About Parsonage Stables
Parsonage Stables are situated in the picturesque village of Henham in North West Essex. The nineteenth century stables have been lovingly restored into four holiday cottages offering modern facilities in a traditional setting. The stables are in the front yard of our working arable farm which is in the heart of the village, next to the church and almost opposite the pub.

Heavenly cottages
Fabulous cottages in a superb location. They have everything you need and are a modern design, comfortable and spacious. Near to lots of great walks, there's a village shop a short walk away, a pub opposite and gym adjacent - it's a lovely situation. We were in a bind due to issues with our house purchase and sale linking up. Jo was incredibly helpful and we ended up staying for over a month.
Very Friendly
Our accommodation The Punch had everything you would ever need. Large open plan living area. I very large bedroom and one full bathroom. Very clean. Very friendly owner Jo. We arrived late night and although the owner had left a key for us to get in, she still came over and made sure we were happy. She brought milk and one of the best lemon drizzle cake I have ever tasted. Nice quiet village. Henham is a typical English village with a pub and village shop. On the site there is a micro brewery. Lovely church with the bells every hour. Not intrusive. Can't find anything negative. Great stay.
Couldn't have been more ideal for our family
We stayed with Jo and James for almost a month in the Tack Room whilst visiting from Australia. Our family live in nearby Bishops Stortford and we found being based in Henham gave us the country relaxation and freedom for the children whilst still only a 15 minute drive to Bishops Stortford. The accommodation itself was clean, well equipped and ideal for a toddler and 5 year old. Safely fenced back from the farm traffic but with lots of opportunities for them to play freely and to watch and learn about farm life. Jo and James were welcoming hosts who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The location proved a great base for touring locally. We visited Audley End, Hatfield Forest, Stansted Mountfitchet Castle and Windmill, Cambridge and even drove into London with ease simply due to the close proximity to the M11. The Cock Inn just across the road served wonderful meals and the churches bell ringers provided lovely early evening sounds. The village of Henham is also a wonderful example of an Essex village with sweet little thatched cottages, a duck pond and little village store. I can say without a doubt we will return again to stay the next time we make the journey to see our family and have already recommended the accom to other family and friends!
Nice peaceful place to stay
The Clydesdale (one of four units available) worked perfectly for our family group of four with 1 bathroom, 2 bedrooms (1 full and 2 twins), big living area and kitchen. The location was perfect to attend the Duxford Air Show and do some other touring. Everything looks new and the design and decorating was well done. There's a church just behind the 4 self catering cottages and a pub just across the way. It's 10 minutes to Stansted airport where you can catch the Stansted Express into London Liverpool street every 15 minutes. The host has been so gracious. I highly recommend it!
Outstanding country stay
Our family stayed at Parsonage Stables twice already. Both modern apartments were wonderfully maintained with high end finishes and comforts of home. The grounds were great places to explore with our two young children who have never lived in the country. There is an old church behind the stables surrounded by a beautiful garden. Our boys loved playing table tennis, checking out the cows, chickens and horses and eating raspberries right from the bushes. Besides the accommodations, Joanna is the real reason to book your stay. As soon as we met her she seemed like a friend of many years. She is so energetic and inviting. Country stays are relaxing, but they sure don't have to be boring. Sometimes I think I might like to move to the stables for good, but for now we have our trip already booked for next year.
Wonderful farm holidays - right in the middle of beautiful Henham
Parsonage Stables are located in the heart of beautiful Henham, 2 minutes foot-walk to the pub and 5 minutes foot-walk to the village shop. 10 minutes by car to Elsenham station. A very quiet area, highly recommended for families with children. A neat accomodation equipped with everything you need for a perfect holiday. Very friendly and helpful owners on the site. Highly recommended!!!
Fantastic from the moment we arrived
Parsonage Stables are located on a working farm in a very picturesque part of England in the county of Essex. The accommodation in the converted stables is new, has been built to a very high standard, is really comfortable, and has all the mod cons you could possibly ask for. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived and nothing was too much trouble for our hostess Joanna. We stayed in the " Clydesdale " Stable for nine nights and it was a bit like being home away from home. We spent six months touring Europe and reckon our stay at Parsonage Stables was the most comfortable of our trip. We would like to visit the UK again sometime and if we do, we will most definitely be spending some time at Parsonage Stables.
Fantastic, country living right on the farm in a beautiful village
Idealic location, very comfortable, clean and neat accommodation with everything you need in the stable conversions. Beautiful village, and just so peaceful, right on the farm, friendly helpful owners on site, pub nearby does great food too, already booked my next stay! Definatly Recommend!
