pancakes are a must and all of our meals were delicious and good portions. Place was very clean and set up for distance seating.
Let down
Service was the good. The app quoted us 30 minute wait and it was an hour. The food was normal diner food with nothing really to write home about. We were super excited to go but it was a pretty big let down on the food.

Terrific Breakfast
I came here for breakfast based upon high ratings and its proximity to my hotel. If you don't make reservations it's around a 20 minute wait for breakfast service, but this may depend on the day and meal time. Our waiter, though I didn't catch his name, was amazingly enthusiastic and helpful. He was very responsive to our needs and came around regularly for refills and was overall a very charismatic and charming personality. My group ordered the French Toast trio, country style breakfast, and eggs and sausage with home fries. The eggs were cooked to order and flavourful even without much salt. The bacon was very good: firm but not hard with an excellent smokey flavour. The sausage links and patties were seasoned to perfection. The home fries I felt weren't fried long enough but they were still great. Both the pancakes and the French Toast were fluffy and wonderfully made. Definitely did not disappoint and is one of the prime choices for breakfast in the area.

The service was really great, let's start with that! The mimosas seemed to be mostly orange juice and the food was alright. Nothing was bad, it just wasn't great.

This place is definitely a go to for food. Delicious food, great portions, great staff! HAVE A RESERVATION!!!! It can be a 2hr wait if you don't!!!
Walked here on the recommendation
Walked here on the recommendation of the hotel. I am dieting and decided to have the Greek salad with grilled chicken. The Greek salad is very tasty and full of big chunks of feta cheese and kalamata olives. The grilled chicken was cooked perfectly and more importantly it was not dry!!! My waiter Aaron was so personable and attentive!!!! I will be back! Lots of great looking food passed in front of me.

Excellent food and service. The hostess and our waiter were so friendly. The chicken bacon waffles were amazing as well as the eggs Benedict. We were able to reserve a table online. Just great experience all the way around. Thank you Maple Leaf!

The food was ok. I didn't get any syrup with my French toast. I was just underwhelmed. We ordered 3 different dishes and no one was impressed. Probably won't try again but never say never. The food was also very cold.
Unbelievable breakfast - just amazing!
On our way out to Dallas, we consulted TripAdvisor and decided to try Maple Leaf Diner - one of the best decisions we made this weekend. There was about a 20 minute wait before we were seated but shame on us for not making reservations. When the names were called for seating, it was difficult to hear the names or find out where we were in line - that's it... the only " negative ". When we were seated, I ordered the Maple Crown drink (amazing) and my wife tried the English Rose & the Hipster (loved both). You youngest got the childrens breakfast... if you have multiple children, they can all split it - it's huge! Chocolate pancakes (get the whipped cream - that should be a dessert by itself), home fries, bacon, bread & 2 eggs! We left about half of it. My daughter got the Belgium waffles (along with eggs & bacon) and loved it (she finished it). My son chocolate chip pancakes (3?)... it came out with a donut on top of the donut (on a skewer) and topped with chocolate sauce and whipped cream - it was so good, yet so rich. My wife and I both had a bite, he ate as much as he could and we left about half on the plate. My wife and I both got Eggs Benedict with the peameal bacon. We didn't know what peameal bacon was but I'm glad we tried it - just amazing. The english muffins were perfect, the eggs were cooked perfectly but the star of the dish had to be the hollandaise sauce. The worst part of the entire meal was that the place was so busy that we had to wait 20-ish minutes. Absolutely amazing - a must visit!!
Saturday Business Lunch
We ate there about a year ago and decided to do an update... So we ordered lunch Saturday for 10 of us... It was as good or better than the last time we ordered... All was correct as far as the order went and the food was exceptional... I had chicken fried chicken with a big carrot and green beans... excellent... priced mid range... mine was 14 bucks
Nice choice for breakfast
I went to breakfast with my neice and decided to try Maple Leaf. The wait was about 40 minutes on a Sat morning. Staff was nice and service was quick. Portion sizes are large and lots of good breakfast choices. I had the pumpkin pancakes, biscuit, bacon, sausage and eggs. Pancakes are huge. Definately easy to share a meal or have lots of leftovers. Enjoyable experience.
Poutine! Yum!
We absolutely loved the poutine, chicken and waffles, Diner bacon burger, and English roast in a bonnet. The service was great and the restaurant was clean and following COVID guidelines. Overall fantastic experience. We are already planning a trip back because the menu is packed with items we would love to try!
Poutine on point
While searching for a restaurant that served poutine, google suggested this place. We did mobile checkin and came back at the appointed time and were seated. Classic Poutine was delicious as were our other dishes. Food arrived piping hot. Waiter was helpful and attentive, but not overly hovering. He made suggestions and we were not disappointed. We are already planning our next visit and what we'll order!
Curbside Pick Up-have been
Curbside Pick Up-have been here a couple times, always good food. During the pandemic we have chosen not to be seated in restaurants. Saw they had a 10% off for online ordering this week. We ordered blueberry pancakes, country Benedict, fried chicken and waffles, and pancakes, eggs and bacon. Very tasty. Food was ready one min before our expected time. So even the eggs were still hot. Great job! Side benefit of eating at home - took a nap after eating because I was stuffed!
Covid Safe, Scratch Cooking & Terrific People
My wife and I were visiting from out of town and woke up hungry for a hearty breakfast. We worried about going somewhere that wasn't implementing safe Covid protocols, but after a quick reference on the internet found high reviews for Maple Leaf. We went and were blown away. It was awesome. The owner has spaced and partitioned tables in a most creative way. The wait staff was super-conscientious and efficient. Oh ya.. and the food. The best! The menu is jam packed with scratch made food (no pun intended - they make their own jam). Portions were huge. We enjoyed breakfast, and plan to go back and try dinner soon.

Great breakfast choices!
Maple Leaf Diner's address is on Preston, although it faces LBJ at the southwest corner of Preston and LBJ in a strip center. An attractive, clean and well-lighted place! Several things on the extensive menu are a nod to our Canadian friends including real maple syrup, Canadian bacon, and sweets (which can be purchase for take-out). My first time here, I had the " peameal breakfast " which is two eggs (your choice of prep), three delicious slices of Canadian bacon, two large blueberry pancakes and the fixin's. Attentive service, and a pleasant atmosphere makes this a place for a return visit. Many lunch items are available.

The kids and I were looking for a new place to try and it was totally worth it. The wait to be seated was a little long but it was totally worth it. The food is amazing and great service. Would definitely go back!!

Great place to dine
This place is really great from cost as well as portion size. Always be careful as to what you order and ask your server how large a certain meal is as it is most likely well beyond what you can eat at one sitting. The food is good and very tasty. The menu has a large variety of items that will allow every person in your party to choose to satisfy their individual pallet. The cost is definately not expensive. The place is well liked and there is always a line forming at the door and people waiting on Saturday mornings. Overall it is a good place to eat good food. I highly recomend it for all.

Great High Carb Food!
Lots of carbs were enjoyed last night. Poutine was delicious. My friend and I split a half order of poutine (brown gravy with cheese curds over french fries) and a huge burger 🍔 stabbed in the top with a knife with hand breaded onion rings stacked over the knife! All sinfully delicious. Finished with a piece of apple pie ala mode. Reasonably priced and we couldn't eat it all. Would have given a fifth star ⭐, but the server didn't know the menu very well. Perhaps she was new. All in all a very pleasant meal.

Got here around 9:30 on a Saturday morning. The place was buzzing, we were told 30 to 40 minute wait, so we signed in and waited.. probably took more like an hour... Service was good and the food was good.. we had bloody Mary's.. also good. My omelette was slightly dry.. other dishes were good.. I would go back, if I didn't have to wait... buy not worth the wait for me..
Great breakfast & lunch find!
I just happened across Maple Leaf Diner last month and it was fantastic! I found a reason to go back 2 more times in December as well! Fantastic pancakes, latkes. Bacon, eggs, cabbage rolls, biscuits and gravy, and more. (Those were on different visits) This is my new favorite comfort food place!
Great food Canadian style, typical dishes from the Northern neighbors
Lot of typical dishes mainly from Canada, a good sample of their eating habits. Very tasty and not to expensive. Good portions. We went with the office team so was a great gathering and a good experience. Very attentive staff. Definitely to go back when in the area.
Hard to decide on what to eat
This is such a FUN place to eat. There are incredible daily specials and the menu has lots to keep you deliberating. EVERYTHING IS FANTASTIC! Service is second to none. Don't miss this stop when you're in Dallas. And don't forget to order dessert.

Large portions of great food! The chicken and waffles are Legendary. We also had the best french toast ever! Busy, loud, fun atmosphere with a bakery.
Early lunch with hubby
This place was packed we arrived around 9:30 am there was a 35 minute wait for 2. I really wanted to eat here because of all the great reviews! By the time we were seated we both decided to get lunch instead of breakfast. I ordered the pot roast that was recommended by food network channel, we ordered the onion rings, a half order of poutine (since it's on my bucket list for food), and my hubby got a classic burger. We got the yelp check in cookie treat which I got the chocolate chip cookie with brownie inside which was good. The decor is pretty cool and hip. They make these delicious looking pies, cookies, and homemade ice cream. The food came my hubby didn't enjoy the bun so he tried to eat the patty but said it seemed like a frozen patty ! My pot roast was tender, the mashed potatoes were yummy and so was the horseradish sauce. The gravy, carrots and green beans were not the best. They were edible though the weird piece of bread it was all served on was quite yummy. The poutine never came by the time the waitress noticed we were already eating our entrees so we told her to cancel it. All in all it's a fun hip spot with okay lunch food the breakfast going out did look pretty good but in my opinion not worth the wait!

Visiting from Cincinnati, I wanted to find a hole in the wall local joint, instead I went to Canada and it was amazing! Like boozy breakfast, pastries to die for and platters the size of, well, Texas! Service was great, eggs french toast, drinks, all of it was amazing!
Thursday lunch
Stopped by on the way home from picking up my better half at DFW. The place was not busy. The staff here are fantastic. Server was friendly, and attentive. Food was on point again. Partner got the same chicken sandwich thing. I tried something new and got the pizza burger. It was really good. Extremely heavy, but delicious. I tired the deep fried mushrooms. They were good. I'm not a mushroom guy so I didn't eat anymore of them, but for those that like mushrooms, you'll like them. We'll be back again.
Chicken parmigiana & tomato basil soup!!
My daughter and I have eaten here three times. The first two times we had the chicken & waffles, which is an amazing dish. My daughter was in the mood for Italian food today so we tried the chicken parmigiana. It was so good and the portions were huge!! We also had the creamy tomato soup. I have to say, it's the best tomato soup I've ever had. We also had their original poutine on our last visit, my kids weren't sure about it at first but they loved it. On a side note, it's based in a shopping center so parking is free and ample. They also have some amazing desserts! A must try if you are in the area!

Top of our list of great food! He had breakfast with authentic Canadian Bacon; I had the Diner burger which was really juicy even though I ordered it well done! Had to try the Poutine and it was perfect!!!
Sunday Lunch
I was given a choice between American and Canadian for lunch. Not much of difference but obviously I chose Canadian. We knew it would be busy and expected an hour wait and that's what we got. Food was excellent and portioned large. Partner got whatever comes with the cheese sticks shaped like they're flippin' ya the bird. It was good since it disappeared rapidly. We got an order of Classic Poutine with extra cheese curds. Go ahead and get the extra curds, you'll be glad you did. I got the Canadian Breakfast it was delicious. The only opportunity for improvement would have been with the Canadian Bacon, it was over cooked. The service was perfect. Even though the place was insanely busy, our server never left us needing anything. We'll be back!!!

I been wanting to try this place after seeing it on Pintrest. Went one morning for breakfast it was great. Huge portions and great staff. Can get really busy so get there early to avoid the wait.

Very good diner food! All day breakfast is always a hit with my family. My son had pancakes which were huge and delicious and my husband enjoyed his Chicken-n-Waffles. I had the Chicken Flagship Sandwich which was fun to photograph and eat :) During peak hours plan to wait because this place fills up!

Brunch with my son
Found this place on line and knew from reviews it was going to be great. It was awesime!! They have these gravy covered fries tgat are to die for. Great portion sizes and great service. Just beautiful and fun.

Chicken Bacon & Waffles!! It's absolutely fantastic! Their coffee and orange juice are fantastic. Good service, family owned - the owner is there every time we have been. We always have to have breakfast, I can only imagine the rest is fantastic.
Wonderful atmosphere and breakfast - Definitely recommend
Maple Leaf is a gem of a diner. It hits all the marks for me. The look of the place is decidedly Canadian and very enjoyable. There are maple leafs on the wall. Canadian flags grace the menu and have been framed and hung. Canadian beer bottles from Molson's and Labatt's are hung on the back wall. Menu items incorporate names and phrases, Eh! The employees are great. The host was pleasant and helpful. The manager working the floor talked to almost every table. He was ever present in a positive helpful way. The servers were bustling about, but they maintained a happy polite demeanor. That's really hard to do in a full restaurant with a line waiting to get a table. The Canadian Eggs Benedict blew me away. The flavors coming from the thick-cut Canadian bacon was phenomenal. It's was really well seasoned. It paired wonderfully with the hollandaise sauce. The over easy egg was cooked perfectly. It ran out and added to the flavor I enjoy. The home fries were nicely seasoned an enjoyable. My daughters chicken fried chicken was huge with great flavors. The french toast was perfectly done. High marks in all categories for me. It must be high marks for everyone else too. There are really long hour plus waits to get a table here.

Amazing breakfast!
Our food was amazing - everyone ordered something different and I wanted a taste of it all. The chicken bacon and waffle was so yum. Order the pumpkin pancakes! They are to die for. The decor and atmosphere is top notch and I will definitely dine here again!

Wow! Great Place
My friends and I had brunch today at the Maple Leaf prior to my catching my flight back to Nashville. I had waffles and bacon. My other friend had pancakes and the latkes and our other friend had the chicken, bacon and waffles. Oh my! All three were delicious. He pancake order had three huge pancakes - enough for the entire table. Needless to say, whenever I return to Dallas, I will go back to the Maple Leaf Diner. The wait staff were also super friendly and knowledgeable.
Will definitely be back
I needed a good breakfast after having my physical and before heading into work. I found the Maple Leaf online and headed over. Since it was about 9am on a weekday, they weren't busy at all so I got seated and served right away. I can't remember my servers name, but he was very helpful and suggested the chicken and waffles. I had never had chicken and waffles, it always seemed such a strange combination to me. However, it sounded good that morning so I decided to try it out. Very glad I did! The chicken was crispy and hot and the waffles were a nice mix of savory and sweet, swimming in butter, strawberries, and whipped cream. I would definitely order this again. Before leaving I bought 2 slices of Chocolate Cream pie to-go. It had been a rough weekend for my family, and pie makes everything better, right? The waiter gave me what I can only assume is about 1 1 / 2 slices in each container, they were bursting with pie when I opened them! Everything was fantastic, I will be back!
AMAZING!!
My husband took us here to have a brunch on Saturday morning, he said this place is good. Turns out this place is not good, it is AMAZING!! I don't mind the wait, about 10 minutes. We ordered their popular meals- Bacon, tChicken & Waffle, Lox Egg Benedict & Latkes and also a kids meal. Portion size - everything is humongous - 5 stars there, including the kids meal, It can feed 3 young kids. The food taste awesome, we love them all. The pancakes from the kids meal are fluffy moist and humongous, yes I said it again. Everything else are perfectly cook, flavorful, nothing I want to change, another 5 stars. We got a cookie from check in through yelp, my daughter has not tried it yet, we are all stuffed. Service, our waiter is very welcoming, friendly and knowledgable about the menu, she keeps checking on us if we need anything and if the foods are ok, definitely 5 stars. So we definitely will come back to try different meals and highly recommend this place!
Diverse Menu and Delicious
We enjoyed eating at this restaurant which is located in a strip mall. It has a Canadian accent, and although the restaurant lacked ambiance, there were some interesting kitchenware and Canadian objects mounted on the wall. Service was rapid and friendly. but on occasion, we saw the supervisor, or the person in charge, monitoring the help and sometimes asking them to perform other tasks. The food was delicious, and portions are more than enough. We were very pleased with this restaurant and went back for seconds. If you eat here, don't forget the tasty desserts and ice cream.
Late lunch
Came in for a late lunch. Had the half order of poutine. The gravy is thick and beefy which complements the cheese curd. Most importantly, the fries are crispy which prevents them from getting too soggy. Enjoyed the waffle panini which is served with a jelly and / or syrup. Ate half with the syrup which was a miraculous gastronomic experience. The other half was eaten with the jelly, again phenomenal. The Canadian bacon is cured in-house making it so tasty. The spicy mustard was a perfect compliment. To wash it all down I had a bloody Cesar. Really good. Finished it all with the butter custard pecan pie which was so incredibly good. If you like good food, stop by for a fantastic meal!!!

What a GEM!!!
We went here with friends, both couples celebrating a birthday. We were looking for something out of the ordinary, yet not overly expensive. We walked in and were surprised at how open and airy it felt, for being in a shopping center! Tables were kind of close together, and all the booths were taken, so we were seated near a family with small kids - fortunately, they were well behaved! The waitress took our drink orders while we read the substantial menu. Three chose dinners and I chose breakfast, which is served all day. Everything was cooked and seasoned well, with the exception of the fried shrimp, which were slightly overdone. Portions were gigantic - if you leave hungry, it's your own fault! Since it is a bakery as well, there were delectable pies and assorted cookies, muffins and scones to choose from for dessert, as well as 8 flavors of ice creams. We need to go back to sample more!!!
Don't overlook this place!!
We saw this cute diner and went in for lunch. We were seated quickly and the food and the wait staff was awesome. The coconut cream pie was delightful too.

Pleasant Surprise
Maple Leaf Diner is a very casual, wholly unassuming diner with excellent food. We were initially a little leery about trying this place because, to be honest, Canada isn't really known for its cuisine. But this place is a gem. The menu offers a broad mix of standard American fare -- sandwiches to chicken fried steak -- with a complement of Canadian specialties, so stay safe with an old favorite or take a flier on something from up north. Everything we had tasted great and was reasonably priced, but be forewarned: the portions are huge; next time we will split a single entree.
Great Food
The Nonna's pasta dish was excellent. Great atmosphere, it wasn't very crowded when I came for a late lunch. The waitress was not so great she seemed lost, and she only had about 5 tables. Other than that this place is awesome.
Catered Sandwiches for a Teacher Luncheon
Maple Leaf Diner catered a luncheon at my school and WOW was it good. There was an assortment of sandwiches overflowing with filling like chicken salad, tuna salad, roast beef, corned beef, ham, etc. I had the tuna salad and the roast beef with potato salad and pasta salad. Very good. Generous amount of meat on home made butter rolls. Delicious. The stuffed cookies are amazing. It was hard to choose just one so I took one of each flavor. Can't wait to try the restaurant.
Pretty good food
The food here is pretty good but the service is horrible every time. Sitting there watching out waitress eat at a table in the restaurant while we are waiting on drinks and things is totally unacceptable.
Average
An average restaurant at best. The food is incredibly salty, and very, very greasy. Coming from a Canadian who relocated to Texas, I thought a little nostalgia might be just what I needed, however, all the food seems like everything else in Texas, fried, greasy, and over all unhealthy. The poutine was pretty disappointing. Again, the amount of salt on it made it nearly inedible.
WORST Customer Service EVER
Ok, been here several times and it was always nice. BUT today the staff were SARCASTIC, RUDE, made me cry, and then LAUGHED AT ME for crying. Today I went for lunch and ordered their Fish & Chips (traditional English entree of fish filets and french fries) and although the fish was tasty, it did not come with fries (chips). I was disappointed because I found their menu description to be misleading. Copied and pasted from their downloadable menu: " Salt & Vinegar Fish & Chips - salt and vinegar potato chip crusted wild Alaskan cod, served choice of potato or garden salad 13.49 " I read that to mean the Fish & Chips came with a side, either potato salad or garden salad. It's just the way it reads in my opinion. Instead, the waiter only brought me a salad with 2 fish filets and when I asked, said that the salad was instead of the french fries (chips), not as a side. I understood what happened even though Fish & Chips means fish and fries--chips are not assumed to be optional when the name of the entree is " Fish & Chips. " If it said " Fish Filets " with your choice of french fries or garden salad, fine. But that was not a big deal. I ate the food and paid the bill. The big deal is when I asked to speak to a manager (AFTER I paid and tipped my waitress) and everyone got really hostile really fast. I never once raised my voice, asked for anything, or even said anything unkind. What I said was, I've been here before, love it, I just think that this menu description is misleading. That's it! What I expected them to say was " I'm sorry for any confusion, thank you for bringing this to our attention. " That would be standard and that's what I expected. That's it. Instead they said that " NORMAL people know what " or " means " and when I mentioned their sarcasm, said " well we're English, what do you expect. " Then the manager tried to tell me the " chips " in the fish breading were what the " chips " in the entree name meant. Yeah right. Just to be extra clear, the manager said they just changed this menu description 2 weeks ago because customers weren't eating the french fries and were asking for substitutions. The previous description read: " salt and vinegar potato chip crusted wild Alaskan cod, served with fresh cut fries. " So (1) they know what Fish & Chips means, and (2) they know the term " french fries " and if they REALLY wanted it to be clear that it's an option, in their new description they wouldn't say " choice of potato or garden salad " they would say " choice of french fries or garden salad. " It's really not hard, and it's really not a big deal. I legitimately think it's unclear, and if I were a manager I'd want to know if my customers were confused by the wording and disappointed with their entrees because they expect something else. I'm just appalled at the rudeness. When I teared up a little, surprised at their sarcasm, they actually laughed at me. I honestly don't know why they didn't just placate me, say " we're sorry for the confusion, thank you for letting us know " and that be it. Even if they didn't mean it! Who cares? I've worked in customer service, it's not hard to give a fake apology or even just be polite. I'm not saying I'm right about the wording, I'm not saying it's a big deal, I'm saying when a customer has a concern (stupid or not), don't be sarcastic with them, call them stupid, make them cry, and then laugh at them. They literally said they " refuse [d] to apologize " which I just don't even understand. No matter how good the food is, I don't think there's any reason to be so nasty. It's very inconsistent with my other experiences with them and it's just mean.

This place is great with some awesome portions. Looking into it the place doesn't seem all that great, but trust the chubby guy and go in.
Not As Expected
We tried to go here on Super Bowl Sunday, but they closed early, so we came back to try it, and were a little disappointed. Maybe we were too excited, but it was pretty average, with the exception of the fact that they have Canadian specialties. But nothing really wowed us, even, and maybe especially, those specialties. The poutine was not very appetizing, and everything else was kind of middle-of-the-road. We had three toddlers, and they were very accommodating and kind about them, which we appreciated. Nothing was wrong with the food, but it didn't really stand out. We might return to try breakfast - it looks like that's the real specialty here.
Great Diner!
Maple Leaf Diner is a wonderful diner! We ate there for breakfast and it was absolutely delicious! Service was friendly, quick, and professional. The food was super yummy! The real maple syrup is a treat! The diner was very clean and parking was easy!
Yummy goodness!
It is saying it is a German style and they offer German food. They have much much more too. I got the cabbage rolls. My husband got the French Canadian crispy chicken. crispy chicken topped with sautéed mushrooms & onions and mozzarella cheese, smothered with roast gravy and served with fresh vegetable and choice of potato 12.99 They serve breakfast all day. All around good food and a restaurant full of customers, That is always a good sign right? Enjoy this place it was visited a while ago by the food network show Food Network's Incredible Edible America June 26, 2017. I think it is, One thing they can tweek is the rolls. they were had and dry. That is the only thing.

Wow! Great experience all around! Food was fresh, plentiful and perfectly cooked. The crazy chicken / waffle combo was a sight to behold. The pot roast was melt-in-your mouth excellent. Buffalo chicken with crisp onion rings: magical. And the poutine was both authentic and surprisingly not greasy at all. Best of all was our server, Shawn. He was friendly, prompt and helpful. Interacted with my granddaughter beautifully. A wonderful employee!! Try this place-the portions are such that you'll have a meal on site and at least one or two to take home!!
Mixed experience
My rating to this restaurant is based on 2 different visits for brunch! The first time I went with my wife, I fell in love with this place. The food was amazing and so was our server. The second time was a super disappointment. Our server couldn't care less about serving us. He did not serve water to begin with, kept a frown on his face all the time and lastly, he was super lousy. All this when there wasn't much crowd. So much so far that my wife doesn't want to go there ever again. May be it's just our personal experience, but I think this is something the restaurant should take note of.
Very good comfort food
I heard about the Maple Leaf Diner from a friend, and today for my husband's birthday I brought him in for lunch. We both had poutine, mine was the chicken fried steak, and his the southern poutine. The portions are huge, and the taste is fabulous. This was a long drive for us but well worth the trip.
Breakfast is over the top, but worth the splurge in calories
My family and I ate here for breakfast one morning while visiting Dallas. We had to wait a little while for a table, but that was understandable because there were six of us and it was during the breakfast rush. I'm assuming this is the case most weekend mornings because this place looked really popular. The service was a little slow, but was very friendly - and they were quite busy so that was understandable. My husband got the chicken fried steak, as opposed to the massive chicken and waffles that I saw lots of people ordering. I got eggs and latkes, and some of the others in our group got pancakes. Everyone really enjoyed their meal and I would recommend stopping here if you're in the area... just be aware the food is massive and quite rich so you won't want to eat for a while!
Dinner at Maple Leaf Diner
This was my wife's and I first visit. We will be back many more. She had the chicken tenders and she really liked them. I had the fried chicken with cream gravy that comes with your choice of potatoes or for a few dollars more get the poutine. Poutine is fresh cut french fries topped with cheese curds and smothered in home made (brown) gravy. The portions are large. We both took home enough for another meal. The people at the table next to us had the pot roast and said it was great. They also were taking home enough for another meal. I had the almond joy pie for dessert and it definitely topped off my meal. We heard their waffles are great so we will have to come back for breakfast. Everything on the menu looked good but you have to start somewhere!

Real Canadian Diner food at bargain prices
This place was a delight from appetizer to dessert. The service was on-point as well. Portions were huge and the food was delicious. Now I know why there was a wait to get into this place at lunch.

DElicious, but not weight-watcher friendly
We had a really tasty meal. There were a couple of low-guilt options, but mostly super-comfort food. We tried the poutine and liked it, wondering how authentic it was. The pancakes and other breakfast items spoke to us, even though we were there on a Saturday evening.
Great for breakfast
Took the whole family, 8 adults and 2 kids on a Saturday. It was packed but got a table in a decent time. Good fast and friendly service. Great selection to choose from. Everybody enjoyed their selection. I have been looking for good eggs Benedict and theirs is wonderful, better than Snooze.

I'm told this restaurant has become increasingly popular and I can see why. It offers the usual fare you'd expect in a diner but also offers less usual dishes, some of them Canadian (poutine is the obvious one; waffles with proper syrup being another), some more middle European in origin (stuffed cabbage). I enjoyed stuffed cabbage with potato latkes and a side of real, in house smoked Canadian bacon, preceded by a good pea and ham soup. The cabbage rolls were soft, sweet, somewhat savory, and deeply satisfying. The potato was really more like hash browns than authentic latke; offering a side of apple sauce did not make them latkes, but hash browns with a sweet sauce. The Canadian bacon was excellent - thick, meaty, flavorful, no fat. The menu is extensive and should work for most people, whether you want breakfast dishes, burgers, salads, sandwiches, desserts. They have a couple of Canadian beers on tap. Big portions - you will not leave hungry.

Me and my boyfriend ordered one chicken, waffle and bacon each and it was delicious! If you are not big eaters, you can easily share one dish. The portions are huge. But absolutely worth a visit!
Delicious
Stopped in for an early diner after travel. The side salad was fresh and crisp. The fish with potato chip crust was very good and the poutine was rich and filling. I had plenty left to take for a late night snack.
Awesome poutine
Come to Dallas for a weekend and just had to try it. Moved from Canada years ago and at times a little homesick. Pouting was great. Had the carnival burger. 2 words. Holy Moly! Had a slab of deep fried cheese thick juicy burger Canuck sauce had topped with a light buttery bun. And if that wasn't good enough, there was a corn dog stuck through the burger the stick holding all this juicy goodness together. The only thing missing is extra napkins to mop up all the juices running down your arms (just ask for more and they will oblige). The poutine, well what can I say. Fries tons of cheese and very flavorful brown gravy. Yummo!! Texas sized servings. Truthfully could have split the burger, oh well. Looking at all the different dishes walking by everything looked great and apparently they have the best breakfast around. Had to have Molson Canadian beer and finished off with 2 Nanaimo bars to go. Unfortunately the ran out of butter tarts, and it was just noon! Hopefully we can go back for breakfast on the way out of town on Sunday. Great service friendly staff and the place was busy with constant influx of customers. For any transplants from Canada this is a must. For the rest of you try the poutine before you turn your nose up at the idea

I had the lox eggs benedict. The salmon was delicious, the hollandaise sauce was perfectly seasoned and the poached eggs were cooked correctly. I didn't love the pancakes, that were fluffy but broke apart easily. The waiter was funny, and conscientious and very helpful. We will definitely be back!
I went to Maple Leaf Diner. Have Reuben
I went here on a Saturday in July, and boy was it busy. After about a 45-minute wait (I would plan for this next time), we were seated and were able to look at the menu. I came here for brunch, but by the time I was seated, lunch was on my mind. I went in thinking I was going to get the chicken, bacon and waffle, but I asked my waitress what she liked first. She said she eats the reuben 4-5 times a week. After hearing this, I had to give it a try. It did not disappoint in the least. The sandwich was DELICIOUS. If I go again, it will be the waffle, but I did not regret my decision in the least. Service was great, food was great, atmosphere was great. Try it out for yourself!!

Breakfast Mecca
Maple Leaf is our new go to breakfast spot! If you go as a couple r solo skip the long wait and head to the community table at the back of the restaurant. It's fun to meet new people and the service is always great. Thomas is our favorite server. The variety of eggs benedict are all delicious. The omelets are spectacular! I love the fresh baked bread they serve for toast and the homemade apple jam is incredible. It's always too much food and we roll out stuffed to the gills. They serve up Canadian Bloody Marys and have an assortment of Canadian beer. It's always packed with many happy returning customers.
Incredible breakfast but come before 9:30
This restaurant sits in a strip mall facing 635 at the corner with Preston, easy to find but an unimpressive spot. Don't let the location fool you!! This is one of the best breakfast places in Dallas!!! The eggs Benedict are insane and huge. We sometimes share them and share a blueberry pancake, which are also fabulous. They serve big food and it's well done. If you go here on a weekend, come early, before 9:39 to beat the crowd.

BIG Portions
Portions are huge. It is Canadian- American flare. You could eat all 3 meals here. Variety in their menu. awesome selections. My wife & I enjoyed burgers, onion rings, French fries = all were great. This restaurants' burgers are about 6 inches high. They stick a stick or knife down the middle of the burger with onion rings on it. The restaurant is a great concept - they did to give you a lot of everything so that bringing your extra food home is mandatory. The desserts are plentiful & delightful. We purchased a few of the small bites & bought a pie to go. great presentation. A suggest a visit soon !!
Best breakfast in Dallas
Make sure you get there early because the line will be out of the door! The service was excellent. Our order was quickly taken, and the food arrived as ordered. The portion sizes were very generous. Restaurant was clean. Clientele included families, couples, and everyone in between. Decor was Canadian, eh. Would recommend to anyone with a few minutes to spare for breakfast, lunch, or dinner in North Dallas.
Just Recently Opened In Thsi Strip Center
This was lunch and was immediately seated. Very large Canadian menu--in fact too large---six page of somewhat small print. Was advised that restaurant had only been opened a few days and that menu would be revised. The service was most friendly. I ordered the staffed cabbage rolls which an with large cut potatoes and green beans. The cabbage rolls were some of the best I have eve eaten. There were two. The cabbage leaves were stuffed with meat and rice and then topped with a slight spicy tomato sauce. They were delicious. My spouse ordered the chicken breast which came with a salad and green beans. The inside of the chicken breast was perfect however the thinner sides were a little overcooked. The beans were excellent. I ordered iced tea which was very good. The plates came with a large roll which had a taste of yeast in it and would have been better if served hot or at least warm. Our drink glasses were topped off frequently. While the wait service was excellent there was slight wait time for the food to arrive at the table. When it did arrive it was very hot. There is desert consisting of in house made pies and cakes, plus Henry's Ice Cream which is a small homemade ice cream company in Plano, Texas. There are lunch specials on the menu as well as daily specials. It will just take you a couple of minutes though to figure out what to order. We definitely will be going back. Since the restaurant was just opened the place is spotless in the dining area as well as the rest rooms. Parking is on the shopping center parking lot out front.
Just Average
This restaurant was allegedly made famous after being presented on one of the Food shows. The lines were out the door, and patrons waited 40 mins on average for their name to be called. The staff was friendly, and one of the Canadian owners was onsite working; he was very friendly and accommodating as well. in short, the concept of the establishment was unique. The food was very Canadian, so you will received proper " Canadian Bacon. " You will want to read the item descriptions, and make sure to ask any questions you have. The Chicken and Waffles also has chicken tenders, rather than the normal bone-in chicken breast. I actually found that to be a favorable spin on the dish. However, there wasn't anything that stood out regarding the flavor or portions. They were average. After our breakfast, we tried some of the pastries. I was hesitant to try the scones, due to not enjoying anything dry; as scones are known to be. The scones, coupled with some of the other pastries carried very nice flavor while not being overpowering. They were actually quite light and satisfying. In conclusion, if you want to experience this unique concept of Canadian cuisine, by all means do; just arrive early. You may also self seat yourself at any open spot at the bar. It was great to experience an establishment where the owner sincerely values his patrons.
