The best in Stratford. Great location beautiful grounds and landscaping

What a wonderful experience, from the breakfast, To the spacious rooms, Beautiful view and the gracious friendly owners. Our second time there and we Will return next year. We enjoyed the fire pit in their landscaped yard and enjoyed the beautiful flowers.

A Touch of Class

Though circumstances beyond our control prevented our ability to enjoy this beautiful place, the owners went out of their way to find us a comparable property. Their service, care and dedication measured far and above our expectations. We will make sure to book A Touch of Country on our next visit!

Just lovely!

I go to Stratford every summer with my family and take in two shows in a day. Decided that driving at night was not fun so I was very lucky to have found this lovely bed and breakfast about 5 minutes out of the town. Third time staying here. Wonderful surroundings, cozy rooms, fabulous breakfast and great hosts. Highly recommended.

AMAZING!!

Mieke and Bob were fantastic. The room and bathroom was clean and the bed was heaven. The breakfast was amazing, I only had one due to an early train. Still worth it. I stayed whilst seeing a few theatre productions in Town, only stayed two nights. Wish I had longer. It's not in the craziness of a city centre, get breathe in some country air. Would recommend A Touch of Country B & B to anyone. Cant wait to return to Canada, to stay again. Thanks for everything Mieke and Bob.

Wonderful two night stay!

We visited this B & B for 2 nights this weekend as part of a anniversary weekend. Everything was 4*.. Our hosts were awesome and very welcoming. The property is very good, 4-5 min drive to all theatres in town. Parking is available in yard, The breakfast was hot and delicious. We didn't need lunch these two days as it was filling. Would return again

Five years in a row the same excellent visit

We try to attend the Stratford Festival every summer, usually staying two nights in Stratford. Through the years we have stayed at many excellent B & B's, but none have reached the excellent benchmark set by Mieke and Bob at A Touch of Comfort. The location is a quiet country setting away from the noise and bustle of mid-town, yet it is a ten minute drive to all theatres and excellent restaurants. The breakfast is always a gourmet treat to be remembered.

Enjoyed our Stay

Both Mieke and Bob are delightful hosts who enjoy interacting with all their guests. We immediately felt welcome. Our room was the Harvest Room - nice and spacious. There were extra touches - like a bar fridge in our room with bottled water and soft drinks, extra supplies in the bathroom like toothbrushes and toothpaste had we forgotten ours. Breakfast was delicious - with no worries about leaving hungry. The property is just a few minutes drive from the Avon Theatre - very convenient for us. I would recommend this B & B to others.

Third Time at TofC and loving it every time

Meike and Bob are wonderful hosts, and the breakfasts!!! Sumptuous and really creative. We have stayed in two rooms, both fabulous. Conversation around the breakfast table about the plays and the shops is part of the B & B experience. Meike makes everyone feel like the friends we have become. The weather was wet this year, but the hospitality makes that fade into nothingness.

Great Experience

Every June it became a tradition for us (me and my best friend from University) to go to Stratford for a show. This year we've decided to stay at A Touch Of Country B & B and we really enjoyed it! Starting with our adorable hosts, Mieke and Bob, the experience was truly amazing. The house is very clean and spacious. It is located on beautiful green grounds. Breakfast was very tasty, everything homemade by Mieke. We will definitely return to this B & B. Thank you, Camelia and Laura

Noisy... disappointing

Awake at 6 am with the traffic noise. Room acceptable but after years of B & B stays this one was very disappointing. We had booked a special room for a very special occasion but when we got there they had double booked and we did NOT get the special room. Will try somewhere else when we come back. House is nice but the hosts did nothing to solve our problem! Breakfast was fair but no choices for vegetarian and no choice of teas. Definitely not one of better B & B's we have stayed in.

Definitely the best B & B in Stratford

We stayed here last year and were so pleased to be able to get a reservation again. We stayed two nights last year with friends and 4 nights this year, so have tayed in two different rooms, both with en suite bathrooms. The Meadow Room is really special with its own patio overlooking the cornfields. Hosts Meike and Bob are so welcoming, Meike's breakfasts are absolutely super. She serves the hot dish first with fruit for " dessert " which is definitely the tight way round. As well there are muffins, homemade jams, and good tea and coffee. Conversation around the table makes your theatre experience that much more meaningful. Next year we might book this B & B before we get the theatre tickets. It is a little out of town, but with free parking in town that doesn't matter.

Very Gracious Host

This B & B is only a 5 minute drive from the Avon Theatre. Mieke was very helpful in recommending an excellent restaurant within walking distance of the theatre. Parking on the street in downtown Stratford is free after 6 pm, so we were able to park very close to the theatre as well as the restaurant. She was also very accommodating about changing our breakfast time since we had to drive back to Buffalo to catch a flight home. Even though we were the only ones there for breakfast, Mieke still put out a wonderful spread of lovely choices for us. This home is very comfortable and we were sorry we were only there for one night. We did not get to enjoy the lovely deck outside our room or the jacuzzi tub. It's good to know ahead of time that Mieke prefers cash or a check.

A Heaping of Hospitality

We stayed at this B and B this week and all reviews I read are correct: Mieke and Bob are gracious hosts, and welcome you to make yourself at home. They are a happy and hard-working couple who are genuinely there to serve their guests: giving maps and directions, restaurant recommendations; as well as cleaning and maintaining their lovely spotless home. The breakfast they prepared and served was gourmet and delicious -- a rarer find at b and b's. We will be back the next time we are in Stratford to see a play. Bravo Mieke and Bob!

Nice place on the outskirts of Stratford

Stayed one night while in town to see a play. Mieke was very welcoming and seemed to revel in trying to help us make sure we enjoyed our stay in Stratford. We were in the room above the garage, which was very spacious with a lovely bay window. The bed was comfortable. Having a fridge in the room with some beverages was a nice touch. The whole house was immaculately clean. Breakfast was good - Mieke had no issues accomodating our vegetarian diets. The house is on the outskirts of Stratford - about a 25-30 minute walk to the Avon Theatre and main downtown area. Most of the walk has a sidewalk and is actually quite pleasant.

Great B & B Vegan Accomodation Near Stratford Festival

Bob and Mieke are very kind hosts. The bed and breakfast is just a few minutes from the downtown theatres in Stratford. The rooms are beautiful. There are three different suites. Our favorite suite is the Harvest, which has its own in room bathroom. The Meadow suite also has in room bathroom, but the Country Suite does not. The bathrooms are equipped with lovely shower products from Bath and Body Works, which is great especially if you forget to bring your own. Mieke is very accommodating in creating breakfast for those with dietary needs. My husband and I are vegan, and when we informed the B & B ahead of our arrival, she ensured to have a breakfast made for us that met our diet. She makes a delicious vegan French toast and homemade raisin oatmeal as well. Definitely inform ahead if you have any dietary needs, and they are very understanding in accommodating. This is one of the reasons we return to A Touch of Country; but one of the main reasons is the hospitality and genuine kindness from the owners, Bob and Mieke. We highly recommend this B & B as a place to stay while visiting Stratford!

Lovely and immaculate

We were greeted warmly by the hosts, who are lovely people. Their house is beautifully maintained. Our room was quaint and comfortable. The shower was a little tight (but manageable)... the bathroom was small. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Breakfast was tasty (Quiche, sausages, bread, sweet buns and fruit with yogurt) and a nice variety of juices. This B & B is located 5 minutes from the downtown area.

Lovely place and gracious hosts!

We really enjoyed staying with Mieke and Bob. We have stayed in many B & B's and this rates right up there at the top. Their home is well furnished and yet homey. It was very clean and quiet. We wouldn't have even known there were others there if we had not been told! The breakfast was very good and you felt right at home visiting with everyone. We definitely will stay there again when we are in Stratford!

quiet, spacious, homey

Just on the outskirts of town on Downie St, a very short drive from downtown Stratford. Plenty of parking spots and asphalted driveway to turn around. I was warmly greeted by Bob and given a tour of the downstairs living and dining rooms. My luggage was carried up to my beautiful large air conditioned room with a huge private balcony over looking expansive fields of corn. I was also shown the upstairs common area that has a fridge stocked with water, juices and soft drinks. There is also a microwave, kettle and a coffee maker with Balzac coffee and assorted tea bags available. Back to the room; not one, not two but three large closets. The star of the show is that huge fantabulous jetted tub in the ensuite bathroom. It was perfect after a long day of a full itinerary of events in town, I would still be in that tub if I didn't have to go home. Separate shower and everything is clean, clean, clean ! Large screen television over the electric fireplace in one corner. 2 very comfortable chairs at a bistro table for catching up on emails. Full length mirror, taller than most. Wonderful bed linens and great pillows made for a wonderful sleep and the room must be near soundproof as I was surprised there were 4 other people staying there that night. Mieke's breakfast the next morning was scrumptious. Yogurt with fresh fruit followed the individual quiches that were full of flavour and a tray of bacon and a plate of toast served family style. No shortage of conversation covering a variety of subjects with people from various walks of life. I guarantee, you will be back.

Quite country nights..

We were first timers to the Stratford festival and seasoned B & Bers so we choice carefully and we're delighted with the hospitality we received. We took advantage of the hot tub, had a nice late night chat and slept like babies in our wonderful room! Breakfast came out home made and wonderful. We had another long chat - you can tell our hosts do what they do because they love meeting people! We will definitely be visiting again!,

Warm, comfortable stay!

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay at A Touch of Country. Our hosts Mieke and Bob were delightful, interesting, helpful, friendly but not intrusive, and warm. Breakfast was varied, delicious, and hearty. We had a lovely room with large ensuite and deck on the second floor. We enjoyed the relaxed, country feeling. Although we drove into Stratford, those accustomed to good walks certainly could walk into town. This will be our place to stay if we return to Stratford.

2015-08-01 01:21:04

loved the location, a mile from theaters.

the hosts Mike and Bob are extremely friendly, helpful (fun fun couple) we were a few couples and a single lady, all was perfect. i do not eat breakfast but a cup of coffee. in the morning so I sleep late. my friends said it was a good breakfast (not too elaborate) Beds were comfy, room very clean and the view of the corn field in the back of the house was very romantic. Definitly consider to come back on our next trip. I wish they would change mode of payments to include credit cards, not only Canadian currency. ) hosts Mieke and Bob were

Relaxing visit to Stratford

Our first visit to Stratford in quite a few years. Our former B & B no longer there. Found this online and enjoyed our stay. In the country about 1-2 miles south of downtown, remodeled home bordered by farmland. Attractive bedrooms, private or ensuite bathrooms, excellent breakfast served by Mieke (?), originally from Holland and husband Bob Doesn't accept credit cards so need cash or trav check

2015-07-09 11:21:18

Welcoming Hosts

My husband and I spent 2 nights in the room with an en-suite. The hosts are very warm and friendly which made our stay very enjoyable. The room is large and comfortable and the breakfasts were very good. The house is a short distance from Stratford and it was very close for us to go see plays.

2015-06-03 20:26:07

Had a great time here

The B & B is lovely, as are the hosts. Our bedroom was very nice. Comfortable bed, nice robes (didn't use them), big bathroom. Breakfast was excellent - we ate way too much. It is not within comfortable walking distance to downtown Stratford, but it was very close by car, and parking is cheap there anyway. Price was extremely reasonable as well. We'd definitely consider staying here again.

2015-05-26 20:15:04

Friendly hosts- Excellent stay

The BnB is just slightly in the country and is surrounded by farmland. The 3 bedrooms are all upstairs. Modern home with modern conveniences. Husband and wife both friendly and helpful. Good breakfast with usual fare. You will not be disappointed

A Wonderful B & B Experience

My wife and I stayed at A Touch of Country B & B for 4 nights during our stay in Stratford; we were there to attend plays at the Stratford Festival. This was one of the finest B & B experiences we have ever had. Mieke and Bob, our hosts, could not do enough for us and for the other guests. For example, one of the guests was a vegan. Mieke went out of her way to prepare vegan breakfasts for this person! Their home, which also serves as the B & B is spotless. The bed is super comfortable, the breakfasts outstanding and imaginative. Mieke is a wonderful cook and her breakfasts show it! The B & B is slightly out in the country, which is great; it is a five minute drive to the theatres of the Festival. The only negative about this B & B is leaving it!

Great stay!!

My wife and I were meeting friends in the Stratford area for only 1 night. Seeing that there was much going on in the area for this particular weekend, there weren't many choices for accommodation. We settled on A Touch of Country, and in the end after our stay, we were extremely satisfied with our choice!! There are many words to describe Bob and Mieke, funny, engaging, accommodating, gracious. There can sometimes be a fine line between being involved with guests and knowing when to let guests do their thing, and Bob and Mieke are experts at this. Their house and the rooms are very clean and well kept. Our bed was very comfortable. There is a nice common room with a small fridge and coffee for the morning. Breakfast was plentiful and very delicious. Was kind of nice smelling cinnamon buns baking as we were waking up. Their home was close enough to the city to be listed in Stratford but far enough out to be very quiet. Was a very nice touch to have a chilling bottle of white wine in our room when we returned from dinner. I would not hesitate at all to stay here again. Thank you Bob and Mieke!!

A most pleasant place

When our regular place was booked solid we chose this as an alternative and were most happy with the result. Our room was spacious and had a comfortable bed. The private bath (just outside the room) was very clean and its hot water was very hot! Our host graciously provided us with a bottle of wine and our hostess was very welcoming and clearly enjoys her guests. She is also quite the cook and provided home made quiches, muffins, and cinnamon buns for breakfast as well as rashers of crisp bacon. She enjoys her guests so much she shared in her guests conversations (some may not like this but we don't mind it at all). The b & b is about a mile and half from downtown Stratford and is not a quaint Victorian home but a contemporary one and we didn't mind that either. For Stratford their room rate is very affordable. One final note, this b & b operates only during the theatre season. Very highly recommended.

A Home Away from home

In 51 consecutive years attending the Stratford Festival my wife and I have stayed in a bed and breakfast probably less than a-half dozen times, electing instead to stay in one of the many hotels in town. This year we decided to do something different and are we ever glad we did. Staying three nights in the " A Touch of Country Bed and Breakfast " with our hosts Bob and Mieke Mueller was a treat beyond description. First the basics: their home is immaculate and beautiful. Our room was large and very comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious, consisting, for example, of quiche, sausages or bacon, fruit and home made sweet roles. And the best: Bob and Mieke. Their sense of humor is infectious and we enjoyed so much just sitting with them and talking when we weren't attending the theatre. We arrived as guests in Bob's and Mieke's " B & B, " but we left as friends. The " Touch of Country Bed and Breakfast " is our place to stay in Stratford from now on.

Wonderful Accommodations!

Lovely country home with spacious rooms, very clean and well appointed. Inviting common areas indoors as well as outdoor deck and hot tub. Easy access to downtown and theater events. Thoroughly enjoyed our hosts who were very accommodating of our departure time. Inviting breakfast dishes. Great value for this very comfortable stay! Highly recommended!

Lovely B & B and hosts

My mom and I stayed with Bob and Mieke in May of 2014 for 2 nights and could not get over the quality of service we experienced. From the beautiful room (with all your pampering needs), to the breakfasts that melted in your mouth and most of all, the kindness and conversations we shared with them. There would be no other place to stay for us in Stratford. It is about 5 minutes from the Avon theater and our room faced farm land which was heavenly. And the complimentary bottle of wine was a nice way to end the day with a book in the sitting room. We will be back as soon as I can make arrangements! It is worth the 3 hour drive from Buffalo, NY even if you are not seeing a play! Thank you!!!!!!

Welcoming couple with a beautiful home just on the edge of town

My wife and stayed here for our anniversary in October. It was about a2 minute drive from downtown. Meike and Bob were very welcoming with helpful tips for things to do during our visit. They made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was a delicious way to start the day. We're planning a weekend trip for next month and we're planning on returning to a touch of country. Definitely a great place to hang your hat when visiting Stratford

Lovely B & B - Gracious Hosts

We recently spent 2 nights at " A Touch of Country ". It is a sparkling clean home with very comfortable accomodations and just a 5 minute drive to all of the attractions. We stayed in the very spacious Meadow Suite and particularly enjoyed being able to sip a glass of wine on our deck overlooking the corn fields. We checked out the 2 other rooms also and, though smaller than the Meadow suite they looked very comfortable and well decorated. There is also a small guest lounge which would be ideal for more than one couple travelling together. Bob and Mieke are excellent hosts and we enjoyed chatting with them as well as getting tips from them on what to do during our stay in Stratford

Wonderful hosts, beautiful home!

My husband and I were in Stratford just this wkend, and " A Touch of Country B & B " was exactly what we needed! We were greeted very warmly by Mieke, and she led us to our room. It was clean, comfortable, homey. Perfect! She gave us suggestions about where to go and / or what to do. When we came home at the end of the evening, we had a chilled bottle of white wine waiting for us. The next day, breakfast was delicious! Bob and Mieke cooked us a lovely and plentiful meal, conversation came easy and noone left the table hungry.

Lovely B & B with gracious hosts just minutes from town

We stayed for 2 nights with the Muellers in the large and spacious Meadow suite to attend a wedding in Stratford. The room is enormous with a private deck and a large jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Breakfast was good and the atmosphere was welcoming and we were made to feel very welcome by the hosts Mieke and Bob. I can recommend this b & b add one of the better ones I have stayed in recently.

2013-09-04 04:00:45

Countryfied!

My wife and I spent several days recently with Mieke and Bob and had a wonderful time. Mieke was especially helpful with all things Stratford. The breakfasts were outstanding and plentiful. You are only minutes away from all the playhouses and eateries. Country living at its finest!

2013-09-02 23:30:40

A pleasure!

Super beautiful suite with a huge bubbly bath, bottle of wine, and a terrace overlooking gorgeous fields. Breakfast with the rest of the guests, pleasant and entertaining. Mieke took the time to make us talk and we were very grateful for it. One must drive a bit to go to the village, but it's worth it.

2013-08-05 12:56:42

A Touch of Country Elegance

We had the pleasure of staying with Bob and Mieke Muelle for a 3 night Stratford Festival weekend. A large, airy, sparkling clean suite awaited us each night. Breakfasts were fresh and delicious, with allowances graciously made for other guests with dietary needs. A mere few minutes drive has you at any of the festival venues on a very simple route. Starry nights made for an ideal hot tub soak on return from the theatre, as did the soaker jacuzzi tub in our suite, with the reward of lush, thick towels afterwards. A hospitality suite, stocked with beverages hot and cold, as well as complimentary wine, was an added bonus. Enthusiastic fellow guests make for interesting and informative tablemates at breakfast--discussing the plays, current affairs, exchanging life experiences. Everything that make you choose to stay in a B & B! It was a delightful weekend and we look forward to returning to a Touch of Country, where the elegance is understated, but so welcoming.

2013-08-04 15:56:18

Average

This B & B is average compared to others that we have stayed in. It is essentially just 3 second floor bedrooms that are rented out. We would not have felt comfortable spending time in other areas of the house. The location is not great. It is a couple of miles outside of Stratford so unfortunately one must drive to go to dinner, see a play, shop etc. The food was plentiful but average... frozen quiche, parfaits, packaged rolls etc. Our room was comfortable but tired looking. I felt like I was staying in my grandmother's house. The owners were pleasant. We will not stay here when we visit again next year as we have stayed in other B & Bs in Stratford that suit our tastes better.

2013-07-24 20:01:09

pretty good stay

We stayed with another couple on a last minute trip. Owners: -the owners are very nice - they even offered to get us discounted tickets to a show when they realized that it might be possible (it didn't work out, but it was nice of them to try) ! Rooms: -the rooms were nice and clean - we stayed in the Harvest Suite, which provided a great space for all four of us to spend time together (we loved the window bench). -the shower in the Harvest Suite is TINY - i don't know if we could have managed for more than a day or so! Breakfast: -breakfast was plentiful: drinks (coffee, tea, pineapple juice, orange juice, apple juice), muffins, sausages, quiche and a berries / granola / yogurt parfait. -the quiche is pre-made, so if you have food restrictions or allergies you need to let them know ahead of time (it has ham, asparagus, eggs and milk in it). i usually just ask for the ingredient that i can't eat to not be included in my dish, but that wasn't an option. actually, the same thing goes for the parfait (for those allergic to things like strawberries). there was enough other food that it didn't matter that i couldn't eat the " main " dish, but if that matters to you then mention it when making your reservation. Amenities: -there are very few B & Bs with hot tubs, which we enjoyed at night while consuming our complimentary wine.

A Touch of Country GEM!!

My husband and I have enjoyed coming here the past 2 summers. The house is beautiful, very quiet, only 1 / 2 a kilometre from Stratfords' city limits, but located on the same road as the Avon Theatre! The hosts were so accommodating, and very helpful in ensuring that our stay was enjoyable. The breakfasts were so plentiful that we never had to eat lunch.... money saver :) !! This Bed and Breakfast has everything that we were looking for, and look forward to coming back! Thanks again Mieke and Bob for your hospitality!

2012-09-18 09:37:08

We will be back!

When we tried to book a place in Stratford early in the summer, every place we looked at was either booked or very expensive. Then we found the listing for this B & B. It had only one review at the time, but it was very good - so we took a chance and booked it. We stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Although the place is technically beyond the town limits, it is less than a minute drive from the edge of town and only about a five minute drive to the centre of town. Our room (The Meadow Suite) was huge and very lovely. It had a nice sitting area and a private balcony. A separate sitting room (shared between the three rooms at the B & B) has a fridge that is kept stocked with cold drinks for guests, which was great when we came back late afternoon after a day of shopping or touring. The breakfasts were both plentiful and delicious. Mieke, our host, is not only a wonderful cook, but also very informative about the town. We will definitely stay here again.

A Great Stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Meadow Suite at this lovely B & B. The room was beautiful - spacious, tastefully decorated, clean and quiet. The location was excellent - only 5 minutes away from the Avon Theatre, but surrounded by peaceful country fields - so relaxing. We stayed two nights in order to explore the western shore of Lake Huron and found it an easy drive from there. Our hosts, Mieke and Bob are very accommodating and fun to chat with and made us feel very welcome; we felt like we were visiting friends. Breakfast was delicious ! We hope to return again when we can. Maddy and Terry

Comfortable Relaxing with a great hostess!

Meike was a wonderful hostess. The rooms were spacious, super quiet, comfortable and ultra clean. It is a bit away from the centre of Stratford but it took about less than 5 minutes to drive to the theatres. The breakfast was yummy and plentiful. There is also a surprise of snacks and wine when you get back to your room after the theatre, but I guess I have spoiled the surprize.

2011-10-17 09:56:54

Do not miss!

" A Touch of Country " doesn't get the position it deserves in the Festival listings due to a technicality, as it is 400m outside the city limits. Too bad, because this is a lovely home with most accommodating and friendly hosts. And better, a very handy location. Although south of the Lorne Street city limit by a wee bit, it is a straight 5 min drive up Downie St past the free parking lot direct to the Avon and Studio Theatres and downtown. Or, over 500m on Lorne to Romeo, up to the Garden Inn, 2 lefts into the park and to the Festival Theatre in less than 8 min. If all guests agee, let Mieke surprise you with her imaginative and delicious breakfast! Bob and Mieke are so very personable and willing to please. Very quiet modern spacious rooms. A wonderful stay. We will return.
