Disappointing meal
After a first good meal we decided to give it another go before we left the area Yes the restaurant was busy so I did expect to wait! Not quite the 40 minutes it eventually took Wish we hadn't bothered as the Hashbrown Casserole Shepherd's pie was terrible. Didn't look anything like the picture with no peas, 2 bits of carrots and a distinct lack of mash Shame really. Spot the one served from the attached pictures..
Great service
Our waitress Sayde was great! Food was good! Service was on point! Highly recommend asking for Sayde she was excellent!
Not as good as it used to be
This place has usually been good but this time they were out of several things we ordered and it wasn't that late, around 5 pm. The food was not as good as usual either. Wonder if they are short staffed like so many places now.
Worst service ever and Luke warm food!
We went for early supper at 5 pm. They were not busy at all. They were not using the whole restaurant fir seating. The service was extremely SLOW! The young guy who was the greeter / seating us moved at a snails pace taking us to our table. That should have been my first warning ⚠ to walk out. No smile, no nice greeting. It took a long time for the waitress to come to the table to take our order. She was rude. She didn't ask what bread we wanted. I had to tell her after when I could flag her down. It probably took 45 mi minutes before the food arrived. And half of it was barely warm. Our friend ordered breakfast food. And his meal came only part of it at a time. It took her 5 minutes just to bring ketchup to the table for his eggs. Which were cold by the time she came back with the rest of his order. At least our meal was decent even if our sides were barely warm. She was more interested in speaking the the other table of customers that brought a DOG 🐕 🙄 into the restaurant! Seriously a dog? Come on! That's a first time for that. But okay fine I can get over that. We were in there for over an hour and a half. I guess management has gone to crap! Or they are understaffed!? The worst service we have ever had!
I hope something changes.
Amazing how far this place has totally tanked! We actually tried twice and both times were the same result: VERY long wait outside, when we were finally seated, another LOOOOONG wait to the point where we got up and left. As we were leaving, a couple tables noticed and said the food wasn't even worth the wait. Half of the dining area was closed and they are apparently very short of help. I feel bad, because this used to be a good place to eat.
Do not go to Cracker Barrel
Seated after a short wait, then sat for 25 minutes before even being spoke to. Even the manager that lit the lamp on the table beside of us did not speak to us. Our food was barely warm. My friend order the vegetable plate that comes with 4 vegetables. She ordered corn, reg. baked potato, broccoli casserole and dumplings. Her bill showed the 9.99 charge for the vegetable plate and upcharges for the potato and broccoli casserole. The manager stated that this was the only way to order the potato even though she did not order the upscale loaded potato. this resulted in an additional 3.99 for something she did not get. she was also charged the upcharge for the broccoli casserole which apparently is considered an upscale vegetable. She paid almost 20.00 for a 9.99 meal. How is that even right. Will not go back.
Terrible
Not sure if we offended someone for showing up for breakfast but we were promptly seated and then forgotten about. After about 15 minutes of watching everyone around us get served we decided to leave. Terrible customer service
Good food with a really long wait time
One of our 'go to' restaurants has always been Cracker Barrel. Whenever we can't agree and are near one of the chains, it is always unanimous to stop and eat. This location was right on the main traffic area in town. We waited an exceptionally long time to be seated at a table. I think our wait time was about 45 min but only half the restaurant was being utilized. After ordering - we decided to stick with some of our favorite meals. Everything was delicious. While eating we noticed an elderly lady who was eating by herself. I noticed her wedding rings were on her left hand indicating she was a widow. My husband caught her server when he was making his rounds and asked him to let us pay for this lady's meal. We told him to tell her that the meal had been covered and not tell her WHO paid for the dinner. Evidently he couldn't process. We were eating and here comes the sweet lady thanking us for paying for her meal. We 'visited' a bit and she told us she was indeed a widow and Cracker Barrel was a favorite place she and her husband visited often. Other than the server spilling the beans about our desire to take care of someone's dinner, the only complaint for this location would be the wait time.
Good Cracker Barrel food - unnecessary wait time
The food here is on par for Cracker Barrel restaurants. This restaurant was understaffed and caused everyone to have at least a 30 minute wait to get a table. there were plenty of available tables in the dining area and many were not cleaned. Our waitress, Belle, provided outstanding service.
Definitely not what it used to be!
Don't come to Cracker Barrel in Lynchburg unless you've got time to kill! We had a 30 minute wait, which was to be expected since we were told they were short staffed, waitress / waiter wise. But, to sit at the table for 20 minutes with no drinks and an additional 45 to get food was ridiculous. Their only saving grace was food was hot and edible, even if we were almost done with our main course before our sides finally made it out.
No longer great place to eat
I was a true Cracker Barrel fan. The last two times to the Lynburg location has fallen off tremendously. The door has been overcooked, the maple glazed carrots have very little maple glazed, told they don't put tomato sauce on the meatloaf any longer. My friends have also been disappointed with the food saying the quality isn't there any longer. Won't be going back.
A mixed bag experience
Cracker Barrell is a frequent choice when traveling. We knew our timing was bad to arrive at 12:50 on a Sunday. Lots of folks waiting and told it was 40 minutes and it was a bit over. We apparently were the end of the rush. Part of the problem was apparently a lack of staff as a good number of tables were empty. Just appreciated those who worked. Our server, Arron, was one of the best in a while! On the positive side, the apple sides and the greens were more than ample! Great corn bread as usual. The negative was that my hamburger steak was overcooked. That would have been OK if I asked to have the gravy cover it up. I had it plain. Just one of those things! We found some gifts in the store to make it a positive experience overall.
Excellent Service & Warm Greeting
I took my nephew here for his 18th birthday breakfast. Our server was extremely friendly! At one point, my nephew accidentally dropped his sausage on the floor, and the server quickly brought out a brand new one, no charge.
Giggly college girls offer no Service
I arrived at 2:30 PM and this should have been much easier to manage due to other long wait times. I went to locations to check in and three giggly girls were having the time of their life while i waitied to be attended to. Several looked up and stared at me only to return to their intriguing conversation. finally after approximately 5 minutes, it was just me, I was told it may be 30 minutes as I saw scores of empty seats. When served food was delicious as usualy. sign in esperience is something to think about especially knowing how slow and deliberate they have become with allowing you a seat.
Just disappointing
First time ever that I have had a negative experience at a Cracker Barrel. The steak was over cooke. The meatloaf undercooked. The biscuits and muffins cold and hard. The green beans overly greasy. Bacon undercooked. Awful….
Sucks
So this is the 2nd time I have come to get the Thursday special. I was told it was out and had to order chicken tenders which was very greasy skimpy sides. So after order goes in a lady next to us sits down and orders the special and gets it. My husband order the sampler and didn't get all the samples. Don't waste your time here as this stuff happens all the time. We will not be back
Really Gone Downhill
We visited two different local (Roanoke and Lynchburg) Cracker Barrels during the pandemic, and of course, service was somewhat worse than normal, but tolerable given the conditions. However, since the end of mask-wearing, we expected things to improve. We tried Roanoke, and vowed never to return. However, since they only refund merchandise with gift cards, we wanted to use our already spent money, so went to Lynchburg in July, 2021. There was a long wait, which was deceiving, because non one was in the store-I guess they were waiting in their cars. After 30 minutes, and seeing many empty tables (Perhaps because of low staffing?), we were about ready to leave, and then our names were called. Our server was prompt in taking our order, but after another 20 minutes we again told ourselves we would not be returning. Everyone around us was also waiting, and fidgety. Finally asked for biscuits, which were very hard and cold. Once the food arrived, my plate was medium cool and paltry / dried out hash brown casserole - should never, never have been served. Husband's breakfast was ok, but not worth the wait. Don't know if the problem is lack of kitchen help or what, but they really need to get their act together if they are going to stay in business. It seemed to be plenty of servers, hovering around the kitchen door, so I'm assuming the kitchen is the delay, but definitely not worth it any time soon.
Good food
We went to the Cracker Barrel today and it was ok. Most of the food was good, except for the Biscuit Beignets and the dumplings. Some of the dumplings were raw and 1 of the Biscuits Beignets were also raw. The service was slow, but I think it was the server's first day.
Unmet expectations
Today was my sons birthday and we love Cracker Barrel and were expecting a nice meal. We were met by and man with his mask under his nose and he took order then quickly disappeared. A couple beside us had gotten there before us and had also not gotten their food. When service asked us how we were doing and realized we did not have food, they brought it out immediately and it seemed like it had just been sitting there and they had forgotten about us. My daughters chicken pot pie tasted terrible and we had to return it. For myself, the eggs tasted cold and rubbery and I couldn't even finish them. The hash browns were cold and dry. My husbands roast beef was overcooked and overall everything was a disappointment. On my way out a worker slammed into me and didn't even apologize. Also, another waitress was on her phone and brushed by me, also not apologizing. I am not one to write bad reviews and normally I enjoy cracker Barrell and I believe there is bad management going on at this restaurant. I could not completely enjoy my sons birthday while dealing with bad food and service.
Cold Uneatable Ham and fixin's.
We arrived and were promptly seated... it took a little while to see ur server... But when he arrived he was dry helpful and attentive.. all through the meal he was very prompt... however, that was where good service stopped... we waited over 45 minutes on our order, several other diners were waiting for their meals when we were seated... that's when service sank... when the server brought refills on the beverages they were in small plastic cups because they were out of clean cups, this was at 10:00... when the orders arrived all the components were cold except for the apples... I ordered the ham and biscuit plate... the hash brown casserole was cold, the ham was cold and completely dried out and the biscuits were the same... my wife's were presented the same way... pretty sad for a usually efficient restaurant to be this way... I probably will not revisit this store in the future, maybe other stores in other areas... I do not like to give bad reviews, but in this case I had to...
Dependable and good!
The food is always good, the prices reasonable, the atmosphere nice, but the service was excellent. Nice place to eat!
Over rated
Was so busy on the weekends you could not get in to eat. When we did the service was horrible and they had run out of Fried apples. Place has gone down hill with current managers.
Another Cracker Barrel, you know what to expect.
Stopped by after a long drive from PA and got fast service and plenty of wholesome food. No surprises, which is what you are looking for at CB.
Good food, poor service
My family and I recently ate at the Cracker Barrel in Lynchburg on a Saturday afternoon when we were in the area for a visit. It is always a reliable option when traveling with picky eaters. We waited over a half hour to be seated, which is fine, but there were many tables empty inside the restaurant. The service was slow that afternoon, many of the workers were spending time visiting among themselves and friends who came to visit instead of attending to the customers. The food was good as usual, but it just was a longer visit than we had anticipated due to the slowness of the service.
Worst trip EVER
My wife & I went for breakfast. We have eaten at this & many other C. Barrels when travelling. I ordered country ham biscuits & apples. Apples were just right, the biscuits were under baked & doughy the ham was sugar cured not country. My wife ordered pancakes & sausage. The pancakes were over cooked on one side to compensate under cooked on the other side, she also received only 1 small sausage party. We were very disppointed in our meals as we normally have good experience when at a Cracker Barrel.
Arbetsresa
Provade detta matställe som var billigt. Maten var vällagad men ganska smaklös. Råvarorna verkade vara mycket bra.
Perfect for Large Group Luncheon
Our family of 22 wanted to get together before a funeral. The folks at Cracker Barrel totally exceeded our expectations. The wait staff were very attentive and gave excellent service. Our food was delivered quickly and hot. Of course it's delicious and plenty of options. The restaurant had closed off one end for us so we were able to visit and reminisce and even shed a few tears in private. There was no rush to clear the room for more customers. It was perfect.
Long wait, cold food, small portions
After being seated and ordered our food, it was over an hour before it was brought out. When the food came out, some of it was cold. Had to wait 40 minutes for a refill on our drinks. The waitress told us she spilled the baby carrots and would bring us more..... never did. The portions were very small. At least the manager was sympathetic to our plight and gave us 50% off. I wish I could say this was the only time this has happened.
Always Wonderful!
The food is always wonderful. No matter what we order it is all so good. Good southern comfort food is good for the soul. Their sweet tea and bread is so good to. We have not had any issues with the service as they are normally prompt and friendly. Go a bit earlier so you dont have too long to wait. And we love the looking around the store too.
Excellent and busy
On an extremely busy morning _- people waiting inside and outside _ the staff was excellent _ very friendly and informative. The wait moved along easily as it's not hard to burn some time looking around the gift shop. Food was great, as usual. Staff was clearly busy, but we never felt neglected. It was a real good experience.
Cracker Barrel
The roast beef is always good 😊 The mashed potatoes, carrots and turnip greens were all excellent. My waitress disappeared for about 15 mins and someone else brought out my food. Nonetheless It was so good. She didn't know where my waitress was either. Their veggies are worth going in for😊 The biscuits were great but the muffins were cold and hard. All in all it was a very satisfying meal😊
Consistently Good with Large Portions
Our group went to Cracker Barrel. You get so much food. Our waitress was excellent in how she handled our group. The cocacola cake was a hit. As well as the fried catfish. It's good to go to if you're behind on your calorie intake and you want some good home cooking. Some items are obviously frozen and re heated, otherwise I would give it five stars. Still good food.
Eatting in
Thought the Wait was going to be long but got witted pretty quickly. Waitress was friendly food was great.
Average
They were out of the French dip so we were disappointed. I had the cod and it was pretty good. Usually the food taste better.
Food service
Went for breakfast. Thought is. Would be easier. Early mornings got there. The. Waiter took our order. Brouhgt us. Some thing to drink.. we. Wait for our food. 20 minutes later. Our food. Was. Ready. Just. One experience.
No Surprises at Breakfast
Pretty standard fare, eggs and grits. Bacon was good. Coffee was hot. Fill the trough at this place.
Go someplace else
Today marks the fourth bad meal here. We live in Lynchburg and this has always been our go-to for breakfast out, not anymore. Our server was good, but as with previous visits the food was barely marginal. ALL breakfast meats were over done to the point there were inedible, eggs cold and French toast left on the grill WAY too long.
Awesome!!!!
We just finished eating here. Vicky is awesome and deserves a raise. The classic conundrum at any Cracker Barrel is the sheer size of the menu - ie do I eat breakfast, lunch, dinner etc etc. And then do I get the fried chicken or the buttermilk. The choices and decisions can be treacherous. She guided us through the menu like the four-star pro that she is. Food was awesome, service was great. Highly recommend!!
Avanti
I went alone for an early dinner. I had chicken and dumplings, fried okra, and turnip greens. The meal was just adequate not up to the Cracker Barrel standards. The dumplings were chewy and were served warm as was the sides. It will not stop me from eating at CB but it was not enjoyable.
OK and better than fast food
Food was room temperature-salad came a bit after meal was served. Everything cooked perfectly. sides were so so good. Waiter warm and friendly with a smile. For the price this was a gem.
Don't go hungry
Went there on a Sunday. Very busy but I placed a to go order. After waiting a few minutes I went home and none of my items were hot. I won't be back again anytime soon.
Terrible
Normally fast seating and great food. They told us 25-30 minutes wait. 45 minutes later we checked and they said another 10 minutes. Finally got seated and no waiters even stopped by to say anything for 10 minutes. She wasn't friendly at all. Took over 30 minutes for food to be delivered. Food was cold. Management needs to step it up.
Waitress trainee... Oh, well
We enjoy stopping at Cracker Barrell, but tonight was not our best experience. Having been a waitress myself growing up, we tried to be patient while our waitress learned what to do, but was very disappointed that the food was horribly cold by the time it got to the table. The manager took it back and had it warmed up.. Much better the 2nd time around.
Great waitstaff, slow kitchen
Some really great waitstaff at this location and the food is good, but the kitchen can be super slow.
Avanti
Went for dinner with family the wait was longer than usual and it took an inordinate amount of time to receive our food. The food was typical of Cracker Barrel.
Long wait
We finally left after an over 40 minute wait and basically MIA wait staff. I've never waited this long at any CB. Very disappointing.
Breakfast with family
I love Crackel Barrell to begin with... seating wait was short.. greeted with good mornings and smiles.. the food was great and the waitress did a great job....
Awful Wait and Serve Time
While the server was pleasant, we waited a long length of time to receive our order. In addition, I ordered take out and waited 30 minutes past the commitment time to have my order ready. Management has to do better.
Traveling Through
Passing through on the way to Harrisonburg Virginia, so we stopped in for a late breakfast / early lunch. So we had orders for breakfast and lunch and all was cooked perfect and tasted great. We where able to get in and out very quickly and back on the road. I will stop in again if in the area.
Consistently great food!!!
Our waiter Jordan was awesome!!! He was very attentive even when our food took a little longer than normal. The food was tasty as always. 😁 I've never had a bad dish and this time was no different.
Remember the scary barn in the movie Twister
Shopping in the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store was as much fun as dining. The entrees were delicious and the food handling skills were excellent. No fingers in the plating area, food was correctly prepared and until I looked up at the ceiling in the store, I was un afraid. The ceiling is covered in vintage finds that would kill or maim if they fell. Where do they shelter in an earthquake?
Service was so good, it's like shooting fish in a barrel
We Stopped at Cracker barrel on a whim. The hostess greeted us and although it was a Sunday morning we were seated immediately. The meal was exceptional and they get an A+ for a clean kitchen area and staff food handling skills. I watched five employees no fingers or thumbs inside the food area on the plates. Safety rating is a B, fire extinguishers should be visible to everyone.
Completely Satisfied
I tried the new chicken eggs benadict bowl and was totally satisfied. That with unlimited coffee and a biscuit with apple butter for my dessert, tasty! Aaron was a wonderful server, very friendly, and kept the coffee coming!
Disappointing sides
Was here this evening with my family. A family tradition, every Friday evening we eat out as a family. This evening, I had ordered the Lemon Pepper Rainbow Trout, Cheese Grits, Fried Apples, and Seasonal Vegetables. (See the pic) The trout was about the best of my meal. The Fried Apples were right there with it. The vegetables were ok. The Grits however, Sucked!! (See other pic) the grits came to the table with Chedder Cheese sprinkled on top. The grits tasted like they had sugar in them. Definitely not the SC Low Country Cheesey Grits that I know and love!!!
Love the food
We tried this place on a whim and I was impressed with the amount of food, the quality of food and the price seemed fair. Only concern is the way the store layout is, it was hard to determine where to go to get on the wait list...
Your Well Run Cracker Barrel
If you like Cracker Barrels, you will like it here. We had breakfast on the way back from the IMSA / TUDOR races at VIR. Breakfast was just as we like it. Service was very good.
Great Breakfast
Stopped by for breakfast and it was our first time at this location. As usual we had great service and delicious food. We had a light meal this visit consisting of a muffin with a side of fried apples for my wife and the gravy biscuits for myself. Everything was great. We will definitely stop by again if in the Lynchburg area.
Average Lunch
I have had a better meal at other Cracker Barrels. This time I ordered a grilled pork chop, green beans and fried okra with water to drink. The pork chop was tough and hard to cut. The beans were OK and okra was very hot, crisp and good. The biscuits were OK. It all seemed to be lacking flavor. The restaurant was clean and full of customers at lunchtime on a Wednesday. The service was pretty good, but I don't think the waiter even asked us how it was going. It was not the worst meal I have ever had, but it was not the best... so I would say it was in the " average " category. They need to work on the food flavor a little more in the kitchen...
GRANDMA'S SAMPLER IS THE BEST!
My absolute favorite meal at Cracker Barrel is Grandma's Sampler. It's not on the menu any longer, but just ask, they'll make it for you. It comes with two eggs (any style), a piece each of bacon, sausage, and ham (choice of country or glazed), hash brown casserole (but you can get regular hash browns) or cooked apples, and two pancakes. Our service was very good and except for a syrup spill on my meat, the food was excellent. Not to worry, they gladly replaced the meat.
Severe Disappointment
The night I visited, I suggest to the assistant manager that she take names so people could shop and not cause a fire hazard of lots of people standing in the middle of the walkway. There was an older lady who used a walker to get in and by the way I saw her walking, she had no business having to stand for as long as she did just to give her name to be seated. The assistant manager was rude and told me they would not consider taking names because there was no need. After being seated, I ordered the sampler. After I received it, the waiter asked if I got everything. I quickly told him yes. The food came out in a timely manner and everything looked satisfactory. Once I started eating the ham, I noticed that the meatloaf was missing. I tracked down another waiter who was passing by to ask what came on the sampler. He said that they were out of meatloaf until 8:30 p. m. (It was around 7 p. m.) Then, he left and came back. He offered me either another piece of ham or dumplings. I honestly would have ordering something else had I known and was not satisfied at all. I ordered the dumplings. They brought out a very watery mixture that they called dumplings. Then, they threw another smaller plate of water substance down that they called dumplings. I don't know who was cooking at that time, but it was a disgrace. My husband's biggest complaint about Cracker Barrels is the fact that they are never consistent. This was definitely the case here. I left told them I was not happy and they didn't seem to care. Honestly, I cannot see myself visiting another Cracker Barrel again for a while. They always seem to disappoint no matter how many times we keep giving them another chance. Today, I called the manager and he was awesome. He says he wants to make it right. I suggested retraining his employees. The store was clean and the rest of the food was good.
Worst Experience Ever at a Cracker Barrel!!
We had been traveling all day, was tired and wanted some " comfort " food which is what you normally get at a Cracker Barrel.. Drove several miles off our route to this location expecting to be able to place a " to-go order " rather quickly to take to our hotel. Told the woman at the register I wanted to place the order, she called a server and I waited 10 minutes to her to come to the front. She took the order, I visited the restroom, talked with the lady at the register, talked with another employee, waited and waited for at least 25 minutes. Server finally returned, not with my order, but to tell me they were out of cornbread and it would be another 10 minutes before it was ready. Waited, waited and waited-lady at the register was obviously embarrassed by the situation. Finally the order came, but was short on cornbread which was then added at my request. After an hour, went on our way to hotel famished and flustered. When I unpacked the food one of the items I had paid for, was missing! Was too tired and too far to go back but called the store and asked for manager. Was finally connected with him but he was not interested in talking with me until I mentioned Trip Advisor. He was very unconcerned; however, after further discussion, he took my information and said I would receive a gift card for compensation. 12 days later still waiting for the gift card. My advise is to AVOID this Cracker Barrel!
A Very Greedy Waitress
My husband and I stopped for breakfast at this Cracker Barrel while staying in Lynchburg. We were seated by Paula and given a menu and told she would be right back to take a drink order. We waited a long time and my husband was turned around in his seat looking for her. A different waitress stopped and asked if she could help us. My husband told her we would like some coffee and would like to place our food order. Paula comes racing over and says SHE will handle us. The nice waitress said that she would just get our coffee for us, she was just trying to be helpful. It appeared Paula was not very happy about that. The nice lady brought us coffee cups and creamers and walked over to Paula to get the coffee pot which Paula had on her tray. She refused to give the coffee pot to the nice lady and we had to wait until she was finished with other people before we got any coffee. Instead of giving her customers good service, Paula just wanted to make sure she got the tip for waiting on our table. We were so angered by this greedy service, my husband gave a nice tip to the nice, helpful lady and Paula got nothing.
People were so friendly I didn't want to leave
From the time my wife and I walked in the door a young lady named Chelsea made sure we were welcomed. Lindsie was our waitress and she did an excellent job. The food was great. We will come back to eat here. The manager was always walling around making sure every body was very happy.
Good Food and Good Service
One of the busiest Cracker Barrels I have ever seen, but don't let that discourage you because they are fast to seat and serve you. I have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed.
Very Poor Service
No waiting in line because we got there fairly early. Our waiter, Geoffrey, did not know what a special was. There were several items listed at the front about items and I assumed they were specials, at a lower price. These are not at a lower price, he said, they are just listed there for some reason. He brought us water, then returned in about 15 min and asked if we saved room for dessert. Huh!! Told him we haven't even ordered our food and he seemed surprised. Finally was able to order. He asked each of us in our party if we wanted biscuits, cornbread or both. We all said both. When the food arrived there was 2 biscuits and 2 cornbread muffins on a plate. I asked about this and he said that one meal doesn't come with any, yet he asked which they wanted when the order was taken. ??? Also he did not bring drink refills or spare napkins, matter of fact, he didn't return once our food was delivered, until I went and asked someone to have him come back to refill drinks. When he returned, he asked if we want our drinks refilled, yet the empty glasses were all staring at him and I had requested drink refills. I'm not sure why he had issues, it looked like he was only working 3 tables. More training is necessary. The last few times I have been here, each has been progressively worse than the next. I'm not sure if I will return here. There are plenty of other restaurants to choose from.
biscuits
A friend and I went for supper. The waitress was nice and friendly, but my friend had asked for biscuits to be brought out before we ordered. She stated that her GM was there and couldnt bring them out unless he was ordering from the menu and not the kids menu. He said he was and she brought them out.... then when we were ready to order, he placed his order. the food came out and he requested more biscuits, which she then said there will be an upcharge. This was not appropriate for us since we wanted more biscuits with the meal. Other restaraunts bring you as many as you want, ie. Logans, Texas roadhouse and Red Lobster. What makes cracker barrell's biscuits different from all the rest? I know they have to be included in the price of the food, which is expensive to begin with.
Quqlity of service and food going down
This hasa been my weekly go to place for breakfast for the past several months while I have been in Lynchburg. I am a fan of the chain and usually like the cooking. The past several weeks I have noticed the food coming out of the kitchen has breen progressively cooler, and the last time, while not cold, made me wonder if I would have " issues ". Normally the wait staff has been attentive, but again the last several visit, they were slow to take my order, left the check roughly 3 minutes after my meal was delivered and were not attentive to filling the coffe cup or the water glass. I had the distinct feeling they were trying to turn the table, even though less than half the tables were occupied. Based on the continuing downward spiral, i am on the hunt for a new breakfast place.
Breakfast!
This is one of my favorite places for breakfast! Always good! Breakfast is certainly the best meal they serve. Lunch and dinner are fair.!the service, depending on the day, questionable.
Great service
My husband & I had brunch here on a recent stay in Lynchburg & our service was fantastic. The food was excellent, too. I wish I could remember the waitress's name, but she was so attentive & got us in & out quickly.
Quick lunch
Stopped in since it had been awhile since stopping there. Service was very quick. Food was excellent. I did note that many of the servers had 3 or 4 stars on their aprons which denotes those with more experience. I didn't have to wait to be seated, but as I was leaving at12:20pm a line of about 8 people were waiting to be seated, which is not bad considering the time of day.
Needs a good cleaning
My family and I have eaten at large number of Cracker Barrells. This location probably ranks 2nd from the bottom. The worst one, I have since learned, fired their management staff and started over again. I am not sure the age of the building, but the restraint needs a good cleaning. The food was on par with typical Cracker Barrells; however, the service was slow considering the restaurant was only half full, which is strange for any Cracker Barrell on a Sunday afternoon (Most other Cracker Barrells are packed all day Sunday).
Multiple visits
Lukewarm food at best - Did offer to reheat but we were headed somewhere and couldn't wait to have the food taken back and reheated. Disappointed
Extremely disappointing Cracker Barrel visit
We are huge Cracker Barrel fans and eat there often. This is the first time that we've tried the one in Lynchburg and will probably be the last. We stopped there around 5:00 on Sunday afternoon and surprisingly, there was not a line to be seated. However, that was basically the end of the good news. Quick response by the waiter to get our drink order, but then he stopped to speak with another customer for a good 5 minutes. He then returned to the table and told us sine he hadn't make it " to the kitchen yet, " he would just go ahead and take our order. Okay, not great, but we rolled with it. We both ordered the Sunday chicken special and found the chicken to be overcooked - almost burnt. The rolls must have been left over from breakfast as they were almost hard. To top it off, we had to ask for ice tea refills not once, but twice. This is absolutely not typical of Cracker Barrel standards and I hope they can get things together soon.
What I like or don't
We love Cracker Barrel not only for their great meat but mostly because there is such a variety of vegetables and salad. Most restaurants have very little to choose from if you are not a big meat eater which I am not. I also like to shop on the other side. The only thing I don't like is that sometimes the noise is so great it is not the best place to meet if you want to visit.
