Excellent Gallery
We met the owner-artist and thoroughly enjoyed everything in the shop! We were able to chat with him and watch him with his latest work of art. The shop is a must visit and make a purchase for anyone living in the area. His works of art would go well with the environs.
The White House in Willmington
Beautiful property well kept. Highly recommend! Very close to town. Breakfast was delicious. Beds comfortable and bathrooms immaculate.
the artist is always there, always painting in the back
this is one, talented oil artist, and is glad to shmooze with people browsing about his gallery. Most of his subjects are local outdoor scenes, many are quite breathtaking in their beauty and life-like realism, he has small to large paintings, framed and unframed. You must stop in if uou are in town. Bring money; you'll want to leave w / one of his masterpieces, he's that good.
Great artwork and enjoyable to talk to
Stopped in to check out his artwork. We were surprised at how good an artist he was. The scenery and barn pictures were fantastic. He showed us his cat oil pictures that he had in the back which were lovely. We told him he should make cards of them like his barns. The conversation we had with him was a nice way to spend some time with a genuine person like his paintings. Anyone visiting Wilmington should stop in check him out while he is working in the second room and enjoy a nice chat. A must see.

What a beautiful artist. His work is a beautiful reflection of Vermont. One of my favorite called The Ruby, captures this beautiful woman, with a necklace that just jumps off the canvas. Not only is his work wonderful, he is a really nice man.

Talented Artist
Jim McGrath is a talented painter who has been painting the Vermont scene (including the recent Wilmington Flood from his windown near the intesection of Rt 9 and Rt 100). Its nice to stop in, see what he has hanging and what he's creating, and walk out with a piece of Vermont to take home with you.
Very Nice Artist
Mr. McGrath was a very friendly artist and he happily took the time to discuss his work with us when we visited his gallery last weekend. While we didn't purchase any pieces (its quite rare for us to ever purchase a piece on a whim or during an initial visit), we liked several and will keep him and his work in mind for potential future purchases. He is definitely very talented and his art is reasonably priced. His works would make a nice addition to many people's homes.
Talented artist with a true eye for light!
Jim was leaving for the day when we walked up and he invited us inside to take a look anyway. We really loved his work, his feel for light in the paintings is so nice! We wish we had more time that day but it is a must-see artist studio for anyone visiting Wilmington, VT.
Beautiful Wood products
Workmanship was excellent, prices were up there!! Their cutting boards were beautiful and within reason of Department stores, but some unusual items were quite expensive.
Wonderful Studio
Jim's studio is filled with his work, a number of which I was tempted to buy. It is my understanding that he is a self taught artist. Obviously Jim has considerable natural talent.
Talent with an Old World Flair
Jim McGrath is one of the hidden gems in Wilmington. His extraordinary talent is modestly displayed in his small gallery on Main Street. The dutch influence on his work is obvious, but they are not too dark - paths through the woods, shadows, trees - all wonderful. I now have three of his works hanging in my home!
Expermimenting Artist in Southern Vermont
Visiting museums and art galleries is a hobby of mine. I was surprised to visit Mr. McGrath's shop and studio. He is continuing to try new things. His artist style ranges from Winslow Homer, to beautiful scenic vistas to the wiped oil pictures of experimental artists in the 60s. Stop by to learn something and to see a truly innovative artist.
