What a Surprise
I love traveling to Cabo. It's my annual relax and recharge trip. I noticed this restaurant as we walked from our hotel to town. There was no one standing on the street trying to show me the menu, but the chef standing ever so quietly at the entrance waiting for diners to arrive. We decided to stop in and we told ourselves we would have a drink, order and app and just check out the menu. One look at the menu and we decided to stay for dinner. I ordered the lobster dinner which I don't normally do. What I was served were two perfectly prepared lobster tails, mashed potatoes with cheese (yum) and freshly steamed vegetables. The owner does it all from preparing the drinks, taking the orders and then the cooking. Be prepared to sit back with a nice cocktail, watch some 80's music videos and just relax while your dinner is being prepared. You will not be disappointed. I know we weren't and we went there three times this trip. Looking forward to dining there again next year.
Not the location where you would expect such tasty food!
Nikte' is a hidden gem in plain sight. We first stopped to see the powered glider flying out of a landing strip next to the restaurant. So, we decided to try the food while there. We were pleasantly surprised to find that all four of us enjoyed our meals. The location is a bit unusual and since the restaurant is made up of a shipping container with a large attached palapa type awning / sunshade it can cause a person to not take it as a serious eating establishment. But believe me it is well worth the stop. We ended up eating at Nikte' five or six times during our time in Cabo. Actually it was the freshest, tastiest food we ate while in Cabo, and we ate at many different places with a variety of price ranges. Dishes included enchiladas, seafood soup, Rancher steak, shrimp ala diabla, ham and cheese omelette, shrimp omelette, Fish filet, eggs mexican style, and more. Everyone we visited with while there, said their meal was great and the prices better than other locations they had eaten. We ate breakfasts, lunch and dinner there. They serve mixed drinks and beer as well. Most times we ate there, the chef was working alone, so expect to take a leisurely hour or two of relaxing and conversation while he prepares your meal. It will be well worth your wait. He speaks good english. The establishment had been open less than two months when we visited. Everything about the facility was fresh and new. The restrooms were some of the most unique I've seen while traveling Mexico. The separate mens / womens were located in a covered utility trailer which was plumbed appropriately. Also, fresh and new. Good night time lighting was in place. The hand wash was at an outside location. You can Google the restaurant and find some pictures posted by a traveler. Also helps you with finding the location. Mexican style blankets are available to keep warm if the evening dining gets chilly! I cannot say enough about the kind gentleman who is the proprietor. He had a can do attitude, even if the item asked for was not exactly on the menu. All I can say, is " try it ", you will be amazed at the good eats!
