Bucket list experience
Amazing place, amazing view, amazing service. Perfect for adventure trip, fun trip or family trip. Nice and cozy, really personalized service. It is ran by the owners who will accommodate any need and wish you may have. The weekend I was there I had my first dive, and I couldn't have picked a better place to do so. However, some foreigners were there as well for a 40meter dive and had quite an experience as well. Plus the cost-value ratio is unreal. Perfect to go on a budget or to live the life!!My rating 100 / 10.
Five star service, great accommodations, always smiles
When I travel in places like Central America and come across accommodations at a cost point of $50 or lower I check in with low expectations. There is just not a lot to expect. Well Aquatica, a small hotel / restaurant / dive resort (even hostel!) totally blew my mind. Before you even arrive the owner Samir and his lovely wife Claudia are there to answer your phone calls / emails in english and spanish. They want to make sure that your stay will be perfect. If need be Samir will pick you up from the airport or anywhere for a very fair price. Upon arrival at the lake you will find your accommodations whether the private air con room or dorm to be exceptional. As the resort just opened you will find everything brand new from the towels to the curtains. The beds are awesome! You don't want to get out of them. Well until you smell your breakfast cooking in the morning. (Which is included on any rate) The food is great whether you opt for the burger, chicken, or go high roller with the steak. Speaking of the steak.. The Tenderloin rivals my favorite steakhouses where one can drop $100+ for a dinner. Besides all the awesome food available at very affordable prices, Samir has quite the beer and booze selection. The prices are too low, to where you might find yourself a little hung over the next day. Stick with the aged rum if you are gonna have more than 10 cocktails ;) Accommodations aside you have the diving. Samir has a comfortable dive boat on site, the Volcanic lake provides a very different experience for all kinds of divers. (Oh by the way if you don't dive GET CERTIFIED!) I did some 120+ feet deep down to the vents which were awesome. Check out the videos on the web site. Any diver should check out this lake.. Who knew there was cool diving in El Salvador? I sure as hell didn't! Check out Buceo Aquatica, it has something for everyone whether you want to dive, or relax in the massive yard on a hammock of a cozy seat. You will find yourself extending your stay within the first night or two. Just hope they have space.
Amazing Volcano Diving with Samir :-)
My friend Matt and I just spent three days diving with Samir at Lake Ilonpango, an hour from San Salvador. Samir did everything imaginable to make our stay really comfortable in his new resort. Food was amazing. Two of the best steaks I can remember having :-). Cold beer, cocktails and great company. We did 6 dives all up from his well setup pontoon. Amazing walls, thermal outlets where you can feel the hot water wash over you. Hot water deep from the bowels of a still active volcano :-). Exciting stuff. Samir knows the volcano well and all the best dives. He promised that every dive we did would be different and he certainly lived up to his word. So his resort is on the shores of the lake. A beautiful spot with wonderful jungle gardens, lots of birds and lovely staff. Did I mention the steaks? I can't wait to come back with friends to show them this hidden secret. Thanks Samir for a very memorable three days diving.
Espectacular
Comence en el mundo del buceo con Aquatica.... me dio mucha seguridad su equipo, su poonton y la calidad de persona que es Samir, el mejor de los instructores, paciente t muy detallista, sigo buceando con Aquatica, el lago de Ilopango es bellisimo ya que es un Crater volcanico con diversidad de puntos de buceo... me fascinan sus geysers.... roca en ignicion a 13 metros y agua tibia...
Awesome cheap diving
I was told about 'active volcanoe diving' and found Buceo Aquatica on the Internet. I was a bit dubious with the price, but I got a quick email reply to say that it was correct, and $55 includes 2 tank dives off a boat, all equipment (besides dive watch & torch which is $5 each more) and transport from San Salvador to Lago Ilopango. I was told cheaper is not always better, and even though I don't know much about diving equipment it all looked new & the boat was awesome! I stayed at Hostal Cumbres de Volcan as recommended on the website (lovely place!) and Sameer met me the night before to say hi. We also organised to do a 3rd dive for $20 more & had a barbecue for lunch. Not only was the dive experience totally different & something I'm going to rave about for years, Sameer is also a great person who made my dives safe, fun & affordable.
