About The Old Nest
The Old Nest is a two-storey house with over 200 years of history. It was built entirely of natural materials - stone and wood. This inspired me to " breathe new life " into the house and after almost a 2 years of hard work, I managed to " revive " it. The characteristic style and architecture are preserved - the wooden ceiling beams and floorboards and the small recess in the rooms are authentic, crafted with special attention to every detail. The second floor of the house has 7 rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, and a big covered balcony - a cozy place for games or rest. The first floor features an old barn converted into a Rhodope style tavern. There is also a fully furnished summer kitchen. For connoisseurs, we have a stone oven that can fit more than 20 chickens or three lambs. It is also great for baking homemade bread. You can enjoy the birdsongs, the summer barbecue or some outdoor games under the fig trees. Free car park and internet. Your pets are also welcome to the house. Every spring, the storks return to the old stork nest by the house, and you will always want to return to The Old Nest once you visit it! About the rooms The second floor of The Old Nest Guest House has 7 rooms - single, double or triple, with en-suite bathrooms. The comfortable beds are made of renovated metal or handmade wooden frames. Every last detail in the rooms - from the lamps to the cabinets - is carefully made of natural materials. The bathrooms are unique - old metal and wooden kitchen utensils are " living a second life " as sinks; the rope or wooden hangers, the shelves and the mirror frames are specially designed to complete the authentic interior.

A beautifully restored hotel close to the Rhodope Mountains
If you require a five star hotel, this is not the place for you. However if you are looking for rustic and casual accommodations, this is for you. This is a renovated 200 year hotel that has the feel of a summer camp for adults as well as families. The rooms are comfortable, the staff is friendly and helpful and the food is home cooked and excellent (especially the Bulgarian moussaka.)
Nature, birds
Quiet, peaceful, clean. Beautiful surrounding nature with clear water river. Magnificient forests and cliffs with vultures. Good opporunity for wildlife photography arranged by the host. Kind hosts. Beautiful, renovated 250 yrs old house. Simple but delicious food.
Great place
Love this place, very peaceful with a tasty food and clean air. We find it very easy. The region is very interesting, worth to visit. Definitely I will visit it again, I recommend it to all of my friends.
Teambuilding event in December 2022
We had a teambuilding event in Dec 2022 for 12 people. We stayed at the location and also the hosts provided all of the meals. They took us on bird-watching trips, told us about the history of the village and the guest-house and about biodiversity in the region. Would highly recommend!
Top spot for a nice holiday!
Amazing place with very warm and friendly hosts, the atmosphere is unique, everything is made to be cozy and comfy and make you feel just right! Homemade treats are amazing! I also understood they organize workshops etc which seem to be interesting. There is also a place / room very suitable for some mobile work in my opinion. I RECOMMEND!
Lovely place in the middle of Eastern Rhodopes
Authentic and preserved house having the spirit of the past meanwhile offering all modern amenities and facilities. Delicious homemade dishes, friendly atmosphere and many activities to do in this area. If you seek something different or something extraordinary- this is the place :)
Magical Rodopa
The place was great, but we recommend more friendly behavior by the owner! We felt a little bit like incomers. The food was ok and the old house was very nice! The Rodopa mountain though always is magical!
Where I feel at home and will go back
I am the type of traveler that loves to visit new places and not go back to same place; Well, the Old nest made me go back second time, and there will be more. The whole model of the service they provide is rare to find in Bulgaria. It is not about just accommodation and food, but the feelings and discoveries that happen there. The house - old charm with modern amenities; perfect for digital nomads, with very good working places; The food - simple home made and fresh and local and tasty! Don't expect a menu to order from, but real home made traditional Bulgarian food, home made breads; homemade yogurt from local cow milk. The guests - the most welcoming place for foreigners - the owners speak English, but also many of the guests. This place is just attracting their own crowd and the dinner conversations are always fun. The location - the river, the birds, the nature - so much to see in this magical corner of Bulgaria. You need to go and follow the suggestions by locals or just drive around to see for yourself... Even if you find it a bit more expensive that other guest houses, you should know that it is worth, as no one else is able to give you this whole package of happiness

This is an excellent starting point to explore all of the surrounding delights. Be it a base to see the wonderful wildlife opportunities or to soak up the rural atmosphere from yesteryear, here we are. The Old Nest, modern, clean rooms and amenities in the middle of a dramatic ancient volcanic setting. All of the staff will do everything they can to make your stay happy and memorable. Great people.
