Epic Bed & Breakfast
Great room, and such a beautiful comfortable stay! The hosts were incredible and only there when needed making my stay feel like a home away from home! Amazing location with just a ferry ride (car or in foot) to downtown Kingston as well, about 300 metres to the Wolfe Inn where there is great food and live music! I'm going back!
The Blue Moose on Wolfe Island, Ontario
Katherine and James are excellent hosts. The house is strategically located on Wolfe Island with easy access to Marysville. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good with Katherine preparing both mini cinnamon buns and Blueberry muffins. I can certainly see why they have won multiple awards. I highly recommend the Blue Moose.
Amazing B & B, a Hidden Gem!
The Blue Moose gets my highest recommendation. You cannot go wrong visiting Wolfe Island and staying here. Kate's hospitality is top notch, accommodations are lovely and comfortable, and the food is delicious. All in all a wonderful atmosphere on beautiful Wolfe Island.
Must Visit
Every detail was fantastic! The food is delicious, service impeccable and an overall friendly environment! Kate and her lovely family truly make Blue Moose welcoming for its guests. If you look-up hidden gem Ina dictionary, it's this place! So glad I went and will 100% be back!
Just what you're looking for
This is the bed and breakfast you wish every other bed and breakfast had been. From the very start, communication was prompt and professional and every effort was made to accommodate our needs. A very friendly greeting upon our arrival included pointing out the baskets of available 'most forgotten items' and a tour of the lovely property. Our room and adjoining full bath were sparkling clean, tastefully decorated and full of thoughtful amenities. Breakfast was yummy all around and we ate on on the spacious screened in back porch overlooking delightful yard and garden. Though Kate knew we were there for a family reunion, she took the time to let us know special island events happening that day. This bed and breakfast is clearly run by thoughtful proprietors who care about the comfort and enjoyment of their guests. If your travels take you to Wolfe Island, this is a sure bet to make your trip memorable.
Beautiful stay!
Kate is warm and inviting and our room was super clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, complete with eggs from the resident chickens! We had a lovely stay and will definitely be coming back!!!
Excellent
The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, the atmosphere is relaxed. Each bedroom has their own bathroom and shower. Stayed for 3 nights and no complaints. Kate and family are friendly. Enjoyed our stay.
Our 50th Girls Party
A group of 13 friends, we had our 50th reunion get-together at the Blue Moose B & B on Wolfe Island. This was a fabulous venue, with hosts Kate & James, who took care of every little detail for us!! This B & B is a delight - the rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable, the food was delicious, and the house and grounds were perfect for our type of weekend party. I highly recommend this B & B to anyone!!!
Will definitely come back!
This B & B is by far the best B & B we've stayed at. The house itself is beautiful with the lake across the street with a public picnic table and bench. Beautiful location and just a couple of minutes walk to the LCBO / general store, bakery, coffee shop, boat and bike rentals and restaurants. We drove around the island and it's really beautiful. We didn't get a chance to do the corn maze as it was closed. We took the cable ferry (less than 10 mins ride) across to Simcoe Island to check out the light house. The ferry to the US from Wolfe Island was closed due to Covid so we'll definitely want to take it over to Cape Vincent, NY next time when we're back to Wolfe Island. The Kingston / Wolfe Island ferry runs every hour and it's free so that's a huge plus. The only down size is that it gets really busy and we had to be at the ferry about an hour ahead in order to ensure we can get on. The Blue Moose B & B is definitely a 5 star service thanks to Kate. Kate is such an amazing host. She made you feel right at home... so welcoming and she would go above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need and enjoy your vacation. She gave great suggestions for family activities on Wolfe Island as well as Kingston. The daily breakfasts were so good with bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, yogurt, fresh fruits etc. We would highly recommend this B & B and will definitely return. Thank you Kate!!!
Kate IS The Blue Moose
Kate's enthusiasm for running the bed and breakfast is inspiring. If ever a person was well-suited to being a host, it is Kate. She goes above and beyond on all levels to make you feel welcome and ensure that you are comfortable and have everything you need. The Inn is very clean and charming. It's a really old building, so don't expect modern. But it's quaint in all the right ways. Comfy bed, window AC, spotless bathroom. Breakfasts were homemade from scratch and most delicious. If the weather is good, you can have breakfast on the screened porch and watch the chickens roam. It's a 2-minute walk to the restaurants, bakery, and general store. Only one (Wolf Island Pizza & Pub) of 3 restaurants was open for two of the three nights we were there, so you may wish to plan accordingly for dinner. It's easy enough to hop on the ferry to Kingston for dinner if the restaurants aren't open. The island is magnificent for bicycling. There are well-maintained roads and limited traffic. The windmills are quite a sight - all 86 of them! We also kayaked but most of the shoreline on the island is private. We were only able to identify (with Kate's help) three put-in points. Big Sandy Bay is also a great place to chill. Things run on 'Island time' so if you are flexible and willing to go with the flow, Wolfe Island can be a nice, laid-back vacation.
One to return to
Could have stayed for a week. Kate is friendly and welcoming and has gone way beyond the basics anticipating every need a guest might have. Service was impeccable. Our spacious room was spotless, bedding was top quality. Loved breakfast on the screened back porch overlooking the chicken yard. That the Blue Moon is a few minutes walk from the centre of town is a bonus.
Quiet, clean and welcoming
We spent two nights at the Blue Moose over the Labour Day weekend. We were in room # 2 - king bed on main floor. Very comfortable and surprisingly quiet. Kate was so helpful from our first contact via email and all throughout our stay. They have adjusted nicely to the pandemic and we felt very comfortable with the protocols. Lots of outdoor seating on the verandah and also out back. Breakfast was fresh and there was definitely enough to eat.
Paradis sur l'île.
Un endroit magnifique avec des hôtes incroyables. Nous avons été reçues, ma fille et moi, comme des reines. L'auberge est bien située et plusieurs restaurants et lieux d'attraits sont à proximités. L'île, malgré les restrictions liées au COVID est accueillante et chaleureuse. Une expérience parfaite que je recommande. Un seul hic... si vous rester plus de deux jours et que vous voulez limiter les restaurants, apportez-vous une glacière électrique. Le dépanneur sur l'île n'offre pas beaucoup d'option, il est préférable de faire un arrêt à Kingston avant votre arrivée. A beautiful place with perfect hosts. My daughter and I were received like queens. The hostel is well located and several restaurants and attractions are nearby. The island, despite the restrictions linked to COVID, is welcoming. A perfect experience... I recommend. Just one notice.. if you stay more than two days and want to limit the restaurants, bring yourself an electric cooler. The grocery on the island doesn't offer many options, it is better to make a stop in Kingston before your arrival.
A Wolfe Island gem
Kate and James Bambury have done an excellent job of bring back a classic B & B to Wolfe Island. Now call the Blue Moose B & B. They have 7 clean, updated, well appointed rooms with en-suite. Breakfast was excellent and immediate proximity to the town and ferry make it a great location to relax and enjoy the island. I highly recommend it.
Great little vacation
We had a wonderful stay with Katherine and her family. Our room had two single beds and a queen, which fit our family of four well. Our room was very clean and Katherine went out of her way to make our kids feel welcome (e. g. she had special moose cookies waiting for them). Breakfast was a nice selection and delicious. We enjoyed eating in the screened-in porch. Our kids had fun meeting the baby chickens. We took the ferry to Kingston for a show at the Leon's centre, which worked perfectly. Thank you for a great mini-vacation. We hope to be back again.
Great weekend away
We were in Kingston for our anniversary and decided on a day trip to Wolfe Island. Had a couple bevies at the General Wolfe Inn's patio listened to some live music and decided another night over. Travelled past the Blue Moose B & B. Called them up and was greeted by the most cheerful voice. Yes, we have a room. No, just settle up when you come over. Wow. Such accommodating people. Every bit as friendly as she sounded. Kate (owner), gave us the tour of their late 1800's home. It was beautiful. Incredible view from the front porch. The room was clean and bright with an en-suite. The next morning, Kate made breakfast, not this continental crap I mean breakfast. Scrambled eggs, homemade waffles, sausages, toast and of course fresh coffee. There was yogurt and fresh berries and melons as well as some homemade pastries. This was our first trip to the " Island ", but assuredly won't be our last. Great spot great people. Thanks for everything.
