A very welcome stay!
A wonderful old house with beautiful design and comforts. Becky and Stu are great hosts and provide many thoughtful details to make the stay a great experience. Bed was comfortable, location within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Breakfast was superb! We would definitely stay at this fine establishment again :-)
Perfect B & B
We had a wonderful weekend at Hatfield House on Hibernia. Our room was so cozy and comfortable. We also loved the mini bar with free coffee, tea, pop, and bottled water, and of course, the incredible home-cooked, three-course breakfasts. Thank you so much for having us, Becky and Stu!
Best B & B in Stratford
We absolutely loved our stay here. Our hosts were so helpful and accommodating. Our room was great and had a private balcony. The historic house is charming and in a quiet neighborhood just a short walk to downtown. Can't say enough about the breakfasts - excellent! Definitely would stay here again.
Excellent Stay!
Our first time at Hatfield, and won't be our last! We stayed in the attic Crown room, which was spacious and lovely. Location is on the quiet side of the river, but just a short walk into town or theatres. Excellent breakfast and hosts were friendly and helpful. Highly Recommend.
Charming and comfortable
My husband and I stayed at the Hatfield House on Hibernia last week while attending the Shakespeare Festival. The B & B is close enough to downtown to walk - if you are fit you can get to the main theatre and the Tom Patterson. The hosts are delightful and full of info about the area. Breakfasts are incredible!!! We stayed in the QEI room which has a small shaded balcony - a great place to read, have a glass of wine or morning coffee. Thank you to Stu and Becky for making our stay so delightful.
Chicago Show
The 5 star reviews are for real! I hardly EVER take the time or effort to comment on our stays! Our room (Queen Victoria) room was fantastic, but all the rooms are great, as our host gave us a bit of a tour as none of the other guests had checked in yet! Stu and Becky, our host were very warm and sincere and you have to believe they love what they do! The way they work together, (I think Becky tells Stu what to do, and he is a good listener) works! They even volunteered to stay up after the show in case we needed a ride home as there was a small threat of rain!! " Just call and we'll come and pick you up!!! Morning breakfast was fantastic, mostly Becky's doing I think! We could smell the aroma rising, first the coffee, then the bacon! It was wonderful experience to wake up too and certainly wished we had booked an extra night!! We are thinking.... Maybe September!!!!!
Great place to stay
We stayed for an evening last month - lovely home close to the theatre and downtown amenities. Loved the private balcony, nice place to have a coffee or sit out and read for a bit. Hosts were really lovely. Would definitely stay here again.
We will be back!
We had the lovely experience of spending three nights in the Queen Elizabeth I room and it was wonderful. I loved the balcony with the comfortable Adirondack chairs especially. The owners were great and have thought of everything you may need and the room and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfasts were very good and their was plenty of food. What made the stay especially wonderful were the little touches including the well stocked drinks fridge and coffee bar outside our room and the snacks provided... oh and the wonderful mint chocolates to eat at the end of breakfast. We parked our car and walked to both the Tom Patterson theatre (~ 15 minutes) and the Festival theatre (~25 minutes) as well as to downtown restaurants and shopping. It was so relaxing to not worry about finding parking. We love seeing theatre and will definitely be back to this wonderful B & B.
An Exceptional B & B
An exceptional B & B. Everything was absolutely perfect. Stu and Becky are very warm, welcoming and gracious hosts. The rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. We stayed in the Queen Victoria Room. The private balcony was an added bonus offering a serene retreat to relax and enjoy the view. Our breakfast of fresh fruit and Eggs Benedict was absolutely delicious. Thank you for making our stay in Stratford such a wonderful experience. Chris & Chris
Like home away from home- only better
The Dalls extended a warm welcome to their beautifully decorated, comfortable home making us feel like long time friends. The house is situated only a few blocks from downtown Stratford, and we were given tips for sites not to miss. Breakfast was delicious but the best part of our stay was laughing and talking with the Dalls - a lovely couple. It's no wonder their B & Bis solidly booked!!
A wonderful experience!
Absolutely fantastic! Becky and Stu are so welcoming and gracious, they made our very short stay a wonderful experience! Hatfield House is conveniently located just a stone throws away from downtown, which we took advantage of. We were the only guests that night, so we took a peek at all the rooms to check them out for future trips, and all are stunning! Whichever you choose, you'll be thrilled! Everything is designed for comfort and Victorian beauty! Breakfast was absolutely delicious, too!! All in all, a gem! This one is a keeper! :)
Wonderful Time
The hosts were lovely and very accommodating. First time for us in a B & B. I would definitely go back again. Beds were comfortable and the breakfast was delicious! The house is beautiful and in a good location.
Excellent stay
We stayed in the Crown room and it was fantastic. The room was elegant, clean, the bed was so comfy. The B & B was only a 7 minute walk to the downtown core. The owners are really friend and served a fantastic breakfast. Very helpful for suggestions and information about the area and the go to places for dinner and treats!!
Somewhere in time
We wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary in a special place and we got more than expected, beautiful and confortable Victorian house, superb breakfast and heart-warmed and amazing hosts Bec and Stu. We highly recommend this place.
June 19, 2020
This was our first time staying here and we would definitely recommend to our friends! Stu and Becky are lovely hosts, food was delicious- loved the baked " treat " we were welcomed with in our room😊. Incredibly beautiful neighbourhood with wonderful gardens- that just adds to the relaxing atmosphere. It was a great time to visit Stratford- very quiet in town.. stayed in the beautiful crown room- quiet and peaceful. Beautiful gardens! Thanks again
Winter get away
We spent 2 nights at this lovely B & B. This is a quiet time of year to visit Stratford but it was perfect for a quiet, restful get away. Becky and Stu are excellent hosts! Without being intrusive, it felt like we had known them forever. The room was delightful, bed very comfortable! Breakfasts were gourmet quality, raspberry crepes and eggs benedict. Highly recommend this wonderful place, you will be well taken care of!!
Cute, friendly, excellent food, and great (especially off-season) value
This was our 2nd time staying here. Rooms are comfortable and quiet. Stu and Becky are great hosts. Food was amazing and plentiful (again). Still lots to do in Stratford even in the off season. Ice storm made for a late departure, but they were very flexible and hospitable! Thanks for the apple cider and the loan of an ice scraper for the car!
Relaxing
Stayed one night in Queen Victoria room. Large, quiet room with balcony and private bathroom. Very nicely furnished and decorated. Wi-Fi, parking and lovely breakfast. Short walk from downtown and Shaw Theatre.
Wonderful
Becky and Stu are wonderful hosts. They are very friendly and accommodating and their breakfasts are delicious. The rooms are generous with luxurious furnishings and toiletries. The property is in a great location, only a short walk from the town. Highly recommended
What a lovely place
Stayed one night at Hartfield. Stu and Becky were so sweet and kind. We stayed in the Queen Ann room and it was i think the best one of the house. It's small and cozy. The sitting area was perfect. The bed was heavenly. The shower was small but very clean and it had all bathroom necessities. After spending the day at Strafford it was so nice to come back to the room. Breakfast next day was also delicious. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Wonderful experience
This is our first stay at a Bed and Breakfast and we liked the experience very much. Hatfield House has four rooms and is extremely quiet and impeccably clean. When we arrived, and before we even got out of the car, the owners, Stu and Becky, came out to greet us and take our luggage. As it was a special occasion for us we stayed in the Crown. This is a beautiful, spacious and well furnished room in the attic. The bed and breakfast is located on Hibernia, minutes away from downtown Stratford. It is within walking distance of good restarants and the Stratford theatres. At the hosts' suggestion we went to the AO Pasta for supper and, as they had promised, enjoyed it immensely. It is a highly regarded Italian restaurant with a small menu but excellent food. My wife had the spaghetti with meat balls and I had the special of the day, pasta with clams. Delicious, and we thank Stu and Becky for almost insisting, gently, that we try it for a 'memorable experience'. Breakfast was at 830 and it was an extravaganza. It started with a parfait, followed by the Hatfield raspberry crepes and ending with English scones with clotted cream and jam for dessert, all homemade. So if you are in Stratford for a play we strongly recommend giving Hatfield House a try. We loved it and think you will too. Nancy and Edwin
Lovely B & B
Becky and Stu took over recently and are doing a wonderful job of making guests feel at home in this house built in 1888. The rooms were beautifully decorated and clean with lots of extras like chocolates, books, a communal fridge with cold water and pop, tea / coffee and fresh baking. Breakfasts were 3 course with interesting presentation. It was a 12 min walk to the Avon theatre and many restaurants. It is on a quiet street with other beautiful old homes.
Meraviglioso
LOVELY B & B with GREAT NEW OWNERS
We found the Hatfield House was a DELIGHT. Great room, nice bed, comfortable home, amazing breakfast with variety. Becky and Stu were so kind to invite us into their home for a lovely state at their Bed and Breakfast. We look forward to returning to this LOVELY B & B with its new owners. We have stayed in hundreds of B & Bs and this home is very welcoming. Loved sitting on OUR porch.
Great New Owners
New owners who just took over are friendly and enthusiastic. Crown room is beautiful and clean, and great breakfast. Free parking and ten minute walk to downtown and theatres. Would definitely stay again next time we are in Stratford.
Outstanding B & B in beautifully restored heritage building
Visited this past week to see Rocky Horror and stayed here for one night - absolutely lovely 19th century building with carefully sourced and restored antiquities in each room, comfortable room with delicious home made cookies / coffee machine outside the door, and a wonderful breakfast served by the very friendly and helpful Christine (with a ride to the train station afterward from her husband which was very much appreciated). A very short walk - about 10-12 minutes from downtown restaurants, shops, and theatres. Hope to be able to make it back there next year!
Visit to Stratfors
This place is amazing. It is a ten minute walk to downtown Stratford yet on a quiet street. We stayed in the Victoria room. It is beautifully set up with a really nice bed and very quiet. Our hosts were there for all our questions and the breakfast was great.
Fabulous birthday weekend
We started her birthday weekend with a night in the Queen Victoria room and were extremely impressed with it's charm and comfort. All the comforts of home and even though it was a booked night all the privacy we wanted. Beautiful room, nice relaxing balcony. Breakfast was delicious! Thank you Christine for sharing your beautiful home, your hospitality, and your story. Sandra & Paul
Where old British charm meets modern day comforts
My husband and I stayed in the " Crown Room " located on the top floor, and we loved the quaint charm, private balcony and the bed was very comfortable. Our host was Christine who met us at the door, gave us a tour and tips of where to eat, shows and how to get around town. She was warm, and hospitable from the word go. The morning breakfast the next day was a wonderful yogurt parfait, with various fruits, a choice of sweet or savory as your main, coffee / tea, juice and a lovely scone. Christine made us feel like we were members of her family, while still being professional and top notch. We will hopefully be able to return again this summer. **Tip- Book directly through the Hatfield House, if you get the machine leave a message, they are good at calling back fairly quick. I say this because sites such as booking dot com and other online providers often take a cut of 18-20%, which is taken from the B & B's pocket. It helps keeps future prices reasonable when you book directly with the property, and you are also being kind to the owners by booking right with them.
What a wonderful way to experience Stratford; feeling very comfy at Christine's well-thought out B & B
Hatfield House on Hibernia--big front porch, lovely trees and close to Stratford plays. Christine provided wonderful breakfasts, a double room for me and my mother, and convivial company with other theater-goers.
Great Overnight Stay
This was our second stay at the Hatfield House on Hibernia. We stayed there last year and were so pleased we booked again this year. The rooms are all unique. They are clean, nicely decorated and have very nice amenities. There is a buffet in the hall outside all the rooms with a mini fridge, coffee maker, tea, cocoa, and fresh baked cookies for your enjoyment. There is a large sitting room where you can relax with friends after breakfast or before or after seeing a play. The breakfasts are fantastic and include fresh fruit and yogurt, juice, hot main course and delicious apple pastry with caramel sauce and of course very good coffee or tea. Can't say enough about the owner and her husband. They are very accommodating and friendly. Definitely check out Hatfield House on Hibernia. You won't be disappointed.
A wonderful stay!
We had a delightful stay at Hatfield House last week. Our room was lovely and included a very comfortable king size bed and a private balcony. The three-course breakfast was excellent! Christine was a charming and very helpful hostess. Couldn't be better!
Attention to Detail!
We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hatfield House for an overnight trip to see Guys and Dolls. The owner has put a lot of thought into the comfort of her guests and made our stay most enjoyable. Room was well appointed, very clean and had a jacuzzi tub and a balcony. There was a refreshment station waiting for us when we arrived with anything you could want including homemade cookies! The breakfast was decadent with three courses (we didn't eat again until supper!). Christine was very a pleasure to talk with as she served breakfast and you can tell how proud she is of her business / home. She should be!
Save room for the dessert at breakfast
We came to Stratford for the plays and found an added attraction! The accommodations were wonderful and a three course breakfast was enough for us to skip lunch. Christine was helpful in recommending places for dinner, where to park for the theaters, and other tidbits that only the locals know.
Feeling very comfy at Hatfield House on Hibernia
The room and porch were wonderful and Christine was a lovely hostess. She prepared delightful breakfasts and meeting other guests was really nice. We compared notes on the Stratford Festival and talked about our travels. Very convivial!
As good as it gets!
Truly one of the best B & B's we have ever stayed at. The rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable, so are the beds. Christine is the most gracious of hostesses. As for her breakfasts, three courses and skip lunch! Christine is also a great cook. Have stayed here three years in a row and will be going back.
Wonderful stay - highly recommend
My mom and I stayed in the Queen Ann room with two singles beds for her birthday weekend. Christine is wonderful host. Breakfast was top notch, the cookies and snack / coffee nook outside our room on the second level was fab. We enjoyed the robes and private balcony and truly felt spoiled here. Every details was carefully considered and food was delicious. We will visit again! Thank you :)
Stunning!
We have already booked our next stay at Hatfield House. It is truly an outstanding B & B. The rooms are spacious and perfectly appointed. The little balconies are truly idyllic on a summer morning. The breakfast would be a meal to die for, except then you couldn't have another breakfast there.. so stay alive and stay again. That's our plan.
Make your Stratford stay perfectly wonderful
Beautiful B & B that actually looks as amazing as the pictures on the website, The owners have covered every little detail you could want, and then some. Breakfast was deliciously overwhelming! I wouldn't stay anywhere else for future trips to Stratford.
I hear an echo!!!!
I have to echo all of the good things I've read here on Trip Advisor about Hatfield House. What an extra special treat to stay in such a wonderful B & B. We stayed for six nights and this wonderful hideaway became our home away from home. I can't say enough about Christine and Rick and of course Sarah and Lola. All were great hosts who gave us the " royal " treatment. I'm so glad that I booked this B & B.
Our best yet!
Having been to Stratford many times over the years we have stayed in many of the local B & B's. We visited Hatfield house for one night on a Thursday as we were seeing a play that evening. Right from the check-in we were impressed with the warm greeting and ease of the owner Christine. Our rooms were comfortable and decorated wonderfully. The beds were great and the amenities were very well thought out. The was a centrally located beverage area with coffee maker, kettle for hot tea and cold beverages including water, juice and soft drinks. There was also a plate of homemade cookies for our enjoyment. The rooms were clean and fresh with cute decorations and individual porches for sitting and enjoying a glass of wine. Breakfast was fantastic! Fresh fruit, yogurt with granola, juice, coffee, tea and a hot entree. We had the eggs Benedict and crab quiche. Simply delicious. Just when we thought we were done Christine brought out a sweet treat. An apple rose in puffed pastry with wonderful caramel sauce. It was great. We all agreed that the Hatfield House was hands down one of the best B & B's we have stayed at in Stratford. They are relatively new in Stratford but are certainly making a name for themselves. It will be our go-to spot when we return for more theater.
Amazing B & B
Our hosts were very welcoming and thoughtful. Our room was beautiful, comfortable, private and well stocked with toiletries, it also had a large bathroom and balcony. Our breakfast choices were amazing and delicious! It was a short walk to downtown Stratford, so we were able to come and go without having to take our vehicle. The Festival theatre was a 5 minute drive and had plenty of parking. This is a fabulous spot, I would highly recommend it.
faultless
Large Victorian house on a quiet tree lined street a short drive from downtown Stratford and the theatres. Plenty of parking on the wide driveway. Expansive gardens surround the enormous front porch where one can quietly watch the world go by while reading a book or festival playbill. I had wanted to book the Queen Victoria room for awhile and there was finally an opening. Patience pays off. Greeted warmly by Christine and William (Mr. Hatfield) I was given a quick tour downstairs and my luggage carried up to my lovely room at the back of the house that had sumptuous furnishings with a rich colour palette. I was then informed of the breakfast choices offered at 2 seatings. A sliding glass door leads to a private balcony with 2 Muskoka chairs where you might enjoy a glass of wine that you left to chill in the communal fridge which also has water and soft drinks available. There is a microwave and Orville's popcorn available for the kiddies and not so young to enjoy should they choose to watch television in their room. A large skylight allows even more light in but not directly in your eyes, no matter where you are in the suite. Lots of large old trees shade the room nicely and you cannot see any neighbours. Lovely bright bathroom (another skylight) with large walk in shower and plenty of towels, soap and other toiletries are supplied. Breakfast was elegantly served and I was later joined for great conversation by Christine and her beautiful daughter and (at my request) Lola the loving rescue dog. I particularly appreciated the fact that I was given a wee discount as I was a lone traveller... other b & b's please take note.
Each room has its own private balcony. Unforgetable hospitality and accommodations!
The wrap-around porch overlooking a blooming garden offers a feeling of welcome at first sight. Each room is well-appointed and has a feeling of warmth and comfort, and has its own private balcony. We enjoyed the Queen Elizabeth room with it's own spa tub for a week and felt right at home from the time we first arrived. Christine is a natural and caring hostess and a baker who had fresh muffins, breads or cookies, as well as hot and cold beverages available to us at all times. Each day the three-course breakfast in her lovely dining room was a delight and no-one should ever leave her table hungry. For anyone planning a trip to Stratford, The Hatfield House on Hibernia is definitely the place to stay.
