Fabulous little hotel
We have just checked out after a fab stay here for 6 nights. We had four rooms in total for a wedding just outside Barcelona. It was a perfect place, to be with friends. We paid for a sea view room with small balcony, it was dry spacious although plainly furnished & decorated. Bed was very comfortable and despite being right above the road we didn't hear any street noise at night. A / C was very good too! Buffett breakfast was very good too, with continental & hot breakfast available everyday. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the town of Sitges, and the station for trains into Barcelona is only a 10min walk! Although the day we went the trains themselves were a bit chaotic. We would definitely recommend Sercotel Kalma Sitges!
Great location
Their website is ambiguous. Just to let people know, there are NO superior rooms even though you think you are booking one. All the rooms are Classico Make sure you know what you are asking for. We asked for a room with a balcony overlooking the sea. Because of the architetural construction of the facade, this meant for us having a big white wall for our balcony and to the right of that a tiny view overlooking the sea. Bed really comfortable. Beautiful fresh white cotton sheets. Appliance to make your own tea / coffee in the room a bonus Breakfast great
Maravilloso
Great Location
Have stayed here before and will do again even though it is beginning to look a little tired and dated. The front area and the roof top pool look very tired. The reason we come back is the location on the seafront and the great views from the rooms at the front. Breakfast now served in a separate restaurant next door is excellent. Beds are comfortable and rooms have all you need but lacking in a few areas - e. g. no plugs in the sink or the bath, small TV with only 1 English speaking channel - minbar with practically nothing in it, slippers in room but no robes!
Sanitair is ok.
2. Time and again our stay was excellent
We booked the Hotel La Nina in Sitges for our 2. time, after we enjoyed our 1. stay last year October there very much. And again, we felt very happy and our 2. stay was excellent @ La Nina. It began with a warm and heartly welcome back greetin from Monika, the waitress in the Breakfast Room. Check in was easy and helpful. This year we booked a Superior Double, with Sea view and Balcony to the Esplanade. The room had 40m², was always cleaned up and daily fresh towels and new shower gels etc. The furniture has his age but good enough and functional. The TV / Radio was just ok. The little fridge was filled with softdrinks and beer (cerveza) from Hotel, so it was not much place for private drinks. The stuff on Hotel Reception was very friendly (understand and speaks English) and gives good words and thoughts for the day. We liked very much the waitress Monika and later Susanna from Breakfast Room and was like a family feel. Best view from Balcony to the Sea and Esplanade and with amazing sunrise watch. The Hotel is direct connected to the Beaches and to the Shopping Malls and Restaurants along Esplanade and Sitges City. The WiFi was very good in our room. So the only question or little critic is, that it takes long time, to get warm water in the Bath and why is there a sign, for Eco - Tourism in the Bath, when we did not want change our towels daily, but they were changed every day ? But all together, we will comming back in 2019, be sure !
Great place to stay book it with confidence
Excellent location on the seafront, a long line of restaurants facing the sea commence around 30 metres away. The town centre bars and restaurants are around a three minute walk away, with pretty harbour and overlooking church again being around 3-5 mins stroll away. Breakfast was excellent loads if fruit, meats, cheeses, breads and toast. The usual Spanish fayre of hot scrambled egg and ok bacon. The rooftop sunbathing area is excellent with stunning views. The pool is small and I found myself doing laps to get a half decent swim in. Rooms were cleaned daily and were a reasonable size. All staff were pleasant.
A hotel elhelyezkedése kitűnő annak aki a meleg strandon kíván napozni. Igazi melegbarát hotel a véleményem szerint.
Horrible
Getting tired but good location
Stayed here some years ago and there has been vast improvement to the breakfast offering and a new room (built 3years ago) transforms the breakfast offering from the dreadful experience before improvements. The rooms however are the same - clean (ish) and basic but getting tired. The location is great and LaNina will do for a long weekend.
Mother and Daughter time
The hotel for a 4 star is super basic. The decoration of the lobby and the room is super old. However, the bed and the bathroom are good and amazing amenities. The reception lady is really nice. Probably I won't go back there because is overpriced for what they offered.
Mejor imposible !!!
Good location!
A comfortable hotel that is very well located for access to the beach, shops, bars and restaurants. Very dated decor, but friendly staff and a really good breakfast are a plus. I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a balance between comfort value for money.
Yearly short break in sitges
Mmm... difficult.. we enjoyed our 5 night stay. This could be a fab hotel and there are lots of positives. Doesn't have good outdoors welcome and similar indoors staff ok but no real welcome.. We had fab decent sized room with clock on top floor no balcony but nice sea views. Roof top pool small but great with views. Bedroom bed comfy.. shower good... issues are few but need sorting it.. no bar in hotel at all... breakfast good but hot food cold!.. no mattresses for sun loungers one day... water off one day! Stairs bit confusing and one locked or broke today... would come back but does need some work. Really want to give more stars but paid extra for this hotel and not sure really worth it. Great access to beach and prom tho
Tres bon emplacement
We compared Ocean View Hotels and Choose
Off season with lots of availability so we went hotel shopping. We checked out rooms in a number of hotels along the ocean then settled on a La Nina Ocean view room for $110 a night. Worked out great because I fell asleep in the sun on the balcony, We left the doors open all night and fell asleep to the sounds.. This is an average hotel, with a friendly staff, modern rooms, a big tub / shower combo and huge beds. which made our decision to stay here easier. Breakfast included, but the pool and bar are not top notch by any means.
Clean Spacious Rooms and great location
This Hotel is in the perfect location right on the beach. The hotel itself is very quiet, clean and spacious. The breakfast that's served next door is a standard buffet with a good selection of hot and cold items. The rooftop pool might as well not be there its that small but that would be my only negative on a fantastic stay
The roof top pool is just really a bit of a dip in and out thing.
Shallow water and for show. The roof terrece is lovely and what views. A rather sumptious hotel and right on the beach front. Lovely interiors, comfortable and very modern equipped rooms. Excellent service from reception to a great dining room and good chef. Not too bad on price, considering location and internet discount booking are on line.
Still lovely
Another nice stay. Despite the rooms becoming a bit tired, this hotel consistently serves up decent quality. Breakfast accommodation has improved in the past couple of years, now it's about time to invest in guest rooms. Already booked for our next stay.
Great hotel on the sea front
Great hotel on the sea front, with roof top pool. Rooms are LARGE and comfy. There are also quiet considering the location (very close to all the action) Great staff on reception. Complimentary beach towels on offer. Roof top pool and sunning area, which could do with a bar up there (which it once had) Good breakfast
Beware of this hotel's practises
I booked a stay in Sitges via Booking.com and taking advantage of the free cancellation offers chose two hotels with the intention of cancelling one of them near to the date f my departure. I made a mistake and forgot to cancel my booking at La Niña until 2 days after my planned arrival. I fully expected to have been charged a no-show fee for the first night but was horrified to discover this hotel has a policy of charging for the full stay. They took €911.00 from my card for a room I never occupied. Booking.com failed to resolve the matter saying it was " hotel policy ". The hotel refused to discuss it or correspond on the matter. I had to go to my credit card company to dispute the charge. They confirmed that La Niña 's policy is unenforceable and is against the terms and conditions of Visa. They sad that regardless of what the hotel claims in their small print, they are not allowed to charge for services which have not been supplied. I got a refund for all but the first night. Beware of this hotel, if they can do this to me I don't think they care about their customers or reputation. Avoid!
Perfect Hotel to stay on the Esplanade from Sitges
Hotel " La Nina " has the perfect location on the Esplanade from Sitges. You can booking nice partly (bigger) rooms with a balcony to the Sea side, or book a room with balcony on the backside from " La Nina ". We booked a room on the backside. The room had space enough for 2 people (like a typical Beach-Hotel, reminded me to my favourite booked " Hotel Aya " on Mallorca) The furniture has his age but good enough and functional. The TV just ok. The little fridge was filled with softdrinks and beer (cerveza) from Hotel, so it was not much place for private drinks. The Bath has everything you need, a bit more light would be good. It was always cleaned. You have your own safe in your room, easy to open with your personal room card. It was a bit disturbing to hear the flushing sounds coming from the toilet in the next room. The view from the Balcony goes straight and closed to the neighbourbuilding, what is a 4 floor long appartement block (distance max. 5 meter) and was the full day in the shadow (end of October) not the best view. But you can't here the cars or any noise from Street and Esplanade and the waves from the Sea. The Hotel Service on the Desc was very, very friendly, every question was answered. And the very friendly Ladies on the Reception - we only can say thank you very much for the nice and funny chats and talks we had with them. Extra Bonus for them ! We could book a cheaper Taxi back from the Hotel to Barcelona airport. (56 Eur ! as we took a Taxi from the Barcelona Airport to the Hotel we payed 70 EUR) The Breakfast Room is on the neighbour building. By best sunny weather its real fantastic to have the Breaky on the outside. And a big, big thank you to the 2 happy, very friendly Ladies in the Breakfast Room. We felt in family with them and got a very personal warm heartly Welcome every morning. The Breakfast Bar was very rich in very good quality and it left nothing to be desired. And don't miss to go on the plattform from the 4th floor, there is a little roof pool and you have very nice views to the Beach and Esplanade. Thanks for the fantastic stay, be sure we will comming back in October !
Good hotel in excellent location - but could be even better
Visited this hotel for the first time and had a very satisfactory stay. However there are a few frustrations that stop this hotel from being truly exceptional - hopefully these are things they can iron out relatively easily, as with a bit more TLC this hotel would be an absolute must-visit. Firstly the pluses - generally very accommodating and welcoming staff, a fantastic rooftop pool and terrace, and an amazing breakfast buffet available 7-11am daily with the opportunity to eat out on the front terrace with a sea view. My room was at the rear of the hotel, but came with a balcony and was nice and quiet. The location is also incredibly handy, right across from the main beach and a stone's throw from the centre of town. Now the negatives - the key cards consistently kept not working, meaning I had to get them reset by the front desk at least 4 or 5 times, and the wi-fi which is so pathetic I ended up getting better service from my phone's 3G signal instead. Also had some issues with water pressure in my room (though these were sorted promptly) and there were some features of the rooftop pool that weren't working. I get the feeling that the hotel could use a bit of TLC to get it to its full potential - while I had a perfectly good stay, it was frustrating that with just a few small tweaks it could have been truly exceptional.
Great location, correct rooms
We were here during super high season and the price were higher than normal but still good services for the money paid. The pool is great but the sun is gone before 7 early September. The room was spacious and the bathroom was larger than average. Power plugs everywhere The breakfast was nice, worth waking up and quite complete. One thing to bear in mind is that you need to make sure your door stays closed. If you do not slam it, it stays open
Bear week
We had a fantastic experience here! Fantastic location and close to everything! The rooms are so clean and perfect for anyone! I did have a problem that " I " caused which, I did not book enough nights for my stay! They were so helpful to help me find another hotel for the nights I forgot to book!! The staff is the greatest I have ever encountered! Breakfast... huge and delicious! I look forward to coming back to this hotel!! 5 ⭐in my book!
Decent, but frustrating
Guest for three nights. First, the good: The desk clerk who checked me in was VERY accommodating, and allowed me to take a room at 12, well before the official check in time. The room is comfortable - great sleep if you like a firm bed, which I do. Lovely balcony away from the main street and noise. Very quiet room. Now the less good: Wifi is TERRIBLE here. As in, it is so bad they may as well not even offer it. In my room the signal would drop, or the speed would be so slow, I was better off using my phone's 2G service. Really frustrating when you are visiting somewhere you are not familiar with and are trying to research a little about the town. There are 12 different networks for the hotel and none of them worked decently or consistently. My other frustration: apparently their key card system is older than the cobblestone streets. I was locked out of my room 4 times over the course of a three night stay. The desk people every time just tried to make a new key, even after I told them that wouldn't work. Then when it didn't work, they told me I must have put the card near another credit card or my phone and that deactivated it. I'm sorry folks, but no, it is 2017. My phone's tiny magnetic signal is not enough to erase the keycard. After many sighs and eye rolls the staff would eventually come up to my room and then be surprised when the keys they made wouldn't open the door. Didn't I just tell you that the keys I have don't work? They change the battery and said oh this will work... until about 6 hours later, apparently. Once I can understand, things break. Two times, kinda dodgy, but whatever. FOUR times indicates a terrible system and total lack of upkeep on the system used to secure guest's belongings. Fix it the first time, and don't give me a hard time when I tell you it still isn't working.
Very good, though needed a little TLC
So, I have stayed here before and it is an excellent hotel. For me, the positives were: - an excellent breakfast, served late, until 1100; - excellent housekeeping team who maintain the rooms to a very high standard; - excellent pool area that we had to ourselves for almost the whole holiday; - excellent location - directly in front of the beach; - very good reception staff who were very helpful; - an iron that can be loaned to guests! La Nina is tremendous value for money and I would stay here again. However, there were a few things that I feel need addressing - the hotel is marketed as a four star and I would not want them to lose that. Not quite complaints, but areas to consider, I think are: - the bar area on the roof has all but been abandoned. While I understand that this was due to complaints from neighbours / guests about the level of noise, the area now looks derelict. Thankfully this is not visible from the pool but it's a little spooky; - the bar seating area by the pool had no pads put out and looked a little neglected, with items dumped under stairs, which made it feel as though it wasn't being attended to; - only one of the pool jets is currently working and the pool felt to be unheated. This made it a little unusable when cloudy, which was a shame. - the frontage of the hotel gave a feeling of abandonment - very little illumination and a lack of furniture compared to the layout before. It feels like La Nina may be about to change hands - there was a sense that as little money was being spent on it as possible before it is sold on. On one occasion at least, I am sure I saw some German business men casing around the site. All this being said, I would recommend as a stay. If the above issues had not been so pertinent, I would undoubtedly have given a top rating of five.
Another great stay
This was about the fifth time we've stayed here and it's probably the best and most convenient hotel in Sitges. The staff are friendly, the car parking is easy to access and the pool and terrace on the roof are under used, so convenient to enjoy if you don't fancy the sand on the beach. The beach is directly opposite and the hotel provides free beach towels, which you can change was often as you like. I don't think there's a better hotel in town in this price bracket.
Top location
Excellent value for money. It was the quiet season and the location was just great with stunning views from the roof terrace. The plunge pool could be very useful in the summer months. Breakfast was just next door with attentive staff who made sure that the clients were very well looked after.
Best value for money
Best room we've had in Sitges over the last couple of years. Spacious, clean, refurbished room with balcony. Modern bathroom. Quiet at night. Friendly service. Great buffet breakfast with tables indoors & outdoors.
Great little find
There is no doubt that the location of this hotel is its main vantage point. It sits virtually on the beach itself. Coupled with the fact you can have your breakfast outside ooverlooking it. The breakfast was great and lots of it. Chilled cava was even lurking with the water and fruit juice. We were on the third floor and had a fantastic sea view the room was great and the toiletries lovely too as I'm a big fan of Rituals. The roof terrace with the plunge pool was awesome as it was so hot. The sun loungers were few but seemed to cater for the guests. The only disappointing thing as bout this hotel was that it advertised a roof bar and there wasn't one. A bit wasted opportunity for the hotel. I would definitely return and recommend it to my friends and family x
Good beach hotel!
Location excellent, right in front of the beach, hotel convenient, room clean and functional, quiet although right in the centre, small balcony, bed comfortable, fragrant toiletries from Rituals, small pool on the roof, nice view from up there (not that great from our room, facing the neighbours, but okay). Breakfast was very good, varied and very fresh for Spanish standards, take it in (cool and quiet) or outside. Personnel, especially the breakfast staff and cleaning ladies, were very friendly! Good choice, good value for money (if booked early).
10 Day Stay
Hotel La Niña is very well situated on the sea front and only 200 yards from the centre of Sitges. This is a four star hotel Spanish rating and with a few minor points could be a 4 star hotel UK style. The hotel is spotless and the rooms are of a good standard but could do with more drawer space. The bathroom is large with an over the bath shower but the water control needs to be looked at as it can go from hot to cold with out any warning. The rooftop sunbathing area is very good with a large plunge pool on the roof terrace. There is no bar facilities at this hotel. The breakfast is served next door which is very good with hot and cold options. The staff are very polite and nothing is a burden to them. We will use this hotel again.
Efficient service at reception
Reception staff dealt with both the check-in and check-out process very quickly. Few others seemed to be staying in June, so there was no queue. Despite the absence of other guests, the noise of furniture being endlessly moved around on the floor above me was particularly irritating early one morning. Seafront balcony rooms have a marvellous view which detracts from the dull interior, with the blue and ochre colour scheme which is pervasive throughout much of the accommodation in this part of Spain.
Nice beachfront location
Stayed two nights. The room was dated but clean. Two twin beds pushed together that kept sliding apart if you fell in between! Rooftop pool was very small but the view was nice. Good breakfast included in the mornings. Easy walking to old town and bus / train station. Great restaurants nearby.
Comfortable Clean Room in Central Position - Great Breakfast
We stayed in a room for two nights in late May 2017. The room was in the back of the hotel so it had no outlook but it was spotlessly clean comfortable and quiet and came with a small refrigerator. When we asked a very tiny electric kettle was made available to us for make tea or coffee which we bought at the local supermarket. The staff were helpful and pleasant to deal with. The buffet breakfast was excellent, and there were chairs and tables available on a nice sunny outdoor verandah facing the sea, or one could eat indoors. The very large king size bed was comfortable but a little too big for the small room, in my opinion it would have been better to have a queen size bed in that room. If I stayed again I would ask for 2 normal sized pillows for each person, as one normal size pillow plus a cushion were supplied and the cushion was a bit precarious for a person who likes their head to be in a higher position when they sleep. The location of the hotel was excellent and close to everything in the town. The beach was across the road. We both enjoyed our stay very much and we would stay here again.
Good hotel but slightly dated rooms
I liked the hotel and the location was excellent. The housekeeping was brilliant too. The staff were helpful and also the breakfast was good. What let it down slightly was the room was a bit dated and tired. Could have done with a bit of modernising.
Quiet and well located
La Niña is described as a boutique hotel, it's really just a small hotel with quite nice toiletries, but offers a good base for a holiday in Sitges. Friendly reception staff, rooms are standard size for European hotels of this kind, and I found it to be very clean. The decor could perhaps do with some updating, but that's really a minor point as the building feels solid with not much sound travelling around so your sleep is not disturbed. Although, like pretty much all Spanish hotels, the maids have a tendency to drag the beds across the tiled floors from 8am which wakes you up. I never understand why hotels don't put soft felt pads under the bed legs. I was at the back of the hotel on the 3rd floor, and whilst you are facing an apartment block, I could see the sky and got sunshine in the afternoon. I don't think I would have been happy with a lower floor room, so request 3rd floor or higher if you don't have a sea view. Nice breakfast spread which is included and you can take it on the terrace looking out to sea. Really lovely. Minor points to improve would be better lighting in the bathroom and more substantial bath towels. As other people have mentioned, they could make a much better feature of the pool terrace and bar - it is looking unloved, but overall La Niña delivered what I wanted which was a quiet, comfortable and relaxing place to stay in a central location. It's probably more 3+ star than 4 star, but at the same price as much worse hotels nearby, I thought it offered good value.
Quaint boutique hotel
One of very few 'original' hotels on the beach front. Our welcome was nice and very efficient, the front desk is professional and warm. Our room 314 was clean and well apportioned although at the rear of the hotel the view is dull as the property backs on to others but the upside was that the room was super quiet. Nice balcony that got the evening sun. Pool area is quiet and clean with wonderful views over the beach. Bar upstairs is nice but pricey. All in all this is a brilliant property and excellent value for money.
La Nina is great
we stayed in la nina in july last year 2005. it's a really nice hotel. centrally located, on the beach, everything in walking distance. probably the newest or one of the newest in sitges. rooms are small by international standards but well appointed, totally clean and very comfortable. the free continental breakfast in the mornings is an extra bonus. staff were always friendly. pool on the roof is nice when you need a change from the beach. can't really fault the place and will be back this year.
Excellent Hotel in Sitges
A totally delightful hotel on the seafront in Sitges, with excellent service, delightful rooms particularly overlooking the sea and palm trees. It was very special each morning to have breakfast outside. The cleanliness of the hotel and the rooms was remarkable. The roof terrace was a an attraction too. The receptionists too were charming and helpful in booking meals and answering enquiries
Excellent for what it is
We usually stay at 5 star hotels, but those are hard to find in Sitges. This was a very nice, very clean, simple hotel in the thick of town across from Pic Nic restaurant and the gay beach. It is a small hotel with some large rooms and balconies overlooking the sea. The same family owns three restaurants and hotels (named for Columbus's three ships) on the same block, and this one is the nicest. Comes with very nice breakfast buffet which you can enjoy at sidewalk cafe. Suggestion: get a room with a balcony and take a coffee from the restaurant bar (in the lobby) up to your room to watch the sunset and crowds below. There's no room service, but we were pleased to learn that they would permit this. We thought the rate was a very good value (also includes towels for the beach). Sparse on services. Late night outdoor lounge. We'd happily stay there again.
Not impressed at all
I am surprised by the very positive reviews that this hotel is receiving. I have just come back from a week long stay with the hotel and can honestly say that I do not believe the service or the standard merits 4 stars. I agree the rooms are all very clean and well maintained. But they are basic, the mini bar contents no longer contain most of the items mentioned on the price list, the water pressure on the 3rd floor of the hotel is appalling. It takes at least 20 minutes to run a bath, by which time the water is only lukewarm. Everything about the hotel is functional, there is no furntiure in the rooms other than a bed and desk area, the towels are worn and could do with replacing, and the reception staff were terrible. Whenever I walked past the desk they appeared to be deeply engrossed in the latest newspaper or their computer so as not to risk eye contact with a guest and maybe have to deal with an enquiry. During our stay I asked about the Water Pressure problem to be told it will be looked at the next day - of course nothing happened and it was not mentioned again - as i was on holiday I decided not to pursue the issue. I also asked if they had internet access only to be told that the computer was broken - no alternative solution was given by the staff. Additionally there are photocopied signs stuck around the hotel telling guests what they can and cannot do - eg no towels on the balcony, no food or drink by the pool. The breakfast was adequate, although no covers provided for the pastries, so most mornings there were flies all over them, and tinned fruit was used instead of fresh fruit more than once. Other than being new and right on the sea front I don't think this hotel is any better than the other hotels in the town. The price they charge for the service they are willing to give is disproportionate and the plastic flowers in reception and cheap shower gel dispensers in the bathroom are just tacky. Overall, they are clearly keeping costs at the expense of extras that you would expect for a 4 star hotel. I would recommend looking around for some of the smaller privately run places where they may be a bit more service orientated.
Great Location
Frendly Hotel Great location free Mini Bar if booked through IDIADA Proving Ground Free YES Free Bar 19.00-21.00hrs. Nice rooms at front of the hotel. close to all restraunts and town centre 5mins walk.
Very good hotel at a reasonable price
La Nina is perfectly situated on the sea front and a stone's throw from the bars and night-life of Sitges. I had a sea-front room on the third floor which was clean and comfortable. A bit smaller than a typical four star room but quite adequate. The bathroom showed a few signs of tiredness (grout had fallen out from the tiling in a few places) but everything worked. Room was quiet despite the location and the aircon worked well. Nice balcony overlooking the sea for an early evening drink. Sitges is a relatively expensive resort for Spain, but the room rate was quite reasonable at 155 Euro a night including breakfast and free Wi-Fi. Breakfast was first class with a great selection of breads and pastries, cold meats, cheeses, fruit, cereals, yoghurt, and some hot food (eggs / bacon / mushrooms), tea, coffee and juices. However the best part of this hotel is the " Sky Lounge " on the roof (4th floor so hardly in the sky!). While I was there it was very quiet so I had a choice of several comfy sunbeds with sun shades, plus there is a small but adequate plunge pool with water jets and bubbles. Very pleasant if you want a day in the sun but off the beach. Even better, a large beer (500ml) at its bar was just 2.20 Euro, half the price of most bars in Sitges (or a quarter of the price in some European capitals). Overall, hard to fault for the price and highly recommended.
True Spanish Hotel
In a superb position on the seafront this hotel offers elegance and style missing from many others in the popular resort
Fab hotel
The superior rooms are well worth the extra cost, a little worn in places but doesn't spoil the overall experience. Sea view, prom, atmosphere very quiet and relaxing. Stayed last week btw the minbar is not free as some have said on here. Fab helpful, friendly staff and the food was very good. No problem recommending this hotel! Easy access into town on the train.
Staff is Great and perfect location
Our stay began with the warm welcome we received from reception manager Renato. He was genuinely interested and attentive to any and all requests we had from check in to check out, and went above beyond what was necessary to create a pleasant stay. I can honestly say all the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. The hotel it self is comfortable, excellently located across from beach, lovely roof terrace and pool area, with comfortable sun loungers. The rooms are designed in a minimalist fashion, but are very clean and the beds comfortable. Well Done Renato!! We shall be back! The Boys from Malta
Very relaxing
We went as the season was ending - we watched the sunbed remove all the sunbeds, umbrellas, awning and frames, duckboards - everything. And it was one of our best times in Sitges. Everything was beautifully quiet, no hustle and bustle on the beach, in the town or at the hotel. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfasts were fantastic: they served just about anything and everything you could want. The staff were attentive, pleasant and helpful. We truly had a relaxing stay.
Me esperaba mas...
Dodgy dinner
(ignore room rating as I dont know but had to choose). Soup - tasteless, dessert - stale profiteroles. Main course was lovely but had to rechoose as initial choice was unavailable. Plenty of restaurants for us to choose from so won't go back. Shame, fab decor, excellent location but inconsistent food, not good enough. We complained about the dessert and was offered something else. We said no thanks.
Fantastic
This is a fantastic hotel with top level but unobtrusive service. Staff fluent in English so easy for us to communicate with. Linens and bath products excellent, comfortable bed, delicious full breakfast, and ideal central location. We highly recommend staying here. Perfect for greeting the day with the sea at your feet.
Really liked La Nina
This is a very nice hotel, directly across from a beautiful beach. Within walking distance of lots of restaurants (and the train station). The rooms are small, but adequate. We did not have a beach view, which meant that the rooms were very quiet. A / C worked just fine, and there was an in-room safe. Check in was handled very nicely, including a glass of Cava upon arrival. Front desk was extremely helpful. We would absolutely stay at this hotel again if we visit Sitges again.
La Nina or Calipolis - that is the question!
Oh dear - I really wanted to 'love' this hotel as I've just had too many bad experiences in the Calipolis and there isn't much in the way of 'quality' on long the sea-front here. The common areas are good and roomy and a fabulous street level terrace for dining, makes this another hotel with a great location, But. The rear facing rooms are small and the balcony of my room looked directly onto Mr & Mrs' Velaquez' appartment (I'm sure the inahabitants of the overlooking appartments loved having me peer in every morning I woke up - not!). Hot water at this property is also a lottery. We woke on two mornings to find no hot water and nobody that bothered! Reception really do just tolerate you here, and are worse than the crew in The Calipolis. If you need laundry done - there isn't any at weekends and if you need airconditioning - there isn't any of that either (at least it wasn't working in my room). Breakfast was included in the rate but really isn't worth it (even if they serve until 11:00am). I've had fantastic breakfasts in town for EUR 5.50 including fresh squeezed juices bacon, eggs, toast and fabulous coffee. Here at la Nina it's tasteless breads the usual uninspiring cold collation and eggs that have been cooked to within an inch of their lives.. Didn't eat at the hotel after the first breakfast as I thought if they can't get breakfast right! interestingly the restaurant was a lot quieter in the evenings than the nearby Sanat Maria (which is always fab). So I'm stuck now - The Calapolis has lovely rooms, but no soundproofing, high room rates and miserable staff. La Nina has naff rooms (at least at the back), lousy food, but is much better priced with indifferent staff. Neither of them really deserve to be called true 4star. So I'm now left with future choice of the Dolce Sitges, which is miles from all the fun and action or the Sol Melia, which is typical holiday Spain and the wrong side of town. Time to look for another sunny gay freindly destination? - We'll see.
A Well-Deserved 4-Star Hotel
Wanted a 4-star hotel on our second return to Sitges, as had stayed previously at the 3 star Hotel Sitges Park some 6 years ago which was more like a 2 star! La Nina does not disappoint. The design of the hotel has been extremely well planned. The foyer area, restaurant area, pool area on the rooftop, Breakfast and Dinner all excellent. We stayed on the 3rd floor overlooking the seafront. If like us, you like fantastic views and people-watching, then ask for a front room on check-in. Close the windows at night as there is a lot of early morning noise with dust carts etc clearing the beaches, but the room is air conditioned anyway. Hotel staff were as we expected. They were polite, but that was it. Apart from the guys and girls on reception, the rest (waiters etc) speak little or no English (or were claiming they couldn't). This could also be ignorance on our part as well, for not learning their language before travelling there! We found that wherever we visited on our stay, many of the spanish were the same, so it is more of a cultural thing rather than a hotel thing. Food is fantastic. Breakfast is croissants, fry-ups, cereals etc (what you would expect a Breakfast to be really!) and they serve it from 8.00am to 11.00am which is nice if you want a lie-in after a heavy night! Evening meals are priced no differently to most other restaurants and you will never see a bigger menu variety anywhere else! If we return a 3rd time to Sitges, we will definitely stay at La Nina again.
perfect
I came to Sitges to celebreate my 40th birthday, so the hotel decided to upgrade us to the top floor suite. what can I say ? Everything about this stay, the service, their restaurant, its location, etc.. was just perfect.
Great location but average hotel
Location wise it is fantastic. The hotel is centrally located just a few minutes walk to the town centre and with the main beaches right in front of it. We stayed in a double room on the first floor with the sea view. The hotel as a whole was good but if you are accustomed to the main hotel chains, then you would be little disappointed. The decor and furniture is dated and the finishing looks cheap. They should get an interior designer when they next do a refurb. I am not liking the orange and blue colours... maybe that is a Spanish thing.. hehe... They could have done with a large flat screen tv on the wall rather than a small one on the table but hey, people don't go to Sitges to watch tv. The fridge could be bigger as there was not enough space to keep the drinks we bought from the mini mart cold. Also on the Sunday when the shops were closed we could not find any ice cubes and the receptionist was not that helpful. When asked about getting the ice from the restaurant, they said it's a seperate business to the hotel. Overall, it's a good hotel but not a four star one. A little too pricey but hey there is not much choice in Sitges. A refurb of the place would do it wonders. A modern look would turn this hotel around.
Good hotel, great location
The location far exceeds the quality of the hotel although there is nothing actually wrong with it. Decent sized rooms, friendly staff, good breakfast, nice roof terrace with plunge pool and great bar (although this is not promoted or use encouraged). The rooms are fine and have all the amenities you'd expect, are cleaned daily and are typically European. I just wish in 2013 that the hotel beds could be double and not the standard single beds which we end up pushing together and then falling down the gaps.
Excellent location but poor bathroom lighting
Hotel is directly opposite from the beach and a short walk into the centre of town. We had a sea view room which was well appointed apart from the lighting in the bathroom which was shockingly poor. Two bulbs over the sink and no light in remainder of area. Buffet breakfast was excellent with a lot of choice. Roof terrace provided extensive views together with a very small swimming pool.
great hotel
We stayed here with lots of friends in June 11 for the duration of our daughter's wedding in the nearby church. I must say all our needs were catered for by very friendly staff and of course manager juan. The food was excellent and they even had IRISH WHISKEY in the bar for us. We hope to return shortly to relive the experience. Many thanks to you all. Paddy & Irene King. N. IRELAND.
not quite 4 stars but still good
Although it didn't meet my expectations for a four star hotel I wasn't bad. The location is excellent - just over the road to the beach. It is very close to the centre of town but far enough away not to be noisy at night. There are plenty of restaurants and bars very close by too. The breakfast was in keeping with a four star standard. The rooms were ok but needed some attention. The bathrooms however seemed brand new (well at least in room 405) The service was friendly and professional. Extra services worth noting are the free beach towels and fast wifi. The roof top terrace and pool were a real bonus. Only downside was the lack of waiter service by the pool so it's a long trek for a cocktail. Overall it was well worth the weekend stay.
Superb location
This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and it truly is an unbeatable location for Sitges. There are some real positives about this place, especially the friendliness and efficiency of the staff, truly first class! The beds are comfortable and the rooms are kept clean. The decor is quite simple but could probably do with some upkeep, for example their were stains on the walls that could probably have been removed and the furniture in the reception area is in need of replacement but it still is very comfortable. There was however one disappointment and that was with the pool area. This is in desperate need of updating and is on the verge of looking neglected. The upside is that this hotel is directly opposite the beach so if you don't mind swimming in the sea, it's easy enough to avoid the pool.
Great Location
Nice friendly, clean hotel.. Excellent fast internet, great rooftop pool area and fantastic location right opposite the beach and close to shops, restaurants and bars. Decent continental breakfast with a good selection of breads and pastries, fruit and meats
Best view - get a balcony!
We stayed for 10 days in September. Booked their most expensive room for a sea view with balcony. Superior double I believe it was called? Easy check in, able to leave our bags whilst room was being prepared, nothing was too much hassle. Our balcony was amazing, lovely view and intimate, only one other balcony on the opposite side and nobody ever sat there. Room quality is good, not amazing but good. It was a big room, standard bathroom etc. Beds felt a little hard to sleep on and took some getting used to. BIG TIP: THE MINIBAR IS FREE AND RESTOCKED DAILY!. We were not aware of this we only found out after overhearing couple at breakfast tell the table next to them. Lets just say we took advantage from then on! Breakfast tip: Go before 10am. After 10am it isn't really " replenished " so no more pastries and hot food if they run out etc. So get there early and you'll have a lovely continental breakfast with ease. It seems the restaurant and sky lounge closes for winter from mid-Septemberish so be sure to book before then if you want to use any of those facilities. The sky lounge on the roof has a fab view of the coastline, plush seats, quite empty and a serviced bar, definitely was a big plus for our trip. Tried the restaurant once, it was nice, nothing amazing but good value for what was served. It is very close to the gay beach (it is opposite it), which is good if you're a gay couple like us ;) The pool on the top is small but that is standard for Sitges. It certainly did well if you couldn't be bothered with the sea. Very close to the centre but nice and quiet. Definitely recommend this hotel. Finally.... the maid, whoever you were, you are amazing. She definitely has a sense of humour. I really REALLY liked the fact when we left DND on our door all day they still left a bag of fresh towels, toiletries etc for us to collect when we got home even though we asked them not to service the room during the day. Not had a hotel do this before, extremely welcome when you just want fresh towels but cab letting the maid in for the day to tidy up. Thankyou again!
Great location, average hotel
The hotel has a very good location. Close to clubs, restaurant and beach front. The room is average but that what would you expect for a 3-star hotel. The bed is comfortable and the area is big. The colour is a bit dark and sad which is ironic because it is a beach front hotel. But I went there during pride party so I am pretty much outside the hotel. The front desk personnel is okay.. not friendly but not rude as well, which makes your welcome more like a hostel setting. The food in the restaurant is good and the waiters are polite and friendly. Overall, it is an average hotel and within expectation. I would consider staying here again.
Really not a four-star hotel
The location is fabulous, but that's the only four-star thing about this hotel which displays a four-star rating outside. The rooms are fine and very clean, but there are so many details which aren't good enough. The wi-fi service is erratic, there are no glasses to accompany drinks from the minibar, the wardrobe isn't long enough to hang dresses in, no tea or coffee making faciliites, no folder of information about the hotel or its (rather limited) services. Breakfast is average, and it would be nice to have some outside tables of average height, not just high stools or coffee tables, which aren't ideal for eating from. And even in a one-star hotel, you'd expect there to a plug in the sink and bath - I had neither, and after requesting one, was brought a single plug that didn't fit either. As I was checking out, I noticed the complimentary welcome drinks, which I wasn't offered on my arrival - the staff were fine, but not especially warm or welcoming. My room had a balcony which overlooked the block of flats opposite and had no view. If all you want from a stay in Sitges is access to the beach across the road, then this is the hotel for you, but if you want a four-star experience with 'luxuries' like a plug in the sink, La Nina isn't the place for you.
friendly staff
my husband and I have just returned from sitges and would like to recommend hotel la nina. first of all the reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. breakfast was good plenty of variety. the rooms slightly dated but adequate, sea view well worth the extra. excellent location and if we were to return to sitges would definitely stay again.
Hospitality - a lesser known concept
La Niña is one of the older hotels in Sitges, in a great location (Passeig Maritim), downtown and near the beach, but that's about it. We only spent one night there (because the Calipolis and other hotels recommended to us by local friends were fully booked), but I wasn't eager to spend more than one night at La Niña, anyway. First of all: neither the receptionists on duty, when we checked in and out, or when we left or returned to the hotel lobby during the day, was particularly friendly, nor the lady hosting the rather meagre breakfast buffet the next morning. Both were rather commanding (the first scoulding us for- what she assumed without asking us - wanting to check in before 3 p. m, whereas we actually only wanted to drop our luggage; the second only barking " Room number! " as an answer to my kindly meant " Feliz año! " on the morning of January 1, and then just pointing to a side-room, where a " so so la la " -buffet was laid out). A real pity, Old rooms, dark corridors, outdated and ugly furniture in the lobby, uncomfy plastic chairs in the bar and restaurant, much too loud " lounge??? " music and elevated prices even in the off season (100, -- / night for a double room with a balcony that unfortunately is surrounded by a man-high wall, i. e. you see the sea only, if you stand up) is already quite a downturner. Combined with an unwilling staff that completely lacks the relaxed attitude you would expect at the turn of the year in Catalunya or the professional skill to pretend it, is a no go. Also there was a plastic bag filled with s. th. (I don't know what) bound to the balcony railing. When we asked the receptionist, what it was and if they could remove it, she only said, she had no idea and we should bring it to her. And the bathroom stank, when we checked in. Only after opening all the faucets and having the water run for some time (and generously using my perfume), it became better. This hotel is definitely not your first choice in Sitges, I'd say.
poor for the price
arrived monday 25th april, I had requested a sea view room with a balcony but had been allocated a siide room. this was changed to a sea view. after a meal and travel weary, a night's sleep was impossible due to rattling of pipes and heat. eventually at 4am I went down and asked to change rooms, we were allocated a superior room, which consisted of a bathrobe and slippers. extra. Breakfast not bad, no tea makinng facilities in room, staff very helpful. was asked to pay the full amount for 4 nights because they had put us in a superior room. Not my fault their lack of maintenance. room very clean and staff nice but this is not a 4 star hotel, it is not even a hotel, I would call it a boarding house which lets off rooms with a breakfast. Overall very expensive for what is on offer.
Mal!
Sitges -Beautiful
Just back from the fabulous town of sitges just 30 minutes south of Barcelona. We travelled as a group on a soccer weekend and stayed at the lovely La Nina Hotel. The hotel is situated directly across from the beautiful beaches (17 in total) of sitges and only a ten minute stroll to the Renfe train station. Nightlife and restaurants are on your doorstep. We were based mainly on the 3rd floor that could be reached via the hotel lift or by the stairs. Our room was medium sized with two single beds, ample storage, a quite large bathroom with bath, shower and bidet. A flat screen satellite TV, Wifi, full mini fridge and a safe operated using your room key - which I hadn't come across before. Some rooms had sea views but our balcony overlooked a courtyard. I ventured to the top floor where I found a small sized pool with sun loungers and the most beautiful view. Credit must go to the lady on reception who checked in our group (14) with the minimum of fuss. The foyer of the hotel was very ornate with some very comfortable furniture for relaxing. The exterior of the hotel was covered by a canopy and you could sit and relax, have a drink and watch the world go by. For breakfast we had to pop next door and it was magnificent set in a lovely large area with a area set aside for the bar. We helped ourselves to cereals, juices, hot beverages, hot food, bread & toasts, fruit, meats & cheeses and the most beautiful pastries to finish off. There was no rushing and the service was excellent a key component of the entire hotel. The value, comfort, and service of La Nina were excellent and I would fully recommend this gem of a hotel
Great place to stay
Stayed 2 nights in Sitges, early June. Hotel is old-style, right across the street from the beach. Rooms comfortable. Fabulous breakfast brunch included. Really nice to sit outside the restaurant overlooking the beach, having breakfast and drinking coffee. If you like art, don't miss Cau Ferrat Museum - amazing works in an awesome building.
Needs updating but otherwise not bad at all
The staff is very friendly so i am not sure what otger reviewers are going on about, bearing in mind you are in a culture that is somewhat different than middle america or any town UK. The rooms are in need of an update but the location could not be better. They have a lovely rooftop terrace. Unless you get one of the better seaview balconies then the extra cost of the obstructed view balcony may not be worth it. After checking out they even accomodated us to have a shower and freshen up before our late flight that day.
Perfect beach hotel -but what about the service in the reseption
I have stayed in this hotel for several years. This year i feel that i have to tell about the bad service in the reseption ? I have been traveling a lot all over the world, Spain as well. It all started the day i arrived. I was standing alone at the front desk and the girl who worked there talked to a collegue. I said hello and tryed to gey contact to the girl, but no respomce. After five minutes i gave her my passport and she took it and continued the conversation with her collegue. I waited for five more minutes and then she gave me the hotel card and no welcome. Not interested at all. Every day the poeple who worked at the front desk looked more dawn to the floor than up to the guests. They are really not interested at all. After checking out no goodbye, no thank you or no welcome back. I think they have a big problem with the front desk. lets hope the manager really care and take action.
nice hotel, great location
I have stayed at La Nina on 2 occasions for a week in the sun. The quality of the decor & the size of both rooms was good but if possible try and get a front facing room. The views from the front facing rooms are excellent and look straight over the beach. The views from rear facing rooms are non existant and look directly onto a concrete residential block which is in very close proximity. The hotel is very well located on the seafront close to the town centre and as such is a popular choice with holidaymakers. Having said that, the roof terrace and pool offer an oasis of quiet amid the hustle & bustle of this very popular resort. Breakfasts are very good and having dined in the restaurant of an evening, I can say that the food was also of very good quality when compared with many eating establishments in this resort. The hotel isn't cheap but offers value for money when compared to other hotels of a similar standard in this resort which has some of the most expensive real estate in Spain.
Great Location - Pricey Hotel but it's a Pricey Town
This is about my fifth review of this hotel (its a shame tripadvisor dont show a history). Anyway, I had another great time in the La Nina (Well, I always have a good time in Sitges). However, I must say that my opinion of the hotel is starting to falter.. only slightly. Location is it's main advantage. Price is the main disadvantage. I stayed the first week of Jun 2010 and was charged 140 per night for a sea view room - Cheaper than previous years, but I just dont see the value. They need to knock another 10er off per night, I think. I stayed on the roof top with direct access to the pool. That was cool. Air conditioner was acting up for the entire stay, and no one seemed able to sort out my wifi. That annoyed me a bit. The pool is only about 3meters by 10meters.... but nice for a dip when you get too hot. (You'd be hard pressed to find a large swimming pool within a 10min walk of the centre. See my review of the Best western subur!) Rooms are spacious and clean - better than other hotels I've stayed in sitges, but I think they are due some modernisation (maybe in 1-2yrs). Most of the staff are friendly, and very accomodating - but there is one exception!! She should learn to smile!! Hot breakfast was on request (no longer a buffet)..... Restaurant is great. it serves everything. Food is delicious. Also nearby id recommend the chicken restaurant (ul notice the rotating chickens on the main street,)... its DELICIOUS....;-) Tip. To get to the hotel, its best to go by the Mon Bus.. It goes directly from the airport to sitges and takes about 30mins. its about 3euro. (It leaves now from the new terminal..... which is a nuisance for Aer Lingus travellers (free shuttle between terminal takes a min of 10mins).. Buses depart at 20 to the hour.... and then the return trip from Sitges is 5mins to the hour..... I think the last bus from the airport is 11:40pm. Any questions / feel free to drop me a mesage. id highly recommend sitges to everyone. its an amazing town, way ahead of it's time - both family friendly and open minded... it has the prefect mix of people,... with a great sea front where everyone can walk hand in hand at sunset ;-) June 2010 was so much quieter than Jun 2009!! I suppose the season hasn't kicked off really, but I'd say its a sign of the summer to come. Check out the The Piano bar (after 1am) for great music / atmosphere.
great location, helpful staff, seaview rooms a must, lovely resort
My family, six adults and my grandson aged 15months, stayed at La Nina for a week recently. Arriving in Barcelona after a cruise we were left stranded for a week due to the Icelandic ash cloud and unable to get to the UK. I have to say the manager and staff were most helpful and provided some additional facilites for us at no extra cost. The rooms were clean and well maintained, breakfast just fine with plenty of selection. Three star 's +from us.
cant say about hotel but restaurant horrified me!
Choose la nina restaurant for last evening meal as it had a michelin recomended sticker on the door, As we were offered to the table my wifes place had a 20cm hair on the plate! well these things happen so she brushed it off. We waited 15 mins to be given a menu even thought only 6 tables were occupied, we oredered water, a ber and half bottle of white wine, 10 mins later the beer and wine arrived (minus the bottle cooler) we asked where is the water and were told its coming, it arrived 10 mins later with the ice bucket. we ordered anchovies on bread and a green salad, the anchovis on bread were more like cold sardines on toast and the green salad looked like something you would get from a road side restaurant, most of the contents came from a tin except for the tomatoes and lettuce. main course was paellea (stated as fresh) and a medium pepper steak, the paella was starigt out of the freezer and my pepper staek medium turned out to be a well done steak covered in rouqfort sauce with mc donalds fries on the side, after cutting into the steak and tasting it was wrong sauce i called the waiter to complain about wrong food, after looking at me as if i came from mars he agreed to change it to the correct steak, 15 mins later the plate was returned with correct sauce and the same original steak with same cut i had removed before the complaint. The steak had been washed under the tap put in the micro turning it to shoe leather, although with pepper sauce!. the waiter was again called, his reply was he didnt know what had happened in the kitchen!!! i told him to take it away and bring the bill as i was disgusted. 15 mins later he came with the menu to ask is everything ok and would we like to see te desert menu!!!!!!!!!!! my reply was " are you really serious? " I stated i want the bill minus the steak and to bring the manager to the table. 15 mins later the manager came to ask the problem, I explained about the whole scenario and he said " im shocked, im disgusted, ive never heared of such a thing, The only thing this restaurant did correctly was to not bill us for anything. This whole evening was like something from faulty towers. wild horses and starvation would not make me ever visit this place again.
Lovely Staff, beautiful hotel
We stayed here for a family wedding. The reception staff were very helpful, and spoke english (which was useful as our spanish left a lot to be desired!). The room was clean and decent sized. We decided not to have a sea view as we wouldnt be spending much time in the room, and the rooftop pool was just opposite our room, and I dont feel like we missed out. The hotel has a nice restaurant, (not cheap) but the quality of the food is excellent. The breakfast has something for everyone. It felt like the staff could not do enough for us. I would definitely go back.
