Great place, waterton is special
This was a very cute hotel. I was very surprised at the size of the room and the modernness of it. Definitely was a very good value for the money. We just come from Lake Louise, where everything is much smaller and more expensive. We did a 10 day trip from glacier national Park into the parks and into Canada and my wife had wanted to go to Waterton. I actually had not wanted to go but found this to be one of my favorite places. We ended up seeing 10 bears and just 1 Hour Driving one of the roads very early in the morning. Nick, at the hotel was great, helped when we had an issue with our fireplace. They have a small restaurant at the hotel of which they delivered the food to the room. I would definitely stay here again.
Lovely place to stay
A very nice place to stay at while in Waterton. A subway is close by for food if you come in the off-season (which is when we visited). The place was clean, the beds were comfy (we had a queen and a murphy bed) and the fireplace was appreciated for the warmth. We would visit here again.
Great Room!
Loved the layout of our suite. Open the door to a family room, go to another room and it's a bathroom with 2 sinks, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Then you enter the bedroom. All rooms have doors that you can close so it's awesome if one gets up earlier! They provided bear spray!!!! Would stay here again!!
Perfect Stay
We stayed on the 1st floor in a single unit. Bed was a very comfortable firm. 2 sinks, with one just outside the shower and toilet area. 2 tv's with doors between bedroom, closet and coffee and sitting area. Inn is perfectly located in town and walkable to the lake, restaurants and shops. Pat, at the desk, was very informative and helpful with recommendations. Would definitely stay here again when in Waterton.
Nicely Renovated Room
Nicely renovated and well equipped. AC worked fine on a rather warm day. Refrigerator is decent size - more than a mini-fridge. Balcony offered beautiful views of the mountain. Short walk to everything. Ample parking. One note regarding room 202. There is a bright light outside and no curtain to cover the upper window, so it doesn't get totally dark overnight.
Wonderful stay in Waterton!
We stayed in a deluxe suite and were sad that we did not have a longer stay in Waterton! The bed was very comfy but the sofa bed was just ok. Loved the suite layout and the double sinks in and out of the bathroom. We woke up to a few elk wandering around the property and it was so neat to see! Loved how practically everything was within walking distance of the Inn. Would definitely stay here again.
Honeymoon Trip
My husband & I were on our honeymoon and had a romantic suite. Our hotel experience was fantastic! Beautifully renovated, well appointed room, great shower in the bathroom, a very comfortable soaker tub and comfortable king size bed with lots of pillows. Fantastic mountain view from the balcony! The staff were all very friendly and professional and very quick to rectify a small issue with the fireplace (the pilot light had gone out. It was very quickly re-lit). Waterton is not a very queer friendly town, however, there was no evidence of any homophobia from the front desk, housekeeping or restaurant staff. We felt safe with the staff. We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant very much. Great food, excellent service, comfortable surroundings, all at very reasonable prices. Should we return to Waterton, we'll be more than happy to stay here again.
The best of Waterton in winter
Clean, quiet and spacious suite. Very good Italian dinner from a menu with interesting starters and mains. Warm and friendly hospitality and service. Outstanding value for a winter getaway in a Rocky Mountain gem.
Waterton Glacier Suite
Lovely suite for a very reasonable price. Heated by fireplaces - 1 in the sitting area and 1 in the bedroom. Comfortable king bed and large shower in bathroom. Very clean and there is a restaurant attached called Red Rock Trattoria. Waterton is mostly closed up in the winter but the winter hikes were lovely.
Great spot and suite
Comfortable with tasteful decor and very clean suite with super comfy king bed. Would be 5 / 5 had the gas fireplaces been working. Still highly recommend for the price. Easy walking distance to downtown and a fabulous Italian restaurant on the property. Would stay again without question.
Fresh clean and crisp
Lovely fresh and clean. Extremely comfy bed, although the air con unit was so noisy, however there was a heatwave and so it was tolerated. But that aside, everything was as it said. The restaurant was closed though. No hardship. Our safe in the room didn't work but that was sorted quickly. Great location and plenty of parking. Friendly staff.
Okay stay
I stayed in a loft suite and it was just okay. It's definitely a large suite so that's a pro - lots of space and there's two bathrooms plus a sink area. I liked having the mountain view from the window and seeing deer walk by in the morning. The location is also good and there was lots of parking in the lot. I didn't really interact with staff but brief interactions were friendly. A few things I wasn't such a fan of: 1. because it's a loft it was pretty warm. There's only one tiny window upstairs to open so it was hard to get any air flow. So even though it wasn't hot out at night, I found it hot to sleep. The a / c was quite loud so I didn't turn it on at night, but as someone else said I could still hear other peoples and it did keep me awake cycling in and out. Heavy sleepers may not notice. I would worry about the temp in summer though given it was already warm. A non-loft suite may be cooler. 2. Something I found really odd was the large window at the top of the main room that has no blinds. Because the bed is in the loft, this is at the same level as the window…. which means that people can see right into the bedroom from the street. I had to change in the bathroom and generally felt super uncomfortable walking around in the loft. This was worse at night because with lights on people on the street can literally see right to the bed. I felt very exposed and a questionable design choice for sure. Make sure to bring an eye mask since there are no blinds. There is also a small window in the loft also with no blinds for some reason? I hung a towel on that one. 3. The walls are not super sound proof and since there are stairs to the loft I could hear other people going up and down the stairs. Again, this may be lessened in the non-loft suites. 4. There were a few little things that needed to be fixed or were missing, which aren't deal breakers but given the price would expect better attention to detail - knob missing on the drawer, visible water damage on the wall below the sink in the bathroom, nowhere to hang towels in the upstairs bathroom (not even the hand towel?). So overall I thought it was just okay. I would maybe consider a non-loft room next time as that might work better for me.
Waterton Glacier Suites
The hotel was lovely, Room was big and very clean. Beds were extremely comfortable. Location was perfect within walking distance to stores, restaurants, parks. Helpful staff. I was traveling with three teenagers. We needed three beds which they had with an additional bathroom. It made life very easy. Television was working and everyone enjoyed the stay.
great place to stay
this was a last minute 2 hours before to detour off the highway and stay here in the park. We had two choices of hotel and even though this one did not have a pool decided to try it. Very nicely decorated we rented the romantic room for 149.00 plus tax with a fireplace (can only be used for brief periods or its too hot in the room) and a lovely soaker tub fits 2 it drains very slow but still nice. Good size fridge and microwave coffee pot, loved the 2 sinks and ample space in the bathroom with a large glass door shower. the king bed was a comfy dream after a long drive and pillows good too lots of them. large tv with good channels had a great mountain view we were facing the street on the second floor, second from the end. our view was obscured by the large overhang that covered the deck too cold to use, which turned out good after all cause gale force windows shook the window high up and doors all night and i think it would have been worse in the other rooms further down with no overhang to protect. The light from the building comes directly in the loft window all night which i did not discover till bedtime just bring an eye cover i used a towel and ear plugs for the wind if present i used paper towel in a pinch. Friendly staff ! the set up to get to the rooms is odd you have to check in the front and GPS seems confused about the location and tries to take you to the hotel right accross. Then drive around the building to the parking lot in the back and enter your room up the stairs. People with mobility issues would want a first floor room. there was practically no one in the what felt like ghost town with only the liquor store open, its only end of April, and a hot dog place. Looks like some nice shops in full season, right now only two restaurants both in the hotels open with limited hours, we had packed food so not an issue. WE had horrendous wind and snow conditions off and on it would be good one minute and howling the next, could not walk without it feeling like stinging knives in your face so we drove around after supper. This seems like a small area and 70 percent of the park was burned in 2017 so no trees practically, it would be congested i would think in summer. The prince of wales hotel looked lovely perched up on top built in 1927. Waterton has stunning mountain views for sure and the beautiful still partly frozen lake was very nice to walk around the next day before we left and the sun came out but this must be the windiest place in Alberta right now LOL
Great retreat during bad weather
A two night stay in the romantic suite was booked well in advance, so we took our chance with December weather in a mountain setting. The weather was horrible (windy, even for Waterton, plus snow that would sting the face when we did go outside) so our room was a very nice retreat. Good size, fireplace that kept the room toasty warm, comfortable bed and jacuzzi that got a lot of use. The view was nice and we were on the protected side of the building so did not have excessive wind noise. The short walk to the Red Rock Trattoria was also appreciated. Staff were very efficient and friendly, with check in and check out extremely smooth. Already planning our next stay.
The best family friend place to stay in Waterton!
We had a great stay at the Waterton Glacier suites! We originally had been placed in a romance suite (when we had booked a deluxe suite) and the hotel staff quickly swapped rooms for us. The suite had a sitting area, with a corridor type area to the bedroom also with a door, making a cozy dark room for our little one. They had a playpen on site, which the staff brought and helped us set up. The room came with a mini fridge, a coffee maker and a microwave. We went pretty late in the season with not too much left open and no real gluten free options so we packed our own breakfast and sandwiches. The king sized bed was firm but we both slept well. It's so centrally located - we walked everywhere and even to the trail head of our hikes (what a treat!) Didn't eat at the restaurant but it smelled heavenly! Will check it out next time!
Very comfortable stay
We were very pleased with our 2 day stay. Our romantic suite on the second floor was quiet, roomy and comfortable. The bed was very good and we slept well. The location is very good, within an easy walk of the lake and many shops and restaurants. On the negative side, our balcony was poorly maintained and uninviting with virtually no view. It was also disappointing that the hotel has no outdoor area at all. There is no yard or seating area outside. The bathroom had the tiniest shower I have ever seen in a hotel room. It reminded me of an old style cruise ship shower where you can hardly move. Having said all that I would come again but possibly in a different suite.
Average hotel
Hotels in the park are pricey. We paid approx $300 / night and for that got a small, very average room with a tiny bathroom. The wifi didn't work at all in our room. We told the staff twice about the issue but no one offered a solution or appeared to investigate the problem. This was frustrating for us as we needed wifi for work while we were there. The room (deluxe suite) appeared to have been renovated, although for $300+ night the Renos were not particularly impressive. The bathroom had been redone by Bath Fitter. Despite this, the location of the hotel is great. Easy walking distance to everything in the townsite.
Great place with character
the loft suite was newly renovated and the big shower felt so luxurious! would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family. it looks like they are improving the rest of the property as there was some construction during my stay.
Everything we needed
Escaping to Waterton during a pandemic was certainly the best thing I've done for myself in a long time. This hotel offered everything I needed. I travelled with my adult son so the fold out sofa bed came in very handy. He had his room and I had mine. Mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker were much appreciated as we travelled with food (with restaurants being limited to take-out). The bed was comfortable and the suite was clean. Sliding glass doors allowed the fresh mountain air in which provided a restful sleep. Centrally located so walking anywhere is easy. Too bad we weren't able to try the restaurant. Hopefully when the restrictions are lifted. Would definitely recommend.
Disappointed stay
We really enjoyed Waterton Park. However, our hotel room which was the romantic room, was less then that. An outdated room which looked its age. Actually looking rough in any aspect. It was disappointed. During our three nights stay, renovations where going on at the rooms besides us. Nice to see rooms get renovated, but for us to listen to the noises.
Very nice stay
We recently spent a night at Waterton Glacier Suites as a last minute get away. It's the only hotel in Waterton that we haven't stayed at over the years. What a lovely place! Our suite was ground floor, immaculately clean and clearly newly renovated. It was bright & fresh with laminate flooring, a huge bonus. We can't stand carpet in hotels! The suite had two large rooms, both with fireplaces in. There was also a main bathroom and then a seperate sink outside the bathroom. Also supplied were a microwave, mini fridge, coffee / tea maker. Outside walkway was a bit shabby, hence just 4 star review. We'll definitely stay here again !
Ski Trip Get Away.
Thank you Pat! We stayed a few years back and our stay was not the best experience. You offered us a complimentary stay, and came through on the offer. Thank you for turning our experience around, we had a wonderful stay and enjoyed our room. Nico at the front desk check in was friendly and helped us to upgrade our room for a nominal fee, greatly appreciated as the kids are that much bigger now and enjoyed their own beds. The rooms are clean and the staff was welcoming. We hope to return in the summer and see what Waterton has to offer all year round. Thank you once again!!
Oversold, shabby and noisy
Management couldn't care less. Dirty and run down. Noisy rooms, noisy beds. Noisy parking lot. Broken sockets and switches. Moldy bathrooms. Just don't bother. We even offered to pay for upgrade to be told we had the best room!
Great venue for AST course
I hosted the first two days of an AST2 course in Waterton and the group was all super pleased with the accommodations and food! The staff were professional, pleasant and very helpful. I look forward to bringing back many more ski touring groups to explore the Cameron lake area before it gets busy! Book now for a fantastic Friday and Saturday night stay and get% 50 off the second night. What a fantastic way to explore your own backyard and have a unique hyper local getaway.
Super cozy cottage space!
We loved staying in this cozy cottage-like getaway! The manager that checked us in was incredibly friendly and we loved how there were 2 separate rooms for privacy had we decided to bring the family. Will definitely stay again next time we are in the area!
Not bad
I must start by saying that we stayed during the pandemic, so we didn't have a chance to experience the hotel or Waterton as it would be normally. Pros We have no complaints about the service we received at the front desk. They were polite, helpful, and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The loft was more than big enough to accommodate our family of 5. The bedding was comfortable and new. Cons The mattress in the Queen loft bed was in need of replacement. It was hard and presumably old. My wife, rather dramatically, claimed that every time I turned in the night she was bounced to the ceiling. This is an older hotel. The room was relatively clean, but tired. Either one of the two remotes was missing or something was wrong with the wiring, because we could never get the TV to work properly. One needed to switch out the HDMI cables to go between cable and the blueray player. We did have a good time in Waterton. The boys are already wanting to go back, and given that there are only 2 hotels that remain open all year round, and recognizing that our Con list isn't that long, we'd probably book a loft room at the Glacier Suites again.
3 day escape
Staff was great, expensive stay compared to Banff, Canmore and Jasper. Based on what else was in Waterton, would stay again. Air conditioning in bed room was a must with the 30 degree weather, however, extremely noisy. It was clean, but the rooms need updating and the exterior and grounds need some TLC.
It's ok
Its an ok place to stay. the rooms were ok but it would not be my first selection to stay there when i go back to Waterton. the service was lacking. for example, our toilet clogged and when I mentioned it, I was given a plunger to fix it instead of them offering to fix it.
Decent Accommodation with A / C
We had a one bedroom deluxe suite on the main floor with a / c in the bedroom. Considering the 30 degree heat, the a / c was a blessing. The suite was clean and everything worked well. Staff both friendly and helpful. The hotel is fairly old but so is everything else in Waterton and nothing is cheap. It's the price you pay for staying in a national park with restrictions on what changes can be made.
Great Value Room
We stayed in a deluxe suite - tons of room & a great air conditioner in the bedroom. We really only interacted with hotel staff at check in but the service was quick and friendly. The room decor was definitely dated, but very clean, and as I mentioned, really spacious. It was too hot to use the fireplaces but it was nice to have two of them had it been cooler. Would definitely come back.
It was Ok
One of the only places to stay that offered multiple beds for our family. Not kept very well but the rooms were fairly clean. We stayed in a loft suite. The building itself needs some major tlc but it worked for us. They were kind and helpful. If we needed a place to stay there again we would likely be back because of the loft suite. Don't take it the wrong way, this town is old and historic. So it worked.
Mostly Good
First the good -quiet -clean -friendly staff -good WIFI -10 minute walk to anything in Waterton -the most comfortable pull out sofa I have ever slept on The Bad -AC only in bedroom, living room can get warm in hot weather, there is a fan -rooms are a little " tired " nothing huge but could use a refresh
Awesome Place
The room was amazing and the Food was Excellant. Will go back again :) The room was very clean and comfortable. The fireplace was truly awesome and the hottub was amazing. the food was excellant and would go back again
The best hotel ever
Me and my fiance have been here 6 times in the last 3 years and we will never stop coming back. The service is amazing and hotel is amazing. The office manager (front desk guy) can't remember his name is an amazing man and the chef is out of this world great. I would recommend coming for a date night or date weekend. We have never had a bad experience and it feels like home now for us twice a year at least. Anyone who hasn't stayed here is missing out big time.
Best in Waterton
We stayed for 2 nights at Waterton Glacier Suites in September. The rooms are huge and the staff very friendly and helpful. Really want to make comment of front desk manager as he was outstanding in his assistance to us. Highly recommend this location for cleanliness, staff helpfulness and overall value.
Great stay in Waterton!
Lovely hotel, with very nice rooms. Great bed! Spacious rooms. Excellent Wi-Fi! Italian restaurant in the hotel with great food. Easy access to trails / park, convenient, very friendly staff... perfect stay!
No complaints, more than adequate
My wife and I drove into town without advance reservations and after driving around decided on this location. We feel like we made a good choice - we have a clean room with a comfortable bed, gas logs and a separate sitting room. My wife enjoyed the jetted tub after camping in Glacier National Park for 4 days. The location is excellent for walking around town. If I was forced to complain about something it would be that the television is in the living area instead in the bedroom area - so you can't watch TV laying in bed. File that under first world problems I suppose.
Great spot
This was a wonderful place. Very helpful at the front desk and helped us figure out what hike was best for us. The room was wonderful. Very clean and comfortable in every way, and the location was tops. One block from down town. I highly recommend glacier suites if you are coming to waterton.
Dirty, Outdated, Overpriced
I would never stay here again. Upon checking in I always do a clean sweep of the room. We have a large family so I processed to check all the beds. We found the hair, food and dirty covers in our 1 bed downstairs. Hair in the big bathtub that's in the living room, hair all over the extra pillows left in a drawer. Upon opening the drawers the handle broke off. We found mould in the calking in both bathrooms which was so gross. It was dirty in there and smelled I would never stay again. I called service they came and cleaned our room. My child cut their foot on a nail that was sticking out on the stairs leading to the loft and image having a shower and you can see through the door from the living room downstairs. This hotel cost us $400 a night, we stayed 2 nights. Upon check out, the general manager was working front desk apologies and gave me a $100 off. It should have been a free night. This hotel room is also up 2 sets of stairs from the back of the building, they use old keys so we had to lug them around and its outdated. I would never stay here again. This hotel ruined our stay at Waterton.
Superbe hõtel
WOAW... j'ai adoré cette place, chambre magnifique, propre, personnel accueillant et super birn placé. Je le recommande sans problème. Tout y est parfait, proche de tout, tranquille, un moment exceptionel
A good choice
We had a Deluxe-Suite and were very happy with that. The room was very large with a small living room with gas fireplace and TV, the bedroom had a fireplace, too and the bath was with two sinks. They have a very good high speed internet connection. As Waterton is quite small, lot of restaurants and the lake are nearby. It was one of the best during our roadtrip.
Well Run
Some pros and cons to this hotel. Very well run and very good service. Have stayed twice on the second floor, once with front views and this time with back views. The front street views are much nicer than the rear view rooms which look into the parking area, alley way. A bit hard if you are older to get your bags up the stairs especially your heavier suitcases. Our room this time had a large jacucci tub plus a shower and lots of space for suitcases. A good location several blocks from the lake but with limited views. The rooms, bedding etc is very comfortable and on the room on the quiet side. Limited sitting area in the lobby because of the restaurant which was a drawback because we were friends. did have space in the room to bring in the two deck chairs so we could sit four of us around the small round table in the room to play cards. Would probably look at other hotel options next time we are in Waterton.
Great, comfortable hotel!
I stayed here during a hiking trip with my mom. We paid 260$ for a deluxe suite, which is a much better deal than you'd get for a room of a similar size and style in Banff / Jasper. We really liked how our room had a living room, bathroom, Sink / kitchenette and two fire places! The bed was really comfortable and we had a sliding glass door that opened up onto the street! We loved everything about it and would recommend this hotel!
Nice room but not the best housekeeping
The man at the front desk was suowr nice and helpful. The loft suite was perfect for our family of 5. The balcony was nice to enjoy a cup of coffee. My one complaint is that our room was never vacuumed. We we're there 4 nights and the floor was dirty. There is no laundry onsite but was available at the Bayshore.
Loft suite
We originally reserved rooms at the Prince of Wales. With a family of 4 we needed 2 rooms and the price was expensive. We found the Glacier Suites and decided to try the loft suite. It was a nice fit for a family of 4 (with 2 20 year old boys). They appreciated the WiFi and the pull out and Murphy bed. My husband enjoyed the jacuzzi after a long hike. I liked the space, refrigerator and 3 sinks and 2 bathrooms. Having the balcony was nice for extra space too. The only complaint was the miss on housekeeping. We stayed 2 nights and they forgot to clean our room and replace towels. It could have used it after unloading our day packs, doing some laundry and towels from our showers and laundry. We called down at 5:30 for towels and they indicated it would be a bit. An hour later we decided to make due and share towels. At 9:00 that evening we received a call our towels were ready. The cleanliness was average.
The Best!!
We stay here regularly, the most recent was May 2 / 3 2019. The suites are spacious, clean, and well appointed. Red Rock Bistro is a gem of a dining room; very good Italian menu and very good meals. I had the veal chop and its was as good as you will find anywhere at a reasonable price. The service is prompt, professional and friendly.
Super Staff - Beautiful Area
The property itself was ok, nothing amazing, however we enjoyed our stay in this beautiful setting. The young man at the front desk was very nice and helpful and even went the extra mile to bring us hot chocolate to our room. We only had time to stay the one night but would like to go back and check out more of this beautiful area, even though it still has scars from the forest fire from 2-3 years ago, it was magnificent. One thing to note, it was very windy which we hear is typical there.
Beyond Amazing
What a great little gem in the heart of the mountains. Not just a holiday, but an experience that everyone should partake in at least once. Even though there were still snow banks, it is a beautiful, peaceful place to be in April. Cameron Falls was flowing at this time of year into the Lake which was mostly ice covered. It was refreshing to walk along the shore. The views are spectacular. Our stay at the Waterton Glacier Suites was beyond spectacular. Nico and Pat are amazing staff. The food at the Red Rock Trattoria is outstanding. Every dish we tried was full of flavour. The food is prepared by what we would consider a world class chef. We look forward to our next visit.
Amazing!
Our room was spacious, extremely clean and the decor was warm and welcoming. Since we were travelling in March, winter rates applied, which made the room incredibly affordable. Having 2 bathrooms was a huge plus, as it gave us privacy and our own space.
Peaceful time
We had a loft suite. loft area has one queen bed, main floor has two double beds. One is a sofa bed and the other one is a wall bed. Even though it's not super spacious to accommodate 6 ppl, but comfortable enough. The hotel is located in the center of the town. During winter time, you might not want to walk around, but during summer it will be the perfect place to stay. Italian restaurant is down stairs, open until 8 or 9pm. Pricey but worth a try. Staffs were very friendly. We really enjoyed the stay.
Estupendo alojamiento
Great stay
Nico was a very accommodating receptionist who check us in after front desk was closed. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The fire place was a good touch, as was the suite set up. I highly recommend this hotel.
Lovely stay in off season
We stayed two nights at the Waterton Glacier Suites. We were impressed with the roomy suite. Both the bedroom and sitting room are heated with gas fire places. Perfect for a couple of chilly October days and nights. The bed was very comfortable and the towels and linen were of high quality. There was lots of hot water and good pressure. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would easily recommend.
Nice choice for Waterton
Nice spot well located in Waterton. We had a premium suite on the ground floor - two rooms - spacious and well equipped with fridge, coffee machine, microwave TV etc, It is the only place apparently that stays open all winter. It had two gas fireplaces - one in each room but not really needed even in September as the rooms stay very hot without them. There is a reputedly great Italian restaurant on site - unfortunately not open for breakfast. Receprion was a bit brusque when we checked in and not very helpful. Nice choice for Waterton.
One night stay
Comfortable, clean conveniently located suite with a very comfortable bed, separate sitting room with a tv it's own fireplace. Microwave, refrigerator. View close go street or walkway so no privacy on ground floor. Kept curtains closed. Two gas fireplaces but actually rooms stay almost too warm without them on. Must have excellent insulation. Had to open the door a bit and then turn on fan at night even though it was in the 30's outside. Very clean place though and looks new.
Very clean suite with very comfortable beds
Booked a suite with a bedroom and a couch. The bedroom had a double bed and the couch at the living room opened up into a double bed. Beds were very comfortable. The suite was well planned, The bedroom is separated from the living room by a big bathroom. The suite is designed to give privacy. Suite was very clean. Bathroom large, spacious and clean. Reception was friendly and efficient. Good and quiet location. Free WiFi with fast speed. Ample car parks.
Cosy Suite, Great Location
This is a great place to stay just a couple of minutes from Waterton Avenue and Waterton Lake. The suite is very spacious and very well equipped! A little tired but as is most of Waterton Town, it adds authenticity. Would recommend.
No complaints!
No complaints....comfortable bed... jetted tub.... gas fire heating.... lovely little in site restaurant... friendly staff... a nice overnight stay felt very cosy in room with the snow blowing outside.... they said the restaurant will be Italian themed in summer when more people come here. Will Come back to try it.
Clean, Spacious Romantic Suite
We reserved a deluxe one-bedroom suite but somehow ended up in a romantic suite. We had less space, but the real negative of the change was that we had to lug our suitcase and cooler up the stairs; all romantic suites appear to be on the second floor. The room was large with a king bed, fireplace, bedside tables, eating table with two chairs, Jacuzzi tub, microwave, small refrigerator, iron and board, coffee maker with coffee, upholstered chair, and robes. The room also had a balcony which we enjoyed for fresh air, but the view was only an alley / parking area. The bath had a double vanity and a large shower. The bed provided a comfortable night's sleep. Everything was clean and fresh. We had a great one-night stay. Based on our experience, we would stay again.
Amazing Stay
We came from Montana U. S. A and we decided to stay for an overnight stay in Waterton Glacier Suites. One person that stood out the whole stay his name is Wally the front desk Manager. He gave us a surprise and delight service, a bottle of champagne in the room upon arrival is much appreciated. He is knowledgeable desk person and willing to help in some assistance. He did really went for an extra mile. We had nice and clean room facing the rock mountain. Don't be surprise sometimes when you open the door you see wild life animal waiting for you right outside your door, great experience. We will definitely go back and stay again.
Great little lodge in a charming windy little town
Right in the middle of a very charming town and central to all the hikes in town. Great location winter and summer alike. We got a family suite so 2 beds + a sofa bed. In suite jacuzzi with spa and a gas fireplace. It was a lovely stay by the lake
Escape Deal via LivingSocial
We managed to get " A Romantic Room for Two " vouchers for only $79 per night through LivingSocial. What a treat! It is a lovely property which is very well taken care of. Timber definitely adds to that cozy warm feeling. So, we stayed here for a week enjoying our walks, watching deer, mountain sheep and even bears rambling around this small town of Waterton. And of course it was so nice to come back to our suite and soak in the Jacuzzi. All in all, it was a serene, tranquil and relaxing getaway. Thank you!
Quiet Mountain Experience
We booked a Glacier Suites - deluxe suite with loft, and we were not disappointed! The living room had a fireplace and a Jacuzzi, and we made use of both! There was a small, private balcony with a view of the mountains. The front desk was super accommodating and even let us check in early. Everything had been recently renovated and all was clean and comfy. A great get-a-way! Love the timber accents that make it feel like a cabin. Well done. We will definitely return.
Excellent place for the family
Three of us, including a 10 year old stayed at the Waterton Glacier Suites on the May 1st weekend. There were only a handful of places that were open for the season which made it a pretty quiet and peaceful town to visit. Our hotel room was perfect as we book a loft room which gave us an extra bathroom which is always a welcome extra. There was a big soaker tub in the main living room downstairs which our little guy took advantage of every night. There was also a pullout bed and a murphy bed in the main room which he loved! There was a great balcony that faced the mountains which provided a great view all day long. We found this place to be very quiet and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We loved our stay very much and for sure we will be repeat customers for sure!
Quiet, Romantic Weekend in the Mountains
This trip was a little last minute planned and yes - in the middle of winter! Waterton as many reviews have written is quite closed down - only one or two hotels open as well as very limited dining options. A very very quiet place in the winter as many of the information pages or any other type of research will tell you so do not be surprised when you arrive. However, if you are looking for a very quiet, cozy place with lots of activities in the surrounding areas - then this will be ideal! We booked a " romantic " suite and upon arrival everything was ready to go. We were on the second floor and although we did luck out and get some very mild temperature the stairs were salted. The room is quite spacious with vaulted ceilings. Closet and bathroom available upon entry - two sinks - one inside the bathroom and one outside. Bathroom features very clean shower as well as access to jetted tub. The jetted tub on the other side is open to the room itself so it's a very unique set up. There is a fridge, microwave and full amenities in the room; we did some snack and beverage shopping before we arrived knowing there is very limited services available in the winter so once we got everything unloaded we were set for the weekend. Check in was smooth with a nice, soft, kind welcome. They have DVD's you can sign out for the player in the room and meal service daily which they did outline upon check in. We dined daily in the mornings for breakfast - it was really nice, good food and very reminiscent of a great home cooked breakfast. We spent the days hiking / walking the area in the local trails; there are some amazing views without having to even drive. The pictures attached will show it was sunny in the morning but the wind was very intense at points. It made the lake in the afternoon when the clouds moved in a real experience - like storm watching but on a glacial lake! Again... warning.. the wind was at times intense and we thought it was actually such a unique experience; we took advantage and found a cozy place undercover on the water with a bottle of wine and brought along some plastic cups. The suite also feature comfortable and clean beds, very warm and inviting fireplaces especially after hiking in the wind! Overall indeed a very romantic suite! Would go back in a heartbeat.. even in the winter. I did not really enjoy vimy's (the other restaurant in the town that was open) but would try evening dining at the Glacier Suites just based on our breakfast experience. Staff overall - as mentioned, welcoming, friendly and always willing to help or ask questions. As they have a variety of types of rooms just make sure you review what features are available in each so you book what you want to have available in the room.
Clean and well presented rooms and good location
The suites are a decent size and are within a good-looking building. Everything was clean and the bed was comfortable. The furniture and decor are nothing to write home about but was in good condition. The 'jacuzzi' is really a small bath, just big enough for one person. We had some issues switching on the fireplace in the bedroom and couldn't get the loungeroom one too come on at all. This wasn't too much of a problem as it had been a pretty warm Fall day but the room would have been cold in the middle of winter. The reception has a decent sized DVD library with free rentals, which is a nice touch. We didn't have a reservation but the price was pretty reasonable $109 (plus tax) for one night and this got us 10% off at The Chop House restaurant down by the water (although the prices at this restaurant are higher than other places for pretty generic food). The staff were polite but not overly friendly. The guy who checked us in seemed vaguely annoyed that we'd turned up as he was in the middle of something and didn't explain that I had to pre-authorise a payment of $270 for a security deposit on my credit card before the card was actually in the machine and I queried it. I should add that the additional amount was refunded within 24 hours of us checking out, with no issues. Overall it was a pleasant stay in a comfortable suite but I can't say I'd definately pick this hotel again if I came in high season. As it was, we chose the place because it's open year round, unlike a lot of the town, including restaurants and boat cruises / shuttle which shut at the end of September.
Roomy, Clean and a bit Pricy
We stopped by Waterton for two days on the way home from Banff. The town is charming and the property is located one block from town. Our suite was clean and roomy. We found that most of the properties are about 25-30% higher in Waterton than other resort areas due to the limited places to stay. If your on a budget stay outside the park and make daytrips into Waterton. Make sure to hike Bear Hump Mts for great sunrise and lake shots. You can walk to the base of Bear Mt from the the property. We actually were the first on top and on the way back down met another couple from Reno NV, our hometown. Its a small world. After hiking if your up for a glass of wine or beer (great wine list) be sure to visit Prince of Wales Hotel. Amazing five star view of the lake. We checked out the rooms and we recommend this historic place to anyone. Just remember the prices for ALL properties are higher in Waterton and not necessarly better. So it may seem your not getting the same value as you would pay less, for more in Banff or Lk Louise. If you need anything.. or forgot anything go to Pats. This store has camping, fishing, rentals, food and more than I can list. For the best sweet potato fries go to " Weiners "... it was packed so i'll assume the hot-dogs are also great:0) Happy Trails..
A little luxury in Waterton !
This hotel was more than we expected. Clean, large comfortable king bed, fireplace in room (but it was too hot to use), large jacuzzi tub and 2 sinks. It was nice to have a little luxury for 2 nights after being in a couple cabins. It was very convenient to downtown - just walk a block or 2 and there are dozens of cute restaurants.
Miserable
The staff was very rude. They had recommended a loft suite for three couples (six adults) when we booked in Feb. for a July trip. When we arrived the suite was cramped, dated and offered no privacy. The bathroom had transparent glass shower doors looking into the living room making it possible for all in the suite to see and hear the person in the bathroom. If the room had been accurately described by staff we never would have booked it. When we told them it would be impossible for the six of us to stay in the suite the only offer was to book a second room for $300 which they said we had to do because all the the rooms in town were booked. They said the Prince of Wales Hotel was full and rooms started at $700. All of this was untrue. Turns out there were several open rooms in town and the rooms at the Prince of Wales were cheaper than those at Glacier Suites. After much discussion the manager agreed to refund the $300 (of the extra room we had just booked) and dropped the price of the suite slightly, but this took much painful discussion. It still cost us an extra hotel room in a different hotel since it was impossible for all six of us to stay in the suite. It is very disappointing to be lied to by staff and verbally insulted by them when you are supposed to be their guest. Overall our experience at this hotel was miserable.
Maintenance Problems
For the most part, this hotel is acceptable, although our unit had numerous maintenance issues. The room safe was non-functional, the bedroom lightbulb was burned out and the wheels on the screen door of the patio were rusted, making the opening and closing of the door nearly impossible. The worst problem, however, seemed to be excess heat. Although it was in the 40s outside at night and the heat was off, our unit stayed uncomfortably warm. These units have no windows - just two doors - front and back. Thus, when your room is too warm at night, you have two choices, sleep with your doors open, or with the air conditioner on. The air conditioner was very loud, thus impacting our sleep.
Very relaxing and comfortable
Very nice-quiet and relaxing. Jaccussi tubs are great as you can sit in it and watch the fireplace. If you want solitude and can spend time by yourself it's the place to go. The park itself is lovely-not alot to do except enjoy the outdoors, I have been going to the park for close to 40 years and it hasn't changed alot. Hiking trail galore, beautifull scenery and lots of relax time.
Lost Our Reservation!!!
We stayed in Waterton Glacier Suites last year in September and had a great time. We were hoping for a similar experience when we booked two nights there over Labor Day weekend. Unfortunately when we tried to check in they had no record of our reservation. We called travelocity where we booked our reservation and were told our reservation was indeed sent to the hotel. They were responsible to find us another place to stay. By this late in the afternoon, every single place in the park was booked. They offered us a meal voucher and no other compensation. When we went to redeem our meal voucher at the Bayshore restaurant the waiter took away our regular menu and came back with a limited menu for us to order from and then told us beverages would not be compensated... after he had opened the bottle of wine we ordered! We ended up sleeping in our vehicle and driving 6 hours back home in the morning! If booking with this hotel be sure to confirm your reservation and make sure they have collected your deposit before your arrival. Especially be carefully if you are booking through travelocity!
Nice
Enjoyed our room- very helpful staff- conveniently located- would definitely stay here again.
Nice, but not very good at solving problems
We booked this hotel for 3 nights about 9 months in advance for our 2 week trip to Glacier National Park. Waterton is a small nice town. The hotel is nice in general and would have been great if we did not have a problem with our room. But it is really how they handled the problem that I would warn other guests about. The suite was nice and the weather was cool outside (around 40 F). The problem was our room was 90 F. We tried turning on the AC and opening the doors (even though we were on ground floor, not very secure) but we could not get the room below 85 F. The next morning I went to the front desk and told them about the room being too hot. The woman told me there was nothing she could do for me and the room had an old thermostat and the heat was from the pilot light on the gas fireplace. That did not make any sense to me, but it was obvious she was not going to do anything. So we stayed the next night and the same thing happened. We asked the front desk again the next morning about the problem and could they move us, and they said no. At that point we felt like we had no choice but to leave since the room obviously had a maintenance issue. The front desk informed me I would still be charged for the 3rd night even though we were not staying. I said I did not think that was fair since the room had maintenance issues. But again, it was obvious they were not going to do the right thing. So I took a business card with the owners name on it. I immediately wrote a letter once we got back to Orlando explaining the situation. I nicely explained I was only looking for a credit on the night we actually did not stay there. I was not asking them to refund me anything on the nights we did stay. After about a month had passed, I just received a response from the owner saying they could not offer me a credit for the night since they had a 72 hr cancellation policy. They then went on to say that their front desk people are seasonal and college students. Unfortunately I felt like that was an excuse and was not my problem. The owner offered us a free 1 night stay sometime in the next 12 months. This was a once in a lifetime trip for us from Orlando and do not have any intention of visiting that area again anytime soon. We travel to different locations each year. The thing that bothered me the most is that the hotel would not do the right thing, and refund us for the night we did not stay. So buyer beware. If we would not have had a problem with the room, our stay would have been nice. But isn't customer service and how a hotel handles a problem what separates the best from the rest?
Please fire your sullen desk clerk!
What a lovely little hotel, nestled in Waterton National Park. It's a superb location, in an amazing town. Water, wind and mountains combine to make Wateron magical. And there are deer wandering through the streets! We had a loft suite and it was quite excellent - 2 bathrooms, a jetted hot tub (in the living room - weird!), a large living room with a refrigerator and a decent-sized bedroom upstairs with a second bathroom. Also a small balcony out front on the lower level which was nice, although it did overlook the local Mormon church. Only 2 negative points - 1. the bed was very soft and spongy 2. the desk clerk was dreadful - very rude on the telephone when we were booking (told us they were booked out for Labour Day when we actually had a reservation already), then bored and disinterested when we arrived, then sour and mean-looking when we went past reception. To the owner of the hotel - this young woman is your representative to all of your guests, and she is the only staff member we met in person during our stay. Her bad attitude detracted from our enjoyment of our stay with you, so if you wish to encourage your guests to return again and again, you should consider getting this young woman to change her attitude or else find alternative employment!
Diappointment
This seemed to be the perfect property upon booking. Most things about the property are good, except the main reason you rent a hotel room. The property is attractive, well cared for, well located. It is probably even good for a couple. No good for a mother & daughter travel pair, or any other travellers who don't share a bed. It's nice to have a separate room. That's why I chose this place. However.... The main bedroom lacked a TV. The sitting room with the sofa bed had a TV, but the sofa bed was horrid. The sofa beds should be removed so that future guests don't make the mistake of thinking you can actually sleep there. A chair would be so much better; you would never think to sleep in a chair. This property also provided a coffee pot, but if you wanted more than one bag of coffee, you had to pay. Very tacky. They'd be better served by increasing the rent by a lousy dolla.
One Great Place to Stay
We just returned from a week's stay at the Glacier Suites. The accomodations were terrific. The hotel host and hostess were a couple of the nicest and accomodating people you could meet. We were treated like family. The suites we stayed in had separate bed, bath, and living room areas with doors between so that you had 3 separated rooms. Can't enough about the place. management, and staff, and super clean rooms. We definitely would stay there again.
Waterton Glacier Suites is a terrific hotel
Just stayed two nights at the Waterton Glacier Suites. The hotel is immaculate, a gas fireplace in the living room and the bedroom. Our room was on the street side, bottom floor with a large sliding door (and a screen). The first night was very windy and blustery - we slept with the door open and the screen shut. There was absolutely not a sound to be heard from the street - it was so quiet, unbelievable. A family of deer graze around the hotel at different times during the day. We also spotted six bears on the Red Rock Canyon Road. Waterton is a beautiful little town and I highly recommend this hotel.
Like a great Condo, not a hotel room!
We are a family of 4 (2 children under age 5). We stayed here one night at the beginning of Aug. We checked in early (thank you for that--we'd driven a long way and the kids were sick of the car!). The front desk was so nice and helpful. We checked into suite 1 and were so glad we were able to park right outside the room (literally 5 steps). Forget the view---it was looking out at the parking lot, but we really didn't care. There is a little family room, a small hall area with a fridge, sink and closet, a nice size bathroom, and a large bedroom. There were only 2 things that weren't so great about our room. One was the air condt in the bedroom never cooled the little family room off. It was so hot trying to watch tv, but there was a fan. The other thing was the tile in front of the fireplace was filthy. We didn't realize until our baby crawled all over it and got himself all blacked up. We loved having the fridge and microwave in the room and felt this was an overall great experience--great place! We would definitely stay here again. The location isn't the greatest--it's several blocks from the lake, but that was ok with us too. We were so exhausted at the end of the day, that it didn't really matter. A little about the townsite: We spent hours going through the shops in the townsite and walking the blocks. We found a small park for the children to play in which was heavenly! The food wasn't all that great in Waterton and we found it quite pricey for the value and quality. There is a nice chocolate (candy) store with a lot of international varieties not found in the midwest-US. There is also an ice cream shop that is wonderful! For 1st timers: I would advise getting your US $ changed to Canadian $ when you get there. The shops do take US $ but your change is in Canadian $ and the conversion can get a bit confusing.... did you really get the right change back??? Be sure you get your Canadian $ exchanged back to US $ before the little exchange place closes. We left early one morning and were left with a pocketful of canadian $. You must also do the Cameron Lake drive. We got there early one morning just as the sun rose and were lucky to see a mama moose and her two babies. We also saw bears--at the lake and on the way back.
Hit or miss
I stayed here on my first trip to Waterton. Our family took one room, and my sister's family took another. The " suites " were handy in that the living room was separated from the bedroom, so we were able to put the kids to bed first. However, the layout with a dark hallway between isn't the best. The check in service was mediocre. But that's about as good as you can do up here. Our room was fine; but my sister's room was sweltering. Her heater was apparently stuck on. When she complained they said something like " Oh, yea, just open the windows " but weren't willing to try to fix the heater. Well, that still wasn't enough to the place cool, unless all of the doors and windows were left open, which defeated the purpose of the suite and kept the kids from going to bed. Overall my sister and family loved Waterton and vowed to return (though she hasn't yet). I have not yet returned to the Waterton Glacier Suites, but instead stay at the Waterton Lakes Lodge. It has the same surly check in problem, and mediocre service. But they have a restaurant. And so far we haven't been stuck in a room with the heat stuck on, and if we did there are more rooms that we might be able to be moved to.
Great experience at this hotel
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in the summer on our family vacation and had a lovely stay. The check-in was friendly, helpful, and prompt. The front desk staff was knowledgable about the area, the wildlife, and the town. They spent several minutes answering our questions, offering advice and tips about the area, and were very pleasant. The rooms were nicely appointed, we LOVED the layout, with the washroom / refrigerator area separated by doors, between the livingroom and the bedroom. The room had a fireplace for winter stays (one of the only places open year-round) and air-conditioning for summer stays. We woke up each morning to deer on our patio looking in. Although this property does not have its own restaurant, the town is small enough to quickly walk anywhere easily. We did not, however, enjoy its sister property, the Bayshore Inn, to which we were given dinner vouchers for 10% off. The service was terrible, the prices were not reasonable in the least, and we were sorry we went there. The 'pizza place' down the road was a much better choice and we dined there, happily, for the rest of the trip. Waterton Park was the highlight of our vacation, the Waterton Glacier Suites was a wonderful choice and I would recommend it to any category of traveler. We are actively planning our next trip there, in the winter, this time.
Spacious, Clean, Great service
Very spacious suite, two fireplaces, mini fridge and microwave, very good friendly service, clean, excellent location, reasonably priced, would highly recommend and would definitely stay there again.
All around a great trip!
It has been a long time dream of mine to come to Waterton Lakes. I was very excited to be able to make this dream a reality. I had originally booked the Deluxe suite for my boyfriend and I to stay the weekend of April 9-12 2015 (as it was the most economical. We later found vouchers giving great discounts for the hotel rooms and ended up upgrading to the Loft suite and saved $100 in the process, so keep an eye out for those! The room shuffling was done through Alexis who was very helpful and thorough. We arrived late Thursday night after the front desk was closed and had to simply call the operator who sent down the manager to check us in. Check in was easy and pain free. We got to our room and it was nice, 2 floors a couch and nice living room including a fire place, satellite tv (which out of the 8 channels given only 4 worked), which I think they understood the spottiness of the connection as they had 2 shelves full of movies that were free for rental. There was a jacuzzi tub in the living room connecting to the bathroom downstairs, It was nice. The only downside to any of the bathrooms was that the downstairs shower head's spray exceed the size of the shower. Meaning you have to be in the shower and turn it on, or get water on the floor. Upstairs we had plenty of storage space for our belongings as well as a queen size bed. The room cleanliness was good. I did not notice anything upon arrival but my boyfriend did notice a couple small stains on the couch as well as the upholstered bench at the end of the bed. We woke up early the next morning and went to hike the Bears Hump trail (seriously... do it, its an amazing view) When we had come back their breakfast service was over but the Manager insisted we order anyways and had it brought to our room. The restaurant was small, about 5 or 6 tables so we had all our breakfasts brought up to us. The breakfasts were good, home cooked by a lovely woman (I didn't manage to get her name, but she deserves all the credit here), and delivered with a smile. I later realized she was the only cook for the hotel, as well as aided in the cleanliness of the rooms. She is fantastic. The town caters to summer tourists, so during the winter months the town is 90% closed, which we were aware of. It was very nice, it seemed as though we had the town to ourselves! We went to front desk and reconnected with Alexis. Being a permanent resident of the town I asked her what her favorite things to do were. She gave me great options, as well as finding a map and laying it all out for me. She made navigating roads and trails very easy and illuminated options I would have never found on my own. All in all it was an amazing trip that were made even better by the kindness of these two ladies. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone :)
Easy to find - look for the turquoise roof
This was our first stop on our Canadian Rockies trip after a ten hour flight and three hour drive and made a wonderful start to our holiday. Room was clean and spacious with separate bedroom, living room, kitchen (fridge & microwave) and bathroom. Laid in bed watching deer graze outside our patio doors. Waterton is a small pretty " village " in a stunning location, with lots of places to eat and see wildlife. We saw 14 bears in two days!! (Akamina Parkway at various times of the day - two together at 12 noon) We would recommend staying here to anyone - you can visit the Prince of Wales Hotel without paying the price to stop.
Waterton Glacier Suites
Visited Waterton and Glacier National Park in July 2012 and spent a total of 6 nights in 3 different hotels in Waterton: (1) Waterton Glacier Suites (2) Bayshore Inn, and (3) Prince of Wales Hotel Coincidently the nightly room rate at each the 3 places was approximately the same for us. The Glacier Suites and the Bayshore Inn have common ownership. The Galcier Suites is dated but nice and offers the most room. We stayed in the standard suite which has 3 separate rooms, (a) a bedroom which has a sliding patio door to the exterior of the building, (b) a middle area which included the bathroom, closet space, a microwave and small frig, and (c) the main living area with a couch, TV and fire place which faces the common court yard. The front of the Glacier Suites looking out from the bedroom has a nice view of the mountains The Glacier Suites is in the middle of the quaint little town of Waterton and it is short walk to restaraunts and shopping. I did not really enjoy the small courtyard which has a fountain. The Bayshore Inn has much more charm and our room which was a 2 bedroom unit had a beautiful view overlooking the lake. The Bayshore Inn is ideally located close to restaraunts and shopping and you also can walk the path on lake shore as well as over to the marina. The restaraunt is excellent and we ate there several times. Our room had a very large balcony where we sat, relaxed and saw deer grazing in the grass near the lake. Very relaxing and romantic. The only thing missing was a king bed. Our room was on the second floor which i would recommend. The Prince of Wales Hotel is a classic railroad hotel in a class of its own with the awesome lobby and the incredible views overlooking the lake and mountains. The view from the hotel over the water reminds me of the view of from the Fairmont overlooking Lake Louise. From the Prince of wales you also look down over the whole city of Waterton. Of course these classic railroad hotels which are so charming have small rooms and few amenities but it's all about the breathtaking views! I was disappointed with the dinner we had at the Prince but breakfast the next morning was good.
Good price, Awesome location
This hotel is absolutely magnificent! I can't believe I have lived in Alberta my whole life and have never been here. It truly is a castle in the mountains. We came for a romantic weekend getaway from Calgary and decided to opt for a Romantic Suite. Fabulous! The view was great. The service is impeccable as well. We really enjoyed our stay. Great view, Great hotel in a wonderful area of Waterton. Great experience overall.
A-OK
Stayed here July 18-21, 2013 - family of 4 with kids aged 4 and 8. We have stayed here in the past. Checkin was good, staff was friendly and helpful. Room was perfect for our family, we had a loft suite. We loved the stunning view we had to the south from the room and the deck - it looks towards the mountain ranges, into Montana. The loft bed and the murphy bed on the main level were very comfortable - linens were clean and in excellent shape. The carpet is new and the room is in excellent repair. The room is also very clean, the housekeeping staff did a great job while we were there - we left them a tip, which we only do if we are impressed - thanks to them! Checkout was also fine, and had a nice chat with the friendly fellow working there. The Wifi does not work all that great - I think that internet and cell phone service in the entire town is not what you are used to in a bigger center - supply and demand rules! We did not care as we were in Waterton to get away from smart phones, ipads etc.... mission accomplished! We have already booked another long weekend in August - our family is looking forward to it.
Nice comfy big room
We got the Romantic suite which was very lovely. The room was big and It had a jacuzzi, fireplace and a balcony. They even have a microwave in the room if you need it. We had mule deer and big horn sheep wandered into the courtyard of the hotel in the morning. Waterton is a great little town to be in if you want to be close to nature.
Great for a romantic winter getaway
Waterton is absolutely beautiful. It's very deserted in the winter - most everything shuts down, but I had heard they had some really good snowshoeing trails around there, so we went for our anniversary. So glad we did. The town is very quiet, but the hotel was very cute and cozy. Two fireplaces in the room, which was nice, and they had movies for you to rent from the front desk. They had a little cafe that served breakfast, lunch and dinner, the food was decent, nothing spectacular and the menu is limited, but it was still good nonetheless. The bed was very comfortable. The rooms could use a bit of updating, but for the price, I think the hotel was great. You can walk around the lake, and there's hiking trails that go right from the end of town, we brought our snowshoes and headed to Bertha Falls, definitely worth it, the views were amazing. The staff were very helpful and friendly, made sure we had everything we needed. All in all, it was a great little getaway, especially if you want privacy. If you're looking to be able to go out to restaurants and do touristy things, don't go in the winter, literally most everything is shut down. But if you're up for some amazing scenery, and time away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it's definitely worth it.
Nice-convenient- perhaps a bit pricey
We have stayed in both the Bayshore Inn Sister property and now the Glacier Suites. We found the Glacier Suite Romantic Room nice and roomy - convenient to Town. No breakfast included in summer. While we enjoyed our stay we found the value for the price not as good as other places we have stayed at. The Bayshore Inn is more basic in room- but has restaurant and more amenities. The view is better also and is on the main street.
Awesome!
We stayed at the Glacier Suites in Waterton and were very impressed! Staff were gracious and informative. Room exceeded our expectations. Would stay here again without hesitation. Hope to be back!
Very Disappointed
Had a romantic suite that overlooked the alley! A step above Motel 6! The tile was cracked in bathroom / shower very small. The sheets wouldn't fit on bed. I ask for them to be changed but received same worn out / too small sheets. Made for a miserable night. Not worth the money. Should be half the cost!!!
Only An OK Place to Stay
This was just an OK place to stay. Nothing really exceptional, nothing really terrible. I have to agree 100% with the previous reviewer. The individuals at the front desk are less than happy about their jobs, even the person with " manager " on his name tag. They are there, that's about it. I don't think you can call them employees of the " hospitality " industry, because they don't understand the basic concept of making someone welcome. The room was fine, nothing special, but no real complaints. There doesn't seem to be a lot of competition in lodging in this area and that's one reason no one seems to strive very hard. We did have dinner at the Kilmorey Lodge and it was wonderful. The area has limited choices for breakfast and we went back to the Kilmorey and it was great.
A little piece of paradise!
We needed a relaxing getaway, so I booked an online deal at Waterton Glacier Suites. The deal was for a " Romantic Suite ", complete with in-suite Jacuzzi and Fireplace. We were impressed. The suite was spacious and very clean. The bed was fantastically comfortable, and we made good use of the jacuzzi. Daily room cleaning was efficient and non-intrusive. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. They even had a chat with the self-important jerk who chose to take up two parking spots for his wannabe " Mercedes ". LOL. A great getaway, and you just have to love a place that has deer and mountain goats who wander right into the courtyard. We shall return!
stay in june of 2015
Our room was small compared to U, S, rooms but very comfortable with queen bed, jacuzzi tub, walk in shower and fireplace. Location was very convenient with all restaurants and shops within walking distance. Front desk staff unlike a lot of places in the U, S. were very helpful in directing us to things to do and see in the town and also the park. W e will be going back next year for a longer stay and recommend Waterton Glacier suites and the surrounding area as one of the most scenic areas on North America. For those who enjoy wildlife we saw bears, rocky mtn goats, mule deer and big horn ship everyday
Wildlife in the garden!
An immaculate hotel with excellent service. From check in onwards the staff were most helpful. The room was large, very well furnished and very comfortable. The large balcony had a swing seat and a lovely view. Meals at the sister hotel were of a very high quality. Waterton is a very special place. The scenery is breathtaking and the wildlife, plants and trees were spectacular. We look forward to visiting again.
The nicest rooms in all of Waterton
Recently my wife and I came back to Waterton after staying the previous year at the Bayshore Inn. This time around we decided to spring for a Deluxe suite instead of a more basic room. To keep this short, the room was well worth the cost. This hotel was recently built and it shows: everything is modern yet appropriate to the Waterton vibe. The beds were particularly comfortable and everything about the room was pure quality. Our bathroom was spacious and had a nice tub that my wife often relaxed in while I was out exploring. The only thing missing was a kitchen, although restaurants were only a short walk away and we certainly had no desire to cook anything on our vacation! The one downside to Waterton, particularly for me as an ex-smoker, is that a lot of people smoke constantly and smoke everywhere. This bothers me and it was important that WGS had a no-smoking policy. While the staff is friendly and informative, it was clear that this policy was enforced which was very important to me. It also guarantees that the nice rooms stay that way. Overall we had a very nice stay at the Waterton Glacier Suites and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury room while visiting this wonderful national park.
Off Season Perfection
Arrived the evening of Friday May 1st, Found check in to be quick and friendly, restaurant was not yet open for the season yet but offered a 10% discount at the Sister hotel a short walk away which we took advantage of all weekend. Our Romantic Suite was very nice, clean and modern with a full bath c / w Jacuzzi tub open to the living area on the main floor, loft area consisted of queen bed c / w 3pc bath. The Room came with a mini Fridge, Fireplace, DVD player Satelite TV, iron and ironing board & coffee maker. Hotel Lobby is very small but offered a large selection of rental DVD 's for free. We stayed two nights and loved every minute of it. Waterton Glacier National Park is a Site for sore eye's, if you have every seen Banff or Jasper you need to witness Waterton as the pace is much slower but you have the advantage of the huge Lake to go canoeing or kayaking on as well as numerous hikes to enjoy. All in all Waterton Glacier Suites is very well located in the town site to take advantage of the resturants and pubs and far enough away to be quiet at the same time. Highly recommend it. Thanks for Reading.
Much needed break from the hectic life
After talking with someone who had been to waterton before, we decided to visit. usually we just do day trips, but we decided to stay for a few nights to get the whole experience of waterton and what it had to offer. The hotel was quite nice and it was clean and well maintained very friendly and helpful staff not too pushy or annoying like some places.. Helpful and knowledgable of waterton and the surrounding area, lots of different ideas on what to do, but unfortunately did not have enough time to do it all, so we will return again, the weather was very good while we were there so we were really lucky. Would be a very nice place to go on a romantic getaway, to enjoy some quiet time with someone very special. The fireplaces in the room could sure set the mood. I would recommend it to anyone, the prices are a lot better than Banff and Jasper for sure and not as crazy hectic. Bonus, not too far from the U. S. Border.
Terriffic Hotel
This was our first ever visit to Waterton National Park. We stayed at the Glacier Suites in Waterton for two nights (January 18 & 19, 2013) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the hotel. We found the hotel to be very modern and new. It was probably the newest of all hotels in Waterton. Speaking to a few local residents we were told it was the best choice of all the hotels in town (other hotels were closed for winter months) as rooms in other hotels are either very small or needed upgrading. It is located only a few streets from the lake. Our room (titled romantic suite room 213) was extremely clean and well furnished. It contained a small bar size fridge (not stocked), two sinks (one in bathroom and one outside of bathroom), a microwave, a one cup coffee machine, a beautiful large natural gas fire place, one very comfortable king size bed, and a Jacuzzi for two located in living area of room across from fireplace and bed. The standup shower stall in the bathroom was a bit tight for one but worked very well with lots of good hot water. The toilet did not sit very high off the floor and it seemed like it was a long way down to sit on it. We did not find the hotel to be noisy and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is no lounge, pool or fitness centre in this hotel. As well, there is no restaurant in this hotel but normally there is a restaurant across the street that is usually open but it was closed for January for renovations. Thus, our hotel had set up a temporary restaurant in its lobby for guests. Considering it was temporary, the meals (breakfast and dinner only served) were very good. Lunch was not available and meals were only provided on weekends. The menu choice was small but more than sufficed. If you are a first time visitor to Waterton be aware that all the stores and businesses in town are closed and boarded up in the winter months. The Glacier Suites is pretty much the only hotel in town open year round. There are other hotels with better views of the lake but they are do not have rooms that are as large and modern and comfortable as this hotel. The cross country sking and snow shoeing is great. If you are looking for a quiet romantic time as a couple for a weekend getaway or as a family for a winter weekend outdoor activity the Waterton Glacier Suites is a great place to stay and is a place we would highly recommend. We will be sure to stay at this hotel again on our next visit to Waterton which will likely be in the spring or fall seasons.
Wonderful time at Waterton
My niece and I do a trip each year and March 19 / 2012 we ended up at Waterton Glacier Suites. I would 100% recommend this hotel. The rooms have a living area with fireplace, microwave, fridge & coffee maker. Bedrooms are generally 1 queen / king with fireplace, and a pull-out sofa in the livingroom. 2 fireplaces. Sliding doors lead to a small balcony where you can view the mountains. There is no restaurant so you have to go out to one of the quaint, friendly restaurants within 5 min walking distance. You may come across mountain sheep grazing the hotel greenery, or a bear walking down the street. DVd's are available for an evening entertainment in the room. Shops are steps away.. and don't forget " Weiners " for a memorable hot dog.
Overrated
Based on reviews by others we expected much more for the price. Desk clerk was bored, uninterested, almost rude at both check-in and check-out;hardly a warm welcome. No toiletries and no coffee in the room. After waiting forever for desk clerk to get off the phone, we were told " Find a housekeeper " There were none! Heat in room was unbearable even though it was chilly outside. Since dinky little wall air conditioner was so noisy we couldn't sleep, we had no choice but to open the sliding door and hope no one decided to walk in off the nearby street while we slept a bit. Not worth it
Not what we expected
We had booked for 4 nights and got the deluxe suite so there'd be one room for us and one for our two toddlers (with the stairs, the loft suite didn't fit our needs). We only stayed one night and it was very, very cramped. The pull-out sofa bed was in awful shape, one of the fireplaces did not work (the one in our bedroom) and there was no TV in our bedroom (not a crime but somewhat disappointing). Our deck was right over / on the parking lot and the hotel's ice machine was outside up against the same wall as both sleeeping rooms. The ice machine clanked loudly all night in both sleeping rooms. There was a small fridge and a microwave and virtually no area to put any kitchen / food items. We left as soon as we could in the morning for the Crandall Mountain Lodge, which was a dream in comparison.
Comfortable and good position for town
This hotel is in a great position. You walk out of the door and are on the main street in a few minutes. There is no restaurant but with being so close to the town that is no problem. You can also eat at their sister hotel which sits on the edge of the lake. We had a Romantic suite which was roomy and comfortable. ~The only thing strange was the configuration of the room. It had a hot tub in the corner of the room but they had a strange set of opaque shutters behind the hot tub which led to the bathroom. So it meant the bathroom was totally open when these were open and even when they were closed you could see right through them. It was a bit weird and not my idea of Romantic! But other than that it was a lovely room and well positioned. We had asked for a higher floor with balcony and there were only two floors to the hotel. If you were downstairs you had a patio and upstairs a balcony. If I was to return i would ask for a more central room as the one we had was at the end and the view was half obscured by a tree. There was a also a bit of a wasp problem which meant we couldn't sit out.
Better than expected
I bought a living social deal and was not sure what to expect, but wanted to spend most of our time hiking. We got the romantic room with a Jacuzzi and figured it would be nice to soak after hiking. It was a very spacious room. The Jacuzzi was small, but perfect for two people and was quick to fill. There were big horned sheep in the courtyard in the mornings. Three good short hikes were Bertha Falls, Canyon Creek (including the falls) and Bears hump.
It takes a village
King size bed, balcony, whirlpool, breakfast buffet, dinner (meh), great location -2 nights for 494$. Comfortable place to stay & explore Waterton. Money well spent. Check-in gal is chatty & helpful if you come prepared. The romantic suite on the second floor is well put together. The restaurant attached to the hotel-actually a four minute walk to the lakeshore- comes with a view, friendly service, great cream soups, pretty cliché dinner entrees and a much more filling breakfast. The only thing you may see from your balcony are early morning deer grazing down below, Orion in the western sky & a brand new Church of Latter Day Saints across the street. Waterton...
awesome place to stay !
When i was in waterton for couple days i didnt like the prince of whales, it was very warm and no air conditioning so on my way to this little village of waterton i found this perfect spot around. Filnally stayed few days, comfortable, clean and quiet. I will definately stay here again!
Nice Fireplace + Nice Jacuzzi + Horrible Bed + Nonexsistant Customer Service = Meh
My wife and I were looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend away from the kids in Waterton. We knew that most of Waterton shut down after October and weren't expecting much more than quiet and relaxation, but we were assured by the booking agent that a couple of shops were open for essentials. We arrived to find that 3 hotels were open with skeleton crews (one with a restaurant) and no shops were open. We found the 'Romantic Suite' to be a very spacious, clean, Room with a Fireplace, Jacuzzi, and Balcony; Very Dated Styling though. We immediately left for dinner and when we returned we found that the bed was in horrible shape and sagged down in the middle approximately 4 inches, I called down to the front and was told that, They had never had that complaint before and they were sorry but there was nothing they could do to help, at this point it was around 9pm and we had no other options so we were forced to stay in the room and subsequently had a horrible sleep. This issue could have very easily been resolved with some common sense from the staff, instead, They ignored our concern and we will never go back! The Scenery in Waterton was the best part of the stay, and the Bed and Service was the Worst!
Fabulous Place to Stay in Waterton
My husband just departed the Waterton Glacier Suites this morning and I am writing to go ahead enter information about this special little hotel. We stayed in the Romantic Suite, # 202, and it was really, really so comfortable and convenient to everything in the little village of Waterton. Our room was very spacious with a small shower, large jacuzzi, fireplace which we did not use because the weather was very warm for this time of year, air conditoning which we did use and it worked just fine. It was a little noisy, but really cooked the vaulted ceiling room very well. We enjoyed a movie which was given us from the office and the flat screen tv worked really nicely. The number of stations on the tv are limited but we did have a sports channel and CNN news which is all we really needed. The little balcony was covered so if it were raining you still could sit out on the balcony and enjoy the wonderful views and fragrances of the mountains. The room had more towels than any hotel room we have ever stayed, including the Fairmonts and the Four Seasons. How nice it is to not have to think of what towel to use when in order to have a fresh towel available. Coffee and tea service was available in the room although I only made tea one time. We were out and about after breakfast until late afternoon. The hotel does not provide breakfast, and I had some concern about that; but the Bayshore Chops House serves breakfast from 7 to 11 AM each morning and it took only a couple of minutes to walk to this location, plus, they give you 10% discount if staying at the Glacier Suites. Our opinion for breakfast is to order from the menu at Bayshore Chops House. We had the buffet one morning and decided that the menu was much better - lovely presentations and fresh off the grill. Heard that Weiners is a great place to eat along with the Opera House for Mexican food. If we ever return to Waterton, which I do hope happens in the near future, we will stay at the Waterton Glacier Suites. It was lovely! Oh yes, the Prince of Wales Hotel was closed for the season while we were there, but after researching before I ever called for reservations, I do know that the room where we stayed - 202- was much, much larger than the rooms at the Prince of Wales. Plus, it was delightful to be in the little village to walk around. I think if the Prince of Wales were open, we would opt to stay at Glacier Suites and just visit the Prince of Wales for a meal or for tea. I think you will truly enjoy a stay at Waterton Glacier Suites, especially in room 202. Gherry Gustafson
Peace and quiet
We needed to get away for some breath time and are having no second thoughts on choosing this destination. The room rate was welcomed as it is the off season. Friendly, courteous staff welcomed us at reception. Our Romanic Suite was clean and well stocked with the essentials including bar fridge, microwave and dvd player. There was a good selection of movies in the lobby to check out. Limited television channels available but with so much to explore around town and the park, it never mattered. The bed was comfortable with lots of pillows on hand to choose from. Would defiantly go back!
hot water would be good for this price
made a last minute reservation at this hotel. it is well located (as are all the hotels in Waterton). The suites are roomy but on the dark side. The facility is old and rustic, but well maintained. Hot water pressure was erratic, and it took an hour to fill the tub. for 289$ a night one would expect more.
Pricey but its Waterton
Waterton overall is a quaint little town that doesn't seem to have caught the same commercialization fervour that Banff has been subject too. This property, for its price point is quite expensive, but I think that's what contributes to the charm of Waterton. Waterton literally has a small village feel to it and there are zero big commercial hotel chains in the town. Moreover, given the fact that there are no ski hills are significant winter sports around the area, its a seasonal town that really only opens up for the summer. So basically, what this means is that there is zero competition other than the existing hotels. With no real competition, the price points can remain exactly where they are and people will still come in hoards to check this place out. Personally, I agree that for $279, this place should be significantly nicer in any other national park like Banff or Jasper. However, given Waterton's rustic and quaint feel, I don't think it has to be because people will still come regardless and continue to complain about the price. Overall, I would give this place more of a 3.5, its not the best property in the world, but its definitely not the worse. Just don't expect a ton of value for the price you're paying. I would equate it to paying for a 4 star property while staying at a 3 star hotel. But hey, most people aren't there to hang out in their hotel room for 8 hours a day, most people are there to see the mountains and enjoy the hiking and biking. See the Forest from the Trees.
Maybe it is the best in Waterton -- But Don't Expect Too Much
Managing expectations is part of the problem of travelling. Very positive Tripadvisor reviews and a $275 per night charge made us expect something special. Perhaps if I had paid $140, and had told myself that this was as good as we could get in the small Waterton townsite with very limited accomodations, our attitude would be different. A " Romantic Suite " on the second floor (we were warned at the time of booking that there are no elevators) is not a suite, but a large room with a jacuzzi tub in the bedroom area. Why this is called a suite is interesting. Call me old-fashioned, but I still prefer a tub in the bathroom, and I don't think that's less romantic. The room was generally OK, but very peculiar. For example, instead of a closet, a white-wire hanging rack was on the wall next to the front door, where the ironing board was hung. I'm not sure why I need to see the ironing board from my bed. The bathroom had two sinks, which is a nice touch, but the shower stall was a fiberglass pre-fab I might find in a $89 motel. On the other hand, the room had a fireplace, which I'm sure would be nice on cold evenings (of which there are plenty). We arrived in warm weather, and our room was 84 degrees. It took several hours to cool down to normal. There was a fridge and microwave and table, and the room was very clean. The location is fine, but not noteworthy. Everything in Waterton is about two square blocks, so getting around is not an issue. Staff were friendly and helpful with suggestions. The requirement of a " damage deposit " on arrival is however rather bizarre. Waterton Park is beautiful, and best for hikers and family camping. So, as long as you don't think you are going to be at some fancy resort hotel or " suites " and realize that the price is supply and demand, you won't expect more than this is -- a small, decent expensive two storey motor hotel.
Nice stay
Hotel is in centre of small town. Nice big rooms. Very clean. Reception was very helpful. Comfortable beds. Nice bathroom. Saw bears just at the border of the town. No breakfast in hotel, but they point you to a nice restaurant at the border of the lake with 10% discount. Nice stay
Good choice for winter or shoulder season
We stayed at Waterton Glacier Suites during the first week of April 2013, and found this was a clean, quiet, comfortable, and convenient choice. Their winter rate ($109 plus tax) was attractive, and one gets a suite with a fridge and microwave. This was a great deal compared to the other options that time of year. For a few dollars more they included a full breakfast. Since there is only one restaurant open that time of year, one needs the kitchen. The big attractions that time of year are the hiking east of the town site (e. g. the Wishbone Trail), the Cameron Lake road was still open for skiing, and perhaps the largest elk herd in Alberta. The guy that took our reservation was very friendly and helpful. We'll be back, as this is our favorite mountain park.
A quick stayover.
My wife and I sayed in Waterton, at this property Oct 20. The room was excellent, I cannot wait to return to Waterton when things are 'open'. Not too much choice as most businesses are closed for the winter. Dont forget to pick up any supplies or snacks outside the park, during the low season. An excellent room, 210 and attentive staff.
A nice hotel with some kinks
We stayed at the Waterton Glacier Suites for 2 nights the week after Thanksgiving. We expected the town to be quiet but were quite surprised to find it pretty much shut down. This isn't necessarily a bad thing though if you're looking for a quiet time away while the weather is still good. The staff were pleasant although weren't able to really help with a couple of questions we had regarding park fees and whether gas was available in the next town over, Mountainview. For anyone wondering, it is and the gas station has a small store for groceries and snacks. Our server in the hotel restaurant appeared new but she did a good job 2 out of 3 meals we had there. The room itself was large and clean with the usual amenities as well as a small fridge and microwave. The shower stall was small with low pressure but otherwise fine. The " romantic suites " come with a jacuzzi tub and a fireplace which are nice touches. We booked a package that included breakfast in the on site " restaurant ". It was a good deal versus paying for the meals individually. I understand the need for the restaurant as there is only one other place in town open during the off season but they have a few kinks to work out with service and the food in my opinion. I believe this is the first year they've had a restaurant on site so perhaps they'll get things running better. It is a bit uncomfortable sitting right in the lobby a few feet away from the front desk as people check in and out of the hotel though. The one dinner we had at the hotel was good and reasonably priced considering the area but as there are only 4 items we opted to try the other restaurant (Vimy's) open in town the 2nd night. Breakfast at the hotel was a bit of a let down both in food and service. If we were to travel to Waterton again we would consider staying here a 2nd time but would definitely look at the other options.
Quietly impressive
Rooms: We stayed in one of the romantic suites during July 2011. The room was very spacious, cosy and immaculate. The room also had a balcony which overlooked the lake - the views were quite impressive. Service: We only dealt with one person during our three day stay at Waterton Glacier Suites and we were very impressed with the level of customer service; the man who checked us in was both friendly and helpful. He even walked us out to the car park so he could ensure we were given the best directions for the restaurants in Waterton and the hotel's sister hotel, the Bayshore Inn. Location: We couldn't fault the location! The hotel is tucked away from the main road and is within walking distance to all amenities. That said, I think all hotels are within walking distance to all amenities as Waterton is small town. Overall: I'd definitely recommend the hotel and would happily stay there again. While the hotel may look motel-like and basic from the outside, it's really quite impressive when you get inside.
waterton glacier suites, waterton lakes national park, canada
we had a king executive suite on the first floor. it was huge and had all kinds of space. our suite was on the first floor. we were the last suite in a big courtyard. everyone parked and walked to your suite. there was no luggage cart, again. when we checked in and found out, i asked about someone to help us with our luggage, the desk clerk said he would be glad to help us. i told him that would be fine. we never saw him. we had to take all of our luggage in again by ourself. a luggage cart would have made all the difference. the air conditioner was like a window unit, when i had made the reservation i was told it was window unit but it would cool the whole suite. it was up above the mantle over the fireplace in the bedroom. you had to stand on a chair to be able to reach the controls. since so many things up there had no air we were fine with doing that. lots of closet space and drawer space. living area had a sofa bed, chairs, small table with two chairs, ceiing fan. the kitchenette area had big frig with freezer space, microwave, coffee maker, ice bucket, cabinet space, a sink. the bath was small with a small tub that was high and i really had a problem getting in with my bad back and hip. the shower curtain sagged in the middle and would not stay put. the bedroom had sliding glass doors to a patio. the courtyard was nice. a lot of flowers and greenery and pottery and a fountain.
super trip in alberta
We went in alberta for a 'horse trip'. It was wonderful: you should go to the 'lac waterton national park' it is super. Specially, try to sleep at the hotel glacier, right in the national park; the vue is undescriptible. I took 27 pictures only around this hotel.
