Consistently good Mexican food
We have been here twice now. They always bring chips and salsa. Both times, we ordered different plates. The food is very good. The refried beans seem to be homemade and are very good, along with the rice and small portions of salad served on plates. This past visit, we had the enchilada durango plate with 3 different kinds on it. We really loved the spinach one. So if you're looking for vegetarian options I suggest that one. We have also had their chile verde (one of my favs), their tampiquena and carnitas. It's all very tasty and authentic tasting. This is the closest I have come to West Coast Mexican food since moving to this area, two years ago. You can not beat the prices either. It is very reasonable for a sit down restaurant. Recommend them for some authentic Mexican food, good service, and yummy margs also.
se come bien alli
I have lived in sebastian for about 3 1 / 2 years. This restaurant was recommended to me by a couple of people. My wife and I finally got around to going there the other day. I thought the food and the service were excellent. GOD BLESS 'EM!!! We will be back!
Always consistently good
Always good food, selection, price and service. A favorite of mine all the time. Of the 3 local establishments I like Sebastian the best.
Love their Enchiladas!
I really like Mexican food and there aren't many god places near where I live. Ay Jalisco is very good at least at this location. I enjoy all types of food there but hardly ever get place the Three Enchilada dinner. Service was excellent and atmosphere was very nice as well.
Food has gone downhill
Service was poor. Two small bowls of salsa for 4 people. Chips were stale. Second small salsa free then, they charge for additional. Food was mediocre. No military discount. Probably not going to go back.
Loved it
My wife got a taco bowl and I got a fajita platter and both were outstanding. We got a chimichanga to get for lunch. Service was excellent, Restroom clean. We ususally do not do a restaurant twice on our weeks vacation, but this one might be the exception.
Must go venue
Great place. Good food and prices. Lovely friendly atmosphere. A must eat place in sebastian florida. A little different from the southern fried experience at the river front eateries.
Pleasantly surprised
Seated promptly, drinks ordered quickly and warm chips with salsa brought to the table. Huge, hot, tasty portions.
Totally down hill
I paused my reviews due to not wanting restaurants being unfavorably affected during the pandemic. Now after a goodly period I feel that I must point out some recent notations re. Ay Jalisco in Sebastian. Service was extremely perfunctory. Woman came with drink order and disappeared. when we saw here again we need a utensil. She said she she doesn't speak English. Didn't get regular server for us. Waiter was too busy to keep an eye on what was needed for the table. ex. knife, spice rack etc. Our order arrived and 2 entrees were cold (burrito and mixed plate). Needed to be heated more, however, never saw waiter to let him know. We ate the dishes. Had to go to cash register to pay. Was asked why we didn't use waiter, we said we couldn't find him. We have used this restaurant in the past when family visits and it was always Okay. but now we will not return. Bummer.
Nice food, large portions
We visited with our family on a Saturday night when it was very busy. Our server was very polite and friendly. Drinks were brought promptly along with tortilla chips and dips. The guacamole was delicious, we had two dishes of salsa, one was much better than the other. Our food arrived promptly. One had a starter platter which was a delight of beige - a bit of salad would have made all the difference. The other three dishes were good, my chicken dish was very nice, my husband had a vegetarian option which was substantial and tasty. We would happily eat there again.
Not all reviews matter !!!
So after reading a lot of negative reviews we decided we needed to try it ourselves. To many keyboard bullies writing bad reviews because there " drink didn't have enough ice " The food was fantastic (maybe the queso ever) our servers where awesome and very helpful in guiding us to pick the perfect dish !!! Give it a try if you like Mexican food and don't read all negative reviews ….. Try it yourself 👍👍
one of the few Mexican restaurants here
Pretty good traditional Mexican food. Been here for lunch a few times and food is always fresh and delicious. Easy access / parking and friendly staff. We always eat from the Vegetarian menu and haven' been disappointed.
Great food
The place was crowded with a short wait. Dinner was delish. Service wonderful. I would definitely go back.
Bad over all
We had take out. It was pretty horrible. Couldn't bite into the chili relleno, asked for no tomatoes on tostada.. it was loaded with them. Enchiladas were tasteless. What a big disappointment! Won't be back.
Gone way downhill!
We used to love this place, for years, but it must be under new management. We waited for a waiter to return to our table after we asked for 5 minutes to look at the new menu that now included non-Mexican, pandering dishes. After 15 minutes a different waiter came over, took our order in barely intelligible English, and 15 minutes after THAT, brought us the wrong food, yanked it away, brought it back to the kitchen, came back out and went to another table without explanation! So we left $5 to cover the lemonade, and left. Sadly, we will NEVER GO BACK. IT USED TO BE GREAT.
Going down the drain
Recently ate at Sebastian and the food is getting worse. I had the enchilada combo. The refried beans were cold and watery, the salad was loaded with green peppers like never before. After mentioning to the waiter, he cared less. Will never eat there again.
Bad margaritas
The food was ok, so it earned the 2 stars. But it ONLY got 2 stars because of the margaritas. The house margarita tasted like sweet cleaning fluid. Upon asking for less sweet margaritas, ones made without house sour mix, only using lime and agave, the 2 results were lime juice and tequila. No sweetener at all.... Apparently it's tough to find a good margarita..
Great to be back
Haven't been here in over a year due to covid. It is so great to get our favorite Mexican food again….. and it was just a good as we remember it to be. We come here at least once a month with friends and we are already looking forward to the next visit. Food comes out hot and the chips and salsa are fantastic.
Very poor Mexican food
The restaurant was not very clean. The food was below Taco Bell quality. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
There was a sign in sheet but it wasn't used
There was a sign in sheet at the front. Turns out they weren't seating based on those signing in. We saw a lady get up and walk out because others coming in after her were seated before. The chips were very greasy and the salsa bland. A lady took our drink order but didn't take our food order. She said someone else would be by to do that. About five minutes later our waitress showed up. The mango chicken fajitas were very good. Everything else just barely average. The tortillas were not fresh or homemade.
wnJust TERRIBLE
I have been going here for YEARS, Wes here last week not only then service was awful and took over 30 just to get our food. Then mine wasnt even warm and just wasnt good. Friend taco salad chicken was just boiled and when is was put in the shell is wasnt drained and made the shell soggy. Then brought her another one and it wasnt even edible
It was good
We were seated right away. The place could use a good cleaning to be honest. Chips & salsa were ok. Our food was tasty & no complaints about the service.
Lousy drinks, lousy food and the worst customer service
My wife and I visited this restaurant yesterday. Shortly after we arrived, a waitress came to our table with some chips with " queso dip " (cheese dip). We were impressed, because most Mexican restaurants give you complimentary chips and salsa. The waitress told us she was coming right back to take our order. After waiting for a while, Daniel, the bartender / waiter, came to take our order and we told him we needed to see the menu, which he quickly brought. Soon after, we placed our order for drinks and food. While reading the menu, my wife pointed out that the " queso dip " was $5.99 and I told her, well it must be complimentary, because we didn't order it and they can't charge us for that. We didn't even have menus when the waitress brought the " queso dip ". The margaritas were watered down and the food was overcooked and poorly seasoned. We love Mexican food, but this was inferior to Taco Bell and I like Taco Bell. When we got our check, I noticed we were being charged $5.99 for the " queso dip ". I called Daniel (the bartender / waiter) and I told him we didn't order that and his reply was " but you already ate it ". I told him that we assumed that was complimentary, like in most Mexican restaurants, but he refused to take it off the check. I didn't want to argue anymore with him, but when I signed the credit card receipt, it's needless to say, I put " zero " for tip with my written message " NEVER ARGUE WITH A CUSTOMER, BECAUSE THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT " (the old Sears Customer Service motto). I hope that would teach him a lesson is customer service. With lousy drinks, lousy food and the worst customer service, " one star " is too much for this place.
Great take out of fish tacos and shrimp buritto
Tried the fish tacos and shrimp burrito for lunch today and they were excellent. Now, with that said, we prefer our fish tacos with a fillet inside, but these had the Mahi Mahi cut up in chunks. Still tasted great. Came, of course with rice, some lettuce and guacamole. The shrimp burrito was loaded with shrimp and came with refried beans, lettuce, rice and chopped tomato. Always nice staff.
Wouldn't serve party of 4
My brother and his wife were visiting from The Villages and suggested we try Ay Jalisco Mexican Restaurant. The closest to us was Sebastian, FL, about 20 minutes from our home. As it was nearing 8pm my wife called to see if reservations would be necessary and when told no she indicated we would be leaving our home and heading directly to the restaurant. In the meantime I checked to verify their closing time which was listed as 10pm. Our group immediately jumped in the car and went on our way, arriving a little after 8:30pm. The restaurant appeared empty but as we got out of the car a man came to the door and told us they were closed. The sign that said open when we arrive suddenly changed to closed. My wife told him she had called, was told we did not need a reservation and did not say they would be closing in 30 minutes. I questioned him on the hours listed on the website but he just shook his head. It was my belief restaurants were having a hard time during this pandemic but apparently Ay Jalisco is doing well enough to turn people away. My wife and I enjoy Mexican food but after this episode I see no reason to travel To be honest, I see no reason to ever return to this restaurant, apparently new 20 minutes to this location. Obviously new business / customers is not very important to them.
Mediocre
Came at 5pm, fairly busy, but not much of a wait, sat outside so the service was slow, friendly staff, the food was mediocre, Fajita salad was under seasoned, very bland, the Carnitas Supreme has shrimp with the shells still on, very difficult to eat snd didn't want to pick through and have to pull the shells off, large portions, margaritas were good, just don't think I will be back too often 😉
No problem with the food but..
please only use cash at this establishment. Yes, we like the food and we frequent here but... for now and forever we only pay our bill in cash. Some waiters are better than others. Some waitress are honest and some are not. Food though is good for being so close being in Sebastian. True authentic Mexican however can be found elsewhere.
Great Mexican
This is a small local chain with 4 locations. The service and food is outstanding. They have a happy hour meals until 5:30 which is a few bucks cheaper than their standard menu🤩.
Great little Mexican restaurant
This is a great little restaurant in Sebastian FL great atmosphere real friendly staff get a taste of good Mexican food at a reasonable price
Horrible food and service!
Went for a family lunch on the weekend. Party was a total of 6 guests and a toddler. First... we were sat at a table with the vent blowing right on us to the point everyone was cold. Okay... we changed tables. We ordered drinks after waiting 15 minutes for a server. They come back another 10 minutes later and place our order... almost 35 minutes later... the food arrives, but not all the food. At this point we decide it is what it is and make the best of it. We don't have enough plate settings.. ask for that. Food arrives have to ask for place settings again. Tell the server we need 2 refills... one comes, we never get the other. I get to taste my food and have to add salt and pepper to it since it tastes bland! I have never had that experience in any Mexican restaurant before. Needless to say, my family won't be going back.
Very Good Mexican!
Took my family here recently, we were pleasantly surprised, very busy place, sever was great, large menu with a great selection. Portions were very big! Had the chicken chimichanga it was huge and delicious. Also indulged in a Cadillac Margarita delicious! Would definitely recommend this place.
Mexican Fajitas and Margaritas
We stopped in here first night in Sebastian. We had to leave for a personal reason, but we told them we would be back. After we took care of a few things, we went back and they couldn't have been nicer. We sat in a booth, had a margarita and salsa with chips. We shared fajitas for two, chicken and steak, very large portions we were stuffed. Brought some vegetables and tortillas back to eat next day. We love this place. Will be back.
Solid Mexican food
Came here on a Friday night and they were packed! We just sat at the bar and ate. Great service. The food was good, just not outstanding. That being said, the food was fresh, fast and hot. Chips and salsa to start and a great cocktail menu. I would eat here again.
Always Good
This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. The atmosphere is very pleasant, the service top notch, and the food is excellent no matter what you get. We always get the chicken dishes and love them all. My husband always saves room for the fried ice cream. During the season, it gets crowded quickly so go early if you don't want a wait. They also have an outside area to eat now which is pleasant in cooler weather. All in all this place can't be beat. The prices are reasonable as well.
dinner near the hotel
I went to Ay Jalisco with some coworkers because it was real close to the hotel we were staying at. I had the Pork Carnitas and they were excellent. Our server was attentive and friendly. All of our meals were very good. It was so good that we went back a second time during the week. The prices are very reasonable.
Awesome awesome food!!!
Wife and I love this place!!! Great food!!! Great wine!!! Great prices! Great staff!!! You can't go wrong going here!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Dinner
Fantastic every time we come!!!! My favorite place to eat in Sebastian- never disappoints. Price is remarkably affordable.
Made my day
A lemonade and some chips, a chicken taco lunch. Introduced some flavors I've been missing. Nice. Thank you
YUMMY!
My go-to place for delicious food. Never a bad time or bad meal. When friends are in town, we always look forward to a good time at Ay Jalisco.
Fun restaurant
Whenever our Jersey family comes down for a visit, we do dinner at Ay Jalisco. The meals are plentiful, and delicious. The chips keep coming as long as we ask. We all had something different, and everyone was satisfied. In fact, on this day, I didn't feel like Mexican, so I ordered a NY Strip steak, for $15.99, and it was a good size, and cooked to perfection, and was very flavorable. The staff was very pleasant, and got us everything we wanted. They frequently stopped by to check on us. I highly recommend this little gem.
Alway enjoy! Plentiful and delicious food at fair price
Can't go wrong for lunch or dinner. Better be hungry - big plates of fresh food! Beautiful and clean bathroom - which is a plus for me.
Fresh Fast and Freindly
After leaving the free outdoor concert tonight in Sebastian my sister had a yen for Mexican so we decided on Ay! Jalisco a place we'd heard was good. And as a snobby New Yorker I have to say we loved it. Ok, it's not as spicy as I'm used to in nyc but it was really so fresh and just simply delicious. I had the perfectly prepared enchiladas verde with chicken. The rice and beans were just right, not mere afterthoughts. The staff is friendly, fun and welcoming too. All in all just a perfect end to a great day.
birthday dinner
My daughter and two teen aged grandchildren love Mexican food, myself, not a big fan, however, it was my daughters birthday and that is where she wished to go. After looking over the menu, I discovered a nice T-bone steak, with sides to my liking. They all three had different traditional Mexican dishes which I cannot pronounce, nor begin to spell correctly, so we will leave it with all three said their meal was excellent, the portions were a good size and each had some to take home in a doggy bag.. as far as my steak went, it was cooked correctly, an ample serving, and a very good seasoning on a very tender cut of meat. In the past, I have always skipped going there with the family, but, from now on I will be certain to join them for a very good meal.
Terrific Value & Great Service
An exceptional stop for lunch. Generous selection of " lunch specials " with satisfying portions and so reasonably priced. A full bar is available as well. Every meal starts with complimentary salsa and freshly fried corn chips. You can't go wrong with a full meal at the price of fast food! Service is cheerful accomodating and professional.
Authentic Mexican food
Wonderful, friendly staff, fresh food, and reasonable prices made our visit a lot of FUN! Accommodating staff aims to please you and certainly did with our visit.
worst Mexican food AND SALSA AND CHIPS I ever had
Took one hour to get our food. Place was not busy at all. CHIPS WERE VERY HARD AND BURNT. salsa was very bad. worst I ever had. It was straight from a can or bottle. not freshly made at all in the restaurant. Vegetable fajita was not cooked at all. Had lots of carrots and onions in Fajitas few mushrooms. Not cooked at all. Enchiladas were bad. Rice was dried out. I will not go back there again.
Great service and food, very worth the visit
Visiting from upstate NY, where we can't find decent Mexican food, Ay Jalisco is always a pleasure to visit. Service is always fast, draft Dos Equis is cold, and food is excellent, and reasonably priced. Can't go wrong with this place if you love good Mexican food. And the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa are a great appetizer.
Great food... always!
My wife and I love coming here! The staff is always great! The food is spicy and done just right! Please keep it up!
Great food & Margaritas
We had the Enchilada Combination Platters. They were excellent. We never walk away hungry when we go here. Their 2 for 1 Happy Hour is Great. Love the Margaritas. Always have a great meal when we go.
Great Mexican food
We are new to the Sebastian area looking for places to visit and restaurants to go to. We picked this one as we were driving. We couldn't have liked it more. Great food. Not the most elegant but super great food. We will be going back definitely.
What a pleasant surprise!
Being in Florida, we did not see much Mexican food and we were very happy with the service and the home cooked taste to everything.
Tex mex and will not disappoint
We went for lunch chips and salsa came immediately and was good not too spicy. It's a big menu and the lunch specials were very reasonable. We thought the burritos would be lunch size they were huge. One would have been enough for two. Good choice for Mexican beers. This is a chain and I hope they are all this good. Fast service
Great salsa
Always love their salsa, mild and the hot are both good. I ended up getting the vegetarian poblano and it was perfect. Lots of vegetables and garlic cooked inside. The rice and beans sides are also very good and the salad was fresh.
BYOSC (Bring your own Sour Cream)
First, you only get the first basket of chips for free, after that it is $1.29. And the sour cream they give you is only one teaspoon size. My wife asked to trade her rice and beans for extra sour cream guac and pico. The waitress said no problem. When she dropped off the plate with her sour cream and guacamole it was just a teaspoon size and no pico de gallo. Then she brought her fajitas, which were not sizzling so they must have been sitting a while. My plate was barely warm when I got it so I know it had been sitting, the cheese in the enchilada had begun to congeal. The waitress didn't come back to check on us till we were nearly done and that's when I asked her for more sour cream and guacamole. She then brought some but charged us $5! I asked her about it and she refused to take it off the bill. She said that she had brought extra already and that was a bunch of you know what. Terrible customer service.
Good Food, Amply Portions, Friendly Service, Convenient Location!
My husband and I stopped in for an early lunch today. We were greeted and seated promptly. The staff was polite, friendly, and helpful. After reviewing the menu we both decided to order the Veracruz combo @ $14.99 (Chicken & Shrimp). While waiting for our meal to come we enjoyed a basket of chips and salsa. Our entrees arrived on a huge platter, there was so much food we brought half of it home. The Veracruz combo was very good. Our bill with 2 beverages prior to our tip $36.88.
Very good
I like Mexican and eat it often. I've had food all over the country. That said this place impressed me. I was most please with the Mexican pizza! Hands down the best I've had. Salsa was dang good to. Diego was waiter and very good and Attentive. Place could be a tad cleaner but not bad at all. Food made up for any decor shortcomings. Prices are very reasonable.
Mexican in Sebastian
I was really impressed. I am in a Power Chair and they were very helpful in finding us a table ad making it comfortable. Very friendly. It is not a huge restaurant but set up to accommodate quite a few. I had an Enchilada with beans and rice. It also had a small slaw salad. I loved the entire plate. Hubby had the Pork Carnitas and cleaned his plate! Need I say more? The menu offers a great selection. I would like to go again and branch out.
Dinner
Wonderful food. Excellent white cheese dip. Friendly staff. Child friendly. Easy to find. Full bar. Large portions
Nice fajitas
We were in the area and wanted to try a local restaurant so we stopped on this one. The atmosphere and service were very good and when the food came.. wow, wow, nice beautiful presentation and... TASTE. I do recommended it
Awesome meal
My daughter and I enjoyed a great meal. Staff was very friendly!! And even if you do not like Mexican, they do have a small choice if other meals.
Great Mexican Food
This little restaurants was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere was wonderful. The food was very good. Service was fast and friendly. Very affordable too14.98 for two from the lunch menu.
Delicioso e ótimo preço
Comida mexicana de verdade !!! Tudo delicioso. Atendimento ótimo. Sopa de frutos do mar incrível. Preços ótimos. Sempre há fila de espera.
You Can't Miss With This Mexican Food / Restaurant
This place is wonderful--we have been going there for years. They serve a great chunky salsa with warm tortilla chips and take drink orders almost immediately. They have lunch specials till 3pm and early bird specials before 6 (not sure about that time). Anyhow, the portions are huge and delicious; the food comes out quickly and don't forget about the fried ice cream dessert! Accepts reservations for party of 7 or more only and they DO get busy in the early evenings... It is a family run operation, recently updated with several locations in FL.
Roaches
Closed for roaches. Health dept. closed them down for roaches in the food. We used to like this place but it apparently has bad management. I'm totally grossed out, people found roaches in their enchiladas, and the health dept. checked them out and the kitchen got shut down. It's in the paper, yuck 🤢
Doors locked
Went to eat at 9:15 PM the hours are till 10pm. Had a party of 8 refused service said they were not open. Don't understand will never go back there and won't recommend to anyone.
No service
We stopped in for a couple of Margarita's and dinner. We sat at the bar which was dirty. The bartender came in from outside and said he would be with us in a minute. He then brought out chips and salsa and placed them on the dirty bar. Then proceeded to clear a table of dirty dishes (all while we are still waiting for a drink). Then when it finally looked like he was going to get our drink order he stopped to check a table out. They still had a full drink in front of them. We asked if he was going to wait on us (after 10 / 15 minutes of waiting) and he laughed at us like we did not matter. We got up and left.
The Mahi Burrito is Fantastic!
My friend and I ate at this restaurant over this past weekend. I had the mahi burrito and it was the best fish burrito that I've ever eaten; and I've eaten many over the years. Our server was very polite and hospitable. This is a very good restaurant. I've eaten at both of the AY Jalisco's in Vero Beach and at the one in Clermont, FL; however, this Sebastian location is by far the best!
Horribly undercooked food
Burrito vegtables were raw, stuffed chili relanos had unmelted cheese with a toothpick in it. Never again.
Great value for the money
We love this restaurant. The only feedback from another family member is that there need to be should be no flavor. Raw onions does it for us. Otherwise service is exceptional and the food is always great
Great food, good prices, fast service
Had lunch at Ay Jalisco in Sebastian while on a FL location. Not much authentic Mexican in upstate NY where I live. My simple menu consisted of a dos Equiis dark beer, a beef taco and a chicken burrito. The fresh taco chips and salsa served immediately are delicious. I ate almost the whole basket, but had to stop since my lunch seemed to arrive within 5 minutes. Both a al carte items were excellent, with good freshness and flavor. Tasted better than any Mexican food I get back home. Total price was under $10. Can't beat it for food, price, and service!
Building under construction but not the food
Took advice of TA and went to the Sebastian Ay Jalisco, figured the Vero Beach one would be too touristy. Great choice, right off US1. A little hard to see as bldg under construction and trees in front. Parking could be a problem. No impact on service and food. We were seated on arrival around 430PM and within 15 minutes place was packed. Super service and excellent food. No rush. I had shrimp special, 7 large shrimp, my wifwe had super chicken chimichanga and it was packed with shredded chicken not ground meat. Neither dish overly spiced, variety of sauces on the table. If you like Mexican, this is definitely the place to eat.
Oh Boy!
So we each order a drink, me root beer and my wife water with lime. Whats comes was the beginning of odd, my wife got dr. pepper with a lemon and I got dr. pepper. First score two thumbs down. Noiw waiting for the meal. I order b56 a chimichonga it was cold but the plate was smoking hot. My wifes vegetable feta burrito had no feta and was very greasy. When our server gave us our food he took our chips. He only asked if our meal was ok once hen I had one bite to go. Overall very disappointed! This use to be a good place to eat back before they moved to there new location. To many other better choices for dinner out in Vero Beach Florida.
Not bad.
We visited on a Friday night around 7pm. It was crowded but we only had to wait about 20 minutes for our party of 3. Not bad. When seated, the server came over to take our drink order. I ordered a margarita - there's no choice of tequila and it's definitely made from a mix, but it was cheap. I wish the server would have offered me the grande, as I didn't know that was an option until after mine arrived. The chips & salsa were good, but as others noted, they charge for refills. Odd. The food was good. I had enchiladas verdes. They were chincy with the verdes sauce but the chicken was tender. My husband had steak fajitas and the size of the steak was huge. It was a nice piece of meat & he enjoyed it. All in all it was a fine experience. I don't know if I'd put it on my " must try " list but it wasn't disappointing.
Ay Jalisco a must!
Always great! We live in Sebastian and always a favorite spot to eat... chips and salsa are always delicious and staff always friendly!
Something for Everyone!
This was the first time my husband and I went here alone. Hubby not a big fan of Mexican but loves the Shrimp with mushrooms in garlic butter! He orders the rice and cole slaw for his sides! I love everything on the menu so his being able to order something other than a burger or steak makes us both very happy! Atmosphere is great! Staff are friendly. Chips and salsa fantastic!!!
Dinner
This is my favorite Ay Jalisco restaurant (there's many). Wait staff always is kind and helpful, and the food is always consistent.
Darn good food!
Neat and clean. Happy staff made it a pleasure to dine there. Food very good, quick and hot. Servings are large! Parking can be tight but worth it.
Great local spot to dine with friends and family
We eat at the Sebastian Ay Jalisco fairly regularly. Sometimes as just a couple, other times with friends and family. Several meals out with different visiting family saw us eating here for the third time in a month recently. The food is always hot and tasty and the service is friendly and fast. The prices are also very reasonable. They provide complimentary chips and salsa when you sit down that are a great prelude to your meal to come. The restaurant used to be too small for the amount of business they did (used to be a stand alone Papa John's and a KFC before that many years back) however, they went through a remodel awhile back and there is quite a bit more dining room space and a bar area. The remodel also brought with it a nice facade and interior decor. Now we never have to wait longer than 10 minutes and more often than not are seated immediately (we like to eat quite a bit later than the normal Sebastian early-bird-crowd). We have sampled many menu items but our go to meals are the cheese enchiladas (served with rice, refried bean and cole slaw) and the tacos all pastor (pork tacos served with rice, refried bean, and pico de gallo). Other favorites include the zucchini burrito, queso dip, and pollo a la parrilla. While not normally a drinker, I have sampled their mango margarita and found it quite tasty. Skip the desserts, they are uninspired.
Celebration Dinner
Went out to celebrate dinner with my son for a great job done in school. It was his 1st time and my 20th (hahaha) but I told him trust me you will enjoy and that we both did! I had my favorite the Chicken Chimichanga that was perfect and my son soft tacos. Definitely one my favorite restaurant's to keep in my rotation.
The best Mexican for miles!
Always a wonderful authentic meal here, friendly wait staff and great prices - you can't go wrong, and a super happy hour 4-6.
Ladies Lunch
Our weekly Ladies lunch took us to Ay Jalisco a great Mexican restaurant here in Sebastian. The Margaritas was terrific we all had 2. My husband is not a fan of Ethnic food so when the Ladies Lunch comes around I am up for whatever they choose. This place was great. The food was more than ample and just the right spice.
Good food
We wanted something light since it was so hot after a long day's drive. Stopped here and hAd the chicken de mole and it was the best I've had. Service was OK, good food makes up for it!
Very good and great staff
Everything about this place is fun and good. The staff is very friendly and the food is very good. The restaurant is larger and the added room is excellent, they have a few table outside and the bar has plenty of room.
lousy service
went there for dinner. asked waht kind of tequillia they had. Given a list and waiter walked away. Sat and waited for him to return as i don't know one from another. He never did and i flagged down a waitress. Asked her for a house tequillia Reposado. she said all on the list were house and walked off. leaving me to figure out which was the amber colored type We walked out and went to the Cuban restaurant which is excellent
Good food along with atmosphere.
Gonna start out by saying it's not " fine " dining... It's busy, many people coming and going. Good food, decent service. I've had much worse,
Great food
Dinner with friends was great.. early bird specials and a happy hour... trio fajitas was enough for 2 to share... will return
Family gathering
This was our first time going to Jalisco. Will be going back. There were 18 of us and one of our party, not me, made the reservation. Smaller groups would not need a reservation. We all arrived within 10 min of requested time and were promtly seated. Weekday late afternoon and there were several other tables seated and eating. Within a min or two drinks were on the tables. I think all dishes were hot and quick to arrive. We had two joined tables and a booth. Friendly, hot, fast and tasty. No issues, no food sent back and the fajitas were sizzling when they arrived. Thanks for hosting five families.
Delicious Meal!
Enjoyed a lovely lunch. Meals were good, service was excellent. Nice restaurant. Would definitely try it again when we are in the area.
If you want good Mexican style food, this is the place!
Loaded nachos with shrimp, chicken, or steak ~ I ordered it about 5 years ago, and still order the same thing! So yummy, I've not wandered to the rest of the menu. They serve homemade tortilla chips and salsa while you're waiting for your meal (which is just enough time to get your order freshly cooked). The staff is super friendly and attentive. Very clean restaurant, with a newly added on bar and lively section for those who like to dine in the light and music. Personally, I like the older section with the big booths where it is a bit darker. Prices are awesome, just can't say enough good things about this restaurant. I do wish I had the secret recipe to their Sangria though, which is awesome! Lunch, dinner... it's always an experience in itself.
Love to eat here whenever we visit
The Mexican ambiance and selection of fresh meals is terrific. We always make a point of visiting the one in Sebastian - better that those in Vero Beach.
Best Mexican food in a while
Best Mexican food we've had in a while. We came across this restaurant while visiting Sebastian and decided to give it a try, my husband ordered the chimichangas and I had the burrito and both were really good. Service was also good we had a really good experience overall.
We love this place
I cannot believe what they did to the old Swensens ice cream parlor. They gave it a complete Mexican makeover but yet kept the wonderful train that always keeps going. The food is evenly Tex and Mex.compared with Texas, this place would be average, because the food is so good there. In Florida, it is outstanding, so my rating splits the difference Unlike most Mexican restaurants, I liked the beans and rice. They are not an afterthought. The chili rellenos enchiladas and tamales were like I remembered many years ago. One reviewer loved the chicken mole. I did not see it on the menu. My meal came with cucumbers in the pico de gallo. Other meals have slaw or salad. Inquire if you have cucumber issues. The service was great and the lunch prices a great value. This place is very busy because the food is good. The service is great and tables do not go empty long without being reset. That is a sign of a well managed restaurant.
Family visit
I was so excited to eat at a New Mexican restaurant and the food here was awful! 2 of the people in our group, one who is Mexican loved the food. I ordered a combo with enchiladas and tacos. From the first bite of refried beans to a couple of bites of the enchiladas I couldn't eat anymore. I am not a picky eater and I even like the enchilada TV dinner you buy in the grocery store. This was awful. Service was very good, just not the food.
Great Mexican Food at a Good Price
Went to Ay Jalisco last night for first time, and we loved it! Huge number of choices on the menu. Huge portions. Food tasted fresh and delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful... excellent service Can't wait to go back!
Great food
Best Mexican fair within 100 miles. Food is always as or better than expected. Prices are very reasonable. Service is great. Always with a smile.
Authentic
Great go to for yummy Mexican food in Sebastian. Love the inexpensive lunch specials, and great salsa. Also very consistent with quality, love the fajitas too, now with a full liquor bar it's better cause Mexican is always better with margaritas!
Excellent authentic Mexican food!
Not many places open here on a Sunday night, but Ay Jalisco was packed. The food was authentic Mexican (not Tex-Mex) and was very good. The chili rellenos were fantastic, as was the fried ice cream. The tamale was very good, and the cheese enchilada was also. If you want Tex-Mex you should go someplace else, but if you want excellent Mexican food with true refried beans and rice, and no shortage of cheese, this place I highly recommended.
Excellent!
This place is really nice. Great decor and atmosphere. Bar area is very inviting. Margaritas are also very good. I had the taco salad, my sister and brother in law had some kind of chicken dish, both outstanding. The salsa is perfect. Can't wait to go back.
Authentic Mexican Atmosphere and Food
This restaurant provides the local area with authentic mexican food. The food here is served hot and delicious. Never a bad meal. Although there are several Ay Jaliscos located throughout Indian River County, this one has the better decor and atmosphere. Service is always a priority here and has never been a problem. The chips and salsa are a home run. Lunch specials fit the business mans budget and is not expensive at all. Try is all... Great food and a great time.
Good Mexican
Love their white cheese dip. Dislike that the actual dish burns to the touch and top of rice is crispy from sitting under heat lamp.
Too Big
First time there in about a year, Expansion noticeable. Loud, seats close. Food still delicious, couldn't even fit my favorite fried ice cream!
" Closed early on 5 / 16 / 2017 "
Doors were locked shut on Tuesday May 16, 2017 @ 8:50p. m..... web info claims that they are open till 10p. m.... i would recommend that you call first if planning a vist in the evening to verify the business hours.. As for the food " it is very good " from my past visits here & I would recommend that you try it..... I will return again...
Not Consistent!
This was always a sure bet for us for consistently great food but alas something has changed. I kind of hate to admit it but the reason I know this is that 90% of the time my wife and I always order the same dishes! The size and amount of shrimp and onions in my order used to fill four or five flour tortillas... now MAYBE two. My wife's chicken and steak dish the same. This has happened the last few times we've been there and although it was a once a week visit for us I think we are done for a bit. Hopefully they will return to the way they were previously, though I wonder if this may coincide with their opening a new location in Vero.... hmmm.
Good food and service
We had dinner recently with friends when visiting the area. Our table service was good - friendly and courteous. The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. The kitchen service was less good; some of the food came out a little slow. As others have noted, the restaurant can be a little noisy when full. Our dinners were good, though one of our orders came out wrong and took time to correct. Our rating would have been higher if the food had been quicker and correct. We will eat here again when we are in the area.
Best Mexican meal in a long time
We were there about 40 minutes before closing, but no one there behaved like that. We were seated (and re-seated at our request) promptly. Our waiter was extremely friendly and explained so many of the dishes. He even managed to get my husband to order something other than a burrito or chimichanga - that took talent! The chips were typical, but the salsa was different from others - in a good way I mean. I ordered a margarita and was pleasantly surprised. It too was a bit different from your standard margarita - it wasn't quite as tart and had some unique deeper taste to it. I started with the tortilla soup, which was wonderful (and very good-sized in that I ordered a cup, not a bowl). I had the side serving of chicken chimi. Good thing, as it was too big to even finish. It was absolutely stuffed with meat. My husband ordered the beef flautas, and they were wonderful as well. We will be back for sure!
Best Mexican food in the area
We visited Ay! Jalisco last year when we were in the area and loved it. So this year we returned. I had the fish tacos, which were great. My husband had a dish with chicken and huge shrimp in a garlic butter sauce--he raved about it for days. We will return.
Great Enchiladas! next time if I go I will have Hot tomales!
Service was great! food was great! They give you lots of food. Not too spicy Just right! Before the meal came you get a basket full of restaurant nachos & mild spicey dipping sauce! price was great! 9.99 for many of the Mexican dinners.
Excellent Mexican
The restaurant was not crowded. Our server Daniel was very friendly. Fast service. The chicken fajitas were out of this world. We ordered the fajitas for 2. We had plenty left over for the following days lunch. We also ordered the combination Enchiladis. They were shredded beef, shredded chicken and the ground beef. All were excellent, but the shredded beef was the favorite. Perfect seasonings. Great value. So much food for the price! Next time we are in Vero Beach we will return!
