Go anywhere else in the city
A few of us went here on Thanksgiving evening. The male server working this night made my friend feel uncomfortable when he kept touching her shoulder and got ignorant with us when she spoke up about it... We also overheard the same male server that night tell the table next to us that he " doesnt work for free " and harassed them about his tip not being enough... Very uncomfortable experience. I suggest you go ANYWHERE else in the city where the servers aren't ignorant.
friendly pub with live music
Long established pub in Roncy. Nice atmosphere with a stage near the back for small bands and musicians. Good place to get out of the cold and enjoy a pint.
Film Premier Celebration
Went here after a film premier next door at the theater. Location is nice and lively, large selection of drinks and there was live music and they offer board games and have a throwback decor. I ordered fires because I was ravenous and they were exactly what I needed. My server was very nice and professional. Place was crowded and loud, which is good for a Pub and not unusual. The Washrooms were clean, some graffiti in the stalls, and at the end of the night I saw the staff cleaning the washrooms again, it was good to see that they care about things like that.
Descontraído e local
O nome fala por si, é um lugar dos locais com som local, descontraído e animado. Pode chegar depois das 18hs e entrar noite a dentro. Boa comida e a cerveja muito boa, com muito bom custo / beneficio.
Stop in for a drink and some music
My wife and I went to The Local specifically to enjoy some live music. The stage was small and set at a slightly odd angle, not surprising as the space was not designed for a stage. Still, the music sounded great (that's the main thing!) and was at a volume that was loud enough but not unpleasant. The bartender was friendly and the atmosphere was quite pleasant, welcoming.
Great Pub!
Visited The Local for the first time yesterday with some friends. It was crazy busy as it was St. Patricks day, but we found some space at the bar. Our server Liam was excellent and personally introduced himself. He never left us hanging with empty glasses. Definitely a nice atmosphere, could've used some better music (personal preference). I'll be returning for another visit I'm sure.
Perfect
Want to go for a solo pint.... awesome atmosphere... great tunes in the background First rate beer selection... go Want to go for a pint, with 3 or 4 of your best peeps... Food and atmosphere the best
Their fish and chips are the best - fabulous spot for great food, wonderfully friendly staff and live music. We will be back
Quaint little pub
Stopped here for supper and a drink. The prices are reasonable and the food was fair. This is a small local pub that could use a bit of a facelift. It was fairly busy. They had live music the evening we were there.
Great entertaining place
Great entertaining place, live music is every day, drinks are reasonably priced. Haven't tried there food yet but many ppl were eating. I would definitely try next time.
Unexpected find
Groovy place with mix of patrons. Super burger and truly awesome fries worthy of the name frites. My wife had butter chicken which she had more heat added to. Stick with the burger it was the best I have had in TO in at least 15 years.
Best pub in Toronto
If live music in a quirky friendky atmosphere is what you like you cant visit Toronto without dropping by The Local. Amazing food and an incedible clientele whomhave been frequenting this gem for years.
excellent pre-show dinner
we were going to a show just up the street and stopped here for dinner beforehand. the beer list is excellent if you like that sort of thing, the decor is slightly quirky but pleasant and comfortable, the menu is familiar but prepared very well. service was a little slow but it was a busy friday evening so don't read a lot into that. (i'd go back in a heartbeat -- the ribs were among the best i've had anywhere.)
Wonderful food, great craft beers, friendly staff, neat decor...
My wife and I stopped by at the Local while we were visiting family in Toronto. It's one of a number of good restaurant / pubs in Roncesvalles Village. Our server was a cheerful young man who was attentive and welcoming. I had a superb burger which I was advised was ground brisket and was delicious. My wife had a Morroccan salad which she raved about. The beer selection was also outstanding and although Inrestrict myself to one pint during a meal I couldn't resist going for a second pint of a local pilsener. Kudos to the Local. We will definitely be returning to this gem when we're back in Toronto.
