Mr & Mrs Bell Honeymoon (never written that before) 😍
We were booked into a Deluxe room, upon arrival I found out it was on the first floor, as I have limited mobility Clare was taken to see two alternatives plus the original room. She was shown the original room which was great, then a ground floor room overlooking bushes, not so great. Next it was a Villa with a pool, as we had only been married for 72 hours we decided to go for the Villa, however we had to pay over 30, 000 baht which in hindsight was excessive especially when guests are being upgraded FOC whilst we are here. It's our Honeymoon so that's very disappointing. Thankfully we are eating Villa side which is a la carte for lunch and dinner, great food, breakfast great also. The Villa (807) is great, pool brilliant. Food in main restaurant is not up-to the same standard as Villa side so thankfully paying for the upgrade is a godsend. The staff, the staff are incredible, every single one of them is a credit to the hotel. We are only half way through our Honeymoon so hopefully the weather holds!

Needs improvements
The fire show on the Saturday was very good, and the dj / atmosphere was good in the beach bar at night. We checked in a deluxe double with balcony and the room stunk of mould and damp, we tried to air it out and use candles to mask the smell but it was in the curtains and cupboards and not going away. We changed room for an extra 3000b, it was nicer, as it had a bath and sea view but the bed was smaller and hard as rocks and there was still a smell, so probably not worth the money to 'upgrade' - I would have thought they would change rooms as a gesture of good will but it is clearly all about making money here. In the morning we asked for some water from the beach restaurant at 10.40am and they refused us and told us they don't serve until 11am. The sun beds were dirty, doesn't take a lot to wipe them down in the morning. We found that the staff on the villa side were hospitable and knowledgeable, and the area was much cleaner. I would suggest just paying more for a villa as we ended up spending £650 for 3 days here. Including a £50 laundry fee for 1 load. It cost 600b return to get to Khao Lak in a taxi so unless you spend on taxis you will be stuck at this resort. I recommend hiring a car or bike for the days you are here so you can explore the local areas.
4th visit
We have just returned from our 4th visit to Apsara Beachfront Hotel & Villa where we had a brilliant holiday. The staff were excellent, always so friendly and helpful even with 1 of the receptionists (Mark) buying some medication for my wife when he had finished work and bringing it to us the next day. The food was delicious and would be changed to avoid any allergies without any fuss and the details remembered for the next time. We could not rate highly enough the cleanliness of the whole resort and the rooms which were cleaned daily. We would particularly like to thank Emee for making our stay memorable and we have already booked to return next January to the best hotel in Thailand and know others have done the same
What an amazing experience, great hotel in khaolak
My friend and I, first time to visit this hotel overall was great. They will gave you a best hospitality in thailand. Special mention to mark, ada, emee, yudi, gift in the reception they always their to help you and provide what you need and the restaurant in kinare the food is delicious. Thanks to apsara, we will comeback soon!!!!
Pool villa restaurant is not open
Staying here at the moment. Lovely hotel, upgraded to two Pool Villas to ensure we could use the extra restaurant in the Villa section. Please beware this is not open, no snacks served until 4.30 for an hour only - not as stipulated I. The brochure with TUI. You have a trek over the bridge to only restaurant that services all inclusive. They have effectively moved the villa Thai / Italian fusion restaurant to the main building which you get tokens to use but this is limited. I will be taking this up with TUI as mid sold! Not three restaurants, one opened at the moment and one you must pay for.
Beautiful clean and accommodating warm resort
The staff were friendly and accommodating and so helpful. The food was fantastic and portions were very adequate. The cleaners. Porters and restaurant staff could not do enough for us. So friendly and helpful The respect shown to guests was gratifying and so humble We will return again without a doubt We came here out of season and it was quiet. But that never stopped the staff catering for our needs or making us feel special throughout our trip and stay.
Worst experience i have ever had
Misunderstanding during check in. I was there to check in late evening. Arguing with front desk staffs for an hour about room type. I bough this voucher from friends and got confirmed that it was a suit seaview. But the staffs insist that it was not. It was a deluxe simple seaview type. After Several calls and spent lots of energy on it. I was like please give me anything. I want to rest! And they upgraded me to villa which i denied because i already living in a house with big pool. After checking and bla bla, i got the room that their reservation confirmed which is Suite sea view. I only stay one night and give away the other night. Because i felt like im desperately wants it so bad. So i check out the next day. I totally stay 12 hrs instead of 2 nights from the booking. Manager only came and asked how was the room. That's all. Never wanted to go back again. One of the " No " list for me
A few steps from Memories surf bar
First, the premises is nothing less than beautiful. A sprawling estate that spans North of Memories beach bar connected by a quaint bridge over a minute delta to the villas and all day dining to the south. Just walking around and inhaling the sight of fresh water meeting ocean and the peculiar flora and fauna that combines pine with coconut trees is astonishing. Not to mention the sparkling Andaman waves. This is my second visit and it's been a roller coaster to say the least. My first impression was a " cancellation " of my room due to " payment not received " even tho I had payment and order confirmation letters on hand. Checkin was not a pleasant nor seamless experience to say the least. Service is a hit or miss - I assume a top management issue. A few individuals shine: Yuni, Melchie and Amor; the cook at the egg station, housekeeper and a couple others. The rest meet the minimum level of polite but you will not feel a common energy across all staff that you might at other establishments, say The Sis Kata where I stayed recently. Breakfast I can recount easily - noodle bar, congee, egg station, ham, bacon, baked beans, salad bar, fruits, a couple cereals and toast. Weekends you'll see an addition of patongko and khao yum. Coffee is bordering on unpalatable. Room. Bed subpar. Upkeep subpar: bath curtain stained, walls stained with the remains of mosquitoes. Vanity chair stained. Forget about working remotely, WiFi poor. All three carrier signals also poor. Concalls will be consistently dropped reminiscent of a Verizon's " Can you hear me now? " after every 10 paces. As I'm writing this it is pitch dark and has been this way rolling on and off for a few days straight. Now it's understandable as we are far from developed infrastructure but the sense of hospitality and guest satisfaction is severely lacking. A call to ask if everything is ok? None. Fruit basket, nope. Any attempt at not only alleviating guest discomfort or ensuring the highest level of satisfaction is absent. As a matter of fact, service had the gall to charge 300bt to escape from the darkness to 7-11 which was swiftly dropped. In summary, as a guest we do try to be courteous, reasonable and understandable - covid, third party agents, lack of infrastructure etc etc. But let me be clear: we are not your friends being invited to your house. We are paying customers and thus expect accordingly. You probably have competitors out smiling you. I look forward to my next welcome back.
Hugely disappointing hotel but fantastic location
We stayed in Deluxe Room for 5 days 4 nights. The hotel was recommended to us by friends however on arrival it was clear that the hotel was not ready to reopen following closure due to COVID. The swimming pools at the resort side (as opposed to villa) were drained of all water and full of sand and fallen leaves. The whole garden area was covered in leaves and just in general disorder. The restaurants were not open for full hours. The room itself smelt fusty once the aromatic oils had run out, was basic and tired. There was nothing on the website to say that the hotels amenities were not fully open. On checking in we were informed that the road would be closed the following day due to trees being felled so would not be able to leave the hotel by car. The following day started with a power outage for a number of hours, we had to call the reception to see what was happening, no apology just that it was the governments fault. The next day the outage lasted most of the day and we could not drive out until after 3 pm. Sadly there was still no apology just blaming the work outside which I understand is out of their control but reception staff were abrupt when asked about a time line. Breakfast was basic but did follow social distancing and minimal contact. On a more positive note the Zeus restaurant was great value and the pizzas were lovely. The concierge service went out of their way to smile and be helpful. The location is fantastic, the beach is great for surfing and beach combing. Memories beach bar is a must with a great vibe. Over all in its present state the hotel is a 3 star not 4.5 and the website should be more honest.
Disappointing hospitality experience
We stayed in Deluxe Seaview Room. Swimming pool at the resort side (as opposed to villa) was under maintenance throughout the 5D4N period. It would have been nice for the hotel to inform guests when booking or after booking. The garden area was in dire need of cleaning, dried leaves on grounds everywhere. Resort wifi did not work the whole time. We informed the reception and when this was not rectified after repeated attempts, we gave up trying. One of us had a bad bruise from a fall and requested some ice for application. The reception informed us they could not get ice during restaurant closing hours because staff do not surrender the key to the reception. We had a blackout lasting an hour or so, during which no coffee could be made (this was during breakfast hours). When it did come on, we asked instead for coffee to be delivered to our room which never arrived. We do like the room - nothing to complain of (just surprised that there is no glass partition between the bathroom and bed area, instead a roll down curtain is in place) and the beach is perfect paradise. Staff in general are polite and sweet. We just find the inconsistencies in service quality too unpleasant to give it more than 3 stars.
Unbelievably Amazing
Long review, hopefully worth your time to read! Where to begin, from our first few minutes upon arrival to the last steps out of the hotel, every second has been wonderful, after a drooling 13 hour flights then a further 2 hour coach to the resort we arrived at 8am being greeted with a flavourfull cup of juice, and I mean jesus christ I could drink that all day instead of the 30+ cocktails they offer, however finding out check in was 2pm was fun in 35°+ heat but thankfully the staff rushed around managing to have us sorted by 10am and we left the reception to our very spacious double room with a gorgeous pool and sea view and air conditioning, jesus that's a life saver, over the course of our 14 day stay we managed to become almost family with most of the staff, knowing all of them on a first name basis and sharing memeories that will last with us a lifetime, the staff you can't fault at all 24 / 7, amazing guest service from the receptionist to the bar staff to the waiters all the way down to the cleaners, chefs and the hotels own taxi service, having laughs left right and centre, the managment is some of the best I've experianced in any hotel, smiles all around from everyone! They make you feel like you belong, the facilities are amazing too, from the pools with slides / built in Jacuzzi's all the way down to the library / comouter area and kids playzone theres something for everyone, plus you have firepits in the middle of the closed off pool / resturant, plus you have the oceon which is ridiculously warm " omg yes please " only a 30 second walk / view distance from the pool if that, high tide is stunning when you can stand on the lit up night bridge and watch all the sealife flow below you, also waterbuffalo frequently visit the river / sea, the waves can be a lot of fun also! Be careful of the undercurrant though, the buffet here is to die for, the cuisine changes daily, international one night, bbq the next then thia and so on and so forth, if you want to spend a little money I recommend the dinner on the beach evening, you get your own little hand built teepee on the warm soft sand with a stunning menu and a bittle of wine, after a long day drinking cocktails by the pool it tops it off, after your meal you can head to the bar with friendly attentive barstaff and make some more amazing memories, this place is also no more than a 8 minute walk from the best elephant sanctuary around, amazing location for the sea, attractions, resturants and bars, the town centre however is about 15 minutes in a taxi! But you have a little in hotel shop that is very friendly, I apoligise again for the long review but I honestly couldnt find a fault in this amazingly located, amazingly run, amazing staff hotel! I really hope this review makes you consider staying here because I have had the best holiday I can think of.
Yet another amazing holiday at the Apsara
This is our second holiday at the Apsara, and it just felt like we were coming home, the staff in every department are fabulous, nothing is too much trouble and they go out of there way to make your stay unforgettable. The beach is amazing, and the sea is so warm, we never saw any jellyfish at all and we swam every day so I don't know wether it's a seasonal appearance. I must also say a big thank you to the director of room staff who located my watch which I misplaced, they have also offered to send it onto me which is wonderful news. So if you are looking for a truly wonderful restful holiday with all the trimmings in the wonderful khao lac area of this beautiful country then look no Further than the Apsara hotel and Villa Spa, you certainly won't regret it. We will certainly be back again.
super amazing
this was our second time to this amazing hotel from the moment we arrived untill the moment we left the staff are the best we have ever had reception staff always on hand to help. all the staff from the cleaners, bar staff, restaurant staff etc work very hard to make your holiday perfect. you will see some bad reviews but dont be put off we never had anything to complain about. our rep Suzie was also very good the best we have had anywhere always spoke to you. i would like to say Ko and Anngra hope spelt correct were always very polite and helpful in the bar thankyou guys. In my point of view its the perfect place for relaxation try a treatment from the ladies near the pool very reasonable and they are always smiling. Please dont listen to negative reviews as there are no negative points
🌞🏖
Beautiful place
We have just returned from 2 lovely weeks at the Aspara. Fabulous location, polite and very friendly staff, special mention to the waitresses in Kinnaree and the guys on the bar, Fahmi, Mike, Ko & Yudo (hope that's right?) who were willing to engage with you, good food & drinks, gorgeous gardens, pristine beaches as far as the eye can see, what more could you want? It was our first visit to Thailand and we were very happy with our choice. If we have any suggestions for improvement it would be to change the 2 tier system which operates there. All inclusive isn't quite AI. Two of the restaurants are not included, except for one night per week's stay and ice creams & some beverages were excluded too. Slightly disappointing although that's not to complain about the buffet food, just it's nice to get away from this occasionally. It was however disappointing to find holes in the bed linen. We would go back there except if we went back to Thailand we'd explore a different part of the country.
Poor, wouldnt stay again!
Overall an Ok stay. We really wanted to like this hotel and was looking forward to our stay. However straight away we were hit with dissapointment when we were told we are only entitled to use the buffett and must use a single one use voucher for one of the 2 restaurants. This was annoying as it is advertised as full use off the buffet and two restauraunts. VERY Misleading by TUI & Hotel. I have never been to an all inclusive before when you havent been able to use all the restauraunts. (Mexico all inclusives are too such a high standard EVERYTHING is included. Maybe my standards should be lowered for Thailand.) The food in the buffet was good some nights but very hit and miss and abit repatitive. Also as an all inclusive guest you are treated like second class when it comes to drinks, if you are paying you will recieve cans of branded drinks, proper cocktails, real fruit juice.. however if you are an all inclusive you are not entitled to the canned drinks or proper cocktails. The cocktails are awful nearly undrinkable. The cocktails are literally flavoured water with very slight alcohol contents. The '7up' is in a jug more like water with lemons in. The drinks were the biggest dissapointment also the promise of a swim up bar however they dont say you can only get drinks there if you are staying in a villa (Again treated like second class). TV is very small and only two channels work at once, always freezing and overall again very dissapointing. The wifi seriously needs sorting out sometimes it doesnt work and other times it is so slow it would be quicker to send a message via carrier pigeon back home. Wouldn't mind slow wifi if there was actually anything to do the hotel has very limitied activities everything that is remotly fun usually comes with a price tag, you have to pay to use the pool table / dart board etc. Entertainment of a night is nil to none, occasionaly a man who pops up and sings a few songs appears every so often. Also the sunbeds at the pool are plastic, very flimsy and not many of them at all. Get there early!!!! The hotel says they enforce that they dont allow sunbed hogging but can guarantee by 10am there is no sunbeds left but also no people on them? Really annoying. To end on a positive note the grounds of the hotel and beach are gorgeous the pool is nice and the staff are lovely. But definitly wouldnt stay again.
Entspannung pur
Below Expectation
For the kind of price that they are charging, I think it's fair to expect something better from this resort. This was our 8th visit to Khao Lak and there're many hotel choices at the same price range with better facilities & nicer ambience. Breakfast was ordinary at best, wifi was spotty & inconsistent, pool was small relative to the size of the resort, jacuzzi not working at the pools at the hotel side (looked like it has been in the state of disrepair for a while), room is fairly basic without much interior deco. Hotel is located in a quiet part of Khao Lak and is approx 15 mins ride by songthaew to the more happening & vibrant Bang Niang area for more food options, night market or shopping. We had a rental car & that made restaurant hunting easier, hence skipping the limited food options outside the resort. A few positive points about the resort are clean surrounding, friendly staff, an excellent beach in front of the resort & happy hours at the beach bar Zeus. If you prefer a resort with more vibrant surrounding & nearer to the amenities, I certainly would not recommend this hotel.
Ok not good
we arrived las hotel in our trip first impressions good, We were shown to our room superior 341 not having stayed in the two previous hotels with delux and superior rooms I expected the same standards it smelt was dirty I was early sick with smell moved to 142 no better they started to clean the room put air conditioning and air fresheners in a bubbling machine I was gutted after calming down I thought we're only hear for 6 days. rooms have very little space for clothes so I mainly lived out of my case we were bitten to a level I have now got cellulitis and a lot of these occurred in bed. breakfast ok food is Luke ward not great but got by we ate in the beach bar which was good Beach bar waitress Za is excellent and the boys on a night went to see the elephants behind memories very good and the food at memories is good. On returning to 142 the smell on the corridors is overwhelming I was sick prior to entering the room rooms are old need redecorating and revamping. thank god I didn't go all inclusive it would have braised me off at the standard I was told superior. / deluxe is classed as standard check out miserable no thank you have u enjoyed it and no follow up from the room no I wouldn't recommend it due to the room standards smells foisty rides in room Food Luke warm previously prior to this stayed at Dusit Thani krabi they need to take look at standards there
A few changes needed
At The Apsara now, been here 10 days in swinup room. Location as others have said is a short taxi ride anywhere, so the fact there is little to do other than the bars, means days and evenings involve drinking. An animation organiser could really encourage people to do some simple activity other than drink. The hotel has it says petanque for instance, but never seen anybody playing. Food is ok but not a great deal of choice. and only one paper napkin per meal!. Swim ups nice but again sun lounger on deck not the same as by big pool, with no cushion on top so quite hard and not comfortable. Not all bars are included in AI. which is a shame because the best one is not included. Overall rather disappointed after reading reviews on this forum.
Amazing Stay😀
Beautiful beachfront hotel.. Staff were really helpful and so friendly.. Very relaxing quiet.. Amazing food and the fruit coolers to die for.. Amazing surroundings garden and hotel immaculate.. Great for families and those looking a very relaxing time.. And last our little friend Yuni who made our stay all the better..
Good stay
The hotel is quite nice, we are satisfied in general by all the services offered by Apsara Beachfront Resort (rooms are big and clean, nice pool, nice environnement, etc.). A bit disappointed by the food and beverage (maybe due to low season).
Apsara Beachfront Resort never disappoints
Returning guest and no regrets. The uber efficient staff at the front desk are so welcoming, friendly and very helpful. This visit I was glad to get the opportunity to listen to their site musician Bond, and his great choice of songs, and sung very well indeed! Grateful to Apsara and team again for their hospitality and friendliness.. Situated in a beautiful part of Khao Lak, the water can be as inviting as the water at Surin or Tachai island. Visitors can observe different aspects of the horizon as the grounds are quite extensive. The main swimming pool allows for refreshing unobstructed views of the Andaman coast, and better still, the sea is generally calmer to swim at, as opposed to other beaches in the Khao Lak area. I admire Apsara's continuous efforts to Go Green, with glass bottles replacing plastic bottles and their efforts to keep the beach clean. Thank you to all at Apsara. Between you and me, I wouldn't waste time looking further, the Apsara is a gem for nature, beaches, and the food doesn't disappoint. The birdlife i witnessed at the Apsara is abundant. You may even see an elephant going for a walk in the morning. (no shackles or bull-hooks)
Nice surroundings but worn down rooms
Overall we where pleased with our stay, our son (5year) loved the slide and pool at the beach front. There where allot of sun beds and despite that the hotel seemed busy we always managed to find some where to sit. The room was a bit disappointing, it seemed worn down and not clean. You should be aware that the " villa " part of the hotel and resort are connected via a bridge, which makes it seem to be not part of the same hotel. The food in the breakfast buffet was okay, very standard hotel buffet. We also had dinner one evening at the buffet, which was Italian night, very disappointing and way to expensive. The resort also had an a la carte restaurant, there the food was really good and fast - which is definitely a plus when dining with kids.
Fahrerservice inklusive.
Spokojny hotel - super atmosfera
Hotel oferuje pomoc z wycieczkami - bezpiecznie i profesjonalnie. Super hotel.
Good and bad
Here we go, the positives are the rooms and the staff. We had a pool villa which was amazing. Very large and always kept clean although if you want to watch TV don't bother. The negatives, we went all inclusive. Waste of money. The drinks you get are the cheaper and weaker brands. You can only get drinks till 11pm. Concerning the food you can only eat in 2 x restaurants. You can eat in the buffet one in the main hotel and on the villa side you get given a special all inclusive menu which is VERY limited. If you want to eat in the other restaurants you can but you pay full whack, it's not subsidised. There are loads of amazing restaurants in the area. Also if you stay villa side there is a waste bit of ground / pond which is riddled with mosquitos The beach is vast and clean with good / safe surf for surfers.
- Dinner Heiligabend Max.
Good but a few improvements needed
Second visit to Apsara and we enjoyed a relaxing few days at a pool villa. The villas were still well maintained, clean and peaceful as they were during our previous stay. Lunch and room service was really good however breakfast was a massive let down. At the breakfast area beside the villas you have to order your food which is fine however everyday all our meals came out at different times and one of us had finished before the other had even received theirs. You have to order your juice aswell which I found frustrating as you couldn't help yourself to more when you were thirsty and it felt like you were being limited to one glass. Being unable to eat dairy I also asked for soya milk for my coffee on our first day, I was told this would need to be ordered which was completely fine however over the next 3 days when I asked I either got told it hadn't arrived or staff didn't understand what I was saying. Before staying at Apsara we had a few nights at the Marriott also in Khao Lak where this was never a problem and they accommodated for lots of different food types and allergies. I also know most of the shops sell soya milk as I ended up just buying one for our room from a local shop. Would return again in the future if staying in a pool villa and some improvements were made to the main hotel however of looking for a standard room there are nicer hotels in the area with better facilities.
Hotel Resort
A well deserved Rest at a resort that provides first class customer service
This was my fiancé' Jackie's first experience of Thailand, with many people asking " why go so far for just one week " ? having personally been to Thailand on many occasions its easier to understand why we made the effort. Transfer from the airport in Phuket to Khao Lak 1 and a Half Hours (there abouts) In summary: Resort spread over 2 sides by a connecting bridge; one side main reception and spa and the other side where the private villas were located - separate restaurants and bars feed both sides. We stayed Half Board - opting for a deluxe room for 2 nights We upgraded to a pool villa for 5 nights at a cost of BHAT10, 000 (roughly £250) and well worth it if you get the chance (low season is the best time as prices soar and availability is limited in High Season) We went in Low Season; expected some rain mixed with sunshine - intermittent Still HOT and cloudy - we had 4 days of sunshine which was brilliant and the occasional downpour. Best time to go is December - May (high Season), May - Aug (Low Season - Hot / clammy / Rainy), Sept - Nov (Wet Season - Avoid!!!) We booked with Destination 2 Go, arriving in resort on Friday 22 June 18 to be met by the most tentative staff. Check in was a breeze, cool towels and a welcome drink and we were whisked off to the room to settle in for the night. We ordered room service food was very well presented, tasted great, good choice and NO CRAZY ROOM service charges (brilliant) - on average BHAT 250 - 500 no more. Day 1 - Paradise in terms of weather, Zeus Bar offer great food at realistic prices for lunch, happy hour 4-6 two for one drinks. Day 2 - Tropical storm and overcast - WiFi and reading day pretty much Day 3 - 7 Move to Villa - Sun time Dinner at the Napolini Restaraunt fantastic portions, A-La-Carte menu, top service and beautiful choices of food. Breakfast - Buffet - Fresh eggs, meats, juices, continental choices and Asian option. Location - Unfortunately (and it didn't really bother us because I wanted to relax) you are a bit remote with a couple of restaurants nearby (walking distance), nearest supermarket (7 Eleven) is not walkable from resort. We hired a Moped from the restaurant at the end of the road for BHAT 250 a day which gave us the freedom we needed to explore. Exploring - Khao Lak Markets are on Mon, Wed and Saturday - 1 visit should be enough Tsunami - Museum opposite the market - worth a look see visits to James Bond Island, Floating village, Mangroves trip in canoes and Temples (with the added luxury of Monkeys all over the place) - £68 PP and Well worth it believe me. Waterfalls - a couple nearby worth a ride out on the bike, in fact the bike was brilliant for dropping around different beaches, shops etc gave us great freedom. Food costs are similar to UK really (eating in the hotel that is) Negatives (Tiny Tiny Tiny Points here) : WiFi at the Villa side very disappointing; you pay more to stay there and get very limited internet access which was not good - Hotel needs to sort this out (Mr Golf please take note). Remote Location - very little to do off resort Return Taxi to Khao Lak - BAHT 500 A huge thank you to the team that looked after us for the week, can't thank you all enough; its nice to feel valued when your on holiday for a change and actually get spoken to and welcomed. We would DEFINITELY be back again!!!! Mark and Jackie
Perfect hotel, perfect place, perfect food= splendid holiday
I highly recommend this hotel if you're thinking of visiting this area in Khao Lak. Teeming with biodiversity, the birds and plants are a sight to behold. The infinity pool, perfect for catching a little exercise and watching the sun go down. This is one pool out of 3. Swings and hammocks conveniently placed around the property. Definitely the perfect place to unwind. The food was excellent. All staff members at Apsara so efficient, friendly and happy to help you enjoy your stay. Massage in the sala by river was uber brilliant. There aren't many beaches one can swim at in Khao Lak, but this area is a gem!
zum 2. Mal und immer wieder
Wir waren jetzt zum 2. Mal in diesem schönen Hotel.
If you want quiet good place!
We stayed here for two weeks, hotel is lovely upgraded to a sea view room which was excellent, however the bed was far too hard for our liking. Breakfast I thought was excellent with a fantastic choice of food. Zeus bar was good but over priced good cocktails 🍹. Staff were lovely and would do anything for you. This hotel is a taxi ride to town centre which ended up costing us which we didn't really budget for, so if you want to be near town centre choose a different hotel. The entertainment was the same couple each night which became very boring, I think entertainment program may need looking at. All in all a fab hotel for facilities and warm lovely staff but location not good if you want to get out and about. We went to memories bar along the beach a few times and if your looking for day trips speak to pod at the bar he's fantastic.
Good Value for Money
This is a 2-3 Star Hotel in my opinion. The front desk staff are really lovely and all around the staff are accommodating. The breakfast is pretty basic and overall for what I paid I cannot grumble but, I would not stay there again.
Haevenly
Stayed at the hotel for 7 days. On arrival we were greeted by a beautiful and friendly young lady who explained everything to us. We were also escorted to our rooms and staff explained how the room works, mini bar, tv, ect. The room was spacious, clean with a big shower, no bath. Unfortunately we had a room next to the road leading up to the hotel which meant that it was quite noisy in the morning. The grounds and amenities of the hotel is simply out of this word, clean with an amazing infinity pool. The hotel is also situated right at the beach, which means you can indulge in its warm waters and enjoy the stunning views. Breakfast is not the best, or shall I say not 4star standards, but palatable. The food at the Hotel is generally very expensive but tasty. Try the pizza its nice but stay away form burgers and meat. Zues bar is the best with happy hour between 4 and 6 bar. A special thanks to Nueng who provided us with top notch service at the bar. He simply knows what customer service is all about. Also try the bar at the Villa's they also have happy hour. It must be noted that all the staff at the hotel are very friendly and it is very nice to see amount of young people, who I presume are from khao Lak, whom the hotel trains and works for the hotel. We had an amazing time and will go back to the hotel anytime.
Tolles Hotel
Exceptional staff and hotel
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for the last 4 days of our holiday. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by welcoming staff who quickly and efficiently took our cases and showed us through to check in. Check in was smooth we had a chance to speak with the manager who assured us the guest satisfaction was number 1 priority at the resort and he wasn't wrong The hotel is clean and tidy and there is a huge beach to the front of the hotel. Rooms are cleaned and dressed to a high standard. We had a gecko in our room on the second night so called reception to remove it. Within a couple of minutes Wat from housekeeping came and quickly caught it with a can of non harmful gecko repleant and his skill. He also swept the floor in the room afterwards. The food at the hotel is very good and all the restaurant and bar staff maintained a high level of service. Food is bit more expensive than outside the hotel but worth it for the setting and quality We will return here at some point in the future i'm sure
I guess that depends on what room you get
The hotel is very large, crowded but you can always find a spot, is full of European tourists and well maintained. Staff are cheerful and nice. Unfortunately, the room we got stank of mold and due to mosquitoes we could not ventilate it properly. There were a few minor problems, such as dirt on the walls, black mold stains all over the curtains and plumbing problems. But the big thing for us was the poor air quality in the room. The bed is 2 singles pushed together. Not ideal for couples.. The hotel is big, so if you don't want to walk a lot, ask for a room in the main area or near the pool and the beach. The rooms close to the parking lot are noisy and far. Breakfast was good.
Perfect Getaway for 2
We had a smooth and enjoyable stay as soon as we arrived at the hotel until we left. There were welcome drinks upon arrival and I had emailed the hotel requesting an early check in which was great as we could check in at 11am instead of having to wait till 2pm. Because of our early check in we were able to put our bags in our room and relax for the rest of the day. We stayed in the double deluxe room with a sea view and balcony, it was beautiful spacious and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful but some of their English isn't the best so you may have to explain in simpler terms or speak to another member of staff- This was not such a big issue for us we never had any problems. The infinity pool is right on the beach with a stunning view which can make you forget everything while your there. We paid for 10 nights with breakfast only as we had been advised it's so cheap out there that there was no point to go all inclusive- This was a good move as it was sooo cheap out there I actually felt bad that we were paying so little. Depending on which part you stay in is dependent on where you would typically eat throughout the day and evening, we only went to the villa side once and there was no difference in food, atmosphere, pools or the beach in fact we found our side to be a lot better, the only difference there is the villa apartments with their own pool which we didn't need but others may enjoy more privacy. Many days we ate at the Zeus bar which is a lovely restaurant and bar on the beach (A la Carte) they have range of food and the cocktails are amazing!! The prices are very reasonable too. They have different lounging areas- wooden swings, bean bags, sun chairs etc to relax in the shade as the sun was so hot with temperatures reaching 37 degrees. They have table tennis available if you want a little bit of activity from all the relaxing. A few days into the holiday after we had settled in we took a walk along the beach and found a restaurant called Rimlay 2 it is a small family run restaurant not which is the next one along from the hotel, the food was amazing and dirt cheap so we ended up having lunch their most days, you would turn left if you were looking at the sea and you will find it. We booked all of our excursions with Khoa lak vista tours prior to arrival and paid when we got there this helped us plan our days, I would highly recommend this tour company they really looked after us and it was a great price. We booked to do the elephant trekking and bathing and bamboo rafting with a visit of their tsunami memorial and turtle conservation, we also did 6 islands including phi phi by speedboat, all of which our experiences we shall cherish forever. We booked a private driver for the day who took us to Tiger Kingdom in Phuket and jet skiing as they did not have this at our beach due to noise. Phuket is a tourist area and whilst had many places to visit and things to do we couldn't wait to get back to our beautiful town and hotel. This area is relatively quiet but they have some great bars- Happy Snappers being one of them with live entertainment and the best cocktails. You will have to get a taxi into town which is 300 TB which is just over £5 and you can find taxis waiting outside the restaurants and bars for your journey home. I would definitely recommend having the aroma massage outside on the beds near the spa, my boyfriend and I had a couples massage and it was so nice that we had another one before we left but you will need to book these. If you like to sunbathe get your partner (your fella) to go down to the pool in the morning and leave your towel there as the loungers or the best ones are gone very quickly this may annoy some people but it's what you have to do for the best seats. We always had seats on the beachfront next to the pool for quick access to the pool and sea and no one to get in the way of your sunlight. The sunsets are around 6.30pm and we were mesmerised every time. We got to light a lantern on the beach after our evening meal which is something I had always wanted to do. 10 nights is enough time to have a holiday of lifetime and not feel like you needed more time. I would 100% go back to this hotel and the area it is now one of my favourite places I have ever visited.
Perfect quiet getaway with loved ones!
Me and my boyfriend would want to have a really quiet, peaceful with beautiful beaches getaway as we are from a very busy city life, and to my surprise, Apsara has it all! I fell in love with this place and the resort so much that we didn't want to leave! Everything was just PERFECT. A Receptionist named A. J. gave us a good service as we asked if he could upgrade our room to deluxe room, and he did! We stayed for a few days and we didn't leave our resort at all! We dined at Kinnaree Restaurant most of the time, the food was really good and the price is reasonable! I would say quality food and drinks! Serenity Delight is a must-try! You'll definitely love it! The waiter named Ram and Nuan who served us are both really good at recommending food and drinks and they are really friendly! There are many flies around while we were eating, quite disturbing. While the Napalai Restaurant needs some improvement on the food. The steamed fish we had was abit rough, stir-fried vegetables was abit overcooked and too soft, our green curry beef was abit tough, overall the ambience was good as the restaurant is facing the pool area. On the other hand, our room was so clean and comfortable, the staff and waiters was really helpful and friendly, they make us feel so comfortable during our stay. If you would a quiet and beautiful beach getaway, Apsara Beachfront Resort and Villa is definitely the BEST choice for you!
Lovely Hotel
This hotel is smaller than others we have stayed at, but the service was much better. We were all inclusive, with first choice. Our room was very nice, a good size with a very big bed! The bathroom was visible from the bedroom through a large window but there was a blind for privacy. There was a safe in the room, which was free. It made a nice change not to be charged for this service! We were in room 301, top floor, of which there was 3. We had a view of one of the pools and a partial sea view. There is Wifi in the room and all over the hotel, even on the sun beds near the beach. The staff at this hotel were really friendly and the service was very good. The first few days of our stay, we noticed the table we was at didn't get the attention of some other the others, so we sat at the other tables from then on! There was one waitress of distinction, Jaja, she got to know us and didn't need to be asked for drinks. She knew our order and just brought them to our table, topping up when empty. The food here was really good, best We've had on an all inclusive. Any reports that say otherwise can't be true. I'm quite a fussy eater and had no trouble here. There is an a la'carte restaurant, which you can visit once a week but we didn't bother. The food in the buffet was good and you're not tied to keeping an appointment, you're on holiday, appointments are for the rat race! As mentioned, this is a small hotel, compared to some. There are 3 pools, the main infinity pool, one at the villas and one for the swim up rooms. All can be used by anyone. None of them are large but I didn't see any overcrowded. There is direct beach access, so you could swim in the sea. Although the sea could be rough and there was a rip tide, so you had to be careful. The only thing I didn't like, was the all inclusive guests only had 1 bar in the main hotel and 1 at the villas. It would have been nice to have access to all. We did 2 excursions during our stay. The overnight Phi Phi and Khao Sok National park. Both were good, the Phi Phi tour is also sold as a day trip but the overnight version takes you to James Bond island plus more and you see a fire show on Phi Phi in the evening. You then are able to be on the beach where they filmed The Beach early, as later it gets crowded. This tour will not disappoint. The Khao Sok National Park tour, you visit the tsunami site, do an elephant trek, which is really good fun and you have a canoe ride through the park. Both these excursions were good, usually we come away disappointed but not this time.
Thieving staff and a rude manager who wouldn't want to catch them
We were having a lovely Thai break until we made the mistake of leaving a faulty safe open with our belongings inside. A couple of days later we checked my girlfriends purse to change some of the GBP's we had brought along. We were horrified too find £100 missing and promptly reported it to the front desk, who told us nothing like this had happened for a long time (a year). We asked the manager to check back through cctv to see who the culprit may have been and were told there was several of the staff in the vicinity between the times the theft took place. When we asked to take the matter further we were taken to a library room and shown the only one suspect (although he earlier told us several staff were near our room), a teary maid who stood accused of the robbery. We asked to go to the police station and the maid was dragged along to stand accused although we doubted her involvement. Things got even more outrageous as the whole situation was treated as a joke with the local police laughing along, the manager stood there saying this was the first time anything like this had taken place although earlier admitting it was not the first time, he talked to myself and my girlfriend in a rude and obnoxious manner. The police informed us that as we leave the next day there was no way the purse could be checked for fingerprints and we basically had to accept the theft to which the manager looked smugly relieved about! So with not even an apology and a thief still at large among the staff we left the station to closely guard our possessions for the next twenty four hours. A tragic end to what should have been a great break.
Macht (in den Ort) hin- u. zurück also 600 Baht, ca. 15€. Kurzer Anruf beim Housekeeping.. äh sorry Mister - The Hairdryer-bag is'nt in the Room.. AHA - was kostet dieser Beutel?
Great Hotel with fantastic staff
Apsara is 4 star beachfront hotel, about 1 hour 20 minutes drive, by taxi North from Phuket airport. The hotel will provide an airport pick up service on request. Apsara is quite a large resort in land area and thus never feels overcrowded. There are lots of small quite private spots in the resort to explore. The beach itself is enormous and you can walk unrestricted for miles. The hotel has two parts, the main residence side where reception and most of the rooms are located. There is also the villa side which is separated from the main resort by a small river, which is crossed by a bridge. (At low tide you can easily wade across the river). The 50 or so single story private villas have a golf buggy service from the main reception. The rooms are very spacious with all modern conveniences, but only deluxe level rooms or above have a separate bath. The baths are large enough to take two in the deluxe level rooms. The Hotel is well maintained with nice gardens and kept as clean as possible for a tropical climate. Sun beds in the main resort area by the infinity pool usually get taken by about 9am when the hotel is full. But you can usually find one in the less prime, more out of the way areas. As it is a public beach there are no hotel sun beds on the beach. The hotel's location means it is necessary to use a taxi (500-600 baht return) to get to the main shopping area in Khao Lak. Taxi's can be arranged by the hotel taxi desk or if you prefer there is usually a few parked just outside the main gate. Beware, a taxi in Thailand can mean a covered pick truck with bench seats and no seat belts. There is a small shop with essentials in the resort and market stall traders visit the resort on a Sunday afternoon / evening. About 15 minutes walk away back down the main road (or along the beach) there is a mini market and a selection of local restaurants. The popular Memories beach restaurant is just a 5 minute walk away through the trees (or across the beach) just beside the private villas. I had a medical problem whilst in Thailand, which necessitated 3 trips to the local Emergency room about 30 minutes drive north of the hotel. I cannot praise the Apsara enough, as they could not have been more supportive in helping me out in dealing with the medical issue. They made my stay for the remaining 3 days of my holiday as comfortable as possible and even allowed me a 3 hour extension to our checkout time which meant we could go straight from my room to the airport. This made a huge difference to the journey home. Well done to Golf, his management team and the drivers who made all the difference in what could have been, but was not due to their efforts, a disastrous end to our holiday. The ordinary people of Thailand are what makes this such a lovely place to visit and it is memories of all of them, that I will always remember. Well done again Apsara and I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a quite holiday in Thailand
Avoid Avoid Avoid
Please avoid this resort at all costs. The rooms are very shabby and have seen better days. My main issue with this resort is that I had booked an all-inclusive package. Quite unusual I thought for Thailand but as I was aware that this resort was quite remote I felt it was te sensible thing to do. I have been to Thailand a few times before so knew that things were always of a decent standard.... how wrong could I be..... Shorty after arriviing from a long flight from the UK and a confusing check-in we decided to have a stroll round the grounds of the resort. As it was very hot a nice cold beer was the ores of the day. We settled down at a table at the extremely basic Zeus Beach Bar only to be told that the use of this bar was not part of our all-inclusive package and we could only use the " middle bar " I enquirer at reception to be told this was not the case and they would inform the manager at the Beach Bar. We went back to our room to un-pack and shower and while we were doing this a letter was slipped under our door telling us that the only bar we could drink in was the one that was know as the " middle bar " and the lunch and dinner arrangements had changed from an International Buffet to a Mini Buffet. I immediately went to reception to speak with the Manager who told me that 2 out of the 4 bars in the resort had closed for the season and she would " allow me " to drink in the Zeus Beach Bar!!! After this things just went from bad to worse... Attempting again to have a beer in the Beach Bar the bar-man had to run to the " middle bar " to get our beer as it was only the cheap draught beer we were allowed and they only had a tap in that bar. Upon investigation one of the other bars that the Manager said was closed for the season looked like it had been demolished some time ago. The food in the Mini Buffet was a joke and always stone cold. One night dinner consisted of cold chicken legs and baked potato. When I complained about the chicken being cold they took my plate away and microwaved it..... including the salad that was on my plate. We found that many customers in the resort were also very very unhappy about the standard as well as the food. After 2 nights us and quite a few guests that were on the same fight as we were all moved to the 5 star hotel along the beach as we could not stand it anymore!!! I think the management of this hotel should be ashamed of the way their guests were treated. Although not the most expensive hotel to stay at you still expect things to be of a decent standard which clearly it was not. Please do not book this hotel as they simply don " t care for their paying guests. They ruined the first 3days of my holiday and do not deserve to be in business.
Low Season Stay
Currently staying at the Apsara Beachfront in one of the Pool Villas with our own private pool. Apsara has some very good points: 1) The Pool Villas are very big, certainly a great size for two people and they are kept immaculately clean by the staff. The pool has been cleaned every day. Great job! 2) The grounds are very pretty. The design of the villa part of the resort is exactly what one would imagine. Main swimming pool very clean also. The gardens are well maintained. 3) Free DVD rental a nice touch for when you want an evening in. 4) Quality of food from restaurant has been good. Despite all of this there were a couple of things that I think are letting the hotel down: 1) We stayed all inclusive. The all inclusive menu is quite limited. It is the same menu for lunch and dinner and you can only eat in one restaurant for every meal. I have stayed all inclusive many times before in other hotels and usually was allowed to eat (even for one night) at another restaurant in the complex or at least from the main menu. We are staying for 10 days so to eat 20 meals (lunch and dinner) from the same menu is not overly exciting. They do offer a daily set menu but it all very much depends if you like what is on offer. Finally today had to give in and just pay to be able to have a bigger selection from the main menu. (Can't help but feel Apsara is hoping that people on longer holidays will want a bigger selection and just pay). Kind of annoying considering the costs of all our upgrades was just over £800 for the two of us for all inclusive and pool villa). 2) Drinks - All inclusive drink option is OK. Good selection of cocktails. Some limitations annoying. For example you get a choice of Banana, Papaya, or Banana and Papaya milkshakes but can't order a vanilla or chocolate all inclusive. Very small thing but it seems like an awful lot of rules for an all inclusive holiday. (and considering all milkshakes are the same price on the main menu). Again hoping that guests will just pay to order from the bigger selection menu. 3) Biggest issue. Being low season the hotel is not busy and understandably most of the bars / restaurants are closed. The villa side is not particularly close to the beach (it borders the river not the sea). It's a good 8 minute to the main beach. Zeus beachbar looks great but of course is excluded from all inclusive (even for soft drinks). This is a shame because the beach is much nicer on the resort side. We complained about this (not being able to get a soft drink on the resort side) and were told we would need to order our drinks from the villa side and walk them over to the beach on resort side (a good 10 minute walk) or order the golf carts to help carry our drinks over. A limiting and stupid rule considering it is very very quiet here. Makes it quite a chore to go to the beach. In the end just taking water from our room over to beach side. Overall the potential here is amazing. Beautiful beach (on resort side) beautiful grounds but the rules over the food and not being able to enjoy a drink on the beach has really let it down. Most people on holiday (even those that go all inclusive) will want to enjoy a drink on the beach. I can't help but feel that as an all-inclusive we have limited ourselves. Would also recommend upgrading to pool villa (amazing). Almost four stars but not quite there for me personally and probably wouldn't stay here as all-inclusive again.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS!
I am currently on holiday at the Apsara Kao lak! It is so good I thought I would write a little review whilst I am here! I was a little worried before I arrived at this hotel as it has received a few bad reviews lately. All I can say to them is, if you can moan about this hotel you will moan about anything and I suggest you just stay at home!! My partner and I are having an amazing time, the hotel and staff are lovely, the beach is amazing, the food is gorgeous and there is a different theme every night, the pina coladas are far too good, we have been booking trips through the lady at the front desk (not the travel rep they are a rip off and they tell you they provide a better trip, believe me they don't!) and so far they have been brilliant. It is a quiet resort but that's what my partner and I were looking for so if you are the same you will love it. They had a little party tonight to celebrate being open for 10 years it was so sweet they provided music, canapés and a fabulous cake! Thank you to all the staff at aspara for making my 2017 holiday everything I wanted it to be and more! I will be recommending you to ALL of my friends! X
A total disappointment
This hotel was such a disappointment and would advise anyone not to go as it will spoil your holiday. This review will echo that of Joanne H as she couldn't be more correct, and I'm not sure what everyone else was looking at! We asked for pool access rooms and although we had these they only had the sun for up to 1 hour a day and if this was a north facing room you got absolutely nothing. When we arrived at the buffet we were greeted with 8 foods, one was always rice, one was potatoes, one was pasta, and one was soup, and one was fish, one vegetables, and the other two were meat and if you didn't like the sauces then you would go hungry! The food was lukewarm at best and although this was rectified it was never hot. The drinks were horrible. Beer and soft drinks were being transported from the main bar in jugs or refilling of the sprite or coke bottles at 7.30am and then taken to the beach and kept until needed. So you can imagine you what it would taste like at 3pm in the afternoon! That's if you felt safe enough to walk to the beach bar with the stray dogs wandering around. We asked to move but were told it would cost £1, 800 to move somewhere which was not all inclusive. If you're looking for entertainment or any life what so ever this is not the place. The most interesting thing is watching one local push his bike along the beach! There are no bars or anything close by the nearest town is a 15 minute drive away and the most exciting thing there is a McDonalds where you could get food that was hot. Over half of the town is closed anyway so you are rather limited. THE BEDS ARE THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE THING I HAVE EVER SLEPT ON AND EVERY NIGHT YOU WOKE UP WITH PINS AND NEEDLES SLEEPING ON THE SUNLOUNGER WAS MORE COMFORTABLE AND WE EVEN TRIED LYING ON THESE INSTEAD!!!! This is not what you would expect from a 4* hotel. Make sure the people in the room all want to go to bed at the same time too as there was only one key so if someone was out of the room one would have to sit in darkness or wait for someone else to come back! The only positive is the staff were helpful but don't ask for a cocktail as most have no idea how to make one and it took a week for us to explain you are meant to mix them before we even had one which was mixed up. This hotel is not worth the money and is a total let down. This hotel is not worth its star rating and I would advise anyone to avoid it unless you just want to be bored out of your mind for two weeks with flat, warm drinks and lukewarm food with no variety!
What a shame, disappointed
My partner & I planned this trip back in Feb & found the deal through Scoopon which we have used for past holiday Package deals, accommodation & other deals & been very happy with. Please research properties thoroughly when making a decision. While the staff were extremely pleasant & helpful I was indeed disappointed with our stay. I must admit, it didn't help that we both became ill on day 3 with a nasty virus but I will provide some feedback for you to take onboard if you wish. 1) we were stranded at the airport on our arrival at 8:45pm, after searching for our name for approx 30 mins my partner approached the information booth & they kindly rang the resort, we had been forgotten! even though I had confirmed via email on 2 occasions someone would pick us up. From there we were told to catch a taxi & the resort would pay. Note, there was another couple in the same situation as us, we shared the cab. 2) due to the non pick-up we were upgraded to a deluxe room, well I wonder what the other room was like because this was the most uncomfortable stay we have ever had on a trip away. 3) may has well have been sleeping on the floor, the bed was so hard. 4) the shower was an absolute joke, talk about awkward to get into, I feel for elderly or short folk in this instance. The shower head which was a removable hose had a mind of it's own & frustrated the hell out of me, flooding the bathroom all the time, desperately needs an upgrade to the walk in shower with proper drainage. 5) the furniture on the balcony & around the resort was mainly uncomfortable timber settings with no cushions. 6) more caution strips need to be placed in and around the resort for step downs, my partner got caught many times. 7) housekeeping needs to be stepped up a notch, seriously.. no clean bedding until day 4! & need to be more thorough checking on supplies eg sugar etc.. These may sound like minor issues but to ensure a more pleasant stay they need to be addressed. On the positive the resort grounds were beautiful & staff helpful, food was good too & beautifully presented. Yes, I know this was a Scoopon deal & you get what you pay for but when you go on holiday comfort is the key in my book & unfortunately APSARA didn't meet our expectation. BTW, we checked out early & headed into Phuket for a night before flying home.
AVOID
IAVOIDING am currently staying the the hotel that I can't more from unless I pay £800 to move to phi phi island. I am listening th the lovely relaxing sound of drilling as the only place you can get free wifi is by the reception. There is only 1 bar open and you can't eat at the Zeus restaurant on all inclusive unless you pay. The swim up bar is closed and is used as storage. The only pool that is useful is very small. The draught beer is transported from the main bar (if you called it that) in a jug. The facilities are non existent and the service is poor, the bar man left the bar unattended then came back apologized and said he was having sex. The staff are smiley but that's the only positive. The manager is un helpful and won't give our money back if we leave. There is too many things wrong with this place to list but there is no music no atmosphere, no relaxation, not enough staff, the town isn't open and the food menu is very limited. Breakfast is cold and last night I tried to sleep on the sun lounger as the bed was so hard. I think a hard bed but this stops the circulation to my hands and I wake up with pins and needles
Amazing - want to go back!
Just returned from a week's stay at the Apsara - we upgraded to a pool villa when we got there and wow, what a fabulous week. The pool villas are huge, they have a lovely lounge with DVD player, big bedroom, outdoor shower, two sinks, two large wardrobes and the outside area is stunning with it's own pool, loungers and sitting area with a small dining table. We were in villa 827 and it got the sun all day, we spent mornings on the beach outside Memories beach bar and then went back to the villa after lunch. The breakfast was good, a wide choice of pastries, cereals and cooked items, it was lovely and quiet overlooking the pool area for the villas. We ate twice in the beach restaurant, we had pizza which was excellent and seafood a second night which unfortunately was overcooked and not so good. The prices were good considering it's a good 4* hotel, cocktails averaged about £5, a beer £2.50 and a glass of wine £4 - pizzas were about £5, most Thai dishes were about the same price with seafood and Western food from about £8 upwards. The hotel sits on an amazing stretch of empty beach - miles and miles of it, the sun beds did look quite crowded so we chose to sit on the beach at Memories beach bar next door which was much less busy and then our private pool in the afternoon. Memories beach bar has a good menu for lunch or dinner as well as a great bar serving good value cocktails - it's right next door to the hotel on the beach. The staff are lovely at the hotel, We were welcomed by Sam who was really helpful, everyone on reception were really helpful and couldn't do enough for you. The hotel is quite a way out of the town - there is a shuttle bus that runs from the hotel 3 times a day and the last one goes in at 5pm, cost is £2 one way or a taxi will cost £6 each way, we went in a couple of times, there's a good choice of restaurants, some shops selling souveniers and clothes but not a lot else. We got a return taxi from Phuket Airport to the hotel through Boss taxis which was excellent and very reasonably priced, it took about an hour and a quarter. Will definitely return, it was pure relaxation.
DO NOT STAY HERE NOT THE PREMIER RESORT YOUR BEING SOLD
Straight to point. Arrived at hotel shabby dirty and cheap plastic sun-loungers Nothing like brochure & not a premier hotel. Paid £670 for villa upgrade, first villa very dirty requested another seemed like whole cleaning team was there cleaning second villa. Villa side clean and pleasant quiet and relaxing. Food terrible in both sides of resorts, food derived illness I contracted lasted for first 5 days of holiday! Food undercooked or cooked fully & cold. All inclusive a joke! 3 types of standards Red band :terrible you can eat in buffet and 1 time at Zeus or villa restaurant but very limited menu! Blue band: you can eat anywhere except Zeus but again limited menu. Better off going b & b and eat outside we're food is cooked and hot and traditional Thai. Staff great management terrible. Hotel 2 star maximum Villa side 3 star maximum.
disappointing
We went expecting a 4* hotel, but were badly disappointed, Quite how the resort can be so rundown when it can't be more that 2 years old is beyond us. Room was filthy, fittings all badly put up (and in some cases only just still on the wall) and obviously extremely cheap. Food was tasteless but plentiful. Hotel seems to like to charge for everything, there was even an itemised pricelist for everything in the room, including the cutlery. Every other hotel we stayed at on our holiday I've rated as excellent on Tripadviser, but you couldn't drag me back here.
Voyage en Thaïlande du 06 09 2017 au 21 09 2017. Hotel Apsara Beachfront Resort
Bonjour.
Volltreffer!Zu Empfehlen für alle Pärchen Familien Senioren = ALLE! :)
Highly Recommended!People nice!Good Service / Breakfast Area. Clean and Calm
Top Thai Experience
Have just returned from 2 weeks A / I with Thomson on the wonderful Dreamliner. Having said that we were delayed 24 hours on the way out due to Operational Reasons, no permit obtained to fly over India apparently! However when we did get to the Apsara we were greeted with a warm welcome, all the staff were so friendly! First impressions of the room were a little bit disappointing but don't let that put you off. As previously mentioned some areas could do with a lick of paint and the shower needs re grouting. However the room was big with a massive comfortable double bed and always lots of hot water. New flat screen TV's were being installed, so things are on the up! The food in the Buffet Restaurant was excellent and varied with tasty Thai food always available. The Live Station was always good for fresh noodle and rice dishes. Curries were plentiful, as were shrimps, prawns and delicious Asian mushrooms. The Red and White wine was very acceptable and the service wonderful. Ram and Jaja were outstanding! The Gin & Tonics at the bar were excellent and certainly strong enough! You can carry drinks from the A / I bar to the patio next to the Zeus Bar, so it is not a problem. The pool areas are lovely with lots of sunbeds and brand new sunshades. The views to the sea beautiful and the beach itself perfect. The Aspara ticks all the boxes, a top Thai experience! P. S. Never book a Thomson Day Trip unless there is nothing else available. They were much cheaper and better through the hotel or from Memories Bar over the river!
Great holiday at Apsara
Just got back from 2 weeks at the Apsara, We travelled with friends, and chose the hotel because we were looking for an all-inclusive hotel in a quiet area, on the beach, with good trip advisor reviews. The Apsara seemed to tick all the boxes and we were not disappointed, in fact, we were delighted. After booking I emailed the hotel asking if it would be possible to be allocated rooms with a sea or pool view, and was advised that although the hotel was fully booked, he would try to give us the nicest rooms possible. We got lovely rooms with a sea view - certainly worth an email if you are going. The staff were all excellent and I would like to give special mention to April in the bar, Ruth in the restaurant at breakfast and lunch, and especially Marvs in the restaurant at dinner- she reserved the same table for us every evening and gave us fantastic service. Food was always good with plenty of choice. Thompsons and First choice all inclusive clients are allowed to use the facilities and the bar in the pool villa section despite what it states on the hotel literature, The hotel was fully booked but sunbeds were always available and the restaurant was never crowded, busy at breakfast, but never crowded. The beach was lovely, the sea very warm, as were the pools. We went on the elephant bathing half-day trip, which was great. We've done the elephant 'thing' previously in Bali and Koh Samui, and this was the best by far. We went with Eco tours and I must give a special mention to our guide Ake (pronounced Eggy) who made the whole experiece a pleasure, I can recommend Memories bar, which is on the beach right next to the hotel, a nice relaxed place to go for a change of scenery. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone, it really is very, very good I could go on ;
Paradisiaque
Best holiday by far!
Thailand is just truley amazing. I've been back a week and mourned Thailand every day. Lol. Hotel was amazing. It's set in the middle of no where but on the beach front. You need a bus or taxi to take you to town but you can get this fairly cheap. Hotel staff were amazing and could not be more helpful. Special thanks to Sam and AJ. They both do brilliant jobs at the hotel but everyone in general is friendly, happy and willing to help in any way they can. The rooms are brilliant... good sized and cleaned daily. Mostly good air con facilities. There is also a gym not too far away and a spa for relaxing treatments on site. Every night at the restaurant is different with food and good variety something for everyone. Thai night, Italian, Mexican, European etc. They also offer room service at an extra cost. If your a Thomson guest you should also be entitled one Al E Cart meal during your stay. I didn't go for this but others I met at Apsaras highly recommended it. There is also the Zeus beach bar which is a payable restaurant set looking out right on the beach. The location as I say is set relaxing. There is no kids club and although there were kids there they only had the beach or the pool to play in. It's more of a peaceful tranquil getaway resort. Make sure you take good mosquito repellant. I was recommended to buy the local OFF spray. However I still got bitten numerous times and have since found another brand that is better called Soffel floral mosquito repellant. It feels and smells better. If you do get bitten do not itch and keep the wounds clean. Despite me doing this im now on steroids for infected Mossi bites. But don't let this put you off. This hotel, it's location and destination as a whole is truley amazing. I recommend you go scuba diving with Pirate Divers international in Bang Niang you can look them up or ask your Thomson Rep to ring Brenda. Also recommend the Khao Sok trip and Elephant Trekking and a must if your not sea sick overnight to Phi Phi, James Bond, and Krabi by speedboat. Again you can book this through your Thomson rep. Well worth the money. I had the time of my life there and will be going back again and again!
Hele pakken
Friendly staff, great location and amazing villas
We are currently staying at the Apsara resort and I don't even know where to start the two days we have been here already has been fabulous! We originally booked a swim out room but we're told upon arrival that we were being upgraded to a pool villa the next day.. What an amazing surprise seeing as I had booked this Thailand holiday for my partners 30th birthday! The villa: Amazing - so spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. Outdoor shower is so luxurious. It is fully equipped with everything you will need plus two huge TVs - one in the bedroom and one in the living room. Large king bed nice and firm - great nights sleep! Free wifi - pretty fast. Location : Is great - koh lak is definitely a much more relaxing alternative to the typical Patong phuket trip. Apsara is right on the beach - stunning view from the main pool! The locals are so helpful - very friendly and no pressure to buy anything. We rented scooters off a nice guy (up the end of the road that resort is on next to the tsunami tower opposite the Siam restaurant) 250 baht for a day rental. Staff: So friendly and helpful and have made our stay very memorable - great English too! A lovely man at reception gave us a map and explained where the local supermarket was. Every single staff member has a smile on their face and make it a great atmosphere. Even the guys at the security gate always having a joke and smiling and waving when we drive out. Having travelled quiet a lot of Thailand I would definitely put this place at the top of the list. The staff alone would make me stay here again they are all just so accommodating and friendly. Thank you to Golf and the rest of the team we couldn't be happier we don't want to leave- we will definitely be back on our next trip.
GOOD HOTEL BUT ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT
We have just returned from a 12 night stay at the Apsara, we have been to Thailand a few times in different areas and this was not bad. We travelled with Travelbag and the bonus with this is your transfer is private so it took apx 1hr 20-30 mins. Upon arrival staff welcoming a nice cold drink and flannel and swift check in, we where allowed in our room which was early apx 12 p. m which was nice not to be hanging around. The room itself is a lovely size we where given I think one of the better deluxe rooms which was no:124 and our view was beautiful over looking the beach and sea. We did think the rooms need a little up-dating although they are cleaned each day, but when you pull the blind down by the bath it looks quite marked and dirty as do some of the lamp shades etc. think they could just give the rooms a little re-vamp. We where reasonably lucky only once or twice hearing noise in our room during later evenings. The food as mentioned by others can get a bit repetitive but I do not eat a lot of meat or fish but managed to eat 3x per day on the all-inclusive package but I feel they could extend the food range a bit more and on the b. b. q night cook proper Thai satay sticks and more authentic food but on the whole food was reasonable to good, the staff in the restaurant where lovely and polite and Cherd and Dina and all the other staff (sorry do not know all the other names) do a fantastic job. One odd part regarding the all-inclusive part is the bars, you have a red band which is the average all-inclusive which is your food but you are only able to get your all-inclusive drinks from the illa lounge bar and walk 20 yards across the path with your drinks and sit down in the Zeus bar yet you where unable to get a all-inclusive Drink there, they have not long opened a all-inclusive bar off of the main restaurant but it get a bit complicated and silly in my mind. We had a walk around the villas which is obviously the newer edition to this hotel but they get no views of the beach, they also have a bar and separate dining area. I think if you are on all-inclusive red band you can eat once at the villa restaurant and once at Zeus bar and grill we did not bother. You can also get the blue band which then entitles you to drink at the villa bar and Zeus as well. As I said it seems a bit complicated and I personally think this could be simplified. there are a few dogs around the beach area but one in particular that comes up to the hotel is lovely and friendly she is so soft and just wants a bit of tlc from people. The beach itself is lovely The sea is lovely and warm you cannot really swim in it but great fun in the waves, the pool is good too also the walks along the beach are pleasant. We hired a moped up the road for 250baht a day, I think they are normally 300 as the hotel do not let you reserve there's and you can only check in the morning if a moped is free which is no good if you are planning a trip out, and they are dearer at the hotel anyway. We did not do any organised trips as been to Thailand a few times but when we had the moped out went to a couple of waterfalls the tsunami memorial and a few other places, and took ourselves to the day / night market as going with the hotel cost 100baht each going and a taxi back costs apx 300 baht there are some nice things to buy at the market and personally I bought a few bikinis as for once they are doing more European sizes, and there are general stalls and some things to eat. There is a duo of singers that play either at the villas or in Zeus bar of an evening Thailand does not really do entertainment in hotels and this duo are quite difficult to listen to, most people we spoke with did not want to listen to them as bless them they try but sadly not very good. To summarise this is a nice hotel with great staff I just feel they could get it a little more organised regarding getting drinks and eating either make it all-inclusive only with may be B & B forget the different restaurants for all the different grades of all-inclusive. I feel this hotel is almost of 4*, and we did have a pleasant stay
Simply the Best
Second trip to the Apsara, after last years stay we had to go again. 22 nights this time and its better than last time. The rooms are excellent, clean tidy, well maintained and modern. The staff are friendly and more than willing to make you feel like someone special. The hotel is on the beach which they keep clean and tidy with the sea is clean. The hotel grounds are immaculate (as seems normal in Thailand), there are many sunbeds, umbrellas for shade, lovely pools to keep you cool and numerous bars. The breakfasts are good and the alacarte evening menu is great (recommend the tenderloin steak). Its that good we have already booked for March 2016. Mr. and Mrs. J Doyle England
Juste magnifique
Souriant. Ils sont très serviables. Sérieux. Ils respectent votre tranquillité. On peut leur faire confiance. Et c'est ce qui compte le plus :-)
Lot's of pro's and cons.
I have very mixed feelings about this hotel having stayed in a range of hotels around the world previously (ranging from 2* to 5*) This is definitely not a 5* hotel - It's probably more of a 3.5*-4*. My family and I stayed as part of an all inclusive package, however, there were guests who were not all inclusive and they seemed to be much better catered for. I want to be as balanced as possible with this review as it's definitely not a bad place to go at all, however there are both positives and negatives. I'll start with the negatives: -The choice of food is pretty limited - Only one flavour of ice cream is available for all inclusive guests (at lunch only - usually coconut or strawberry). You can buy icecreams like magnums and cornettos, but again, the choice is limited. - There are no free / all inclusive activities and no " animation " team or " activities " team. - There is no air conditioning in any of the restaurants or bars. - The sun loungers and umbrellas are fairly cheap and tacky and not in keeping with the rest of the hotel and scenery. - There is no reef for snorkelling (something advertised by Thompsons and one of the main reasons we went there!) - The all inclusive guests are kept separate from the other guests - only being allowed to use one restaurant and one bar. Another point I'd like to make, though it is not a negative for me (but may be for others) is that there are lots of dogs roaming around the resort. They're very friendly, but can be a bit mischevious and not everyone was happy with them. There are also plenty of geckos, lizards, crabs and frogs :) Positives: - The staff are super friendly!! - The hotel and rooms are comfortable and clean - The food, though limited in choice, is of good quality and very nice. - The scenery is absolutely beautiful and the sunsets are to die for. - If you like weddings, you'll get to see a lot whilst there. - The hotel is right on the beach - There are plenty of sun loungers and you'll have no problem getting some regardless of the time of day. - There is a good selection of drinks available in the all inclusive package. - Easy to get to Khao Lak centre and the markets (which are brilliant - definitely worth a visit) by taxi, which costs about £7 each way. - There is free wifi in the hotel, rooms and by the pool / beach - We had an issue in that the toilet flush was broken at 10pm, we phoned down to reception and within 10 minutes, someone was there to fix it, with the right part available. Very efficient. I think that's pretty much it! I'd definitely go back to Thailand again, but I'd probably look at a different hotel next time - just because I've been fairly spoilt for choice with hotels and like really nice hotels. The Apsara is perfectly acceptable and nice - just not AMAZING.
Fantastisk sted
Garden Villa All Inclusive
We stayed all inclusive in a Garden Villa, the Villas are beautiful. It's so nice to have the space to relax in and I loved the outdoor bath! Regularly have woodpeckers, lizards and butterflies in the garden! If you stay in a villa you get a different pool to the rest of the hotel and a different bar. Which is nice and quieter. The all inclusive food is nice but personally it wasn't my cup of tea, as a vegetarian I hoped for a few more options in Thailand! The theme nights are set up really well but the exciting things are always meat related! There is however a great bar just down the beach from the hotel called memories and the food is amazing! Or the hotel has a bar called Zeus on the beach which only charges 150 baht for pad Thai etc. The cocktails are fab and there's a great range for all inclusive guests! Thomson offer a range of trips to go on, Id recommend booking a few as there isn't much to do at the hotel. Which sounds amazing but after 2 Weeks i was keen to do things! The elephant trekking is amazing! The local shuttle buses are fab - Id recommend going to Bang Niang and trying the local bars etc, if you want a fab night out! Taxis are 300baht each way. Which is excellent value! The staff at the hotel are so helpful and always very polite and smiley! They really help make the holiday amazing! We had a brilliant time and want to come back already. I think I'd go somewhere cheaper though and do more local things just because the local area of thailand is so beautiful to experience! Oh and the rep Alan is fab! X
Swim up room
If you are going here make sure you have a swim up room as this makes the holiday. You just step out of your room onto a verandah with two sunbeds and umbrellas straight into lazy river pool, it is always warm. It would be better if it was adults only as children tend to jump in from the bridge which is not allowed but no one stops them. It is very quiet in the evening as there is no entertainment. The buffet restaurant has a theme night each evening and the food is very good and well displayed. The chef Tuhono is amazing and very helpful. We do not eat spicy food and every evening he would cook us a special meal that we could eat. Thanks Tuhono. you are the best. The a la carte restaurant is not worth visiting, you have to buy drinks or go to all inclusive bar and bring one with you, even water, They got my order wrong 3 times and food was not very good. There is a lovely white sand beach and the sea is always warm. The town is worth a visit and the market, make sure you haggle. Best not to do elephant trekking as the elephants are treated badly. We did a good trip on a boat and to caves. There is only one bar and no beach bar. There is an infinity pool with a chute. Good place for very quiet holiday but not if you like activities and / or entertainment
Tolles Hotel an wunderschönem Strand
Very quiet and relaxing getaway
We arrived with 2 other couples following a 3 night stay in Bangkok. The Thomson rep was nowhere to been seen but the hotel staff were very accommodating and welcoming. Check in and a quick briefing about the hotel was more than adequate. Our room was clean and had everything you could ever need, from toiletries to a hairdryer to umbrellas to a torch. We were well catered for and these little additions were very useful. The food was very good. The buffet ran a weekly rota with a theme every day over 7 days. We didn't feel the need to book into the a la carte restaurants because the buffet food was excellent. We did eat in the beach restaurant one night because we were too late for the buffet. The food and waiter service were brilliant in all restaurants. There were 2 all inclusive bars. The bar on the beach was a paying bar. I don't understand why we couldn't get drinks from here because most people went to sit there after going to the all inclusive bar anyway. The bars close at 11pm but you can pay for drinks until 12pm. The entertainment is virtually none existent, there isn't any in the evening. They didn't even play music in the bars. The hotel is very quiet on this front. On the brightside, you get a great nights sleep and you feel well rested. They have Thai dancing on the Thailand themed day. The special themed night for the Loy Krathong Festival was great but we had to pay extra for the entertainment. This proves they are capable of putting on a show. We booked our 3 trips from the excursion desk at the hotel. We still hadn't seen the Thomson rep at this point so we made our own plans and enquires. I'd fully recommend booking trips through the hotel; they were well run, value for money and we seemed to have a better experience than those who booked through Thomson. We did Similan Islands, James Bond island and an elephant experience. I'd recommend them all to get the best out of Thailand. We did bump into the Thomson rep later on in our holiday. Apparently we missed the welcome meeting because we spent 3 days in Bangkok at the start of our holiday?! The beach is beautiful. I loved that there were no sun loungers on the sand, it gave you an unspoilt view. Next door to the hotel there is a beach bar and restaurant called Memories. If you're looking for a bit of an atmosphere then visit here. The food and cocktails are fab. We had a few massages at the spa in the hotel. They were reasonably priced and very good, well worth the money. I had a massage and manicure so they plaited my hair for free. We went into Khao Lak a few times by taxi, which you can book from the front desk. We went into the town to visit the market which was brilliant, and the bars which were excellent. The town also held a festival to welcome in the tourist season. The hotel and the staff are brilliant. Little things let it down in my opinion. It is very quiet, there needs to be a bit of music or entertainment in the evening. Also all the bars should be all inclusive up until they close and include a waiter service. These little additions would make it a 5 / 5 rated hotel for me.
Best birthday present ever!
Booked this holiday to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday and have to say it was fantastic. We have never been to Thailand before so was a little unsure what to expect. After a long long time travelling we finally arrived at hotel at midnight where we were greeted with a cool flannel and a lovely drink. Check in was quick and then we were shown to our room. I had booked a pool access room which was a god send in the heat, yes it was very very hot. The one thing that makes this hotel one of the best we have ever stayed in is the staff. From early morning til late at night they are all so nice. Nothing is too much trouble. On reception we really liked AJ and Donna had more than a few good laughs with them. The food was also really good, plenty to choose from at ever meal. The beach was beautiful, cleaned ever day and went on forever. There was plenty on sunbeds even though hotel was fully booked. Went into town a couple of times both using hotel shuttle and taxi, worth doing to go to market, quiet an eye opener. We did a few trips James Bond Island, Phuket at night and the National park all were good and well worth doing. On my husbands birthday a cake was brought to our room for him a nice touch. We came here to chill out and relax that's exactly what we did. One of the staff that we really really have to give praise to is April who works in the bar. She works so hard and ALWAYS has a smile on her face, a real credit to the hotel. We would recommend this hotel and can't wait to go back. Thankyou for making our first visit to Thailand so special.
Lovely peaceful location
Visited the Apsara in November for a two week holiday all inclusive. Firstly thank you to Mr Golf and Sam who made our stay even better than we had hoped for, the whole resort was absolutely spotless 24 / 7 the beach was also very clean and tidy, and great for long walks after breakfast (take water with you). As we was all inclusive and ate in the main restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner, again we could not fault the variety and quality of the food (thanks to Ram for looking after us), each night the menu changes and even into the second week we were still experiencing new dishes. Thank you to April in the bar, again she took wonderful care of us, and I must thank Min as well. The hotel is located away from the town, so a trip in a taxi costs about £6 each way, the hotel dose run a shuttle bus three times a day, but be sure to book it. If you are going to book any trips, enquire at the front of the hotel first as they worked out half the price Thomson were charging for the very same trip, or if you go into town there are plenty of places to book from as well.
Fabulous Holiday
What a stunningly fantastic resort, spotlessly clean the staff all work tirelessly to keep it that way and always with a smile and a greeting. We stayed in a garden villa, just beautiful, immaculate and quiet. We were all inclusive and couldn't fault the food, good choice lots of variety from breakfast right through till dinner. Again the staff in both the restaurants were so good Beck and Jaja always having the drinks we normally ordered on the table before we had chance to order, very polite and friendly as were they all. It is quite the most beautiful resort we have ever stayed at. the view from the Napalai restaurant is just so lovely, what a way to start the day lingering over breakfast. Tuketa and Goy two of the staff there always ready with the coffee. A special thanks to A J and Golf in reception nothing was too much trouble. A real wow. Thanks to all. Bill & Jane in 907
