Our favorite
Our whole family literally counts down the months for Bob Jo's to open each spring. It's such a great place to treat the kids on summer nights! I love that the yogurt is a sugar free option! It makes it easier for me to justify going more often lol. Highly highly suggested!!
Just fun
Great place to go on a hot day. For custard been around a long long time. Staff great out door eating or in car area very clean. Just old fashioned fun
First time this season!
I usually drive by because it's always so busy and I don't like trying to juggle a parking space but i was in the right place at the right time sooo.... Strawberry Cheesecake Yogurt for me! YUM!
No One Can Beat This Custard
I grew up just down the road from Bob Jo's and was back in town to visit family. Two visits in four days HA! Would have been back if I had more time. Other ice cream stands / restaurants claim they serve custard, but I've never found any to compare to Bob Jo's. It should be on your bucket list, if you are in the area!

Best Custard Downriver for over 3 generations!
If you grew up Downriver, you very likely grew up visiting Bob Jo's pretty frequently. If not, it's worth a visit for a great custard! The business and surrounding property is small with a limited parking lot, but there's room to park or walk in from nearby. And many people do just that! I currently live about 5 blocks away, and like many people, I walk up to get a custard whenever the mood moves me. It's pretty neat to still be going to a place that's been in business since I was a little girl (who is now 67 years old!). I don't think you will be disappointed. I can't think of another place anything like it Downriver! Be prepared to wait in line, but it's one of those places where it's worth the wait. :o)
Best frozen custard
Friends had told us the best frozen custard in Michigan was at Bob Jos in Wyandotte. We had nodded politely knowing full well that our favorite in Northville was the best. Hate to say it, but they were right! We got there just as two women sat down with huge cones that were so big they were almost tipping over. Turned out that was the medium! We got smalls and could barely finish. The custard was rich and creamy and so smooth! Too bad the place is an hour and a half away from us. (Or maybe that's a good thing!)

Been coming here for years with my family and we absolutely love it! They're always so friendly and the service is always quick.
Things never stay the same
Lately, it seems everything has changed here. I remember when the large that you get now was a Medium. The taste has also changed, not sure what that's about. I used to love the Lemon, but haven't had one in years. It would be nice to put it on their board maybe at the beginning of the week, what days they have certain flavors.... The price is a bit high, but by the lines, I guess there are many that don't mind.

My wife and I must go to Bob Jo's once per week. We decided this year we would do a sampling of several highly rated frozen custard stands in Metro Detroit to see how they rank on our taste meter. Number one on our list is Bob Jo's. There is just something about the combination of creaminess, temperature, and sweetness that makes Bob Jo's stand out among the rest. You can't go wrong choosing between vanilla or chocolate or if you can't decide, get the twist. Our rankings: 1. Bob Jo's (Wyandotte) - Perfect combination of taste and texture without being overly sweet. 2. Golden Cone (Royal Oak) - Close second, served a little colder. 3. Erma's (multiple locations) - The toppings make Erma's stand out. 4. Custard & Co. (Royal Oak) - Good place for Woodward car watching, a little too sweet. Still need to try Custard Hut in Dearborn Heights and Wally's in St. Claire Shores but there's always next summer.

Black Cherry was awesome!!!!
It's been a long tone since we can here since we had do much bad luck last year here. We decided to get it another go during their weekend Black Cherry Custard special. We absolutely loved it!!! They did a great job with the flavor!!! Can't wait till they have it again!

Best frozen custard!
Bob-Jo's has been around a long time. Why? Because the frizen custard is if the highest quality. You will not be disappointed when you taste their creamy frozen perfection. I bring family here from out of town and they always want to go back whenever they visit. Our only disappointment is that they are not opened all year round!
Bob Jo's is always a good idea!
Custard is always fantastic. Line can be long on hot days or holidays. They have 2 revolving flavors each week in addition to chocolate and vanilla. They are cash only.

Best custard ice cream in downriver area
Once you have ice cream from Bob Jo's you will never go anywhere else. If there is a drawback, it is the limited parking there. Everything else is fantastic!

Excellent frozen custard!! Can't go wrong with the vanilla cone and toasted coconut! Lines can get long on those hit summer nights, but it is worth the wait.

I've been going to Bob Jo's since I was a kid. Nice to take my daughter to the same place; which hasn't changed a bit. Great memories to share and enjoy making more with her. We always get the same thing-chocolate custard in a cone with toasted coconut -Yum ! Thanks for many sweet memories....
used to be good now not so much
used to go multiple times a month but it seems like a recipe change or something, but the more recent visits this year the dessert was less than satisfying and left a after-taste. Wasn't impressed with it this year.
Simply the Best
I moved out of Wyandotte 30 plus years ago, but I certainly remember coming here as a kid with the family, back in the '50's. It's probably been 8 yrs since I was here last. I couldn't believe that the place has not changed one bit, and glad the Custard hasn't either. We have custard places where I live, but this is still the best. It is so creamy and smoooooth. Wish I could get here more often.

Simply the BEST frozen custard in southeast Michigan. This little place has been here as long as I can remember. I used to go here as a kid with my parents. They have most all the ice cream treats, but the frozen custard is what they are known for. Only open seasonally. No the healthiest treat on the planet, but the best tasting treat on the planet.

been about 10 years since I was here last
Went with relatives in area, kids & grand kids from outta state. We have not lived in S. E. Michigan for years. Bob Jo's is a great place, great custard etc. i even bought a " Boston Cooler " (vanilla ice crean & vernors). Nostalgic place but a great place to stop for a treat!
Taste of Downriver!
This placed is always packed in the summertime with locals from 1-100! They have the best frozen custard around, hands down! Everyone knows this place. They have flavors that all can enjoy and weekly flavors throughout the season. The lines may be long at times but no one seems to mind as they quickly accommodate everyone. We go several times a week.
Just driving by
I try to take visitors to Bob Jo when ever someone new comes to town I have been going there since 1952. We would pill in the back of my uncles truck in the evening and go get an ice cream. It was a real treat and still is I can't stop telling people how great it is and fun
Summer Treat!
Locals wait patiently for BobJos to open every Springr. And we grieve a little when they close each Fall. Their flavors are good and creamy. The cones are piled so high you're sure they'll fall over; but that don't. My only complaint is that they don't change their flavors often enough.

This is the best custard. The perfect texture and flavor. You can pick from vanilla, chocolate, swirl of both vanilla and chocolate or a flavor of the month. It may not seem like much more than a small roadside stand, but one taste is all it takes.

Just a custard joint but ohhh so good! Daily special flavors. I like the toasted coconut coating on vanilla. Busy later in day but fairly quick.

Bob Jos is a downriver icon. You know summerbis coming when Bob Jos opens. The toasted coconut custard should be served to depressed people because it's a reminder of things that make life worth living.

The staff is friendly! The custards are delicious ! We had orange creamed custard and my husband had vanilla custard in bowls! I had never been there before! They have been there 70 yrs! My friend was telling me about it! Thank you to her!We will come again! We are going try the Sundae custard next time ! Yummy topping on the Sundae!
Downriver landmark
This has always been one of our favorite places to go for our frozen treats. My only complaint would be that most of the extra yogurt flavors really don't hit the mark but there's always vanilla to fall back on.

I always get the medium twist. Toasted coconut is awesome as well. Always a line on the weekends or nice days but it is worth the wait. Lines move quick.

This is a must try custard shop. Very popular to this area. Vanilla with toasted coconut topping is the best. I los love the chocolate vanilla twist. They have flavored custard that changes weekly. Lines can be long is the summer especially in the evening. Don't let this hold you back, because the lines move fast. Prices are average.

Bob Jo's is closed until spring but with the weather in Michigan heating up and temperatures breaking records, it's time for a Bob Joe's frozen custard.
Bob Jo's is Best!
One of my favorite summer treats is a frozen custard twist with toasted coconut. Bob Jo's just closed for the season, so I now have to wait a very long time for my next frozen custard fix.

Best Custard Around
This little frozen custard stand has been around for almost 70 years and I know why. It is amazing! They have a flavor of the week (pistachio and lemon are by far the best), vanilla, chocolate or van / choco twist in custard. They also have a flavor of the week in frozen yogurt but to be honest never tried the yogurt. When I go its custard every time. Heads up. Cash only.

We had the pleasure to be there for opening day this spring -- it was 30 degrees out and windy and rainy and cold but that didn't deter us! I had never had frozen custard before. I was there 5 days and we went back for custard 3 of the 5 days. It was the most creamy, heavenly taste ever! I am pretty sure people drive here from all over. The flavor of the day was toasted coconut and I also caught some boysenberry and both were absolutely wonderful. (They have lots and lots of flavors if the flavor of the day isn't your cup of tea...)
The Best Frozen Custard in the Universe
Nothing beats a tasty frozen custard from Bob-Jo's on a warm summer afternoon. It can be crowded on the weekends so visit Monday through Thursday if you can. A wonderful Downriver Detroit tradition since 1947.

Anytime we visit Michigan, Bob Jo is one of the first places we head to. Having moved away from Michigan many years ago, Bob Jo is one of the things we miss the most. It is still the best frozen custard that we've ever had and has been a family treat for 4 generations. It is a " cash only " business, and even though it is almost always busy, the line moves pretty quickly.
Always hits the sweet spot
This place is a dont miss if u are near. They change their flavors and I hope u are lucky enough to go when they have pistachio. Sooo good with coconut. I think the only flavor i didnt like was strawberry or blueberry cheesecake. Enjoy!!
Got food poisoning
The custard was tasty but unfortunately I got food poisoning a few hours after our visit.
Best ever but pricey
Best custard ever in the world, but the price is getting to be too much while the servings are getting smaller. The lines are very long but move fast. The staff are friendly. If it wasn't for the rising prices!!! Sanders was a household MUST until they priced themselves out. Please don't! 😢
Local Favorite
There probably isn't anything I can say about this place that hasn't been said before. People look forward to Bob Jo's opening day even more than baseball opening day. It's a local favorite. The menu is pretty confusing so I don't bother getting anything but the special custard flavor, although they do have other things like frozen yogurt and you can add things like sprinkles and toasted coconut to your cone.
