It is perfect for international symposiums, celebratory events and performances, as well as family events such as weddings, engagement parties and 60th birthday parties. The high-quality facilities and equipment of the Dragon Valley Hotel and the fine service allows for guests to have a most relaxing and enjoyable time. The modern, cozy lobby features marble walls and a fireplace. Lobby lounge in front of the information and reception desk Guests can ease their fatigue after a good exercise session at the traditional Finnish-style sauna. The men's sauna is located on the 1st floor and the women's is on the 2nd floor. Located on the 2nd floor next to the Front Desk, the bar provides a cozy atmosphere and a clear view of the skiing courses. The swimming pool features transparent glass walls on three sides, enabling guests to enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding the pool while taking a swim. The swimming pool uses clear, natural water from Barwangsan Mountain that has been disinfected to maintain pure water quality. We also are strict about maintaining a certain water temperature as the weather in Yongpyeong is cool even in the summer time. The pool measures 25X12m and is 130cm deep. There is also a shallow 35cm pool for kids.

Staff managed to track down my lost phone!

I stayed in Dragon Valley in the last week of the ski season in Mar 2024. It it my 3rd stay there and the staff have always been so nice and helpful. And for my 3rd time there especially so. I accidentally left my mobile phone in a taxi and I had forgotten the car license number and also wasn't even aware of which taxi company it belonged to. Nonetheless the staff at front desk, Yoo Jaehyeon and Amelia, made some calls and managed to track down the taxi! It was late at night at that time and the driver was already asleep and not contactable but both Jaehyeon and Amelia made sure to follow-up first thing in the morning with the driver and arranged for the him to bring the phone back to the hotel. Thank you so much Jaehyeon and Amelia!

Lovely Stay

Beautiful hotel with comfortable rooms. Plenty of storage for gear. The rainwater shower is a plus. The reception staff were absolutely friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to deal with. It's just next to the ski slope.

No vegetarian food in the resort

The entire resort had no vegetarian options in the food court which is unbelievable considering the amount of 'westerners' who choose to visit. Staff were extremely unhelpful and were not willing to take ingredients out to make a meal vegetarian. This really ruined the trip for me and I would not recommend staying here.

Most Convenient Hotel for the slopes

We stayed at the Resort over CNY and it is perfectly situated to to ski in and out for the slopes. The rooms were comfortable and the staff were very competent whenever we engaged them. That being said there were one or two aspects that brings down the review. As it was CNY weekend the rates for the hotel were extremely expensive for a 2 night stay, even with this high rate though there was no breakfast included in the stay and you had to pay extra to use the Gym and swimming pool facilities. The room temperature was difficult to control and we had to open windows to regulate the heat of the room. The bathroom ventilation is connected to the room next door and our room smelled of cigarette smoke due to this, the rooms were non-smoking but the other guest obviously didn't adhere to that. I would return to the resort for more skiing but probably out of the CNY high period to get a better value for money

Nice ski resort

It was a nice ski resort. Snow conditions was excellent. There is bus from airport and Seoul to the resort but need to book in advance. Look for the transportation in the resort website. Although it stated the ski opened in 15th November, not all slopes are opened. Full open may be in late December.

Lovely place to stay for skiiing

The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Comes with complimentary 2 bottles of water, body wash, shampoo and lotion but no toothbrush was provided. Has hairdryer, mini bar, complimentary tea and coffee. Also comes with wireless charging stand for supported phones. It's difficult to manage the heater as everything is in korean language, and nothing in English. WiFi 's connection speed was slow. Has a nice sofa to seat on.

Must stay during Winter

You will come back again as these hotel really a good choice for either friends / couples / family for their holiday. You can have your winter sport or indoor swimming during your stay. Try to eat one of the best beef near the resort as well. Breakfast very delicious too.

International Skiing to be had in Pongpyong

This is an international resort with prestine ski runs to suit all levels and then some. Easily accessible from Seoul Station to Jin-bu station then a taxi to the resort. Taxi maximum is 30, 000Won or you can catch a bus. Express train takes 1hr40mins. My room is very spacious with king bed over looking the ski fields. Skiing is open from 7:30am - 5pm and night time is 7pm - 10pm. Food is very expensive but you can get some cheap meals of hot soup etc. There is also a 7 eleven or shop with food and necessities. This is the best and biggest resort in South Korea. There is spa and hot tub facilities at an expensive cost. Would still highly recommend this resort - staff are lovely as with all Korean people I have met on this holiday. They are all very friendly and very helpful. Would come back to this resort- skiing is great.

YongPyong Resort

Awesome vacation. Snowboarded all the way to the front of my hotel. Beautiful scenery during the winter time. Great restaurants and in house bowling. Cant wait to see what it look like in the summer. They had snowboarding and ski rentals in house. The rooms are very spacious but no fridge. Prices are average.

Happy holidays at ski resort

Stayed 2 nights at this ski resort. Room is very big and well maintained with all the necessary needed in the room. Variety eateries can be found and do enjoy the fresh air in the morning. Have a break and relax at this nice resort.

Great family vacation! Totally underrated

We went to Yong Pyong Resort for 5 days, we are a family of 4, kids 11 and 8. - Hotel room The resort is big, and there are different buildings, so each on is a different experience. We stayed at the Tower, with full view of the Slopes. Although most people don't speak Korean, we managed to get bay quite easily. They are super friendly and eager to help. We slept in a room without beds, that is we sleep on thin futons instead, and what I call Korean pillows, which we had to change mid Holiday. Watch out when booking! As opposed to other reviews, we managed to balance the heating quite easily, and we were very comfortable. - Eating. Plenty of places, with Korean, Western, Asian, types of food. Most of them were good, but my kids loved the Kebabs. - Skiing. I believe this is a great place for beginners and advanced, whether you Ski or Snowboard. We hired a trainer, as this was our first time with snowboards. They have trainers from all over the world, so we even managed to find one that spoke Spanish. - Misc. There are laundry machines, there is a Karaoke bar, Bowling alley (children under 13 are not allowed do play), Arcade, Pool tables, Bars, etc. - Dos. Buy the discount card. It gives you 5% on most food stalls, 25% on the Ski lift, and 30% on the rentals. As long as you use 60% of the total, it will be refundable. You can pay almost anything within the resort. There are plenty of stores, so whatever you may forget, you can buy or rent there: gloves, jackets, helmets, etc. Fully recommend it, if you live in Asia. Its cheaper than Japan, and just a 3 hour drive from Seoul. There is a Purple bus shuttle that can take you back to several station in Seoul, but just buy early.

Ideal Winter Accommodation

My fave of all the hotel we stayed during our Korea trip, stone's throw away to the Ski Mountain, wake up to the breathtaking view of the snowy ski mountain. Bedroom was good. Easily accessible to restaurants and mart. Hotel has amenities like sauna, heated pool, but there's a fee for to pay to use these facilities. My kids truly enjoyed their stay here. Will definitely be back. Happy holidays everyone!

Nicely renovated rooms

Great location. Next to ski lifts and ski rentals. Nice rooms, newly refurbished, towels are newly refreshed as well. Most of the hotel and retail staff unable to converse in English. Ski equipment (skis and poles) may be kept at hotel locker room. Sauna a good place to destress after a Long day at slopes. 50% discounted price for hotel staff. Disappointed that visits to sauna is not free. A comfortable stay. 👍

Right Next To The Snow Fields

Spent 4 nights with my family. Stayed there mainly for the sking at the YongPyong Resort. Pros : 1) Hotel is conveniently located next to the snow field. 2) Room is clean, large and well maintained. 3) Small convenience store on the ground floor. Many eating places within 5 mins. walk away. 4) Reception staff can speak simple English. 5) Buy the " Gift Card " in denominations of 50K, 100K, 300K or 500K Won at the Hotel reception that will enable discounts of 5% at the bakery opposite the reception, 40% ski lift & ski gear rental and 30% for the gondola ride. Not sure about others. Can buy any number of " Gift Cards ", it cannot be top up unlike T-money, just buy more cards. Any residue amount (after using more than 60%) can be refunded at the Hotel reception (no admin. charges). All the outlets that I patronized accepts the " Gift Card " including the food kiosks, cafe or restaurants, so no problems using the Gift Card. This is the main advantage. 6) Wifi was fast. Cons : 1) There is no English instructions in the room to use the heater. Consequently, we had to open the room window to lower the room temperature. 2) There is no drawer in the room. 3) No view of the snow field due to the design of the hotel block. Will definitely recommend this hotel to other skiers.

Ski resort just behind the hotel

Although it was only for one night, the resort left a deep impression due to the comfort of its rooms at the same time very conveniently located to convenience stores and shops at its lobby level. The most beautiful part was its back entrance leads straight to a ski resort and it was beautiful for us as it was snowing and already decorated with Christmas decorations. A good breakfast spread awaits the next morning. What else to hope for in an accommodation? Attentive English staff, spacious comfortable rooms that kept us warm and convenience.

Clean and comfy

Stayed at a night at the hotel and room is spacious and clean. Bed is cosy and provides basic toiletries. Hotel also has a mini mart if you need to get snacks. My room comes with breakfast as well. Spread variety is good and taste is rather decent. Beautiful scenery to boot. Overall, recommended if you have some time to spare while at Seoul.

good services, room big, noise pollution

stayed for 2 nights on a group tour. Just a few minutes walk benefits for people who are going skiing and about 10 mins walk to water park & small jimjjibang. Also about 5 mins walk to a center with few restaurants and mart. Room is very big and bathroom is satisfied. Only, noise pollution, i gotten lots of jumping sound, skiing sounds from floor above. very irritating unable to sleep. hence, i took a bottle & hit on the ceiling to ask the people above floor to stop. lol

Olimpiadi invernali 2018

Standard Korean resort

Directly in YongPyong resort, very closed to ski lifts. Regular 4* resort. Everything is closed. Rooms are clean and bathroom will need some renovation. Many restaurants nearby and water world nearby.

Winter Family Trip

Planned for an overnight stay as part of our Winter trip just for the experience of staying in a ski resort and feel the season. Enjoyed every bit of our stay, will definitely go back so we'll get to see the top of the mountain. Unfortunately the cable car is not available during our stay due to preps for winter olympics.

The only hotel in the resort, but nice nonetheless

The first time I stayed in this hotel was in 1979 as YongPyong was the only ski resort in Korea. Now there are many, but the location being further up north than most, it snows early and more in YongPyong. So after almost 40 years, I am back at YongPyong Resort Dragon Valley Hotel with my family. I have been to the ski resort many times throughout the years but did not stay at this hotel until two weeks ago. The hotel went through a renovation and expanded - as the Winter Olympic is scheduled, this is no surprise. The room was very clean, nice brand of amenities, and spacious. The only complaint I had was the thermostat that only works for bringing the temperature up - it won't go down. However, with the windows open a little, it worked out OK. Korea mostly uses heated floor, which was the case at the hotel. It was especially nice because it went down to -19c while we were there although the room was a bit too warm for us. If you are sensitive to dry room, you can wet a bath towel and spread it on the floor at night or some small hand washed clothing. The staffs are incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional. This extends to those at the ski lodge and the instructors. The room service food, considering the price, can do better. However, there are many restaurants inside the resort to satisfy your gastronomical needs, and they are listed in one the pamphlets in the hotel room. You can have a decent meal with less than U$10. YongPyong area is famous for pan-fried marinated pork belly with squid - worth a try. The hotel is the most convenient place to stay for skiing - closest to the ski lodge and slopes. It is close enough that you can wear your ski boots from the hotel lobby to the ski lodge to get various tickets and off you go which may be difficult to do if you are staying elsewhere in the resort - condos, youth hostels, etc. Finally, there is a big sauna and public bath for men and women (separate) on the lobby floor that opens from 6am till 10pm. After skiing in the cold, hitting the sauna or one of the various hot tubs is simply wonderful. Enjoy~

Nice Resort Hotel

The room is nice, clean, and spacious. We had a good view of the ski slopes. There was only one elevator which was small and will take a long time if there was a crowd waiting to take it. There's a convenient store located in the hotel. My kids loved the fire place at the lobby. This is the hotel where they film the 'Winter Sonata'.

Resort

Great resort for ski and leisure vacations. Many places of attractions to visit include saimdang historical sites, theme park, arcade and restaurants. Public transports by bus very convenient from seoul city to pyeongchang and lots of inter city buses. Taxi will be the option. By March 2018 the ktx train services will be in operation. Will visit with my family again soon.

2017-04-20 18:12:24

Very clean, but very boring hotel

The stay was in the off season, not during wintertime. The rooms were clean and had a really good shower. The staff do not speak much English. The food is good. Takes orotund 50 minutes driving to the Olympic arenas for hockey. It is very close to the alpine activities.

Bestet Bett ever!

2017-04-02 08:08:15

Nice place to stay after skiing!

We took direct bus from ICN airport to dragon valley hotel. About 3 1 / 2 hrs travel time. Reached hotel by 11am and reception allow us to early checkin as the room is ready. You can see the slopes from the room (we got 215 room). Food center and ticketing booth, skingear rental is just 3mins walk from the hotel. Room is quiet big for 2. We had double size bed.

2017-03-13 03:33:08

2017-03-07 06:29:24

location is the winner

We stayed at Dragon Valley hotel for one week and loved the location to the mountain, the ticket office and ski lifts. The hotel rooms are spacious and well heated with floor hearing. The only issue with all the hard floors, the sound of furniture being dragged across those hard floors tended to carry and we were awoken several times by the scraping of furniture. Pads fitted to the bottom of the chairs would be the easiest solution to resolve the issue or pack ear plugs. The rooms are not plush but are very, very adequate. Breakfasts are good and selection is terrific. Beds are very comfortable and the housekeeping staff were excellent. For people skiing, the purchase of Yong Pyong gifts cards at the hotel enable you to make huge savings on the purchase of ski rental and ski lift passes. Up to 30% on some prices, so well worth looking at and going through that exercise. It's a bit hard to get your head around, but the resort does love a voucher, a ticket or a pass. Dining in Yong Pyong can be challenging with a tendency for cafeteria style dining for lunch and dinner. There are cheap eats around and it's quick service and you are in and out. Probably what you want after a long day on the slopes. We dined at the hotel for one dinner and it was a buffet metal on the Sunday night and it was okay. Choice is very limited at the moment. The Purple Bus shuttle from the airport to the resort was extraordinary and we were very impressed with the service. Costing @ AUD 40.00 each way was great value for a comfortable, but long bus ride from Incheon Airport, Seoul to Yong Pyong. If you are not a skier, or you wish to take a day off from skiing, there were no side trips that you could do with a tour company. If you are prepared to catch the public buses you can travel to some historic sites around 50 kms away on the coast. We did not attempt this exercise in the end and just kept skiing. There are 5 or 6 ski shops but they all sell the same thing and there is very little, if any, difference in the product they offer. I think this is an area that will improve with the Olympics being held there in Feb 2018 and there is a lot of building going on to house the events etc. They may even build a few more shops that have some variety of goods. The location of the hotel is the clear winner here and obviously the snow!

Conveniently located in Comprehensive Ski Resort

Although the hotel is old everything in our spacious Family Deluxe Room is in good working condition. It has everything we need, including a kettle and some tea bags (no coffee). All the staff are friendly, helpful and speaks English. Everything is close by : the ski slopes, ski rental shops, gondola station, food outlets (Western, Korean, Chinese, Japanese) Prices of food are also reasonable (from KRW 8 000). Even the prices of snacks in the convenience store are the same as those in Seoul !

Newly Renovated Good Size Rooms in a comprehensive ski resort

We stayed at the Dragon Valley Hotel in the Main building for three nights. The lobby has a big fireplace near the lounge area, gave us a warm feeling of a ski resort when we arrived. The rooms are on two levels, they were good size and nicely renovated. The staff spoke reasonably good English, they were friendly and helpful. The ski lifts are just a few mins walk from the hotel, which we liked most. The resort have good selection of restaurants both within the hotel or nearby facility, but not much of entertainment, night life or Apres-Ski atmosphere. There are a few shops at the hotel and the ski-house that sells ski-gear and ski-wear as well. About the skiing, there are a good variety of ski courses for all levels. The ski runs were well maintained, and the service from the staff were kind and attentive! Although the snow was a bit hard on some runs, typical of conditions of Korea, but overall a pleasant skiing experience. Overall we had enjoy a nice stay and good skiing. The trip was good value and worthwhile for us.

Huge room

First time sleeping on the ground like a typical Korean. The ground was nice and warm even though it felt quite hard. The room that we stay in, was huge, as there was an upgrade. The only bad point was that the power sockets in the room was faulty, therefore I have to use the power sockets in the living instead which was a little inconvenient

2017-02-13 22:46:25

Dirty, only good for ski

I got rash and allergy all over my arms, forearms, thigh and legs immediately on the second day morning. The only way to " cool down " the room is to open a window, which, to me, didn't help much. The resturants are so-so, maybe because it's build for skiing only, food is not their piority. Oh and bring your own amentity kits.

Honeymoon @ Yong Pyong Ski Resort

We got a room with mini Kitchen. The balcony faces the hill and it looks gorgeous. Towels are quite small and not sure whether it is used as floor mats. Unhygienic. Power points seem to be under TV console so have to lie low to reach them. There are convenience store and eateries. If you like spa, you may go to the other side of the resort. There are 3 ski levels. Amateur, Intermediate, Expert. You may take the cable car (about KW$10, 000) up to take photos but depending on wind conditions. For skiing, you may take the sky luge up. It cost about KW$45, 000.

Great stay!

As mentioned by many, the hotel is conveniently located next to the ski facilities. We could see it from our room with snows falling outside our windows. Room is spacious and clean. Even the floor is heated. Would definitely come back again for our next stay.

Had a wonderful view of the ski slopes!

Rooms were small and the designed made me feel a little claustrophobic. Hotel was ageing. Bathroom had an auto bidet which is great. Staff not so friendly. Breakfast selection was poor. The view and the cleanliness made up for the negatives.

Lovely rooms with view of ski slope

Some of the rooms were able to see the ski slope. Hence one of the activity you could do was skiing. Can take up to half a day especially for beginners. There was an instructor who could teach you the basics. Room is nicely heated. Towels provided.

Beautiful Ski Resort

Enjoyed a 2-night stay with the family. A beautiful ski resort that's really clean and well-taken care of. Was given a room with a queen-sized bed overlooking the ski slope. Quite glad that we were given the western room and not the rooms with the tatami-like bed. Not really used to sleeping on the floor. Our room had nice warm floors. Just appropriate for the cold winter season with temperature going as low as -17 Deg Celsius. Staff of the hotel was professionally polite but could improve by being a little bit warm and welcoming. Language was not a problem cos the Korean staff could converse in English quite well. I guess they are quite ready as hosts of the coming Winter Olympics. Housekeeping staff was quick with our request for extra towels. Thumbs up for that! A convenience store is located near the hotel lobby. Hence it was really convenient. :) Didn't get to taste the food at the restaurant as they don't serve halal food. The only time we ate at the hotel was the first breakfast. The only near-halal food was the hard-boiled eggs, croissants and bread. So we skipped breakfast in the hotel on the second day. Hotel was a ski resort. Hence, we were quite glad that the ski slope was just outside the hotel. Should never miss the skiing! Really a wonderful experience for our family who has never done it before. And don't miss going to the Dragon's Peak. About 20 minutes away from the hotel via the gondola (which is actually like the cable car we have at Sentosa Island but a billion times awesome!) !!! Could only withstand the freezing cold peak just enough to take our photos before rushing in for hot chocolate. They have a cafe at the peak. And don't miss trying out the warm churros up there! And yes, just to add for Muslim travelers at the resort. They have a small kiosk serving Turkish kebab at the foot of the hill which is just next to the hotel. The kebab's awesome!!! I will post some pics of the kiosk!

Nice skiing resort!!

It is a very nice place for skiing! There are restaurants, convenient stores and hotels in the skiing resort. I really enjoy skiing during weekdays but it is too crowded on weedend.

2014-05-27 10:24:19

Very nice off season visit

It's spring with fresh air and nice green scenery. Not crowded but still filled with local and foreign tourists, including local school trippers. Many activities to spent a good weekend here. Room was not expensive since it's off season, but food and other things were higher priced. The hotel is right at the entrance to the skiing field, or rather, the field is just behind the hotel once you cross a small river, all in 1min. No snow but a section of the lifts were operating so you can visit the top a good view. There are many horses and sheep on the slopes to play with too. Walk 5min along the river to the tall Tower Condo just next to the skiing field, and there are fast food, cafe, restaurants, bowling lanes, pub and a super mart on the ground floor and basement of the condo. The super mart is 4-5 times bigger then the convenient store in Dragon Valley Hotel! Continue another 5min walk from the Tower Condo across the car park will bring you to the hot spring theme park Peak Island. You can easily spent a day enjoying the indoor and outdoor water theme park! There is also a beautiful golf course, tee-off at the same place. We had a renovated std double room on the 2nd flr of the Main building directly above the front desk, with free and strong wifi. Comfortable for a good night rest except we were woken by vehicle noises in the morning since the room were facing the hotel entrance / car park, not the river / skiing field. No aircon but it's cool to open the windows with wire mesh blocking insects from entering the room. Other than clean towels, the bathroom is totally bare with no toiletries. We called and house keeping helpfully brought body foam, shampoo and conditioner. 2 bottles of water were provided and if you need more, a flask is available for you to refill from the water station on every floor, both hot and cold available. Around the hotel and condo, there are some outdoor and indoor seats available and groups gathered to chat and drink at night. Guess it is nice only if it is off season and not crowded, else will be noisy. Breakfast is served in the restaurant just opposite the hotel entrance. Not a lot of selections but they were delicious, fresh and substantial. Very enjoyable stay after-all :)

Beautiful rooms at a fantastic resort

I think some people get mixed up when reviewing the accommodation options at YongPyong Ski Resort - there are quite a few. Dragon Valley Hotel is the white building with red roof, the part we stayed in was only 2 levels high. I have read reviews that say the rooms are run down but this is definitely not the case where we stayed. The rooms were beautiful with timber floors with under floor heating, massive windows with views out to the slopes, excellent free wifi, rain shower, heaps of storage, etc - see my photos. The heating is centrally controlled and was a little cool for us (coming from a Queensland summer) but the reception was able to have the temperate raised a degree or 2 for us which was just enough. We were a family 4 - 2 adults and 2 children. Dragon Valley Hotel has a maximum of 3 people as only a double bed and single bed will fit in the rooms. We booked this for the 4 of us knowing the kids would top and tail in the single bed. We did this thinking that Dragon Valley Hotel was the closest to the slopes, but really a lot of the other accommodation is just as close. I would probably book at Greenpia if we came back again (only downside is the ondol rooms at Greenpia). One of the nice surprises was the international power points on the main desk. The free ski storage is also a bonus. We were at the far end of the Hotel (away from reception) and we had great wi-fi. We often had 4 devices going at once streaming video etc. with no issues. And the 'Guest Room Control System' beside the bed that allowed you to turn lights on and off and listen to the different music stations was a novelty. My only criticisms of the Dragon Valley Hotel is that they didn't provide shampoo / condition but they did provide some face creams. We usually just use what the hotel provides so had to go buy our own at the convenience store at the resort. And also there is nowhere to do laundry other than through room service at 3, 000-5, 000 won per piece. We were skiing for 6 days but only bought 3 pairs of base layers each. I couldn't find a laundromat anywhere within the resort and even a free shuttle bus trip to the local town didn't turn up anything. Speaking with some of the Koreans there it seems that people don't often go to Yongpyong for more than a couple of days at a time seeing it is so close to Seoul. My son was injured whilst skiing and the Hotel staff were amazing. They had the resort Doctor come to our room and check him and then arranged for him to be transported by resort ambulance to the nearest University Hospital (English speaking) 40 minutes away. They didn't even charge us for the Dr or ambulance. I won't add any specific comments about the resort here - I will put that under YongPyong Resort.

learn to ski on a budget

visited in 1st week of mar13, stayed for 3D2N over the weekend.comfortable place to stay and located right next to the slopes. had a nice view of the slopes. was noisy on sunday night as the snow machines were running. breakfast at hotel was expensive, better options available at the restaurants located in the tower condo. as the slopes were closed on sunday evening, all the restaurants closed by 8PM. ended-up having dinner at the bar inside tower condo which had limited options and was quite expensive.

Good for a nice winter experiences

Had a mix feeling staying at this hotel. The hotel first impression is very nice, lobby restaurant like a typical resort reaching the room is a different matter as room decor is outdated not my usual liking. The skiing slope is right outside the hotel and there are many food choices in ski house or the tower 1. Breakfast is at chalet cafe, we got menu breakfast irst day, second day buffet breakfast. We are lucky to get heavy snow fall @dec14 and things started to turn white, moods changed to excitement and really magical. Besides skiing u can go for tube slide, rent a sledge to slide down the slope. Taking the gondola cable ride is enjoyable Return Bus meeting point is at tower 1, We took the purple bus; 4buses departing at 1pm and 5pm. Be there early as there is no reservation; people just hop to the bus and paid and I think we are luckily to the the last 6 on the bus. Travel time was faster than I thought, less than 2:30hours journey to Jamsil station

Decent hotel, very well located

We stayed here over the weekend, the hotel is clean, provides free internet, is located at the foot of the slopes and you get 30% of ski pass and gear rental by staying here.

Must read

There are at least two towers -- main and annex. As a clueless foreigner I was put on the 7th floor of the ANNEX. The ANNEX is as described by the many reviewers -- dirty carpeting, flying bugs (no joke i have pictures of three quarter sized flying bugs i swatted), antiquated mechanical keys and lighting fixtures, no noise reduction, unusable wifi, all vinyl bathroom, smells. And as another reviewer mentioned, the room cannot be cooled lower than 28 degrees. The ANNEX is about 2.5 stars, and hotels.com reflects this. The MAIN tower, however, is a solid 3 to 4 stars. The rooms are smaller, but seemingly brand new -- card keys, modern lighting, pergo floors, usable wifi, clean. Flat screen tv spotless LG. Noise reduction not great, but at 100-140$ not a bad value, particularly when you throw in the 30% off lift and rentals. DO NOT BE A VICTIM. INSIST ON THE MAIN TOWER. Thank you.

Lucky to stay in a renovated room overlooking the ski slopes

The 4th day (and 3rd hotel) of my 8 day tour of South Korea from 10 - 17 Dec 2013. Don't know the pricing as it was part of a tour package. We were told that some in the group would be staying at the renovated wing of the hotel so everyone was crossing their fingers to be selected. We got lucky. It was a room with a view of the ski slopes. The room was a T-shape and everything was very new. Again, there were no toiletries and also very weak WIFI. But it was a good sleep and if you were bored, just look at the people skiiing late into the night. There were many shops and commercialised food available at its door steps so feel free to walk around if skiing is not your thing.

Snow was excellent, hotel was just average

Travelling with my 4 y. o. twins and wife to Seoul, arriving downtown at around 9pm-ish. Found out we missed shuttle bus to the resort (was -5C and worst of all, no one speaks English on the streets), luckily we found a cab that agrees to take us there. 200km+ took 2.5 hours and $250USD. Upon arrival of the resort at 1am, no bell boy or anyone offer help to carry our luggage to the room. Room temp was set at 23C but still super hot (with their heater tube build under the wooden floor), need to open windows to sleep (outside is -12C). Room was built in with those with kitchenette, ventilation was not good, can smell food cooking from other rooms almost 24 / 7. Ski for 3 days with kids bascailly just playing snow, lucky they have the kid's slide using car's inner tube, that spent a day. The Gondolla ride to the top was fun also. Try all the restaurants within the resort. (Only 4 decent ones available) On the way back, we took resorts shuttle bus, arrived Incheon in 3.5 hours. Will go again when the kids can really learn to ski and will opt for better rooms.

A good place to stay for skii but don't expect 5 stars

Basically this hotel is overpriced in terms of their rooms' quality but it's situated in a ski resort so expect the price to pay. But do take note that it does not prove to it's standard stated in their website as a highly rated hotel. Seems to me, they just use their reputation that Winter Sonata was filmed there to promote the hotel and for their proximity to access the ski which was just outside the hotel. Going there was abit tricky since I was on my own. I travelled from Gangeung to Hoenggye. It was mentioned that Hoenggye have the free shuttle bus right to the doorstep of the ski resort. But there was no proper bus stop. I asked a local and he mentioned that there isn't any signage, just need to stand at this specific pole with a banner (??). So while there, look for the locals to advise you. The bus is easy to spot as it was the most colorful bus moving up the main street. Hotel reception was friendly and welcoming. Looks grand and free internet wi-fi available at the lobby lounge. There is also a convenient mart located in the same building area so snacks are available at a cheaper price. Room wise was freakish. Though clean, everything looks old. The repairman came shortly after we entered our room and told us the safe in our unit was defective, so he proposed to change another one. He carried the safe out and replaced a smaller one. (If the safe is mobile & can be carried easily by a person, where's the security?) Anyway, the replaced safe was not functioning as well. My room was on the 2nd flr and since it was winter time (peak season), it was very crowded and rooms were not very soundproof to the noise at the corridor. People walking with their ski boots could be heard clearly with door shut. Since the ski is open 24hrs, expect people moving around all night long. I tried the hotel's Korean restaurant. They seems to serve food according to season so our dinner was their set recommendation. Nothing fantastically delicious. I would think the western restaurant / Fastfood chain Lotte at the entrance were more value for $. They gave us the dinning table of the 'Winter Sonata seat' because no one was there. It was nothing, just a good view of the ski area outside. Afraid to say, it's the only hotel there unless you choose to stay in apartment / condos or you just make it a day trip to the resort. It's the price you have to pay cos' ski resorts don't come cheap. Stay there only if skiing is what you want.

Poor, dirty and outdated resort

Was shocked when I stepped into the room. Old facilities, dirty carpet, ugly bathroom. Can say it was a WORST resort I ever stayed in my life. The only good is the location, less than 5mims walking distance can go to ski.

2013-07-01 06:37:38

Old place, good location

Dragon Valley probably has been a fantastic place a long time ago, now it is mostly acceptable and just OK. The rooms are worn out, but clean and fine. They are quite spacious, especially when we bought and upgrade. Even the upgraded room is very old, it's just more spacious... The breakfast was very good, but the selection isn't very wide. For me it was very good, I really wouldn't need anything else than an omelet, bread, coffee, and orange juice.. The location is pretty close to the skiing lifts, and all in all, a central place.

2013-02-16 00:53:05

Rooms are not worth the value but good for ski in ski out

We arrived incheon at 6.30am and knew we would be able to catch the 9.30am bus to Yongpyong, but it turned out there were only 3 seats left. Our family of 5 weren't able to go. The next bus would leave in the afternoon which we would miss the entire day. Luckily the very nice Korean flight attendant from Thai Airways went out of her way and time to help us find transportation. It was difficult with communication with the person at the 'transportation' desk. Anyway, We took the (1+ hour) local bus to Seoul, change bus there (2.45hours), and change to a shuttle before arriving at our hotel. Just to get there was exhausting. The room, like other reviewers, is outdated. The carpet is very old. Looks like a motel room, definitely not worth the price I paid. Breakfast was not included in the price but it was very very good. The good part is the location of the hotel allowed us to ski in ski out day and night. It's just a quick walk to the next building. My children loved it. The slopes are closed from 4.30pm-6.30pm so we were able to come back for a rest before going out for night ski. If you don't speak Korean then it's a given you take the private lesson, which is quite pricey, but my children were able to ski after 1 hour so no complaints about that. On the return to the airport, we didn't want to go through the trouble of waiting for the bus and not knowing if we would be able to get on, we asked the hotel to book us a taxi. It was 350, 000 won to ICN, expensive but convenient and no hassle. Overall, I wouldn't go back to Yongpyong. I would find some place closer to Seoul or prefer to go to Japan.

Ski in ski out hotel at Yong Pyong

Reasonable hotel in Korea's premier ski resort. Beds are comfortable, bathroom clean. Breakfast is buffet style and has a good choice, cost is 25000 Won if not included in your room rate (Feb 2013). Staff very friendly. The ski lifts are just outside the hotel, along with the usual range of rental and sports shops. Coffee shops and eateries all around, most are Korean, but there is a couple places selling pizza and pasta, some Japanese options and a Chinese Restaurant. The Korean Spa attached to the hotel is also very good to warm up and relax after a day on the slopes. Make sure you get the discount coupons from the hotel for cheaper rentals, lift pass, spa, and breakfast. No reduction on ski lessons however. Note on arranging ski lessons. We were told that you cannot book in advance. However, some of the instructors accept direct email bookings from previous clients. If you need lessons, I would recommend arranging as soon as you arrive. My friend didn't experience a problem and was able to book lessons during the Lunar Holiday this year.

Convenient & Comfortable

This hotel is located right at the bottom of the ski slopes so couldn't be more handy for skiers. It looks a bit old from the outside but it all renovated inside. The bright reception area welcomes you with a big fireplace and we were greeted by an english speaking receptionist and efficiently checked in and directed to the lift. Downstairs there is a coffee shop serving cakes / desserts and 2 restaurants which face the slopes (one western and a Korean one). The resort also has a spa a many leisure facilities eg; bowling, karaoke rooms, games areas, shopping, water park nearby. The hotels rooms are on 3 floors and have modern and carpeted corridors, which minimises noise. We had a modern tidy room which faced the slopes, of average size (less than 25m2). The bed was comfortable with good bedding and the room had good lighting and some cupboard space to hang clothes. Unusually, I didn't find the room overheated but if it was you could open the window (usual for Korean hotels as you can't adjust the heating). In the room, was a fridge and a kettle and teabags were provided and 2 bottles of water. There was a small flat-screen TV a (have had much larger ones in love motels), with some english channels. the bathroom was compact and they provided soap and shampoo / shower gel, but not a toothbrush. There was a little mould around the bathroom tiles but otherwise the room was spotless. We didn't try the dining venues and they also had a room service menu but it was very pricey. It was very easy to walk to the building next door where there were a number of inexpensive casual eating options. No great cuisine just inexpensive filling food. There is also a convenience store right near the hotel lobby. If you want to ski, the ticket office is just behind the hotel and ski hire in the building next door. Tip for skiers: We found it a bit difficult to find out what discounts were available for skiers. If you have certain Korean credit cards you can get discounts but there is also a resort card you can buy. We found it hard to understand as the was no english brochure but one lady in the ski office was kind enough to try and explain it to us. Anyway it turns out that if you buy a card for W50000 / W100000 / + 2 more options you can use it like a stored value card to pay for ski lifts, rent and food options at the resort. You then get an automatic discount. So for example if the list price of the ski lift session is W74000, with the card you would pay about 40% less and it comes off the value of the card. Definitely worth checking this out. You can buy it at the hotel and ticket office. Skiing was fun and not crowded at this time of year, but there is no apres-ski in Korea. Overall we had a really enjoyable relaxing weekend. The location was bang in the middle of everything and we got convenient parking right out the front. The room was quiet and comfortable, the staff very pleasant and we got a great end of season special. I would say it is a really good 4 star hotel and would recommend it.

Old & out dated

Room old & out dated. Dirty carpets. Very hard beds & I requested a western style bed. No jug in room, needed to walk up the corridor to access hot water from a dispenser. No toiletries at all in room, except small amount of soap. Close to ski slopes. No late night dining or entertainment except strike bowling. Stayed for 8 nights when the special olympics were on & hotel didn't try to make it a comfortable stay at all.

Good Value

I was on a tight budget and went for cheap and cheerful. The hotel represents good value for money on this score (score of hotel). Plenty of choice in the main restaurant, the menu is pretty basic but i certainly had my fill, alongside the standard fare there is a different theme each night to supplement it, i. e. oriental, traditional spanish etc. The pool areas are clean and well presented and there is lots of choice with around 6 different pools to cater for all abilities. As with most places you have to scrap for sun loungers, but thats not unusual. There is loads for children to do, however be warned that there is an extra charge for the rides

Comfortable, nice place

The hotel is clean, nice, with kind staff and places to eat inside. It has the attractions of the resort at the back plus more places to eat. I stayed at the normal deluxe double, the room was clean and charming but there's no room to room service. Nothing bad to say at all, just that there was only one restaurant opened before 11am, and it was the one in the hotel but has a super limited menu for breakfast, later on the day it serves buffet. If you are just going there to sleep, book a cheaper hotel for sure. If you are going for the resort, it is not that great if you ask me, unless you are going with kids cause they would have a blast.

2015-12-27 11:20:08

Traveling back in time

I booked a 3D2N stay through a local tour agency, and wasn't surprised to be assigned a room in the old wing. The lobby of the hotel looked impressive enough, and based on the reviews of the rooms in the newer wing (in the same building where the lobby is), the rooms there appeared alright. But I could not say the same for the rooms in the old wing. They rooms were very dated. It felt like traveling at least 30 years back in time. Rooms were so gloomy, old and dark. I was quite relived to check out and return to modern Seoul.

2013-05-02 04:11:29

Old but there's at least wifi

Went there in summer, so there wasn't any snow. Quite an old place but the wifi in the room was a plus. The place looks very old and rundown, so if you feel that you can't stand staying in an old room, I would recommend that you choose other rooms. You have to get hot water from the cooler outside the rooms and that was kind of troublesome.

Great location for skiers, helpful staff

We decided to spend 3 nights for some skiing and booked a triple room. The hotel was a short 5 minutes walk from the ski shuttle bus stop from Seoul, in fact to the bus stop / station of the ski resort. Unfortunately for us we had to drag our big luggage from the stop to the hotel and wished they could provide a 'golf cart' to meet the bus, just for luggage. We had booked our package from Skimax Australia. It included ski pass and ski hire. The price was very reasonable even when compared to Winterfriend or other Korean tour company. However, the skis and boots were 'standard' and came with rear entry boots. Upgrade was not possible and you would have to pay approx. $60 for a day of premium ski package. We were upgraded to a loft at the main building - there were 2 double beds, a 2 seater sofa, wardrobe as you enter and near the bathroom, a big TV, kettle, big bathroom but no bath tub. Very spacious except we kept knocking our heads where the ceiling slopes down on the first day. The window faces the slope but it was not a full window so you do not get a view unless you specially peer out of the window. The room temperature like all hotels in Korea was very warm and we had to keep the windows slightly open to moderate it. We ate at both the Korean and Western restaurant and it was good. The steak and pasta dishes at the Western restaurant for dinner was very good -tender and juicy. By the way, this was the restaurant where the couple of Winter Sonata ate. They even place a frame photo of the couple in the exact position. Unfortunately, the restaurant that they used for filming the Winter Sonata renovation is now closed but it is open for viewing and you can go in to take photos. The piano is also there and cd of the music used. We also ate at the Tower Condo which had quite a variety of choices with a small supermarket, too. There was also bowling and karaoke? We also had cocktails at the hotel bar, very reasonable prices with a fantastic view of the slopes. There are staff that speaks perfect English but I found that if you are unlucky and approach one that does not, the others will not step forward to assist. I am not sure why, So best approach the one that speaks English and you will be fine - found out a bit late when we were desperately looking for an item unavailable at Yongpyong ski resort and the poor guy had to ask someone to help, his English was almost non existent. The staff were friendly at reception and restaurants but were not your quite 5 star service. It was surprising better service in the Korean than the Western. We had to carry our skis to the concierge desk in the front whilst having to return from the slope from the back / side entrance. You then walk to the lifts where you take off your ski boots and change into the slippers provided to your room. Boots stored in your room. The hotels could learn from Fairmont (and many others) in Whistler and provide a valet service at a certain time. We used to ski down Blackcomb and drop our skis off at the end of the day to the ski valet and it would be stored away. Next day we had to collect it from the ski storage naturally but it was so much more convenient. There is a free shuttle (pink bus) that goes to Hwenggye - this is when we had to look for a micro USB. This bus makes quite a few stops at condos and small towns. It is FREE. We went to one of them (sorry, forgot the town's name) and managed to track down a computer shop that sold it. It was in an obscure location. There are actually hotels that you can stay just a few minutes out of the resort and get on this shuttle bus daily. I think there will be considerable savings but these are small towns, so no posh hotels. We had dinner in town. There were many restaurants for the size and outlook of the town but I figured it must cater for the tourists in the peak seasons as most of the restaurants had no one in them. We were stay from Jan 6th to 9th. The taxi fare is about 10000 won to this town. Taxis are cheap in Korea compared to Australia. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you visit Yongpyong.

Relaxing Stay in Ski Resort

Went there during winter in mid Dec 2014 when temperatures were at minus 10+ degrees. The resort has many facilities and is good for family with kids due to ski, bowling, etc. The double corner suite oom has a corner cozy area which faces a nice view next to the window. We usually dumped all our winter and skii gear down there. Wooden floors in room were heated and it is nice and cozy during the cold nights. Every floor has a water dispenser for hot and cold waters. The best part is the ski facilities is next to the hotel and the ski tower has many cafes and restaurants and next to the gondola station. The ramen restaurant on 2nd floor of skii complex serves delicious ramen pipping hot. Should stay there longer next time and try out the night skii after 9pm.

Comfortable Room, Noisy Corridor and Sub-Par Housekeeping

We had a double bed + single bed, and a traditional Korean mattress. The mattress was rather thin, but sufficient for my kid. The floor was well heated. The room was surprisingly big (we still had slight walking space, even after spreading out the mattress). When we first arrived at our room, we noticed that the hotel has not provided the floor mattress that we requested for. We had to call the reception and request for the mattress, even though the request was clearly stated in our reservation form. The housekeeping staff brought he mattress promptly, but we soon realised they only provided 3 sets of towels. So, we had to make another call for the extra towel. On the 2nd day, after house keeping, they again provided only 3 sets of towels, but this time we decided not to bother requesting for it. Our room was situated near the water station (there are water stations at every floor). It turned out to be both a good and bad thing for us - good because we had easy access to hot water (there is no kettle in the room), bad because people would hang out outside the room and talk way too loudly. For some reason, noise from the corridor travels to our room easily, even when people were standing 4-5 rooms away from us. One thought was, perhaps because this is a ski resort and a lot of families / friends come here in large groups, so they tend to be a bit more noisy. And since this resort offers night skiing, you have guests walking up and down (making a lot of noise) late into the nights. I do wished the hotel would put up some signage to remind the guests to be more mindful of the noise they make though. Location-wise, the hotel is well suited for skiing, as the ski slope is just behind the hotel (our room faces the slope). There is ample storage room for ski equipments (guests are not supposed to bring their ski equipment into the room, nor wear the ski boots in the room wing). One is supposed to change into the hotel provided slippers (positioned near the lift and in your room), and change into the ski boots later (at the lobby / lift or just before you exit the hotel for the ski slope). There is a convenient store within the hotel but not many dining options though. We stayed 2 nights and ate at restaurants in other hotels (the DIY BBQ place opposite the hotel is quite good). Even though the housekeeping staff was very responsive in handling our requests for mattress and towels, we felt that such minor inconvenience could have easily be avoided, if they have been more diligent in the first place. There is definitely room for improvement in this area. We enquired about where we could go for snow sledding, how to buy the snow sled etc, but the front desk personal wasn't very helpful at all, as he could not understand English well.

Conveniently Located

Located the nearest from the ski area. Conveniently sandwich between the Dragon Plaza (which is the ski house for ski rentals and food) and Tower Condominium (more food outlets). Family of four, so we stayed in the Ondol room. Heated floor but mattress is a bit thin. So we used the duvet as an extra layer. Hotel charges for extra pillow if you require them. Housekeeping is ok if you require from them extra towels but out of my one week stay, they did not change the sheets at all. Surprisingly it provided toiletries. Walls are so thin. I can hear the next room laughing. Great bbq beef restaurant there.

Upgraded to a suite

The location is great, it is right by the ski lifts, restaurants and shops. I remember reading on TripAdvisor that the main tower has updated rooms and are preferable to the rooms at the annex tower. I forgot about this when I checked in and they gave us a room at the annex. Fortunately for us though, they upgraded us to a suite (even though we only booked a standard double bed). We ended up having a really spacious living room separate from the bedroom, and couldn't be happier. The view was also good, it overlooked the slopes. Other than the spaciousness, the room was quite ordinary. It was a bit dated, the bed was hard, and the cleanliness was acceptable but I could see crumbs on the carpet. Service was very friendly. WiFi was not all that great. The signal I got from the room was only poor to moderate, and even when the signal was on the better side I could only use the Internet intermittently. I wonder if it has to do with the number of users at the time. I had an enjoyable stay over all, and would only be happier if the room was a bit cleaner.

Best choice at Yongpyeong

Stayed here for the first time, after having been at other resorts on and off the premises (Greenpia, Alpensia). Chose the standard room which had 1 queen bed. Room was fair size, bathroom could have been a bit bigger. It had newer amenities. Room has a mini fridge but would have been nice if they had provided electric kettle to heat up water for tea / coffee / hot cocoa. There was a master controller but no option to change language from Korean to English. We were on the second floor of the tower, facing the slopes- had a great view. It was only a quick 2 minute walk to the slopes, ticket booths. Korean BBQ restaurant right across the lobby was delicious! Other options for Western and Korean food were at the ski lodge area. The staff very helpful, was very proficient in English. Will stay here again!

Winter

My family and I was there from 23-25 Dec. the room is very spacious and clean. We have a 3-bedded room. There are lots of storage. The window oversees a very scenic countryside view. The only thing which I find it puzzling is that the hotel does not provide toothbrush and toothpaste, which I thought that it should be the most basic requirement. We were told that we have to purchase them. Other than that, we are satisfied with our stay there.

Good but not great

+ Huge hotel rooms! Closest to ski slopes - 1 minute walk away. Nice sauna + hot pools - discounted for hotel guests. Complimentary water daily. Hot water dispenser on every floor. Nice view of slopes / car park - on 7th floor. Convenience store on ground floor. - Spotty / slow WIFI - almost non-existent. Weird breakfast policy - a la carte on one day, buffet on another. Few English speaking service staff - tough to communicate.

Spacious room

The first impression of the ski resort is good, but not great. Although the overall building is old, but the management has maintain it well. We stayed in the deluxe room and its very spacious and clean. Since we were visiting during the spring time, the weather is kinda chilly and no air-conditioning needed for the entire day and night. The room is also comes with complimentary wifi and the signal is strong. Our room is not worn out as other reviewers mentioned, or perhaps it's just our luck to have a better room? The bathroom comes with a clean bathtub and the hot shower works perfectly, albeit the water pressure is a little too low, but no issues for us. The breakfast is good, with selections of cereals, bread rolls, choices of fruits and eggs. The restaurant itself was converted from the shooting location of the infamous Korean drama Winter Sonata, and the restaurant ceiling is low and the dining area is not very spacious. Therefore, to avoid the huge crowd and noise, it's better for one to go for breakfast before 8am, where the big tour group of people usually comes in after 8am. The location of the resort is really strategic as the ski field is just behind the hotel. The snow will build up the whole area during winter, and the area will converted into a beautiful golf course during other seasons of the year. There's limited restaurant around the resort area. Nevertheless, there's a convenient shop located next to the hotel lobby. Generally, I enjoyed staying at the resort and will come back again for ski in the future.

Huge room with free wifi

Room is huge and spacious. Beds comfy and clean. Heating system is great. The room doesn't seem as outdated as others have commented. We were delighted when we found out that there is free wi fi in the room! Continental breakfast is delicious although there aren't many choices.

Ask for a room in the newer wing

Stayed for a night in this hotel as part of a group tour. The ski facilities made us forget how old the room was. We were assigned at the old wing and the room really needs a makeover. Other members of our group were in the newer wing and they were all praises for their rooms. Anyway would definitely go back to this place and would request for room in the newer wing.

Bad experience in the hotel

Last week I stayed in this hotel for 1 night and it was terrible. Many of the lights were spoilt and the room have a filthy smell. There were also bugs flying around in the room, not one, not two, but many. There were some cracks on the wall too. Carpeting is also very dirty.

Great facilities, good ski resort but hotel room is old

Pros: 1) Near ski slope 2) many dining choices. Love the twosome cafe and Korean food nearby 3) convenience store on ground level 4) love the cable car ride to the tower. Very beautiful and scenic 5) coach bus available 6) it is cheap when book direct. 7) pay on arrival 8) very warm floor. Don't feel cold in the room at all 9) Staff are very friendly. Cons 1) the room is very old. 2) the toilet is old n flash not very good. It's time to upgrade the hotel rooms.

Affordable rates for a ski resort hotel

Easy accessible to the ski field. Just outside the hotel. Breakfast was good with nice view of snow field. Transport to the resort not direct. Info given by hotel was wrong, we went to a big town that has no shuttle service as mentioned by hotel. The bus returning to Seoul was crowded too. Great hotel for a ski trip. Furniture was old but still acceptable. Burnt cigarette marks besides bedstand. Size of room just nice.

Nothing to wow

Probably the Best thing about the hotel was that it's near the ski slope. The rooms were old and needed done renovation. Several restaurants closes during winter as well. The hotel lobby was posh and well decorated. Ask for discount coupons for the breakfast and gondola rides.

Really near slopes!

Basic but good enough, looks recently refurbished so it's good. Really near slopes and transport out of yongpyong. Best location anyone can hope for. Especially if you have your ski gear with you. Clean rooms. Big tv. With a nice view to boot too if you are staying in the rooms facing the slope

new rooms

Room are new and fantastic, No complaints at all. Hotel is nice. food is expensive in hotel. but other options are available nearby. ski bus is good except not helpful at loading the baggage. Skiing is good too, sled park is nice. nice mountain, but japan will have bigger mountains.

Prepare to be Disappointed!!

While the hotel was acceptable I thought bang-for-buck it really doesn't compare to Japan. Snow quality wasn't great (but that varies year to year), runs were limited and the service and food options were pretty poor at this place. Most people were buying food at the convenience store as the options are horrible - which is a shame because I really like Korean food. I guess they won't allow competition to ruin a few restaurant's monopoly... one Korean BBQ charged us a " seating fee " of $20 per person when it was empty! Anyway, I think there are better skiing / boarding options in Asia.
