Wrong food and overcharged card

On the menu there is a veggie wrap - grilled seasonal veggies with hummus, lettuce, tomato, onion, and balsamic vinaigrette. My friend ordered it. It came without hummus but had ranch dressing on it. We asked the server and they said it was not ranch. I tasted it, it was ranch and definitely not hummus. There is a big difference between ranch and hummus. My friend stays away from dairy because it upsets her stomach, so this was an issue for her. We paid the bill no problem. When I got home there were extra charges on the card. I am really disappointed because we looked forward to coming here and it was a disaster.

Decent place

I held a happy hour here last night for about 20 people. The place is small but comfy. The service was fine. The food was surprisingly good for a pub. We enjoyed ourselves.

Killing time

What a quaint pub. Debbie is very friendly. This remind me of cheers in Boston. This is a real Irish pub with corn beef chowder and great rubins. I would recommend everyone experience this place every time in Connecticut.

Deducted twice from my card without my sign

Terrible experience!!!! We gave 2 cards as the payment was split among 2 but they deducted twice from my card including the tip despite the fact that my signature was only on one receipt. My friend's card was not charged and I left the city very next day. I will never recommend this bar to anyone. So careless!

Good Pub Feel / ok food

Good place to stop in for a beer and eats if attending an event at the Civic Center. Has a nice pub feel wit a typical pub menu, Nothing great or bad to say bout the food.

lunch after college visit

Good place for families. Looks like a great places for sampling Whiskey or craft Beers. Unfortunately we were starving and had more driving to do that day. Service was excellent, food was average and could have been a bit more inventive. Too much bread to fillings ratio in sandwiches for my taste. Had a late lunch. Perhaps better at dinner. Next time I would try entree portion of menu and stay away from salads and sandwiches for something more unique. Dessert menu not inspiring. (that is important for the teens.)

Average

Went here with a group while on a business trip. Good selection of beers with genuine Irish Pub feel but food was average at best (they bake their burgers and serve only medium well and well done) and service was a little slow even though it wasn't very busy. Actually waitress was eating her salad behind bar while we were waiting for drink orders!

Great place

Visited area for work and swung in here for brews and some lunch. Good wrap and brews. They ran out of one whisky for shots but barkeep didnt have access to store room for more. Good service and beer selection

big selection of beers

Not good, not bad, just perfect! Good selection of beers and what do you want more? Great service. This is the best place to meet the friends. I'd recommend this place anytime.

Great bar service

Typical Irish pub / restaurant - loved the interior, big selection of beers, typical bar menu with Interesting cocktails. Great place to meet friends after work or have a sit down with families. I noticed a couple of young families w infants! Diverse crowd, would definitely return.

Not Even OK

On an ill-conceived whim, my wife and I had lunch at McKinnon's. The few pluses: convenient to the Civic Center, a pleasant and efficient server, and an inviting exterior. Neutral: the ambiance was woody pub; OK but nothing special. Negatives: the food. We started with splitting a bowel Guinness lamb stew ($4.75). I've had have beer-laced Irish stews before, but this tasted strange. It was also served barely above room temperature. I had a meatloaf / swiss sandwich ($9), which was not so much bad as blah. Even more forgettable was my wife's bland to the point of nearly tasteless cottage ($12.75) stew, aka shepherd's pie. Coming in last was an order of fries ($4). They were seriously undercooked: limp and mushy. If you find yourself in McKinnon's, fortify yourself with a beer or an Irish whiskey and find somewhere else to eat

HORRIBLE!!!

One server for 15-20 tables, kitchen staff can't read what is written on paper, menus were sticky and the place was not very clean. I won't even bring up the bathrooms. NEVER AGAIN!!! This is the worse review I have ever given, but it was well earned.

nothing special

Had a beer and the slider meal. The sliders were dry, no sauces offered. Could not get the waitress to come back. Never saw her once she dropped the food off. Kind of a bland meal without any sauce on a burger, pork or chicken slider. Won't go back.

Really? First review? Awesome place

Irish pubs make a New Yorker feel at home. No, wait - Tracey and Reagan made us feel at home. So much so that we ended our night there and met some really amazing locals. Thank you so much for making our trip to Hartford so much fun. Ladies, seriously, great service and great conversation. Really appreciated.
