Cracker Barrel Review!
Friendly service, left full and happy with our experience.. We had eggs, steak tips, and the hash brown casserole! Iced lattes are amazing!
Horrible food
The food was absolutely terrible the toast tasted like there were chemicals in it. the sausage was very bad the only thing that tasted good was the pancakes and they were hard. Service was amazing but I will not be returning.
Very Well Managed!
I was so impressed with this Cracker Barrel in Downingtown, PA! It was very well managed. We were seated immediately by a friendly and efficient hostess. Our waitress, Jhasae, was phenominal! She was so pleasant and patient and always made sure that we had everthing we needed. Our family chose to have breakfast for dinner, and everything was delicious! The pancakes were large, light, and fluffy! Great meal! We will surely return!
Cracker Barrel - Won't go again
Went there for breakfast around 8:30 today and had not been there in a while. No one at the host podium so asked a gift store clerk if anyone was working back there. There were only 2 customers and already eating, so I don't know what they were doing back there. She called back there and we still waited 5 minutes and then decided to leave. Cost me about $2 in gas, but saved $20 in meals and $5 tip. Won't make the mistake of going there again.
It's just not like the other Cracker Barrel's
2pm late lunch. What could be wrong.. not only did our waitress forget about us but she delivered cold platters. Country fried steak and the sirloin were not even warm. The sirloin was not cooked past raw after ordering medium rare. wish I had gone to BurgerKing..😂. The one good thing… our dogs are gonna love their $55.00 meal. 🤪. Save your money for a better Cracker Barrel….. we normally like them
LOW LIFE MANAGER CANNOT RUN STORE
We did an curbside order over the phone and when the associate didn't ask us to pay and hung up we tried to call back. So when I get there I'm told they don't do curbside orders over the phone. Isn't that the ASSOCIATE'S PROBLEM FOR NOT TELLING US THAT !!! When I simply told the manager this after I drive 20 minutes she then proceeds to say I was getting RUDE !! Well after this happening twice you bet I got RUDE !!! THIS PLACE IN DOWNINGTOWN PA SUCKS !;;;;
boycott this place, general manager needs to go
the general manager was unprofessional, the pancakes was over cooked, the hostess didnt know what he was doing, they told us their was 10 to 15 min wait.. but turned into an half hour.. there were alot of tables open
Stay far away
Our normal order at Cracker Barrel is usually a burger and fries, how bad can you screw up a burger? Well we found the Cracker Barrel that can. The burger was cooked well done, hard as a rock. Stepping outside the box, we got a chicken pot pie, minimal chicken and no cream sauce. The saving grace were the fries. Thank goodness.
Incompetence at its best
Ignorant manager and incompetence at its finest. The wait for food was well over an hour and when asked about my order I was lied to. Asked to speak to the manager and she refused to come speak to me. I will never return here again. I used to eat here for over 10 years regularly and over the last few years it has gone downhill and been mismanaged. Save your money and avoid this place at all cost.
Absolutely disgusting ! Waited over an hour for what looked like eaten bacon !
Used to eat here before COVID, was a great breakfast place. Now, see photos, I asked for pancake, hash brown casserole WELL DONE and bacon WELL DONE. After over one hour our food came, the hash brown is not well done but RAW and something the size of a joke, the pancake fit in the palm of my hand, the bacon literally looks like they gave me someone else's LEFTOVERS. It was too disgusting even to eat, we left, never to return to this terrible place.
Mismanaged and Mismanaged
Poor service, poor results. When I complained to their so called customer service department, after a long delay, someone named Cheryl just called me today and threatened to give my personal information to the very management team I complained about. This place and business has a poor culture and the quality of the product and service shows it. You do not get what you asked for. Long delays and if they know you complained formally, you get treated poorly. Never coming back.
Worst chicken fried steak I ever had
I had my vehicle at the Dodge Ram dealer next to this Cracker Barrel and was. Eey hungry. There is a Texas Roadhouse too but they dont open until 4 pm. I regret going to Cracker Barrel and buying a chicken fried steak. I will not order that again here.
Cold Lunch Special
I have to say I was really disappointed, it's been several months since my last visit to this location but the lunch special I had was all cold and they weren't busy at all. Won't be back here anytime soon!!!
Slow service, Slower kitchen
Mid afternoon visit. Not overly busy. Had to wait forever for waiter to show up and then had to track him down for refills. When order was finally taken it took over 30 minutes for food to arrive. Complained to management (retail mgr.) who acknowledged the slowness but that's about it. Spend your food dollars elsewhere. There is a Texas Roadhouse right next door that usually provides better service.
Pleasant and efficient
Previous visits to this location have always been good, but this one was especially so. Beyond the standard good quality of the food and the comfortable surroundings, the Downingtown location has a special energy. The staff members are pleasant and seem to enjoy working with each other. The work of Jessica, the server, was especially good. She tried to anticipate my needs and displayed a genuine friendliness that was refreshing. I can recommend the Downingtown location of Cracker Barrel. I enjoyed my meal there immensely.
Adequate
If you're coming to a place like this, you're not really expecting the best of the best. With that said, the food is decent. I had the roast beef platter. The roast beef wasn't as tender as I'd personally like, but the veggies were good. Our server was confused for 90% of the time we were there.
Love this restaurant
I've eaten at this restaurant about 15 times and I'm always very happy. The food is great and wide selection of entrees and sides. Love the atmosphere and the little store that carries a multitude of area souvenirs. The staff is friendly and overall I really enjoy my visits.
Southern fried chicken
Finally found a place that makes excellent fried chicken, Even my husband likes it. We have been back there 3 times just for the chicken. Plus it sells Big Hunk candy bars that I can not find any where else.
This Place Has Gone Down Hill Considerably
I have been to several other Cracker Barrels over the years, but it had been awhile since I've visited one. Never this one. The wait was about 20 minutes and we were seated at this small table (two of us) that didn't seem to be built for two adults. As we walked through the entire store we passed several, clean tables but passed them all. Why is there a 20 minute wait? When we got to the back of the restaurant, my fiancee nearly fell on her backside. We were right in front of the kitchen and the floor was so greasy we felt like we were skating. The floor was that greasy. We made it our table in one piece and our waitress came immediately and took our food and drink order as we had had time to scan the breakfast menu ahead of time. The wait for the drinks was quick, but we waited nearly a half hour for the food. Of course, it also wasn't hot. My food was nearly stone cold. My fiancee's pancakes were slightly warm, but that was about it. The food was tasteless, bland and uneventful. But they do give you a good amount of it. Prices are are not bad either. But the cleanliness of the place is abysmal. Cracker Barrel isn't what it use to be. As we were leaving and skating to the exit, a woman in front of us fell hard on the greasy floor. Looked like a law suit to me.
Cracker Barrel # 509
Ate lunch at the Cracker Barrel. Tried the famous southern fried chicken. 4 pieces in the meal. 3 pieces actually - one was a little skin highly breaded. Chicken was deep fried a little longer than I would have liked and a little more spicy. Other had the FF Shrimp and enjoyed them. Also had the bacon baked beans and they were very good. Service was very good. Cracker Barrel Restaurants in general definitely need a " spring cleaning ". Globes on kerosene lights are dirty, pictures hanging on wall are splashed with liquid and items are dusty.
Always Good!
Wait Time: A Food: A Atmosphere: A- Service: A Prices: A+ Overall: A We were there for breakfast on June 1st Wait Time: We got there around 10am and pretty much got a table right away. It was busy but not the busiest I've seen it. Food: Food here is good and consistent. Which is all you can ask for. I got the eggs, ham and pancakes and my wife got blueberry pancakes and there was no complaints around the table. The coffee is good too! Atmosphere: The restaurant appeared clean and smelled great! Love that fireplace smell! Service: Our waitress was great. Punctual, got everything correct, friendly and checked back often. Prices: Super affordable. Great food for cheap! Overall: I will keep going back to Cracker Barrell. You don't need to go to this one in particular but if you are looking for a good meal that is fast and cheap, no better spot than this chain!
Absolutely terrible on numerous visits
The location has really gone downhill. I haven't been here in about 8 months as my last few visits were just terrible, after going here about a dozen times the past couple years. I thought time would heal their wounds with maybe new management would take over and hire more attentive servers, but I was wrong. My wife ordered pancakes and they were undercooked and cold. I tried the new fried chicken and it was barely average, lacking flavor and it was very dry. The coleslaw was drowning and the green beans were also cold. The biscuits and cornbread were both undercooked and the coffee was old. We asked for a fresh cup but got another tasteless old cup of coffee. Everything has gone off the cliff here. I'm so done with this location.
Loved the Southern Fried Chicken Dinner
We had a good experience. Although there were empty tables visible, we had to wait a while to be seated. Our server Judy was very friendly. Our meal consisted of Mama's Breakfast with Pancakes and Southern Fried Chicken. The pancakes were smaller than we are used to getting. In the South, the pancakes are much larger. The fried chicken is a new menu item. It was very good. There was a nice crunchy coating that was well seasoned. All the food came out piping hot like it came directly out of the oven. It is surprising to see the negative reviews because our experience was a good one.
Would Not Return
Went with family members for dinner on a Saturday night and we expected a wait. There was a wait of about 20-25 minutes which if the dining room was full I could understand but both sections of the dining room were probably one half to two thirds full. The only bright spot was our server who was very nice. The food took forever and when it came out mine was cold. I ordered one of the all day breakfasts. The eggs were cold and the hash brown casserole was also cold and did not look appetizing. They were out of grits and gave me sausage gravy which I can't even describe. It was also cold and was thick and tasteless. The bacon I ordered came out much later than the meal but at least it was tasty and hot. My family was also very underwhelmed by their food. I will not be going back and will stick with local diners when wanting breakfast at night. It's a shame as the location is very good and the store is nice.
2 hour delay breakfast
Good service and good food. Always need to remember my Grandma's trick of asking for apple butter to go with the biscuits. Yummy
Usually Love Cracker Barrel..
This was my worst experience at any Cracker Barrel EVER. Usually we stop while on the road with little or no concern about getting a good meal and Great Service! The Location was the exception. It took over 5 minutes for the Waitress to take Drink orders, over 25 minutes after than for Drinks after asking the Manager about them. The waitress said she was told to only worry about Hot Foods? Then we see the waitress and others assisting here servicing all the adjoining tables and ignoring us. When the food finally came to our table almost 40 minutes after orderings it was as expected and tasted great! Just poor service over all and little reason or explanation why it was so bad?
Cracker Barrel is Always Good
Cracker Barrel is always good, but this one seems to be just a little off. The service is not as good as other CBs, and the food is often not as warm or as fresh as others. Don't judge the other CBs but this one.
Breakfast was a delight
The coffee, food and service was great and we enjoyed shopping in the gift store. The waitress service was good.

I have been to this restaurant on several occasions. The food is always excellent, and the customer service is brilliant.
A Very Good Cracker Barrel
We stopped here on our way home from Scranton. We had a gift card and decided to use it here. We were very well pleased with this location. It was not crowded when we got there and were seated right away. The server was friendly and helpful. The meals we ordered were freshly made and very good. I got the the new campfire roast beef with potatoes and carrots This was very good and plenty for a good meal. My wife was very well pleased with her meal too. We also ordered the smores ice cream desert. It was really big and couldn't quite finish it all. The manager at this location was very friendly too and that helped lend a good atmosphere. If you are traveling through this area like us and want a good meal you should stop here. You won't be disappointed.
Always dependable
We like Cracker Barrel because it's a reliable place to get breakfast foot at any time. We went specifically for breakfast because we like the pancakes. Mom's Pancake Breakfast is one of our go-to dishes. We also tried the Ham Breakfast Bowl.
Fun for the kids
I'm not crazy about Cracker Barrel but my kids are obsessed. They love the country store aspect of it and their breakfast. I think it's pretty average as far as breakfasts go - it's a chain, go figure - but my kids are in love and always ask to go there.
Food good service not so good
Always good food great selection, but service was slow. Restaurant was not busy, but when we went at 7:30 pm we had to wait for almost everything we asked for even to the point that we had to go look for our waitress becaus e she did not bring the extra napkins we asked for. They need to do a better job on service!
Needs and update
Restaurant is so dark and dismal and really feels dirty. We were there mid afternoon and ordered breakfast. Our pancakes were very good but our scrambled eggs were very undercooked. Waitress never came back to ask if our food was okay so we just didn't eat them.
They Did Not Disappoint.
Stopped in here for Saturday morning breakfast. We were able to walk right in and get served. There were not many people there at all. It was quiet and the service was good. Food was good too but I have not had a bad meal at Cracker Barrel yet. Shout out to Mama's Pancake Breakfast. :-)
Horrible Service
We were there around 11 - 11:30 am, placed order for food and drinks and waited 15 minutes to get the drinks, After 31 minutes the waitress finally came and said I know it has been 31 minutes since you placed your order and I asked the kitchen where it was and how much longer. She said she would check again but went over to two other tables and took orders from them. We left at that point and will not go back again.
Very good
Very good food, good service and very nice gift shop. We went on an off time. This location is visible from road and easy to get in and out.. Enjoy it :)
always a good meal
we usually stop here on the way to Lancaster area and on the way back home... as usual, the food was good, service was ok, but place is normally crowded, so expect a little slower service than normal... they have a Holiday Sampler=2 eggs, 1 each of bacon, smoked sausage patty, country ham-also hash brown casserole, sausage gravy, grits, baked apples, biscuits and a special cinnabun made from a biscuit=$8.99
Southern style hometown cooking
I've been to several Cracker Barrel restaurants while traveling. I been their for breakfast as well as dinner. I've never had a bad meal. I went there for dinner. It was very good and didn't cost and arm and a leg. I got a steak, and it came with 3 sides dishes to choose from a list. The steak 10 Oz. Wasn't real big. I thought when I got my steak and 3 sides and a corn muffin and a biscuit. No problem I'll eat this and most likely still have room for desert. I was wrong. I was full by the time I finished. I probably could have had desert, but I'm full without it.
High Carb place
Menu offers a lot of high carb choices, not the place to go if you're eating healthy, you can get full, most offerings are not heart healthy
Best hash brown casserole
Cathy was our server and brought our order in a timely manner. Breakfast was really good and I always enjoy the hash brown casserole. The food was reasonably priced. We definitely recommend this restaurant.
Back on track - great value and service
What a difference a few months makes! We visited here after a 5 month lull due to the poor service and were pleasantly surprised. The waiter was very friendly and efficient and food order was taken and delivered quickly with no order errors this time. Our five meals were good and it was a pleasant meal.
Reliably good food
I've eaten at their locations in various locations throughout the US, and they're very reliable as far as their food goes. I love their chicken fried chicken, with two large chicken pieces, three sides, corn bread, and sweet tea. Reminds me of my days stationed in Louisiana. Their servers are normally very friendly and efficient. Only negative experience was in upstate New York when they were really chintzy with the food portions. When I spoke to the Manager, he insisted that they were appropriate. I truly hope he's not with the company anymore because he was a poor example of management. My wife likes to browse the store after eating, and I get a kick out of seeing their old fashioned candy. If they're busy, you can even go outside and sit a spell while listening for your name. That's right neighborly of them.
Always Good
We ate here for lunch on our way to Lancaster Area and breakfast on the way home. We really like Cracker Barrel, and this one was no exception. Biscuits are always good, food hot and tasty. Reasonable prices, too. Too bad the nearest one is 50 miles from our home in NJ
JUST OK
Went for dinner. Wife's dumplings were too thick, not too tasty, and could have been hotter. My fried chicken, the Sunday night special, was plentyful but the crust was a little soggy.
Meets standards
This Cracker Barrel is good. Nothing bad to say. We ate here twice on this trip. We've been here many times before and we will continue to come here. I really don't know what else to say. Cracker Barrel is pretty consistent
Needs work
I like going here because we receive good and friendly service. But the food quality is inconsistent. Breakfast never disappoints. Dinner needs work. The corn bread tastes like grease, the fries are not served hot or fresh, and the chicken and rice was very dry.
Good brunch
Had a very good experience for our brunch visit. The server was friendly and the service was great & quick. Food was very good, and their biscuits were amazing. The staff at the front reception near their store was very friendly as well. The setup and decor of the premises was quaint and inviting. Would visit again if in the area.
No longer a choice of restaurant
We had great experience at a Cracker Barrel in New England so were hoping this would be as good an experience. unfortunately not. Wait staff forgot drinks order then came back to tell us that the sides we ordered weren't available. The kitchen got the order wrong and we had to wait for one of the meals which, even after all of this as missing one side order. To cap off the evening another waitress was knocked by a kid in a rocking chair and dropped a full glass which shattered everywhere and then, the desert we ordered wasn't available. Oh, and the waitress didn't clear the table so we did it! Overall not a pleasure. I don't think we'll return in a hurry...
Dinner
Should have known to leave when no one was in the place or at the seating station, yet had to wait 5 minutes for hostess to ve seated. Asked for window table and was denied. Waited almost 10 minutes to order. Salad that I ordered for Before the meal came with the meal and the waitress inmediately stated it was the kitchen's fault as she was putting down my food. Corn was mixed on with the green beans. Instead of just refilling my water, she asked me if I needed more water... duhhhh... glass was sitting empty for over 5 minutes! Complained at the cash register when paying. Never saw a manager at any time. Pathetic excuse for a restaurant. Cracker Barrel is usually pretty good and standard regardless of location, but stay away from this one. I have had the same types of encounters here in the past and thought I would give it one last try... MISTAKE! NOT going back again!
Service is a problem
Really like the home style food But service has always been a problem at this location But sometimes its great Managers are not helpful anymore Used to have a guy JR he was great He would jump in and help any where they needed help not anymore They have a retail manager who will ask u how was ur visit u tell him it was bad he says I'm the retail manager I can't help u. I was like thinking then why ask me u idiot. I just shook my head and left We used to go there 2 or 3 times a week now its 1 ever 3 months maybe We find its not like that when we travel Other cracker barrels are run so much better
Like burning plastic tainted water
Everything my wife and I ordered has a strong chemical taste that resembles plastic that got too hot. Our water glasses, tea, coffee and juice. Shocked at a company this large, bring in filtration or bottled water. It ruined my dinner, I was too nervous to think it is in the food as well. How can others not taste this? Disappointed and we usually love cracker barrels.
Very Disappointing Cracker Barrel Dinner
We've been to many Cracker Barrel restaurants, but unfortunately this was one of two worst ones we've ever been to. We both had Trout which was very good. Our server, Heather Ann was very personable & pleasant. However, she was extremely busy & because of the problems with our order, the service was slower. For my sides, I ordered the Fried Apples & a Baked Potato. What I initially received was Pinto Beans & a VERY hard Baked Potato (I couldn't even put my fork in it). She brought out a new & properly cooked baked potato promptly. Although it was tasty, I've had much better baked potatoes at other restaurants so I wouldn't order a baked potato at a Cracker Barrel again. I had to re-request my Fried Apples a second time. And we had to re-request Apple Butter a second time. Finally, the biscuits were unusually salty on the top & bottom and were not as good as we've had at other Cracker Barrel restaurants. We're not likely to visit that particular Cracker Barrel again, at least not in the near future. Hopefully the issues attributable to the kitchen will be worked out.
Can't Drive Past it
Love this place. Consistently good comfort food. Waitress and staff have it together. Good hot and filling. Portions are good but prices are going up. Two breakfasts. 32- THE ATTACHED GIFTSHOP IS ACES. Always sa good selection at fair prices. I'll definitely go back. Wish there was one on Long Island.
Angering Experience- Overcharged
We decided to eat here tonight after a particularly grueling day. We were looking forward to a nice evening out. The " Special " for the night was a turkey dinner- it was written on the blackboard at the hostess desk. It appeared on the menu that it was $6.99. We thought that was a great price, so our family of 4 each ordered a plate. When the waitress took the order for the 2 sides we got to choose, she informed us it was not 2, but 3 sides. We were pleasantly surprised and ordered a 3rd side. When the bill came, each dinner was $8.99. We talked to a manager about this discrepancy. He wouldn't budge on the price and commented, " Well, that waitress is new. I guess we should train our waitresses better. " We then paid the full price because our waitress messed up what she told us. I live very close to this restaurant but will never be back. More than just the waitress could use better training.
horrible service
We were sat at a table and then never waited on. After about 15 mins we finally left. Very disappointing since my sister always raves about how great cracker barrel is. We have not gone back.
Going downhill
I will say that the service at the Cracker Barrel has been pretty good but the food has gone down hill. We usually eat here for breakfast but for the past several months the food has been not very good. On our last trip my wife's sausage actually tasted off? So we sent them back and got something else. My daughter's pancake was burnt so we sent that back as well. I hope that CB can get it together as it was a great place to go.
Ignored and denied service
It is sad that in 2016, I am compelled to write this review. I went out to breakfast and arrived just after 8 am on a Saturday morning. My party and I were seated in the rear dining room where at the time was just one other party of about 6 men. No waitress ever appeared at our table--however several came to assist the table of men and a single man and then another couple who came in 10 minutes and then 20 minutes after us respectively. Upon getting up to leave--we were then told-- " honey I was just about to come over there ". We asked for the manager " Justin " who then kept us waiting another 10 minutes. (for the record he never came to the front reception area) I was shocked and appalled by what I found out when I googled people not being served at Cracker Barrel for frame of reference. Apparently, this restaurant chain has a history and an obvious pattern of discriminatory behavior and not all patrons are welcome here. For the record I have patronized this same restaurant with a different crowd and had no issues being served. Shame on you Cracker Barrel! I won't be back --I don't spend money where I am not welcome and I encourage others to vote with their wallets as well.
Management Free
Lack of management really shows from the hostess not being around to the cooks serving side items in coffee cups. Food came out cold, order was wrong. Our server was nice enough but that doesn't make up for the food and the hostess. Probably won't be back.
Better breakfast elsewhere in town for the price
My daughter and I had breakfast here on 9-1. For the same price Nudy's café has a much better quality breakfast than cracker barrel. My daughters two biscuts were the size of silver dollars, and almost as flat. I think they were probably left overs from the day before but served anyway. Will not be back anytime in the near future.

So uncomfortable. Way too many screaming kids. Nothing is really all that great. Don't need to go back.
Bleh food, service and prices
I used to love this chain when they first came to the pa area back in the 90s or so but it seems like they've lost their flare across the board. Their greeters are unprofessional and not pleasant, the waitstaff are either very good (seasoned) or very bad (just collecting a check or putting themselves through college). The food used to be good but it seems the last few times we've visited over the past few months, it's been a significantly long wait to order, get the food and by the time it arrives, it's cold and very unpleasant in appearance. Our pancakes had some black things all over them and who likes cold pancakes? Don't bother asking for extra anything because they don't fulfill those requests. I wish Perkins would open a restaurant in Chester County; they're professional, courteous, reasonably priced, offer free members club and rewards / coupons, and they greet, seat and eat FAST and HOT. Cracker Barrell needs to be either revamped or shut down for good. Don't waste your time and or money.
Nothing but Breakfast
We ate here yesterday for dinner (5:30pm). The hostess (a teen with light brown hair, slim, with glasses) was a gem, sat us promptly, and the waitress was very good. always checked back at our table (which is very rare these days) Food came out slow but she came back at least 3 times to apologize, rare these days, and the food was typical non breakfast CB food, average. Now the so called " manager ". not sure what he does? he walked around a half empty restaurant, with dirty tables everywhere, never attempted to clean one table, yet he carried a towel with him. A french fry laying on the floor was passed by by everyone, iI was waiting for food to go flying after someone slid on it, the Hostess walked by picked it up and acted so natural about it, like I said a gem. the men's room was dirty with paper towels everywhere, Obviously no staff reported it & the manager never checked it trash was overflowing.. Parking lot was jammed, but place half empty, everyone was at restaurant next door, Manager has to go!!!! or just manage :)
Food Poisoning
If you like to get food poisoning, then this is the place for you to go. Plus the server was clueless as how to translate how the side orders work. Food all over the floor at empty tables. Had to wait for 15-20 minutes for a party of 4. Once our party was called we walked to our table, at which time I noticed there were a ton of empty tables, so I am not sure what the wait was for. I will never go back.
Worst service ever. Food.
