Stay away from this place

Foreigner's should not visit here. It's very dangerous and dirty. It is also crowded with people. Be careful of pickpockets. It is like a market and hub for people who wants to buy cheap items. It is not a tourist destination, so get away from this place.

2024-05-15 08:10:12

Fantastic

Simply amazing. You can find anything you can imagine and at an incredible price. Perfectly safe and the merchants are super friendly Spend a couple hours and wander around, a great experience

Crowded, AliExpress irl

Its very crowded and basically the same Ali express in every booth. It was worth it though, it's something that I don't experience often.

Not to come

I had a very bad experience while visiting the Divisoria market. The traffic to the market was horrible and taxi was unable to access the market due to over crowded with lot and lot of people in the market which became scary with security and safety.

It was far and not worth it. I prefer Vietnam better CR than Philippines. Phillipines is also nice but I found more barg

Not much variety. Prefer the Ben than market. In Phillipines did not have any good shopping bargain places.

Don't Get Too Excited

Hard to accurately describe the place as it is an assault on the senses. Visited solo in November and I was the only foreigner (in fact, all day in Manila I saw no visible Westerner (I'm Irish)). Being a clear westerner, I was frequently stared at (and hassled a bit). Market is a mix of tacky cheap gear and weird smells. Would I visit again; no. Do travel by LRT though - to D. Jose station and walk over as it's interesting walk

Interesting. Worth a look to see an alternative side to Manila

Bargain prices. This where the locals shop. We were the only white faces we saw there or surrounding market streets all day. Several locals we spoke to were surprised that we went there and not a more upmarket shopping choice such as Greenhills. No problems experienced but apparently it could be more dicey at night...

Best shopping

Awesome shopping! Better prices than anywhere else! Everything you could imagine all within a few blocks!! Need a couple of days to get through it all

2023-02-28 01:34:26

Great shopping hub

It a huge flea market with thousands of shops inside 4-5 plazas and outside on the street. I found some good bargain prices on clothes, shoes, handbags etc. the place is safe for tourists.

2023-01-15 10:50:42

animated market

popular market in the street. The kind of place where you wander w / o looking for something special but where you can always find something to buy.

Bottle Hunting

I did some reading from trip advisor before going for the trip. Despite the pandemic the place is busy. Everybody is wearing masks. Yeah, I went to Taboora Street and indeed found a lot of shops selling bottles. It is worth visiting each to have price comparison.

Omigosh - This is a " Must Visit "

Manila has MANY very impressive shopping malls - all air conditioned for hours of convneient browsing BUT for real bargains, nothing beats Divisoria. Or " Divi " as shopaholics call it.. You're going to need at least a full morning or full afternoon- to do it justice. Longer if you can. Go in a group to look out for each other. And go early in the morning for best buys. The store owners usually give good price breaks to he first customers of the day.

Another good market

And have a good market good value for money with most things be careful when buying electrical stuff like sirens and pads make sure that the connections are suitable for Australian use or English use or American use and make sure that everything is working before you take the phone or pad

Divisoria... Shopping haven of Asia!

Divisoria, is indeed a shopping haven in Asia, precisely because, you can find all things that you have in mind, all wrap into one area. Nice clothes, footwear, souvenirs shops, food stalls (wet and dry), varieties of merchandise with big discount are being sold within the premises. Although, loud noise is everywhere😀 That's to be expected since, lot of people from all walks of life gathered here, everyday!

2020-03-05 02:21:06

new experience

this is nothing in my place in japan.. i see everything unique and crowded, i some goods here and cheap price.

2020-03-01 00:22:13

Shopping

Even though there was a lot of building works going on its a nice place to shop for clothes, especially prom dresses. Busy crowded and hard to park but that's what you need to experience Manila.

2020-02-23 16:14:35

This market should be on your list!!

This market and mall is amazing! There is so much to see. If you are looking to explore the real Manila and not just the high end malls this will do the trick. Vendors here sell anything you can imagine and all at very cheap prices. My only caution is that it is extremely congested. Don't expect to manoeuvre a car here. Getting in and out is the challenge

2020-02-09 23:43:41

Mostly junk

Good luck finding anything much in here. Better off going to Greenhills Market (just don't buy the watches) better class of junk.

2020-02-08 07:37:29

An experience!

A great place to see the underbelly of Manila... I was told to dress down and wear my backpack on my front. An amazing array of street vendors in the street and small stores in the market building selling everything possible... sliced pineapple, cooked corn... local crafts and souvenirs... clothing and shoes... household goods, toys and electronics.... Take cash and be prepared to bargain... although this is best done by a Filipino friend or colleague of you're caucasian. A true Manila experience! 🌼

2020-01-24 15:04:01

People come here because it is cheap to shop

Most things are cheaper here. This is not the high-end area. One could say cheap and dirty but then if it was that bad, why are you here. Duterte has cleaned up these sorts of places and they are much safer. Go for the experience but watch you wallet on the train.

2020-01-17 19:34:00

A better place since Yorme Isko

This shopping place is still crowded by shoppers, but by now the vendors on the streets are gone. It is now more people and vehicles on the streets than vendors, before it's more vendors on the streets and 1 vehicle can pass thru in the middle of the road; now 3 vehicles can at least pass thru on the streets of Divisoria. Don't forget the pickpockets they are still around. Although this place still look a chaos it is now a chaos of shoppers and jeepneys not by vendors on the sidewalks and middle of the road, Thank you Yorme Isko!

Patience but enjoy

So this is probably the biggest group of markets I know of in the world, but getting there and leaving can test your patience traffic is terrible you need to plan you drop off and leaving points or be ore pared to spend a lifetime in traffic. But give yourself time here, there are so many markets many with very average product lines, some like Lucky China Mall with the real deal and real prices also, but in most cases you're here to shop for good quality knock off products, many of the markets are very tight in their arrangements so be prepared for close on contact, we went to all the markets, gift some really good quality knock offs hand bags, shoes and polo tops all with the top names but due to the bargained prices obviously not the real thing but who cares it's fun and friends don't see the difference, So shop around have fun be patient but most of all save money Enjoy

2020-01-07 22:59:30

Meh

Complete chaos inside. The shop owners are busy packing up orders and you have to sometimes crawl over bundles to get down the narrow lanes. They have everything from construction hard hats to towels to clothing. Many of the items were of cheap quality. There were lots of shops making personalized bags, Tshirts etc but you can easily find them online and avoid the chaos. I prefer the Greenhills market.

2020-01-07 04:43:50

Unnerving

We lasted about one minute before we made a decision to get out. Everyone was staring at us, and we felt very uneasy especially with two children with us. The guys were eyeing us threateningly and we got out of there within five minutes in a passing tuk tuk. It was a sinister feeling - the most uneasy I have felt in all of South East Asia.

2020-01-03 14:58:40

Nice place

Theres a lot of choices in the store. Anything you want are all there in the Divisoria. Be a smart buyer, you can talk a sweetly or gentle in the seller to give you a discount.

2020-01-02 18:49:00

almost a 360 degree change

a trip to Manila will not be complete without a visit to Divisoria. to my surprise, my face towel for sweat was not of use this time around. the usual chaos before was gone. my best experience at my fave shopping location. bravo to the present Manila City admin for regaining control over the streets of Manila.

2019-12-08 10:41:06

Cheap goods galore

Divisoria is famous among locals for cheap goods. It was my first ever visit there and the goods were really cheap. Made me realize malls have quite the mark-up. I like to say It's more adventurous in the Philippines and Divisoria is certainly an adventure. There's no sense of urban planning here. Divisioria is really a big area full of hawkers on the streets and hawkers inside back-to-back malls. Cars sometimes squeeze their way through between pedestrians. This is nowhere near as organized as Chatuchak. Try to get in as early as you can before the traffic becomes prohibitive. If you have a car, park at Lucky Chinatown. Parking starts at the 5th level but there's an elevator going down to thw ground level. If you park before 9, the base rate is P100. Google maps is pretty useless in terms of driving here because of the numerous one way routes that are not accounted for. And watch out for the pickpockets!

2019-12-01 14:48:44

Day out at the Divisoria Markets

Caught a Grab car from hotel to the markets. The ride and price were both good. The Markets themselves wereall over the place so you could just lose yourself in a good way. While walking around we managed to find the 168 markets by mistake which was good. We didn't realise we were so close to Chinatown which we missed out on. Our mistake for not googling wider. All in all it was a good day but getting a Grab back to the Hotel took an hour.

2019-11-29 16:43:27

2019 Family Visit

What a shopping experience for the foreigners. The prices are very reasonable and the variety of items are of plenty. If you are shopping for souvenirs, school supplies, kids school clothes, party supplies etc. this is the place to go. Very crowded and long walks but well worth it in the end. This place has it all and much more.

2019-11-28 18:29:04

divisoria trip this week

At upscale Lucky Chinatown mall (like the Glorietta in Makati), branches of shops and restos found in Makati are also here. 3 hours parking is 50 pesos and 20 pesos more for an hour thereafter. At Tutuban mall you can find many shops selling ready to wear bridal dress for 4, 000 pesos and up. I was there looking for 18 " by 24 " pillow cases. There is a corner shop that sell for 50 pesos vs 150 pesos for other shops. And for a car rear view mirror mounted video cam quoted at 2, 500 pesos plus 1, 000 pesos for 32G SD card. Price I bought online for 750 pesos and 300 pesos respectively. Fuji apples at 6 pcs per 100 pesos vs 180 pesos at supermarkets. Same size and quality too. At Divisoria, there is much much more variety of products, not available elsewhere. Clothing such as blouses and pants and Shoes are priced low and affordable. But watch out! These do not last long. Items like these from China are not even 2nd class quality and brought in and customs duties charged by the KILO. Or for a fixed amount per container. And that is why. And if you ask for a discount in Putonghua (Chinese), you do not have to go to China after all to buy the same item.

2019-11-06 08:24:26

2019-10-30 14:56:08

Best prices

Great souvenirs and supplies for home, party and events. The walking is extensive, not sure if you can finish all in one day. Retailers are not as aggressive as Greenhills, so I can browse in peace without the worker trying to hustle me into buying things.

2019-10-30 09:10:39

Not for the claustrofobic person

This active market is not for tourists. It is like a New York City subway during rush hour. I have no doubts that you could buy anything under the sun here. We went for souvenirs but left after almost suffering a heat stroke. Nothing here to see unless you like being jostled and elbowed by the crowds. We were told to beware of pick pockets and I see why.

2019-10-29 02:50:37

Bargain City

Divisoria is now a much much better place to gi shopping for anything and everything at the best prices in the country. Everyone comes here to buy retail at wholesale prices. The streets are now also cleaner and more organized thanks to the new Mayor.

2019-10-18 22:54:11

Only for situations where there is no other choice

The place is crowded beyond measure. Sure, everything is cheap, but that also entails low quality for most of the stuff there. Come rain, everyone is drenched and all the paths become quite slippery. When you buy large quantities of items, you have to be extremely vigilant when counting the items; most of the vendors tend to cheat. Always be on the lookout for your stuff; there's a lot of pickpockets here.

2019-10-09 14:00:58

So crowded

This area ios next to Chinatown and is full of stalls selling home furnishings, fabric, drapes and gadgets,

2019-10-08 20:21:12

Bargain Shopping

It was nice to visit Divisoria now since Mayor Isko cleaned it up. The road is wide enough nowfor vehicles to pass through

2019-10-05 22:55:39

clean & order

Am happy to see that the ordinance of Manila Municipality was imposed where the uneducated businessmen were being followed what was just.

2019-10-01 10:12:20

They shopping is great but get there early

I love the shopping here it was very busy with lots of people but a big tip if you see something once get it right away as you may never see it again or you may forget where you saw it. This market has lots of colour and fashion. If they haven't got something it was not worth getting in the first place. A bargain can be had here all day every day and please barter as much as possible.

2019-09-27 13:34:07

Come Here With a Guide

This area is huge. Whatever you're looking for most likely you will find especially if it's made in China. I spend some time going through rows and rows of stalls with all sorts of goods such as clothing, bags, wallets, etc. There is a food court on the upper floor that's inexpensive. Try going to 168 Mall. In that area there is also Bonifacio Mall. The Philippines is full of malls.

2019-08-18 17:02:00

Big Bargain

Be prepared to walk stretches of big and small eclectic bargain malls and stalls for any needs that you want to buy from buttons to fishing nets.

DON'T RISK IT!! dangerous corner nothing to see or buy!!!

2019-08-18 07:23:11

Can't stress this enough: DON'T GO THERE!

I was born in a third world country so I've got a thick skin. However I just looked at the average rating here on TA and thought, that it'll be a market with average risks but I was wrong. The locals give you this " what the hell are you doing here? " look and some told us dead serious to be very, very careful (some even as a threat). Luckily nothing happened to us while we searched for long for a spot where we could order transport via Grab. Taxis don't go there usually, no surprise. We stayed for an hour with some time being spend in the mall in its center. During that time it got dark outside which made the situation even worse. The most unsecure place we visited during our 4 weeks of traveling in the Philippines.

2019-08-07 01:12:32

good place to buy chinese items

is a big place where many filipinos sell diferent items. you can find veggies, fruits, clothes and tons and tons of other stuff. people are really nice hot but nice

2019-06-20 18:43:19

Pusat barang murah!

2019-01-05 04:17:51

Crowded

This is a local market with makeshift stalls along a few streets selling various stuff, from fruits to kitchen wares, clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, etc. Prices are cheap, especially the fruits. I didn't see any foreigners here, as the market is mainly for the locals to do their marketing and shopping. The market is hot, crowded and wet in certain areas. Hence wear light clothings and proper shoes. Also be extra careful with your belongings. If you are here, recommend to visit the 168 and 999 malls, which are air conditioned. There are food courts to settle your meals.

2018-11-14 02:26:36

Very good

2018-07-08 13:09:25

It's chaos, it's fun, it's an adventure

The real Manila. Hustle, bustle and all things in between. Barter.. barter.. barter... the energy of this market is amazing. Be careful, not for the faint-hearted and weak constitution.. sights and smells will be intoxicated with fun and danger. Mind your personal effects... be careful just like in any other big markets and wear appropriate footwear (I wear lightweight tennis shoes) that way you won't need to worry about your feet. Overall, if your a browser / bartering type.. this place will give you what you need... you can even take A / C respite in one of the malls which surround the market... but if you'd rather stay in the malls... then stick to the SM's. I'd go back for sure.

Street Shopping

For an American, this was an amazing experience, so many shops, great bargains, and Binondo is right here (China Town).

Tips and Shopping Guide to Divisoria in Manila

Divisoria remains to be the best place in Manila to shop for bulk items like clothing, bags, shoes, toys and thousand household items at affordable prices. Divisoria, also referred to as " Divi ", is known for its retail and wholesale stores and tiangge-style bazaars and street markets. Here are some " tips " in doing your shopping in Divi: 1. Divisoria is always crowded and therefore it is advisable that you go in the morning and take extra care of yourself and your belongings. Wear something casual and comfortable shoes and avoid using jewelries and expensive wears. Go there without wearing your expensive watch and necklace and ladies might consider leaving their nice handbags at home. Use sling bags instead. As in many crowded markets, be careful of snatchers and pickpockets. Be careful also when you use your expensive cell phones as there were reported incidents of cellphones being grabbed. 2. Shopping in street markets outside the Malls is always hot and humid. Moving in between the Malls in Divi will require you to walk which will take longer than expected because of heavy crowd, street stalls and chaotic traffic. Always be mindful of your safety. 3. Avoid buying fake or adulterated cosmetics and drugs. Be watchful of food items you buy which might contain harmful ingredients. 4. You can haggle with sellers specially if you are three items of the same kind or buying in bulk. Best to first compare prices of things you want to buy. 5. Bring cash as credit cards are not accepted in the street market and many stores in the Malls. There are ATM machines in banks and in all the Malls. Avoid using ATM machines in very crowded areas. Remember to adhere to the practical security tips in using ATMs. 6. Bring large enough bags for you the goods you purchase. Those bags with zipper or closures are preferred. If you forget to bring one, you can easily buy your bags from many shops in the area. If you expect yourself to buy a lot and do not wish to break your back because of heavy load, bringing you grocery trolley may be practical. Trollies of various sizes and colors can be purchased in many stores there starting at about 350 pesos. 7. Eating your snack or meals is not a problem because there are lots of restaurants around. It is recommended however that you consider going to the fast food facilities located in the Malls for fast service, good selection of food and reasonable pricing. Again, consider taking your snack and meals early to avoid the crowd and long lines. 8. Clean toilets are available in the Malls. If toilets are crowded, consider using the toilets located in restaurants. Toilets are expected to have running water but best to always bring your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer. 9. Don't hesitate to ask for directions from police and security personnel in the area. If you don't find them, it is best to ask directions from any responsible store owner or personnel. If still in doubt, validate the direction given you by asking from another person. Most Filipinos can understand and speak English.

Textiles hunting grounds

Located near Recto and Quiapo is a must visit place for an adventure and fun. Usually crowded day in and night time. It is fun place to hunt for bargains for all items. Each street specialize in a merchandise so it is advisable to ask around. Be wary of your things though but a lot of police presence are felt. Restaurants and snack shack are around to cater any cuisine. Try Chinese as it is one of their specialty. Mode of transportation are not a problem as jeepneys route cover's all area's of Manila.

2016-11-21 20:57:12

Very crowded market. Attack of the senses!

You either love it or you hate it. I personally liked it but in small dozes. Its overcrowded and very manic. Jeepneys and tricycles making their way through the center of the stalls. But it is a great place to buy Christmas decorations, any gadgets for your phone, housewares, and even pajamas for kids. There is also an indoor market which is basically a repeat of everything, inside. For a bit of relief, head to the Lucky Mall, Chinatown which is only a 10 minute walk away.

2016-11-06 07:36:51

Treasures, Knockoffs, Risky but Awesome

Another spot I would recommend having a Local keep you safe. Military checkpoints, Snatchers. If you don't look like a local you will be wearing a bullseye. Keep wallet in front pocket. $10 Jordan's, $2 t-shirts hot off the back room press. One of the most thrilling, awesome experiences. The area is no joke though. Be smart.

2016-09-19 15:04:08

eccezionale

2016-09-01 12:56:50

First time

I was so overwhelmed that I forgot what I wanted to buy. I plan on going back in the near future. They have everything you can possibly think of.

2016-07-30 23:12:41

Beyond shopping deals, great to see more local life

I suppose most visitors go to buy the amazingly cheap knock-offs but the commerce in the busy street markets outside the malls is great people watching and exploring. I had several friendly, casual conversations with locals on the street (who were not trying to sell me anything). It's not a wealthy area.

Sciopping

cheap prices, but careful with theft

everything can bargain almost half price at divisoria (chinatown of manila). we love to shop here, eventhough the place is not so safe, you have to be clever watching your things in safe. but over all you will enjoy shopping here.

Brace yourself

Wow I had heard so much about this market and had to go. Perhaps foolishly I chose a Sunday morning - don't even think about it if you don't like crowds. It's not so well organised you see, so for example the roads outside aren't closed to traffic even though they are clogged up with stalls and people. Imagine a jeepney trying to drive through the middle of a dense crowd of people - you've got the idea. Aside from that, well it isn't much of a tourist attraction, and you can probably buy anything anywhere else with a lot less hassle. Not in the same league as Chatuchak market in Bangkok Thailand, which is worth a look for tourists. Sadly this one isn't.

With the right information, you'll enjoy the marketplace :)

Divisoria is a one stop shop and a unique destination in Manila, Philippines. It is a place where a lot of locals go to buy cheap products (very wide variety) and it is also a destination where a lot of entrepreneurs go to buy merchandise in wholesale to re-sell in various places in the Philippines. It is very crowded especially in seasonal months and as for every crowded place, safety can be an issue. As an advice for tourists, if you're there to shop and you want to experience bargain shopping you can go to 168 Mall and 999 Mall to start. If you want to shop branded products you can go to Lucky Chinatown Mall, a mall just beside 168 and 999. These malls are air conditioned, safe, new, and are big enough to keep you busy in your shopping :) For people who think they can manage the crowded streets, there are other interesting malls / buildings like General Shopping Center, Azcarraga Textile Market, Good Morning Building, Yangco Market (textiles), Bodega Sales Center (toys), Fiesta Shopping Mall, Divine Mart, Tutuban Centermall, Tutuban Primeblock and many more.

2013-05-07 21:23:35

Everything is here

This place is a market where you can purchase different items like clothes for men, women and children. There's a place where you can purchase appliances, electronic products, gadgets, school supplies, party favors, toys, vegetables, fruits name it and almost every thing you will find it in Divisoria. You can purchase it for retail or whole sale. Most of the people who owns a store they usually got their products in Divisoria because it's affordable. You should know how to ask for a discount because you get from 40% to 70% discount.

Divisoria: The mother of all Markets

I have been frequenting Divisoria countless times since I settled in the Metro 10 years ago. My friends used to take me there as they scan items they deemed worthy to buy. They taught me how to make a good bargain from different stalls offering wide arrays of goods you can name. Now, I can manage to wander around by myself through Divisoria's main boulevard to its narrow streets. There is absolutely nothing you cannot find in Divisoria. I never get tired of touring the place the entire day as it is a good way to make fun with friends, a cost-free fitness center to exercise and best of all, to find the best and real shopping deals. Vendors along the streets often offer thirst-quenching drinks and tasty food morsels perfect for those hungry shoppers from the hot crowded place. You can grab a slice of watermelon, pineapple, a corn on a stick, a bottle coconut juice from the cart vendors while scanning the busy streets. Who can resist those familiar streetfoods like tukneneng, balut, fish balls, and what not? Well, cleanliness is a different thing. Since the first to settle the area for their trade are the Chinese, Chinese restaurants are everywhere which offers the irresistible dimsum, succulent noodles, and their famous black tea. I have just teased you with just the tip of an ice berg, the truth to the matter is, when you're in Divisoria, almost if not all you need is readily available. Mind you, people not only offer tangible items here but countless kinds of services you could imagine. You really don't need a fortune to shop here, a thousand pesos is enough for a shop-till-you-drop splurge. On the downside, there are things you should be ready on when visiting Divisoria. One is the bunch of notorious snatchers and pickpockets just hanging around. They are not just operating on a small scale; they are an organized modus operandi played by large syndicates. Another thing to mind is parking, it might be best to just commute when visiting here as good parking spaces are miles away from the vicinity of the area. Another thing to consider is the temperature. Humidity and the scorching sun may make you easily tired, so bring a towel with you and a bottled water. You may also want to wear your most comfy travel shoes as you have to walk around never-ending streets. Overall, Divisoria is worth visiting. I doubt if crazy-shopping lovers will not be in love with this amazing place -heaven or a hell in a good way. Since Divisoria covers vast vicinity and has no known marked boundaries, I will wander each of the most popular streets surrounded by various stalls, shops, malls and sidestreet vendors. The first part of this journey features the most crowded streets like Juan Luna, Ylaya and Santo Cristo. I decided not to take the beaten track by choosing the PNR headed to Tutuban Mall. History has it that Tutuban Center Mall was formely the Tutuban Central Station of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) which was the major drop-off center of goods traded from various regions north to south of Luzon. It was my first time to hop in and enjoy a real train ride. It was an awesome ride. http:// marketraveler. wordpress.com/2013 / 03 / 13 / divisoria /

The Mother of all Markets in Manila

Getting to this place is already a challenge. For me, Boni MRT -> Taft MRT -> EDSA LRT -> Doroteo Jose LRT -> Jeepney -> Divisoria Market. You might be afraid by now but let me tell you, if you do not visit this market is just as good as visiting Bangkok without going to ChatuChak Market. Divisoria Market to be honest, cater to more locals and not foreigners. Foreigners will find it intimidating and prefer to shop and GreenHills instead. However, here you really can get bargains and if you really want to experience local way of life? This is the place. Crowded area provide opportunity for thives. So a money belt will be handy. Divisoria Market not only consists of the market itself, it also has Mall 168, Mall 999 and some buildings that I do not even know its name. I spend 4 hours there and guess I only covered 40% only. Where is the other 60% ? I have no idea too. The place is just so huge! I can understand visitors may find this place dirty but hey, this is a market in Manila. It can't be as sanitized as Mall of Asia! On a final note. This is where your wallet will bleed. :)

Where to find cheapest bottles in divisoria

When it comes to give aways, the number one place to go that comes to our mind is Tabora St. In divisoria. In the said street, you will be able to find different types of bottles depending on tour needs, baking and cooking utensils and of course pre-made give aways. However due to checking for a cheaper price, i tend to look around even in a different street. In tabora street, you may look for " Obet Bote " stall he sells the cheapest bottles, like with other at stalls a mason jar cost 35 but with him you can get it at only 20 pesos. For the cheapest mason jars or bottles, you might want to turn left before Tabora Street and you may see other stalls selling cheap mason jars same jars in Tabora Street. You may want to look for Mercy Bote. So from 168 shopping mall, just go straight ahead, passing the intersection (fire department to the right) then at the end of the alley (going to the old divi mall) there are stalls selling juices mixes and party favors, turn right, you will see vendor selling shrimp (then there is intersection again, straight ahead is tabora streets, turn left you will see cheap bottles and candies and chocolate mix. I hope this could help :)

Crazy SHOPPING exerience!

Divisoria, is the place to go for bargains galore. From the Tutuban Mall to 168 and all the other malls in the area, to the street bangket (stalls) its a CRAZY experience. If you want to buy anything from clothes, cellphones, electronics, gadgets, gizmos and anything under the sun. Divisoria is the place to go. I've gone to the Night Market in HK, and if you liked shopping there, you'll love Divisoria. You can get everything from Night Market at half the price. Tips: 1) If you're not claustrophobic, go during December, where the bargains are everywhere. BUT a) DO NOT go alone, bring friends. b) DO NOT wear any jewelry c) NEVER flaunt all your money d) STAY AWAY from the really dark alleys. e) Refrain from bringing those huge SLR cameras, bring something handy and simple f) ALWAYS keep you bag infront of you g) Cellphones and wallets, in your front pockets, and DONT wear those baggy pants that anyone can pick your pockets without you even feeling a thing. I say this, not because its the most dangerous place, Its quite safe with roving police and hundreds of tourists daily, but being safe is the main priority here for you to really enjoy your stay. These are tips that are not just given to foreigners, but also to all Filipinos who go there. Putting it simply, don't temp the snatchers, no matter if you're 6'6 ". 2) If the say P500 for an item, say: LAST PRICE and go for P250. You can probably buy it for half the price, so keep haggling, its a lot of fun. Its an experience that you will enjoy. If you don't want it too crowded, go on a weekday, and avoid the december time where the streets are crowded. Make sure you visit: 168, which is an airconditioned mall that is full of bargains, and Tutuban mall, where you can get a good meal in Max's Restaurant, or BODHI for the vegetarians. You can search pictures for Divisoria and 168 on flikr. I'll add pics to the next post.

Tutuban Mall vs 168 vs 999

Usually you go to Tutuban Mall, or 168. Theres a new place in town. 999. Its right across 168. It has basement parking for P45 for first 3 hours and p10 for each succeeding hour. Its fully aircon and has a good variety of shops. The place is not crowded especially 2nd and 3rd floors. The foodcourt on the 3rd floor has good food, the Chinese Fast foods are everywhere and are affordable. 60-100 per set meal. We use to travel to all the different shopping areas in Divisoria. Now we just head over to 999. The variety / price is great and its not crowded. Perfect way to get a bargain. Bought a jacket for P400 (starting price was P700) and a couple of shirts for P200 (P300 starting). Will be back for Christmas shopping in Oct or Nov before Divisoria gets crazy full!

Culture shock, intimidating and scary

To us, our first impression upon arriving was a massive night-open-market, crowded (with locals) and FILTH. No doubt there were hundreds of stalls covering a number of streets but the general idea was not go in. The locals gave us a surprised-stare most of them (very different from the treatment we get in Makati) though some tried to be a good host. we however felt really uncomfortable walking as it was extremely dirty (refuse where everywhere) and crowded. based on our experience of getting there using the MRT and LRT, dont think its worth the time and effort. we felt that we had to leave immediately, let alone enjoying the bargain.

2010-09-26 02:39:31

Fun to Visit if Super Tight Crowds Don't Spook You

This is where the Filipino natives go to shop for everything... CHEAP! If you have never shopped in a super tight Filipino stalls area before, hold on! This is one adventure you might want or might not want to experience! BOTTOM LINE: Is is worth visiting? Sure if you clearly understand that this is a super busy place and you must keep your valuables, wallet, purse, phones and camera's hidden away of they could easily walk away without you even knowing it. This is a cheap bargain hunters delight (think cheap stuff)... if you can handle the downsides. If you are looking for fake Rolex watches and name brand sunglasses, you will find them (pretty junky though). The smells of the market of fresh eggs, fish, vegetables, etc. is not for the faint of heart. Just seeing all the action of locals buying stuff is worth the trip here felt. Try to go as a group for better security (DAY TIME ONLY). WORD OF WARNING: You have seen warnings on other reviews, but I'll back them up. Keep anything you don't want to walk away, i. e. money of any kind, jewelry, good watches, good sunglasses, cameras, cellphones, etc. out of site! Keep your backpack in front of you and hands wrapped around it. I DID NOT see anyone get ripped off but I was warned by locals not to risk bringing anything your can't afford to loose. You can find some great deals BUT be sure to haggle and haggle for the best deal. Because these guys know that you are a foreigner, they will typically start off several times higher than where they would start off with a local. Just decide in advance where you want by max for price to be then start off at 10-20% of what they tell you. Be prepared to " walk away " from the deal. You never know what they will take until you ask. Remember, don't fall in love over it unless you really, really want it. Look elsewhere. There are tons of shops here and you just might snag a bargain you can brag about back home! P. S. Prying eyes are everywhere. Once you make a deal, count your money INSIDE you bag. You do not want anyone to see all those bills you are carrying inside your wallet. Only take out what is require. Be safe and have fun!

Ladies, take a local someone with you when you go ! Shopping heaven

Forget all your malls, the heart and soul of the Phillipines shopping is here in Divisoria, Manila. Buy here and sell elsewhere and you are guaranteed a profit ! The prices are direct from China plus five or 10% ! Many floors of shopping, and the cafe style food court on the 4th floor is an ideal haven to go to. Caution, take some large folding bags, some water.... as the bargaining is thirsty work and watch out for the pickpockets, look out for and secure your wallets.

its a must see in manila

hi, i recently visited divisoria market and its definately worth a visit.. there are some real bargains there.. dont expect it to be like mall of asia although the 5 th floor of mall 168 (i think it was called that) is clean and there was entertainment on there too.. The filipino s are generally well natured in my experience, so treat them as you like to be treated and you wont go far wrong.. On the whole the staff we met along the way were more into introducing themselves and hoping you would take them home in your suitcase too.. hehehe making for a nice friendly day, if you aren t with a filipino then it would help to hire a guide for the day just to make your trip that little more comfortable.. i was with my partner who is filipino which made me feel right at home.. Its definately worth the experience of the real Manila

Pickpockets, paedophile / groomers and rubbish products everywhere

Awful place, horrendous pollution, air quality on level with Beijing, every shop selling awful imitation designer products, groups of pickpocket artists are everywhere. Didn't feel safe, goods are heavily inflated in cost when shop keepers see you aren't a local citizen. Tourists are seen as walking ATM machines. Avoid unless you have good security guard with you or you are travelling in a large organised group with a local tour guide. After 8hours of walking, ended up buying none of the junk / garbage on sale.

2016-01-20 05:19:20

Dirty and Dangerous

Very Dangerous to go here. lots of thieves and dont bother asking the police for help. they will extort from you as well

2016-09-12 21:02:56

Don't go. Pickpockets paradise

I would not recommend visiting at all. You have to be constantly vigilant against pickpockets and most of the things on sale are cheap rubbish. Visit a proper mall where things may be more expensive but your belongings will be safe and goods will be of good quality.

2013-07-27 12:51:21

Amazing shopping place

Do Not Eat at Chopsticks n Spoons.. The owner is a nasty piece of work and doesn't deserve any thing.. I've seen with my own eyes the way she treats the workers that work in the food court collecting the dishes.. And I'm sure everyone would have the same views as me.. Please don't give this evil person any business

2012-08-21 01:14:20

Bargains! Bargains! Bargains!

There are many stalls selling all types of merchandise. Behind the stalls there are various shops selling all types of things. Look at the stalls and go into the shops. There are leather products and jewelery etc, for great prices. In some of the shops if you buy a set quantity, say 6, you get then at an even cheaper price. The single unit price is already a bargain. Have fun and take a friend to help carry the bags. Be careful, in all the retail therapy excitement, of pickpockets. Those who are aware and take the usual precautions will be fine. It's great to just look around and enjoy the atmosphere!

2008-11-19 05:31:45

Authentic but super crowded

I feel very safe in Manila, which to me is a grossly underrated city. However Divisoria is incredibly crowded. Think of three others having a shower with you in a small cubicle and you may get the picture. There are certainly bargains. However if you go, take only the money you need, leave any jewellery at home and keep hold of your friends. No one wants to exaggerate supposed 'dangers' but thives thrive in crowded spots. This certainly qualifies.

2013-03-04 22:41:20

Affordable Prices, Great Bargain

I buy most of the supplies I need here for my wedding business. It is a very busy market particularly on weekends so I schedule my trip on weekdays as much as possible. The vendors are kind and will offer a chair while waiting for your orders to be prepared (I usually buy in bulk). Things I buy: 1. Abaca twines, baskets, boxes. 2. Dried grasses, dried flowers, fabric flowers 3. Jewelry supplies 4. Ribbons, laces and trims 5. Glue essentials 6. etc TIP: Bargain. Take care of your belongings. Enjoy the colors!

2011-10-18 11:00:28

Worth the money, but doesn't worth the risk

Part One: (don't skip part two) After shopping in SM mall of Asia, we wanted to shop where the local shop and pay what the local pay. So we went to the market area, but not to the streets, but to 168 and 999 malls. They both located near each other, so you can visit both. Prices are really chip and you can find good quality goods as well. The malls resemble to MBK mall in Bankok - many small stores with local and fake international brands located on few levels. Now to the prices. This is really puzzles me. With some stores I was able to get 30% discount after some bargaining, while with some maximum 10%, no matter what you do. you can walk away and no one will come after you or suggest to lower the price. I interpreted it as following: I have noticed that Filipinos in most cases will charge you same as if you would be local, especially outside of big cities, so the prices are low from the begging, If those are marked, mostly you can get 10%, if not then you can always try and bargain for more. but don't be surprised if you won't get much. Part two: This is very unpleasant area and more than few locals suggested to avoid going there. You can be pick pocket or robbed. Malls are safer, but you need to find it w / o getting into really bad areas. We used local friend who runs travel agency named " shore2shore-travel-services " and took us there and was with us the whole time. But w / o her we would not go and I would strongly suggest same to you - if you don't have local friend, don't go - it just not worth it.

Divisoria Mall Market got burn down last 2013

I need to inform that Divisoria Mall and market got burned down last 2013. As of now demolition and clearing operations busy the area. Do visit 168 mall or 999 mall instead or the upscale Luckychinatown mall all these are just walking distance from the burned establishment

2016-09-06 02:35:24

Lots of bargains lots of pickpockets too

Be careful of pickpockets here. Lots of bargain here. Cheap food and cheap buys. What's great about Divisoria is that it houses the famous shop Apollo Plastic Marketing Corporation. Lots of great sales

2012-10-25 06:05:56

some of the best bargains are here

I grew up near Divisoria and I have enjoyed the pleasures of bargain sales even at a young age - from fruits to vegetables to curtains to textile to garments and many more. I work nearby and thus, frequent the area. The place might be scary for some because there are (and will always have) thieves, pickpockets and snatchers around looking for preys but you just have to outsmart them. When you go shopping here, don't wear jewelry; keep your money in your front pockets (preferably shirt pockets rather than pants' pockets). Keep your bag in front of you at all times and beware of young children " begging ", selling plastic bags, etc. because some of them are very clever pickpockets. Bring small bills to avoid being cheated on the change (because there are cheats among vendors, sad to say). Bring a big bag to stash your bargain treasures as the more plastic bag you carry along would make you more prone to losing one or two of them. Come early in the morning when there is no crowd yet and if you are the first buyer (buena mano), chances are you'll get the item for the price you bargained for - even if it's half of the original price. November and December can be really tough because human traffic is at its worst here. Enterprising people buy the items here cheaply to re-sell them in their neighborhood. So if you want to do your Christmas shopping here, do it as early as September - October.

2012-10-24 23:19:38

be prepared to be confronted, but relax and enjoy the colour

Well, having read some of the previous reviews I'm not sure we were in the same place! Sure, like many places you have to exercise some security awareness, but please don't let those concerns deter you from visiting the manic, sprawling, seething mass of colourful humanity! It goes on and on for ever, and the whole place is draped with coloured umbrellas, narrow alleys lined by arrays of colourful fruits, materials, and people everywhere. We loved it, we never felt at all threatened (we're mid fifties and very obviously tourists!) but we did start to feel overwhelmed after an hour or so, the crowds are seemingly never ending, and the variety of wares is unbelievable. If you want an experience of real Manila, this is one not to miss. If you're a little too nervous grab a taxi to GreenHills shopping centre, which is a little like Paddies market in Sydney overdosed on steroids and SO entertaining.

Divisoria - manila's bargain mall & market

Not exactly next door, it took us about 1 hour to get there by public transport. It must be one of manila's favorite haunts for pickpockets and snatch thieves, but we fortunately encountered no problems. I would however not walk with my iphone or wallet in my hand or take out my iphone / smartphone or camera for snapshots too often. Other than that, the atmosphere is generally great and some bargains can be had. There is a good choice of products, incl. an outside wet and / or wholesale market with some unbeatable prices. Well worth a leisurely visit and you're almost assured to return home within one thin or another...

Big bargain here if you know how

Be there early when they have just finished the displaying. Time to go around and look for what was planned. I do not do street shopping. i only go to stalls inside the buildings. There are a lot items still cheaper than what you see in some malls. They are of good quality and in different sizes. Best go around first and do not forget the stall number and the items you have eyed. Maybe there are more that offers lower than the other. After the rounds start your purchases. If you brought with you your own light bag the better. All should be in one bag. A no no for small plastic bag you might miss to pick up one or two before going. Always keep watch your purchases and wallet.

Wanted to leave immediately

Why this market was listed as # 16 of things to do in Manila, I have no idea. Maybe my boyfriend and I ended up in the wrong part of the massive market, but we did not feel at ease at all. I'm well accustomed to different Filipino markets, having Filipino heritage and visiting different regions on multiple occasions, but this by far was the dirtiest, busiest and made me feel the most uncomfortable by far. The place was full of homeless people, beggars and pick pockets, which makes sense seeing as only a couple blocks away are large communities of severely impoverished people living in dilapidated shacks made of rusted corrugated iron and damp cardboard. Whilst trying to get out of the place, we went walked via an overpass which had electrical cables running through the stairs which gives an indication of the level of safety in the area. Not to mention that as a female I felt unsafe even with my boyfriend with me. At one stage some local men suggested I was a prostitute because of my Caucasian partner and yelled it out across the crowds. I was not dressed suggestively, my dress was a length well below my knees. Getting out of here was also a nightmare, we had to walk 15 minutes away from the scariest part of the market we'd encountered in order for a Grab (Uber equivalent) to accept our ride and there were no taxi's to be seen because of the incredibly small roads and terrible traffic. Would not recommend.

Not fo the Faint Hearted

Winding narrow alleys that are seemingly endless, ambient noise reaching a club Dj's decibel and smells unknown to man. The heart of Philippine nation's retail market, manufacturers and resellers source everything to supply and drive this economy. It is an incredible place to stroll through with architectural treasures rising behind walls of sales stalls. But stay wary and dress simple - dress very simple - as those business people will profile you and your diamond ring, if it isn't lifted from your finger first.

Haloookay!

TIPS: 1. Go there in the morning. There are a lot of stuff to buy and to choose from. You don't want to buy something out of haste because it's their closing time. 2. Make sure to bring a big stash of cash with you. Again, there's so much to buy and the price are really cheap and affordable. If you are going to resell the items, you'll earn more than if you buy somewhere else. Another hint: Most items can be bought in the mall but at a higher price. 3. Have patience. Fainting is a big no-no! The place is so big that you might feel nauseous and at some point, lost. That's okay, there's always a good Samaritan o help you with directions. Go around and look for a better item at a better price! You'll definitely save more. 4. Friendly tip: wear rubber shoes. You don't want your slippers getting broken because the crowd of buyers going to and fro step on them. (or wear slippers) you don't want your sandals or shoes getting muddy (it is!) during rainy days.

This is real Manila

This market is amazing for people looking for full immersion into a city and culture. The place has everything, and great street food too. Its a bit crowded and dirty in some areas, but nothing someone looking for real Filipino culture cant handle. I have read many reviews that this place is dangerous and filled with pick pockets not true. I would not wear a backpack but that goes for any very busy market area in the world. the people here are amazing and eager to chat it up with you. this place is a must see for any visitor to Manila! check out the fake goods, watches bags etc

Massive Flea Market

Divisoria Mall is all I heard from my teenage daughter throughout my trip to the Philippines anywhere I went she would say " you going to get that cheaper at Divisoria Mall " Yes she was indeed right. A lot of bargains and quality goods to be found. It is very crowded, busy and full, however very clean and pleasant. I made a purchase, stopped and left a parcel behind in another shop somehow a person found us in the venue and handed me my parcel. Amazing and honest I was shocked. The drive from our hotel in Pasay near the Mall of Asia took us through some narrow, heavy traffic streets and passed some questionable neighborhoods, but very glad my daughter insisted on going. If you don't like or don't do crowds don't go, if you up for a shopping adventure put on some comfortable shoes get some cash and enjoy yourself. We were warned by locals before we visited Divisoria to be careful of " pickpockets " to wear backpacks on the front of you, not to unnecessary use your cellphones and to leave your jewellery at the hotel. Just not to attract unnecessary attention to yourself. A couple of dollars (Peso) well spent and quality time with my daughter PRICELESS.

Best Bargains in Manila... Just be careful

If you are looking for the best bargains in Manila and are buying wholesale (usually 6 pcs. up), Divisoria is for you. They have bags, notebooks, pens, toothbrush, tools, scarves, underwear, clothes, blankets, mobile phone parts, toys, textile, vegetables, fruits.... name it, they probably have it. It is the center of trade in the midst of Chinatown. I usually frequent Juan Luna, Divisoria Mall, 168 and Divine Mart depending on what I need. Divisoria Mall is usually a bit cheaper and 168 a bit more upscale esp. the new wing. The key is to bargain, bargain, bargain! It can be quite fun really. Just be mindful of your belongings and don't wear any jewelry while you're there. Best to go with a local. Clean food and water and rest rooms are readily available in the malls.

Divisoria: A haven for shoppers / marketers.

I've known Divisoria by heart since I was 5 years old. My parents have taught me how to find my way and get the best goods in this market. I've known the place for almost 38 years... from the first row of native products to the last row of food products. It's where I learn the art of bargaining at a very young age. My parents used to give me a marketing list and provide me with staff to help me carry the procured goods. The toys and candies sections have provided me opportunities to earn at a very young age. They sell toys and kids goodies at the most reasonable price. For parents who would like to procure the cheapest stuff for their kids birthday parties, see the sections for toys and candies. They have the pabitin, loot bags, party decors, balloons, hats, etc. There are suppliers for what we used to call as " PX " goods (imported items from chocolates to soap, shampoo and shoes). The locally sourced food products including condiments / ingredients are also available in this market. I can get chocolate tablea and batidor for a special Pinoy hot chocolate from the first and last rows, respectively. We have our favorite meat and fish supplier who provide us our day to day food requirement and for special occassion specially for feast celebration (time to open our house for everyone) as a way of thanksgiving for all the blessings we receive. I can also get the best choice of dried fish and dried squid in one of the stalls in this market, and the price of which is even cheaper than the known source towns where I also had opportunities of going. More products are made available since its construction into a multi-level commercial establishment. It's a haven for shoppers for wet and dry goods. Because of this market, more commercial / trading establishments (wholesalers / retailers) and banks proliferate in its surrounding. It's where the suppliers and biggest importers in the Philippines are based. It's also the reason why cash flow on day-to-day basis is the highest in this area compared with any other place in the country. Ask every Filipino how it is to go to Divisoria during Christmas season. People just flock in the area for best buy. It's also the location of my reliable bank which serves both the vendors and vendees of Divisoria Market. Divisoria Market is one of the reason why my parents do not want to leave the City of Manila. They can't think of any market as reliable and affordable as this market.

Bargain capital of the Philippines

Ilaya, Divisoria has not changed still crowded, hot and hectic. If you are after cheap t-shirts, fabric, curtains custom made (bring your size), plastic home wares this is the place. You need to haggle, as a guide ask for 20% less the asking price. I was lazy, so I asked the seller what was their best price so we are both happy. We stayed in Ermita so we just took the jeepneys and it took about 10 minutes (outside of peak hour) to Binondo park. It is not really a park, it is just an open area with a fountain and statues of local heroes. It is where the jeepneys route ends. This is where we caught the same jeepneys to return to our hotel. What I bought: cotton house dress ($6), cotton sheeting material ($3 per yard), cotton shorts ($3), LED lights 3W with built in transformer ($4), pants (office wear, made of fine denim $20), necklace with lampwork glass pendants ($2), hopia (pastries with mung bean filling $2 for 6). For great Chinese cuisine, go to Lucky Chinatown which is just a block away. We had chinese noodles for lunch one day and then dim sum the second day at Tao Yuan Restaurant. My hubby who is English can not stop raving about the dim sum. They are very yummy, all the dishes we ordered. Tip: go there after 2 pm, everything in the menu is 50% off except drinks. There are aircon shopping malls like 999, 168, Lucky Chinatown all closeby. 168 and 199 are where you can find bargains. Lucky Chinatown is a bit up market and like SM Shopping Mall where you can find the name brands.

Tourists, skip stalls near streets, check malls instead. Bonus tip on haggling and souvenir

For tourists, Divisoria market can be a nightmare because it's crowded, stinky, and unsafe. But it can be a dream come true for shopaholics who love cheap finds, mostly products from China. So if u want to manage the stress of shopping here, skip shopping at stores near the streets, or street stalls. Don't bother to squeeze yourself along Juan Luna stalls if you're not buying the same item for half dozen or more pieces. If you're buying a few different items, go to 168 mall, 999 mall, Meisic mall, Citysquare. They are less crowded and they have security guard at the entrance. You can get lost in 168 mall because it's a twin tower with confusing entrances / exits (tip:take note of stall number instead of stall names) but the selection here is more varied than in Meisic or 999 and easier to haggle here. In all malls, you can haggle 20percent off item price. Most of the malls have the same items, and you can expect the same items to show up on other floors, same alley, neighboring stall, etc. If you've spotted Lucky China mall, items there are not cheap and u can't haggle there. Just go here if u need a decent washroom break and more comfy, fancy snack / dinner after a tiring shopping. Time of shopping: 9am-5pm. (By 6pm, all are ready to go.) Looking for local souvenirs? There's not really a specific stall carrying specialty souvenirs. But there's an outdoor kiosk located outside Citysquare, near bread stall and 7-11, they have woven materials there. But items are quite pricey too. Suggestion: go for personalized souvenir items like tshirt, mug, keychain, etc. These are available in 168 malls, ask info desk about tarp printing service. They usually do retail souvenir, and u can wait for the item within an hour or so.

Bargain Hunters Paradise

You can buy almost anything here, just beware of the quality of your purchase. Recommend purchasing from indoor shops versus street stalls. Carry your valuables in front pockets if at all possible, very crowded with a lot of bumping at times.

Divisoria or diviSORRY

Im from baguio and I've always looked forward to going to divisoria. Well I think it is in every girls " go to list ". The common facts about Divisoria are the following: 1. It is wide and very hard to navigate especially for a first timer. 2. There are a lot of pushing here and there during rush hours. 3. They offer a good variety of goods like " name it and they seriously have it ". 4. Divisoria offers cheaper price than usual. 5. There are a lot of pickpockets and snatchers out there. Beware. So here's what I've Observerved... 1. It is so much cheaper outside the malls and you get the whole deal about cheaper price if you buy in bulk or whole sale. 2. When it rains in Divisoria? Geez the roads are covered with grime and gunk 3. Divisoria is not just about cheap stuff and every cheap thing in the world. Nahh uhh. In fact as i round the vicinity of divisoria I found some sophisticated restaurants and some high end cloths. (yeah keep an eye on them. And sure they're legit) And so here's my tips for you guys 1. Walk divisoria like you've walked it a hundred times before. Don't look stupid people will take advantage of it. 2. List all of the things you want to buy and set your budget you might over spend. 3. Research about divisoria, there are tons blogs and vlogs in the internet. Specifically look out for where you could buy the thing you have listed. 4. Bring with you a map and mark the places where you can buy the stuff you've listed. 5. Wear very comfortable clothes. I actually wore something that I usually wear at home. And by doing such you will have better chance of having a discount. Also snatchers wouldn't pay much attention to you. One stone two birds. 6. Just bring a basic phone instead of high end one. It will save you a sack of worry. 7. When haggling dont ask for 10 Php off instead ask for a 50 percent off then reason out (student, budget, fare or move to another stall) if the salesperson doesn't agree then meet her price halfway 8. Do not be an impulsive buyer give time to look for cheaper offer. 9. (A follow up tip for number 8) You might also want to bring a pen and a notebook to list the price and the stall number. Okay, here's my final review divisoria is great and there are a lot of good finds in the place. And I can confidently say that it is a heaven for all girls out there and also for business owners. And it's a good place to see the different types of people, hear their conversations, understand them and view things from their perspective. You will be in awe of how different people think. ;)

Just keeps getting bigger

So, this has been my place to go for Christmas decorations..... just about anything else you would want. It has both retail and wholesale markets (multiple buildings) as well as street vendors. I have gone alone and with others, mostly have to keep a watch on your belongings as is crowded and pick pockets work the market.

massive place

During our Manila trip last September 6-8, we really manage to experience fun from the different places in Manila, from luxury hotels we checked in, from the old historical places, fancy rides, and alot more. And divisoria is one of the places where we've been. I never thought that the divisoria is a massive place, it was our first time to be there. And we are amazed on all the products in this place; very cheap. We definitely saved money from here.. lol. but I guess, for the first timer its not a good idea to go there at night time because we got lost looking where to find a taxi. I

The Source of All Retail in the Philippines

This is the place to go to, if you want to start a business or get cheap and haggled deals, There is no place in Manila that compares with such... Definitely a place to visit.

2012-04-03 19:40:17

shopping for less

Just don't dare go on special holidays specially Christmas coz' you'll just get pushed through the streets. If you want real bargain for clothes go to 168 or 999 mall and even Tutuban Mall because they offer more quality clothing than those sold on sidewalk tiangges. These malls also have food court where you can relax while eating on a budget. Try the chinese foods they're great and cheaper. Divisoria mall on the other hand offers wholesale price for every knickknacks like souvenir items. You'll get amazed to buy fashion jewelries for like 20php or half a dollar for a dozen. TIP: try to go as early as 7am if you can and you'll have the mall all to yourself. haggling is better on early hours because you'll be their first customer (buena mano), and they'll probably give in to your price.

Best Markets hands down

Been to Thailand, KL, Seoul, Taiwan etc and Divisoria is the best markets in the asia region no question. Everything is dirt cheap and better quality than other markets in the region too. Be prepared to sweat and be amongst the locals. Keep a tight hold of your cash and dont bring anything else of value w you =) have a good sun hat and some bottled water. day time is a sea of variety and at night it transforms into a meat, fish and fruit market (do not buy or consume anything from there unless you have a really strong stomach) great adventure, but always be very very careful, particularly if you stand out in the way you look. I suggest dressing down and taking a maximum of 10, 000 pesos. That would be a huge shopping spree there and is the equivalent of about 200 USD. Take coins for the beggar kids, usually 5 pesos that will keep them from harassing you all day. Have fun and good luck!!

Dangerous, but go for the experianced

A bargain market, sells everything from vegetables to fruits and the supermarkets have everything. To go there, take the Jeepney, which is an experianced ride if you are in the Philippines. Cost only php8, taxi will cost you php100 after bargaining. Part of the area is dirty, smelly, crowded and dangerous. Hold on to your belongings and for woman, do not wear any jeweleries (take off your rings, necklace, bangles, etc.) Snachers and pickpockets are around. Don't take photos, keep your cameras and handphones hidden) Wear simple, my Jeepney driver was surprised that we want to go there (100% looking like tourists) he advised to be careful as above. One of the passengers (look like a student) offered to follow my family, which he did excellently, to ensure our safety. Forgot to ask his name, thank you very much Mr. Student. Spend only about 30 minutes here.
