Location:The hostel is located in the center, very close to the famous and beautiful Tarifa beach, with its views to Africa, its white sand dunes, and turquoise waters, a true wonder… The hostel:We have completely renovated a typical Andalusian chalet, to make it as practical and comfortable for the traveler: a large fully fitted kitchen, computers for guest's use, WIFI throughout the place, nice terraces (and one of them overlooking the strait and Morocco), large living room, etc… We've got a place where you can keep your bags on check-out day. Breakfast and sheets are also included in the price. In addition, we also have free maps of the city, board games, and the best information and recommendations on Tarifa and its surroundings. Rooms:Our rooms are spacious, with 5, 6, or 8 beds. The beds are new and comfortable, and there are individual lockers for security. Cleanliness is an important issue for us. We have hair dryers and reading lights should you need these. Terrible with bedbugs
Got bitten the first night in. Rude receptionist and no breakfast although advert or air bnb stated clearly that it was a 'bed and breakfast' accomodation with breakfaat included. Noisy at night with other tenants sitting outside, shouting and smoking weed till 4am, refusing to move from distance of 1 metre from my window. I texted onwer who reacted to this well but then complained about me being intolerant! I do not recommend staying at this hostel and I have stayed at many before, throughout both Europe and South America. Below picture of my bite.
Buchung wurde nicht eingehalten
Ich habe mit einer Kollegin im Hostel geschlafen und auch gleich bei der Ankunft bezahlt. Die Inhaber 2 Marokkanische Brüder waren sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Bei der Zahlung erwähnte einer noch wir hätten mit Frühstück gebucht. Als wir dann am Morgen aufstanden war eine sehr schlecht gelaunte Deutsche dort, die erwähnte weil ihre Chefs Fehler gemacht hätten müsse sie jetzt aufstehen und für uns Pfannkuchen aus ihren Lebensmitteln kochen. Als ich nach Wasser fragte meinte sie genervt ich könne eins kaufen!!!! Ich selber habe eine Hotelfach Lehre absolviert und kann mit gutem Gewissen sagen - eine solche Person sollte man nicht an die Menschen lassen -wir und andere Gäste fühlten uns sichtlich unwohl! Am nächsten Tag gab es dann gar kein Frühstück obwohl wir es bezahlt haben! Wir mussten in die nächste Bar und zahlten 9 Euro pro Nase. Die hätte ich übrigens gerne zurück! Weiter hatte es keine Seife im Badezimmer was ich höchst unhygienisch fand. Schlafen konnte man innerhalb Nacht erst um 4:00h weil die Mädchengruppe bis dann ihre Gespräche hielt!!!
Worst hostel I've been so far
Eventhough the building from the exterior looks great, in the inside is an absolute mess. Every surface is sticky, the bathrooms are old and nothing works properly. There's not a place for everyone in the room to keep safe your stuff. In my case 6 people but only 4 lockers. The kitchen is big but dirty. The patio useless in my opinion only smokers stay there, there's a not comfy one table spot in which I didn't dare to sit with my dinner. I've paid for 2 nights and if Tarifa wasn't full today I wouldn't return.
Genial
El ambiente del hostel es muy bueno, estuve en una habitación para 6, la experiencia fue linda. Esta bien ubicado, entre la playa y el casco antiguo. Fuimos en auto y fue difícil estacionar, en la calle es gratis y en los que son privados cuesta 15€ el día.
Fantastic place
Nice staff, great location and comfy Roms ADD up to great value for Money. If i end up in Tarifa again i Will return here. Walking distance to the old town and easy drive to kitesurfing spots. All the staff were extremely friendly.
Cómo en casa!!!
Me sentí como en casa, el staff siempre dispuesto a brindarte información, la ubicación exelente para caminar tanto en la playa como en el centro, el desayuno está incluido y cuenta con una terraza con vista a Africa!

Lo super recomiendo! Un lugar increíble, la ubicación es buenísima, muy cerca de la playa y del centro. El personal es super amable, dispuestos a ayudarte en lo que necesites y están las 24hs abierto. :)
Super recomendable
Un lugar genial ! El personal muy amigable dispuestos a brindarte toda la info que necesites a cerca de tarifa y Marruecos. La ubicación del hostel es excelente ya que esta a 3 min de la playa y del centro. Me sentí como en casa y voy a volver !!
Chilled-out surf hostel
Nice, relaxed place. Spacious dorms with big, lockable drawers. (However, these can be accessed by lifting up the mattress and base board, as I noticed when they were cleaning one day.) Curtains on the beds. Real bathrooms rather than cubicles. Big kitchen. Friendly staff in general, who do a pretty good job seeing as they are mostly volunteers. It would be accessible to a disabled person. There is a lovely, though battered-looking, cat. It's centrally located, although not in the old town like some hostels are. It's a casual place, so not for you if you are very worried about security. They eject people from the common room at midnight even though it is not next to a bedroom: it is a weirdly uptight (and annoying) characteristic for a place of this style. The owner kept rudely referring to me by my surname, even though I explained that I go by my initials (which is not exactly unheard of for an English speaker to do). Although the volunteers did a good job, they weren't at the reception desk a lot and they regularly changed, so I didn't really know whom to ask for help. The common room needs more seating. The Wi-Fi was really unreliable. I met some nice people there, so overall I'd recommend it.
Comfortable stay - close to ferry port!
My traveling buddy and I stayed one night at the Melting Pot hostel. We had a private room - one bed and small balcony that looked toward the water! Our stay was comfortable - only one night - but the highlights were the upstairs terrace (hammacks were strong and super comfortable!) and the recommendation to go to Mesón Picoteo for tapas. Hands down some of the best tapas I've ever had!! One negative was TWO toilets that are located inside two (out of three) showers. It's a hostel that sleeps probably up to 20-30 people and only two toilets. Good, comfortable stay - close the ferry, hammacks involved - happy to recommend to other travelers for a short stay!
Loved this place
Perfect location close to the beach, great facilities, helpful and friendly staff. I spent just one night there but everything seemed fine for a longer stay. The wifi was stable and I had no problems with browsing. They have hammocks on the rooftop terrace and the view from there is awesome.

El colchón debía de estar plagado de chinches, tengo todo el cuerpo lleno de picaduras, he tenido que ir al servicio médico de urgencias y han alucinado!!!! evidentemente he denunciado el caso en Sanidad. Una experiencia horrible.
Viernes en pareja Tarifa
Reserve la habitación doble para pasar una noche con mi pareja. Es una casa muuuuyyy vieja nada reformada, simplemente convertida en un hostel. Una mano de pintura y andando... el colchón súper blando, me hundía y llevaba al centro de la cama. Olor a casa vieja y baños con griferías y demás oxidados en estado regular. El personal muy amable e intentan darle su rollito al hostal pero necesita mejorar muchos las instalaciones, reformar los baños y colchones nuevos
Mucho cuidado Chiches!!!
Parecía un buen lugar, un poco caro para lo que es... pero lo peor fue cuando mi compañera amaneció con el cuerpo cubierto por picaduras sospechosas, y a mi empezaron a manifestarse durante las horas posteriores a levantarme... cuidado si vais a este hostel.
Bad experience
The hostel is awesome, good customer service, big kitchen, good spot, but... When we went it had bedbugs in my bed. I'm 100% because i've been bit by bedbugs because it happened to me before. At least they had the decency to give me my money back but still... Be careful if your are sensible to it and you are planning to go.
Muy sucio y cucarachas en la habitación
Llegamos por la noche al hostel de cenar en tarifa y nos encontramos en el suelo cinco cucarachas. Revisamos las ventanas y tenían rejilla luego entraban por otro lado. Le pedimos al recepcionista una solución pero el hostel estaba lleno. Dijo que iba a buscar al dueño y los 30 minutos nos encontramos a esta persona durmiendo en el patio del hostel. Posteriormente nos insulto y volvió a sentarse en la terraza del hostel. Pasadas 2 horas se presento el dueño y pusimos una hoja de reclamación donde vimos que había mas por este tema y en una de ellas ponia que se les habia caido una garrapata del techo ademas de estar lleno de cucarachas. No nos dieron solucion alguna y nos vimos a las 5 am en la calle y sin sitio donde ir. Desde luego que un sitio con cucarachas con alas no nos ibamos a quedar y menos con garrapatas. Para nada recomendamos este hostel.
Cucarachas y mal trato del personal
Cuando volvimos al hostel por la noche encontramos varias cucarachas que entraban por el baño. El personal no sólo no nos dio ninguna solución, además nos insultó y fueron muy desagradables. Tuvimos que dormir en el coche ya que no había nada más por Tarifa.

Great place to stay. The owners Bilal and Otman are very friendly and helpful. The location is great right by the best beach and minutes from the old town where everyone goes at night. The kitchen and bathrooms are really clean and there are listo of areas to hang out. The staff were really nice and the vibe is really good. Thank to everyone there for a really good trip.
Ambiente molto easy
Ostello centrale a pochi passi dall'Oceano. Camera e bagno spaziosi e puliti. Colazione normale ma soprattutto ambiente molto easy. Come lo è la cittadina. Piccola ma sportiva. Tanti negozi di surf e mare mare mare. Un po' di rumore fino a tarda serata, ma lo consiglio per un viaggio a Tarifa
Tolle Atmosphäre im Hostel Nähe Strand :)
Ein tolles Hostel zum Wohlfühlen (auch für Nicht-Surfer :)) ! Das Personal und die Leute dort waren super nett und hilfsbereit. Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und bekamen gute Tipps für unseren kurzen Aufenthalt. Auch die Stimmung unter den Hostelgästen war sehr herzlich, offen und man kam schnell ins Gespräch, sei es im Empfangsbereich oder in der Küche! Ein weiteres Plus ist die gut ausgestattete Küche, in der man selbst tagsüber / abends kochen kann! Abends kann man sich sehr gut an der Hostelbar oder auf der Dachterrasse aufhalten! Der Strand ist nur wenige Gehminuten vom Hostel entfernt und auch die " Altstadt " kann man schnell zu Fuß erreichen. Für einen längeren Aufenthalt würde ich allerdings kein Mehrbettzimmer empfehlen. Alles in allem ein sehr kurzer, aber schöner Aufenthalt.
Great place !
I was just passing through to discover the beaches of the area and I have to say this is the perfect place for that. It is only 2 minutes away from the beach. There is a nice free breakfast and a nice family vibe in the hostel. It is also close to the old town with lots of bars. I ended up extending my stay.
Like a crossroad
The melting pot: perfect place to meet backpackers and people from all over the world. The hostel is functional the kitchen is big and the breakfast included. I was alone in tarifa, I had an amazing time in this place. Always had some one new to talk with and share experiences. The other customers are usually Kite surfers and people stopping by on the way to marocco. Good terrace, nice people, staff is really friendly and easygoing, from many point of view. You have to come to the melting pot. The only negative thing I could say is about the beds which are woden, old and noisy but is definitely something you might survive :) ah and they don't give locks, so bring your own.

Reservé habitación doble (con dos camas) con baño compartido. Era una habitación en forma de L con una ventanuca de 50cm estilo zulo pequeña y sucia. Ropa de Cama Sucia. Lo mejor el buen ambiente del hostal y el salón con chimenea y que está en el centro de Tarifa
Una buena experiencia
Es un buen hostel, bien situado, limpio y con personal amable. Me he alojado dos veces en diciembre y enero.. Tiene una buena chimenea que hace mas agradable la estancia, la gente que acude allí es respetuosa y simpatica. Yo si lo recomiendo a quien le gusten los hosteles.
Best hostel
It's one of the best hostels I ever stayed, it feels like home. Staff is friendly and helpfull. It's good place for meeting other travellers. Location is very good, close to city center and close to beach. Beds in dorms are really big and comfortable.
Lovely hostel for surfers
We had a really good time! Woke up with someone playing guitar. It felt like a little home. The most people where surfers and everyone was relaxed. We had a lovely time in Tarifa and the Melting Pot. The choiche in breakfast was limited.
Hier sind coole Leute richtig und fühlen sich wohl
Ein cooles Hostel, in dem sich coole Leute richtig wohl fühlen. In der Gemeinschaftsküche und in den Chill-Bereichen mit Hängematten trifft man immer auf tolle und interessante Leute. Zum Frühstück stehen Eier, 2 Marmeladen, Butter, Toastbrot, Kaffee, Tee, Milch und Kakao zur Verfügung. Restliche Köstlichkeiten stellt jeder von sich aus auf den Gemeinschaftstisch. Das Hostel ist super gelegen, mitten im Centrum und 2 Min. zum Strand. Vielen Dank für den lieben Empfang, es war echt toll bei Euch!!!
Well priced, clean accomodation
Really loved this place. Was the first time I had stayed in this type of hostel. We had a private room rather than shared dorms. Was all very clean, the staff were super friendly and helpful. The outside areas are beautiful and breakfast was included which was an extra bonus. Will definitely go again.
First time staying at a Hostel
When I arrived. I was greeted with a warm and friendly smile. First time ever staying in. Hostel. Loved the experience sharing a room with random people. I would most def recommend hostel. Reasonable price. Waking distance to everything.
Hostel for Backpackers
So I made an error. I booked this hostel based on the overall rating on Tripadvisor rather than taking the time out to actually read the reviews. On arriving home, I wondered why this place is rated so highly when in reality it is so poor. It seems the reason is that the majority of reviews have been submitted by backpackers who have had a cool time in Tarifa (which is a cool place) and were happy with hanging out in a hip dosshouse drinking cheap lager and socialising with the staff. If you are 22 and want the young / free experience then sure, the melting pot is ok. If you are older, and looking for a degree of comfort / cleanliness and relaxation then it certainly isn't. The place is run down, grubby and uninviting. We were glad to leave after one pretty grim evening. It was my fault, not the hostel.... But if you are over 30, do not book this place. You will wish you didn't
Ottimo ostello dal clima familiare
Abbiamo soggiornato in questo ostello 2 notti. L'ostello è situato a meno di 5 minuti a piedi dal centro storico di Tarifa e dal mare / oceano. La struttura è molto curata e le camerate sono luminose e pulite. I letti sono dotati di tendina e cassone / armadio personale per questo è utile avere un lucchetto. La cucina è ampia e le varie zone comuni sono arredate con gusto. Dalla terrazza dove sono presenti sdraio ed amache si vede l'oceano e l'Africa. Personale gentile e disponibile. L'ostello è frequentato per lo più da giovani. Si riposa bene in quanto la via dell'ostello rimane molto tranquilla. Consigliatissimo!
El peor alojamiento de mi vida
Relación calidad precio para nada compensada. Nos alojamos en una habitación doble con una ventana enana que daba directamente a las escaleras de la terraza. Desde la que cualquiera puede verte en la habitación, es decir, cero privacidad. La primera sorpresa, una mancha sospechosa en las sábanas. Nos llegamos a plantear hasta dormir en el coche (por falta de otro alojamiento en Tarifa, que estaba todo completo). Solo un servicio para la planta de arriba, para unas 20 personas. A pesar de ello, el baño si estaba limpio. La ducha si da un poco de grima, se encharca todo. No entran las toallas, pero vamos después de haber visto aquello, tampoco hubiésemos hecho uso de ellas. Como punto bueno, bien situado. A 3 min del centro andando. Creo que merece la pena pagar 10€ más la noche y alojarte en un sitio más acogedor.
Atmosfera unica!
Ostello assolutamente da provare se si passa da Tarifa! Il personale è molto giovane e cordiale, l'ambiente è tranquillo e la grande terrazza comune regala momenti unici, in cui conoscere altri viaggiatori o rilassarsi bevendo una cerveza. L'ostello è in una posizione ottima sia per raggiungere il centro che la spiaggia e il porto, tutti a circa 10 minuti di strada a piedi. Gli ambienti comuni e le camere sono puliti e ordinati e provvisti di tutto il necessario.
Nice hostel
What I liked about the shared rooms in this hostel is that each bed had a compartment to fit in your suitcase and to lock it if so desired. It is not too far from the city center - still within walking distance. I would probably go there again if I would visit Tarifa again.
Sauber, tolles Personal
Nicht das modernste Hostel, dafür super sauber, Küche in einwandfreien Zustand, das Personal ist super und hilft einem in Sachen Aktivitäten weiter. Die Dachterasse hat großes Potenzial, bietet derzeit aber nur ein paar Liegen an. Da aber kein Schatten auf der Terasse ist, ist sie fast den ganzen Tag ungenutzt. Es kann jedoch sein, dass sich das ändert, da an meinem Abreisetag dort oben gehandwerkelt wurde.

" Кипящий горшок " - отличный хостел в нескольких минутах от побережья, в котором с комфортом сможет разместиться компания друзей, приехавших сюда за всеми видами серфинга или на летний музыкальный фестиваль. Но подойдет этот хостел также и тем, кто заехал в Тарифу посмотреть на океан и переночевать. Удобное расположение, строго посредине между берегом Гибралтара и центром города (по 5 минут в каждую сторону) делает остановку в нем отличным выбором, который дополняет удобная парковка (бесплатная парковка на всей улице у хостела + площадка на несколько машин прямо около здания, где расположен хостел). Может быть немного шумно, поскольку постояльцы могут общаться, играть вечером на гитаре. Не для интровертов. Из гамака на террасе, расположенной на крыше хостела, видно Гибралтар и Африку.

Beautiful hostel in Tarifa.. fantastic mood and people. The hostel is out of the walls but very close to the centre. Nice common area and kitchen with free breakfast every morning. I suggest tarifa and I suggest this hostel
Horrible, cucarachas y olores!
Doy un punto por dar algo. En primer lugar existe una ausencia destacable de limpieza que provoca la aparición de varias cucarachas, tanto por el suelo como por la pared. Además, la solución que nos proporcionaba el hostel era que no abriéramos la ventana que daba a un patio mal cuidado del hostel, esto lo que causaba eran olores muy fuertes y una gran humedad en la habitación, aparte de que la habitación era como un zulo sin ventilación. Por otro lado existía una falta de higiene en los baños, había un olor permanente durante toda la estancia. Encima hay que pagar por las toallas de baño. Es un hostel muy apagado y con mobiliario y utensilios de cocina muy anticuados. No hay WIFI.
Super easy
Ostello molto carino. In ottima posizione a 300mt dalla spiaggia e vicino al centro. Alloggiato in camera matrimoniale, spartana ma pulita. Bagno in comune pulito. Ottima terrazza con amiche e sdraio. Colazione nulla di eccezionale (latte caffe marmellata burro e pane). Personale stra gentile e disponibile. Consigliato vivamente. Buonissimo rapporto qualità prezzo.
Una gran experiencia
Buen sitio para alojarse y sobre todo para disfrutar, porque la gente que viaja allí es muy enrollada y divertida. El albergue dispone de una nevera con cerveza y otras bebidas a muy buenos precios, mis amigos y yo nos bebimos prácticamente toda la cerveza.

Like the Meltin Pot in Tangier, this place is amazing: very friendly staff, really great vibe, nice traditional house, perfect location close to the beach... My friends and I had so much fun. Thank you guys!
ONE OF THE BEST HOSTELS in ANDALUCIA
My stay was astounding. By far one of the BEST hostels in SPAIN! If you stay at MELTING POT TARIFA--expect 5-star treatment, great facilities, CAFE / BAR on-site with FREE BREAKFAST, pub crawls, activities every night with awesome staff. Hostel has a common area with fireplace / BIG kitchen / terrace on level 3, a free computer in the lobby common area, public restrooms in all common areas. Rooms have nice, comfy beds with the basics for your stay, with ENSUITE bathroom facilities in some rooms. There are also shared bathroom facilities on some floors. Hostel conveniently located in heart of TARIFA tourist area with shopping, sites within in walking distance. THE MELTING POT crew are very professional staff, provide guests with very good hospitality. You won't be disappointed if you book a room or bed at MELTING POT TARIFA. Give them a try, See how you can experience TARIFA in a truly unforgettable time!
pulito e in un ottima posizione
Ottimo ostello, pulito e confortevole, uno dei migliori in cui ho alloggiato. Dispone di una terrazza e di alcune aree esterne. In bassa stagione il costo a notte è tra i più bassi che potete trovare e nel prezzo è compresa la colazione. posizione centrale, a due passi dal centro storico e dalla spiaggia. Personale gentile e amichevole. Se dovessi tornare a Tarifa soggiornerei di nuovo qui.
Decent Hostel close to the beach
We stayed here for one night. It was an " okay " experience overall. The hostel is clean but the rooms were very small. The wifi did not work which was bit of an issue for us. The hostel is less than 5 mins away from the beach, which is really convenient.
Great hostel with good vibe, friendly staff and attention to detail
I have just been back from one week in Tarifa at Meltin Pot. This is definitely one of the best, if not the best hostel I have stayed at. The staff is super attentive, and friendly, Otman (sorry if it is mispelled) made my friends and myself feel very welcomed, took us out to town to a nice restaurant - we had a great time together - and answered all questions we might have... all the other staff as well. It is a hostel that feels like home, in a great location just one minute walk from the old town centre, with a functioning fireplace, a living room and a well equipped kitchen. there are small things which make your like in a shared dorm easier, such as huge locked bed drawers that can fit a big luggage inside, plugs above every bed, curtains for every bed, and a nice breakfast with eggs included! if going for a dorm, I advise the 6-bedroom one with private bathroom, the bathroom really felt like the one in my flat! Generally the hostel is always clean which I have found is not the case in many other hostels I have been to. I definitely recommend!!!
Rude personnel
Overall bad experience with the rude receptionist, rather shooting than speaking. Bath is lacking basic privacy, which is not normal even for third world country. Definitely not going there again nor recommending it to anybody.
Vergonzoso
Por el precio 30€, no esperamos gran cosa pero lo que nos encontramos fue ya increíble. Un cuarto, que no era habitación, sino un zulo con paredes improvisadas de pladur con litera. Baño compartido y las toallas había que pagarlas aparte. Las camas sin hacer con la ropa encima y sin planchar para que tu mismo las hagas y un frío inhumano. Por el mismo precio, nos quedamos la noche siguiente en otro hotel del Puerto e Santa María y nada que ver. Una vergüenza.
Good Hostel
The rooms were clean, smaller than the one I chose but no complaints. Plenty of bathrooms and the terrace area was really nice with hammocks! Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast wasn't great but it was free, not a lot of options. Worth the price.
Ottimo ostello a due passi dal porto
Sono arrivato di sera dal Marocco e l'ostello si trova a 5 minuti dal porto, ottimo dopo un viaggio così. I ragazzi in reception sono simpatici e disponibili e l'ostello è davvero carino. I letti sono ampi e spaziosi, la terrazza è stupenda e il salotto altrettanto.
Very nice and warm place to stay in Tarifa!
We had a private double room with shared bathroom. Everything was clean and nice, the location is perfect both for the beach and for the old town. Lovely atmosphere and great breakfast included! Definitely recommended

il tarifa meltin pot è veramente il migliore ostello dove siamo stati in Andalusia. non avrei niente da ridire! la location è carina, l'ostello è tenuto bene, pulito, il personale non è solo disponibile... di piùùù! c'è una bella terrazza e un bel giardino esterno, ma anche dei divanoni dove stare a chiacchierare con gli altri viaggiatori... vicino alla spiaggia e vicino al centro storico.. prezzi onestissimi.... consigliatissimo, non ve ne pentirete!
Personnel de bons conseils et chambre convenable
Hotel bien situé près de la plage et du centre ville. Le personnel est accueillant et connaît les bonnes adresses pour manger et boire un verre à petits prix. Il y a une belle terrasse avec vue sur les côtes marocaines.
Terrible place
Rude staff, terrible rooms.. Do not stay here! Very unhelpful staff over email meant i had trouble finding the place and they weren't clear about rooms. No atmosphere either... There's much cheaper and better value hostels nearby, just book one of those on the night
100% Recommend
This hostel is really nice. The staff are so friendly and nice and always ready to help. They even invited me to go partying with them after their shift. I stayed in a double bedroom, it was just perfect and I had my privacy. If anything the breakfast that was included was really bad. Only bread, butter and two types of jam, nothing else. But other than that I 100% recommend!

Nos hemos alojado en el hostel en la habitación doble, creo que la única de la casa. La habitación es muy sencilla con una cama y una mesita, baño compartido con el resto de huéspedes que están en habitaciones con literas. Todo lo hemos encontrado bastante limpio, aunque sigue siendo un hostel. Precio bastante caro para lo que es, aunque estar en Tarifa y en esta época del año siempre es muy caro. El precio no incluye toallas de baño y las sabanas son muy muy finas que dejan ver todo el colchón. Incluye desayuno y esta al lado del centro. El personal es muy agradable y atento.
Great staff, terrible beds!
Had a good experience at this hostel mostly because the staff were incredibly helpful! Staff gets 5 star though the hostel itself is average. Pros: - Staff as mentioned - location is close to the beach, centre town and ferry (small town so not difficult). - Nice kitchen - Rooftop terrace - Clean - Extra blankets on the bed Cons: - Terribly uncomfortable beds. It may have been better to take my blankets and sleep on the floor. - wifi barely worked at all the entire 3 days we were there. - Only 2 toilets which could be inconvenient.

タンジェ行きの船に乗る前日に一泊しました。場所は港や市街地に近く、バスターミナルからも歩いて10分くらいで便利です。玄関に置いてある黒板には日本の旅館みたいに当日チェックインするゲストの名前が書いてあったりして、いい感じなんですが… 問題はゲストの質がとても悪かったこと… 夜12時過ぎてもいつまでも玄関の周りで騒いでるし、ベッドルームのカギどころかドアも常に開けっ放し、韓国人の男はドミなのに朝7時に大きな音でアラーム、しかも本人は起きない…。他にも冷蔵庫に入れていた缶ビールはなくなるし、料金に含まれている朝食の食材はちゃんと用意されているものの、数人のゲストが長時間キッチンを占領していて調理場所が空かないため食べられない…などなど。 これらはたまたまかも知れません。でも他のホステルにも泊まりましたがこんなことは全然なかったし、また多くのホステルではこういうふうにならないようにスタッフの方が気を付けていると思いますので、やはりホステルの管理にも問題があるような気がします。 ちなみにタンジェの町はとてもいい感じでした〜
Quirky Hostel with character and great staff
Finding the hostel was quite easy a straight walk pretty much from the bus station. Walking into the gate of the hostel a board that read " bienvenido...... " with the guests names that were checking in that day, such a lovely touch! We immediately felt welcome. We arrived much before check in time, around midday but were able to get straight in the room! The receptionist was friendly and helpful, he told us a great tapas place to go, which really was lovely (Lolas). The bunks were comfy, and we had little blankets to sleep under as well as a sheet (bonus!) there was a clothes rail and shelves for clothes, relatively spacious for a hostel dorm! Felt very safe in our two bed room. AND it was clean. It seemed like an incredibly friendly and sociable hostal, had we stayed more than one night I'm sure we would've made a couple of hostel buddies! We sunbathed on the rooftop terrace, which was brilliant, views over to Africa!! Considering you would normally pay a premium, this hostel was proving you get more than you would at a normal hostel. The only downside was when my sister and I came to walk home that night from dinner, the hostel is just outside the main hubbub which I'm sure is a bonus for sleep quality but not for two girls walking themselves back to their room. As the hostel is down a road that leads to some questionable flats.... Overall a faultless stay! The free breakfast was very lovely!! And wifi connection was perfect!
tolles Hostel!
Wir waren zwar nur für eine Nacht in diesem Hostel, dennoch hat es uns hier sehr gefallen. Wir wurden herzlich empfangen, das Personal ist sehr freundlich und gibt sich viel Mühe. Ausserdem gibt es viele Informationen zu Ausflügen und dem Leben im Ort. Die Zimmer (4 Schlafplätze resp. 2 Hochbetten) waren sauber und gemütlich eingerichtet. Für eine Jugendherberge auch erstaunlich geräumig. Frühstück mit Brot / Toast und Marmelade war inklusive. Das Hostel ist gut gelegen und einfach zu finden. Das Ortszentrum sowie den Strand erreicht man schnell. Ich kann dieses Hostel nur empfehlen!
a welcoming place
ahh, I so much enjoyed this fantastic, quiet, clean and friendly place! Tarifa was a welcoming surprise and a lovely place after the buzz of Malaga. I enjoyed strolling the friendly little town. the hostel lends out bycicles and it is an amazing and relaxing ride out to the sanddunes of valdevaqueros. Dive centres are 2 just on the harbour, thats about 5 minutes from the hostel. The hostel has a 2 storey terrace that looks out to the ocean. no smoking in the hostel, fully equipped big kitchen for the guests, free internet, cosy lounge, a cat to cuddle and friendly staff... what more would one ask for?
Average hostel
We had a 5 bed dorm, which was spacious and clean, but a little bit cold at night despite the 2 blankets. Only 2 showers and one toilet is not really enough, so there's often a line, especially during the mornings. Otherwise the common area was quite cozy and the kitchen was spacious. Simple breakfast, but everyone happened to be there at the same time, so we grabbed a little something that was left and decided to have breakfast elsewhere. There's a cat at the hostel, which is fine, except if you're allergic and do not know about it beforehand.... Anyway the location is good, it's close to the old town and to the beach. Staff was helpful and the blackboard outside, welcoming the coming new guests, was a really nice thing!
Rude staff and bad vibe
I recently stayed 2 nights here. On arriving the place is in a great location it seemed nice and clean. On settling in I found the staff not too friendly. It seemed to be the guys running the place were only interested in being friendly to the females. It was hard for me or any other fellow I talked to staying there to get a hola coming in the door. But any girls were given the royal treatment. The shower heads arnt attached to stop you having too long a shower which is really annoying. Everywhere I looked there seemed to be another rule on the wall not to do something and it had the vibe that you were always walking on thin ice. Sweeping around your feet every half hour and in general not being made to feel too welcome. Some not so great stories of 1 fellow staff with his guitar trying his luck with some girls. My worst hostel Travelling portugal and Spain for sure. I changed hostels to Pension Facundo and found facilities much better, staff friendlier and also cheaper!
My favourite hostel!
I have seen some hostels, but this one is definitely my favourite!!! Full of really friendly, open and talkative travellers- which creates an awesome atmosphere!! Additionally the rooms are nice and clean and the roof-top view is just astonishing! And the staff was the nicest I ever met!!! I can really recommend the hostel to other young travellers!!
no heating in december, but the rest was okay
so i stayed there in december and there was no heating! so i had to use 5 blankets to be able to sleep... also poor lighning in the bathroom, but the staff was nice though ;) breakfast included and that was not so bad (well toast and tea, but better than nothing ;))
Great Vibes, almost there
Clean, friendly, and cool house-like environment. The kitchen was very well stocked and the location was great, both near the beach and the center of Tarifa, where there are plenty of restaurants. A couple small things to note: The wifi did not work very well. Also, there are only a couple bathrooms for the whole hostel, so at times (like in the morning) I had to wait for a bit. Also, there are no lockers for bags in the old rooms, although it sounds like the hostel is being renovated and that will change. Towel costs 2 Euros. Overall, good experience with friendly staff, cool travelers, and a perfect location!

The location is really cool, close to the beach and the city centre. The staff is nice and always ready to help you. I want everybody goes there. I'll be back ASAP. I LOVED that place... Thank you guys :)
Comfortable place, excellent location, friendly staff
We stayed at Melting Pot, Tarifa for 2 nights and it was great choice. The hostel is located near the town centre, 5 mins to the coast. Comfortable and clean rooms, spacious living room and kitchen, breakfast, lockers, internet access - that's what you get for really reasonable price.
Bien tranquillo with a (partial) view of Africa
Spent 2 nights in this hostel whilst visiting Tarifa. I booked online with hostelworld, something I wouldn't normally do as I'm totally against the idea of paying to make a reservation. But as it's the only real hostel in town and it was the weekend I thought I'd better do so. Also I think 20 Euros is a lot for a dorm bed but I guess that's the result of the monopoly they have. Upon arrival I saw my name written on a board outside welcoming me which was a nice touch. The girl on reception who greeted me was friendly and welcoming as were almost all the other staff I met. All apart from an older man who I assume was the owner. The dorm on the ground floor was a little cramped with 6 beds but ok. There were individual lockers and an en suite bathroom. The rest of the hostel was agreeable with a nice lounge, kitchen (bread and spreads breakfast included in the price) and a small terrace upstairs with a partial view of Morocco across the water. Th wi fi connection was pretty good throughout. On a security note there was often nobody at the front desk and anyone could have walked in off the street. This combined with the fact that often people did not lock the dorm could be a concern. The hostel location is good, just outside the old town, between it and the beach. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. One evening around 00.30 I wanted to sit quietly and read a book but found that the upstairs terrace was locked, I went to sit in the lounge only to be told by the owner that that was off limits too after midnight. So bear in mind that if you want to stay up late you have to go out. But I suppose this prevents the drunken party which has kept me awake late into the night in many other hostels. Overall I would recommend this hostel. It was refeshingly laid back after the more commercial and regulated hostels further north. A further word of warning: I did a day trip to Tangier organised though a local travel agency. Whilst I don't regret it as I got to see a glimpse of North Africa I was a bit disappointed. The tour is very much geared towards leading you around shops where you will be pressued to buy carpets, spices etc. I had read about a beautiful palace located within the Medina but we did not see it and our guide stated it wasn't worth seeing, I later google imaged it and would indeed have liked to have visited it rather than the shops I was taken to. We also did a camel 'ride' (in a small circle in a car park) and had lunch in a restaurant with live music, belly dancing and good food. Just so you know what you can expect.
Great place in Tarifa!
This place has everything I look for in a hostel. Friendly and helpfull staff, Clean rooms and bathrooms, free internet connection, kitchen facilities, good price and great location. The place is a little hard to find at first but it's a 5 minute walk from the beach and the 'city' centre. I only stayed for 1 night on my way to Morocco and it was perfect for that because the port is just around the corner! If i'm heading down to Tarifa again I'll definately stay here again

J'ai été pour deux nuit au Melting pot Tarifa et ça a franchement été génial. L'établissement est vraiment propre et le personnel prend soin de nous. une cuisine est mise à notre disposition et le petit déjeuner du matin est compris. De plus l'auberge est vraiment à deux pas des plus importants endroits de Tarifa. A moins de deux minutes, on se trouve dans une rue pleine de bars. En gros c'est le meilleur endroit ou rester en vacance lorsqu'on est entre potes. De plus, grace aux parties communes (salon, cuisine, terrasse), on fait la connaissance de pleins de personnes et le WIFI est disponible. Je retournerais sans hésiter au MELTING POT la prochaine fois !
Great place to stay
I liked the stay in Melting Pot very much, very clean rooms though you sleep with seven other travellers. Great location not far from the beach and city centre. You can cook by your own at any time as the kitchen is at the guests' disposal. Decent bathrooms, nice living room where you can meet a lot of interesting people being a passionate travellers.
No regresaría
Al leer las críticas sobre este hotel, realmente pensé que sería mucho mejor de lo encontrado. La atención es muy buena pero los baños están descuidados y las habitaciones no son más que literas sin la más mínima decoración ni gusto. El desayuno es sumamente pobre y casi no hay espacio para todos los huéspedes, de manera que hay que buscarse un espacio donde sea posible en la casa. Se nota también la humedad en el edificio. Nuestra habitación nada más que tenía una pequeñísima ventana muy alta. Parecía una cárcel.

Ostello si trova in una buona posizione, 2 minuti dalla spiaggia e dal centro, 15 circa dalla stazione autobus. Camere pulite, spazi comuni ampi, 2 terrazze spaziose, colazione inclusa. Staff gentile e disponibile, pronto alla battuta, presenza del guardiano notturno. Si ha la possibilità di incontrare molta gente di diverse nazionalità. Insomma esperienza nell'ostello molto positiva!
Great hostel
We stayed in the double private room which was great. We really enjoyed our stay here. The hostel was clean, the staff were welcoming and friendly also the location is great. Guests can hire bikes, it has good wifi and we borrowed some parasols for the beach. It's a lovely place to stay!
Great Atmosphere, Friendly Staff
I really loved my stay here, and ended up staying a few extra days. There's a great kitchen, plenty of bathrooms, and a really nice communal area with sofas and a fireplace. It's in a great location, close to the beach and tons of great restaurants, and the place just has a great vibe. I met a lot of really cool backpackers here, and only wish I had more time to spend at this great hostel.
It was ok but not very welcoming
We just read and heared good things about it, and to be honest we stayed in a fantastic hostel just before. So it was maybe not that easy to step up to our expactacions. And it didn't meet our expactacions. The staff was a bit weird and the vibe as well. We didnt really felt welcome and comfy. Nevertheless it was all pretty clean and up to standard.
Average!
Located 2 minutes away from the ferry / long beach and a 10 minute walk away from the bus station. When we arrived, we weren't too pleased with the slow service and by our extremely small double room with only one pillow. After questioning downgrading to the dorms, we realized that we had payed only 0.50 euros more that those staying in 6-person dorms, so we decided to stay in the double room. The Internet connection was terrible and it was very noisy as they were doing renovations around the hostel. Breakfast is included, but don't expect more than coffee, bread and jam. Besides our not-so-good first impression, the staff were very accommodating when my sister got sick... They checked up on her very often and offered many times to take her to the nearest clinic. At the hostel, we were able to buy our ticket for the fast-ferry, and could've booked windsurfing camps had we been interested (a little pricy!!).
I had no problems and would come back again
Having booked a trip last minute to Tarifa, the melting pot seemed like an ideal place to stay having seen the photos of the building and the location. The booking process was quick and easy and the directions from the main bus station were plain and simple. It is not a hotel it is a hostel so with this in mind the rooms were fine for a night or two. I was welcomed by the staff who took an interest in what I was up to. They helped with my onward plans and told me about places to eat in the town which would not be full of tourists. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were in a good condition. It is quite a small 'cosy' hostel and as has been mentioned, there are limited shower facilities. I, however did not have to queue for the shower, I didnt have to share it and it produced hot running water, pretty much what a shower should do, I suggest. It is not the cheapest of hostels but seemed to be friendly, clean and reliable and would happily use it again. I stayed in the dorm room so can not comment on the private bedrooms but the fun of a hostel is the dorm I guess, I would use a hotel if I needed a private room.
Cozy place, 2 mins from the old town, great service!
Great service, especially all the good tips from Nadine on what to do on no-wind (thus no kitesurfing) days. Clean place. Nice living room with bar and fireplace! Very close to the old town and the beach.
A friendly, comfy place with a good location
As a group of 17 people, the melting pot did everything they could to accomodate us all and we had a brilliant stay. The staff are all really friendly and chatty, and the hostel has a very homely feel. We had both 8 bed and 5 bed dorms with and without bathrooms - they were a good size and perfectly comfy. The shower was good too, although there should maybe be more shared bathrooms. Help-yourself breakfast was included, which suited us well, and theres a nice living room area with a bar to chill out in. The hostel has a great location, really close to both the old town and the beach, so nothing is far away. I'd definitely recommend it.
Nothing But The Best Hospitality
After spending two nights at their sister location in Malaga, Spain, on a whim I decided to make my way to Tarifa and stay at the Melting Pot there. The vibe is very relaxed with free internet, a lounge, and an outdoor patio open to all guest. The people who work here are truly what make this place and their hostel in Malaga completely outstanding. Not only do they really know all about Tarifa, but they're willing to go above and beyond to help figure out a day trip, or even to just sit and chat over a glass of wine. Highly recommended for any traveler, solo or with friends, who want to meet really cool fellow travelers in a completely perfect location.

enjoyed the stay at the melting pot. unfortunately, the owner was very unfriendly even or maybe even more so on christmas eve. would have expected a more welcoming atmosphere.
melting pot - friendly well-run hostel
I really recommend this hostel. Staff were super friendly, helpful and accommodating in a low-key and natural way. Hostel was comfortable, spacious and clean. Breakfast generous and laid out at a good time. Easy to find and close to main attractions of Tarifa.
The Windy Pot
I was probably there at a strange time as there were really strong winds, so there was no surfing / kitesurfing and no ferries to Morocco. Most people were stopping in Tarifa to go to Morocco, so the vibe was a bit dull as everyone was disappointed. However the hostel is fine, nothing special to be honest, but OK. Annoyingly though I didn't have a shower for two days as there was no hot water. And hand held showers? Really? The beds were fine, particularly if you're a fan of your Gran's bedspreads and blankets. The communal area and bar is actually really nice and a good place to hang with the hippies, I mean fellow travellers. Staff were very helpful too, though failed to tell me the ferries to Morocco were cancelled when I checked in and booked two nights specifically to go there for the day. All in all, average my friends.
cozy
I was here with a group of friends in the beginning of December. We were on a road trip through the south of Spain. I really enjoyed staying in this hostel. It felt like one big family. There were a lot of surfers in the hostel which only made it nicer. It has a hippy kind of feeling. The dorms are not that special but it is a very cozy hostel. The kitchen was a bit small but ok. We had one bathroom in a dorm for 8 people so it took a long time. But the bathroom was nice.
