About Cork & Bone Bistro

After living and breathing The Chateau Lake Louise for the 13 years, Jarrod has brought that level of service and quality to Moosomin. We refuse to compromise on quality in our restaurant. That's why we source our fresh ingredients from local farmers and producers whenever we can coupled with fantastic local service staff. A true Farm to Plate dining experience. Verrassend en super lekker

Zeer verrassende kaart met allemaal lekkers. Wij hadden de spinazie en avoncadip, de New York strip en de carrot cake met home made icecream. Allemaal echt zo lekker! Erbij dronken we een lokaal blond ale bier. Samen met de leuke en vlotte bediening en de goede prijs, gingen we zeer tevreden en voldaan terug naar ons hotel.

Excellent restaurant by anyone's standards

Bloody excellent food - service was a bit slow (VERY busy) but attentive staff. Well worth catching dinner here if the opportunity arises - you will not be disappointed.

Look no further for a delicious meal and exceptional service!

We can't say enough good things about Jarrod and his delightful food! We were on our way to Whitehorse from Ontario (with our dog along), with an overnight stop in Moosomin. While en route, I was calling ahead to try and find a restaurant with a dog-friendly patio for our dinner that night. The first place I called was The Cork & Bone Bistro but there was a voice message that was a few days old, so I simply left a respectful message letting the owner know he needed to update his message. A short while later, I received a call from the owner. I really respect when business owners show initiative! He introduced himself as Jarrod, asked how he could help and then apologized that the restaurant doesn't have a patio. Anyone else would have left it at that and got on with their day. Jarrod asked if we were staying in a local hotel (" yes, The Canalta "), to which he responded that he would message me the menu and if we liked what we saw, he would happily bring it to us once we'd landed. That was the last call around that I made! We got to our hotel, sent Jarrod our order, and enjoyed a fabulously delicious meal in our room (after driving all day, it was so great to not have to go out again!). I had the Braised Lamb Shank and hubby had the 6oz Bacon Wrapped Tenderloin. Both meals were really yummy (the tenderloin was a bit sinewy, but that's a result of the abattoir, not the Chef), and we enjoyed them immensely. Jarrod is a consummate professional and we highly recommend you treat yourself to his craft while in Moosomin. Thank-you sincerely, Jarrod!

Experience did not match up to glowing reviews

My experience did not match the glowing on line reviews. The on-line menu and menu in restaurant did not match up, quite a few differences. Tip: Spaetzle (German style egg noodles) is not a pasta and is never made with potatoes. Based on the recommendation of the server (the owner?) I ordered the in-house smoked ribs which were ok but came with too many overcooked and soggy fries and not enough roasted vegetables (carrots, squash and no greens). One small soggy half-piece of asparagus sat upon the roasted root vegetables looking like it perhaps shouldn't have been there. I'm thinking of giving this restaurant another try as perhaps this was an off-night and they may have better dishes. On a positive note the garden salad looked and tasted delicious.

World class dining off the beaten track

The food here is world class. The chef bills the restaurant as international comfort food that he learned from colleague chefs while working in Banff. He hits it on the nail. The strip loin steak was prime rib level tender but done with a continental style cream sauce, and fresh asparagus. The schnitzel and spaetzli was overwhelmingly good and a huge portion. His on-tap regional micro-brew beer selection was outstanding. I would have ordered any of his items (tandoori smoked beef, shrimps alfredo pasta etc) but had set my sights on beef in advance. And alas, we had to leave Moosomin the next day.

A hidden treasure

We stopped in moosomin for the night after a very long day on the road. As it was the last night of our 10 day roadtrip, we wanted to have a relaxing dine-in meal. The restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel. We arrived and were seated immediately. Our server was efficient and friendly. The menu was not extensive but offered something for all tastes. Prices were very reasonable. We had tapas trio plate for appetizer and the feature stuffed chicken for our main. They both were fantastic!

A great find

Stayed the night in Moosomin, Saskatchewan and we were looking for a nice place other than pizza wings burgers Came across Cork and Bone and checked out the menu. Looked great. I had the ribs, my wife the Salmon. Both were great, perfectly cooked. Great service was an added bonus. Highly recommend it

Fine Dining Surprise

This recently opened restaurant in Moosomin (population 3100) exceeds all expectations of what " fine dining " in a small town would be like. It rivals the best experiences we've had in popular tourist locations or big city hotspots. The atmosphere is cozy and the layout open and neat. Our party of 6 was welcomed and seated right away, and were treated to a wonderful meal of items prepared in very different ways. Caesar salad - " deconstructed " ; beet salad, mussels; entrees of beef, pork chops, short ribs, and chicken-bacon roulade (rolled), which was a very big hit. Topped it off with three different desserts that we all sampled and had a hard time settling on which was the best. There is also a good selection of drinks to choose from, and he's hoping to expand this over time. The owner, Jarrod, takes great pride in his creations and took time before and after ordering to describe each dish for us. We loved that he sources as much of his menu from local producers as he can. He has many more ideas for expanding his menu and services in the future, and we wish him all the best. Please try The Cork and Bone - it's like the dining experience you'd find somewhere like Lake Louise, but right here in small town Saskatchewan.
