I tried the Monster Mash, and dare I say, it was monsterly mashed! Packed with flavor and perfectly creamy, it's the kind of indulgence you'll keep thinking about long after your visit. Very Good-Great Selection
We topped our evening with Heyns's Ice Cream and it was very good. With a large selection to choose from, we chose the coffee-Oreo and pralines and cream and both were very tasty and delicious.

Flavors Galore
Heyn's have two locations--Iowa City and Coralville, Iowa. With every conviction that the one in Coralville is just as great, I highly recommend a stop. There are the usual favorites, but if your curiosity gets the better of you try their coffee and oreo. Heaven-on-a-spoon!
Top Choice for Ice Cream
Do not be put off by the location of this outstanding ice cream emporium in a strip mall next to veterinarian services. The ice cream is the best in Iowa City. Join the locals in the parking area to eat your treat in this no-frills operation.
Delicious Ice cream
Don't let the hand written menu fool you, it is absolutely delicious! They have very original flavors that you would not expect from that shopping center. Just do yourself a favor and stop by, you will not regret it.
Neighborhood joint with tons of great flavors
We're lucky enough to live within walking distance of Heyn's, and we've been loving it for years. There are many delicious flavors, and they're friendly about samples. My kids love the Monster Mash, and I also recommend Blueberry Cheesecake, the cookie dough yogurt, and the praline one. Highly recommended! They take credit cards now, too.
Inexpensive Treat
This place is located just down the road from my house and we love to sneak down for a quick treat. So many fun flavors and the kid size might not look like enough but it certainly is. Love to try something different each time we go in.
Worth a special stop
We definitely went out of our way to get here, but we were not disappointed. The selection is huge, and the ice cream is delicious! My favorite flavor was something like " Cookie Monster Mash " (or was it " Monster Cookie Mash " ?), but the banana pudding flavor was good, too.
Iowa City traditional place
Many students stop here after school to get an ice cream cone or shake. there is a nice variety of flavors that change from time to time. You will notice families walking here after their evening meal for a family treat.

Great place for great ice cream. Creative flavors and attentive servers. Nothing fancy just ice cream. Can't get much better.
German guy with Polish wife
My wife and I live in a Motorhome, retired and we travel the US. We stopped at the Grocery and found this Gem. they make their Ice Cream fresh and it shows. they hire school kids the run the place which is great to see the learning while working..
