stale chips
a friend and i went to Manukau for lunch today. we both decided on fish and chips the battered fish was lovely. and the portions were generous. However the chips were virtually inedible. they tasted stale and horrible. We ended up throwing them away.
Seafood basket

Mixed Grill
What a delicious meal. The mixed grill with its hoki, prawns, salad and chips for $16.90 was fantastic, both in taste and value. The Big John burger was equally money well spent. Service at the busy counter was friendly and very efficient. Good spot for a good meal
Quick meal
The fish was okay, quite a lot of batter on it but it was crispy. Chips were not overly hot but they were a good sized portion.
Hit and Miss
Well, it's LJ's... nothing fancy but good for a quick fish and chip if you don't mind the price. There is variation in how long the fish is cooked sometimes which kind of counters the taste of freshness in the fish. It's best to go here earlier than 1pm, as the salads get a bit limp and crusty. The prawn salad seems a bit dodgy toward the end of the day, and I think they should keep it sealed in the chiller display instead of open, as serve staff are often reaching it to get other items.
Good eats
Fish is fresh, batter is crispy, spicy chips are tasty, other seafood is done to perfection. Prices are good varying on cheap / reasonable.
Clean and hot but out of a box
We were looking for fresh seafood for lunch and reviews recommended this place. It was a chain restaurant that looked clean and inviting. After ordering the food, salt and pepper squid, snapper, prawn twists and calamari rings we wait for only a few minutes for our meal to arrive. The food was hot and looked inviting. The prawns and calamari rings were processed and out of a box. The salt and pepper squid the same but my partner enjoyed the fish. The service was good as the young staff member was still learning the ropes but he did a good job overall. If you want fresh, real seafood, go to a restaurant on the water.
Fresh Yum!
The food was so good and fresh, we got fish and chips and enjoyed it so much that we went back the next day. Restaurant was clean and the people was friendly. Priced a bit high, but worth it.
Lovely staff, nice sit down area inside or outside
We ate lunch here today. First time to this LJ's. Staff are very friendly. Food about the same as any other LJ's I have been too. Nice area to sit inside or outside. Especially on a sunny day. Food fresh and good sized helpings. I had the new chicken burger, which ok but nothing to rave about. I would stick to their fish meals in future. Café is part of the busy Supa Centa complex clothing, furniture and sporting places nearby.
