TC Time Walk will serve as a precursory review of what the city has to offer and we invite you to join our city walk! Taichung is both a historic marvel and one of the most important foodie mecca in the world - As the birthplace of the worldwide sensation Pearl Milk tea. The old city center of Taichung is a city with a split personality, designed by the Japanese in the 19th Century to be the little Kyoto outside of Japan. It now echoes the youthful metropolis of Westernization. Route A & B are both FREE (No Charge but tips are welcome). Please refer to our pamphlet / Facebook page for more information. How to join us : Fill out the Tour Reservation Form (link available on TC Time Walk Facebook Page) and you will receive a confirmation response. *Please reserve your tour 24 hour in advance so we can better prepare for your arrival!

Perfect for the first evening of your stay in Taichung
I had a great time with our guide Doby. She was energetic, informative, and definitely didn't care that we took a lot more of her time than she was supposed to. 10 / 10 very good quality.

Outstanding Experience. Highly Recommend
Excellent tour. We spent two hours leisurely walking around the central area, looking at various historical and meaningful landmarks. Our guide, Eddie, was very well prepared. He had old photos and all the necessary historical tidbits to share with everyone. In fact, before the actual tour, we also had the chance to let the tour guide know if we have any specific interests. So, for example, one person in our group mentioned that she was interested in architecture. Eddie therefore prepared more materials on this aspect. Very informative. Very satisfied. Two hours well spent.

A Wonderful City Tour
Jack在全程的導覽中真的非常非常的認真～過程中他很細心的介紹舊式建築的一些小細節、小巧思, 即使他已經留得滿身大汗, 但他還是不怎麼休息的繼續介紹下去。Jack的個性也很和善, 沒有距離感, 讓整個過程能更輕鬆的去體驗舊城的一些樂趣～整體來說這次的城市旅遊讓我收穫非常的多也非常的開心, 之後如果還有機會來到台中的話, 一定還會再體驗更多的城市旅遊～

了解中區在地歷史的發展
因為工作的因素, 我的評論會比較嚴苛, 整體來說和自己的預期的有落差, 在於導覽人員對於歷史的深度和廣度不符合我的需求, 許多歷史資料是容易從網路上搜尋的, 在旅程中, 沒有整體的串聯, 原本期待對台中的文史有更完整且深入的了解, 建議之後要參加的朋友可以在報名時先告知需求, 能讓活動可以更圓滿完整。
When in Taichung, do the locals do !
With our hosting guided Elaine and Ray, my husband and I had a great day walking tour around the city. We got more than expected just to taste great 5-6 cuisine dishes but also historical guide around the city. Insightful and personalized tour we enjoyed their company every minute of it. Thank you both! We will come back again
Great way to experience Taichung food and history
We only had one day to enjoy Taichung and wanted to experience some Taiwanese food and learn about and see some of the city. We decided on a half-day, private, tour and it was a great decisions. Our booking was quickly confirmed and we were placed in contact with our tour guide Tony who immediately contacted us and made himself available for ANY questions we had about the tour, or Taiwan in general. He helped us with train schedules and finding the meeting place (which was very simple). On the day we had what I can only describe as an excellent time wandering through the old part of town near the train station. We visited the quite large market (I know. You think you've seen an Asian market before, but this one is a little different and worth a visit), ate a LARGE variety of local food, and learned a lot about Taiwan and Taichung. Tony made they day Diane and enjoyable. I highly recommend TC TimeWalk in general and Tony specifically!
A very interesting insight into the history of Taichung!
I am very glad I joined this tour during my trip to Taichung. I have learned so much about the history of the place and was able to marvel over its architectural landmarks. The walking tour has given me a deeper understanding of how the city and the people's culture became into what it is today. The tour includes notable stops such as the old Taichung Station, Miyahara Eye Hospital, ASEAN Square, etc. It was a pity the tour happened at night and some of the establishments were closed but I think it was still a worthwhile visit. Ashley, my tour guide, was very knowledgeable and had some great recommendations of the city's must-visit spots. I would highly recommend joining their tour. I definitely think it is worth it!
Best Birthday Trip Ever! 🥳
Guide: Tony Pai Date: 6 August 2019 Went on a solo trip to Taiwan in August and I had a terrific time exploring different parts of Taichung under the guide of Tony from TC TimeWalk! It was only his second time showing a traveller around back then, but Tony was a tremendous help to me not just during my trip, but way before I flew as well. He was literally a walking TC Wikipedia and was always contactable, friendly, reliable and ready with information. We are still in touch till today! While travelling solo may seem oh-so-common to avid travellers, it was my first completely # soloyolo trip to anywhere in the world. What's more special was that this walking tour happened to fall on my birthday (that's how I still remember the date hahaha. Sorry about the delayed review) ! It was truly a memorable trip as it was also my first time spending my country's national day in a foreign place. To add on to the already epic experiences, I even encountered my first earthquake and typhoon after I left TC for TPE. :o Okay, back to TC TimeWalk. I love walking tours in general and TC TimeWalk certainly met my expectations. I learned so much about this history-rich region and visited places that I would never had discovered or stepped into on my own. One such place is the 千越大廈. The walking tour I signed up for didn't include a tour up this old, abandoned building so I gamely went in on my own during my free time the next morning, and that was hours before I was scheduled to head to TPE so you just can't miss it! I won't reveal much about this place so you've got to find out on your own when you join the tour! I believe they organise special night walks to this place too! All I can say is that you should bring a repellent or you'll end up as mozzie food (like me). The mozzies there are ferocious! There are also some important rules in place that you must know before you can head up, so please ask your guide. Overall, I really loved the tour (my second favourite spot is Miyahara store # 2), the trip, the food and the people of TC! Thank you Tony and TC TimeWalk for making my birthday trip a crazy memorable one! 🥰
Very informative and well presented
Our tour guide Miguel, was very pleasant and very well versed on the history of downtown Taichung and led us on an interesting 2.5 hour tour of the city explaining both its history and it's development through the ages. Options were given to take time out for a little shopping or ice cream and to point out areas or points of interest that may require more time to enjoy out with the tour. The tour is not long in term # of walking distance but crams in lots of interesting sites and historical references. Miguel spoke perfect English and made sure we got the most from his time. If you are in Taichung then I would highly recommend this tour.
Excellent walking tour with Ivy
We had an amazing walking tour through Taichung with our guide, Ivy. She was incredibly informative and insightful when she was showing us around the local sights and foods around central Taichung (and very patient in answering our incessant questions). Ivy even suggested several things to do for the rest of our time in Taichung. I would highly recommend this tour!
絕對值得來一次的深度旅遊
即使去過多次的宮原眼科到今天才了解他背後的故事, 比起自己上網查資料, 有導覽解說既清楚又有趣。 很感謝今天帶導覽的小美女, 感覺就像跟朋友一起逛街一樣有趣, 下次來台中會再選擇別種行程參觀。
增加有趣台中小知識
因為到國外讀書後發現自己無法完整介紹自己家鄉, 反而更想了解自己長大的地方是什麼樣子。 難得放假回來, 夜遊台中真的很不一樣, 舊台中火車上的雕刻居然是水果太驚訝了好可愛🥰 導遊中英切換跟詳細的解說非常棒, 下次帶朋友去宮原眼科也可以和他們分享那些有趣的小知識了！ 有機會也想參加別的路線。

Great introduction to the city!
I had a great evening with TC Time Walk! Ashley did a great job introducing the city and showing me around. We made several stops including the Miyahara ice cream shop, which is in a beautiful old eye hospital. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who is visiting and wants an overview of the city.
Great city tour of Taichung
Great little tour of Taichung showcasing all different sides of Taichung, it's people, history, architecture and some foods! Our guide jack was well informed and kept the tour interesting. I'd highly recommend the tour, even if it's just for the stop at miyahara 😝
Learn about the history of Taichung
Taichung isn't easy to navigate for non-Mandarin speaking tourists (Taiwan is generally very hard once you're outside Taipei City). My Mandarin is rusty and my partner doesn't speak any at all. We booked TC Time tour because my partner had a good experience with something similar in Taipei. We had a private night walking tour (not intentional) by volunteer tour guide Peter. It was very nice for me to finally be able to take a break from speaking Mandarin and be able to ask questions in English. Peter is very passionate about Taichung, and he's so, so hospitable. He gave us some Taiwanese snacks to try and even prepared a PowerPoint presentation to illustrate the tour. The walking tour didn't cover a lot of locations, but he told us a lot of the city and the contributions that the Japanese made during its occupation. After the tour he even offered us a ride the Fengjia night market, which was not in the itinerary at all. We got to meet his wife, who was also very friendly and we enjoyed getting to know the couple. We wanted to go to Sun Moon Lake on another day and he researched the route for us! I highly recommend this tour, and it's best to do it on your first night so that you can revisit the spots he recommends in day time. I did the suncake DIY experience at the Suncake Museum and it was very fun!
A great way to know the history of Taichung
I can't thank Vick highly enough for an excellent and fun evening tour. I learned a lot about the history of some iconic buildings and places in the city. It's amazing to know how the original parts of these infrastructures were still preserved while being infused with modernism. One of my favorite parts of the tour is when he showed us some before and after pictures of several famous landmarks in the city. Moreover, having a diet restriction, Vick went an extra mile by taking us to a shaved ice dessert shop instead of the infamous ice cream parlor. I really appreciated his time, effort and kindness. Overall, this is one of my favorite free tours and please don't miss it when you come to Taichung.
A great guided walking tour
Our tour guide is Jack Bai. The tour was very informative and interesting. Jack told us stories about the buildings and areas around Taichung Train Station and pointed out hidden gems and symbolic features of the historical buildings. Thank you Jack and TC Walk for providing this free tour. Highly recommend this.

有意思的台中的小漫遊
我們參加的是舊城單車遊, 在週日早上騎單車穿梭舒服的台中舊城街道。走走一般旅客未必會到的舊區大街小巷, 細說背後的歷史、人文生活。本來不顯眼的小屋, 經在地人介紹之後, 才知道原來大有故事, 讓旅客更認識當地人的生活和文化、也更了解日治對這地方的影响, 非常有意思, 十分推薦!

Really great tour
I was only in Taichung for a short period so wanted to learn as much about it as possible. I went on an evening tour with my guide Andrew. He showed me around the old station along with other areas such as the old eye hospital and various food spots. I learnt a lot about Taiwanese history and the history of Taichung. Andrew spoke good English and was really friendly. Afterwards, which I don't think was part of the tour was meeting some of his friends in a co-operative work space. Such a nice end to an evening.
Disappointed
If you are Asians, or familiar with Asian culture, this would be a complete, utter waste of time. The only interesting thing they covered was an old building that used to be a doctor's office and now a dessert / restaurant.
Great Night Walk while learning the history of Taichung
It was a good experience where we have our good english speaker tour guide - Harris. He was very interactive and easy to talk to. He went through with us a lot of Taichung histories while bringing us around Taichung city. It is good to know and learn new things in other countries. Keep it up TC time walk! You don't want to miss if you love history and culture
Just had a private tour with Karen tonight. She took me around the area near the old Taichung train station, we went from one point of interest to the next and time just flied by so quickly. We'd also stopped by to enjoy some local crusine on the way. Loved it!
Great evening tour with Joanne, Karen & Shaw
My hubby and I joined the evening downtown walking tour. It turned out to be a private tour since the other group that reserved did not arrive. It's my second time in Taichung, but learned a lot about history and fun trivia facts. I am glad to meet young people who are enthusiastic and proud to introduce their city to visitors. Would recommend this tour not only for first timers in this city, but repeat visitors as well. They are fun to hang out with, and very easy to relate to. Thanks again Joanne and company! Friendly and Knowledgeable Yu Lin
I had the privilege of going around the charm of Taichung last September 2017. I booked the half-day city walking tour. Yu Lin was my tour guide. She is friendly and knowledgeable about the city. She speaks excellent English. Please support TC Timewalk! It is nice to have organizations like these. It makes solo traveler more convenient!

宿のホストのおすすめで参加しました。今も残る日本統治時代の建造物を通して台湾と日本の歴史的関わりが理解できます。もちろんローカル目線でのガイドおすすめの路地グルメ処なども案内してくれます。 ガイドは皆ボランティアで我がまち・台中を愛情込めて案内してくれます。他の旅行者との出会いも楽しいです。 午前10時から始まる約二時間のツアーですが、内容によっては時間がオーバーすることもあります。時間に少し余裕を見て参加することをおすすめします。

很棒的一次城市导览！Natalie讲解地很细致有趣！即便只带我一个人, 她也很用心, 不仅带我去了爆红网络的 " 宫原眼科 ", 还带我去隐秘的小巷喝青草茶、去百年冰点吃挫冰…... 更重要的是, 她还准备了一些历史资料和图片, 结合你亲自踏访所见的建筑, 为你讲述台中的历史与变迁, 这是比自己瞎逛更有收获的地方！

Knowledgeable guides take you for an interesting dip into the past and present of Taichung's center
Me and my girlfriend did the Saturday morning (10am to noon) Downtown Tour and had a great time with Sonia! She was lovely and quite knowledgable about Taichung, though she's not originally from there. We really enjoyed learning from her about the different particularities that make places like Miyahara and the Taiwan Sun Cake Museum really special and noteworthy parts of Taichung's past and present. We hope the TC Time Walk project finds its wings and continues to soar. It's awesome to see a young generation so engaged in making their city stand out and be so welcoming to visitors such as we. As a constructive feedback, we really think the reservation method needs to be made more straightforward, since we're pretty sure that a lot of people probably loses interest when they get stumped by a process that's not as obvious as it should be. Other than that, keep up the good work! For interested visitors to Taichung, make sure to check the facebook page and find the link to the google form that allows you to make the reservation. It's definitely worth it!
A new perspective on the city of Taichung
The chill out tour was a easy going tour visiting special sides of a different kind. Down town Taichung is definitely a lively area with an interesting history, worth telling. What is told during this tour cannot be found in most tourist guides, and is only therefore worth visiting. The only minor point is that take you to several shops where you can get the feeling they actually want you to buy something.

Great way to be introduced to Taichung
Dmitri and Chester were knowledgable, friendly and answered all our questions about the city and its people. The tour gives a tidy history of the city and a walk around the central district, a great evolving area. Recommended!

參加TC的導覽, 讓我比起過去更加認識台中這個地方, 在台中也生活20幾年, 但是跟外地人介紹台中這個地方我通常也就隻隻烏烏, 然後說一句差不多就這樣。但是在這幾次的導覽中我認識了各式各樣的台中中區, 也行走過那些以前不敢去的沒聽說過的秘密景點。 別再說自己的家鄉甚麼都沒有, 常常聽導覽~我們都可以驕傲地跟別人說!!!!!!我是台中人

Help you learn the Taichung old story
Very nice and warm tour guides, you can choose the tour A or tour B. Walking in the Taichung old city and see the old building, know more about this beautiful place. Very cool experience!
great way to find some good stuff in taichung
Taichung can be a little daunting if you have no mandarin, the guides on the TC Time walk spoke very good English and can explain all the little inexplicable things that you will notice while traveling in Taiwan. The walk was very educational and entertaining, we explored the park and learned some local Taichung history, I prayed at a Daoist Temple and We explored the nightmaket where i tried the local delicacies (Chuo Dofu!). the guides are extremely friendly and generous with their time, I would recommend TC Time walk to anyone visiting Taichung. Make sure to book ahead as they may cancel a tour if there is no bookings. The tour is free but they will accept tips that go to the running of the organisation.

就算是在地人 也能發現遺留在城市裡歷史的痕跡 透過導覽 能對當地有脈絡地重新認識。 這次走過的行程是 台中火車站-宮原眼科-第一廣場-青草街 幸發亭-太陽堂博物館-第四信用合作社 這些數年前每日經過的風景 隨時間有了很多變化 地方發展的興衰消長看得更是清楚

青草接的青草茶好清涼好好喝！全安堂太陽餅博物館的太陽餅好好吃！在第二市場發現傳說中的麻薏湯, 還有很多很多巴洛克風格辰野風格的老房子老廢墟超酷的！建國市場好有人情味, 要走入歷史了好可惜啊！
Amazing tour!
Taichung is a big city with a lot of history. TC Time walk does an awesome job covering most of it in a very short time. Its one of the more personal walking tours you would come across with the members of the crew making sure all your questions are answered. I definitely recommend this for everyone visiting Taichung.
Personal, detailed and spontaneous
Myself and two friends had a wonderful time taking the TC free walk. It is a great way to see the city, to learn about its history and to meet its people. Peggy who took us around was a great guide with a lot of knowledge. She went over and beyond in showing us her city. I have been to a lot of free walks and this surpassed them all. Thank you!
