Worst Restaurant in Canada
Mean lady, rejected my family of 5, didn't offer to make anything for takeout. Just said " I can't take any more, sorry Merry Christmas ". 33$ for a footlong? Are you serious? Will never be back here, lady needs a serious reality check.
Large portions on Subs
The lady that helped us was a nice older woman. This shop is very old school and accepts cash only. The meat portion on our large Italian sub was incredible. We got a 12 " and probably could have gone with a 6 ". There was a lot of meat.
Way overpriced
Husband went 24 hours prior to check location and menu. Was yelled at and told phone orders only for take out. Next day we ordered 2 subs. First call we were delayed 15 mins. Sat outside in car waiting to order. Finally order and told cash only but not told price so was totally not expecting $34 per sub on pickup 😳 😅 🤔. Paid $34 x 2 because felt obligated but these subs are not worth $12 let alone $34 🤣 expensive lesson for us. Hope this helps someone else
Hot and Messy Sub… Just How I Like it
It's been a number of years since I last visited Paul's Sub Shop. This small, non-descript shop located on Imperial Street is next to one of our go-to local pizza places (Bella Pizza). While they have other subs (as well as hamburgers and regular diner fare) on the menu, I generally come here for Paul's Special sub which is a fully loaded 12″ sub with grilled onions, lettuce, cheese, tomato, rib eye steak, capicolla, and oil / vinegar dressing. At $25, it certainly not the cheapest sub in the world but you've really got to try this tasty sub. This sub is definitely a big hot mess and I come back time and again to order it. No seriously, you can't eat this without getting strings of hot, caramelized onions all over your face. Make sure you have some napkins handy because you'll need it. Make sure you bring some dolla dolla bills y'all because this place is cash only. I've heard some people complain about the elderly lady who runs this place but she's always seemed pretty kind and friendly to me.
Best subs ever💕
I go to Paul's for the Steak and Pepperoni with no onions, the best sub ever have been going since it was on Fraser st and the one on Imperial st in Burnaby after that. The lady that owns it is a wonderful lady, she always knows my order and is always happy to make your meal. I love talking to her❤Hopefully she will keep make the best subs for long Long time.
Take your money and go elsewhere
Went here for breakfast with my sister and brother-in-law on Saturday morning. The place looked dated and was empty when we arrived. After seating ourselves, we went up to the counter a couple of times to express that we wanted to order. On both occasions, the one lady running the show rudely told us to sit down and that she would come to us. We waited a long time before she took our order. And then waited even longer to get mediocre cold food. On top of already being overpriced, she arbitrarily charged an extra two dollars because my sister and I shared a breakfast and the two dollars was because she had to " wash two extra plates ". This place will never see us again.
By far the best breakfast and service in Burnaby / Vancouver don't miss this place
We looked up " best breakfast in Burnaby " and were VERY happy we found Mama at Paul's Subs. This absolute firecracker of a woman will enchant you the moment you walk in, and then serve you the BEST hash browns you have ever had. I LOVE the bacon double cheese steak sub with a side of hashbrowns. The place is cash only, and a tiny pricey, but it's worth it for the incredible food and incredible service. Mama is truly a wonder to behold, and her food matches her incredible personality. Dont miss this place. Just don't. You would be cheating yourself.
A unique place…
All you need to know is that my vegetarian wife breaks her " no meat " rule to eat at this place! The owner / cashier / cook is crotchety and crabby - but in an endearing, she-loves-what-she-does way. She must be experienced to be believed. Oh, and the subs are the best and they offer all / day breakfast too!
Best Subs in the Lower Mainland
Everything is good but the Hot Paul Special is the boom. Be very hungry and great breakfasts too. Cash only though.

怖い、優しいおばちゃん
昼食にと1人で行きました。 英語が話せないため、話が通じず、店員のおば様にイライラさせたようです。 しかし、後にわかりやすく説明をしてくれ、美味しいホットサンドをいただきました。 卵をパンに浸して焼き、そこにハムやベーコン、チーズを挟んでいました。 おしゃれなお店ではありませんが、味のあるおば様と、美味しいお料理で大満足です。
find Paul's about a block west of Central Boulevard
Paul and his sub sandwiches goes back to the 1970's when he was on Fraser Street. Paul's subs have only improved over the decades. I went for the Paul's Special on a white sub bun (of course I took 1 / 2 home to enjoy later).

There was a lady doing all the work herself, and the subs were massive. I would recommend the cold subs
Great find. Home style breakfast
Found this place via Trip advisor. Home style breakfast was just what we needed after a night on the town. Can not wait to go back and try the other food. It took a while to get the food but if you want hashbrowns done the right way, it take time.
Move over New York and Phily
I'm a sandy champ and when I found this hidden gem I gained 12lbs within 2 weeks. It's to fricken good.. It was a dream of mine to have such a great east coast hot sandys location. From cheese steak to adding salami and bacon with mushroom and grilled onions to it. The place offers much more deliciousness.. It's run by a very special old school woman. She works daily and is always their making her clients happy. When you meet her you will luv her. Food is so good I'm drooling as I'm typing.. Forget about it... I might go tomorrow.. 👍👍👍

the food is awesome, service is good, just 1 lady working on her own. She, s very friendly and polite, if you like real submarine sandwiches, hot or cold, you gotta eat here...
Not what I hoped for.
Decided to come here since it was close to our house and it had good reviews. Good food, love the sub. But no the lady is definitely not a sweetheart. We thought we didn't have cash so we told her give us a few seconds to figure things out but she told us to get out. We had cash and we came back, she was being all fed up and giving us bad service. Plus there's no complimentary fries and / or onion rings based on what other reviewers had to say. I would come here just for take out...
Off the beaten path, delicious food, pricey
Just had a late lunch at Paul's sub shop. They have hot and cold subs, breakfast food all day (omelette's & eggs Benedict), etc. I had a foot long cold sub (turkey & bacon) and my wife had the 6 inch grilled vegetarian. (I'll try to include pics). They were very tasty. The subs were like home cooking. My bacon was good and the Turkey was fresh and tasty. My wife's had caramel iced onions flowing out on top of a tone of other good stuff in it. I saw some other sandwiches being prepared on the grill and they looked great. We also had two snapple drinks. The bill came to $30. Not a cheap place but it was very good and filling. The lady who waited on us and did the cooking and cashier (probably an Eastern European) brought us complementary fries and onion rings - I wouldn't suggest ordering or add them (they were ok) as my sandwich was very filling. Things to know. It is cash only and not cheap!!!!! There is ample parking in the back and on the side street.
High quality, delicious subs! Great service and well worth the price
I ordered the six inch Bacon Double Cheese Steak sub. It came with bacon, cheddar, mozza, thin chopped ribeye steak, mayo, barbecue sauce, grilled onions, lettuce and tomato. It was loaded. I don't know if it's supposed to be included but I was given onion rings and fries as well. There's a good chance she was just being a generous sweetheart because that's the impression she gave. Anyway, the sub. It was delicious! The meat was perfectly done. The bacon was perfect. The lettuce and tomato were seasoned.. a detail often overlooked, but not by her. The grilled onions were my favourite part. Absolutely perfect. I can't wait to try breakfast there.
Unbelievable subs
I've been coming here for over 15 years. It's the food. The decor is plain and nothing special. But the subs are to die for. 6 " special is the best. Double steak, double ham, double capicoli, cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes, lettuce on a grilled bun. So good. You can taste the difference in these subs. No cardboard texture like subway or Quiznos or that place in Richmond trying to be like Paul's. Don't waste your time at those places. Come get a real sub made with care. The owner is fantastic. She's like your grandmother. Sweet and nice and loves what she does. Yes the prices are higher than the other places. But you'll leave full and satisfied. Don't expect something fancy. Just expect a decent sub. You'll be back.
Best Sub Ever!!
I just enjoyed a " Super-Sub " over lunch hour, just a six inch will fill you up! The sub was very filling, great tastes from the roast beef to the salami, mushrooms and fried onions!! The lady behind the counter was very busy at the time, as she was the chief bottle washer, cook, and complaint Dep't. while I was there. It is not as quick as those " other " Subway shops, but if you have an extra 10 mins it is well worth the wait.

I literally just finished eating a sub from Paul's Sub Shop and had to review it immediately! Hands down the best sub I have ever had, and it was just a cold cut! Apparently their grilled subs are what it is all about, so I am going back tomorrow :P. The shop itself is unassuming from the exterior, and in a location isn't near any major intersection, but I highly recommend a special trip to eat here! The lady behind the counter was an absolute sweetheart, and I hope the popularity booms so they increase their hours.... For now they mostly cater to the lunch crowd, with extended hours Thursday and Friday evenings only. It is so delicious, I want to eat there every night!
