Chicken wings
I would buy chicken wing all the time from this restaurant but they have dropped the quality of their chicken wings and I won't be coming back
Disappointing
The crab rangoons were good. The Tso's chicken not white chicken meat may have affected flavor. I like more meat or various vegetable in my egg roll.
Just plain rude
Missing part of our order. When I called they told me I was wrong, Look in the bag, they told me. I did, thats how I know our egg rolls were missing. They kept telling me it they were not missing and hung up on me. I called back because of their rudeness and wanted them to credit me back $3. They again told me they were in the bag. I put a co worker on (we were getting supper at the hospital), she told them that they were missing and that they were being rude. The guy on the phone asked her if she wanted to fight about it. Seriously, no, we just wanted supper. Never from there again.
Boring!
Typical cheap Chinese American food. Tastes like it's loaded with MSG. Served on paper plates and eaten with plastic spoons and forks. I thought it was wasteful and lazy! I am not from the area. Maybe locals know better but I was tbe only customer during busy lunch times. Price was right though! $6 For lunch!
Delicious for Take-out Option
If you want a quick, satisfying take-meal, this is a very good option. Food is delicious and menu has plenty of choices. Portions are generous. Scallops in garlic sauce were disappointing, though the flavor was good. Chicken with snow peas is recommended, along with General Tso's chicken. Have tried several other dishes too, that our family liked... fairly typical Chinese take-out. Fast service. Reasonable prices.
Surprisingly Good!
Small clean dining area, most of the orders are for takeout for this place. There is water and hot tea offered for dine in. They also deliver for a minimal fee in Iowa City. Delivery is fast typically. The Kung Pao Chicken is a favorite. They have decent egg rolls and the hot and sour and egg drop soups were tasty and hot. One of the best overall places for cheap Chinese in the Coralville / Iowa City area that we have tried.
My # 2 place for carry out Chinese
I have only had carry out from Best China. I usually place the order when I get there. Some times I run an errand to the Hy-Vee grocery store right across the street, or I just wait in the tiny waiting area. I never think the wait it very long. The other day I got the Hunan Beef, Crabmeat Rangoon, and Braised Dumplings. Pretty much the same order every time. The Beef in the Hunan Beef was kind of tough this time and the Crabmeat Rangoons seemed a bit small. The Hunan Beef was very spicy. The other meal we will get the most is a Happy Family dish. Also very yummy. Every lady that I have had interaction with at the front counter has always seemed very pleasant and polite. Another reason why I like visiting. I will continue to visit Best China, mixing it in with visits to my # 1 carry out chinese place.
One of my favorite Chinese places!
When I was a grad student in Iowa City, I lived a few blocks from this place for a year and I don't know how many times I ordered take out from this place. They have some of the best potstickers and eggrolls there. I really like their beef and broccoli and chicken lo mein. I'm so sad that I moved back to Chicago. This is definitely a place that I miss!
Average food, no MSG option
Average take out Chinese food. They do have the biggist selection of no MSG options in Iowa City. They will charge you an extra $1 to substitute an egg roll for crabmeat rangoon.
