Awesome gem of a find!
I saw this place listed online and with great reviews, I just had to try it. This place is located in a little mall (Royal Square Mall) and not too difficult to find in the small building. I had the cheeseburger combo for under $11. It was scrumptious! The burger was tasty. I usually don't eat fries but they were also very tasty (seasoned). I have a top 5-6 favourite burgers, and this made the list. I liked my meal so much that I went back and gave them a tip.

Finally was in this area of New West today and got to try it out. Reasonable prices, great quality burger and absolutely loved the extra touch that they butter the buns and toast them on the grill. Sorry no pictures, that tasty burger went down my pie hole too fast. It really is in a hole in the wall spot, but those places end up with the best surprises. Across from the dollar store and near the bcld store off mcbride.

Ok, we discovered this little place in New West. Had the BBQ burger (caramelized onion on it) and Cheese burger and added bacon on both and cheese on the BBQ too. The meat is fresh and juicy and made in house. Fries were nice and crispy and tasted clean. Prices are amazing and the food was awesome. We'll be back soon.
Burgers and fries and more
So I've been here a few times now and figured it's time to expose this little gem. These are GOOD burgers. You do t find many places that serve burgers that actually melt in your mouth. I think the buns are steamed or something because they're so soft. The patties are real meat, and caramelized onions with bbq sauce. It's a hot mess I tell ya. The fries also seem homemade. Sliced into random pieces with a crispy coating, they actually taste like potato's. I've also tried the chicken noodle dish and the Korean bulgogi dish, both excellent. It does get busy sometimes, so try not to go around lunch time cause that's when I go... j / k

great secret of new west. in royal square mall. 8 ave n mcbride blvd. ive tried just about everything on the menu. always good food. best coffee in town n the lowest prices. all reasonably priced for those with limited income. breakfast lunch n dinner menu. im a regular customer since Soon opened his cafe. burgers, variety of diff kind of fries, few asian dishes. breakfast also. open mon-fri 8am-6pm, sat 9am-6pm. closed holidays
Quick bit
Handy for a quick bite. The IT burger is very good. Run by a Korean trained chef (I believe). His food is good, well priced, and the lady who serves always has a smile. I often stop here mid-way in my errand running.

Have you got IT? And by " IT ", I mean an IT Char Burger? If you've never heard of an IT Char Burger before, it's probably because you can only find it at a tiny hole-in-the-wall burger / cafe / Indian / Asian food outlet in a nondescript mini mall located in New Westminster. The next time you're around Royal Square Mall on McBride and Eight Ave, head into the little shopping mall and grab a burger from IT Char. Their signature IT Char Burger with Fries comes in for under $10 with fries. I added a side of gravy and have to admit that it was pretty awesome. The burger comes with two chargrilled patties topped with caramelized onions, bacon, cheese, lettuce and tomato. Everything is made to order and the fries had the perfect balance of crispy exterior and soft interior that paired perfectly with the thick, rich gravy. Yup, it doesn't get much better than this. There's not really a food court in this mini mall… but they do have some tables that you can sit at to enjoy your meal. This place also serves up western-style breakfast options, butter chicken, as well as some Asian dishes… but I always come back for their burgers. I finally decided one day to try one of their other burgers… the Double Spicy BBQ with fries and drink for under $10. It's fairly similar to the IT Char Burger in that it comes with caramelized onions and double patties. Where it departs is that it's topped with thick-cut jalapeño slices as well as a sweet bbq sauce. This time around, I didn't order the side of gravy and I was kicking myself because it really sends the fries over the top. The jalapeño slices didn't actually give this burger much heat but the burger was quite messy to eat with the mix of sweet caramelized onions and bbq sauce. IT Char makes a heck of a burger… make sure you check them out if you're in the area.
A fun breakfast!
In New Westminster this morning for medical appointments at the hospital, and had time to kill between tests, so headed over to Royal Square Mall to check out the burgers at IT Char Burger. We (as a threesome) arrived at the Mall about 9:30 am. The 'restaurant' (food-court stall) is located inside and way at the very back of the Mall _ we parked near the Mall's main entrance, and entered there. Note: if you wish to skip the walk inside the Mall, the restaurant itself is most-easily / readily accessible via a side entrance to the Mall located right by the entrance to Safeway. I asked the owner if it was too early to order burgers - " No, I can make you burgers. " - was his reply, and what we wanted to hear. So we were good to go! At this still rather early time of day, their signature burger (IT char burger) looked way too big for the time, and our appetites, so with a helpful recommendation from the owner, we opted for smaller single meat patty burgers, and ordered three cheeseburgers, but via the lunch 'combo' (i. e, with fries & drink), so that we could taste what was anticipated to be some great fries. Our food came out of the kitchen totally made-to-order. The burgers well-made - buns toasted, the inside ingredients plentiful, fresh, tasty, and juicy _ definitely requiring a couple of napkins to fully-enjoy!! The fries were great, and all they have been cracked up to be _ lightly-battered and seasoned, and cooked perfectly. It was a fun dining experience. Food-court burgers and fries for breakfast, certainly far from our usual fare to start the day, but for today, a rather nice, tasty, and much-enjoyed treat. A cool little place, and based on our initial taste, very capable of serving up some rather well-prepared food stuff.
