EL PEOR SERVICIO
La peor experiencia de toda mi vida, hay restaurantes malos y esta cosa!! Servicio terrible, se espero 52 minutos para una jarra de limonada, un locro de papa y un churrasco, NO ES EXAGERACIÓN!! EL PEOR RESTAURANTE DE QUITO!
Pésimo nos enfermó la comida
Pésimo hoy me vendieron carne de res y pollo dañada, a pesar de que sabían que el producto se dañó por descongelación me lo pusieron en o plato. Gracias por dañar mi cumpleaños
Péssimo atendimento
Atendimento péssimo, demora absurda para chegada dos pratos, comida voltou duas vezes por estar fria. Garçom e até o chefe saem a todo momento do restaurante para comprar itens faltantes. Muitos clientes para pouquíssimos funcionários.

Son platos normales para el precio; la pasta poco y mal cocida, los raviolis parecían los de funda precocidos y bueno, las alitas salvaron la tarde.
A good restaurant in a nice setting
This restaurant is a good one with a wonderful ambiance. It sits at the corner of an inner courtyard within a building that has been converted into commercial uses. It was originally the Archbishop of Quito's residence in colonial times. There were four of us. We started with drinks and then evolved into dinner. I had a hamburger and others had salad and ceviche. The food was good. The price was reasonable. Very good value.
Excelente sabor
Pedimos una hamburguesa fogonero al carbon y unos camarones a la parrilla. Ambos platos tuvieron buena sazón, buena presentación, y buenas porciones. Pensamos en ordenar papas extras pero no fue necesario. Mi plato, la hamburguesa al carbon estuvo excelente! Era exactamente lo que buscaba, la carne acompañada con tocino, champiñones, queso, tomate, papas fritas, estuvieron en su punto. Los camarones a la parrilla estuvieron muy bien equilibrados en su condimento, muchas veces uno encuentra este plato con sabores muy cargados pero aqui estuvieron muy bien! La atención fue amable, y el tiempo de espera fue el acostumbrado. El vaso de jugo es de buen tamaño. Recomiendo este lugar a quienes gustan de los platos a la parrilla y a buenos precios, quedaran satisfechos con su visita.

Lugar hermoso, comida buena
La experiencia en general estuvo muy bien. La casona es preciosa, lo que le da puntos extras, la atención esta bien, felizmente no estaba muy lleno, por lo que nos ayudaron a acomodarnos con una silla de ruedas, aunque la casona no tiene facilidad de acceso con silla. La comida estuvo muy bien, la sopa riquisima. Los precios de bebidas, sobre todo de cervezas, muy caro!
Bueno, para pasar y punto
La persona que nos atendió no parecía tener mucho interés en su trabajo. Comimos normal, nada del otro mundo. Quizás la relación calidad precio no está compensada. El sitio, eso sí, es muy agradable en las mesas que dan al patio.
Great food with great service
Great food with great service at a relaxed pace. This is not fast food don't be in a hurry just have a beer or glass of wine and enjoy the atmosphere. We got the meat sampler plate, I can't remember exactly what it is called, but it was delicious. The staff was very friendly. And even though our Spanish is poor to nonexistent they made us feel very welcome. Don't miss this place on your next trip to Quito.
Easy place to relax
We met our friends here for drinks and pasta and were taken good care of with efficiency and comfort. The surroundings only enhanced the experience with music and culture. We had just arrived in Quito but instantly relaxed at this charming place.

観光客向けで、ちょっと値段は高いが、基本的なエクアドル料理の食べられるお店です。 内装デザインは'60年代のアメリカ。 日曜日の夜で、他に開いている店が少なかたのでここを選択しました。 料理やサービスは十分なレベルですが、他の地元向けのレストランと比べると、値段が高いです。地元向けのレストランは早い時間に閉まることが置いので、その場合の利用が良いでしょう。

Deliciosa comida, magnífica atención atención y una linda decoración, realmente recomiendo este lugar.
Shocking food
After a fantastic day in Quito we went to this quiet restaurant for a spot of dinner. We ordered Sirloin steak which tasted like reconstructed meat and had a green colour to it, pork ribs for my son also had a green colour and my wife had Strip steak which was actually very good. The service wasn't great either but the food was absolutely terrible I wouldn't have given that sirloin to a dog!! Feeling very ill now I'd suggest Quito food hygiene check out their kitchen.
Visita obligada al restaurant Juan Fogonero
Siempre resulta una experiencia gratificante visitar el Restaurant Juan Fogonero. Sus comidas son muy ricas, la atención es excelente y el lugar es hermoso, cálido. La limpieza resalta hasta en las salas de baño. Es un sitio de visita obligatoria en el casco central de Quito.
Long wait but good food
I don't think this restaurant was ready for a big group like us. We made up 33 total. We waited over an hour for our food to make it to our table. Everyone got their food at a different time. I only put average bc I know not everyone going to this restaurant will be as big of a group as we were. The food was great and the servers were kind. There were other acitivities including shopping. The restaurant was in this cute little courtyard. There was even a fountain. Paying was easy.

Two Good Meals Here, in the Convenient Palace
I have written about the palace itself, and one of the places I et at while there. This is the second of three, and it was good enough that I came back for a second meal a day or two after I had the first. If you enter the palace from its center courtyard (looking at it from the middle of Plaza Grande, You will walk past at least four other eateries. But this is more a full service restaurant than the others on the ground floor, all the way back at the end of a lovely inner courtyard. I was greeted by two young women, both of whom were welcoming, and one of whom had rather good English. She helped me with the menu, from which I chose one of the iconic Ecuadorian dishes, the Fritada. This is a plate full of pork and corn of all kinds, along with a delicious fried plaintain. I talked to my friendly server about what best to drink with the meal, and we settled on a very tasty glass of red wine from Chile. She was right to mention it, as it seemed the perfect accompaniment to the meal. It was a rather quiet evening, and I chose to eat inside rather than in the courtyard. I felt I had the best of all possible choices, as my table looked out directly onto the courtyard, so I had peace and quiet with a good view. I was very happy when a group of my fellow US citizens, loud hype-tourists, chose to sit in an entirely different section of the restaurant so that I could eat my meal in peace. So it was a really lovely early evening meal, excellent service, and too much food for me to finish, though it wasn't from lack of trying. I returned on my very last day in Quito, a few hours before I had to get to the airport. (Note that most flights to the US are very late at night - mine left at 11:50 pm and I left for the airport at about 8 pm.) I wanted something light but somewhat substantial and found it in a tasty dinner salad topped with grilled chicken. Just the thing before a long overnighter! You should give Juan Fogonero a look and perhaps a taste. If you don't go for pork they have a large and varied menu, with international options as well.
Another good Ecuadorian restaurant
This place is in the same building as the Hasta la Vuelta but on the ground floor. Again, good food, friendly service and a nice setting. Well worth the visit.
Restaurante de calidad, y cantidad!
Hemos comido a mediodía en Juan Fogonero, en el antiguo Palacio Arzobispal. Menú de calidad, pero atención: raciones monumentales. El arroz con camarones, delicioso, pero con una ración habríamos comido dos personas!

Es la tercera vez que voy al. restaurante y te reciben de lo mejor, desde el ingreso los dos meseros sin muy amables y siempre están con; ni hablar de la comida, simplemente DELICIOSA! Es un lugar 100% recomendable.

Locale carino ma il cibo non è un granché
Il locale si trova in una corte interna ed è carino. Il personale attento e gentile. Il cibo purtroppo non un granché per il prezzo. I gamberi che abbiamo preso erano stracotti e alcuni anche bruciati. La carne nella media ma non eccezionale.
Good central place for lunch
Only found this place by recommendation of our tour guide - it is set in a pleasant courtyard, up a passageway off the Plaza Grande so very handy while visiting the Old Town. We both had roast beef sandwiches (tasty and filling, on crusty white bread) and raspberry juice. It does have a full menu for " proper " meals as well.
Buena comida, mal servicio
La decoración del restaurante es excelente, las luces tenues dan mucha calidez al ambiente. De igual manera la comida muy buena. Sin embargo el servicio no estuvo a la altura, tuve que esperar mucho para que nos tomen la orden y ni siquiera se acercaron, tuve que llamarlos. No me ofrecieron salsas para mi plato, el cual necesitaba salsas. Al final nos ofrecieron un café de cortesía tal vez por que se dieron cuenta del mal trato, sin embargo, si volvería por la comida y decoración.
Food was good, they need to work on service
We found this place on a recent visit to colonial Quito. We got a table right away as the place was almost empty. The place was clean and decoration was nice. The place has a good variety of food at good prices, everything between $5-$20. We ordered soups, a hamburger, a steak and a lemon herbs chicken. Food was good, nothing spectacular but good and portions were fine. Even though the place was pretty much empty they lacked service, no waiter to ask you if you needed anything else or to pick up finished plates from the table. The kids wanted desserts and they had to go themselves to the counter to get menus. They ordered strawberries and cream which took them over 20 minutes to bring!! Once they brought the desserts we asked for the check and only then then told us that they had lost connection with the credit card company so apparently we had to pay by cash, we only had credit cards so I had to tell them to call for authorization if they need to but they can't tell you at the end of your meal that you cannot pay with a Credit card. At the end they did accept the cards and payment went through with no problem, so I really did not understand what the problem was. I am not sure if I will return, I liked the food, the place was nice but service was not too good, and the place was not even crowded!
Terrible food, bad service
I ordered the lasagna and it was one of the worst lasagnas I've had. It was one layer of pasta sheet with very wet ground beef and congealed cheddar on top. There was even a layer of oil floating on that. It was just horrible, so I sent it back. They gave me bolognese instead and clearly hadn't drained the spaghetti properly, and it was still inedible. The waiter actually stood and watched me take a bite of the bolognese and refused to leave me be, and as soon as I put the spaghetti in my mouth he started grilling me on whether I liked it. Avoid this place
Okay food, Not Great Service
We stumbled across this restaurant while exploring Old Town. The location was convenient, the food was just okay. I ordered a burger, my husband ordered a steak, and we ordered a pasta dish for our young son. The dishes we ordered were average. The service was not very good. Our waiter told me " no " to two of the dishes I tried to order. Was this because they were unavailable? He didn't explain. He proceeded to tell me what I should order. Perhaps he was trying to give me his recommendations, but it came across as though he was in a hurry and knew better. Later he disappeared and we could never find him. After waiting quite a while my husband asked another server for our check. There are other options nearby that are better.
Pésima atención... nadie que responda
This afternoon I had the worst experience ever in this hometown restaurant. They made as wait more than 30 minutes for a griiled bass and shrimp ceviche. If you are a turist and you want to try some traditional food, please!!! try some of the other restaurants in the colonial area.

Excellent steaks, reasonable prices, great service
We stumbled onto this place, ravenous after a full day of traveling. My daughter ordered hot chocolate which was excellent and a hamburger which was HUGE. My husband and I both ordered steaks that were nicely seasoned with a mushroom sauce, french fries, and vegetables. The waiter was very attentive and patient with my spanglish. All for under $50. It's a nice quiet location off the main square, too.

Bueno y bonito!
Lindo lugar, muy bonita decoración, atención amable y rápida. Buena comida muy bien servida y presentada. Hay platos típicos del Ecuador y carta internacional. Vale la pena, precios razonables, pero si pides vino sube bastante la cuenta, están un poco caros.

Buen restaurant en el centro de Quito
Agradable ambiente, cómodo, bien atendido. La comida está muy bien preparada y presentada. Destaco el Seco de Chivo. Precio conveniente, aunque no barato.
Great location off the main Old City square
We stumbled on this restaurant and the beautiful courtyard it is in when wandering around old town Quito. A more than adequate lunch in a very nice setting.
Good people in the kitchen here!
We've eaten there 5 times over a couple of years and always been pleased with the food. Don't be put off by the location in the heart of a tourist complex (though a very nice building is the Archbishop's Palace). The other restaurants in and near the central courtyard of the Palace are not very good but this one is. Even after dozens of visits to Quito, we go back to Juan Fogonero for really good food. We know Quito's restaurant scene pretty well but choose this as a stop for reliable lunches and evening snacks.
Muy bueno
En pleno centro turístico de Quito, el lugar muy pintoresco, les recomiendo las carnes y la lasaña, hay que tener un poco de paciencia al esperar una mesa por lo que es muy bueno y por ende muy concurrido. Se debe dejar el vehículo en el cadissan, y caminar un poco hacia la casa presidencial
food poisoned
I was looking for a place to have ceviche on my day through in Quito. I asked the hostess for a recommendation of where to go (ceviche is not on their menu), and she offered the kitchen would make me a ceviche, she said it is such a popular option that people order it (and they make it) all the time, in spite of not being on the menu. I ordered a lemonade with soda water as base to wash it down. The service was friendly, although not attentive. I did have a very nice chimichurri and a hot sauce and bread while I waited at my table. The shrimp ceviche and pop-corn (yes, ecuadorian ceviche is served with a side of popcorn) were decently tasty. But half way through the dish I hit a couple of odd tasting shrimp (spit out). Not two hours later I was WC-bound with food poisoning. I don't suspect the shrimp as culprit but unsterilized water used in the lemonade instead of the expected and ordered for bottled soda water. A few more cents for them, an afternoon of my one day in Quito wasted for me.

La comida es deliciosa, a pesar de que es caro vale la pena. El ambiente es muy cálido. La atención es excelente. Además no se demoran horas en servir, lo hicieron bastante rápido.
Same, Same, but Different
We ate in this restaurant on our last visit to Quito, but it was a different name then. We thought we were returning to an old favorite; the decor looked the same, but the name did not ring a bell. The place was empty as it was late evening and with the TV on, we discovered we had just missed a huge protest right outside of the plaza that took place the entire day (while we were on the bus to Quito). As we were the only patrons, the waiter was attentive. I ordered the lasagne with chicken and my spouse had fettuccine, we each had a beer. The waiter brought a basket with 3 rolls and a plate with one small scoop of butter that was not sufficient for one roll. Although it did not state it on the menu, my lasagne was in a white sauce. I have had chicken lasagne in a red sauce, so this is what I was expecting. That said the lasagne was okay, not great. My spouse's meal was also average. After riding the bus for hours to get to the city, we were hungry. Thinking we were returning to a restaurant we enjoyed in the past, this was disappointing. As we were leaving, we noticed on the outer wall they have been open only since 2012. Not the place we liked so much in the past.
Muy rica comida y excelente atención
En nuestro primer día en Quito, decidimos hacer la visita por el Centro Histórico, y encontramos este lugar en el Palacio Arzobispal. Quedamos muy conformes con la comida -mi novio pidió la hamburguesa que era gigante y de un sabor increíble, a parrilla, y mi plato fueron los camarones a la parrilla que también tenían un gusto muy particular y delicioso-. Los precios eran acordes con la calidad de la comida.
Buena alternativa en el Palacio Arzobispal
Entramos a Juan Fogonero con mi novia en un día frío y lluvioso en Quito, la atención estuvo muy buena y la comida un locro de cuero aún mejor, tienen una buena oferta de parrilladas y el precio es razonable, entre 15 a 20 $ por persona incluyendo las bebidas
Gutes Essen gleich bei der Plaza grande
Nachdem Besuch des Präsidentenpalastes (palacio de gobierno) assen wir dort zu Mittag: Locro de queso, sopa de verduras, tabla de Fogonero (Platte mit verschiedenen Würsten, Pommes und Salat) und ein Gericht mit Pouletflügeli und -schenkel an einer BBQ-Sauce (leider weiss ich den Namen nicht mehr). Zusammen mit zwei Flaschen Wasser bezahlten wir $37.00, was so im mittleren Bereich liegt. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet und die Portionen sehr grosszügig. Der Service war freundlich, zuvorkommend und sprach auch ein wenig Englisch. Das Ambiente hat uns ebenfalls sehr gut gefallen. Das Lokal befindet sich im Hinterhof des Palacio Arzobispal. Alles in allem ein gelungener Aufenthalt.
Best in the Archbishop's Palace
Took visitors from the US to this place twice with very good results. Good service and good food. Don't be distracted by the restaurants on the balconies above. They are not very good at all. Prices were reasonable as well.
Otra muy buena opción en el Arzobispado
Dentro del paseo de tres pisos que incluye otros excelentes restaurantes a muy buen precio, en pleno centro de Quito, también se destaca Juan Fogonero. Comí una lasaña de pollo que era una auténtica joyita. Recomendable.

Lindo restaurante ubicado en la plaza grande. Platos generosos y bien presentados. Excelente staff, siempre muy amables y colaboradores.

Es un lugar con los que uno se encuentra de casualidad y cumplen todas las expectativas. La comida fue excelente, los platos son muy generosos y se nota que saben de carne a la parrilla. El choripan y la hamburguesa son muy recomendables El lugar es muy acogedor igual que el servicio que brindan.
Pleasant Surprise
We came across this restaurant while we were visiting Independence Plaza. They did not have a menu in English but our waiter was kind enough to stand there and explain any dish that we were unsure of on the menu. I selected the grilled shrimp that came with a green bean / corn salad and fries, which was very good. Everyone else chose the filet mignon with a baked potato and the same sald and they were all pleased. The service was great and it is Ina nice quiet area where you feel far away from your actual surroundings.
Amazing restaurant u must go here!
We stumbled across this little restaurant wandering around Quito and we were so impressed it is newly opened in Quito and boasts fantastic dishes some authentic an some more western style. The avacado and potato soup I amazing we ate here three times on our stay in Quito because we new we would get friendly device delicious food and great hospitality! The meat kebabs are so good it has chicken sausage and capsicum served with salad and chips and it is huge! We wish you guys all the best!
LUGAR ACOGEDOR Y SUPER BUENA ATENCIÓN
Este resturante tiene todo lo que un turista busca. La decoración es super linda, los meseros muy amables y la comida riquísima. La ubicación no puede ser mejor y la plaza donde está el restaurante es un lugar que se disfruta al 100%. En cuanto a la comida, la lasaña fue lo mejor! El capitán de meseros fue muy amable y nos ayudó a pedir un taxi para llegar al aeropuerto, incluso insistió en acompañarnos a tomar el taxi!!! una muy buena esperiencia.
