Don't book directly! Use Expedia
Make sure you book through a website like Expedia, etc. so you can cancel. I booked directly for my girlfriend and I. Planned to stay Sept 15 -17. We were planning a road trip all through the east coast. My girlfriend has cancer and was not feeling well part way through our trip so we had to return home. I called 2 days before our arrival and was told I was too late to cancel. My card was charged for both days and I was told " if they can rent the room they'll refund me. " Zero compassion. No refund. Every other place we booked I was able to cancel. Just a word of travel advice. Don't book directly and don't expect any compassion from these people.
Great option
I had a great night's stay at Clifty Cove. It is in an excellent location near to Peggy's Cove which gives you an easy chance to dodge the crowds there, arriving early or late in the day. The room was good, the bed was comfortable and the free water was useful. The location next to the water is beautiful and there are good dining options nearby.
Good place to stay for Peggy's Cove!
Thank you Ross for staying up waiting for us. We arrived just around 11:30 pm due to weather delay on our flight. Ross emailed us ahead of our arrival to advise of our room number to get us settled in upon arrival. Room is newly renovated and has everything that you need and is spacious. Nice touch with the 2 bottles of water, chocolates and toiletries. 😊 The location is close to Peggy's Cove and allowed us to get there and leave just before all the tour bus are arriving. We get to see the rough sea before it calmed down later in the morning.
Amazing Views and Beautiful Setting!
Beautiful setting and very comfortable, accommodating room that is minutes from Peggy's Cove and close to small fishing villages including Mahones Bay and Lunenburg. We stayed in one of the rooms with a deck. The room was very inviting and decorated very well. Very comfortable bed & pillows and chairs. THE VIEW WAS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! We enjoyed sunset from both our deck and the natural deck of large granite next to the water which had Adirondack chairs. Sunrise was beautiful too-one cannot see the sunrise from this location, however all of the colors reflect wonderfully on the water and the white granite. Everyone was so nice and friendly - the owners and the housekeeping lady. Wish we could have stayed another night it was so beautiful and affordable!
OMG!! The View!!
So you want to visit Peggy's Cove, but need a place to stay !! Have I got the place for you!! CLIFTY COVE MOTEL!!!What a delightful surprise... Only a dozen rooms, but OMG when you open the curtains and walk out onto the balcony.. PEACE <TRANQUILITY <whatever you want to call it - it's there.. I opened a bottle of wine and sat and gazed for hours... the room is so clean and Stephanie at the desk is so helpful... this place is a real GEM!!!
Beautiful views
This place has an unbelievable view ! The room had everything we needed and was super clean- check in and out were both seem less. Parking right out front and a fridge in our room. Fairly close (to drive) to Peggy's Cove and Shaw's Landing restaurant. The views from the room were unbelievable.
Simple, clean motel with a warm welcome and a wonderful view
The Cliffy Cove Motel surprised us (we had reservations in a nearby hotel that had meanwhile ceased to exist) with its warm welcome, good sized room and wonderful view (once the fog cleared). It is only a few kilometers from Peggy's Cove. Nice place.
Really Disappointed
Despite the beautiful view, these accommodations were very disappointing. It was 2 degrees outside on the day of our stay and the heat was not turned on at all. It was so cold we stayed in our jackets and hats for a few hours until the room came up to temperature. The toilet was running all night long and we realized in the morning that the fridge where we put our food was not even plugged in. The bed was comfortable and the room was tidy but all in all, it was not a comfortable stay, especially for the premium price.
Best Spot We Stayed At
Spent 3 nights here (was supposed to be 2 but we actually stayed another night and changed out trip up). Used this hotel as a 'home base' for sight seeing. Owner is lovely and friendly and accommodating. We traveled with a dog who was welcomed. Rooms were the best we stayed at in Nova Scotia. Amazing view. Restaurants nearby (try Tom's Lobster Shack and Shaw's Landing), and I even went fishing (caught mackerel and pollock). Highly recommended Highly recommended.
Great seaside views n clean motel
Location here is amazing. Some rooms are larger and more expensive than others. If you can you should choose a room with a balcony to the sea views. Three stars for me because we had one of the smallest rooms (no balcony) and it had a bit of a funky smell. Didn't like that the shower was pretty much in the bedroom and there was no comfortable place to sit inside the room. That being said, it was most likely the cheapest and smallest of their rooms. Adequate place to stay for a night but for an extended stay might look elsewhere.
Great Views
Great location if you are visiting Peggy's Cove, I was able to zoom in on the lighthouse with my camera from there. Beautiful sunsets. You have chairs that you can go out and sit on to watch the water and sunsets. Plain simple room but very clean, no air conditioning, you have fridge and coffee maker in room. No regular TV, you have Netflix instead.
Wonderful location!
We loved this place! Well-appointed modern rooms with the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean just outside our back picture window. The location was just far enough away from all the action at the lighthouse to be quiet and restful, but a short drive to the big attraction.
Right on the ocean!
This is an adorable " ma and pa " motel literally on the Atlantic ocean--the view was amazing. When I looked out the window after dark I saw two working lighthouses! Our room contained two queen beds with a small table attached to the wall and two stools, a fridge and microwave. Everything was very clean. The room had a really nice shower, too. We even were treated to Netflix on the TV--how cool is that? The delightful proprietor had lived just a few miles from where I grew up in Illinois--small world....
Don't Judge by Its Cover
When we pulled into the parking lot of the Clifty Cove, we almost turned around. We were tired of mediocre bed and breakfasts and the first impression here was not very good. BUT the room was nice and clean and view from our deck was fabulous - the perfect place to sit and watch the sunset! The sunset made our stay. The only real issue we had with the room is that the bathroom is a bit small and there is no place to place your make-up, toothbrush, etc. that you bring. They really need to install a shelf within reach of the very small sink.
My Bad!!! Motel Owner's Good !!
I stupidly booked this beautiful motel...... for the wrong dates. Everything else around was full so it looked like a night in the car. However the motel owner found us a place locally via a Facebook friend and we couldn't have been more grateful. What a lovely lady, so kind and generous with her precious time. We were delighted. Many thanks.
Beautiful ocean view, quaint and clean
Loved our stay here. Wished we could have stayed longer. We had a room with a balcony. The view from our room was stunning from sunrise to sunset. Chairs on the granite shore are a great place for an adult beverage - the sound of the waves, the birds and the gentle breeze in your face is true zen. The owner and staff were so friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and the room was very clean. So quiet and dark at night. Great for sleeping and star gazing. Nice to have a fridge, microwave, recycle bin and garbage. It's is my new happy place. Note there is no AC, however there is great airflow with balcony doors, a large window on the opposite wall and a bathroom window. LOVE this motel!!!
Great place
Another great find. Fantastic location. Loved hearing the water lap on the rocks and be able to sit outside and access the water. Units updated, and very clean and neat. A few breakfast items would have been a nice touch. Walking distance to nice Acadian Cafe.
Loved waking up to the sound of the waves
Great location, very close to Peggys Cove and Polly's cove hiking trail. The motel room although small was very clean, friendly staff and had a nice balcony looking out to the bay. Really enjoyed waking up to the sound of the ocean waves and enjoying my morning coffee on the balcony. Highly recommend this place.
Gorgeous, immaculate and newly renovated
We stayed at the Clifty Cove for 2 nights. I cannot say enough about this motel. Friendly accomodating owners, room was large, immaculate and newly renovated. All that plus you are right on the ocean. There are adirondack chairs to sit and watch the beautiful sunset. We had Room # 1. It had a king size bed and its own private balcony as did the other rooms. This room had a fridge, coffee maker and a counter area with 2 stools. We kept the slider open with just the screen and listened to the ocean all night. Very close to Peggys Cove Lighthouse. There is a great restuarant that newly opened this year called the Harbour right up the street. Excellent food! We would not hesitate to come back here again and spend more time for sure.
Alice Maple Ridge BC
Great location. Deck chairs all along a cliff overlooking a beautiful bay. Great view with wonderful sunsets. Rooms were clean, comfortable and is exactly as advertised. Owners were very friendly and I would recommend this place to anybody. Not fancy but super clean, comfortable and great location.
Excellente lieu de vacances
Le service des propriétaires est magnifique, très aimables et attentifs, le service excellent et le lieu un paradis avec une vue exceptionnelle. Très près du lieu touristique light house. C'est sûre que nous retournerons.
Budget Room
We stayed here for one night. The room was more than expected for a budget room. A fridge and coffee maker was included in the room. Great view out our window. A ceiling fan was good but we never needed it as the nice ocean breeze keep us cool. A clock in the room would of been nice and also cable or satellite TV. Didn't care for the android box. We would stay here again if in the area.
Great rooms with ocean views
Stayed there for 3 nights and really enjoyed our room. Spacious, clean, ocean views from the bedroom and bathroom. You even get Apple TV with free movies on Netflix. Staff is super friendly. Two minutes drive to Peggy's Cove. We ended up going to Lunenburg for 2 whole days so next time we'll stay there (about 1:30 hour drive) - there's more to do (more restaurants, bars and beaches). But if you're looking for something quiet and peaceful, the Clifty Cove is what you need! We got to watch amazing sunsets from the Adirondak chairs they set up in the back.
We were so happy upon arrival!
I couldn't recommend the Clifty enough! Fantastic place. When we pulled in it didn't immediately look very impressive, then we saw the view. Wow! Amazing views from your balcony of your spotlessly clean, modern, well appointed room. Be sure to get a deluxe room with balcony. We were 4 guys traveling by motorcycle who stopped enroute for a one night stay; wish we could have stayed longer. The views in Peggy's Cove are stunning! BTW: the owners of this motel couldn't have been nicer!
A wonderful surprise
All I can say is WOW!! The view from our balcony was fantastic! We stayed at this motel our last night in Nova Scotia. We chose it because we wanted to stay near Peggy's Cove and so we would have an easy drive to the airport the next morning. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet and the motel's location was very convenient to the lighthouse, SwissAir Flight 111 Memorial and several excellent area restaurants (Shaw's Landing for dinner and The Finer Diner for breakfast). The drive down from Route 103 was scenic and pleasant. We had a nice relaxing evening to end our NS visit. If we go back to Peggy's Cove, we would definitely stay here again.
So Glad We Came!
This motel was an absolute gem. We've been working our way around Nova Scotia staying at motels as we go. Usually they are adequate but nothing special until we got here. The small things make all of the difference in an overnight stay. First of all, we stayed in the King bed with Balcony Room # 1. It has a cute little balcony overlooking Indian Cove. While the weather was a bit chilly, we still sat outside and had an evening drink and snacks reading. Had morning coffee on balcony overlooking the Cormorants and Sea Gulls as they fish and sun themselves. You are very close to the neighbors balcony, but who cares - we are all travelers and it make it more interesting. The beds, linens, and towels were so comfortable and soft, which is unusual for this type of lodging, it was so appreciated and noticed and made for a great nights sleep while looking out the big sliding glass door / window at Indian Cove. The shower was very big with great water pressure and the entire bathroom was well appointed and clean! There is a small table with chairs for eating and fridge, microwave and coffee / tea supplied. We drove right up to the front door so getting things in and out of the car was easy. We were really happy with our one night stay and would recommend to anyone considering it. A good value.
Great experience Hidden Gem
We called to make a reservation but we wouldn't be in until very late. They were very accommodating with the extremely late arrival. Room was very clean and cozy. Room also had a spectacular veiw you are very close to the ocean and can hear the waves clearly. We were pleasantly surprised and would definitely go back. Pictures attached are view from the room
Absolutely Beautiful
We had a group of 7 Adults and 4 children stay here. It was absolutely beautiful. The rooms are very clean and the owners are wonderful people. The view and sounds of the ocean is very calming and relaxing. I would highly recommend Clifty Cove Motel to everyone. We will definitely be back!
Oceanside Motel with a view!
This is our 3rd time staying here and we will be back. The most comfiest beds ever, rooms are so clean and stylish and welcoming! 5 rooms have their own patio! but every room has the same breath taking view, we even saw seals, and whales have been spotted! Staff is really friendly and very informative about the area. This time i decided to call them personally and make a reservation and they gave me a discount for calling!! Their phone number and email is right on their website! I've already made our reservations for this summer, we cant wait!
Very comfortable beds and upgraded rooms
Traveling with a pet is always a challenge as most places do not accept pets. I have traveled to Nova Scotia many times over the last 15 years and have stayed at the Clifty Cove Motel a number of times. Usually I chose to stay here because it was cheaper than most other places around. In the past i the rooms were very dated in desperate need of renovation. The beds had been uncomfortable. However, this time, i was very surprised. The room looked like it had been renovated relatively recently. The room was very clean and bright. The beds were the complete opposite of what my experience had been years before. I spent 3 weeks in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and i have to say the beds were within the top 3 of all the places i stayed at. I was very surprised and pleased. I did not want to get out of bed in the morning. I would recommend this motel to anyone traveling in the area. My only complaint is I find the price of the rooms to be excessively expensive. It never used to be as expensive as it currently is. Perhaps with the newly renovated room, they figure the price can be increased. In the end it is just a mom and pop motel. It is not high-end by any standard. However, considering that the motel is located 5 minutes from Peggy's Cove, I should not be surprised that the rooms are so expensive.
Diamond in the rough
What a great find. Beautiful rooms, comfortable beds, clean rooms. Sat on the adirondack chairs and watched a gorgeous sunset. Had been to Halifax and Peggy's Cove and just happened to find this online. Definitely worth the stop!
Old Fashioned Motel
A very clean version of the old fashioned drive up motel, you can indulge in nostalgia here. Rooms have been updated, and beds are good. Grab bars in bathrooms, though would recommend they get bath mats also for safety, and a chain on door for extra security. They welcomed my daughters service dog, as they have some pet friendly rooms, and also moved my daughter immediately when the first room she was in smellled of cigarettes, which aren't allowed in rooms. Rooms are a bit pricey, however, am happy to support small Canadian businesses Wonderful views on ocean, right next to Peggy's Cove
Excellent getaway
We enjoyed our stay at the Clift Cove Motel. We. visited Peggy's Cove and Halifax. The hotel is cute and well maintained. Perfect location right on the water. We ate at the local restaraunts enjoying the fresh seafood. Try the coconut pie at the Finer Diner.
Gorgeous!
We stayed here for 1 night - just driving by on our way to Peggy's Cove & saw the vacancy sign. Beautiful place. Stayed in 1 of rooms with little deck at back of your room overlooking the ocean. Room was very nice - newly renovated. Wonderful to sleep with patio doors open at night & hear the waves crashing and sea breeze into your room. Also enjoyed a spectacular sunset at back of hotel on their chairs facing the ocean. Highly recommend!
Nice location. Very clean and very basic
Bright and clean. Right on the water. Very quiet location. Short drive to Peggy's Cove. Very quiet even with the trafic A bit tricky to get into due to the blind hill and the curves in the road from both directions. Friendly owner. Comfortable beds.
Great Motel
We (2 couples) stayed here on the advice of locals to attend a nearby wedding. I would certainly stay here again. Clean, comfortable rooms with extra large windows looking out at the ocean. The owners were friendly and took great care of us. Behind the motel was a row of lawn chairs to enjoy the ocean view. As an added bonus, some local fisherman would bring their catch to a building 50 yards away for cleaning and allowed us to watch and chat.
We loved it so much we stayed another night
We were looking for somewhere close to Peggy's Cove (about 3km) Beautiful room, clean with a stunning view. We went to Peggys Cove early in the morning and it was crawling with tourists. We went back around dinner time and there was 20-30 people there. We went to Shaw's Landing as reccomended by the owner and liked it so much we went back the following night as well. It was a little pricy and a small room but you can't beat the view!! The best part was the full size towels and beautiful quilts on the bed
East Coast Paradise
The beautiful winding coastal road towards the motel already prepares you for the experience. Arriving in the early afternoon, the motel grounds quaint and clean. The air filled with ocean scent. The motel room doors and windows are open and the fresh breeze flowing beautifully thru out. The room is very clean and bathroom stocked and even cleaner. The view is worth the over 2000kms to get there. Owner was pleasant and helpful. I would certainly stay here again when in Peggy's Cove.
Fabulous!
We had a room with a balcony and the view was gorgeous! We came back in time to watch the most beautiful sunset. Owners very friendly and helpful. Recommended a great place for supper not too far away. The room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. Wonderful stay!
Awesomeness!
The owners are so friendly, the rooms were awesome and the view was out this world. One of the best experiences of our trip across Canada! Quiet and close to Peggy's Cove destination. Walkable restaurants in the area.
Convenient and roomy motel
Great location on the coast with large comfortable rooms. No food available on site but nearby restaurant is OK. Good value for the money. Very plain design of the buildings, but does have a kiddy's playpark.
Remarkable view, modern, comfortable. Perfect
We were warmly welcomed by the owner who kindly recommended a couple places to have dinner. Her cute 8 year-old daughter asked us if the Czech Republic was in the United States. The view out the back window of our room was amazing... the best of our 2-week trip to PEI and Nova Scotia. The rear window is opposite the front window so we had great seacoast air ventiliating our room all night and we did not need air conditioning. The day we arrived we unloaded our bikes from the van and rode to nearby Peggy's Cove to visit the Swissair crash memorial and to experience Peggy's Cove Lighthouse at early dusk. The next morning we again rode the bikes to Peggy's Cove for a quiet breakfast before the crowds appear. The bathroom is roomy; the shower is easy to step into without a bathtub; the shower walls are tile; the room floor is not carpeted and there was no musty smell like at other places. The owner kindly permitted us to keep our bikes in the room. There was a fridge and microwave and plenty of space to spread out. The TV worked well using an Apple TV device for viewing Netflix (the first time I've seen that used in a hotel room). The only complaint is that there is one mirror... in the bathroom. It got fogged up by the first person to take a shower. There should be another mirror installed in the room to use while the bathroom is in use. If we ever come back to Peggy's Cove we'll certainly stay here again!
Great location & Clean
We decided to stay here based on previous reviews on Tripadvisor. It was a great little motel. When we checked in, we were offered a bigger and better room. All rooms have ocean views and what was really neat was that the motel is next door to a fishing hut. In the morning we walked over to watch a fisher prepare bait on a long line for halibut fishing. It was very interesting. The motel is in neighbouring Indian Harbour, about 5 min from Peggy's Cove. I did a morning walk to the cove and it took roughly 30 minutes. The owners are very friendly and live next door also. The room was very clean and is equipped with a bar fridge and a microwave. The balcony faces the sea, unfortunately there was a light fog when we stayed. It was a perfect little stop. No frills, but a fabulous location and fantastic view.
Amazing Sunsets
We stayed her for 1 night while visiting Halifax and Peggy's Cove. The motel is in the process of a complete renovation on the outside and the front is complete and looks fantastic. The room was fully renovated and had everything that was needed for a 1night stay. The best part is the view in the back and the amazing sunset views. Could have stayed much longer. The motel is also super clean. Well worth the price paid!
Wonderful!
A sparkling clean room with an absolutely gorgeous view. There are adirondack chairs placed for enjoying the view, and chatting with other guests if you are inclined. The host was very helpful, gave us an air mattress for my son, and made relevant and appropriate recommendations for things to do and places to eat. 5 minute drive to Peggy's cove. Also, price was better when I booked directly through the motel, vs priceline. My only negative is that it was pricy for a motel, in my opinion. Maybe it was because I booked last minute, but the bill was almost $200, when taxes were included.
Lovely location
Charming family run motel in an amazing location. Rooms are average but the view is exactly what one wants from an ocean side motel. Comfy outdoor chairs invite guests to sit and watch the sea. The rooms are rather expensive for the degree of finish, but the location is the key. Easy walking to the lovely Rhubarb resturant just up the road.
Don Kraemer
Absolutely stunning view of the east coast and close to the Peggy's cove light house. The owners are phenomenal and very friendly and went the extras mile on our very first night. Highly recommend anyone out visiting in Nova Scotia visit stop in at this location. It is well worth the price and visit.
Details
What a gem. Rooms were spotless and well appointed. We were in room 2 with a solidly built balcony. The room had to be recently renovated as furniture, bed, windows, and fixtures were modern. The view out to sea is beautiful. We fell asleep to the distant waves and the faint sound of sea bouy bell on a very comfortable king sized bed. This motel would be tough to top!
Great motel
As others have said much better inside than it looks when you drive up. We got the balcony room but never used the balcony because the have Adirondacks on the beach 50 feet from the hotel. More breeze on a hot day. I would have gone for excellent except for two things. The folks on the next balcony were smokers so we got 2nd hand into our room and the bedding smelled of someone else's aftershave. Points for improvement.
Relaxing and Scenic
Every room has a view of the ocean and is less than 100m from the water. The outside of this seasonal motel looks somewhat dated, but inside is modern and clean. Its locked about 3km from Peggy's Cove and is somewhat isolated in the evening but there is a fantastic restaurant called " rhubarb " 300 meters away
Breathtaking views
Clean, newly remodeled. Excellent views and room; meticulously renovated. Wish our 2 night stay could be extended! Breakfast restaurants not too far down the road; in-room coffee provided. Gas, Grocery and liquor stores not often found, so stop when you see one rather than wait for something closer.
Serene, picturesques location
We had a balcony in Room 5, but it went unused as the weather did not cooperate. But we had a wonderful view from the sliding doors in our room. This room had a shower only which was great for us. Beds are comfortable. My only complaint is the hard wood " counter stools " at a small table. I found them uncomfortable and could not sit in one for very long. Double adirondack chairs in bright colors outside each door. Lovely planters with live flowers also.
Great place to stay!
We came upon this motel and ended up staying for a week! The owners are super friendly and helpful. The room was great - very clean and comfortable. The bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in! Truly a gem! Would highly recommend this motel!
Anniversary Vacation
This was our first real vacation since our 3 day honeymoon 31 years ago. We arrived to find a beautiful room, with an amazing ocean view. On the table was a bottle of Nova Scotia red wine, 2 wine glasses and an anniversary card. The entire staff was amazing. Can't thank them enough for the way we were treated. Would definitely stay again, but for more than the 4 nights that went by far too quickly. Highly recommend! Rick & Jen M.
Last Minute Amazing Find!!
Found this motel on a last minute whim to spend the night in Peggy's Cove at the end our of vacation. Under new management and recent (and on going) room renovations, this place offers stunning views where you can fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the ocean. All rooms have views of the ocean and half (approx 4-5) have balconies oceanside. Motel is located within a 1km walking distance from the Swiss Air Memorial site, convenience store with NLSC and delicious Rhubarb Restaurant (also highly recommended!).
Clean, comfy beds, close proximity to Peggy's Cove Lighthouse!
My husband and I stayed here during our East Coast Tour this past June. I had found this motel online on when I had been booking our overnight stays for our 14 day trip. We were happy to find that the rooms were clean as was the bedding, and the beds were comfy. Our unit had a little deck at the back with two chairs and a small table, facing the ocean. We enjoyed relaxing there after supper. It was foggy and chilly at that time, but we bundled up and enjoyed the view. The price was reasonable. There is no place to eat here, but the friendly owner suggested a restaurant close by for our supper. We liked that we were so close to Peggy's Cove and the Swiss Air Memorial, just a few minutes drive away. Peggy's Cove had a nice restaurant with a well-stocked gift shop so we drove back there for breakfast the next day. We would recommend this motel!
Newly renovated, very comfortable and the view - SPECTACULAR!
We left Peggy's Cove quite late and had no idea where we were going to stay. We drove past this past the first time, as it seemed not to be open. But went back to ask at the front desk to see if they were open. We were greeted by a very friendly and most helpful owner that actually put us up for the night even though they had closed for the season. What a great place to lay our heads that night. Quiet, newly renovated room with a view to die for!.. right in a bay with the true Nova Scotia shanties near by. So glad she was able to help us out and would totally recommend to stay here!
Quick trip to Peggys Cove
Great little motel with the basics well covered. Clean sheets and room, comfy bed, good shower, great location, good price. Some rooms are pet friendly. Some rooms have a small deck facing a fishing dock and some boats. Friendly owners. Would go back.
Wonderful Gem
We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the door and entered our room. The motel is older but has been completely remodeled. It is exceptionally clean, modern and tasteful. A beautiful view of the ocean that we enjoyed from the small deck. The owner was friendly and helpful. Would recommend this place.
Heaven on Earth
This is a little slice of Heaven on St. Margaret's Bay. The rooms were clean and cozy with modern features. The view is exceptional... a million dollar view for a very reasonable rate. The owners are what make this jewel of a motel a gem. 5 stars for sure.
Great little base to explore the costal areas
I just finished reading the negative reviews and somewhat disagree with them. I suppose it does matter which room you choose. I had a king room. It was clean and comfortable. There was a fridge and microwave. Ceramic tile at the entrance. I did have a bit of problem figuring out my TV, but I wasn't there to watch TV anyway. I was there for 3 days and was perfectly happy. We had a wind storm while I was there and I thoroughly enjoyed spending some time out on my little deck watching the churning waves. The location is great for exploring the costal area. There were some nice restraunts and a convenience store near by. The owners were very friendly and helpful with lots of local knowledge. If you are looking for 5* accommodations stay in Halifax. This was a wonderful little base for my explorations around the area. I will stay again.
Very enjoyable
Hosts were very courteous and eager to help. I found the rooms to be of good size and clean. The view is spectacular from the balcony and located within a few minutes from the Swissair Flight 111 Memorial and Peggy's Cove lighthouse. We are planning on staying there again next summer. A bit pricey even in the off season but it is the closest motel to Peggy's Cove.
A night here is a MUST
I stayed here on an overnight trip to explore Peggy's Cove. It's a quaint motel where every room has an amazing view of the little harbour. It's only a 5 minute (or less) drive to Peggy's Cove and you are right on the water. I was able to watch the sunset and then the sunrise at Peggy's Cove and still get back for a few more hours of sleep. The room had everything I needed, the bed was comfortable, there was a table and 2 chairs along the back wall where you could sit and listen to the ocean. There were a few adirondack chairs and a fire pit out on the rocks for people to enjoy. The room had Apple TV and wifi - didn't try the tv, the wifi was a little slow depending on where you were in the room. I brought fish and chips back from Sou'Wester restaurant at Peggy's Cove and sat listening to the waves lap up onto the rocks. I would definitely stay here again if I'm in the area, it was a gorgeous setting and the price was very reasonable for the area.
Beautiful Location, Friendly Service
We were a little nervous about booking a motel with online information only, but we are so glad that we did. When we walked into the room, my wife's face lit up. She declared, " I don't care what else we have planned, I'm not leaving this room! " The room was beautifully decorated, very clean and smelled nice. The highlight of the room was the balcony. Rhonda sat out there for hours watching the sun go down and listening to the ocean waves. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Rhonda has some challenges with walking and standing for long. The step into the room was a little bit difficult, but they went above and beyond in unexpected ways to make our stay more comfortable. Staying here was one of the highlights of our trip to the east. We only stayed one night, but wish we could have stayed longer. If we come to Nova Scotia again, we will schedule our trip to include a stay for a few days.
Great Location
I needed an affordable room for a one night stay near Peggy's Cove, and the Clifty Cove Motel fit the bill. It is an older motel, but the room was nice and clean. It is right on the ocean; great view from my window. It is also a few minute drive to the Peggy's Cove lighthouse. The owner was very friendly. The only negatives are minor -- the towels were old and a bit musty, and the room got pretty cold -- but that was my fault for not turning the heat on before I went to bed. There aren't many places to eat later in the evening and early in the morning nearby, so plan accordingly. I would stay there again.
Stay at Clifty Cove Motel
Beautiful place to stay, nice and clean, friendly owners.. enjoyed the most beautiful sunset and a fire on the rocks with other quests and the owners. A much needed enjoyable stay and will be returning again soon.
Great Views, Fun Place to Stay
Close enough to Peggy's Cove Lighthouse, but far enough away from the maddening crowd. The couple that owns this are fun and caring people. The rooms are beautiful, with each one having an incredible view out the back window. It is very clean and inviting and the grounds are well kept and pretty. I enjoyed my stay there and would certainly go back the next time I am in Nova Scotia. A short 5 minute ride to the " Light ". A short 40 minute drive from Halifax, but worlds away in the scenery and ambience.
enjoyed my stay
I stayed here 32 years ago with my parents when I was 12. I loved it then and I loved it there now. Nice, clean room. Nice view The owners were friendly and helpful. I loved talking to them. They were very helpful even before my arrival making suggestions and answering questions by phone and email. Enjoyed talking them while I was there. I loved my room and the view. Loved being close to Peggy's Cove and the lighthouse which was just down the road. I wish I could have stayed longer especially since the sun didn't make an appearance until the day I was checking out. I will be back again and I hope next time mother nature decides to be a bit more kind.
Good basic motel room, low rates, million-dollar view!
We came across this place by chance, and we were going to pass on it because it wasn't listed in our AAA trip book, but the waterfront location was so stunning that we decided to give it a shot. We were very glad we did! It's a mom & pop place with very basic rooms - no phone, no fridge, but with comfortable beds, cable tv, and a shower with good water pressure - and strictly non-smoking. It's about two miles from Peggy's Cove and right on the ocean, and we were amazed to find a room in such a great location for only $71. Canadian per night. The room was very clean and we had no noise issues from other guests either night we were there. They were all first-floor rooms - I believe there were 10 units. I would definitely stay there again.
Clifty Cove Motel, read this!
We stopped on July 6th, 2009. By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07 / 26 / 09We had been driving the costal highway all day from the east, stopped here to check the room rates, 96.05 Canadian dollars per night. Desk clerk, her home is attached to the office, not friendly at all. About 830pm, she tells us everything, including the restaurant closes at 9pm in Peggy's Cove. We rushed back to it and got in just before closing. Showed back up at Clifty Cove at 10:20pm. Lady who runs the motel was hateful, she said she stated earlier that check in time is 10pm, and didn't want to let us look at the room first, the outside does look rather aged. So, we sign up, go to our room, outta there. The outside makes the drab, ancient furniture, and the warped old brown paneling on the wall downright depressing. We went back in under six minutes according to reciepts and asked for a refund. Motel lady was nasty hateful telling us we were quiet the nuisance. We had been polite with her at all times. She snatches a booklet out of her drawer telling me she couldn't give a refund then late admitted she didn't know how. Read her instruction book for the card machine for at least 10 minutes, keys everything in, and tells us a refund is complete. I told her the reciept was another charge, not a refund, she basically told us it was a refund, and she was locking the door. We left, GPS'ed back 15 minutes to Big Lake Lodge @ 5849 Hwy 333 in West Dover Nova Scotia. Clean, overlooks a big beautiful lake, man who owns the place lives there is very pleasant, happy to get up past 11pm and rent us a room for 98.31 in Canadian dollars. Got home, two charges for Clifty Cove on the credit card. So because the lady? at Clifty Cove lies now and said one charge is valid we have to send all the reciepts, Visa finds it interesting as well that we have a reciept the same night for another hotel. Moral of this story, unless you like drab run down hotels, with a hateful desk clerk to match, don't bother stopping at Clifty Cove on your otherwise beautiful drive through Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia. It was the one and only bad experience we had on the whole two week trip in Nova Scotia, honestly. [--]
Clean & Wonderful view
we did not expect this as we were travelling out of Peggy's Cove to come across this wonderfully clean motel. The owner was very hospitable and friendly to us. The rate wasv very reasonable and we had no problem getting a room right away. The owner was very knoledgable about the area and we were very comfortable all night without any noise. It was nice to wake up to see a wonderful calm ocean view right from your back window. Thank you my Chek friend.
Terrible Stay
We needed a hotel close to Peggy's Cove and we didn't have a lot of options. For some strange reason this place had ok reviews. So I'm writing this review to warn people and tell the real situation. Yes it was close to the light house and we had the ocean as a view. But the room was dirty and smelled like urine. The wifi was dodgy. The washroom wasn't clean. There were a few bugs. The towels were paper thin and smelled disgusting. The bed was so uncomfortable. There is no AC. Just a fan. The bed and pillows were so uncomfortable. I couldn't sleep and when I finally fell asleep I woke up with aching body because of how uncomfortable the bed was. They had only 1 night stand and 2 lights both on one side. There were no electrical plugs in the washroom And only one side had 1 plug available. How can both my husband and I charge our phones and iPads. And to top it off it cost is over $180CAD. I mean this place is in need of so much upgrade and cleaning and everything to make it worth that much $$. I was so disappointed and I Want everyone to know so that they are not shocked like we were.
MUST-y Sea View
Location wise, you can't get much closer to Peggy's Cove. The motel also has a lovely ocean view and you can hear the waves crashing at night. Reception was very friendly and quick. Apple TV in the rooms but wifi was dodgy at best. Room was not a bad size, and furnishings fairly modern. Room was clean but very musty! Bed was comfy but linens were a bit damp. I understand its due to being next to the ocean, but an addition of a dehumidifier or air conditioner would make the world of difference!
The Best, Best Place stay!!!
Don't be deceived by the unassuming quaint looks of this little motel - They meet and surpass many of the bigger chain motels! We were WOWED by the location - the views - breathtaking!!! We were completely bowled over with the warm and efficient welcome we got from the family who owns and manages the Clifty Cove. The rooms (we have 4 generations of our family travelling and booked 2 rooms). VERY clean - modern, comfortable - lovely décor... every amenity you could hope for - SUCH a nice peaceful atmosphere - Honestly - we would come back again just to stay here! Peggy's Cove and the surrounding area - so much to see. Ten stars!!!!
Location, location, location... Magnificent
This small (16 units), family-run motel is a gem. The rooms are clean, spacious, well-appointed, with free WiFi and parking at your front door. The views from the windows are spectacular. It is an oceanfront location, within walking distance from Peggy's Cove and nearby restaurants. The new young European innkeeper is charming and understands the meaning of hospitality.... she and her husband are beginning to update / modernize the building and will make it even more welcoming over the coming years, but right now it is well worth a visit. In fact, I extended my stay here for an additional night as I was so impressed by the view. You can sit out by the ocean and enjoy the view (and a glass of wine) at anytime..... the view is awesome I recommend it highly.....
Pleasant, but rough around the edges
There aren't too many hotel / motel-type accommodations close to Peggy's Cove, which is where we needed to be. (There are several B & Bs, but we needed flexible breakfast hours). I was leery about a 2-star, older, side-of-the-road motel, but our options were limited, the reviews were great and the price was reasonable. Upon our arrival we were greeted warmly and our room looked clean and pleasant. It had a refrigerator, microwave, a nice TV and an updated toilet in an otherwise 1040s-style bathroom. I believe a real effort is made to present the place well. However, at the risk of sounding a bit snooty, there was a feeling of " amateurishness " about it. And over the course of our 4-night stay, this feeling panned out. While we did get clean towels each day, found the bed straightened and our trash emptied, there was something missing and that something can best be described as professionalism and attention to detail. I'm referring to cleaning out the dead insects and webs that accumulate between window and screen; vacuuming or sweeping each day (there's no carpeting or throw rugs, or mats, and crumbs, etc. left in the morning are still there when you return later in the day) ; soap stubs are still in the shower; there are no tissues in the room. I know this all sounds picky, but things like that can leave a bad taste. Still, this is far from a terrible option. In fact, the beds are very comfortable and the location is ideal. I just think a little more effort could make a world of difference.
Doesn't reflect most reviews
Booked the Clifty Cove based on Trip Adviser reviews. After staying there I would say that many reviewers expectations were far different than mine. The Clifty Cove Motel is very basic. When people write about their " private deck " understand that this is an exaggeration of the truth. Half of the 12 rooms have a 4'x4' little deck that is right beside the neighbours deck and isn't private at all. The Clifty Cove is the genre of a no tell motel. If basic is what you are looking for, then you can get it here. Expected more for $129.00 plus tax.
a view to die for!
On a motorcycle trip and spotted this place- looked ordinary enough until we noticed we could look straight through to an unbelievably beautiful view behind it. So glad we found it! Comfy, clean, friendly, perfect. Andl we were directed by the owner to " The Finer Diner " right up the road- another great place. Would definitely go back Connie & Chris Wolf, Athens, Ohio
Thanks for caring!!
After booking a room for two nights, I suddenly had to cancel due to my husband's medical condition. They were most accommodating, with no charge for making that change. Upon arrival, Caramilla (spelling) noticed that my husband had limited mobility and upgraded us to a King-size bed from a Queen without charge, because it was an end unit that would be quieter. As well it was a room without carpeting, so that there was less chance of my husband tripping. The room has a lovely view of the ocean, we could see guests enjoying a campfire in the evening and it was quiet and peaceful. We were greeted again in the morning and asked if we had a good night before we left. Very kind and caring people. If we have the opportunity, we will definitely be back. A lovely stay, without breaking the bank!!!
First Visit to Nova Scotia
Our first stop in Nova Scotia was the Clifty Cove Motel. The owner was very helpful in directing us to a place to eat. The room was clean and roomy. Not sure why there was an electrical outlet at the ceiling. The Ocean front view was lovely especially at night when we could see the lighthouse lights flashing. This location was especially convenient to Peggy's Cove.
A Scenic Oasis
We wanted to explore the Peggy's Cove area as we hadn't been there in many years, and this motel was centrally located so we could visit a variety of places. It had all the necessary amenities and best of all, had a balcony with a view of the water.
Near Peggy's Cove
Not a fancy place, but clean with a beautiful view. Backyard is right on ocean. Owners are very nice and accommodating. Exterior is ok, but interior is clean and slightly updated. Would recommend for a night. Not sure I would be comfortable for a week. But definitely consider it when visiting the Peggy's Cove area.
Fantastic view; nice people
On our way to Peggy's Cove we found that lovely Motel with the very nice and helpful owner. Our room was newly renovated and extremly clean, with a tasteful interior. From our balcony we had an awsome view we will never forget. Whenever you are in this Region a stay is a must!
Great place to stay. Very accomodating
We drove from ontario in one day so we were running very late for check in (it was like 10:30 p. m!!) called ahead and they said no problem. They were very kind when we got there despite us being so late. Room was great, super clean and well cared for. And we had our dog with us as well which was not a problem. Amazing views from behind the motel.
Wenn man in herrlicher Umgebung mal abschalten will
English summary: wonderful quite little motel directly on the coast with stunning view, peggys cove at walking distance; nice, clean and renovated rooms, wifi, little fridge. Young owner famely was georgios!!! Absolute Empfehlung! (Und bei mir heißt das schon was :))
Clifty Cove Motel
If you are always closeted in warm clothing to offset the cold in Canada, then it is prudent to escape to a sea side holiday. The Clifty Cove Motel in Halifax is just the place with glorious views of the sea from your rooms. Looking out from your hotel window the Atlantic Ocean is there in all its majesty only for you. Not just the view but also the sounds of the sea and the sea breeze invigorate you. The motel is so located that you could easily do day trips to Bridgewater, Lunenburg or Halifax. The motel is squeaky clean perhaps due to the involvement of the enlightened and friendly owners who go out of the way to make you comfortable. The food is decent and the service excellent. For a good and comfortable stay with basic amenities the hotel is priced just right and you would not be disappointed.
Sleep listening to the waves
I've stayed at the Clifty Cove 3-4 times over 20 years and love the place. It's not fancy but it's super clean, comfortable and the sound of the sea from your room is soothing. The view from your window offers great sunsets. The lady who operates the motel is very helpful and kind. Super location, close to everything in the Peggys Cove area.
Holiday
2nd time we have stayed here and loved it!! We toured from Ontario on our Harley and had the best treatment and an incredible holiday. Great views, close to incredible bike routes. We will be back, Thank you. Emily
Pleasant place to stay in Pegggy's Cove
This motel is a very good place to stay while visiting Peggy's Cove. It is a five minute drive to the lighthouse. The motel overlooks the ocean, and all of the rooms have this view. About half of the rooms have small balcony and chairs. There are also chairs and a picnic table outside overlooks the rocks and ocean. A great place to watch the sunset. The rooms are large and well equipped with a fridge, coffee maker, etc. This is a family run business and the owners are interesting to chat with and very willing to provide input and directions for the local area. We enjoyed our time here and do recommend it.
Absolute Paradise
We stayed for 3 nights and wish we could've stayed forever. Very basic but exceptionally clean. Great rates and friendly proprietors made for a pleasant stay. Very close to Peggy's Cove. If you'd just like to relax, you can take a beer with you and sit behind the motel in their Muskoka chairs and just watch the ocean. Amazing. A few nice restaurants close by all with the typical down east laid back feel. Thinking about going back this summer for a week or 2.
Seaside room
The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. The bedding smelled of fresh washed laundry. The motel is right on St. Margaret's Bay... close enough to listen to the waves at night.
Fantastic ocean view
Older but spotless. Very friendly managers. 3 Minutes from Peggy's cove. Good value for your money.
Ocean view
We stayed for two nights. It was very nice place to stay with ocean view. Rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. Quiet motel with great hospitality. The manager was very friendly and welcoming. We certainly will be back.
A place close to heaven
We stayed at the Clifty cove for a night while on a bike trip throughout Nova Scotia. The owners are amazing people and took care of our every need. No rush for check out, showed us " local " walking paths and made us feel so welcome. This place is a must stay, clean clean clean rooms, amazing views, close to Peggy's Cove. Top 2 places we stayed while on our 12 day trip. Thanks for your hospitality Clifty Cove! We will be back!!!
A gem convenient to Peggys Cove and Swissair monument
This is a small motel which is an absolute gem! Don't let the outside deter you, the rooms are modern! The outside is welcoming and well maintained and it sits right on the water. There are a few rooms which have balconies on the water side but we did not get one but had a very large picture window. There is some nice seating behind the hotel though so you can go and have a glass of wine while watching the water / sunset. The room was very clean, clean, clean! The bathroom was very modern, with a great shower. The owner was very helpful with information in the area and gave us a couple of tips of timing to go to the attractions. It is 5 minutes to Peggys Cove and 3 minutes to the Swissair monument. There are quite a few restaurants in the area, for all tastes and budgets.
QUIET UDATED MOTEL WITH A GREAT VIEW
Stayed for one night after making reservations over the internet. Everything was great. We had a two bed room with small balcony with a wonderful view out over the ocean. Room was obviously recently renovated and was functional and very clean. Beds were great as well.
Comfortable and clean
We stayed here 2 nights and it was the perfect location for visiting the area.... Peggy's lighthouse and surrounding areas and even a small beach. My only complaint is no nightstands or lamps which would be cheap additions and which most people consider an essential by beds... however it was quiet, clean, and comfortable with a fantastic seating area overlooking the water... great little place! Very nice owners!!
Simple and sweet place to stay
I attended a Plein Air Painting event at Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia in July of this year. I stayed a the nicest small motel just up the road... Clifty Cove Motel. The room was tidy and simple but very cozy. The owners are a lovely family that made you feel at home and were available whenever needed. And they have plans to add to their amenities soon. I would highly recommend the Clifty Cove!
Great location. Pleasantly surprised!
Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the rooms are a great size and nicely renovated. Rooms were very clean. Only downside was no air conditioning, but the fan and sea breeze worked just fine. Owner was very pleasant.
Closest to Peggy's Cove
We stayed two nights and were able to go to see sunset at Peggy's Cove. Well furnished with comfortable beds. Ceiling fan kept us cool since there is no air conditioning, which is common so close to the ocean. Enjoyed deck looking over the water. Housekeeping cleaned our room daily. Great spot. Also a convenience store is very near and has NSLC available.
Almost made it
We were booked here for our first nite in Nova Scotia but unfortunately with airline delays we did not arrive until the next day. When I called to cancel, the owners were very understanding. I was prepared to pay a penalty for the late cancelation but they were kind enough to waive the fees. We were able to drive by on our way to Lunenburg the next day. The Clifty Cove is in a great location & is definitely on our to stay our next visit to Nova Scotia.
Cute little motel
Cute little strip motel close to Peggy's Cove. Price was ok but we stayed in a nicer, similar place in Cheticamp for almost 50$ less so in comparison it seemed a tiny bit steep for what you get, but the room was nicely renovated and clean. The ocean view is beautiful and you can sit on your balcony and enjoy it! The bed was very comfy, we had a king. Other amenities were microwave and mini fridge. We ate lobster at nearby Ryers, just left of the motel over " the hump " :) but get there before 4pm or they won't serve you! Overall good motel, nothing fancy but clean and functioned well for us.
A wonderful place to stay!
We stayed at the Clifty Cove Motel and it was everything we hoped for... and then some! We definitely would highly recommend it! The newly renovated room was perfect. It was spotless and it had a little fridge and microwave to store snacks. The ocean view from our balcony was amazing and we spent every night taking in the view while relaxing with a beverage. I can't say enough about the friendly owners, they truly go out of their way to make your stay pleasant, comfortable and fun. Their friendly hospitality is second to none. We felt very welcomed and at home. We had our 4 year old daughter with us and she enjoyed the little playground (and the company that went with it:) She also loved playing on the huge granite rocks by the ocean. Peggy's Cove is literally down the road. A perfect spot to stay. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!!!
1 night stay
at first glance, this is a lovely stop. the views are wonderful. the room is clean & has the basics. the owners are super nice & have worked to make this a nice place. there are only, I think 12 rooms. very close to Peggy's Cove. we were disappointed to run out of hot water. I take short shower & it got cold 1 / 2 way thru. my husband had a total cold shower.
Paradisiaque
Un endroit superbe, sans prétention, calme, propre, invitant, une vue sans pareille sur un panorama grandiose. Des hôtes accueillants et chaleureux. Un petit coin de paradis. Tout était absolument parfait. Je le recommande fortement.
Wonderful little motel
Very friendly owners, clean rooms, great views. Listen to the ocean as you fall asleep. Or spend the evening on their beach with a fire and friends. Close to Peggy's Cove and only an hour from Halifax.
Little Peace Of Heaven
My husband and I booked this place months ago. What a great place to stay. The owners were awesome. Our room was a 5 star. The view from our balcony was beautiful. Sat down by the rocks. Very quiet and peaceful. Three minute drive to Peggys Cove. Restaurants close by. We will definitely stay here again.
Beautiful View
Beautiful location. Older motel under renovation. Friendly owners. Large clean rooms, with great views. Right on the water. Would stay there again. Very close to the Peggy's Cove light house, Convenience store and liquor store as well as many restaurants.
Reasonable price and great views!
This is the closest Motel to Peggy's Cove. The price is average and it is very very clean and recently updated. Each room has a fabulous view overlooking the ocean. They provide a wonderful spot to sit outside overlooking the ocean so you can watch the sun rise and set. They even provide a place to have a fire. My daughter and I sat in the chairs having a picnic before heading off to Peggy;s Cove. I would strongly suggest this Motel..... its a diamond in the rough.
Home Away From Home
" Clifty Cove Motel is a wonderful quiet home away from home. Janmilla was a gracious hostess, doing whatever she could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms are clean and well appointed, with decks right on the sea. If you want a wonderful place to stay, away from the crowds of Peggy's Cove, this is the place for you. A variety of dining options nearby complete the picture. "
Beautiful setting
We loved the location of this motel. It was clean and the owner was very friendly. We had a little problem getting our hot water to work properly for the shower but it wasn't a big deal. I would definitely go back!
Right on the water!
The Clifty Cove Motel was wonderful! Although it was cool overnight, we left our window open so we could hear the ocean by far the majority of the night. The room was clean as was the bathroom - it is not a " fancy " place, but it was exactly what we were looking for.
Amazing
We stayed at the Clifty Cove Motel for 2 nights during a road trip of the East Coast. I would highly recommend this motel to anyone travelling in the Peggys Cove area. The rooms were very well kept and comfortable, with a view to die for!! We really enjoyed being able to have a bon fire at night. The owners were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Amber & Matt, Midland, Ontario
Location is Good
This a very dated motel. The room we had was the least expensive and was very small. The bathroom was in one closet and the shower was in another closet. The TV is net flicks and is a little slow as the whole hotel is on the same net flicks server... expect some delays. No cable TV here. We had a view out of a little window but it was as clean as it could be for the date and furniture placement in this little room. Close to the Swiss Air Memorial Park.
Great view; near beautiful Peggy's Cove
The owner was nice and helpful. The rooms are comfortable. The view is fantastic. Only a few miles from delightful Peggy's Cove. There is nothing about Clifty's Cove that I wouldn't recommend. It's off the beaten path and well worth the drive.
Passing through
Yes I read your review and decided to give it a try. This small motel is modern inside, nicely decorated and comfortable bed. The view is spectacular. Close to Peggy's cove. The family owned motel staff is friendly and helpful. We will be back
Beautiful spot, breathtaking views!
Location of motel is perfect, not far from the attractions. Room was newly renovated, very clean and great view from our room. Loved having a balcony looking out at the ocean. Owners very friendly. Would highly recommend this place for sure! 👍🏻😁❤
Enjoyed our stay
Clifty Cove was just want we wanted. A beautiful view from our room, with chairs on the bluff for viewing the water, boats and birds. There were also chairs on the opposite side of the rooms. The hostess was especially nice. She made a small fire out on the bluff and invited guests. We really enjoyed the evening. The room was clean; we had everything we needed. She told me that wireless was not working in the room but it would work if we got closer to her office. They were working on a getting a new router so this was a temporary situation, I understand. But with the view and Peggy's Cove just down the road, we had no desire to look at the internet.
