Neglect

We called and reserved a suite days in advance but when we got there with the family, they said the suite was now unavailable and we had to pay more for a deluxe. What's the point in a reservation if it's not actually reserved and why should we pay more when they told us it was a lower price? Nice place but staff are severely untrained and borderline rude. When we sat down to eat, no one greeted us for 10 minutes, eventually we had to go find them, while eating, no one came out to check on us. Later that night when we asked for an extra towel, then said they couldn't because our room was for just 2 people (we paid 7k for a 4 person room). I don't know what's wrong with those people. Logic and hospitality elude them. It's like they were playing a prank joke on us but there was never a reveal, just a lot of money. Also, the bathrooms were dirty and the toilet ran all day / night. I notified them but no one ever fixed it. There was not enough water pressure to take a proper shower. The owners should get out of the hospitality business and apologize for the ugly stain they have created in such a beautiful area. My suggestion is to go 5 minutes up the street to visit Bearland.

A good place that needs attention

The place, in general, is good with a lot of trees and courteous staff. My only problem, which is very important for someone who wants to relax is: 1. The bathroom was dirty. Even if they cleaned it, the housekeeping was not able to clean the door slides properly. It looks like it has not been cleaned for centuries. 2. There were a lot of mosquitoes. We asked for a spray but they never provided one. 3. Our neighbors were too loud and noisy. Although not their fault, they should be making sure that all their guests are comfortable, and making sure other guests are respecting others, they should be going around and checking that out. 4. The pool was dirty. I just feel that I want to clean it myself. For that I give 2 stars for this resort.

Don't Expect

Requiring guest to chose on a list of breakfast but didn't served on the next day. The reason is fully booked and they decided to serve a buffet for all guest. However, buffet includes egg and ham only plus coffee or tea. No available juices that i put on my list during registration. Foods are not worth it. I paid P389 which is P210 to other quality resort and hotels. I expect quality foods but its really disappointing.. I paid php5000 room. Cr have bad odor with dim light. Room are hot and also experienced power interruption 1am we waited too long to activate their generator. Overall this is not relaxing place for you. Dont expect on what you paid.. Thanks...

Disappointed

After much debate we chose this location for our family reunion. It was in a good location and the pictures on the website and in advertising looked great. However considering what we experienced and what we expected this was a very disappointing choice. The pool- small. 5 people at most at a time comfortably and the kids section was green in colour ick! There were no loungers or any seating poolside just an empty deck so forget sunbathing to pass the time. Speaking of passing the time... very limited activities. There was a yoga instructor who was lovely but other than that nothing organized by the resort. This resort had very limited food options. We had breakfast provided-if u were willing to wait. Waiting for breakfast was a real time waster in the morning and expect cold coffee. We stayed for lunch one day instead of leaving the resort and pretty much was told -no pizza, no fries, no nothing advertised on menu. All out apparently or unavailable? As part of our reunion we paid per per person for our dinners (definitely more than what we got). The food was forgettable and not good. Disappointed overall

Management and amenities are as ugly as the beach

Before I go into a rant, I'd like to point out that the service staff (below management and supervisors [if they even existed]), tried their best to accommodate. But it is obvious that management directive is keeping them from providing satisfactory customer service expected of a resort that brands itself as " boutique ". We stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights for a grand family reunion between (Jan 03-06 2019). I will outline and categorise everything that could be improved in this resort. 1. MANAGEMENT - No one seems to be in control of the resort. Everytime we wanted to speak with a manager, they would refer to a " boss " who was never on site to deal with customers directly. 2. PRICING - This resort charges for everything even after paying an exorbitant per night fee of an average of P4500. To put things in perspective, I stayed in Shangrila Makati for around P6000 per night but that included a huge breakfast buffet in the renowned Circles Cafe. Adhara is not even 3 star. - You want an extra pillow? You get charged P100 PER PILLOW PER NIGHT. - You want to use the power in the pavilion for an hour of Zumba class in the morning? You get charged P1000 PER HOUR (we contested this and they waived it). - A P60 water glass gets broken, you get charged P200 to replace it. 3. AMENITIES - Rooms are old and worn, bathroom lighting is too dim on top of the fact that the bathroom we got had dark tiling on the walls and floor. Fridge is barely working. - There are no chairs and beds by the swimming pool. Just a bare deck. We didn't even bother finding out if they have towel service as they would likely charge us extra for it. No Lifeguard on duty. - No Wifi in the rooms, only at the cafe. 4. CAFE, BREAKFAST, and DINNER - 60% of the menu is not available, so what's the point of a menu? Better to just write it on the wall as whatever's available won't take too much space anyway. - Breakfast is a NIGHTMARE. They require you to provide a checklist of what you would like for breakfast the next day so that they can " prepare " it beforehand. But when breakfast comes, you still have to wait 45 mins to an hour only to be served cold, hard food. I don't get this. If I'm waiting for an hour, I should at least be getting hot food. - We are charged P500 per head for catered dinner but each plate tastes and looks to be worth nothing more than P250. We had catered dinner in Hotel del Rio on Jan 8 and had to pay P500 per head as well, but that at least included tasty and generous servings of hot food and cold drinks. I don't write a lot of reviews unless I feel strongly about an experience. In fact, 90% of the reviews I've written here are positive. So for me to get online and write a strongly worded negative review really speaks to the sub-par service we have received from Adhara resort. If we were charged P1500 per night, none of this would have mattered as we would know exactly to expect this kind of service.

Great experience

Stunning resort combined with friendly staff and well-picked day activities. If you want to relax and leave all the daily stress behind - this is the place to be. There are also Yoga and meditation offerings FOR FREE which is a big bonus.

ADHARA ECO BOUTIQUE RESORT: SERENITY BY THE SEA

Adhara Eco Boutique Resort is a peaceful earth - friendly resort whose main aim is to promote tourism while maintaining it's sustainability towards an Eco - friendly environment. That by using and consuming natural organic products without the guilt of adding problem to an already huge environmental dilemma we are facing right now. The serene yet uplifting ambiance of the resort is complimented well by the sound of sea breeze as the howling of the wind make a musical note to the ears. It is a perfect getaway to those who want a peaceful but meaningful sojourn with their family. Adhara offer some Eco - Friendly activities to it's clients like massage spa, water sports like snorkeling, skim boarding, volleyball, football and even feeding of turkeys and peacocks. They also have Day tour and Eco Moves programs.

A lovely sanctuary near the city

If you're looking for a quiet refuge near the city, Adhara fits the bill. You can enjoy a quiet stroll around the beautiful beachfront property, take a dip in a pool with verdant scenery, schedule a massage in the comfort of your room, or attend meditation sessions led by Thai monks! All their villas are beautiful. If you have extra funds to spare, book the Deluxe Ocean Villa. It is worth every penny. Breakfast and snacks are ok though I hope they can offer more choices in their event packages. There were a quite a few snags when we stayed there for a training but hats off to Ms Allen who handled things very well. And because they have environmentally sustainable practices, like maintaining the lush greenery organically and using natural cleaning products, I have forgotten the few inconveniences I experienced. Will happily go back given another chance.

excellent stay, wished we stayed longer, and had a car

Couldn't recommend this resort more! I love the room - the elegantly designed villas, the invigorating green surroundings, the pool! The food is filling. I recommend you try the Filipino breakfast with vinegar dip on the side. I also recommend you try glamping tents! Would really love to go back, maybe with a car next time, because the resort is quite a walk from the main road!

Worst Ever

Two words: QUE HORROR! This is one experience I will always go back to when choosing a hotel. Don't ever be deceived by location (ex. beachfront) and photos. We checked in early after traveling all the way from Baguio. The only saving grace this resort has is it's pleasant staff. We were assigned a room at the very end of the property which I found bizarre considering there was hardly anyone else at the resort. To our disgust, the toilet still had evidence of its former occupants. After requesting to be moved to a different room, we opted to have our lunch at the restaurant while they prepared our accommodations. The food was overpriced and not good, period! After our disappointing lunch we thought we could finally rest after a full day of traveling. As luck would have it, my husband informed me that there were 3 humongous cockroaches in the bathroom! That was the last straw! I made arrangements for another hotel to pick us up immediately. One of the worst experiences in all my travels!

Great for families!

Choice of pool or beach makes this resort a very good option. Entrance fee is consumable for cottages, food or other activities. Very good place as it is not too crowded like other resorts. Pool nd beach area is clean.

Awesome place to relax

My friends and I stayed at the resort for 2 nights during our vacation in Iloilo. The place is very cozy and makes you feel like you're closer to nature with peacocks and turkey roaming around the resort. What I also love about the resort is that it has cabanas / cottages overlooking the beach where you can take your meals. The beach was murky when we visited probably because of the weather (twas raining) but it was still good since their pool is great. Their staff is very helpful. They even waited for us to arrive (at 10pm) for checking in. As for the food, it was also good. Will definitely go back here.

Adhara - August 25-27, 2017

We had a terrible experience in this resort when we stayed there last week. Very poor customer service. We arrived at 10am and dropped our bags since we will be going around Iloilo and check-in will be at 2pm, When we came back at 4pm our rooms were not yet fixed and they only started fixing it when we arrive, most staff were OJTs and did not know what to do. We were asking for a manager and they said they are in a meeting, what welcome surprise. We had to ask for everything we need like towels, chairs, etc. The area was so dark at night and there were only about 2 person on duty - housekeeping people that can not answer and attend to what we need after 7pm. The place has high ratings but our experience proved it wrong - NEVER go to Adhara to relax because your will be very DISAPPOINTED!

Amazing Vacation with friends!

Was on a vacation with friends in the resort. I love the villas in the resort especially the very spacious room. We were in a deluxe villa and it was very spacious. I also love the beachfront cottages where you can have your meals. Even though we didn't get the beachfront villas, it was alright because all of the villas are just a few steps away from the beach. You may get to see horses, turkeys and peacocks roaming around the resort which is so cool! The food was also good. I recommend that you order their Grilled Liempo. Juicy and tender! Their staff is very friendly and very accommodating too. I would say that I had a really fun long weekend in the resort and would consider going back.

A place for a romantic getaway

If you are looking a place where you can have a full relaxation, Adhara Resort Boutique is the best option for you. Away from the hustle and bustle, but just a few minutes away from the city, this resort makes an ideal weekend getaway for your loved ones. The rooms are spacious and private, while the staff are friendly and directly answer your needs. The whole place is peaceful and quiet, thus, guests will surely find the solitude that they are looking for. The food are also great as they are offering healthy and organic options at reasonable prices. The beach is so calm that you can do so much activities aside from just watching the beautiful surise and sunset of Southern Iloilo. If you don't want to go to the beach, they have a pool where you can have a cool dip. Looking forward to more improvements in terms of the resort's amenities and other services like its diving and tour activities and eco-friendly facilities which I heard will be launched in the coming months.

Pessimo

Key.

Toilet wall was dark and lighting was poor. Please replace key holder ring to avoid losing keys. An hour of power interruption that affect planned activities. It's unfortunate that the generator set was non-functional. Have it regularly checked.

Comfy stay

We booked 2 rooms, one was the regular suite and the other was executive suite. We came with our old parents and wanted to show them where we got married in 2012. The view is amazing from our parents' bedroom (executive suite) though the room is a bit pricey. The surrounding looks the same as when we last came and had our wedding in the beach side of Adhara where we booked at least 8 rooms. We could tell that the ground maintenance is good but one thing we noticed that some parts of the resort is starting to show age and neglect. The staffs are very helpful and accommodating but the only downside is the maintenance of the whole hotel which is I think out of the responsibility of the staff but rather the owner or manager. We could see that the bathroom is clean but the shower heads are not working well and hot and cold water and pressure are not OK. Some of the lights in our room was not working, and the bed case showed age and neglect. Also, some of the plates in the restaurant are chipped, that should not be acceptable in the resort industry. On the other hand, the food service is good, cooking is delicious but less choices though. I hope that the owner / manager will see that the neglected maintenance of the resort because i could see that the staff and cleaning people are really working hard.

Iloilo getaway

My family and in-laws all stayed at Adhara, 9 of us altogether. It was my in-laws first trip out of Australia to another country and I picked this resort based on other reviews as there isn't a lot of resorts of the same quality in this area. The resort is very clean, staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help you. Especially Julius who was wonderful in helping all of us. The grounds of the resort are beautiful, well maintained and right on the ocean it has wonderful wildlife such emus, tortoises and horses. The resort provides many activities although we opted to do a lot of the exploring ourselves. We initially stayed in the deluxe room but they had a special upgrade and we were transferred to a suite, I highly recommend booking a suite over the deluxe room it's definitely worth the extra dollar. The room is expanse with a separate room for the bathroom, the bedroom has 2 double beds with modern furnishing and housekeeping can come daily if you ask. It also has its own balcony viewing out towards the ocean which is spectacular to sit and watch the sunrise or sunset. The only down side to the resort is the restaurant is quite slow we often had to wait more than an hour for our meals, depending on what you want for breakfast a few things on their menu often was unavailable but if you don't mind the wait the food is generally good. The only other downside was the hot water, showers were often a hit or miss with their hot water service often it's quite humid thus cold showers can be a welcome reprieve from the heat. In terms of transport it is quite expensive through the resort, we hired a private transport van from Susie star tours, we had an amazing driver named JoJo who had wonderful local knowledge of the area. (3000 php per day plus petrol &tip; divided by 9 of us worked out to be quite inexpensive). We went to guimeras island truly beautiful, it takes a whole day starting around 5:30-6am but worth the visit, white sand beaches with clear water and definitely go snorkelling to see the coral & beautiful fishes. Other places to see Guimbal Spanish watch towers, SM Iloilo city and unfortunately we ran out of time but gigantes should be on your to do list. If you like historical sites St Anne's church in molo & lizares mansion are both amazing in their architecture and history.

My Wedding

Having our wedding reception here was a big, big mistake! I was warned but I did not listen. POOR quality of food, bad service, poor management. Don't book any event here! Overpriced rooms, RIPOFF!!!!

Nice resort, good for a refreshment stop

Stopped off at this resort on the way from Oton to Guimbal. Some TA writers have said it is hard to find, but I beg to differ as it is clearly signposted and the location correlates to the TA map if you are using 3G for guidance. Grounds are nicely laid out and the swimming pool was clean with children enjoying themselves. The nipper huts to rent look good but we were not planning on stopping so long. One of the main points of advertising for the resort is the beach, which I must say I find disappointing - no golden or white sand here - just shale. Lots of little crabs which have great camouflage. Several horses in the grounds - all quite emaciated. The villa's look good. As I wasn't staying there I cant comment on the regulations regarding brining in of food, which seems to be prohibited and a gripe with some. Native boats will pick you up and take you for a boat ride it seems. As I had a schedule for that day I did not partake of the offer. The next beach which is free access looked as good as this resort one. Nice breeze and nice clean grounds and corridors. Our refreshments taken in the main restaurant were good and the staff were very pleasant. Charges were reasonable.

Relaxing Getaway

We came here last Easter Sunday of 2015, and its crowded but still relaxing since they have a spacious area and lots of cottages. We did not book a cottage or room, we just went straight to the resort and luckily, we were able to get a 300 peso cottage at beachfront. They have a swimming pool, entrance fee is P100 / person but is consumable. Outside food is okay but they have corkage on alcoholic beverages and sodas. They also have a small restaurant and canteen, also have overnight rooms but nightlife here is not really interesting. I recommend if you visit here, bring some food and drinks because its bit pricey if you order at their resto. Beach is good for swimming.

2015-11-08 20:11:08

Excursion

Visited this resort for a day. Pool was a little dirty. Front Beach View is a plus. Food Service was okay but we brought outside foods so they charge us for corkage fee. Nothing special with this resort. Taxi is not very convenient and charges you 350-400 because they are outside of the city proper.

Perfect for quick " vacation " without traveling far

We've been to Anhawan Beach Resort countless times and we love the place - it is more complete and serene compared to other beach resorts close to Iloilo City. It was our first time though to stay overnight at ADHARA HOTEL and it was a gem! I love how peaceful it is and spacious. Great for kids to roam and have fun while parents can just relax. The whole property is not big but I think it is spacious enough for all guests. I think it is a local secret. It is hard to find a resort where you can spend a day trip with your family that is close to Iloilo but not anymore - I found Adhara. My kids had a great time!

2015-06-05 22:18:22

Too Bad Cannot Recommend

The resort (Adhara Beach Resort) is very laid back, very quiet and picturesque. Unfortunately, it is just that and nothing else. Services and food sucks. Beach is not good. Well, it is forgivable since Iloilo is not a beach place. I suggest you Just stay in a city hotel 🏩.

Disappointed.

This placed used to be our playground... we come here almost every year but since our son grew we haven't visited for some time until my birthday this year. What a disappointment! 1st, they don't answer questions, reservations, etc through their social media page; but since I wanted to celebrate my birthday there we still went. We arrived excited and hungry at the same time... 2nd disappointment came when they started taking our order and informed us that it'll take 15-20 mins but minutes after when I made a follow up, they sent another attendant and took our order again! Patience is not my strongest suit but since it's 'my day' I tried to avoid any negativity so I made the order again. 30 minutes later, our food and drinks arrived... we ate and celebrated. Then the 3rd disappointment happened; before cutting my birthday cake, we ordered some drinks again and requested for some glasses instead of plastic cups. They answered that their glasses are for rent! The attendant (an OJT but friendly lady) even informed me that the ice cubes I've been requesting has a charge! I thought she was joking! In the middle of hunger and the humid weather I wanted to confront the manager or at least the supervisor... She said they have none on duty for the day! There was even poop inside one of the restroom stalls and when the front desk clerk was informed about it, she just answered us that they don't have enough staff to clean the restroom right away! I'm not going to continue ranting about my supposed-to-be-happy-day but this establishment has gone too far in charging customers for almost anything! Sorry to say but I am not going back to this place again.

Great place to get away with family in Ilo Ilo

We went to the Anhawan Resort and Spa with family in late December 2014. It was raining when we went and so we didn't get to enjoy many of the amenities, but it was a great place to eat and talk. It was the nicest hotel we encountered in the Ilo Ilo area and was very much like a nice facility that one would expect in the Caribbean.

2014-10-24 00:13:00

Lovely pool, relaxing location, good food

Just a short distance from Iloilo City, in the beachside town of Oton, the Anhawan Beach Resort is a great destination for a day-trip or overnight stay at the beach. The pool is clean and refreshing. The food is excellent (try the shrimp) but takes a long time to arrive. The beach is fun to play in the waves and swim in. Next door to the Anhawan Beach Resort is a similar resort that is less fancy with horse rides on the beach, basketball, pool, and soccer available. The nipa huts rent for 500-1, 000 pesos but you will need one if you are not staying at the hotel. There is also an aviary with tropical birds and albino peacocks.

2014-05-16 04:58:49

Day trip only

Visited this place with my college batch mates for a day trip. Place has plenty of cottages to choose from. Most are nearly their pool (there's another one exclusive for hotel guests). The beach is a bit far these cottages. Separate entrance & " bathing " fee. Food is great. Service is good... Wasn't able to check out the hotel area though. Maybe next time.

2014-05-15 12:29:10

Great for Relaxing

Been to Anhawan / Adhara Hotel three times with my family or by myself. Its a very restful place outside the city of Iloilo. Beach is nice and smooth. The place is quiet. Service is very efficient, reliable, trustworthy. Sailing with a very red sunset is unforgettable. Food is okay. Dinner at the beach with wine is good. Great place to unwind after going around Iloilo sites. Different room types going from very affordable to " pricey but so beautitful ". Horseback riding, videoke available. Peacocks and turkeys walking around were great for kids.

2014-05-03 11:25:49

Quick getaway

The room and resort was spacious and beautiful, although the beach was not that nice compared to the white beaches of the Philippines, it did not lack the activities to enjoy your trip like the hobiecat sailing. The cabanas were a beautiful touch and the plants were well taken care of. They even had a mini zoo and a simple bar by the beach. We were also able to enjoy the videoke KTV in their reception / cafe area that night. Breakfast was adequate. Visited April 2012

Nice

no more entrance fee, bring your own food, wish they make larger pool and plant more trees for shade. Near the city, and you got choices between the sea and the pool. Ideal for office retreat and team building

needs improvement and slightly pricey

my family went there yesterday. entrance is consumable but items (foods, drinks, water, cottages etc.) are too expensive more than half the price itself. my kid and i went to the CR to pea and i found ou tthat there is no pail either dipper (tabo) inside the cr what i do is use the trash bin to flush the toilet bowl coz the flusher is not functioning. sad thing is there is a tissue holder but no tissue to use (its ok) my advice to the management pls put a pail and a dipper inside the cr for customer use in case... and there picnic huts some are ok but some are licking not yet repair but repairs on-going. one more thing the pool area has no fence for one entrance only you can get inside anywhere you can entrance should have staff to monitor tickets for those who will swim and should have entrance faucet for rinsing cleaning of feet before entering the pool area. wearing shoes and slippers inside should not be allowed to maintain cleanliness inside the pool area.

Lucy and Clive from ENGLAND UK

Pool was lovely to swim in, staff were friendly and very helpful, the owner and the general manager were excellent hosts, the resort was very peaceful and quiet. The food and service was very good would recommend it and we will come back. See you next year.

Great place to enjoy with family though slightly pricey

Went to Adhara Hotel as my kids aged 7 and 12 wanted a swim. Found out that the room rates were half the usual price and decided to stay the night so that we can swim until 9pm as opposed to just 5pm if we wanted to be a day visitor of the resort. Had great fun in the pool as there werent many guests at the time. The pool was fairly clean considering the outdoor garden location. The surroundings were nice and peaceful and we had really nice photos in what i would consider one of the nicest looking resorts in Iloilo. The staff were great, friendly and very helpful. The menu at the restaurant was quite limited and pricey for what you would consider basic fare. The cheapest room surprised us as it was quite large with 2 double beds and a large shower room / toilet. We had a great time overall.

Quick getaway

We booked in advance so that we'll enjoy the place at our own. It was just the 5 of us. We paid 300 for a day tour trip, consumable for food and other amenities available at the resort. They have their own aviary, mini zoo and other water sports. We're about to swim at the beach but there were lots of jelly fish at that time. So we just took pictures at the seashore. The swimming pool was nice with clear water. Their food was affordable and the pizza was superb! I love the place because it's just 20-30mins from the city. To add, the staffs were very friendly and accommodating.

The Adhara at Anhawan Beach Resort & Spa

Despite the negative reviews in tripadvisor.com about the Anhawan Beach Resort & Spa, my wife and I booked at The Adhara, a 24-room hotel within the beach resort. Our high school batch reunion was going to be in Anhawan anyway so it was more convenient that we stayed there. Our room, Baron 2, was huge with its own veranda facing the sea. Two large queen size beds, well-appointed room, clean facilities. Just 30 meters away was a big private pool for the guests of the hotel complex. There is also an exclusive restaurant and a convertible karaoke room for the daring. Gazebos surrounded by coconut trees adorn the complex. The special experience in Anhawan was the sailing sessions with Olympian Nestor Soriano who taught us how to sail in a Hobie Getaway Cat. We have never sailed on our own but on our second session my wife and I alternately manned the rudders and the sails and zipped up to 10 knots when the wind cooperated. The peace, the quiet, the speed, the ease and the experience is indescribable. Anhawan's beach is not like Boracay but the sailing is excellent. There are water sports facilities like jet skiing and para-sailing but hobie cat sailing is something else. When you are sailing, you commune with the sea and the wind. I was lucky to have a chat with the owner who happened to be spending the holiday there with his daughters. His plans for the resort are ambitious. Given that Anhawan has a beach frontage of more than a kilometer, immediate plans include building a big restaurant that will rival Breakthrough and Tatoy's and if plans do not miscarry, a 100-room midrise hotel and other resort facilities. A well-known architect / planner had been engaged do do the masterplan for the 18.5-hectare property with the longest beach frontage in the island of Panay. Iloilo does not have too many tourism resources. The new Anhawan Beach Resort has all the potential to become the biggest tourism destination for Iloilo and, most certainly, the sailing center of the Visayas.

Very expensive but not worth the price!

I was looking for a resort for me and my friends to relax and enjoy, like a reunion. I was actually considering other resorts but then I decided to choose this one as they offer a lot of " activities " and I felt that these would be perfect for us. When I got there, there was a security guard at the gate to check and one of the staff is also waiting inside to let you in the resort. They asked me to go directly to the " Adhara Hotel " or whatsoever, that's the name of the accomodation and its kinda far from the gate and the main resort, according to them the resort and the accomodation has a different management. So I went straight to the hotel which is quite weird because I just saw all these houses but I couldn't see the main office or the reception area and there is no one around to guide me or anything. I was annoyed because it's a waste of time but I just keep on walking and finally a housekeeping staff saw me and she offered to guide me around. i went with her, I asked her if I can see the rooms and we checked both the Standard and the DeLuxe. It's nice and clean. I was feeling a little bit relieved to see that it was okay anyway and went to the reception area which is near the swimming pool and their small bar / restaurant. I checked if they still have available rooms but I did not booked it yet because I want to confirm it first to my friends if they want to stay in this place. After a day we decided to take it and I called to asked if I can book their Standard room but they said that there is no available rooms, which is really strange considering that I did not saw anybody in that place when I checked it. They told me they only have the DeLuxe and the other 2 choices which is quite expensive already for that simple place. The next day I came back again and inquire if they still have a Standard room and they said yes. What the??? They just told me over the phone that there are no more Standard rooms available... I should've left and go to other resorts but I don't know why I just let it go and I just carry on with the booking. They explained that I have to pay additional 500 per person as their rooms are good for 1-2 persons only which is ridiculous as the rooms can fit 5 persons and they have 2 double beds anyway but I understand as it is really business thing whatever.. It actually made me think if I should proceed but I am trying to think it over and I said yes and regrets followed for a whole day of staying in that incredibly boring and very overprice accomodation! The next day I was already with my friends and showed them my receipt, (I paid for it full by the way as they asked me to deposit atleast half of the price and to avoid anymore concerns I paid the whole amount), they gave me another lame excuse that because there are 5 of us I need to pay another 700 for an extra bed... It's like a slap on my face. I already paid them full a day before including the 500 / person for the 3 extra persons, why can't they tell me that I need to pay for the extra bed???????? i was really upset, I really want to get mad and shout at them for ruining my day. So I just keep calm and try to act as humanly as possible and let it slip for the 3rd or 4th time... please I just want t enjoy my vacation!!! I paid them but it in my mind I was tempted to tell them that maybe this is why there is no one here in your freaking accomodation cause you're all so terrible! After that we went to our room and got disappointed again as there are 5 of us and we only have 2 mineral water in the rooms, no bathmat, no tv, no ref.. why did I went for these room? we just carry on with the horseback riding and more photos and went to the pool in the evening and again they explain we only have until 9pm to swim. Fine! We went outside to look for a place to have dinner because I don't to be disappointed again with their food and the price of course. We actually had a great time outside that resort, so when we got back again we plan to stay in their bar and have a few drinks and chat some more or maybe walk around for a bit. We checked the drinks menu and it was very expensive like really??? We decided not to drink and just use their wifi as it is only their in the bar / lounge / reception area where you can use the wifi. The lady in the reception was looking at us and I know she was thinking that we did not order anything so we might as well go out... and I was right cause she was talking to the waiter and then the waiter asked us to stay in the lounge cause they are gonna be closing at 10pm.. So we stayed in the lounge not long enough for them to tell us again that they're gonna closed the bar / reception so we had to stay outside along with the mosquitos. We just sat there and waited but they did not closed that stupid bar.. Truly unfair and we are their guests... What a place.. We got nothing to do at night. NOTHING... We just talked probably for an hour and went straight to bed. Next morning we proceed to the bar / restaurant because we have free breakfast and it was absurd as again it's only for 3 persons and the 2 would have to pay 150 each for that breakfast. I think there was 3 on the menu but there is only 2 choices available. After breakfast more photos and I was excited to get out of that overly price accomodation! Don't get me wrong the resort maybe good but DO NOT STAY in that ADHARA HOTEL!!! Not worth it... Truly regret the whole experience...

Good bur far from the city

The place is good if you need relaxation outside the city as it very far from the Ilo-ilo proper. The staff are accommodating, few are friendly. The manager and housekeeper that welcome us are the only ones I can say that were friendly during our stay. The rooms are big and clean. Modern style and they have housekeeping regularly so it makes our stay comfortable. The downside is, there's nothing you can do there, it's recommended of unwinding and a retreat. Didn't tried swimming on their beach as it seems like no one is swimming, the swimming pool is nice however. By the way our room was upgraded and we were very grateful.

Service was terrible

I was looking for a resort setting and this is not it. we planned on stying for a week but the first night that we stayed there I requested a type of soft drink they told me that they did not have it so my wife and I went into town to pick up my soft drink. when we got back we were informed that if the resort did not provide it we were not allowed to bring soft drinks, beer or food back to our room. Well that was enough for me to leave. so we got up the next morning to leave and they insisted that we pay for the whole week. our service was terrible and we were the only people at the resort. We finally left with the knowlegde that I would let the credit card company deal with them. (what do you mean we can not bring a diet coke into our room..... FAIL...

comfortable and serene but incredibly pricey

My husband and I stayed here for a night to relax on a weekday. When we called to reserve a room, they were specific that no food should be brought into the compound by customers. We requested for a room and they gave us the only room available which cost around 2700+ php per night, but it has no TV in the room. When we got to the resort, we asked again if they have available rooms with TV, this time, they said they did -- a superior room with TV. It costed around 3700+ a night. Big difference for a TV, but we agreed. GOOD: 1) The room was nice and clean, but no hot shower, though 2) The superior room has 2 queen-sized beds, a mini-ref and a TV with cable. 3) The pool was nice and since they only let people who stay overnight to use that particular pool, it was not crowded. 4) Friendly staff at the reception and at the cafe 5) The Day-trip area is separate so there are no noisy day crowds BAD: 1) There was a weird smell in the room when we came in. It went away when the aircon was turned on. But every time we come back to the room with the aircon off for a while, the smell is back. 2) The TV was practically useless. Despite it having cable connection, the signal is bad because the pictures were incredibly staticky. We should have gotten the standard room. We ended up not watching any TV on our first day. 3) Beach is not that nice, but it's clean 4) Kayaks were not available, despite of their advertisement. No explanation given. WORSE: 1) Service is sooooo slow at the cafe. We ate there around 3 times and all those times there were only one other table being served but it took so long for them to give us menus, to get our order, to bring us the food and to have us sign the bill. Geez. WORST: 1) Food prices are extremely high for the portions they serve. We ordered sisig (since a lot of the options in the menu were not available). It turned out that the serving was only good for one! We didn't bother ordering additional food since their service is so incredibly slow and we were so hungry. It was tasty though -- or maybe because hungry people usually find any food tasty? But a single-portion sisig costing more than 200 pesos served at a lethargic pace? Not worth it! I would recommend this to people -- but I will tell them not to eat at the restaurant. Allan's is nearby and serves seafood and is known for oysters. We didn't get to try their spa services since you have to make a reservation 2 hours before during weekdays.

Needs to improve ASAP to survive

If your biggest attraction is the beach, it boggles the mind why would management put a wall totally obliterating the view from most of the cottages. To survive, I think a resort / hotel should have 3 things at the same calibre- price point, ambiance, service / food. This place is not cheap- 6400 per night for the room I am staying at - yet I get a wall as a view, a request for a bucket of ice cant be met (there's no ice bucket available and what they have has no cover) and when you check in, hmmm... you carry your own bags. Granted the room is spacious enough. i do want it to succeed, Iloilo needs a place that can attract a certain kind of traveller with certain expectations. But it has to improve- start with knocking that that wall off. It advertises itself as a spa- yet there is no spa menu, and they can an outside person to provide massage if you want to getone. Sigh.

good for a day trip

been here a dozen times mostly for a day trip. very accessible from the city. entrance fee is 150 / per person and its consumable. you can use it for food or their facilities like horseback riding, swimming pool or water rides. will recommend this place if you just want to unwind and relax, great views for photo ops too!

Anhawan during Christmas 2010

We (2 adults + 2 kids) Stayed for three nights in Anhawan and the price for our room (Baron Suite for 6500 pesos a day) was acceptable and affordable:). Hot wather and pure Scandinavian style luxury:). The restaurant was too expensive compared to other resorts in f. ex. Guimaras:). The service was great. In a short notice, the owner helped us to get a car within an hour. A super tuned Toyota Innova for 2500 pesos a day incl. insurance!:) I can recommend Anhawan for short stays, especially if youre visiting family nearby, as we did during our stay, celebrating Christmas in Miagao (some 30 km from Oton). Before going to Anhawan, we were in Panglao Island, Bohol enjoying the white beach there. The beach in Anhawan is black and my kids was a little scared of bathing there. However, they have a great and clean pool:) Enjoy staying in Anhawan for short periods:)

Anhawan Experience

I like the place. Suitable for person like me who wants peace of mind and nature lovers. They are so accommodating. Even though that they have limitations and tight rules and regulation, they served the guest so well. They have this Ilonggo hospitality which myself as guest from other place find it unique. I experienced their watersports activity recently. I tried the sailing. And I want to enroll in their sailing lesson on my next visit. Another good spot in improving Iloilo. For me, excellent start for tourism.

2011-07-19 20:00:44

2.5 stars rating

I love the rooms and the tasteful decors which you do not expect to experience outside Iloilo City. Even the hotels in the city itself will fail short in the designs of their rooms. The manager is accommodating, and they are very courteous. On the otherhand, when we were having lunch at their restaurant, I saw that their crew was over extended. It seems that it is the chef himself who serve us the food. The food is served small. We ordered mixed veggies and one of my guest said that it is yummy but it looks like it is floating on an apple sauce. One colleague and client that I billeted there complained that the room for Php 6500 is too expensive. And it has no hot shower at the same time. Granting that they are seasoned traveler, I couldn't argue more. They really have to keep up with the standards even if it is lean season, coz when we were there, the beach looks so dirty and the grass was not cut. For Ilongos, putting up a resort as nice as these one is a brave step in promoting Iloilo, I know they could do more. Or perhaps they should address the feed backs found herein, for it will be good in maintaining their guests and promoting Iloilo as well as the next big thing in Phl. if not then it is a black eye in promoting Iloilo that way.

Overpriced resort with AWFUL service

I was with my wife " ShawieC " in the below review. I have several things to add to her review. NOTE: this facility is supposedly very recently " under new management ", so this is a WARNING to take the multiple positive reviews more than a month old (i. e. before November 2010) with a grain of salt. The huge number of incidents that indicate bad service seem to show that the new management is TERRIBLE. STAY AWAY. - Our $100+ room did NOT include any " wellness activity " like in yunesa's review below; not even any meals - when we asked if we could have breakfast with our double priced room (> $100), the front desk lady LIED through her teeth and said they didn't have a kitchen nor restaurant, because their customers are mostly corporate groups that bring their own caterers. They said we'd have to drive into town to eat breakfast (!).. and we didn't have our own car. We were stuck. I was incredulous, until... that evening we found out about the breakfast vouchers for the restaurant, given to other members of our party who had rooms with half the price. Then when we had our breakfast the next day, they told me I couldn't have a coffee refill, nor chopped onions and tomatoes in my omelet, because " it wasn't in the budget " ! (as mentioned by ShawieC) - the same lady LIED that the room phones were " not operational yet " - it turned out that the half-priced rooms had functional phones and only ours was broken - we were asked to pay for the room BEFORE checking in - it was a weekend and when we asked to talk to the manager, we were told that they weren't around and couldn't be contacted - we were there for a family member's wedding, and an agreed-upon amount of beer was purchased from Anhawan. During the reception, this beer came out in small trickles and they had to be called on it; I suspect they were trying to shortchange us. - the ballroom ladies' room was dirty - and had no toilet paper and we had to ask for it twice - I had to ask them to turn on 2 more a / c units in the ballroom; they initially only had 2 on and they weren't enough - they refused to open the back entrance to the ballroom for the wedding reception's caterer, for some vague, lame, " company policy " reason - as a result the caterers had to carry the food through the front entrance, threading their way past the guests - Anhawan had initially refused to make the 2nd floor bathrooms available for the guests, expecting the guests to go downstairs to use the bathroom - the beach is nothing special (gray sand, cloudy water), by Philippine standards - their " cabanas " (rooms in their own standalone structures) roofs do not have any venting, so when it's sunny and hot, the a / c struggles to bring the inside temperature down to bearable. It escapes me why any architect would not vent a ceiling space in the tropics. - the cabanas don't have a veranda facing the sea - almost nothing to do there - other beach resorts have windsurfing, banana boats, scuba diving, and Wifi access - the bar appeared permanently closed (November is low season) - the room had high windows with no shades and the adjacent room's patio lights shone in at night - grounds have few shade trees No wonder the room's bathroom was full of cobwebs. Nobody wants to stay there! The few positives - beach faces west so you see the sunset - their one smallish infinity pool is quite pretty, but no diving board - comfy beds In contrast, as an example, the Coco Grove resort in Siquijor, is half the price, has nicer grounds with more shade, has excellent food and service, has a bar that is actually open (with more drink choices), has a white sand beach with clear water, and has windsurfing, banana boats, good scuba diving, several hikes and islands you can go to etc.

Horrifying Experience

My sister had her wedding here so I decided to stay the night hoping that I will be able to recover from jet-lag pretty quickly. I checked in and paid Ph4500 cash for my room only to find out later on that my sister's room which is relatively the same as mine only costs her Ph1900. My very expensive room did not have a telephone and it did not include breakfast. My sister's room, which was half the cost of mine, included breakfast and had a phone in the room. When I complained about this, all they can say is sorry. I would have been happy if at least they gave us free breakfast to compensate for having to walk back and forth. To top it off, they didn't even have any vanity kit inside the room. We didn't even have a roll of toilet paper. I had to walk to the front desk and ask for one. Ir didn't even a hairdryer for pete's sake! If you go inside the bathroom, there were cobwebs all over. I guess I was being punished because I can afford to pay Ph4500 for a room! I can't believe this place was more expensive than Coco Grove in Siquijor which has 5-star accommodations. This place will nickle and dime you! We decided to have breakfast on premise which was around Ph150. My husband asked if he can have his eggs cooked with onions. I couldn't believe my ears when our waiter said that there is an extra charge for it because the cost of onions is not included. I asked for a 2nd cup of coffee and I was told that there is an extra charge for it as well. My God, for Ph4500 a night - they should be able to afford an extra cup of coffee for me, right! They didn't have internet access either! I will stay away from this place if you can help it. The staff were very well trained to say NO. As a matter of fact, they have mastered it. How this place survived, I have no idea! The only best thing about this place is the sunset. It was beautiful and that is probably why my sister decided to have her wedding here. Otherwise, everything else sucked big time!

Nice place for quick getaway from the city

We stayed here for two days and the place is a place of solitude if you are looking for one near the city of Iloilo. It is clean and well kept and the staff are courteous. However, the food is horribly prepared and expensive. I ordered fish soup but the fish is not fresh or overcooked so it exploded in the soup. The room rate for weekdays is I think expensive. I got the standard room for P3500 that includes 2 adults. I have to pay extra P1000 for two kids. There is no in room security box. Also you pay P150 each person consumable inside but you be careful to use it the same day. Big mistake for us because we don't use it right away. And to top off our somewhat dissatisfaied stay, the management has no courtesy enough to let us use the coupon the next day so we lost P600. It's a small amount but the management should value customers and make exceptions. We cut our stay. Again, if the room rate is around P2500 with no extra for kids, it is competitive with other resorts in the city.

Unbelieveable experience!!! Iloilo is the next big thing!!!

I went there with my husband and kids a couple of days ago and all I can say is that I had never imagined that a place like that existed in Iloilo city!! I was awed how it was transformed from what it was used to. We were greeted by our personal butler, Ramil upon arrival and he stayed with us all throughout our stay. I had been to a lot of hotels and resorts both locally and abroad and none of those experiences had matched the extraordinary service that Anhawan had provided us. The place was so tranquil and peaceful. The sunset was amazing! My dad is from Iloilo and we plan to visit again soon!

The place is a True GetAway, a 5-star resort experience

My wife and I stayed in this resort on Oct. 8-10 located in the suburbs of Iloilo City. We were pleasantly surprised upon arriving at the place. This is a true getaway! The place is a refreshing escape for those yearning to hit the beach without competing with the typical crush of sun worshippers in more familiar beaches. Families and couples and even big groups can easily relax in tastefully designed villas with minimalist interiors and wide verandah looking out to the sea. The staff are very courteous and accommodating. We had a 5-star resort experience that deserves a place on your summer to-do list. We are planning another trip to this place soon Marcy Quismundo, Makati City

Quiet overnight stay! just the best.

Out of curiousity i went to this resort with my family and my fiance, and my sister's bf. We had a lovely room, very spacious, nice decor and color. Very cosy and homey. Not to mention the aircon was " the bomb ". Staff are very friendly, accomodating and courteous. The place itself is very quiet and peaceful, my parents loved the place so much that they're asking me to visit when i come back home. The only downside was the price, a huge room is only for 2 people and you have to pay a fee for extra, cant bring food inside one thing. But not to complain, the food there was superb. Definitely we'll come back....
