Sandride in Huacachina
What a great day!! Rafo was an amazing teacher, it was my first day trying sandboard, none experience at all and I enjoyed a lot. The ride on the car throught to desert was fun and the sunset was stunning. Definitely if you want to ride the dunes choose Sandride Lima.
Great UTV ride in the sand dunes
We booked the UTV trip through Sand Ride Lima. I was slightly apprehensive during booking due to the request for pre-payment. However, it turned out great. I had no issues with communication and was picked up at the expected time. I had never driven a UTV before and both the guide and instructor were great. They took us on a beginner ride and customized it based on what I was comfortable with. We ended up having a great time and the guide took great photos and videos for us.
Half Day Sandboarding Experience
Had a great day sandboarding in the sand dunes outside of Lima! The staff was incredibly friendly and make the experience worth wild! Highly recommended to anyone looking for a few hour sand boarding tour outside of Lima!

Sabía que sería hermoso, pero el equipo de Sandridelima lo hizo super súper divertido 🙌, se preocuparon de darnos hasta un snack súper saludable, en el camino nos mostraron sitios lindos de Lima como Punta Hermosa y el pan se lena riquísimo!!. Ya en las dunas, tuvimos un entrenamiento 💪🏽 muy técnico y profesional, que nos permitió disfrutar al 100%, te hacen sentir profesional me encanto la experiencia creo que debemos repetirla, Rafael y Eros son excelentes!!! muchas gracias por estos hermosos recuerdos 😜✌, desde que volví a mi país no he parado de recomendarlos, les deseamos que sigan sus éxitos se lo merecen sin duda alguna 👏👏

My friend and I enjoyed every minute of our sandboarding trip yesterday! It was our first day in Peru and we couldn't have asked for a better way to start our adventure in this amazing country. Thank you for the wonderful experience and memories :)
Awesome experience
We had Javier as our driver and Eros as our sand boarding instructor and they were both awesome!!! Really friendly guys who made our experience great. My husband and I had so much fun sand boarding, it is worth going an hour and a half outiside Lima for. The sand dunes are incredible and the ocean view in the background was hard to beat. Eros also took amazing pictures :)
What an amazing experience
We booked the sand boarding experience with Rafael. We let Rafael in Punta Hermosa, he came pick us up at our location. They then take you to the office to get equiped with the shoes and the boards. Because they know the desert by heart Rafael took us the the most secluded part. We were alone didn't meet anyone there ! Which is great because in huaccachina it is too crowded ! So Rafael and Eros, drive you in the dunes of road, unique experience its amusement park in the most virgin nature. They then take the time to teach how to Sandride on little dunes to finish with a 300meters dune 🤩 Crazy experience I advise 10000 times Rafael ! Not a tourist trap Tailored experience Unique
Great experience for first time sand boarders
Rafael and Eros picked up our family of five at our hotel near the Lima airport. It was a long drive from there to pick up our sandboarding gear and then on to Chilca. Rafael maneuvered the sand dunes to our first spot for sandboarding smoothly. Eros was very patient showing us how to sandboard. It was the first time for everyone in our group and none of us had ever snowboarded either. Some of us definitely picked up the skills better than others. But it was fun to slide down on the board nonetheless. Eros also took the time to take great action shots of us on the sandboard so we could show our friends back home the new skills we had learned. ;-) We experienced a high speed tire blowout on the way back to Lima which Rafael again handled very well. He made sure we were put in a taxi that would take us back to our hotel while he waited for a tow of his vehicle. Overall a fun experience, highly recommended for people looking for an adventure in Lima!
Sand boarding and ATV riding
We had an AWESOME time sand boarding and riding atv's in Chilca (right outside of Lima) with Rafael and Eros! Rafael picked us up at our apartment in Lima and our group adored him from the start when he encouraged us to dj on the way.... even forcing my husband to sing some BackStreet Boys (it was hilarious). They took us to an authentic breakfast spot on the way to Sandboarding that was absolutely DELICIOUS. We tried on our gear and headed to the dunes where they gave us proper instructions, even though a few in our group have snowboarded before... sandboarding is a little different. After about an hour and half +, we rode out to some smaller dunes (a course) for ATV and UTV riding, and it was another excellent thrill. Rafael also made several recommendations for places to check out in Lima. We had so much fun it was one of my favorite excursions of our trip to Peru!
A unique, must-do experience!!!
The tour was amazing from start to finish. If you're looking for an adventure off the beaten path in Lima, then this is a must do! Our guides were very personable, informative, humorous, and caring. My fiancé and I had so much fun with the 4x4, and the sandboarding. Neither of us had ever been on a board prior to this trip and with the directions the guides gave us, we were able to go down the dunes with ease. I highly recommend this tour, it was a unique experience, and I would definitely do it again!
A M A Z I N G fun!
We had the best day with these guys. Rafael picked us up on time and drove us to the shop to grab our gear and then he and Abraham took us out to the dunes. The 4x4 was so much fun! We have a bit of snowboarding experience so Abraham just explained the difference and we were off. They were great at taking pictures and videos of us going down so we have so many memories. 100% would do again. Oh and Tagline doesn't lie- sand everywhere!

This was a great experience! Rafa and Abraham were great. Super fun tour! They are on time, take the time to teach you and give you tips. Overall great will do it again with them if we return to Peru! Chilca is a beautiful spot!
Sandboard Peru es lo maximo!
Super recomendado! A poco tiempo de la ciudad de Lima, en una tarde, logramos conocer otro mundo lleno de aventura y paisajes espectaculares. La manejada 4x4 - Offroading en las dunas fue un shock delicioso de adrenalina para todos, y mis hijos que hicieron Sandboarding, en cuestion de minutos estaban deslizandose por las dunas como unos pros! Rafa nos atendio de maravilla. Se ve que le apasiona lo que hace y estuvo siempre pendiente de todos nostros. Mi esposa que le encanta la fotografia, disfruto muchisimo con tanto paisaje, con la vista del mar al fondo, la puesta del sol, las formaciones de arena, etc... Recomendadisimo.

5 stars all the way!!! The experience was awesome, all 8 of us had the best time on our last day in Peru. I couldn't have asked for a better team to teach us how to sandboard and drives us through the dunes. If you go to Peru it's a must especially if you like to try new things and are as adventurous as my friends were.
Incredible!
Everything about this event was great-picked up right on time from your accommodation, nice equipment (actual snowboard with boots and bindings), easy to learn tutorial with experienced teachers, and lots of fun driving through the sand dunes. Rafael and the team make sure you get great photos and videos and make sure you get the most out of your experience. This was my favourite part of Lima! The guys are so fun and make the best chilcanos in town!
Awesome experience
We had a great time sandboarding in the nearby city of Chilca. I had no prior sandboarding / snowboarding experience and had no problems picking it up! Our guide Rafo and instructer Gersen made the day super fun. The views are incredible. I would highly recommend, even if you have very limited time in Lima, it is well worth it!
Should have saved this for our last day in Peru it was so much fun
We had our half day excursion booked for our first full day in Peru. It should have been the grand finale! Carlos picked us up from Barranco and drove us to their shop south of Lima. We talked the whole trip (Carlos is a car guy and loves Top Gear). He stopped at a shop and bought us the purple corn drink and some pastries that were delicious. At the shop, we met our instructor Gerson. His English wasn't as good As Carlos', but his enthusiasm made up for it. He was extremely patient with our lack of skills and seemed genuinely enthused when we got the hang of it. We had no idea about the second adventure we would go on that day - crazy driving in the sand dunes! It was very clear that Carlos knew how to handle his truck and was a very capable driver. Never did we feel in danger, but the trip through the dunes was exhilarating. It was an amazing day that we will never forget. Go do this!!!
Amazing time!
We booked this because of the excellent reviews on TA. We were a group of 11 people, so there were 3 vehicles for us. Rafo and his crew picked us up right on schedule in Miraflores. We had about a 40 min drive to their shop, were we tried on the equipment. After about 30-40 min, we finally departed. The off road was very fun and it tooked around 20 min. Afterwards, we finally arrived and were ready to go downhill. There were 3 dunes. On the first one, we did the basics, but not on the other 2, where we could move freely. At the end, it transformed to a party (short, and because we were able to take some beers haha). We had music, a couple of beers and a lot of fun. I think this never happens, but it was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, it was already dark, so we had to leave. When we arrived at the shop to pick our shoes, we had some pisco sours, played some more music and finally left. It was absolutely one of the best tours / trips i ever had. And rafo, carlos and renzo were preety cool with everything! We even met with rafo a couple of days later for drinks! Gracias Rafo! Un abrazo!
ADRENALINA PURA!!!
Una excelente experiencia, nuestro guía del tour Alonzo llego a recogernos por la mañana al hotel, luego tomamos la carretera hacia Punta Hermosa allí nos reunimos con los otros guias Rafa y Gerson, probamos el equipo y nos fuimos para las dunas de San Bartolo, la experiencia fue increible nunca habia estado en un desierto, el lugar es espectacular, no solo el sand board si no llegar hasta arriba de las dunas es increible hacerlo con los conductores experimentados, es una aventura llena de adrenalina, recomendado para todo el que visite Lima!!!
Wonderful fun day out!
As some of us had a plane to Catch late that evening, and so we asked for an earlier departure. They offered us to start the Huacachina Sandboarding Tour earlier, the pick up time was 0345! We were so grateful that they could be so accomodating! Rafa picked us up at 0345 on the dot and we set off to get our gear which was about 30 min drive. After that we headed off for Ica and HuacaChina. It was a long 3 hour+ drive. Breakfast was excellent! The Chicken sandwich was the best breakfast we had in peru! SANDBOARDING was a lot of fun, even for a novice like who who hasnt done any snow boarding in my life. Expect a lot of falling over, but as it was sand, it didnt hurt at all except that the sand got a bit hot as the day went on! Rafa and Jason was very patient and friendly.. we all had a great time!!! Also as we were all hands on with the sandboarding, they offered to take pictures for us as well as video with Go Pro! And they were excellent pictures and videos! We went for lunch at a local restaurant with excellent roast chicken and then we headed off for pisco tasting! Highly recommended!
Día de ensueño en las dunas de San Bartolo
Ha sido una gran experiencia en todos los sentidos. Primeramente, una conduccion emocionante por las dunas de San Bartolo, que son preciosas y posteriormente, una liberación de adenalina haciendo sand board en un entorno de ensueño. Gran combinación de diversión y emoción, en un paraje precioso y con un guía, rafo, de 10!!! Totalmente recomendable.

Esta fue una gran experiencia. Muy recomendado para quienes visiten Lima. Es divertido, los instructores son geniales y todo se convierte en una gran experiencia. Si nunca has usado una tabla no es problema, los principiantes también lo logramos y terminamos bajando las dunas como profesionales.

Amazing experience even just to see the Dunes!
My fiancé and I went on a half day trip ($230US for both - special rate) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Rafael was great with pre-email communication and Guiliana and Olonzo were awesome on the day. Picked up right on time at 1:30pm and went to their office to get fitted. Boards a in good nick, and boots were Ride or Burton etc. home brew beer and some waters later and we were on our way through what can only be described as desert dunes behind chicken farms. The four wheel driving was amazing (steep crevasses and speeding to get up the top) and the views were amazing! We did 3 trips down the slope and finished on sunset. Really worth the money (seems expensive but a lot of work goes into the trip!) definitely recommend to all ages as they can cater for all.

Es una experiencia increíble y el equipo a comparación de otros fue el mejor además te explican qué hacer y qué no hacer para que no salgas lastimado y lo mejor es que mientras tú te diviertes ellos se ocupan de las fotografías (y) !

Me gustó mucho mi primera experiencia de sandboarding en las dunas ubicadas cerca de Lima. El paisaje es hermoso y el instructor (Rafo) es muy profesional y dedicado a su trajabo. Foi uma das melhores experiências da minha vida. As dunas de areia de Punta Hermosa são lindas, altas, bem radical, mas tb achei tudo muito seguro já que foi a primeira vez que pratiquei o esporte. Junto do sandride também rolou um rally nas areias com o jipe do guia. Foi insano! O guia Rafo é demais, até aguardou a gente participar de outra atividade no caminho pra nos levar de volta pro hotel. As lições foram bacanas, os sanduíches da estrada uma delícia! Recomendo muito!
Best experience in Peru!
My boyfriend and I spent two weeks in Peru on more of an adventure vacation (mountain biking, whitewater rafting, hiking, sandboarding, etc.) and Sandboarding was by far the best experience we had! Rafael picked us up from our hotel in Miraflores and drove us out of the city. We stopped by his shop to pick up the boards / boots before driving off-road on the dunes. I was skeptical to try sandboarding since I am horrible at snowboarding, but I picked it up quickly and only fell a couple times. Warning, you will get full of sand! After an afternoon of sandboarding, we stopped by at the shop to have a Peruvian beer before heading back to the hotel. Rafael was extremely accomodating to our lack in knowledge of both the native language and sandboarding skills. I thank him for his patience and recommend this experience for anyone looking for a new adventure!
Single Woman Review: Best Part of Peruano Vacation
I had the best time sand boarding with Rafo in Peru. I came alone to Lima in May 2014, and of course people felt compelled to impose on me horror stories of unsafe experiences and to be weary as a single woman traveling alone. Not only did I feel completely secure throughout my stay in Peru (which, of the 7 countries I've been in this year - in addition to U. S. (nationality, but it still counts!), DR, Spain, Germany, Switz, France - was the BEST and most BEAUTIFUL place and I want to go back and travel all year long), I made a true friend in Rafo who was kind, a wonderful instructor, funny, and genuinely interested in teaching me how to sand board. I chose to sand board with Rafo rather than going to the Ica Desert because I didn't want to coordinate transportation from Lima to Ica and find a place to stay when I had accommodations in Lima already. I am so pleased with my decision. Initially, I was hoping that I would go in a group (because, see above: safety), but I was the only person to book. Rafo instantly agreed that I didn't need to pay anything upfront and that only at the end of the day, when we returned to my apartment, would I pay him. That was the first of numerous reasons that my concern was alleviated. Rafo picked me up around 1PM in an awesome old 2-door Land Cruiser. We instantly hit it off and his English is much better than he thinks (and I discovered my Spanish is a lot worse than I thought). He told me about Lima and the changes in the country over the past two decades and we tried to help each other with our native tongues. We cruised from where I was staying in Barranco, down through the next district and onto the highway. I really enjoyed the ride because I was able to see what Lima is like for the majority of people who live there and hear about life from a local. Once we exited the highway for San Bartolomo, we stopped to get outfitted. The board as new and the boots were purple (awesome!). He stopped to pick up water and coke zeros and we headed to the sand dunes -- the most impressive sites I have seen. I was floored. They are SO IMPRESSIVE, so AWE-INSPIRING, so unlike anything I have ever seen. We had a blast. Rafo knows the area so well and took me on a fun 4x4 tour and had me shrieking and giggling and having a blast before we even went boarding. I have a lot of experience wake boarding, so when we started the sand boarding lessons, I took to it pretty quickly. Rafo is a skilled teacher and I didn't fall once... then, it was time for the " real " lesson. The dune was like a super good blue ski run. I was having the time of my life. Rafo let me go down the entire dune (which is HUGE -- 400 meters minimum), and he followed in the Cruiser, would scoop me and take me back to the top. At this point my phone is dead (another safety concern for any lone lady), but I wasn't worried at all - beyond the fact that i may not have any photos! No worries. Rafo is a super skilled photographer. His pictures were awesome. He even had a little USA flag for me to hold up that my friends back home loved. I was so tired by the end but definitely had the best day of my trip. On the way home, to solidify his position as one of my favourite people ever and the very best trip I've ever taken, Rafo stopped the Cruiser when I saw a kitten covered in pulgas (fleas -- I told y'all I learned a bit of Spanish from Rafo!). Back at the sand board shop, Rafo and i washed the little kitten (" Angelo ") to kill some of the fleas. I begged Rafo to keep him and he did! THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU, RAFO!
Amazing adeventure!
Rafo is the best! We had such a great day with him! The sand was beautiful and off-roading in the sand along with the sandboarding was a ton of fun! Rafo was so patient with us making sure we figured out the sandboarding quickly so we could enjoy the day! Great, quick communication as well since we booked last minute:)
Una actividad que hay que hacer sí o sí
Definitivamente si se va a Lima, hay que hacer sandboarding con Sandride. Rafa y Aldo son majísimos y hacen que el día sea muy divertido y agradable. Rafa te recoge al final de la duna para que no tengas que subir andando lo cual es un puntazo, Aldo es un excelente instructor y los dos hacen todas las fotos y videos que quieras. Experiencia en las dunas
Excelente la experiencia de pasar un día en las dunas de Lima primero realizando Off Road y despues Sandboarding, con la gran experiencia y dedicación del instructor Rafa para que todo sea agradable y sobre todo muy seguro con un equipo en excelente condiciones por lo descriptivo recomiendo vivir esta experiencia única, Carlos Coronel - Argentina - snowborder.
Best part of my vacation! - El mejor día en Lima
I met Rafo almost a year ago when i was looking for a solution when my trip to Ica fell in the water. We wanted go sandboarding but didn't had time to go all the way to Ica. So started looking at google and found 'sandride sandboarding Lima'. Me and my friend booked a tour with him. I never stood on a board before and was pretty nervous. Rafo was super kind when we arrived and was very helpfull setting us up with a board and boots. We took a drive to the dunes. Falling more times on my bottom than i imagined was possible. But we were having fun. He explained the techniques really well and by the end i could stand on a board. I felt really save and at the end i went down the hill having a blast. I would go again any time.... and so i did, on the 24th of March it was my last day of vacation, said that my family was living i was not in the best mood, but once i stood on that board i was having the best last day of my trip. My brother and his wife alo had never stood on a board before. But Rafo explained what they should do and wauw they were going down the dune as if they had done it a 1000 times. I would take everyone who comes to visit me in Lima to go sandboarding with me. Rafo is the best instructor, he is very supportive and makes it the best experience!!

Una experiencia única, no sólo por el hermoso paisaje de las dunas de Lima sino por la calidad del instructor. No es sólo un paseo más, el profesionalismo de Rafo no tiene comparación con otros similares. Rafo pone énfasis y cuidado en el aprendizaje, el trato es cordial y personalizado y lis equipos de primera. Totalmente recomendable!
Un dia en el desierto con Rafa
Rafa es una exc persona, super profesional, fue por mi novio y por mi al hotel y desde el primer momento nos trato muy bien, hicimos tour en el desierto San Bartolo, en cruz de hueso, luego clases de sandboarding (nunca habiamos hecho y aprendimos rapido) y finalmente fotos al atardecer. Fue una experiencia maravillosa, con buena compania y el lugar perfecto en LIMA! Si quieren llevarse un recuerdo que siempre quieran contar, no lo piensen, el precio, la atencion y la aventura es lo maximo.
