Our mission here at Moogs Place is to uplift your spirit with great food, great music and a clean, safe and friendly atmosphere. We have a great time playing around with fun drink recipes. We also have a wonderful selection of local and domestic beer and wine to choose from. Every night we offer great food from our full menu and we like to switch it up every week with our specials board, so there is always something new to try when you come in!

Fun little place
We were needing a late lunch / early dinner, and arrived her when they opened at 3:00. At that off-time, we had the place to ourselves. I had the Stoner Mac & Cheese, which was delicious-comfort food with a kick. My husband had the fish and chips and was pleased with his selection. Our server was attentive and friendly. We could tell that this place, with a large bar and tiny spot for live music, would be fun at a later hour. This is quite near Stowe, where it seems that the only reasonable food is pizza, so we were pleased to find Moog's, with its interesting choices and great prices. We would definitely come back if in the area.
Nice place with good food and atmosphere
Always great food and service with great cocktails as well. Location a bit far but worth the drive to get good food.

Local Hangout, Nice Vibe but Mediocre Food and Hopelessly Slow Service
I'm guessing all these great reviews are written by loyal regulars, or maybe we just caught them on an off night. This is a very small place, crowded, old, a little dirty, with VERY slow service and average to below-average food. We sat outside with a dozen locals who all knew each other, very friendly vibe with everyone stopping at every table to say hi. Tuesday night and had a live solo guitar / singer, quite loud and good on guitar, but should stick to softer, simpler tunes. We waited over an hour and a half (!) for our simple order - onion rings (well breaded but cold), shrimp salad sandwich (surprisingly good) and chef's salad with grilled chicken (came cold). Clearly the food had been made 30-60 minutes before coming to our table and might have been pretty good if not cold and starting to petrify. There was only one waitress who was torn between hustling and chilling with all the locals. After being there more than two hours I went to see if she'd rung up my bill and she was talking to friends at the bar, seemed surprised to see that I was still there. So, classic rundown neighborhood hangout - amateur but enthusiastic music, competent kitchen, beat up premises, and service that can disappear for way too long.

Great local favorite that's open in VT as we travel. It's so exciting to find a place we know that's open, safe, indoors and outdoors!
Great food and micro brews
My wife and I just ate dinner at Moogs and we both had the fried chicken sandwich and fries and it was delicious. The staff is friendly and the service very good. We try to go often.
Excellent little find! GREAT burger and fries too!
Excellent little find. The burger was excellent and the service was super fast and the live music was great. I really think they're doing everything right here and look forward to going back again.
Moog's at Johnson
An interesting venue, but food was good. Quite noisy, so conversation was difficult. BUT food was good. Try their PEI mussel stew--yummy! Another party member was not happy w / the French fries... they seemed " old " or end-of-run.
Cozy comfort food
This place is a gem. We had dinner and the food was wonderful. The cheddar vegetable soup was spectacular. The service was very good and friendly. Prices are reasonable and portions are above average.
Live music band each night!
What a spot in Morrisville! Live music show each night. The night we were there, it was a blues / rock band. Good selection of local beers. The atmosphere in the place with the live band is great. Nice stop!
Delicious Food, Fun Music
We were looking for good, cheap pub food with live music and this place was perfect! Service was very friendly and accommodating to our dietary restrictions (dairy allergy). Music was fun, very chill place to relax with a beer and friends. Outdoor seating was nice, indoors was even cooler with beautiful art by local artists. Must get the Stoner Wings! We would love to come again!
Great night
Went to Moog's last night the food was great the bartender was fast we had a few drinks and a bite to eat and then went out to the movies we highly suggest it
Hard To Find
We used GPS to locate this quirky place in the middle of winter and could hardly find it. The entrance is in a small parking lot in the center of town. The host and bartender were great. I had one kind of delicious burger and my husband had a different one as well. This is definitely not a fine dining place but all of the food was great and they have a huge selection of beers. There's art work for sale all over the walls and it's some pretty funky stuff. I found it reminiscent of my earlier hippy days. They host entertainment and trivia nights. It is worth a visit with a hungry tummy.
You Won't Be Disappointed!
Thinking it more dive bar than restaurant, I was ready to exit Moog's when Tom (co-owner, I think) talked me and three companions into staying. Thank you, Tom. Turns out, everything was top notch. Excellent menu selections, super-friendly people, great artwork, and several table visitations / conversations with Tom, the chef, the artwork artist, and other welcoming locals. If we weren't exhausted, I would've stayed longer for the live music. Next time, maybe. I'd call the ambience a fusion of almost gourmet dining in a music club environment a la Vermont quirky. If you prefer Panera Bread, keep on driving.
Great Local Bar!
What can you say that isn't already said?! 5 Stars! This place serves up good food, great service and chill music. Every time I've been here I've been pleased - and look - I don't even drink! hah.
met friends to hear live music
the place is a cosy venue not much space for seating and a tiny area for dancing or standing around. Food was good and reasonable prices. it is a local bar and that area was busy.
Moog is the man!
Between shopping and visiting family, we stopped into Moog's to grab a quick pint. Decent beer selection. The Moog made our visit memorable. He spent his time chatting with us about the area. Great atmosphere. Will stop in again next time in town.
Burgers with Friends
Very nice evening on the deck with acoustic music trickling out from the bar. Burgers were great! Nicely sized to fill you up but not too much. Friendly staff.
Local Spot With Broad Appeal
While I spend more time in Stowe when visiting family and friends, I won't miss a trip to Morrisville and Moogs Place. The house 'Stoner Wings' are worth the trip alone.
Great local vibes
We decided to Lyft it to Moogs so we can hangout with some locals. We walked into a crowded bar with live music and smiling places. It's one of those places you get the feeling everyone knows each other but we never once felt like the " out of towners ". We got a seat at the bar, ordered some fries and had a blast. Don't know about the food but I think you go for the vibes.
Dinner and music
Second night after we arrived in town and saw a little notice in the local paper. " Old and In the Way " tribute band Sunday evening at 5pm. At Moogs Place. OK! Great old bluegrass band of the 70's that featured an all star line-up including Jerry Garcia and David Grisman. What do we heave to lose? The band was excellent. Five very talented people playing very authentic blue grass and doing the Old and in the Way tunes really well. It was a very pleasant surprise and a joy to listen to. As good as the music was so was the food being served. Simple tavern food done very well (a real rarity I'm sad to say). I had a pulled pork " Sammy " and Denise had their special burger. The burger was substantial and done as ordered. It was quite flavorful. The pulled pork was wonderfully rich in smoke as I like it. The real pleasant surprise was the fries. They were the best I've had in a long time and as good as the best that we ever had in Paris!!! Well done! So if you find yourself in Morrisville or down the road in Stowe stop in for a good local ale, very well prepared meal, a smile from the waitstaff and maybe even some great music. Enjoy!
Good food, friendly service
While staying in Morrisville on vacation we ate dinner here. The food was very good and the young man who served us and tended bar was very friendly.
Dinner
The place is little but has a nice deck for outside eating. Service can sometimes be slow. The salads are huge and they have a full bar for drinks. They always have specials too.
Bland and frozen
Had a bland frozen fish and chips and got to have the " chef " try and hit on my wife. So there's that. The music / comedy scene there is well not good.
I dug this place, you will too
The boys and I were on our annual motorcycle sojourn. Moog's was right in the heart of the quiet downtown. We ate dinner there one night. Appies were good, dinner was also. Price was right in keeping with the area. They had a large variety of beers to choose from and a bar inside that was busy. We ate outside on the deck. Our waitress Michelle was good and friendly and put up with us. They have nightly entertainment, open mic night, etc. We ended up back there the next night for beers and relaxing. The owner Tom came out and shot the breeze with us. Nice guy, community oriented and very nice. Sounds like they do many many things for the locals. Later we ended up talking with that nights guitar player / singer, another very nice person. I really liked this place. I'll be back.
Legendary!
Great bar!!! Shout out to Tom and Steve! Beer was amazing! Maple brown sugar habanero Wings and the mushroom onion burger hit the spot! The music was unbelievably good! Big shout out to Seth Y / Jason W / Jim C / and the vast talent at open mic night!
Best eat and rock joint in Morrisville
After living in Lamoille County for 8 years, this is my go to place for great live music (5-6x / week), food and welcoming vibe. Owner Tom is gracious, accomodating and cool, working with the staff to make each patron's visit consistently enjoyable. Big thumbs up.
Tom went way out of his way to make a family get-together very special
This was my first time at Moog's Place. We were treated with such special consideration that is rare in most places. Our family luncheon was amazing. The children were given special consideration to make my grand-daughter's day extra special right down to the chicken noodle soup she loves from there so much. My quesadilla was outstanding. My grandson's chocolate cake was amazing. The lobster ravioli looked good with a tempting presentation as well as taste. The atmosphere is really fun. They have music everyday which surprised me, to be able to pull such talent in such a small town is wonderful. This restaurant is small but worth giving it a try. It makes you feel young at heart.
Moogs is here to stay!
Another of our Morrisville eateries that changed a lot of hands over our 21 years here. The place to go for music every night, good food, good prices or sit at the bar and watch what's on TV.
Used to better
Not sure what happened but this used to be a good place to grab some wings, burgers and a few beers. Not so much anymore. It's cheap, the service is well meh. Stay away from the fish and chips... it's frozen / pre-made.
Columbus Day weekend, 2015
We ate here Sunday night around 7:00 PM of the long weekend. It is a small restaurant (seating for maybe 25) and they were out of the NY strip. The food was tasty, temperature perfect, and the local beer was excellent. The downer for us was the live music. The staff apologized to us and told us every year they offer live talent on Columbus Day weekend. The music was fine; the issue was the small room and huge speakers. The music was way too loud for us but just fine for the younger crowd. Maybe next time we will go either for lunch or an early dinner!
Good Food
Two families and we sat outside on front deck. Area surrounding was a bit run down, but not unsafe, and we found it interesting! Owner, Tom, waited on us. He was super friendly and explained any questions we had on the menu. Good list of beers on draught, and fresh mint in the Mojitos! Wings were tasty, Stoner and dry rub equally good. Burgers good, but special steak burrito had overlooked steak and not a lot of flavor. Fries, yummy. Fried pickles ok. All in all I'd go back next time in town!

Great place in the heart of town
Moog's Place is a cool little place, tucked away in the center of town. It has live music nightly and is a true locals hangout. The food is excellent and the service is great. If you plan to have a conversation during dinner, get there before the live music starts. It is not that it is loud, it is just a smaller place, so the music fills the place.
Schöner Abstecher von Hermanus
Nettes kleines Familienrestaurant, welches sich hinter den großen Namen aus Franschhoek nicht verstecken muss. Reservierung empfohlen. Wenn man schon da ist, sollte man auch einen Abstecher zu Creation machen
Great little place for a decent meal
Moog's is located right next to the movie theater in town which makes for a nice date night out - dinner and a movie without breaking your bank. Food was decent, good service, good Vermont craft beers. In summer they have an outside deck for dining. Go, you will like it
Frozen food & an owner who overstays his welcome
I really liked this place the first time we went. Good service, good food and it was nice to sit on the little patio. Next (and last) time, we had the fish & chips which I rather liked. The owner later came out to inquire how everything was and simply wouldn't leave our table. I absolutely appreciate the owner / chef wanting to know if everything was alright but he kept talking about how the fish & chips were frozen (for 14 Dollars, I certainly don't want frozen food), asked if we had any suggestions and kept inching closer and closer until we were able to smell his breath and noticed that he was drunk. He still wouldn't leave. So we bade a hasty goodbye and beelined to our car - we wont' be back.
Friendly people, delicious food
So glad I found Moog's Place on Trip Advisor! We were in town three nights and ate at Moog's twice. The food and atmosphere were that good! The co-owner, Tom, stopped by our table for about twenty minutes just to talk to us. Very friendly guy! I got the fish and chips and the food came out piping hot and delicious. My sister got the Mac and Cheese and loved it. My husband and brother-in-law both got the summer vegetable soup and both said it was excellent. The appetizers were fantastic, as well. The second time was just as good. Great burgers and pulled pork sandwiches. The chicken enchilada was also excellent. Friday night they had live music that was quite good, too. The decor is a little shabby, but clean. I highly recommend this place!!
A fun place
Moog's always has a great music schedule. A great place to go on any night, have an appetizer (fried pickles are great) or burger and a beer and listen to live music. Extremely friendly staff and a nice draft beer selection.
Best Local Spot Around
Live music every night, good food, good drinks, nice vibe, The Moog burger is fabulous, wings are decent, late night menu is a plus, drinks & food are a bit pricey, still worth the visit any time :)
Great service, OK food
I got a burger and fries. I am not sure why people rave about the burgers. Mine was over-cooked and just a regular burger. The french fries were not crispy. I ordered the maple cheesecake because the waitress highly recommended it. It is really a cheese pie. The crust was white, under cooked and tasted awful. The cheese part was not mixed properly as there were big hunks of cream cheese throughout The maple syrup that was poured over it was what made it a maple cheese cake. I will try a different restaurant next time I am in town.
More Than Expected
A local friend recommended Moog's Place for dinner before we went on to Johnson State to see my daughter. I had heard about it as a music venue, but was not familiar with what it had for food. What it had was excellent burgers, sandwiches, and salads. Almost everything was made on site and the combinations were delicious and very creative. Next time, I will be trying the lobster mac and cheese. The service was very friendly and efficient. The owner was clearing committed to every customer. This will definitely be a part of our trips to Johnson until my daughter graduates.
Great food and service
We had a burger and vegetable quesadillas. The food was really good! The service was friendly and prompt! We couldn't stay long enough to hear the band because it was a school night for the kids but will definitely go back!
Great food, a little pricey for the area
Wings, island chicken Sammy and BBQ pork sandwich were very good. Seating is limited as it is a small restaurant. If you do not like having someone quite close to you, this is not the place for you. What kept me from giving all 5 stars was the soda refill charge. You pay $1.75 for a soda which is abou 3 / 4 ice. Each refill is $1.00. I was not aware of that it we would have drank water. If the menu states that I did not notice as most places now give free refills or at least 1 free.
Best Value & You Feel So Welcome
Wednesday night is our traditional go to Moogs night since wings are on special and they are so tastey. All the rubs and sauces are unique. We LOVE the homemade Jalapeno Poppers, with that smoked bacon in the cheddar cheese center wow, just makes it the best ones we've ever had. Lobster mac & cheese is right up there too. What makes Moogs our first choice for dinner plans though is just how friendly the owner is, he goes above and beyond to make sure his patrons always feel welcome and well attended to.
Best Burger around!!!
Love this place! We went to Moog's for the first time last night craving bacon cheeseburgers and they were absolutely AMAZING!!!! The staff was also extremely pleasant! So happy that we tried this place. Usually we go somewhere in Stowe for any meals because that is where we live, but this was by far a great experience! Best burger around and the prices are very reasonable compared to the outrageous prices that you would have to pay in Stowe. Also, the music and the vibes were very welcoming! A PLUS!
Great Local Vermont Pub!
Moogs is a real local Vermont pub. Food is scratch made Vermont home cooking. Local fresh ingredients and imaginative nightly specials make every visit unique. This is the best place in Morisville to eat. Live music every night to get your groove on. The owner is a true restaurantuer.

Awesome food!
My husband and I ate here on our last night in Vermont. We had the fish taco special and the rub down sammy. We were both very pleased with our meals. We loved being able to sit outside and eat. This is a great local food establishment. Wish we would have been able come back at night for the live music and dancing.
Great soup... Comfort Food
Moog's Place is a fun, music filled pub in town that has some great comfort food, like meatloaf, shepherd's pie and pub steak. The wait staff is great and gives you their undivided attention. The desserts are killer. Try the Moogachooga! My favorite thing to order is the pub steak dinner with a glass of Pinot Noir. My husband's favorite thing is the Moog's Burger! He loves it....

Moogs is a quaint little bar w / great freshly prepared food. Warm cozy atmosphere... Try the hippie wings, they are original.
