Disappointing!

It's rightly called the oldest ski resort in Korea, and that shows! The Tower Condominium-Villa part (I don't know the other accommodations there) badly needs a very thorough overhaul. It's really run down outside and inside. Kitchen equipment is insufficient, and cleanliness leaves to be desired. Also, it's a pretty noisy place, and there's tons of cars everywhere. So, if you look for winter charm, better go elsewhere. Considering that this place is not inexpensive at all, it's definitely not up to what can be reasonably expected.

Very irresponsive resort and hard to get back the refund

We booked online in Sept, but there are some changes to our travel dates. We understand from the website that we are allowed to cancel 7 days before the trip. It is 1.5 months before the trip, and we tried to contact the resort numerous times. The resort simply ignored you and didn't reply totally. I wondered if we would get back our refund. Very irresponsible seller. Please think twice before booking this place. We need to file a claim on them since we can't get a response at all.

Wonderfull Yongpyong

I think this Hotel is very good. This Hotel sourounded with a lot of Hill and forest which make this place has a Wonderfull view in the morning. The room is very big and clean. as an Indonesian, I really like the concept that this hotel provide which give the experience of sleep like the natives. Very nice hotel to go after skiing along the day

Go go Gangwon! Lovely place!

This hotel is spacious and offers a variety of services and which makes it a fun stay. Warmers are working and you should be able to sleep comfortably despite the weather so that you will be happy and joyful in your stay.

Interesting Stay

Some rooms have bed, some does not. It's okay cause there's floor heating so you won't feel cold in the winter. There are also many facilities in lvl 1, ranging from restaurants, to leisure activities like karaoke, video arcade, etc. Overall a nice resort worth visiting.

Yes but..

This place is only partly set up for nonKorean speakers.... From the bus drop off enter the building. Walk a little - lifts are on your left. Take lift to second floor - FRONT (meaning front desk?!?) Reception won't give you what you don't ask for... so get two keys cut. Get a map. Ask how to get to ticket office. Do t ask how to turn down heating,. .. the only way to do that is to turn off the aircon at the switch - located underneath. Nothing else will get your room temp below 27 degrees. Then open the window!!!! You can sleep in T-shirt with no aircon and window open because the floor is heated. It will dry your washing!! No room service..... but they do come in during the day and turn your heating back on! If you do t turn it off you'll photosynthesise! See more info on skiing...🙃

Winter Holiday

We stayed 4 nights at Yong Pyong condominium tower. It was an ondol room. Slept on mattress. I was not used to the hard floor. The central heater was too warm so we had to open the window a little. The pizza / fried chicken restaurant served awesome chicken and pizza. The tube sledding at Yong pyong was too costly so we went over to Alpensia for sledding. Alpensia goes by half a day instead of number of times so that was more worthwhile. Free bus goes there - check the bus schedule. My children tried skiing at Yong Pyong. Buynthe Yong Pyong gift card to get discount. It snowed 2 out of the 3 whole days we were there. Beautiful.

Great location, but time for some upgrades!

Our family of 4 did an excursion from Seoul for 3D / 2N at Yongpyong Ski Resort. Booking / taking the purple ski shuttle bus was easy, and bus stops / parks at the parkade next to Condo Tower, so very convenient. Upon entering the Tower from the bus / street level, there was no sign to indicate that reception on the next floor up... took us a short while to note this. We arrived at 11:30am, and checked in to see if room was available. Without asking us, the front desk staff checked us into room and requested us to pay 30, 000 won (10, 000 for partial / each hour prior to 2pm check-in). It wasn't so much the cost, it was the principle, that at least they inform you of this surcharge first! Anyway, on the way to room, we noticed a smell from the carpets in hallways and they were fraying. The building was due for a re-flooring and paint job; otherwise, it was located beside the slopes, very convenient. Room was spacious, with rice cooker, microwave, stove-top (no oven), cups, dishes and cutlery. We had an " ondol " room, but floor mattress pad was too thin to sleep on, even though we are used to hard / firm mattresses back home! The duvet was thick and comfy, and they provide traditional Korean bead pillow, which was comfy to sleep on. There was no English instruction on how to control thermostat in room. Although it was -11C outside, it was hot and stuffy in room due to the radiant heat from floor. The only way to cool the room (even though there is an a / c wall unit) is to open the patio doors and bring in some cool air. Hotel management should consider having more English directions or directories to assist foreign guests... unless their intention is only to serve local folks. As for the mountain / slopes, there was no fresh snow in early January, so the runs were icy; however, the staff grooms the runs during 5-7pm (when slopes / lifts are closed) to provide better ski / snowboard conditions... and this was appreciated.

Convenient and affordable ski hol

Condo is next the ski resort. Towels and shampoo are provided by no housekeeping services. Has a kitchenette and fridge and wifi and cable tv. Our room faces the mountain, not great view but has a lot of privacy and greenary. The ski slopes are better maintained than alpensia in my opinion. Only downside is that most people here can't speak much English and every signs you see are in Korean. Even the receptionist and housekeeping can't speak much English. Obviously the cable are all in Korean as well, and some channels such as Netflix are paying channels. When I called the recept, they asked me to ask housekeeping, and housekeeping asked me to ask front desk. There are many eateries around, including a bakery in yong pyong hotel, and 2 BBQ restaurants (1 serving beef, 1 pork) in the estate. Below the condo is an arcade, bowling alley and table tennis corner, and a convenience store. Table tennis is expensive (8000 won for half hour) but very good quality table and bats. There is also a cable car that brings you to the top of balwangshan, nice place to see sunrise / sunset. Has shuttle to Incheon, alpensia and trout festival.

Nice mini apartments

I stayed there for eight weeks during the 2018 Olympics, in spite of the language barrier, everyone was very nice, and did their best to be accommodating. The rooms were clean and well taken care of, and the area was very nice, right at the base of the mountain.

Comfortable, clean lodging right on the ski fields

The standard studio room is equipped with a small fridge, microwave and rice cooker so you can rustle up some snacks. However, there is not tea or coffee provided. Others have remarked that breakfast was included in their rate but this was not the case for us.

Good location for ski

This hotel is just next to the ski and hence it is very convenient. The rooms are big and all the necessities are available and I have no complaints. The Wifi is strong and you do not need to have password to login. There's a small convenient store at the lobby. The breakfast is held at the convention hall.

2018-12-27 19:51:29

Great ski resort

Stayed at this ski resort for 2 nights. Room was well maintained. Breakfast which was included was at a large convention hall with good varieties. Ski slope was practically at the hotel door step, which made it very convenient for skiers. Love the location and ambience of this resort. Two thumbs up!

good heating system in the room, new laundry room, front desk service to be improved

we stayed 2 nights in the tower condo, we chose the ondol room (sleeping on the floor), thankfully, the room floor was very warm (good heating system), we always felt comfortable in the room, although it was true, the carpet looks a bit old but it was okay, the toilet and the room were well-maintained. the view from our room was magnificent, we can see the ski slope and the accommodation opposite us. we can also cook in the room, complete kitchen equipments and washing liquid, etc. the toilet do not provide any soap and shampoo so be prepared for it. in any case, there is a supermarket in the tower, but price is a bit on the high side as this is the only supermarket nearby. we took bus from gangneung to this place. From Gangneung to hwenggye terminal. there is free shuttle from hwenggye terminal to yongpyong resort, but watch out on the timing, you may end up waiting for one hour or two. alternatively, you can take taxi to the resort which will cost you around 9, 000 won (about 15 minutes drive). nearby attraction are the sheep farm, sky farm and Samyang ranch (by bus or taxi at a fee). the tourist information guide at hwenggye terminal was very helpful. the front desk service needs to be improved. they have a good and looks new laundry room. on one day we were told we cannot use it. but on other day we were allowed to use it, we felt confused. overall, good place to ski, but prepared to pay the fee and if you ski, it is recommended to stay longer.

Dec family winter holiday

We got to know Here Korea via Trip Advisor and decide to engage for their service. Everything was very good and convenient using email as the person in touch with me - Ms Jun Kim was fast and responsive. We have the guide arrange by Here Korea - Mr Andy Sui to bring us to the from Seoul to Yongpyeong Ski Resort. The drive along the way up was good and easy and we feel relax as well. The arrangement to collect ski equipment and ski clothes rental was smooth and no rush. Andy was a patience and good guide plus a very caring. Best of all he can speak English & Mandarin. He is also the ski instructor to all of us. He taught us the basic safety rules and was attentive. We enjoyed his ski lesson 👍 We highly recommend Here Korea and Andy as guide if you plan to come to Korea.

The greenpia condo did not completely remove the snow in front of the door. There was also no warning that the floor was slippery. Because of this my husband slipped on the marble walkway in the dark night. He suffered a temporary shortness of breath. After that, the pain in the chest also appealed. However, the condo refused to handle insurance. We do not recommend accommodation here. This condo is not responsible for your safety.

One Night Accomodation

Not a bad experience. Just tat 1 day is too short to enjoy the amenties in the house.. We arrived in the late noon and went for public bathe / Sauna house till dinner time. After dinner, went back to apartment and called it a day by drinking and snacking from the titbits we got from convinient store at lobby.. Didnt get to use their Washing Machine, kitchen...

Nice place to stay

Huge rooms with big fences, very comfortable place. You have everything you need, you can cook for yourself in the apartments but also you can eat in the restaurant. The prices are acceptable. The people are very nice and helpful. The beds aren't comfortable at all! Very clean place. Perfect choice for the next Winter Olympic Games!

2017-05-02 10:16:56

Clean and comfortable

Spent a nice weekend with my family here. Very good for the price with all the amenities. It's location is perfect for a trek in the mountains or to visit the East Sea. It has rooms with just floor mattresses, so this option might not be the best for some. Excellent value for the price.

Huge room and very comfy

This condo is very close to slopes, 5 min walk to ski / snowboard rental and rooms are huge. Well equiped you can prepare your own meal or breakfast. Nice view on forest with balcony. Good to know : bedding is tatami based fortunatly we could use multi-layer to make it more comfortable. We will come back again !

2017-02-27 11:41:02

Great condominium

The room of the condominium hotel was very comfortable, very near the slopes, condition was just little bit old but for me was acceptable, friendly front desk service. Very acceptable price! Lot of free parking.

2017-02-14 04:22:33

Pleasant outside; unpleasant inside

The location is the best among other resorts I guess. We reached at 12 PM but they allowed early check in (the room was not clean obviously) Ask for resort money card (get for the pamphlet to know where it can be used; you can use it as a prepaid card and avail discounts for ski related activities) Superb outdoor amenities like ski and snowboarding areas. Tricky schedules for skiing and related outdoor activities (Check resort website) Gear, clothing and helmet rental are available (No gloves and goggle rental, bring your own or buy them) Must take Gondola ride to catch a better view Indoor activities (Bowling, pool, arcade games, screen golf etc) are good for passing time when not skiing / snowboarding / sledging. Rooms, well the old carpets smell, no toiletries (only soap is provided) and no complimentary drinking water bottles (must buy from shops below or fill up at other locations) But, Kitchenette is well equipped; Room had good heating facility Good options for food if you love oriental cuisines (or eat at BBQ chicken n pizza) Tip* - Take the tour buses instead of other public transport options

2017-01-17 07:44:11

Would book here again (not for people who want luxury)

Stayed for four nights five days. No room service or daily cleaning (take your rubbish to the wheelie bins on every floor). No towels. Heated floors. Temperature control available. Hard bed. Self contained with small kitchenette and full sized fridge. No microwave. Same building as the YongPyong-ICN / Seoul / etc Shuttle Bus ticket booth (the bus stop is at the Tower Condo car park), the larger-sized supermarket (compared to other accommodation buildings) and a few eateries (Korean chicken was delicious). Price is as expected at a ski resort. Very short and quick walk to the outside lift and ski / board equipment hire ticket booth (outside Dragon Plaza Hotel) ; inside ski / board equipment booth (buy ticket from the outside lift and ski / board equipment hire ticket booth) ; and clothing rental shops (opposite the inside equipment booth). Private lessons are booked and paid for inside the same building as the equipment booth, clothing hire shops and lockers. Lift and ski / board equipment hire are for the day (or parts of the same day - morning / afternoon / night / twilight) only (ie. no multi-day passes), which means you need to line up to buy your tickets and get your equipment every day (lots of ticket windows). Clothing can be rented for multi-days. Most staff also speak English, Chinese and Japanese. All staff are very helpful, for example 1) one staff member left the equipment booth, took our skis and walked us to where we could safely lock our equipment outside 2) whilst we waited at the foreigners centre, another staff member walked to our hotel, to ticket booth, to Dragon Plaza and the shuttle bus booth to resolve our 30% discount promotion issue. Ends up we did not activate our promotion when we should have so it was null and void. She then recommended that we go to the Welcome Centre / gift shop (Dragon Plaza Accom building) to buy gift cards, which we could use like a debit card and gives 25-50% discount on lift / equipment hire as well as various discounts to other clothing rental shops, other shops, accommodation and eateries. Multiple gift cards can be used and you don't need to spend it all in one go. Using these gift cards that provide 25-50% discount on lift and equipment passes also meant we were not locked into a certain pre-booked schedule, giving us flexibility over the 5 days.

Right next to the slopes and big rooms

Stayed in Greenpia for one night and would definitely recommend this hotel. You are literally walking distance from the slopes and the rooms are spacious and clean. You have 2 options for breakfast, Korean a-la-carte cuisine or a European buffet breakfast. Good place to stay.

2016-12-27 22:49:17

Near to ski slopes

We had a low floor unit so the view was that of trees and a bit of the flat end of the ski slope. We had to arrange the tatamis (thin mattresses) on the floor in the bedrooms to sleep on. If you aren't used to thin mattresses (you can actually feel the hard floor), either stack a few more layers of tatamis if available or sleep on the sofa. Otherwise, book earlier and ask them to give you a room with beds. The floors were heated from below so it was all quite comfortable indoors even though it was freezing outside. No big bath towels, toothbrush and toothpaste supplied. Only small face and hand towels. The cooking gas supply in the kitchen is usually turned off (for safety sake), but you can easily see the red valve and turn it on. No complimentary bottled water in the unit so buy your own from the nearby convenience store, which accepts international credit cards. Internet access via wifi was free and fast. Take note of the advertising banners in Greenpia's reception lobby. I saw a Visa advert for 40% discount on cable car rides up to the peak, which is a good deal. The building is only a short walk away from the ski slope and facilities where you get the skis, poles, and boots. We rented our ski jackets and pants and goggles elsewhere though. Coin-fed lockers of various sizes provided at the ski equipment area. The smallest ones are good enough for maybe a small bag, and a pair of sneakers to be kept. If you have boots, a backpack, you'll need the next bigger locker (about 1, 500 won).

A night stay at Yongpyong Greenpia

Very interesting to sleep in such large resort. Each room has a big living room with sofas, 2 bed rooms and a kitchen. Sleeping mattreses laid over floor warmed by underneath hot water pipes. Providing very refreshing experience and good sleep. Convenient store provided almost all you need. Definitely great place for family.

2016-12-15 09:43:16

Barren Hotel

You get a big apartment with family hall and kitchen facility except it is without cooking gas. No complimentary water provided and no cooking gas so you have to purchase water at convinient stall. Good view overlooking ski resort. We had to sleep on Tatami.

South Korea is amazing- pity about the neighbours!

We went on a family ski holiday in January- and was ridiculously surprised at how awesome South korea was. From Seoul to the ski fields it was exciting, friendly and food was amazing. My Samsung phone was super excited to be home again- wi-fi everywhere- even on the public bus! We found that this hotel was good, but you had best specify bed style- as the Korean style beds were not favourable to our bodies and aching backs after skiing- a doona on the floor was not the cultural experience we were after. But the helpful staff made up for the lack of beds. There is not a lot of signage in English- and there are not as many who speak English as you would think for a place hosting the next Winter Olympics. But none the less we made it through. The food was cheap and very tasty and amazingly fresh. The hotel was perfectly placed for the ski fields. It had plenty of amenities- although mid range of them. Fun things to do other than ski as well. We would go back anytime!

this is my 2nd time stay at this resort, but this time not in good view room, we choose wrong bed, all sleep on the floor, very hard, actually can choose double bed and floor bed, the resort book by our tour guide, quite expensive. The breakfast buffet quite nice, this time we had international buffet breakfast. We stay 2 night's just because my kid's love the ski. but maybe next time can try other resort, this resort more suitable got family's stay, because is big enough and can cook also. But they no give towel, just small towel if you don't mind.

2016-03-12 05:24:02

Right where the ski action is.

1. Close to the ski slopes 2. Very big room 3. Free shuttle bus from Hwenggae terminal to the resort Since the hotel is in very close proximity to the ski slopes, you'd have more time skiing. The room we had was very big for 3 people, it could actually fit 2 more if allowed. The only drawback we found was the limited availability of resto / food court. We had no choice but to have food from the 24-hr convenience store since they're not as pricey as the food offered in the resto within the condo resort.

Awesome but BYO towels

Great facility for families. Comfortable rooms although overheated and Ondol beds are thin. (We asked did more bedding, which was provided, making for a comfortable bed). Very close to ski area, lots of restaurants, supermarket, ice cream shop, games arcade / 10 pin for v cold days and helpful staff.

Ski holiday in YongPyong

We have been going to this resort for more than 5 years staying in the Tower Condominiums and have skied all the runs including the black Olympic " Rainbow " runs and have never been disappointed. English is widely spoken especially by younger persons. Great selection of coffee shops and restaurants for all tastes - beer and chicken (megju 맥 주 and dak 닭 or chi kin 치킨). Korean BBQ is a must and enjoyed with beer or spirits (soju 소주) - as with most cultures the BBQ cooking is done by the senior male, and the meat is cut with scissors. In mid January 2016 there has not been much snow fall but there were 2 light falls while we were there and heavy falls in late January. Overall there was adequate cover. Interestingly, YongPyong is finally being discovered by the international ski community in the lead up to Winter Olympics 2018. This year we met many foreign ski tourists, including from Perth in Australia. Fashion tip: visit the Bogner shop in the Dragon Hotel for ski wear. Travel tips: bring a full size bath towel; wear long johns under ski wear; helmet, goggles and face mask / wind protection a must; heated gloves or hand warmers.

Great position, good value for money!

Stayed with family and friends for a ski holiday. It is a good family venue, but if you want something fancy stay at the Dragon Hotel. The hotel is in a great location for skiing, with lots of restaurants and a supermarket downstairs. Make sure you understand what ondol-style rooms are, as the futons are VERY thin and may be uncomfortable for some. We had a mix of rooms & kids were happy to sleep on them (stacked 2 - 3 high). The staff speak very little english which can make things more complex than needed. The whole resort felt very safe and was an excellent destination for kids.

2016-01-18 08:41:41

Great experience

This is our ski trip and we had a wonderful time. Absolutely Great view. We can see the entire mountain range. Except that it doesn't snow while we were there. The room was spacious and worst breakfast spread. All in all great fun.

Dream Holiday - Very Good

This is the first time I stay in this hotel, and the feeling of it is excellent. (1) Walking distance to the skiing place, (2) Room is very big, clean and warm, (c) Near the hotel, there is a cable car going up to a mountain, covered with ice, excellent view and scenery, best place to take photo, (d) Restaurant not far from the hotel lift, (e) Convenience shop just around the corner. (f) There is a indoor water theme park near the hotel, but very small, a lot of restrictions also, no fun at all. No comments on the skiing part because I do not ski... But I believe should be great fun and is high standard because the Winter Olympics games will be held here in 2018. I will come back to his resort again, next time I will try the skiing for sure. Pity we did not see the snow fall from the sky this time. My children hope next visit will.

Spacious Rooms and Pretty Views

Our room is large and the balconies faces the ski fields. You can watch experts skiing down steep slopes as well as beginners on the gradual slopes. Very pretty in winter. I suppose all rooms are self contained with kitchens, so you can cook if you want.

2015-12-22 17:51:10

Nice and clean but simple

Greenpiaare the newest of the rooms available at this resort with the older rooms on the opposite side of the ski slopes. These rooms are basic but clean and adequate to crash after a day of skiing. I personally don't like the ondol which is the floor heating but it does come in handy if you feel sore after skiing! There are plenty of choices of food nearby both Korean and western and there are several convenience stores open till late.

Comprehensive apartment

I stayed in Tower Condo for 3 nights for my ski trip in YongPyong. I booked for 2 twin rooms with all western bed through hotels.com, coz we want to avoid ondol style which some of us may not be good with sleep on floor with thin mattress. However, we were being upgrade to a room like superior suites with 2 bedrooms upon we check in. It should be happy to be upgraded to suites but 2 of us will need to sleep on ondol room and 2 of us will be with western bed.... thats not what i planned and expected. As i talked with the staff of the hotel in my home country to ensure the rooms with western beds... and i got the staff email confirmation on such arrangement. The staff at the front desk of the hotel explained the hotel is very full and we check in at almost 7pm, we can only take this offer. The mattress is too thin to sleep on and extra mattress is not free of charge, we talked to the front desk staff and requested extra mattress for free as they can't provide me western bed for all of us. The request is accepted and we go extra mattress for free. The room is very big and with a well equipped kitchen, we cooked our own breakfast and dinner for a night. We like this big apartment. The room is warm enough even it is winter and 0 degree. The room itself is a bit old butt acceptable as everything is well functioned. The location of the hotel is good, just take us 5 mins walk to reach the ski slope. Understood the time i have been there is peak season but i was extremely surprised that the cleaning lady is still cleaning the room while i checked in at 7pm! Suggested the hotel can better manage those check in / out time for guest and speed up the cleaning time. And no wifi in the room but lobby only. In general, i would love to stay in this hotel again due to reasonable price, big rooms with kitchen, good location to ski slope. I would love to come again

Charged Twice !

We had stay at YongPyong Tower Condo on 9th-10th Jan 2014. We had booked the room from Booking. Com therefore payment to make upon arrival. We was charged 149000Won for a night stay and paid cash upon check-in, the counter staff sales for credit card for deposit purposed. However, when my credit card bill came the hotel charged us another $240SGD!! We had email the hotel and Booking. Com but none get back to us! Will never use Booking. Com or stay at YongPyong in future. Disappointing!!

Good for budget travel

Stayed at this condo on the 20th November 2012. It's situated right in front of the parking lot where the drop-off and pick-up of the Daewon Express Bus (=Purple ski bus) is. They have heated floor and a balcony with beautiful view of the skiing ground. The condo is very spacious and has a kitchen with all the utensils for cooking and kettle. It's really awesome to have a kitchen where we can buy some ingredients from the mini mart on the 1st floor to cook in the condo. However, there is no microwave oven in the condo. You can use the microwave ovens provided in the mini mart if you buy the food from them. There is no bed in the tower condo but 4 mattresses about 2 inches thick each (stored in the cabinet) are provided to sleep on the floor since it's an ondol style accommodation. They only provide the basic toiletries ie. shampoo, shower gel and soap. There are no toothbrush, toothpaste or shower cap. My dislike is, they do not provide bath towels, only hand towels are provided so make sure you bring your own bath towel unless you want to dry your body after bath with a hand towel. If you stay in the tower condo, you can request for the discount coupon for the skiing. However, since November is an off-season so they already have a discounted price, which means the discount voucher cannot be used.

Not bad

We booked a 2 bedroom apartment here through a Winterfriend.com ski package. The apartment is spacious enough but not as big as the 3 bedroom apartment we stayed in at Vabien I suite in Seoul. There was a queen size bed in the master room and " Korean style mattresses " for 4 in the other room. Greenpia does not have any apartment with " Western style " beds to sleep 4 adults. We do not mind sleeping on the floors but the " Korean style mattresses " are not really mattresses, but more like duvets. After a couple of nights, my kids complaint that it was really too hard to be comfortable. Housekeeping is done only once every 3 days. There is one compuer and internet terminal free for all to use near the front desk. Greenpia is located one carpark distance away from the ski slopes and about 400m? from Tower Condo, where the ski bus from Seoul stops. As one previous reviewer mentioned, lugging your suitcases in the bitter cold may be an issue. While we were there, we had to walk to Dragon Valley Hotel (about 200m away) for our daily breakfast. You would also have to cross a carpark (maybe 150m) daily to get to the ski slopes, and if you prefer more choices for food. If all these are an issue to you bearing in mind the winter cold, the logistics of putting on all the layers everytime you need to go outdoors, then it would be better to choose the Dragon Valley Hotel. Nonetheless, we thoroughly enjoyed the spaciousness of an apartment and the character building aspect of carrying all our ski equipment daily in the cold to and fro ;)

Nice and very simple for family or group

The hotel / condo is right on the slopes so very convenient for ski access. We stayed in a high floor facing away from the slopes so no great view. One BR has a bed, the other is floor sleeping. All the floors are clean and heated. Actually, we found it to be very warm at night (almost too warm). Small kitchen was handy for simple cooking, tea and coffee. There is a large refrigerator, stove and microwave. Plenty of storage closets. 2F has a convenience store and a couple of restaurants. Our favorite for an early dinner was the Korean restaurant. B3 level has ski lockers and access to the slopes. You need 2 coins, 500KRW for each locker so stock up if you have a group. Wifi works great in the lobby area but, is spotty in the room. Overall, the room is very simple and good for family or groups.

Greenpia Condo

I booked a Green R (38P) apartment. The quality of this apartment is very good and clean. Very spacious and big living room plus small kitchen. Highly recommended for families. However some problems which I hope that YongPyong Resort will seriously look into are the transport and co-ordination issues. The bus from Incheon to YongPyong Resort (Tower Plaza) was well orgainzed as everyone has a seat number. But when you arrive at YongPyong Resort they stop at Tower Plaza and we have to walk all the way to Greeenpia Condo in temperature of 1 degs C. As it was snowing, it is almost impossible to drag you luggage through the snow. It took us more than 30 minutes with luggage. Beware that at the resort, hardly anyone speaks or understand English. Even with the BIG SIGN - TOURIST INFORMATION, all are in Korean or speak Korean only. Tried to book a bus ticket back to Seoul and it was an adventure. Finally after some broken Korean, sign language and English, I managed to have my bus tickets. However the story did not ends here. The final day for departure after our skiing holidays, at the " bus station ", NO ONE was around except some bus drivers which speak ZERO English. There are at least 10-15 buses parked there and with destination written in Korean. Tried to ask TOURIST INFORMATION again, they said go there. Many other tourists there are also frantic trying to get into buses as most of the Korean people has no problem in getting up the buses. Even with tickets (no seats number), I cannot get a bus as it was full and the driver cannot even communicate. Finally found another bus going to Seoul and jump on it. WARNING: Bus trip back to Seoul or Incheon can be a great mess. Be very careful and bus stops ONLY at Tower PLaza. All other condos, you musty walk your self with all luggage and in now below zero degsC.

Excellent hotel for ski holiday

We stayed at this hotel for 10 days for a skiing holiday. We had an Ondol style room with the heated floors and sleeping mats which were a little hard at first but we quickly got used to them and managed to sleep well. The room was like a studio apartment with sleeping upstairs, and the lounge, kitchenette and bathroom downstairs. There was a balcony and pleasant district views towards Birch Hill condominium. The hotel has a plaza at the ground floor with a selection of shops including a supermarket with a wide range of food, drink and other supplies; Angel-in-us coffee shop; restaurants and other assorted shops and a large games area including 10 pin bowling, bililards etc etc. An intermediate level ski lift loads near the door, or there is a short walk to beginners slopes. Next door is Peak Hill Aquatic Centre where we went for an afternoon swimming and sauna - the water slides are great! We travelled to and from the resort by coach from Seoul for 16, 000 Won pp each way,

Basic room but excellent location within the resort

We are a family of 4, with 2 primary school kids We took up a 4d3n ski cum sightseeing package offered by Winterfriend.com, and stayed at Tower Condo for 3 nights in mid-dec 13. Pros: -Excellent location : --It is just a 1-min walk to the ski area. --There's a convenient store located at the basement. Range of things sold are quite complete, though not cheap. --Many eateries, ranging from pizza to burgers to korean food, located at the basement. We especially enjoyed the piping hot food at the korean eatery. The eateries closed quite early though, at around 9pm. -Room comes with heated floor. It is also equipped with basic kitchen facilities and utensils like the fridge, rice cooker, sink, electric stove, crockery and cutlery. -Room is quite spacious, compared to Seoul standard. -Rooms are reasonably clean and bright. Cons: -There is no daily housekeeping unless requested and charged - it's priced at 30, 000 won per service if I remembered correctly. -There are only 2 single beds in the room. To sleep 4, 2 additional mattresses would be provided. It's not very thick so for those who are used to sleeping on beds, it may take a while to get used to. -Pillows are uncomfortable - they are flat and smaller than usual. -Bed is too hard for comfort. -No toiletries provided, so bring your own. -Only small bath towels are provided, but I find it sufficiently big to dry the body. -Wifi only at the lobby, no wifi in the room. But we could receive some stable wifi signals when we were near the window in the room. We scouted around the resort during our stay and found that beside Tower Condo, Dragon Valley Hotel was almost as near to the ski slope. Greenpia Condo was however, a bit further away from the ski slope. Overall, I may still choose Tower Condo for my next trip for its good location and price.

A very clean and spacious hotel with cooking facilities and ondol room

My family and I stayed at Tower Condo in Dec 2011. The room is very spacious and there are cooking facilities in the room. The ondol floor provides us warmth in the extremely cold weather below freezing point. During our stay, the temp ranged from -5 to -10 degrees celcius. We enjoyed skiing ther and taking lots of pictures of places shrouded with thick snows.... It is very convenience as there are Lotte Fast food restaurant, Pizza Restaran, Korean Restaurant and Family Mart. Outside the hotel is a ski resort. Dragon Peak is just 5 min walk where you can take cable car to the Peak of the mountain where you will have a memorable sights of the snowscape. A trip to Seoul must not miss the stay at Tower Condo!! By the way, travelling to this hotel is very easy, just take a Daewoo purple bus from Lotte Mart at Jamsil Station and the return fares cost 28000 wons. It is about 2 hours journey. The bus leaves at 9am so you are staying at Seoul, please book the hotel near Jamsil Station...

Great place to ski!

My family of 7 stayed here from 11 December till 15 December, mainly for skiing and snowboarding. Initially the place looked a bit chaotic with many skiers from the schools but we got the hang of things after a while and managed to book lessons and rent gear. Only complaint is we have to return and hire each day as we were not allowed to keep the gear overnight. Would have been better if they allowed a period of hire instead. The ski slopes and ski lifts were great and both experienced and novice skiers would have no complaints about the various slopes. What was great was we were able to do night ski to ten and at night there were less crowds. We chose the ondol styles at the greenpia condominium. The rooms were big and spacious but we had some trouble getting towels as they don't supply like hotels but they relented and we managed to finally get our hand on towels. We could cook at the condo so that was a plus point but they do not clean up everyday so you have to do some washing up.. there are quite a few eateries and two small snack stores selling hotdogs and churros but they close rather early... there is a nice coffee joint overseeing the ski slopes where we spent most of our time relaxing..... there is a water theme park called Peak Island but not worth going as the waters are rather cold and rather small, we only enjoy the saunas in the bathroom.

Budget travel

Early 2012 - we rented a suite which can sleep about 5-7 persons. Bathroom is quite bare, but overall it is relatively clean. As with most Korean ski resorts, one of our 2 bed rooms is an ondol room -- which means you have to sleep on the floor. That isn't too pleasant for those of us who're used to soft western beds. But that is far too common in Korea so I can't really complain.

2014-10-18 16:32:08

Moderate accommodation in great setting

Stayed here for a week attending a conference at Alpensia Conference Centre 2km away. Rooms are large, showers hot and clean, beds comfortable but no room service, no large towels and air con difficult to control. The room was generally a bit tired and could have done with a refit. Supermarket below the hotel sells range of food and other essentials, plus pizza restaruant when Korean food palls. Yongpyong itself is an attractive resort which looked very inviting in the autumn colours.

2013-01-02 23:34:11

Good service and nice rooms

The room is consider big in term of korean standard - it comes with a small kitchen. The bed is very comfortable and the floor is heated. The room comes with 3 cupboard so it is very convenient if you are travelling in a group. The bathroom is small but very clean, the water pressure is good and the water hot. You will welcome these basic facilities after a long day of skiing in -15 C condition. The best thing is it comes with free wi-fi and it is accessible even in the room although they said it works in the lobby only.

2014-03-01 22:57:53

clean and simple room

stayed there for 2 nights to do some skiing. read some reviews about other accommodation towers nearby but they were either very old or expensive, so I decided to stay in Tower condo. I had a room located near the lobby hence there was minimal wi-fi but no view of the slopes because it was 2nd floor. I had an ondol room hence also it had a large open area for bedsheets. Not sure how to call room service because all the instructions are in Korean. the counter staff speak minimal English but enough to get by so we didn't ask further. the room had a small kitchen with basic pans and utensils for cooking. You can get ingredients from the supermarket nearby to cook. Bathroom was small but clean, the towels were small ones too. Lastly, the heater system seems to be v powerful and we tried to turn it v low yet it was still v warm. hence, we decided to open the balcony door and let the cool air in. it was really nice to feel it coming into our warm room. Overall, a simple and clean room to stay while you enjoying skiing at Yong pyong

2013-03-04 09:46:41

Simple rooms

PROS: Heated floors, Good kitchen, average bathroom, close to ski lifts, size of rooms were good Rooms were sound proof. CONS: No western beds, No dry room for snow gear, rooms are old I'd bring your own pillow!!

2013-11-05 04:24:17

Tour pakage booked

Very big apartment Kitchen with hob for cooking Living room with sofa, tv, warmer, tea table, dining table. Even the floor tempereture can be adjusted to keep warm during winter. Room with bed. Gotta remove quilt and bedsheet to sleep on floor like a traditional korean home. Bathroom was okay except that the wc is toooooo small equipped with self washing mechanisms, control which is so bulky on the right side that you will sit on it. Buttons are all in korean language that makes us wonder how to operate that self wash service as our country doesnt use these. Magnificent view from our room side, with gondola view and houses built within the forested mountain. Fresh air. With gs25 mart at the basement which sells pretty much things needed. From rice, shampoo, tit bits, ice cream, instant noodle, to t shirt. Its unusually bigger than the gs25 store in the street. Over all satisfaction was great.

2014-12-07 07:55:07

Greenpia Type 38

Greenpia fairly near to d ski slope just across d carpark. Very spacious rooms. Clean & well-heated floor. Hot water bath. Fully-equipped kitchen with fridge, rice cooker, microwave, kettle, utensils enough for 6 people. 6 small bath towels. D only toiletries provided r 2 mini bar soap n 2 toilet rolls & 1 small box tissue. No daily housekeeping. Greenpia Type 38 has either both rooms Ondol Style or one rm with Queen bed n d other rm Ondol Style. One rm has a bathtub but no electronic bidet installed. D other bedrm is Ondol style has only shower place but with electronic bidet installed. We chose a rm facing d mountain as rm facing d Ski slope u hv pay addn 10, 000won per night. Front desk staff only speak Korean language. Communication is a great challenge. All electrical appliances' operating instructions r in Korean languages too. Suggest guests to install Google translator app & download its offline Korean language to avoid communications hiccups. There's a GS25 mart at basement. There is also a restaurant.

2012-12-13 19:33:26

Yong pyong Greenpia

If you are planning to ski at Yong pyong, be aware that all ski activities center around Dragon Plaza. So you won't want to be too far from it. Greenpia's facilities are relatively new and clean. The slope facing rooms offer a good view of the main slopes. The bus from Incheon airport stops at Tower Plaza. If you have heavy luggage, it can be quite daunting to get them from Tower Plaza to Greenpia. Other than that, I think Greenpia is a great place to stay at. There's a convenient store at the lobby area and a Citibank ATM as well.

2015-03-19 05:09:28

Simple and nice apartment

Stayed on the first level and the floors are heated during winter. Our balcony has a good view of facing the ski slopes. The room was ondol style and personally felt that it was quite a fresh and good experience as we could have a feel of how Koreans usually sleep. Beware that as the floor is heated, our things in the luggage placed on the bedroom floor was easily heated too. There's this pizza and korean fried chicken leaflet in the lift where we can place orders for supper and delivery was quite fast. The pizzas was yummy! The stove in our kitchen was spoil and we couldn't boil water and took a short walk about 5mins to the mini mart located at the main lobby of the hotel. Do note that they do charge 100won for a plastic bag in the mini mart.

2014-01-03 00:07:41

Appalling mattresses and pillows

Tower Condo is an apartment type accommodation conveniently located next to the slopes. The ski centre which is called Dragon Plaza is a 2 minute walk. Wifi is only available in the lobby which was an issue for us. Our room was clean. The bathroom and kitchenette were adequate although the towels were the size of hand towels which we didn't like at all. We don't mind sleeping on the floor. However, the mattresses in the room were about 2cm thick (very unlike the traditional Korean mattresses which are about 20cm thick). They were very uncomfortable as were the pillows. All in all, we didn't think Tower Condo was good value for money and will not be returning.

2014-12-19 13:06:06

Nice place to rest yr aching legs after yr ski sessions

Background: We booked this resort online and had arranged transport to ferry us from myeong dong station. The driver did not check exactly where our resort was and instruct us to alight at alpensia resort (inside yongpyong) instead. Then after realising that we are supposed to be in greenpia, he drop us off at Tower plaza instead. Then we have to lug our luggage from tower plaza to dragon plaza then to greenpia! That was horrendous! Ok on to the actual review of greenpia. Pros: Near ski area. (Just cut thru the car park in front of the building and that's it!) Spacious rooms Decent restaurant serving traditional Korean food on the 2nd flr. They provide discount vouchers for ski rentals (30% off) Cons: Extra 60k won per apartment if u want the ski slope view. (Actually the other side's view is not bad too) save yr $$$. My transport arrangements was bad. Had to get Greenpia staff to arrange for shuttle bus to bring us to taper plaza when we checked out. The staff dun understand English This is a condo, not hotel. Do not expect good house keeping service.

2014-01-13 10:16:13

Clean and simple

We booked an ondol room for 2 nights during our ski trip at Yong pyong. Room was clean and simple with open style kitchen for cooking but do take note that it is the same common area where sheets are laid for sleeping. There wasn't any room service, maybe because we didn't know how to request for it as most instructions are in Korean. The reception staff was also not very fluent in English but we managed to communicate with short phrases. As we stayed on the second floor, there was no view of the slopes outside at the balcony. But the good thing was that we were near reception where there is Wi-fi, hence we managed to get some internet time in our room. The heater system seems to generate alot of heat even tho I was trying to turn it down quickly. In the end, I just opened the balcony door to allow cool air in to cool down our room. Yeah. There are shops at the lower floor such as supermarket, arcade and bowling. Near to ski slopes and also the ski bus drop off area.

2015-03-24 08:56:10

Like living at home

Staying here is so comfortable and easy as staying at home. The room is big for 5 people staying together, equipped with kitchen, big refrigerator, rice cooker and large bathroom. We stay on high floor, can see the slopes clearly. Reception is friendly and busy. Restaurants and grocery stores are available downstairs. Easy access to slopes and ticket center for ski equipment and lift rentals.

Extremely spacious service apartment for 4

Very clean, comfortable, well-warmed up apartment. We loved sleeping on the floor and with the kitchen, bathrooms and living area, it had all basic amenities. One of the best hotels i have stayed in Seoul. Needless to say, the ski experience was wonderful too.

Basic, but covers all the bases

Booked a tower room for 3 people but got upgraded to one of the villas out the back which had a separate bedroom. Beds are ondol style - they are hard compared to western beds, but it added to the cultural experience! Good kitchen facilities if you want to cook. Free wifi in the lobby. Staff at the desk have limited English but you can get by. Hotel is in a good location. The resort is small if you're used to European resorts, but the lack of crowds and queues makes up for it. Not much in the way of shops, restaurants etc. Skiing lessons with an english speaking instructor were crazy expensive - many, many times more expensive than those in Korean and way more than you'd expect to pay at an Australian or European resort. Getting to the resort is a bit tricky as there aren't lots of bus services (well not that I could find anyway). We arrived at Incheon airport and got a bus direct from there but from memory there's only one or two a day. You HAVE to pre-book quite a few days in advance. Hiring of ski equipment is a bid odd as you don't get to keep it overnight - you have to go back each day which can be annoying as you're getting different boots each day. Lift passes have to be bought each day too, you can't buy weekly passes etc.

Great Location

This hotel is suitable for a group of people, who would like to go for SKI Sport @Korea. I'm pretty happy with stay in this hotel except internet. The internet WIFI is very tribble. You can't get the signal for sometimes in room. In lobby, the connection is unstable.

Good Accomodation

The condominiums are very big each with two huge bedrooms and an even larger living room, complete with living facilities. In fact each condominium units can comfortably accomodate 10 occupants. Full set cooking facilities are also available. The room I stayed in mid winter offers a breathtaking view of the ski slopes. Breakfast spread is excellent. Strongly recommended.

Great but kinda old

i arranged for a day ski trip to Yongpyong because of its reputation as the best ski resort in South Korea. It was also just 2.5 hours away from the city which was very convenient even if we were just taking the ski coach to the resort. I come from a tropical country with zero winter and snow experience and I was extremely excited to see this place. Our prayers for a snow day did not disappoint. Half an our away and the beautiful snowflakes were already making an appearance. We entered through the Tower Condo and got ready to ski. I must say that this sport really isn't for me but the slopes were quite impressive. There's a slope for everyone and many families and athletes shared the warm and sunny snow day with us. After quitting on my skis, we had lunch at the Lotteria in the ground floor of the hotel and took the gondola up to Dragon Peak which was 1, 500 meters above sea level. It was nothing short of beautiful. You can the snow covered mountains surrounding the resort and the breathtaking view totally made up for my lack of ski skills. Though the hotel facilities seemed quite old and dated, they are doing such a great job maintaining the ski facilities.
