Hags on the Hill is a collection of 14 juried local Nova Scotian unique artisans who present and operate a co-op style shop. Located in the heart of the iconic Peggy's Cove. Selection includes, leather, jewelry, glass, pottery, felting, painting, wood working, natural skin care, and hand forged metal work. Great gifts and mementos from Nova Scotia you can't find everywhere! Drop in and " meet the makers " and enjoy our down east charm! You will be glad you came!

Interesting local souvenir shop
A small interesting souvenir shop. It seems that the choice is not very big, but in general there are some interesting things. Since you came to visit this lighthouse, you definitely can come to look on their goods and it may be interesting to you to buy some local trinket.

Cute shop
Expect to spend 5-10 minutes at this tiny shop but definitely check it out. The owner is very friendly and lovely. The stuff is beautiful and unusual but pricey typical of other one of a kind artisanal works.
Oldest building in Peggy's Cove
We visited the gallery and besides getting to see high quality local art you also get to see the oldest building in Peggy's Cove. We bought some wonderful prints as well as a bookmark. Take the time to check it out. You will not be disappointed!

I love the variety in the old house overlooking the ocean. the staff was super friendly even though I ended up just chatting.
High Quality Local Art
This is a great shop to see local artisans work. I was very impressed with the quality of the pieces and the variety of types of work that were available. I started up a conversation with one of the people staffing the store that morning and it was one of the artists who had pieces for sale. It was great to get to meet the artist and hear how they got started making their artwork. This old house is also a great place to look at the lighthouse from. The glass in the windows is the original glass from the house and makes a unique lens to look at the lighthouse through.

A popular shop loaded with so many items. Take your time to pick out the perfect gift for yourself or a souvenir. Nice sales help too.

Artisan gift shop
Loved this gift shop. Supports lots of local Artists. Cool jewelry, recycled leather goods, pictures and so much more. Much better then mass produced junk.
Local artisans, great little shop
Just a few moments walk from Peggy's Cove, this delightful shop showcases works from a few local artisans. As expected, prices are higher than the made in China souvenirs found elsewhere, but well worth supporting the local artists with their unique works. Always pleasant to talk to the people running the shop. I recommend stopping by and checking out the local work.
Great name, Unique shop
Enjoyed the original art in this studio. The artist of the piece I bought was sitting in the shop talking to the business owners and customers! Great views of the lighthouse behind the studio.
Not your Average Souvenir Store!
This shop really has some lovely, unique gifts. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Really nice pottery. Definitely worth a stop on your way through Peggy's Cove.

Great range of local craft
This is a charming shop run by ladies who make beautiful craft works on behalf of other people who make beautiful craft work. It's absolutely worth calling to see what they have for sale if you are going to Peggy's Cove.
Quaint
Such a nice little store with some unique items, especially loved the pottery and jewelry. It's the oldest gift shop there as well. Definitely take a browse if you are in the area, some great souvenirs and gift ideas.

If you're in Peggy's Cove, don't miss this place. Authentic crafts and art by local artisans. Unusual things that you don't find another places. Prices are reasonable as well.
Artisan Shop
Small, in an old lobster fisherman's house perched at top of hill at Peggy's Cove but full of wonderful pieces by local artists.... paintings, original bead jewelery, leather handbags, wood carvings, books of the area and more. Shop is manned by the artists.. if your lucky you might meet Lillian Crooks, artist and author who was born and has lived in the area all her life. Don't miss " Hags on the Hill " a must see.
Hags on the Hill what a beautiful place
I was very surprised about the Hags on the Hill. If you want local arts and crafts, made by local artists then you have to visit Hags on the Hill. I was talking to the stuff and we had a good time. Do not Forget to sign the Guestbook. It is a very very beautiful location and Im looking forward to come again and spend my Time in Peggys.
Lovely Handmade Gifts
Don't let the name fool you. These ladies are not Hags but they are on a hill. Beautiful handcrafted items. Reasonably priced. A must got to while your in Peggy's Cove.
Love the Name and Crafts
This is a co-operative craft store ran by a group of women artisans thus the name Hags. Small but lots of variety If you like artisan work a must stop. Also the double decker bus is FREE (not sure if just for this year or not) anyways ride it up from were you park then walk down and visit all or some of the shops.
Good variety of arts and crafts
A wide variety of crafts are shown off in the products being sold in this shop. Excellent leather goods for example. Well worth a look in a very old building built around 1812 or so. Recommended
Shop selling products of local artisans
Better than average shop in Peggy's Cove... not up to standard of those in Mahone Bay or Lunenburg. Good variety of artisan products for sale.... jewellery, stuffed animals, prints and postcards of paintings of local artists. Wide variety of prices. Located in oldest building in St Margaret's Bay.

In addition to having beautiful handcrafted works by a variety of local artisans, visiting the oldest standing building in St. Margaret's Bay is an very cool bonus.
It's a Peggy's Cove must do!
This place is wonderful! A great selection of local artists at all price ranges. Even if you're on a budget they have something for you! We bought paintings and sculptures and they were so wonderful to box them up for us. They are just steps from the lighthouse so you must stop by.
Hats on the Hill
A fun little shop on the Peggy's Cove Beach Walk... the exterior decor and the name of the shop are a big lure.. fun items inside... think most were made by locals...

Expected More But Still Worth the Visit
This was our first visit to Peggy's Cove so we were looking for some interesting souvenirs to remind us of the area and local culture. This was something we try to do whenever we visit a new area for us. While there were many items to choose from, nothing really jumped out at us as representing Peggy's Cove, no dis on the local artisans, just our impression. Given this was our 10+ stop on the east coast, it may have been we were just jaded by this time. We were greeted by a friendly shop owner when we arrived and she was more than willing to talk to us and provided a background on the shop. Maybe next time.

We love to buy local items when traveling. Who wants a made in China memento from Canada? Lol. Not us. Everything in this shop was made by local artisans.

Good variety
Average shop. Was not greeted. Went in, looked around and left. They had a few nice things, but nothing that jumped out and grabbed me. I was expecting more based on other reviews I had read.
Incredible Artistic Pieces!
This is the place to visit if you are looking for quality artistic pieces in all kinds of mediums! Everything from jewelry to knick-knacks. Was very difficult to leave as there was so much to see.
A Must See
No trip to Peggy's Cove is complete without a trip to " The Hags " ! The staff, who are contributing local artists, are incredibly friendly and enthusiastically dispense Nova Scotia knowledge. The art found within is inspired by the beauty of the area and no one should leave empty handed as the prices are very reasonable.

Really cool local artist coop of all sorts of art - pottery, weaving, sewing, jewelry, paintings. Very nice selection and reasonable prices.
Great hand made crafts and gifts
This shop has so much to see! Art, toys, crafts, memorabilia, all hand made by local Artists. My girls and I were extremely impressed! The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable! Love this store and would recommend anyone visit to pick up a unique gift or an awesome memory of NS.

Fun place filled with 12 local artist's selections. Nice leather goods, and jewelry. All artists are women and each has some eclectic articles for sale.
Family Generational Trio Trip
Hags on the Hill absolutely ROCKS!! No pun intended given the setting. Truly unique gifts options created by the different 'hags' 😄😄. Artisanship at its finest - paint, pottery, leather, driftwood, jewelry and much more. Love this place.

Small shop full of local art and handcrafted items in all price ranges. Perfect spot to find a creative gift or souvenir. Very happy to have stumbled onto this place during a foggy visit to Peggy's Cove. Alternate nice view of the lighthouse from here also.
Creative and beautiful hand crafted leather, art, and more
Thought it was going to be a trinket store but was completely surprised with the high quality works of art and hand crafted items. Wonderful service by the staff. Many items are art and hand work by the owners. Very beautiful and functional items such as the grouper leather billfold (wallet) I bought.
