weird menu compared to most Thai restaurants
Siam Elephant Thai is a pretty good Thai, and has a pretty interesting menu compared to most Thai restaurants. The food is pretty good and nice atmosphere.

Local and Delicious
Great place to eat for local Thai food. Comfortable, casual atmosphere. Food was delicious and not overly spicy. We ordered pineapple fried rice, pad see ew, and eggplant thai basil - all delicately cooked and tasted amazing! Highly worth trying this place out.
Skip this mediocre overpriced place
Overpriced mediocre food. Panang curry didn't have peanut flavour, at all, just coconut milk. Small portion. Siamese duck was way too salty. Thai tea is $6.50!!! Seriously? Not sure if people who give this place 5 star have ever been to Thailand, or even tried good authentic Thai food, because the place was way below average and, ironically, the most expensive meal we had in Carp (we pretty much tried all the restaurants there).. Charming and delightful
First impression that truly paid off. The restaurant has beautiful ambiance and is impeccably clean. The staff was polite and prompt. Food was delivered in a perfectly timed way and was absolutely delicious! Recommend the any of the Specialty Combos it is an amazing deal!
Just ok
Nice outdoor area, friendly service (though slow on refilling waters) but the food was just ok. The flavors were good but very bland. We asked for " very spicy, Thai spicy " but unfortunately our pad kra pow wasn't spicy at all.

We were happy to find something open at 8:30 after being turned away from other restaurants due to " almost " closing time. The service was just wonderful and the food was pretty good as well.
Good, but not amazing
We ate here with our 10-year-old daughter on vacation, and we really enjoyed it, but I don't think it necessarily lived up to the five star reviews. The restaurant looks very tiny on the outside, but has ample indoor and outdoor seating. All of the food was surprisingly tasty, but the pad Thai and the Tom Kha soup was a little bit overly sweet. My daughter is kind of picky, but she loved the chicken chow mein.
Family lunch
We were in Carpinteria for a family outing and went to our favorite restaurant for lunch. It was packed and the wait time was long so we decided to try someplace new. A block or so down was this restaurant so we decided to give it a try. We got right in and seated in very comfortable outdoor seating. The food and service were outstanding. The portions were good size and we all enjoyed our meal. We are glad we tried it and we now have another great restaurant to enjoy a meal.

My friend and I both ordered pad Thai with chicken. It was very good, but pad Thai is pretty basic. I would definitely go back and try other dishes. The food was hot and delicious.

Outstanding Thai Food
The food here is out of this world. The panang curry, prik king, pad Thai, and pretty much the whole menu are all amazing. Get it spicy 3. Don't be a sissy.

Carryout red chicken curry and gyoza was fresh and yummy. Ordered and picked up due to COVID precautions. Food was ready within 20 minutes and hit the spot.
Great Restaurant, Great Staff
This is one of the best places to eat in Carpinteria. The food is very good and the staff is so friendly. Seating is pretty limited but the do offer more seating outdoors, weather permitting. Our favorite things on the menu are the fresh rolls with shrimp and Tom Ka. If you're in Carpinteria eat here! You won't regret it.
Just fine- right near the beach
Popped in on our walk back from the beach to our hotel room. No nonsense but attractive decor, kind waitress, a chardonnay for each of us (I like fuller partner likes lighter). Partner loved pineapple rice and the pad thai was just fine for me- smallish serving for this American used to ridiculously big portions, but plenty for me since my buddy had to help me finish. Overall just fine, nice spot for a rest and light dinner.

The food is tasty and the service is nice. It's not the best Thai food I've had, but it's certainly not the worst.
A Carp favorite
Living in Carp, I am grateful for any restaurant that serves something other than breakfast, pizza or Mexican. However, Siam Elephant is not only one of my favorite restaurants in town, it is one of my favorite Thai restaurants anywhere. The fresh rolls are the best around, and I have eaten at a lot of Thai places. The pumpkin curry is also on the top of my list. Service is always consistently excellent, which is one of my pet peeves of other restaurants in Carp.

Delicious steak and awesome Thai for area
This is more decent than the places in SB. We love the crying tiger. Not sure I like they charge for rice. It is annoying because you can't eat Thai without rice. Kids meals are tasty. I had no problem getting my kids to eat. We love the crying tiger and sauce.
It's a winner; good original Thai food delivered with great service in a relaxed ambiance, excellent location for dinner
This was my second visit after having initially visited a number of years ago. I think it's an excellent option for meeting with freinds and have a good, original, yummy and relaxed meal. It is rather small and is very popular so, making a reservation is highly recommended for peak hours. The weather was great so we sat outside this time and experienced excellent service throughout. We shared a starter and then shared one of the large soups which was a first for me and a fab recommendable experience. A shame there is not a mixed started of finger food. As a main course I had the Pad Thai which is always a winner although at that stage my eyes were bigger than my stomach so I took the rest home and enjoyed it at another moment (BTW if you're from abroad take note that the boxes you are given to put left overs are the typical ones you always see in American movies). The Thai iced tea was good. It's wonderfully located for if you've spent the day on the beach and in fact we had a very early dinner at 6pm but it was already buzzing. All the food our groups had was great and I felt reasonably priced.

Authentic, Thai Cuisine... very good, Can also eat on patio, pet friendly. Have taken friends and family there numerous times, NEVER DISAPPOINTED!! Lunch specials during the week; some evening specials; beer and wine licensed only!!
Nice local Thai food
This place is well known in Carpinteria and it deserves to be. We were on the run so we had a couple of set meals. Nicely prepared and generous portions, all in all good Thai food. Would like to go back and try some more dishes, but first time was well worthwhile.
Great Thai
I was driving my parents up to the Bay Area and decided to stop by for lunch with no previous knowledge of this place. Amazingly, it was one of the best Thai restaurants I've been to. Presentation and flavor of the dishes were awesome. Great customer service as well
Good Thai by the beach
We were visiting Carpenteria and came here for dinner. It is a cute restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside which was comfortable since the weather was nice. We ordered the special combinations which include a soup or salad, appetizers, and entrée for $15.50 each so it is a good deal. My favorite part of the meal was the Chicken Tom Kha soup. It was mildly spicy. I am normally very sensitive to spicy foods but this soup was perfect for me. I love the blend of lemongrass and coconut milk. The appetizers consisted on one shrimp roll, spring roll, and a wonton skin - all fried. None of us liked the wonton skin. It was oily and bland. The other two were okay. I ordered the Pra Ram with beef and that was just okay. The sauce was watery and a little on the bland side. The beef was also a little bland. The rest of my family ordered Pad Thai and Pra Ram with chicken which they really enjoyed. Service was very good. The food was served very fast. The location of the restaurant is close to the beach so it was wonderful to be able to walk to the beach for an after dinner stroll
Good
Staff was pleasant and service was quick. Wonton Soup was tasty altho the wontons seemed a bit under cooked. I had the red curry which was tasty but I would have preferred a few more vegetables, there was tons of chicken (which is great) but it would have been better balanced with more veggies. Thai iced tea was very good. I've had better Thai food but this was pretty decent and I'd go back and try something different.

Yet another great Carpinteria restaurant
It's hard to not notice The Siam Elephant Thai restaurant when walking the strip from the shops to the beach in Carpinteria. We finally gave it a try for lunch and it was wonderful! We loved the wooden " house-like " eating areas outside! Super cool and unique! The staff was very friendly and on top of it! The food was excellent! We had the lunch specials so it was very reasonably priced! No complaints here! Only good things!
Always good food
The staff is super friendly and the food is consistently good. I especially love their Tom Kha. So glad the one Thai restaurant in Carpinteria is a gem!!
Taste of Thailand
My family was camping out at the State Beach and I was not in the mood for the lunch meal so I asked one of my nieces husbands who likes good Thai food to join me. I had seen the restaurant the evening before so I knew that was where I would be having lunch. I greeted our waiter in Thai and thanked him for seating us so quickly. We did discuss the food and if it was possible to get it real Thai style not the American version. To my surprise it was possible they have not had many requests for the food to be seasoned to Thai tastes before, I explained that I had been in Thailand many times and enjoyed their foods heat level and spice levels. He did tell me that it was the wrong season to get Thai basil and they had to use sweet basil for one of our dishes. It was the closest thing to eating in Bangkok that I have experienced in LA and Las Vegas. I joking told the individual they needed to open a place here in Las Vegas so I could have good authentic Thai dishes. A must dine location in Carpinteria.

O Melhor Thai do Condado de santa Barbara CA e regiao

Yummy food, great specials, fabulous servers
While I have had better Thai food, this was very good and a treat to visit. My mom lives in this town and she was glad we found this place so she could take visitors here if they want Asian food. The place was attractive, the place settings were very nice, and the dining selections were extensive. My favorite dish, praram, (peanut sauce with chicken over spinach) was good but not as great as I was hoping it would be. However, it was tasty and my husband enjoyed his sweet and sour dinner.

Oiur favorite dinner place in Carpinteria
The wife and I usually eat dinner here at least once when we are in Carpinteria. The food is very good and the prices are very fair. You can sit inside or out. If the weather is nice sit outside on the patio. The patio is very enjoyable.

Worth the wait
We have visited Carpenteria many times over the past ten years and always noticed that this restaurant was busy but we never ate there. Big mistake! It is really good. Very comfortable, good service and excellent food. Nice selection of appetizers, reasonably priced wines, and well prepared main courses. Will definitely make it a must do on future trips.

Especially love their Spring Rolls, their Asparagus salad, their Garlic Pepper Shrimp, Delicious! Great service, small little area, headed towards the beach, great fun towards the end of the month, when they have local concerts happening close by, or movies on the park lawn during the summer.
Good Thai food
People is very kind and food is amazing. A little bit spicy but very good. We have already eaten here 3 times because we really like it. Dishes are big but you can take food at home later.
Absolutely a must try this
If you are hungry, have the pineapple fried rice. It is incredible! For lunch, they have a separate lunch menu which included a meal and soup or salad.
Nice place with good food
Went to lunch here with some friends. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I have some dietary issues and they were very accommodating and helpful.
Dinner
Friendly service and excellent Thai food. It was great for dinner on a cold evening. We ordered combination dinners, one with Pad Thai and the other with Panang Curry. Both came with a cup of soup (Tom Kan-yum!), spring roll and one fried shrimp. We will definitely visit here again.
Excellent
Rode our bikes over from nearby campground to this delicious Thai spot. Service was excellent from warm greeting through end of meal. Tried the duck cur, which I've never had before. The spice and richness of the curry brought out the smokiness of the duck. Excellent dish. Hubs had panang curry which was good too.
Best Thai food
We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and hot fresh food. The pumpkin curry chicken was awesome, chicken pad Thai, spicy shrimp fried rice was really delicious. We will definitely visit again. You have to visit !

We absolutely love this restaurant! They greet you with smile as you are being seated which always makes your meal that much better!! I order the yellow curry which is delicious!! My favourite waiter is Mitch..... superb service always!!

Thai Food While Camping!!
We were camping at the state beach, across the street from this restaurant. We had walked by and thought it looked yummy, but it was crowded and we were pretty post beach grubby. So, we decided to order take out and bring it back to camp for dinner one night. It was delicious and felt fairly decadent for a campsite meal. Plus clean up was a breeze! I will definitely eat hear again if back in Carpinteria.

The service is excellent and the food is really good. Dining indoors or out, you'll find the staff attentive and pleasant. The food is genuine Thai and very good.
Great service and food
We craved Thai food and tried SIAM for dinner. The sweet n sour chicken and Pad Thai noodles were fresh and delicious. Small confusion on order was fixed immediately!
Enjoyable Experience
Siam has a great dining atmosphere with indoor or outdoor dining. Definitely choose outdoor to sit in the Pagoda overlooking the main street action. The food is good and they offer the local beer that is brewed just down the street. Worth a visit.

Pad Thai is amazing! Love the Thai iced tea. Good size portions at a reasonable cost! Street parking or a little lot nearby make it easy to get to.
Have the meal deal
Went here because of the reviews on trip advisor. Was expecting it to cost more than it did as some has suggested it was quite expensive, you ought to eat in the UK, this place was cheap and represented good value in our opinion. I have the meal deal and my wife just a curry. The restaurant is tiny but that adds to the quaintness of the experience. Service was good and the portions fine and piping hot. The only criticism I would offer is my rice was slightly overcooked.
Authentic, great Thai restaurant!
Excellent Thai food with a local, friendly family atmosphere. Outdoor patio, Popular with tourists and locals. Just a short walk down to the beach or inland to visit shops along the main commercial street.
Great Flavors A Short Walk From the Beach
I love Thai cuisine and was drawn here by all the great reviews here on TA. The restaurant did not disappoint. It's a short walk from the beach so you can either come up here after a day on the sand or take an after dinner stroll to the beach. They have a lovely little patio outside which is where I was seated. Being solo, I probably should have gone with one of their combos but I opted to start with the Fresh Rolls which are rice paper wrapped with rice, fresh vegetables and shrimp. The rolls and the accompanying sauce and vinegar dip were awesome. I then went with the Roast Duck Curry. Outstanding curry and mixture of vegetables and pineapple slices. I loved the presentation as well with the curry presented on top of a warming container and the rice in the shape of a heart. All in all, a great experience and this should be a welcome meal for anyone who loves Thai cuisine. They do have takeout as well.
Very, very good!
Following the recommendations and our love of Thai food took us to this excellent establishment. We ordered the shrimp salad tools, a papaya salad, a green curry and sticky coconut rice, all were done perfectly and presented well. Thinking we were done and having a lighter dinner, it was suggested to try the French mango and sticky rice for desert, wow, are we glad we did. Well worth a visit, we'll be back!

Selten so gut gegessen
Wir waren auf Empfehlung im SIAM Elephant und haben es nicht bereut, ja wir sind am nächsten Tag sogar noch einmal hingegangen. Direkt an der Strasse, die vom Highway 1 nach Carpinteria abgeht und am Weg zur Beach gelegen ist das kleine Lokal recht einfach zu finden. Vor dem Eingang stehen Holzelefanten und im Garten zwei kleine thailändische Gartenhäuschen, in denen man - gut überdacht - draussen sitzen kann. Der Service war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend ohne aufdringlich zu sein und die Gerichte - alles was wir an diesen 2 Tagen hatten - war einfach hervorragend. Dazu kommt ein sehr gutes Preis / Leistungsverhältnis. Dieses Restaurant kann ich wirklich ohne Abstriche nur empfehlen

Great find
This was place is great. Kept the place open even though they were going to close in 15minutes. The food is awesome cooked made to order if you don't want a particular thing that's just fine.. they make it so fast is insane. The owner I believe is very wonderful his new here from Bangkok. He took the time to tell us about about the little houses they have in the patio area. So happy that we stumbled upon this gem.
Best Kept Secret for Thai Food in the Santa Barbara Area
Siam Elephant offers an array of fresh Thai dishes and is one of our favorite stops in the Santa Barbara area. The service is consistent and very friendly and the location is hard to beat (you are a stone's throw from the beach). Reasonably priced and overall a great value.
Good honest Thai food!
We had a delightful dinner at this restaurant. The meal was flavourfull and was served in a prompt and professional manner. When visiting Carpinteria again, we would be happy to eat here.

Thai becomes Chinese in Carpinteria
It's okay, but whoever said it was the best Thai food in the States and as good as Thailand itself is either doing PR for them or eats at KFC in Thailand. To begin with, it's overpriced and secondly it is so toned down for the steak & potatoes carpinteria palate that it's like eating Chinese side-dishes. It's a shame and very consistent with many Thai restaurants in the U. S.
Food is way too salty
Staff were very friendly and the service was good. Unfortunately the food was way too salty and I felt sick afterwards. I could have brought it up when we were eating but they were very busy so I thought I'd save the trouble.

First authentic Thai food we've had in the USA! Get the Thai ice tea and 8 dollar lunch menu, great menu and excellent value for money, highly recommend.
The best Thai restaurant!!
I have been to this restaurant several times when I am in town. Sometimes, I will make my way from LA or San Diego just to stop by the beach and Thai food. I'm Thai and it's hard to find a good Thai restaurant to my standard. The quality of food is higher than many Thai restaurants I've been to. My favorite dish is Seafood Spicy fried Noodle! I enjoy New Zealand Mussels, shrimps and they throw crab claws in this dish. It's fancy and delicious! Staff always work so hard to get customers in and out quickly. Friday and Saturday are always packed. The service is fast and excellent. I highly recommend Siam Elephant and it always is my favorite Thai restaurant.
Delicious Thai Food (Did Take Out)
We were coming into town late and were craving Thai food, but didn't want to sit in, so we got it to go. It took about 20 minutes. The food was very good. My husband loves his food spicy and that is exactly what he got with the Tofu and Green Beans. I had the chicken and vegetables with medium spice and it was perfect. Also had the fresh rolls (a little too much licorce flavor for my taste), we well as the brown rice. All of it was quite tasty and we would recommend the restaurant.
Another Restaurant Disappointment in Carpinteria
After having a terrible dinner the evening prior at " Pane e Vino, " I suggested to my husband that we go to " SIAM Elephant Thai Restaurant, " based on reviews I'd seen on TripAdvisor. Two for Two: food lacked flavor and was salty. This was the first bad Thai meal I have ever had and I have had many; I don't know how you can mess up Thai dishes when you start out with such flavorful ingredients. To make matters worse, my husband felt sick from the dinner the rest of the evening.
Thai food
I loved the atmosphere and decorations. A very comfortable place and the servers were so nice and did an excellent job. The food was very good. The only comment my family made is that they couldn't have used a little more spice. For me that was fine too much garlic and spice bothers my stomach.
A gem. Good food, good service
We wanted a quiet place and a tasty Thai meal. The ambience is informal; the food and the service were excellent. Ordered Tom Yum soup, avocado & asparagus salad, and a pork, green bean & carrot dish. The salad was outstanding, soup excellent. The pork dish was tasty though the green beans were so-so. Prices are reasonable. I will definitely return when in town.
Best Thai in Santa Barbara County
I have been going on vacation in Carpinteria for a long time and had never visited this restaurant. We were at the end of our vacation and decided to give Siam a try. My wife and I and our 2 sons and visiting friends walked into a place that took us back to our trip to Thailand. The décor was very cool and the smells delicious. The staff sat us down and they were some of the nicest people we had ever experienced at any level restaurant. We ordered a variety of dishes to share and we weren't disappointed. The food was delicious and the pricing excellent! I am just sorry it took me so long to visit this wonderful restaurant staffed by great people.

Okay Thai food
I'm a bit biased since I'm accustomed to good authentic Thai food in Los Angeles. But for a small town restaurant, its pretty good. One of the better thai places in SB / Carp, but again, it does not compare to some of the places in LA. But since most people will not be willing to drive 2 hours to get Thai food, this is will have to do. I recommend the place for locals or regular Thai food eaters, but if you're a tourist and this will be the first time you will ever try thai food... I may hold off. Wait until you get the good stuff. Do you want your first hamburger to be from mcdonalds or from an in and out?
Always good Thai Food!
We always stop here for dinner while on vacation in Carpinteria. I love their pumpkin curry and my husband loves the duck curry. My mom is a huge fan of their seafood Pad Thai. Easy to recommend for a tasty Thai meal.
The most friendly staff i've ever seen
We've been to Siam Elephant restaurant with my husband while staying one night in Carpinteria. We needed some place to eat and it was already past 8pm. So we asked hotel host about thai or chinese place to eat and were pointed to this restaurant. We went there and it has been a very pleasant experience! First of all, the staff there is extremely friendly. Extremely - and it is not an exaggeration. We have picked vegetarian dishes from the menu, and " Paul " helped us to pick what is really vegetarian - for my husband, and vegan - for me. Then.. we were served our food within probably 5-7 minutes.. the quickest service ever. Food was good and veggies were not overcooked (as you can expect in the south). So overall, everything was tasty. More chinese though, but it didn't make any difference for us. And i have to mention one thing: my husband ordered a mango smoothie. It was PERFECT. I have no idea how they made it and what they've put in it.. but it was literally heavenly. He ordered the second one and i had to order one for myself as he didn't want to share. Funny thing: when i tried my mango smoothie, i rolled my eyes up in a sign of complete happiness.. well, both girls - hostess and the one from the kitchen who actually made smoothie - jumped to me asking if anything was wrong with my drink.. They thought i didn't like it! So i had to say that was the best i've ever had! (which was true). And one more thing.. we were the last people to leave the restaurant.. probably just little bit later than their closing time.. and nobody gave us any signs like " guys, why don't you GO now.. ".. we were v. ery comfortable there So, good food, extremely nice and friendly people, perfect mango smoothie.. reasonable prices.. I would definitely come back there if i lived nearby and not across the continent..
