Now entering its eighth concert season, HICO forges an innovative musical path, championing non-standard repertoire for chamber orchestra and large chamber ensembles in performances throughout the Greater Hartford region. Featured appearances include the 2013 Hartford New Music Festival, 2011 Women Composers Festival of Hartford, a Feldman Residency at The Hartt School in April 2014, and an upcoming multi-program residency at Central Connecticut State University in Spring 2015. Praised as " an invaluable addition to the Hartford musical scene, both for its presentation of the rich chamber orchestra repertoire, and its commitment to newer and commissioned works, " (Robert Carl, composer) 2013-14, season highlights included collaborations with the Generous New Music Ensemble and Hartford Opera Theater, featuring world premieres by Neely Bruce and Michael Schelle. HICO moves into the 2014-15 season with exciting collaborations and events. Programs include collaborations with such groups as Capital Classics Theater, Hartford Opera Theater, and Connecticut Composers, Inc.
