Unusual flavors

Great Ice Cream
Great Ice Cream. The Mexican chocolate is very good. Has a nice kick to it. Also try the banana ice cream. Easy to find off the Halifax Common. Good service!
The ice cream is crazy good
The flavours and quality of this ice cream can't be beat. I had a mexican chocolate ice cream and it just made my whole day. Staff were lovely.
Ice cream for the gods
I can't comment on the restaurant part of Dee Dees but there ice cream is breathtakingly good. They have multiple flavours that are just too good. Hey... it's ice cream, but its not ordinary ice cream. EAT HERE.
Tasty treat!
A great place to stop and treat yourself on a hot day. Lots of familiar flavors, and a few inventive ones for the more daring. The strawberry-rhubarb, and pina-colada were the favorites, the Arnold palmer was tasty but better to have been a first taste instead of following a fruity flavor.
Cute and Tiny Retro Ice Cream Shop
Stopped here after supper on a Wednesday evening. The staff was SUPER friendly and allowed me to sample some ice cream flavours before making a decision. They have gelato and ice cream, milkshakes and a small selection of food items. They offered environmentally friendly paper straws. The inside of the store waa cute and retro. The staff was honestly great. Above and beyond in their service and made the experince better.
Very good ice cream
A welcome stop on a warm spring day. Lots of choice of both ice cream and sorbet. Great little shop with retro decor.
Best ice cream in the world and tacos are up there as well
I live close by and have been a hundred times. Love DeeDee's vanilla, Mexican chocolate, vanilla mint chocolate chip products and her ice cream sandwich is worthy of walking across hot coals to find a dozen on the other side. DeeDeehas made unique flavours for me for unique occasions which is unique for a small business. I love this place. The staff are funky adding to an " unique " and special experience.
Local / homemade
Great spot for homemade ice cream! There are some good flavors to choose from. Try the rum and raisin or coffee flavored. I wanted to try all but...
Really Good Ice Cream
Really good ice cream and some interesting flavours, including banana cardamom and Mexican chocolate. The Ice cream was smooth and creamy and lots of nuts in the Maple walnut. I prefer my waffle cones a bit more crispy but other than that, a great stop.
Very good ice cream
Located just outside the downtown core, opposite the Halifax Common. Limited number of tables inside and outside. The ice cream is very good. As good as Cows, if not better! The waffle cone should be included in the price, much like Cows does. Dee Dee's cost for the waffle cone cannot be that high. Friendly staff. Overall a nice experience.
Ok food, great ice cream
Came in for a snack and to get out of the rain. First ordered a grilled cheese which was ok but not anything special compared to something I could have made in a few minutes at home. The ice cream was excellent though. The waffle cone was handmade and very tasty! Would come back for ice cream but there are better food options.
Half good!
Stopped here on our bike tour for lunch and ice cream. They were out of some main ingredients so the choices were unfortunately very limited and we needed to eat something we didn't really want and as a result not like. Ice cream on the other hand was excellent.
The best we've had in two weeks of ice cream eating
Superb texture, density, flavors. Way better than Cows, which is too sweet and whose flavors are pretty mainstream. Best we've tried as we have been traveling the Maritimes for two weeks!!!
Best Ice Cream in Town
I have always liked this place. Their ice cream falvors are unique and their mango ice cream is one of the best I ever had. This place is probably the best ice cream in town. It is very moderately priced and they do not weigh their ice cream like Cow's does. When I go there I usually buy a tub of their mango ice cream to take home. Definitely recommend this place. The only problem is that they close at 9 pm and if you want to go and get an ice cream after dinner, make sure you get there before 9.
Ridiculously good ice cream
Every ice cream flavor is good (I've tried all of them), but you really need to try the mexican chocolate. Best ice cream I have had anywhere in the world. Can't tell you about any other food in the store, but I see the place crowded every weekend with families and local singles gathering for lunch. A local gem.
Good quality food and inexpensive
Their burritos are amazing. A really good quality food. Mango sorbet is must to try. Their hot sauce is the best I had.
Good Filling Food
We stopped for lunch here whilst doing the bicycle tour of Halifax (which I recommend). The burritos are packed with flavour and are incredibly filling and are all hand made in the shop. However it isn't a very big shop, therefore, seating is very limited.
More than Ice Cream
Have been to Dee Dee's on more than one occasion for their fabulous ice cream. Stopped today for mid morning Americano (organic and fair trade) - very good. The breakfast burrito was not up to the standard of the coffee or ice cream - it was dry and slightly overcooked on the panini press. (The vegetarian burrito may have been a better choice.) It is a small space and could get very crowded when busy. The two staff members when I was there, were friendly and efficient.
First visit but won't be the last
A friend recommended Dee Dee's as the best place for ice cream in Halifax. It was excellent! Had the black currant and vanilla in a homemade waffle cone. The service was efficient and friendly. Judging from the numbers of people sitting around inside and outside, this is a popular spot. Will definitely return to try the other flavours as well as the burritos.
Avoid!
Heard lots about this place for the food. Was told it's a small " hole in the wall " type place and wanted to check it out. Visited this place on a Saturday evening with my family. Small place with very limited seating and space. People constantly bumping you if you are sitting at the tables inside as they come and go. We ordered burritos and they were horrible. We waiting close to 45 mins for our order to come out. It was about another 15 mins from when the first burrito came to our table until the last (6th) came to our table. They messed up 2 of them and we had to wait another 30 mins for them to remake new ones. They forgot about them on the grill and ended up burning the tortilla but served them to us anyway. We got up threw them out and left. No flavour, very bland with very little meat. Kids wanted ice cream and we went elsewhere as I will not return here again. Way better service and food elsewhere!
Limited lunch menu but terrific ice cream for desert
Limited seating and limited menu but for a quick light lunch a fun place to visit. Lots of customers doing take out of wraps and chilli we had chilli and ice cream. Lots of flavours
The best Ice Cream in Halifax
The Mexican chocolate ice cream is amazing. Chocolatey with that kick of spice at the end. I've liked the majority of the ice creams I've tried and love that they rotate certain flavours so there is always something new. I love that they make almost everything in house from scratch. The burritos are delicious and very filling.
But what about the burritos
Dee Dee is a neighbourhood corner treasure. It has won awards since 2012 for their ice cream.. BUT WHAT ABOUT THEIR BURRITOS? We have had several meals this trip. The quality and consistency as well as a neighbourhood line up no matter what the weather speaks volumes about this place. Homemade soup - excellent Quesadilla - excellent Burrito - worth the line up
Dee Dee's = Yum Yum
I had heard about Dee Dee's but never found my way to this quaint little shop until this cool fall day. It was well worth it and I will definitely be back. So many choices to taste but I finally settled on the mango ice-cream. It was very creamy & rich with lots of mango flavor. The have some cute little booths and also a few seats outside. I think they have other food as well but I was so stuck on picking a flavor of ice cream I didn't even look at what was offered.
Ice Cream is wonderful!
Mexican chocolate is amazingly good!! Service is wonderful! A great experience overall! It's a little pricey but definitely good!

Went there a couple days ago and it was great! Between the three of us we had the chocolate ice cream, the Chai, and the walnut. Incredible flavors!

Good
There are the usual chains that sell ice cream & then there the " ice cream shops " that are mediocre at best. If you're going to get ice cream anyway, get it from this place. It it priced the same as anywhere else only it's much better. Recommended
Very good ice cream
My husband and I had 2 scoops each of their home made ice cream. Coconut and maple walnut was very good and gluten free. The place was lined up and it was packed inside. Very limited seating. A couple tables were outside. They also had soup, wraps and salads that looked very appealing on other patrons tables.
Great staff!
I went in today for two americanos to go. I didn't realize that my American bank card would not be supported on the machine and I only had enough cash for one drink. When I discovered this, I asked the barista to only sell me one drink. She must have seen that I was flustered and exhausted and she offered to give me the second anyway. The americano was fantastic and the experience brightened my day. Thanks!
Small Scoops
I found Dee Dee's disappointing. I went on a perfect summer night, so we walked by the Commons and went to get ice cream. The selection was lacking, so I got the most adventurous flavour on the menu: mint chip. The scoops were small, and the prices were probably twice as much as they should have been. Majorly underwhelming.
Fresh cones
One of the best ice cream I had in Nova Scotia. I tried the NS Berries and was really good. The fresh cones are delicious!
La meilleure gourmandise d'Halifax !
Les Canadiens m'avaient recommandé d'aller manger une glace chez Deedee's, je n'ai pas été déçue, loin de là ! C'est devenu mon rituel du weekend, je faisais même un détour pour aller chercher ma glace. Une petite boutique pleine de charme incontournable. J'ai également essayé DeeDee's à Peggy's Cove, c'est toujours aussi bon ;)
So creamy and rich it blows your mind!
I didn't actually go TO Dee Dee's it was served at Edna. I had the Dee Dee's Vanilla which was paired with almond brittle and raspberry compote. Amazing.
Great place for Icecream or lunch, or a snack - a short walk from the Citadel
We were being shown around by locals who took us to Dee Dee's for Icecream mid afternoon. Our group had a variety of flavours and all were happy with the quantity and taste. Dee Dee's also have other foods so you can drop in here for brunch, lunch or just a coffee & snack. While in the area have a walk around the neighberhood as this is a lovely part of Halifax. The Citadel is only a couple of blocks away.

Tasty home baked food and good value for price
We stopped at Deedee's for lunch on our bike tour with I heart bike. Very friendly atmosphere, great food for the price - I had the salad plate and my friend had the grilled cheese and soup meal and both were excellent. While we were there, there was always a line up for the ice cream which seemed very tasty. We weren't in the mood for ice cream so we cant confirm unfortunately.
incredible ice cream... good for breakfast and lunch too
we have tried several flavours of the ice cream all were delicious. I also had the breakfast burrito one morning. It was pleasantly spicy and i would order it again it was so tasty. I had the quesadilla for lunch, with chicken. It was good too. Overall I highly recommend it
Awesome ice creme
We took my grandson there for an ice cream treat! Delicious! I had the spicy chocolate. Amazing. We've been back several times. Well price. Good service. Love the outside tables.
Nice icecream and coffee
We had lunch, coffee and icecream at DeeDee's. The menu is small, but the food is tastfull and the staff is nice. I think that most people just come for icecream and the icecream is great.
Best ice cream I've ever had in Canada
I have been craving great ice cream since a vacation to Leopold's in Georgia - which was once rated the best ice cream in the USA. Dee Dee's is my new place to crave. It was so amazing. The atmosphere was hip, but welcoming. The staff were really sweet and offered tastes. The price was comparable to going to an ice cream shop that doesn't make its own flavours. I had the Mexican Chocolate which was incredible. I would recommend getting it with a complimentary flavour on the bottom (maybe buttered almond) because it is spicy and you might want a cool down. They have take away containers of ice cream too! I only regret not going months ago.
Chillaxin
We searched for ice cream and found a little bit of heaven. What a wonderful little spot with plenty of tastes. The Mango Sorbet was spectacular. I would recommend this place to anyone. It has the old neighbourhood feel that we all crave while in the big city. Definitely going to visit again!
Stroll on the boarkwalk
I had a chocolate waffle cone for less then $5 bucks and it was amazing :) would highly recommend it 👍 service was great and my sister had a Saturday sunday which is 3 flavors with whipping cream for $5 bucks we enjoyed every mouthful
Burritos!!!
Small little ice cream shop off the beaten path, but it's the burritos I come for! Breakfast burritos, lunch burritos... all the burritos! So flavourful and cheap!!! Do yourself a favour and go.
Funky ice cream parlour
Just stopped here for a light lunch. Really neat little ice cream shop, limited seating, but most of seating is built over the radiators so a nice spot to grab a simple lunch when it is -10 degrees outside as it was the day we went. Great burritos and homemade soups. Didn't try the ice cream (-10 degrees!) but 2 youngsters there with their Mom were enjoying great looking sundaes. Display case full of interesting flavours. Will try someday when it is a little warmer.

Sweet, old school
A nice old school creamery! I liked the selection and the mint choc chip didn't have the artificial green colour which is good. Slightly strange to see one of the girls working there eating the dough batter as she was placing it on the tray. So I wouldn't want to rat thier cookies now. Otherwise, worth a visit
Very Nice Ice Cream
We stopped by for a quick bite to eat for dinner after travel that day and wanted the ice cream for desert. Very limited food menu including burrito; mostly vegetarian. The ice cream was very good. This is a very small neighborhood cafe with a few tables outside. The service is friendly and timely.
Do Dee Dee's!
This is some damn good icecream! It is a bit pricey, but it's made of quality ingredients and well worth it for an occasional treat. I was a bit disappointed in the small amount of icecream in my single scoop on my last visit... but I think the server was new and unsure. I don't recall that happening on previous visits. I'd like to get some of thier take-home containers next time, it'd be a nice quick dessert if you're having people over for dinner.
Very Good
I do have to say the Ice cream and Sorbets are very tasty. There's not a huge selection but you'll still find something you'll like. The only reason I rated it, Very good " instead of, Excellent " is because I think it is a little expensive. For one scoop of ice-cream they are asking for $3, 50. For a milkshake something around $5 or $6. I do get it is all homemade and made with good ingredients but it doesn't change the fact that it is a treat for me to go there and not something I can afford everyday.
