Great hotel and you're on reserve land
Spent 3 days and nights attending some training here. The room was spacious, clean, quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant serves excellent food; their soups are incredible and the fries are good too. My only complaint was that my room key was disabled every day at check out time necessitating a trip to the front desk.
Clean, Quiet, Close to all amenities
We stayed in this hotel for the MB Winter Games Mar 2018 We had never been up here before and from things we've heard we were not sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was quiet all night. The desk staff were always friendly, and the security guard was seen regularly. The only downer was the wifi was very weak in the rooms and we had to stand at the window for best reception. But overall, we would stay there again.
Mistery alright
Stayed there many times, and seen it going down hill. Noisy hallways, Funky smells in the room. The brown Duvets apparently never gets cleaned, What send me running out of the Hotel, was blood smear on the sheet. Reported it to the front desk and left. Never had a follow up call from management. Maybe this is the reason it is called Mystery hotel. You never know what you get…............... On the positive side..... The restaurant has great food and the service is excellent. On of the best in Town.
Keeping in mnd this is Thompson and limited choices this is a decent choice
After a horrible experience at the Meridian Inn. I moved to the Mystery Lake hotel. The lobby is dated but staff were pleasant and helpful. Rooms have been updated and were clean and nice. The washrooms are also updated, clean and nice. This hotel was decent I did have low expectations and they did exceed what I anticipated.
Much better than before
We've stayed at this hotel over the last 10 years and it was nice when we first visited and got a bit sketchy for a few years. On our stay this time around, it looks like the hotel has gone through staff changes and the rooms got an overhaul. Our beds were comfortable, the TV was a big, clear flat screen TV, and the bathtub was wonderful (big and deep). The bathroom itself is a bit small even for one person but manageable. Our room had a large refrigerator AND microwave. The hotel seems to still have a bad reputation and there are sometimes a few dodgy people roaming around the outside of the hotel but overall, it seems like a nice place. I would definitely recommend this place. We've always enjoyed eating at the attached restaurant (The Adventurer's North Dining Room). They have a great menu (lots of prime rib) at a reasonable price considering how far north you are. The decor is a bit dated but I always like the " old school " style of restaurants. I'm not sure if I'm staying in the " new " portion of the hotel, but this place is great.
Pretty good
I stayed in the new part of the hotel. King bed one bedroom suite. Very nice. Very new. Bed was so soft it was super comfy. Ask to stay in the new part for sure! Seen other rooms in hotel and they are a big dated and worn. Not too bad though
Discount... for a reason
Low cost but the furniture is old, the halls are loud, the tv is fuzzy. Once getting pass the cigarrette burns and stains it was actually reasonably clean. Staff were kind. It's a temporary stay not a romantic place. If you can get it cheap enough and you're only staying a day then go for it... otherwise spend a bit more.
Avoid this hotel at all costs
Our house burned down so had to stay in a hotel for a few nights while we found another place. Got to try all the hotels in town, and this one is only marginally better than the TI (Thompson Inn). The carpet in the room was so dirty that we did not dare take our shoes off until we actually got into bed. There was something smeared on the wall by the bed, and the room, which was supposed to be non-smoking, stunk of smoke and had cigarette burns on the furniture. We were originally booked for a week, but only stayed one night.
Mystery Lake Motor Hotel
2 full size beds, workout room, sauna which came in quite handy when I had a cold, and a microvawe. Your typical hotel. Nothing fancy, but by no means a dump either. Daily housekeeping, plenty of parking, and walking distance to Extra Foods. We had to go to the restaraunt to get dishes, and cutlery to eat microwavable food, but for the north I wasn't expecting much. I stayed at this place for 4 nights with a travelling tie gang for Hudson Bay Railway.
