Dirty Smelly
The linen bed sheets towels all had stains and were smelly. Dont even think of coming here, you're sure to fall sick. I have fever while I'm writing this review. You won't be able to get a night's sleep here. Everything about this place was dirty and smelly, insects were plenty in our bathroom.
Good location but poor maintenance
This was our first trip to Kolkata and we stayed in the tangerine guest house for three nights. We were visiting to attend a wedding and the guests were put up at this guest house. We reached the guest house at 5am in the morning and were immediately helped to our rooms. The pluses first - the guest house has a great location at close proximity to the city and several small shopping locations. There is also a small and convenient hall, in case you require to host events in a smaller scale. The employees in the guest house are warm, which i realise is how most people in Kolkata are! The negatives - Like most of the other reviews have rightly pointed out, the linen, the towels are dirty and stained and really need to be replaced. We specifically asked for cleaner and nicer towels and yet again we were given the same towels. The room service is very poor. No cleaning of rooms in all the three nights that we stayed there and even after asking for cleaning and being promised immediate attention, after hours of waiting, noone turned up. The rooms are dusty and the AC's do not help. The guest house said they have a buffet breakfast and when we reached there, the buffet comprised of only pav bhaji! Having said that, the food tasted good, so that was a relief. The hotel is located at a very convenient location and the rooms are not bad either. It is a pity that the maintenance is so poor otherwise it would have been a really good stay.
Not value for money!
The location is great but the service is average. Sheets and towels were not clean. Food is average and the menu is limited. Breakfast hardly has any options plus there was no provision to keep the food warm. Overall not a great or comfortable stay. The only reason I stayed here was coz of the location of the guest house. And the manager of the guest house needs to be on his toes.
Stay at Tangerine
The guest house is damn good but service is very poor. The timing laid down for Breakfast is 0800 to 1000 hours o'clock. On Sun don't expect any service before 9 o'clock and the General Manager can't do anything. First night the linen was smelling and pillow had food stains.
My experience
Rooms are not very spacious. Towel and Bed sheet are worn out. Washroom is not well maintained. This guest house has kitchen but some dishes are out sourced. quality of food is good. WiFi is available.
Highly recommended stay wIth OYO
Booked this premium property through android app and got a pocket friendly deal. The location is good, easy to locate and commute. The staffs are very warm and hospitable. They also have a small restaurant to serve breakfast and other meals. The WiFi speed was good, so was the rooms. Service was also upto the mark.
Would recommend. Good exp with oyo
The hotel is a Premium category one and was offered at a decent rate while booked through app. The reception staffs were very decent and welcoming. The room 102 was allocated for my stay which has a good Wifi connectivity too as I asked for a room with that feature. The room was serviced regularly and breakfast was served in time. The washroom was also very hygienic and clean. So overall a great first time experience with Oyo
Good location and great service
The rooms are very good, with balcony and clean, hygienic washrooms. The service staffs used to clean my room regularly throughout my stay. The reception staff was very hospitable and used to greet warmly whenever I used to see him. The location is also good of this hotel, and the rate at which I got the hotel through Oyo was an absolute value for money.
Good Oyo experience in Kolkata
The hotel is centrally located, in main road with good connectivity to public transport and private cabs round the clock. Also, the staffs are highly professional, helpful and the service is prompt. The rooms are clean, spacious and washrooms are hygienic. But they serve only veg food. The WiFi speed was also good and the breakfast was qualitatively and quantitatively enough for single person.
Nice hospitality and standardisation with Oyo rooms!
It was out first visit to Kolkata, and me and my friend booked this hotel through android app, after reaching the hotel, as we were informed Oyo offers a decent rate. The rooms in this hotel were good, pretty classy reception, nice hospitable staff and Boutique toiletries kit, has overall enhanced the experience. Also, the complementary breakfast and WiFi was an add on. Great stay!

Nice hospitality, value for money
The hotel was booked by my friend who has stayed here before and her experience was good. Being a single lady traveller, safety and privacy is what we look for, and i got that in this hotel. The rooms and washrooms are pretty hygienic and clean. The oyo toiletries are also of good quality. The service staffs were professional and never let me feel uncomfortable. So overall, a good experience.

Booked for my official purpose, as it is located in close proximity to my workplace, and also has good access to transport. The rooms are nice, comfortable bed, hygienic washrooms. The breakfast was always served on time before me leaving for work. So, overall a nice stay
A nice hotel in the heart of Alipore!
The hotel is located in a good location, with good options to commute to my workplace in public, and private transport. The rooms are pretty spacious, specially the ones on first floor. The service was a bit delayed, but staffs were very decent, hospitable. The regular cleaning of washrooms and rooms made me feel like a home away from home experience. The complementary breakfast was also quite fresh and delicious. So overall a good experience with oyo!
Good booking experience and hassle free stay!!
The hotel is pretty decent with good connectivity to public and other means of transportation. The rooms were pretty spacious and washrooms were clean and hygienic. The complementary breakfast was also good enough for 2 people. Apart from that, oyo representative Soumyajit met us and made our experience better.

The hotel was located in the central road of Alipore. The rooms were spacious, staffs were good and hospitable. The washrooms were clean and Ac, WiFi was working fine. So overall had a nice stay. The complementary breakfast was fresh and quantity was okay.
A classy hotel at an affordable rate for Corporates, absolute hassle free comfortable stays
Since our company is in s corporate tie up with Oyo, so whenever in travel to Kolkata for my work, I check in into this hotel. Located at a central position in south Kolkata with good communication to public and private transport, as well as highly professional staffs, I think I've become a loyal guest in this hotel. The service guys are also very provocative and regularly cleans the room and washroom and this maintains the cleanliness and hygiene. The breakfast offered is also good. So highly rated stay!!
Classy hospitality yet so affordable, and location is also good
I've used Oyo rooms before too during my travel to other parts of India as they always provide value for money stays with add ons like complementary breakfast, WiFi and clean and hygienic rooms. The same was the experience in this hotel. The room was serviced regularly, the washrooms were clean, the AC was working fine, staffs are also good. They proactively used to clean my room and served my meals without much delay. Location is also good. So great Oyo experience!!
Overall satisfactory stay off not great, but proved to be a value for money stay
I checked in to this hotel on my official trip to Kolkata for business purpose. So was looking for a hotel that provides good service, clean room and hygienic washrooms. This hotel has honestly, served all these needs, and the room provided was clean, soft bed, a coffee table and good WiFi speed. The service guys used to promptly ask for room service, whenever I used to leave from the property so that in the evening on my return I can get a clean room. The complementary breakfast was an add on to the overall experience. So will recommend this hotel to all my contacts.
Good hotel for corporate, nice location and value for money stays!!
We being from corporate sector prefer a hotel that delivers good service and a room with amenities like wifi to carry out our work and Ac, TV to provide some sort of relaxation after coming back from a tiring day. This hotel serves all our purpose by providing those amenities. The rooms are pretty well maintained, the cleaning and hygiene are just up to the mark. The washrooms are pretty hygienic and the staffs regularly refill the toiletries. We also got the breakfast regularly on time and had good options too ranging from Sandwiches to Indian food. The location is quite convenient to book a cab and pick you up from doorstep. So overall must say the stay was worth value for money!
Value for money stays once again with Oyo, quite satisfied with the Hotel & services!
I wasn't very sure of booking this hotel as the reviews were not very good. But since we were looking for a premium property around Alipore and this one fitted our budget, so we thought of booking this hotel. When we reached the hotel, we could feel that the location was nice and easily accessible from taxi, auto, and private cabs. The staffs were nice and humble, and also changed our room on request and provided us a bigger room. Everything in the room was nice, AC, TV, Geyser... etc. The new Oyo kit was an add on to it! :) The nearby food joint Gupta Brothers, offers nice and delicious snacks. The complimentary breakfast was sufficient to fill your tummy! So overall had a nice time in the hotel!

I booked this hotel after getting recommendation from my distant relatives who stays in Kolkata, as I had to check in with my family for a family function. Choose to book it through Oyo as the tariff was pocket friendly. The hotel was very easy to locate, and we had a smooth check in into the room. There is also a bank and ATM closely located to it which was very convenient for me to go and take out cash as we don't carry too much of it while traveling. The room that was provides was very spacious, beds were having soft mattresses, linens were spotless and washroom was very hygienic. The room was also having a view of the backside of hotel, away from the main road which was pleasant to view by evening. Though there were not too many staffs, but the service was good. The lobby is also spacious and allows visitors to meet. So overall had a nice experience with Oyo in Kolkata in this hotel.
Good Location, Scope for improvement
Have stayed twice in the place. The location is excellent and there is lot of explore nearby if you are a foodie. The food and service in the hotel is average. Rooms are just ok in terms of space and comfort.
An eye opener
Actually when I found that all the luxury hotels in kolkata were totally sold out, I had to resort to OYO to book a room. Having booked the room, oyo made things extremely difficult by cancelling the reservation on their own. But I contacted Tangerine Guest house directly and they said they have no problem. thanks to Tangerine, we had a pretty decent stay at kolkata, but I realised that oyo cannot be depended upon. Tangerine is a budget hotel but we were prepared for that and the overall experience was quite pleasant.
Avoid if you can.
Great things: oGreat location oUnobtrusive and the right size property - not too small and yet not too large oGreat terrace garden - beautifully maintained oThey helped with the cab - for going out of town and for going back to the railway station Other observations: -First time - gave a room with no space… we were to be three people. We had informed beforehand and they readily told us that they will give us a good room. -The first room was on the 2nd floor - not a good choice as there is no view either on this floor. -Food - issues. They don't have a good restaurant. -Overall feel - this hotel isn't professionally run. It's one thing to run banquet halls and quite another to run hotels -There are two managers with the same name. But if you ask them that you have already spoken to that person - they will deny but never inform that you might have spoken to the other person. This leaves a very bad taste - either makes you feel like a liar or makes them look like people with short memory syndrome. And they actually tell you that there are too many people in the hotel and they don't remember individual transactions! How's that for an answer? Got to know of two people with the same name on the last day of our stay! -They don't have adequate supplies of pillows and mattresses. If you ask for more, they don't like it. And the managers are also uniformly rude. -Once we asked for towels and were told that the towels will arrive in the next morning only! -I had an escalation and wanted to meet the proprietor as I wanted to complain about the managers - but was obviously refused access. No phone number or email ID was made available. When I insisted on meeting him personally, I was given a time. He knew I wanted to meet him, but nothing happened! -Good location and a good property. Though maintenance is an issue. oA single room with three bulbs not working. When I asked them to replace the bulbs, they just looked at me as if I said something absurd! And it was never fixed during our 6 day stay. oWhen I asked for a bigger room - I had to participate with the manager to find out which room we could take from their register! They didn't even know when which room will be vacated when! oRooms here have typical dustbins that open when you press down a lever at the bottom. In our room, the lever was replaced with a nail! So beware… if you use your bare foot to open the bin, you might injure yourself! oThe bath is good but for the following issues: There is a drain that is open without a drains cover… small mice climb over from the opening… my son ran back once from the bath when he saw one! And do keep the bath door shut at night - to keep the mice from visiting your room! The geyser is a 15 liter one and heats the water a tad bit slow. The hot water gets exhausted while in the shower. If you are two or more in a room - have a gap between showers else you will not get hot water. -Lack of professionalism showed up right across our long 6 day stay: oIf we asked for our room to be cleaned before we left the room… the typical wait time was always between 1-2 hours. And several days went off when they never turned up. This is the case for a 11 room hotel! oThen one of the same name managers told us - we don't encourage housekeeping work during 11-1230 as that is the check out time and checkin time… we who stay on are second grade citizen! oThey had a party on Saturday - they told us we will not get any room service or housekeeping requirement during the evening. And the evening started at 3pm! oIf you ask for coffee / tea sachets for three people… and pillows and towels… the default is always for two and not three… The morning shift never updates the evening shift of requirements. oOn Saturday, we decided to move out. Three days before our booking ended. They were ok with it! oNever ask for a wakeup call. After you are ready and leaving for your destination, they will still be sleeping! No calls to wake you up. And no apologies either. oNo newspaper at your door. 6 days of no newspaper. oThe only time they call is when you are checking out and how you will pay. They are very diligent on that! oThey have a free Wifi but it stopped working after we complained. They refused to share the new password! oThey mentioned that Oyo expects that we checkout half an hour earlier. I wonder where does this happen. We were a tad bit slow. Not well and getting ready was a chore… was a tough one. Guess they tolerated our delay as we were to pay up finally!
Some things never change
Had rated tangerine restaurant quite some time back and thought of trying once more believing that things change. But once again they proved me wrong.. not to my surprise. Ordered some chicken appetisers and on receiving found half the container to be empty. Called up the person who took the order and he was simply not bothered and was pretty proud of their services and attitude. Well though change is permanent, some things never change. This restaurant is a thumbs down for me... beware folks.
Excellent
So I had to be in Kolkata for 3 nights. Based on tripadvisor reviews and after verifying the hotel (by calling them up over phone), I booked 3 nights in this hotel. Hotel is located on a street connecting two busy roads. So the hotel is well connected, still in quiet locality. Check in was quick and I went to my room. This is a small property with 11 rooms. I went to the room. The rooms are well done, very comfy. Nice 32 inch LED tv, split ac, etc.complimentary wifi in room. The hotel also has in house Chinese restaurant. They have amazing chef. I was able to call him directly and request to prepare food as per my taste. Complimentary breakfast was OK. Aloo paratha was delicious, but we had to wait 4-5 minutes till parathas arrived, one at a time. It could have been better. All in all, this hotel is complete VFM and recommended.
Centrally located and excellent value for the price
I found my stay in Tangerine to be very pleasant. Nice rooms even if they are a little less spacious and attentive staff who gave me excellent service. The guest house itself is centrally located just opposite to ICICI Bank. Free breakfast has very limited options but what was served was good enough. There are too many good eateries near by to try from so just get out for a bite rather than order from hotel.
Best place to stay in New Alipore
I found Tangerine guest house to be a very nice place to stay. Good room, excellent service and staff. the place is centrally located and is close to many eateries. Breakfast served was good but has less options to choose from. I had a good stay in this guest house and was served well by the staff. PS: Skip the hotel food and try the options near by. You'll be more satisfied.
Peaceful and rejuvenating
Nice place.... Nice staff.... Good food... Peaceful location and the place has paintings of kolkatas history. The chinese food. Especially the thai fish is brilliant! The breakfast spread was also paisa wasool

This i a lovely guest house.. i hadcome for a two night stay and was extremely pleased.. brilliant staff, lovely decor and amazing thai food to die for. looking forward to staying here again! two thumbs up!
excellent service
I stayed at this guest house for two nights. the hotel's restaurant service good quality Chinese food. service also excellent. the man name of ghorui he most care fully person. the room was clean everyday and had a comfortable bed. the housekeeping people are very good service and excellent attitude. there are provide great complimentary breakfast in everyday. the most impotent things there are provide very first laundry service.
Worst restaraunt i have eaten food at
The restaraunt of this hotel is ripping off people. The food is exceedingly over priced compared to the quantity given. What's worse is the attitude of people working there. They carry the attitude of celebrities and as if they are doing a favour to their customers. Especially a guy by the name Shahrukh who seems to be least educated and is the most irritating person I have ever met in service industry. Cannot confirm on the quality of stay as i have never put up there.
Decent Enough Place to Stay
First of all, I wasn't in a happy mood once I arrived at the hotel. The address provided was misleading. It says opposite the Samsung Showroom, but the showroom has in fact closed. The hotel was also never directly opposite it, but rather in the close vicinity. It was necessary to stop numerous times and ask for directions, which was frustrating. Especially as many people had no idea about the hotel or where it was located. The room was clean, quiet, spacious enough, attractively decorated, and had a comfortable bed. Staff were polite. The hotel's restaurant serves Chinese food, and it's surprisingly good. Some people may not be pleased with the lack variation in cuisine though, particularly for room service. Drawbacks were that the hot water ran out quickly in the shower and the room had a slight musty smell. Overall, if you want to stay in the New Alipore area, this hotel is one of the best options.
Short Stay At Tangerine Guest House
It was a short Business Trip to kolkata I stayed at this guest house for Two nights. The room provided had bad odor and the walls had moulds and fungus on it. The odor was due to moisture and molds on the wall. There is no doorbell provided outside the room. The bedding also had the same unpleasant smell. Food is not at all great. Breakfast was also not that great. Seemed the staff was doing a kind of favor. Very few items for breakfast were there. Hardly two, three. On the Second day i was offered another room. The second room provided was beautiful but it had clogged drains and dripping ac pipes. For stay it is fine but don't expect good food and variety. This guest house is owned by some Bollywood celeb. Not that great OK types
Excellent for the Price
The guest house is located at New Alipore and is short driving distance to the Park Street and walking distance to Cafe Coffee Day and the various popular sweet shops as well. The overall appearance and feel of the property is neat and clean. If you ditch the lift and take the stairs you can see various framed images of the streets of Kolkata giving you the feel of what the city is all about. The black & white photos are taken at dawn and are very enduring. The rooms are done up in modern decor and has good vibe to it. Only glitch is that the view you will get from your room is of the street below and the buildings across. Tried their Chinese food and it was good. The guest house is well worth the price you pay.
