Wonderful dining experience
Food and service were absolutely amazing!! Best wonton soup, crab ragoon, General Tso chicken, and Teppanyaki chicken we have ever had. All of the food was full of flavor and sauces. Totally recommend this restaurant!! 5 Stars ⭐ +
Underrated hidden gem!
We have only visited once to date, but we have only great things to say about our visit. I can't believe this place is so underrated. The dining area was super clean, the staff were friendly and very fast, and the food was delicious! I had the chicken lo mein and my husband had the sesame chicken. We received our food in under five minutes after ordering, and the portions were huge. We live an hour away but we will definitely be back!
Excellent fresh food!
Fresh, fresh, fresh! Very good food, good quality and fast service. We love this place and usually will pick up and order to take home. Very friendly servers and front helpers.
Excellent food at very reasonable prices
Order at the counter from the very friendly young women who are the wait staff, and they deliver each heaping plate to your table as soon as it is made. (How can they get THAT MUCH FOOD on one plate?) This can mean that one meal is delivered several minutes before another, so go ahead and dig in as soon as you are served! A glass of water is 25 cents, which is a pittance considering the reasonable-to-low prices of the entrees. A bottle of water is $2 We are old folks and can't eat as much as we used to do, so one meal is more than plenty for us to share and we still bring home part of it. They do not charge extra for an extra empty plate like some places do. We also appreciate that we can do take out (as tons of folks do) and get the same excellent food and the same enormous portions. The only people we have seen who do not carry take out boxes after they are done eating are the very, very few who leave the extra food on their plates. If you love broccoli more than anything else in the world and prefer it to be barely cooked, you will love the dishes that feature (crunchy) broccoli. We learned that the hard way, and brought home enough broccoli for 5 more generous servings. As with a lot of places, we have tried various things and settled on our favorites, one of which is the chicken Pad Thai - specify medium if you don't want " blow your head off hot. " I ordered mild once and it had no " hot " at all. The medium has been just the right combination of sweet and spicy for our tastes. Our other favorite is the moo goo gai pan, with fairly large pieces of perfectly sautéed very tender chicken, and enough meat for more than two normal eaters. When their menu says hot it means HOT, so be sure to specify medium or mild when you order if you can't take the heat. Really! Hubby loved the hot and sour soup, but be forewarned that " a cup " of soup here is the equal of a bowl of soup elsewhere. I made the mistake of ordering a bowl of egg drop soup once. It was truly enough for 4 people! How they can serve that much food with the more than generous amount of meat (in our case, chicken) for the price they charge is amazing. However, if you order a shrimp meal, you will get just a few shrimp. We eat there more often in the summer because we have great difficulty seeing to drive at night, so winter meals there have to be lunch. Date night? SURE! On Valentine's day 2023 the place was filled with couples of all ages from older teens to " we old folk! " Family meals? You betcha!
Total recommendation
Clean restaurant, roomy. Food is excellent: freshly cooked as ordered, seasoned perfectly, mega portions (we take home two more meals from each entree!). Workers are pleasant and helpful. Positive experience each time we've been.
Great fresh Asian food!
Quick service and excellent Asian food. Love it! Reasonable prices. Quick, friendly service! Highly recommend.
I need more
I've been to a couple different places this week and this happened to be one of the two I want to go back to. The food was absolutely amazing and they give you soooo much l. Ordered the chicken pad Thai and the chicken tepppanyaki. Sooooo much foood and I still want more.
Very good Asian food; service
Customers order at the counter; meals delivered to your table. Friendly staff Prompt Venue is bright and clean Food is very good ; not excellent, but very good! Without question, best Chinese in Crossville sland the surrounding area. We really love the food and come here often. Serving sizes are very large - so easy for one couple to split an entree Enjoy
Beats fast food anyway
Enjoy trying new places out and this one was on our way to visit friends. Lunch is what we had and you pick your sauce, protein, and sides. I got the teppanhaki chicken with rice and mixed vegetables and the hubs had sesame shrimp which were fried and large and rice with mixed vegetables. Flavors were on spot and good. We were extremely full and thought the price was spot on. We'll be sure to stop again.
Short Staffed, Poor Organization
First of all, the food was excellent. However, the hostess / order taker was unfriendly, unorganized, with no seeming desire to be there. We ordered a full meal (Mongolian Beef) with soup, spring roll, and fried dumpling and drinks. The drinks didn't arrive until the meal was served and the spring roll didn't arrive until we were finished with the entire dinner and had asked about the spring roll five times. We were told they were busy and would have to wait our turn for the spring roll; however our " turn " was very long before 20+ customers came in after we ordered and had been served their food. The hostess was rather nasty in her excuses for not providing the spring roll until after we were done eating. The kitchen staff was well understaffed.
Go elsewhere.... You deserve better
OK, so we are vacationing at Fairfield Glade and decide we would have Chinese for dinner. We decided to go to Ah Mah & Son based on the high reviews, one of the most recent read " Best Chinese in Crossville. " Now, in response I would say 1) You need to get out (of Crossville) more often, and 2) such a comment does not bode well for the other Crossville Chinese restaurants. Where do I begin.... * Placed our order at the counter - OK " the best " Crossville has to offer does not have true table service. (I wish I had known that in advance.) Ordered a shrimp and chicken combination dish. * Food gets delivered to our table, with only the serving basket for two spring rolls. No small plates, etc. I went and got napkins... (no plates readily available for grabbing). * Entrée gets delivered on a serving plate, without any individual plates. While the server goes to get individual plates, my wife notices that there are only shrimp on the plate and we tell this to the server when they return with our plates. The server takes the entrée back to the kitchen. * Server returns with the entrée after a short wait with both shrimp and chicken, but with half the original shrimp and then tells us there is an upcharge of $5 for the chicken. WTF? You got the order wrong, oh well, we do want to eat, so pay the $5. * Food itself is mediocre but palatable. We finish and head to the door passing the counter where we placed our order originally. * I look at the receipt for our meal and it clearly says Asian Spicy Shrimp $11.25. Opps, I wish I had seen that when I originally placed our dinner order. The big board with all the dishes on it says Teppanyaki Shrimp $11.25 and Teppanyaki Shrimp and Chicken (which is what we had actually ordered) $12.25. Hmm. $5 upcharge for Chicken, and the price difference between Shrimp and Chicken and just plain Shrimp is only $1. WTF? Protracted " discussion " with three servers at the counter I THINK they finally understood my point: You charged me a $5 upcharge for adding chicken when the listed prices only show a $1 delta.... and by the way this was YOUR mistake. But the servers need to discuss with the owner. The owner " is too busy " to come out and talk with us, but they have reluctantly relented to refund me my $4. Wow, that was hard. Bottom-line: When in Crossville and craving Chinese food.... go out for pizza.
Consistently excellent food
We have been eating from here almost weekly since we moved here a year ago. The Power Bowl Extreme is amazing. That's our predominant choice. Their fried rice is excellent and we always ask for the fried rice with the power bowl instead of the steamed for this reason. I have never found better egg rolls or better spring rolls. The honey sauce, shrimp sauce, and teppanyaki sauces are fantastic. Gyoza is delicious and their lo mein noodles are my favorite of any I've tried. We also like their chicken teppanyaki dish, chicken and steak teppanyaki dish, moo goo gai pan, and phoenix and dragon as well. The only miss I've had here is they don't do pad thai like I'm used to. It has a fish sauce taste to it that turns me off when I'm expecting a peanut sauce. I like their crab rangoon, but I like crab rangoon in a sweet and sour sauce and I don't care for their sweet and sour sauce for some reason. Other than those two things, everything we've had has been excellent. The online ordering system is super easy to use and they do a wonderful job packing everything up nicely for pickup / to-go. What I appreciate most about them - other than great prices and how well they adapted to making sure we could get their food safely with their drive thru - is how consistently good the food is. It's crave-worthy to be honest. The way they cook the meat in the power bowl... I'm sure people are sick of me saying Ah Mah every time they ask me what I feel like eating.
No Longer What It Used to Be
This restaurant opened in 2017 and used to have great food; however, since COVID in March 2020, it has been closed for dining-in ever since and the only available access is phone-in orders to be picked up at a drive-through window. The quality of food has greatly deteriorated. We tried a carry-out dinner today (Kan Shaw Beef), a spicy dish which used to be a favorite and found it to be highly over-spiced to the point of being uncomfortable and with burned edges and the beef very dried out. The vegetables were also over-done and highly over-spiced. The egg roll was hard and dried out. The wonton soup was flavorless. Only two people were in the employ today. Almost all restaurants in this town are fully open with dine-in service except McDonalds, Arbys, and Ah Mah. Until they re-open, other choices will be used.
Went there because of reviews
It was possibly the worse chinese food EVER! Would never recommend this. Noodles belonged in an Italian Restaurant.
Best of the Best
Simply the finest Chinese food I have ever had in my entire life, and I am almost 56. Spectacular in every way, food decor, you name it!
Boba Tea!!
I was out running errands and decided to stop in and try this place out! I really love there hong Kong boba tea with extra boba. I have been hooked and craving one since I had it. People are friendly as well
Large Portions
We are amazed at the size of the portions. We love the noddle dishes and the fried rice is wonderful. Open and modern atmosphere
strange restaurant, not much atmosphere but food was good
We went with friends for dinner, the restaurant is a little odd, no atmosphere at all, tables in a block building, but the food was very good
Great
The food is excellent... the atmosphere is good..... Everytime I have eaten here it has been excellent... Love this place
Modern decor, tasty food, quick service
I stopped here for dinner while in town before a musical at the local playhouse. The service was quick as you order and pay upfront then go sit down to wait on food. The appetizer came out within a few minutes and the entree within another 5 minutes. The staff was very attentive and friendly, checking back with us and offering refills several times. It was a perfect little place for my daughter and I to enjoy a good Asian meal. The chicken was quality and the veggies were fresh. It was an average to large portion. Enough for sharing when paired with an appetizer. The decor was clean and modern. Good experience!
Awesome place to eat!
Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. The food portions are huge. The food is fresh and prepared well. I've been here several times and have had great meals each visit as did the rest of my group. The Pad Thai is crazy good.... the orange chicken and sweet n sour chicken equally good. Spring rolls crisp and tasty. This has become a favorite of ours.
Great Environment, Average Asian
This is the second best Asian food in Crossville. The first being Dynasty. Ah Mah has a great atmostphere but the food is average Americanized Asian fare. I was expecting more since the owners at one time owned Dynasty and it has a good reputation. I have lived in LA, Hong Kong and Taipei and I wouldn't call this authentic. But, if you like standard Americanized Asian at a reasonable price in one of the area's more urban style settings, this is the place for you.
Disappointed
We chose this place based on reviews but we were disappointed with the food. The place is IMMACULATELY clean and really beautiful inside, but the food just didn't live up to the atmosphere. We are no strangers to Asian food having Asian relatives, but all I can compare this to is " mall quality Asian ". The food came out so fast--and oddly not both meals at the same time--that we guess the food is mostly precooked. The chicken teppanyaki had a sweet sauce, was served with rice and vegetables and was ok, but certainly not great. It came with a large side of " shrimp sauce " we weren't sure what to do with since everything had a glaze on it to begin with. It tasted more like thin thousand island dressing than anything Asian. The pad Thai was dry and had no flavor. We are used to being asked how spicy we want things so it didn't occur to me that any spice would be added to this at all since we didn't ask for it. It was mildly spicy, but too much for me. I could not eat it and traded meals with my husband. We both left very unsatisfied. Perhaps for this small town, this quality of food is adequate, and again, the place is very modern and clean inside, but I can't recommend eating here if you are familiar with and enjoy fresh Asian food. However, if you are looking for a quick, average meal in a very clean environment, this place would be perfectly fine.
Beyond Chinese. Asian Eatery
They specialize in the Teppanyaki method of cooking. Flat skillet. Huge portions. The noodles are fantastic. Very reasonable prices. Wonderful appetizers. Very clean. Very friendly. Sometimes for lunch, I just order the vegetables! In fact, if you don't want rice and noodles, you can have two your three sides as vegetables. (But don't miss the noodles!) You can also order a few traditional Chinese dishes. I take all my out of town guests here, and they are impressed! (I also take them to the new library!)
Don't miss this place
Great place to eat. The portions are large. The prices are too good to be true. Very clean. Excellent decor. Don't underestimate this place. This place is will be a repeat visit.
So much food.
This is our go-to Chinese restaurant now. Go before 4:00 p. m. so you can get the lunch portions. The dinner portions are enough for two people. You order at the front and then sit down everything is delivered to you and they come back several times to see if you need anything. The egg rolls were fresh and crunchy. Several sauces to choose from. My Gen Tso chicken was lighting coasted and crunchy (white meat). It came with noodles AND rice and vegetables. I literally brought home half for the next day. My husband ordered the sauteed shrimp and scallops. They were delicious and FRESH! The scallops were huge.
Delicious!
After reading all of the GOOD reviews on this place in Trip Advisor, hubby and I decided to try it today (6 / 20 / 18). We were not disappointed! You do order and pay at the counter. They give you a number to take to the table. A waitstaff brings your order to your table. Everything is automated to pay for it, you can even choose the percentage of tip to leave. I had a couple of questions about a dish I was interested in ordering, the young lady was very knowledgeable. I had the Teppanyaki shrimp, hubby had the chicken. We were asked if we wanted the lunch or dinner portion - we asked for the dinner. WOW! They sure do NOT skimp on the portions! choice of steamed or fried rice, plus asian noodles come with it along with crisp veggie mix. Delicious! I ordered the Strawberry green tea with ginger - AWESOME! The young ladies working there were very attentive too. We have nothing negative to say about this restaurant. highly recommend it.
Lady at front is neither Ah Mah nor his son, food is great though
Upon entering the restaurant, we were thrilled at the elegant, open atmosphere. We had succeeded in finding a great meal- now we just wanted to meet the establishment's auspicious namesake. Much to our chagrin, the cashier who took our order was not in fact the legendary Ah Mah. And no, she wasn't Ah Mah's son OR daughter either (yeah, we asked). " Nah " Mah proceeded to recommended the Teppanyaki. The four of us split two dinner portions, and it was plenty of food. While the restaurant may boast a clean interior and fresh, flavorful ingredients, this restaurant is not what it claims to be. Definitely stay away from here at all costs, unless you don't care about meeting the mysterious Ah Mah or his offspring. After our experience, we are beginning to doubt there ever was an Ah Mah to begin with.
Modern & Delicious
Ate here for the first time today and it was delicious! I got the Wednesday special which is honey chicken with rice and an egg roll. It was great! I chose to get noodles instead of rice.
Atmosphere fair... Food Fantastic!
This restaurant has very little atmosphere, but the food quality and portions are really great! The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Very good food
The food at Ah Mah and son is very tasty. I have eaten there, and Have had takeaway. It is served quickly for those people that work, and is also plentiful. I love the vegetables, and the noodles. The wonton soup is excellent too. If you like Asian food try this place.
Best. Asian. Restaurant
Ah Mah and Son is a must when I come home for a visit. The food quality, portions, price and everything is just right. I always try something new and it's consistently great. The service and atmosphere is much nicer than other places to eat in Crossville as well. If you're on the fence, just go give it a try. You won't regret it.
At Last an Exquisite Asian Eatery in Crossville!
We were quite impressed with the ambiance, menu, friendly staff & reasonable prices. I had the Teppanyaki Shrimp which were plentiful and delicious. The Mixed vegetables were cooked to perfection & the perfect compliment to the shrimp. The Lo Mein was tastey, as well as the fried rice. We ordered 2 egg rolls which were crunchy on the outside & tasted fresh. My husband had General Tso Chicken which was the best he has had. The sauce had just the right amount of " kick " to it. This terrific restaurant was decorated with 6 Christmas trees. The staff was friendy & efficient. Our plans are to go for lunch next week, and the week after, and the week after... Way to go Ah Mah and Son!
Good Asian food% !
Very good Asia food! It's a fast food type place. The food was very good, the menus offered a good variety. It's very clean and did not take long to receive your food. The prices r reasonable. I will return.
Great new choice for Crossville TN
Crossville TN is really hard-up for good restaurants, but his new Asian restaurant has to rate near the top for Crossville. Generous portions are provided for a moderately decent price. The chicken and shrimp Teppanyaki was very good. The rice, noodles and vegetables were also very good. The atmosphere is plain, simple, roomy, clean, and very adequate. The cooking and server staff was very helpful and provided frequent checks on your table. You order at the counter and the food is then delivered to your table. This restaurant rates return visits.
Surprisingly good
This small inconspicuous Asian Eatery, was more than I had hoped it would be. The food was quite good. I had the Thai chicken (*pan Thai chicken) and my sister had the Sesame chicken. We both had iced blackberry coffee and egg rolls as well. The prices are moderate and the atmosphere is low key. The childrens menu is small (Beef, shrimp & chickens) are the choices. The staff were friendly and service was good too, an over all good experience. * This is a spicy dish.
Not what I expected from this restaurant owner
We tried this restaurant twice. Both times the atmosphere was like they didn't even care you were there. Seems they are more interested in getting their tip before you get the meal. My wife had the chicken Teppanyaki and I had the Local Favorite Asian Spicy Chicken. Both times the chicken was dry and overcooked. Now to continue. We learned they are now offering more Chinese type dishes. We decided to try it for the 3rd time. We both ordered beef and broccoli. To say the least, it was well below marginal. You get plenty of noodles and rice but don't expect much meat or vegetables. 3 strikes your out!
