Beautiful campus area
Main buildings are designed by Alvar Aalto. The oldest buildings are from late 19th century. Beautiful gardening. A real campus area, rare in Finland. Beautiful especially during the autumn with all the colours of the trees and plants.

The second largest university in Finland
Jyväskylä University has its origins in the first Finnish-speaking Teacher Seminary, which was founded in 1863. There are three campuses: the Main Campus area in the city center as well as Mattilanniemi and Ylistönrinne Campuses on opposite shores of Lake Jyväsjärvi. Several buildings in the main campus area were designed by famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. The university has 15, 000 students and if counting the adult education students, 40, 000 students in total. The university offers a wide range of study programs. Natural Sciences, Human Sciences, Sports and Health Sciences, as well as Teacher education, are the university's areas of special expertise. For a tourist, there is a University Museum, founded in 1900. It has two sections: The Cultural History Section and The Natural History Museum. The latter one is located under the Vesilinna water tower.

Don't miss the main building with the Aalto library which have been recently renovated with much respect to the original appearance. Free guidebooks are available and most parts are open to the public.

I dined in the campus cafeteria located in Agora Building. The price is reasonable. I also got to try some Finnish food. Nice!
Precioso campus con edificios de Aalto
En medio de un parque con bosque natural unos edificios preciosos, tanto los antiguos como los diseñados por Aalto. Gente haciendo deporte, con niños, ambiente para disfrutar. Un agradable paseo que para amantes de la arquitectura se torna imprescindible en la ciudad. Me siguen maravillado las obras de Aalto por mantener vigencia con su diseño atemporal y por su inserción en el ambiente que le rodea.

Luontoon sovitettua arkkitehtuuria
Useamman aikakauden kerrostumana Seminaarinmäen kampus muodostaa hienon kokonaisuuden. Helmenä kampuksen kentän ympärille maastonmukaisesti sijoitellut Alvar Aallon työt päärakennuksesta Philologicaan ja liikunnan rakennukseen. Upea maisema vanhojen rakennusten katveesta, mäen huipulta päärakennuksen matalamman osan yli lounaan suuntaan.

도서관 이용
빌리고 싶은 책이 있어서 도서관에 문의했더니 여권만 있으면 도서관 카드를 만들 수 있었어요~! 번호표를 뽑고 기다리면 직원이 카드를 바로 만들어 주는데 필요한 책의 위치와 가는 방법까지 친절하게 알려 주셔서 금방 찾았고 28일동안 빌릴 수 있었어요. 처음 핀란드 대학교 도서관에서 책을 빌려 보는데 그 편리한 절차에 놀랐네요. 정말 좋은 경험이었어요~!

Alvar Aalto interesting spots
The Capitolium is the central building of the University Campus. Have a look at the spaces hosting the cafeteria, the classrooms windows (in particular top floor ones) and the ceilings.
