You can get there but not for long

It's a nice spot but you can't access it directly. If you go down Paddy's Head Road you will pass a beach and cross a small bridge. On the right you will see a building site where a new house is going in. You can access the sea from there. Turn left at the sea. There is s bit of a trail that quickly peters out. From there you have to scramble on the rocks for a bit. We did it with 6 and 8 year olds. You just need to keep an eye on them.

Lohnenswert

Wer den Rummel um den Leuchtturm bei Peggy's Cove meiden will, ist hier genau richtig. Nur selten kommt einem einer entgegen und die Landschaft ist wunderschön.

Paddy's Head Lighthouse

You can't get to the lighthouse as you would have to cross private land and the owner doesn't like anyone going across his land. Can be seen long distance from King Neptune Camp Ground across the water. It has just been restored.

Hard to get to

Certainly not a place for disabled persons or persons with walking difficulties. Once you do get there it's absolutely beautiful though

Nice Lighthouse without direct access

You can get near the light house by driving on Paddy's Cove Rd. off the main road, but not too it. It doesn't really matter. It's an attractive surprise so near Peggy's Cove and enjoyable for the serenity as well as the beauty on the drive near it. Worth the short drive in.

Unfortunately you can't get to it!

But the trip along Paddy's Head Road is very scenic offering views of Indian Harbour and the sometimes rougher waters off Mackerel Point and Paddy's Head. It's worth the side trip off Peggy's Cove Road to see it.

Pretty lighthouse, no tourists

We stopped here on our way back out from visiting Peggy's Cove. I had read about it and knew it was a little hard to find. We stopped for lunch at Rhubarb restaurant (excellent choice) and our server knew exactly where it was and gave us excellent directions. It is about a minute's drive from the restarant. There is no signage, so look for a small street marker called Paddy's Head Road. It is a short drive down a residential street. There is a small pull off on the right next to a little bridge. The lighthouse will be to the left. You can't get to it as you would have to trespass on private property, but it is a tranquil little stop for a few good photos if lighthouse photos interest you.

Hard to get to

This is an automated lighthouse along the coast. You may have to cross private land to get to it, but we had a nice view of it from the King Neptune Campground.

Vue magnifique, très beau site

Très belle endroit, vue magnifique, mais attention, beaucoup de touriste au rendez-vous! Semble être l'endroit de Peggys Cove à visiter...

Couldn't get close to light house

Tried to get to this light house. Ended up at a dead end road and had to turn around. We did get several shots of the light house from the road but I was hoping to get a close up. Guess I had the wrong directions. My gps looked like we'd get there but didn't.

Breathtaking

Brilliant white lighthouse on the rocks in a charming little seaside village. I must admit to not understanding the whole Peggy thing but loved the beauty provided by mother nature

Distinct, interesting lighthouse that's just minutes away from Peggy's Cove

This is a pretty cool lighthouse to visit, especially if you have already taken the trip to Peggy's Cove to see the Peggy's Point Lighthouse. Less than a 10 minute drive away - and on a route that will also take you back towards Halifax if you so desire - Indian Harbour Lighthouse is worth the visit. Though this is not a lighthouse you can get up close to touch, so to speak, it is located off a point and surrounded by magnificent landscape. The lighthouse itself really needs some tender loving care, as a fresh coat of paint could really go a long ways with this one. But again, it is very easy to look the other way on its aesthetics when you take in all that the scene has to offer: calm ocean (certainly calmer than Peggy's Cove), boats sitting in the harbour and a rocky, unforgiving coastline. Further, there is practically zero tourist activity here. Indian Harbour may not necessarily be worth a special trip to visit on its own, but it certainly merits a visit if you are already at Peggy's Cove. And truth be told, I quite liked it... this lighthouse had the genuine charm you'd expect, without the commercialization and hordes of people that are at it's beautiful, and famous, sister's. Note: You can see my TripAdvisor reviews of several lighthouses In Nova Scotia (and eventually abroad), as I am endeavouring to visit and photograph them all in this province, as well as obtain drone footage of most lighthouses for a video series on my YouTube channel. Inside hint # 1: I have read all the reviews on here to date regarding this lighthouse; several people are mixing-up Indian Harbour Lighthouse with Peggy's Cove. Firstly, this lighthouse definitely is not busy; not in the least. Secondly, you would have to go through private property to access the lighthouse and climb on the rocks. Finally, I don't believe anyone has ever gotten swept away by the ocean while visiting this one. Inside hint # 2: Though not needed, I'd reckon a pair of binoculars would go a long way with appreciating this one. Inside hint # 3: There are no signs pointing out this lighthouse. If you want to visit, take a left when you reach the stop sign to get back on the secondary highway, upon leaving the Peggy's Cove area. After about 5 minutes, keep an eye on the coastline... you'll see the lighthouse, but can easily pass the turn. You will want to take a left on Paddy's Head Rd. Drive to the small causeway; that will give your best view.

must do - but be safe & smart

everyone should go check it out. it is very beautiful. It is also very busy so go early if you can. Importantly, don't go down on any rocks that are dark. Even if the ocean appears calm, waves come up all the time and many people every year are swept off.

Ahoy

Loved everything about this visit. Great scenery and wonderful vistas. Would recommend this. Drive along the lighthouse trail if you have the time.

It's a light hiuse

Great view of the area but it comes down its just a small light house. Better to go down to Peggy's cove and see the view of the area from there

Indian Harbour Lighthouse Natural Beauty

The Indian Harbour Lighthouse is perched on a cliff that provides beautiful views of the beauty of the coast. Great place to take memorable photos.
